Review Bistro 44 - Paarl

David Enright
A good place for that quick burger stop. Sceptical of its Coca-Cola sponsored signs thinking it will be a bit of a dive, this place surprised us with pleasant food. The burgers are especially tasty with proper patties. Lots of sauce, spices and farmstall type products on sale as well. Pricing of some menu items seemed a bit strange. Pricing very close to pushing the restaurant into a upper and therefore tougher critiquing bracket. Fun little playground for kids.

Such a great stop. Staff are professional and service is efficient. There are quite a few tables so even if it looks busy from the outside there's still a good chance you'll get a seat. Food quality is also 5/5

We arrived at 8am on Sunday and the staff were absolutely friendly and ready to assist us. The food and views were amazing.

Restaurant meets farm stall. Great service. Tasty food (proper real wors). Biker friendly with specials for bikers on Saturdays. Family friendly - there's a nice jungle gym. Wheelchair friendly although the ramp seems a bit steep. Great views of you're sitting outside.

Bistro 44 provides a country experience, as they use homemade farm bread and the portions are huge. I can vouch for the following: chicken mayo, chicken mayo jaffle, scones and their pies are delicious. The farm stall also offers jams, honey, a biscuit selection, olives and honey.

Good value for money. The food is wholesome and plentiful. Martyn and his staff will make you feel at home. Lots of home made delicacies to take home as well. The home made chicken pies are legendary. A worthwhile stop to make on the R44. Enjoy!

I've always driven past this little place but, today I was so pleased that we stopped. Such delicious food! Perfect padstal atmosphere, they were super friendly to my little dog that I brought along. Do yourself a favour and stop here next time, delicious farm bread and chilli jam on sale. I Highly recommend the springbok pot ;)

Bistro 44 is conveniently situated next to the R44 just outside Wellington. My 4th visit and not dissapointed. We had jaffles and chips for lunch... very rustig. They have huge tasty pies, a variety of sauces and jams for sale as well. Always a pleasant stop over.

What a great impulsive choice to have lunch here. Fresh and hearty "kookkos". Traditional South African food like: stews, tripe, pies, boboti etc. all served with yellow rice. Good food for your buck!

We stopped here by chance and my goodness were we happy - the coffee is okay, the shop is okay but the scones... next level. I would highly recommend stopping here just for the scones - with fig jam - they are unbelievable. The owners should really specialize as a scone destination. Yum.
