We had a lovely experience at Bar-B-Que. The food is too much but even tastes better the next day. We went for my dads birthday and they really made his day special. Service was fast and the waiter give us good advice regarding meal portions.
If you looking for a value for money Bar-B-Que is the place to go. Make sure to book in advance, especially for bigger groups. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I struggle to decide what to order between the ribs, steak and schnitzel as they all delecious. Portions are huge, so you will definitely go home with a doggy bag. Oom Marius will make his rounds and crack a joke with his glass of wine when things quiet down. Love this little gem, always inviting different friends for a good, affordable night out ❤
Had dinner here last night and nothings changed since 20 years ago! We have a local gems dinner club and this was one of our best dinners out!! We had fantastic schnitzels and gordon blues and the authenticity we loved!! Will definitely return!!
This place is seriously a milestone of Cape Town. Still original interiors older than 40 years that sweat character from the wood paneled walls. Don't expect refined dining, this is a place for going strong on eating. Biiig portions, biig doggy bags. The area is tough at night , but that's part of the fun when the owner screams to the skollies in afrikaans. Go hungry and have fun in a traditional afrikaans crowd from last century.
Still the best schnitzel in town!! The owner, Oom Marius, is as friendly as ever. Great service, cheaper drinks than any other restaurant and awesome food. Would go tonight. Still full from last week😁
Definitely worth the visit. The interior design is very warm. The seats comfortable. It is smaller inside than expected but that doesn't put you off as you await your order to arrive. The waitresses are very informative and efficient. This is what I call value for money, both quantity- and quality-wise.
Good food ... Great service...and prices compare really well with other steakhouses. Down to earth vibe and family friendly. The fact that you have to book creats a barrier for some elements to not just rock up at the last minute or attract wrong crowds.

I'm giving them a 5 for shere individuality! You honestly just won't find a place like this anywhere in Cape Town. The decor is warm, woody with what looks like old cowboy leather straps (which I might add could come in useful for a number of after dinner activities) ...there's even an actual saddle hanging over one of the beams.It's warm and super chilled. I mean, they're had a Britney Spears CD playing #lawt
Portion size is outta this world, you will not finish it and you will have to take a doggy bag...more like a horse bag cos there's just sooo much food. Jagermeisters were originally made as a digestive, have one at this point.
The meals were tasty; although the ribs could have been somewhat more tender and perhaps ask for the schnitzel sauce on the side and not over it as I feel it sogs what is actually a crispy coating. The chefs 'secret sauce' is yummy so ask for extra cos that half a cow, I mean rack of ribs will need it. The drinks are cheap as chips (even a biker asked if those are old prices?) and our waitress was the cutest thing trying to explain the size of the food with her hands! Even the chef popped over and asked "Hoe was dit" to which I replied, "Dit was heerlik Oom"...cos you know "When in Rome" or Old South Africa cos that old south african hanging at the entrance threw me for a curve ball...buy hey...nothing another Jagie can't solve.
You won't have place for pudding..so don't even bother...los net dai gedagtes and have a another Jagie instead.
I'm defs gonna go back for the steak (200g, 300g, 500g and 1kg, I mean hellluurrrr)...but I first need to finish my left overs which I swear to god could feed another 3 people! Note to self #ladiesportion next time

This Steakhouse has a rich history and survived through decades. I have been familiar with this place for 40 years. Simple straight forward menu. Classic steakhouse interior. Huge loyal following of clients.
They have super good steak, large ribs portions. Legendary Cordonblu's, man sized schnitzels with super rich sauces. Be sure to book weeks in advance. Prices are reasonable and all their portions are bigger than anything else out there.
I can carry on about this place.. Just visit them
Just discovered that Bar-b-Que is now officially on Zomato! This place has the best service, the besy ribs, the best schnitzels and i cant wait to make our way there again this Saturday to introduce this place to our friends.Arno.degreeff

A small old fashioned hidden gem in the heart of Parow. Food was great we had actually decided to order different mains for the table and shared everything as their portions are huge. Above avg service. Really great place if you want value for money and really good food. Will definitely be back very soon!
What an awesome experience! And the owner is an old school friend of our family and we were neighbors basically in my hometown in Namaqualand - Nababeep! Okay okay this place might not look like much or even be nice inside, but if you're in the mood for REALLY good food, a lot of food and at a very good price this is definitely a must visit. This place has the biggest tastiest most filling schnitzels you will and have ever have!!!!! As well as there ribs. This is a place you come to HUNGRY!!!

Bar-B-Que steak restaurant is a great steak, always have a great steak, they are very reasonable priced, a reslly great steak restaurant, definitely recommend.
The place don't look like much from the outside, but trust me, it is worth making a booking to go there. They serve good old fashioned steak, ribs and schnitzels, no fancy stuff. The service is slow, but nobody mind as everyone seems to be having a good time. It is just one of those places where you feel at home.Warning: If you are not a big eater, take the ladies portions. Their portions are the biggest I've ever had in any restaurant.
Very large portions of tasty food. We drove all the way from Hout Bay for supper. Should tell you a lot about the food. No beer on tap though. Place was packed and booking essential.
I mean what can we say.. Brilliant like always…. All the staff are friendly, uncle Marius busy flame grilling the “bad boys” so nice. Always blast 💥 keep it up

My family and I had a lovely time at the restaurant! The portions were really big, for the same prices you pay at other restaurants. And the food was delicious. We all really enjoyed our food, and it was a great experience. We’ll definitely be back! Just be sure to make a reservation, they are very popular!

This is an awesome awesome restaurant with affordable prices and massive portions of food.
I absolutely love this place. What a gem. There is not a big variety of things on the menu, but the quality is unbelievable. The smallest portions are very generous, and the bigger portions are unbelievably big. The owner's special attention to his clients makes you feel welcome and important.

It was my first time at Bar-B-Que.
The atmosphere was great and we had this beautiful young waitress who was very friendly, patient and helpful.
The food was great, tasty and, I believe prepped by the owner, also a friendly and interesting chap. With the ribs you get finger bowl with a, seemingly, rose scented rag...so awesome. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for a good meal.
This fifty year-old, unassuming but authentic joint cooks up the biggest servings I have EVER seen. And, of course, the food is delicious. The place has been on my mind since, I'm breathing hard, I'm going back for more!
EDIT - 2 years later - Bar-B-Que has become our favorite "indulge" place to eat at. We leave with bellies aching every time, with enough in the doggy-bag for another meal or two... for two!

What an experience!!! AmaZing food, the portions are huge and the service was impeccable. Mareanca was on the ball, attentive and we couldn’t have asked for a better waitress to look after our table while we celebrated my bday.
Amazing food and friendly staff. You feel welcome from the time you walk in until you leave. The chef/owner even took the time out of his busy schedule to talk to us personally. The food is fantastic and the portions are HUUUUGE. So unless you're ready to eat half a pig or cow, stick with the ladies portions. You'll have a doggy bag to take home either way :-D

The best food and value for money your money.
Very valuable treasure place in Cape Town. Service is great, food also great. Please make sure u make a phone call before u come over here, they r too busy ^_____^ ribs is recommendation of this place. It is better to eat Chicken and pork schnitzel in the restaurant, the crispy taste is gone for take away.
Tiny restaurant with a menu filled with heydays favorites. Definitely worth a try if you're into comfort food. Ample portions of deliciousness!
