Review Knead Bakery - Newlands

Knead Dean Street is under new management and is full Halaal. I have tried them a few times since their reopening and their food has been consistently amazing! They have a good variety of dishes suitable for both breakfast and lunch and they have really great coffee too! Also try their freshly baked breads - the Turkish loaf is my favourite! Definitely worth a visit! I will be a regular!

Food and service were great. The manager's really friendly. The size makes the seating seem a bit congested.

Great service and great food. My only issue with Knead is that it's pretty expensive.

On holiday and So glad we chose Knead as our breakfast spot. Plus, it was fully halaal. A quaint place , clean and cozy. We ordered a cheeseburger toasted chicken sarmie, pizza, 2 full breakfasts and the crispy chicken strips. Each item was prepared so well, generous portions and fresh cut chips. The grilled mushrooms were so lovely, and the toasted sandwich was perfectly proportioned. Not too much filling nor too little. There really was nothing to fault. Please keep it up and well done!

Both our meals were well presented, tasty and decent portion sizes. the sandwiches taken home was nice as well. loaf of Ciabata bread lacked salt. Service and facilities were great

Warm spot for breakfast and brunch, located adjacent to the Woolworths in dean street mall. Good coffee. Reasonably priced and interesting specials. Good options for vegetarians.

Very very seldom can I come to a place and experience excellent food AND excellent coffee... Just got both today and am so grateful I can just walk here when ever the mood grabs me.

Exceptional service, friendly staff and delicious food. Presentation of food was good and they were able to accommodate our party of 8 for my husband birthday. A big shukran to Jameel as well. Will definitely be returning soon.

My team and I went for a breakfast. The staff were friendly, patient and the food fresh and tasty. Food came out hot and fast following our ordering. I’m looking forward to my next visit. 😊

The shakshuka I had was very tasty. They have good coffee as well. I called 15 min ahead of time to reserve a table and they were able to accommodate. Very friend friendly staff

It has been a blessing having a now Halaal eatery close to our office. Loving the wide variety of meal options available; Breakfast on the days loadshedding get's the best of you or a quick team lunch! I would highly recommend the 'Chicken Red Pesto Mayo Toastie' (I prefer Ciabatta) but it's way better on Sourdough and ask for extra fresh chillies! The Pizza's today were amazing! Flavorful and in my opinion, value for money. The quality of the coffee is on point too! I'm still working my way through the menu but have not been disappointed yet. Thanks for the great service team Knead.

10/10 for absolutely everything. Manager and staff were extremely friendly , warm and welcoming. The vibe was calming and I'd definitely recommend giving this cute little place a visit.

First time at Knead, the service is great and they were very accommodating when we wanted to swop out certain items on their menu. Give their Mocha made with dark chocolate and espresso a try. I decided to buy their buttermilk rye bread to try at home, recommended by the very helpful owner and I was not disappointed. Will definitely go back.

I got this Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger the other day. It was so delicious. I’d give this 5 stars but the lack of basic condiments in takeaway bags was really disappointing and awkward. There were also no serviettes. I mean, that’s just awkward. 💀😹

Never got my food, so I cannot rate it. Just watched my dining partner eat. Eventually decided to leave. Overcharged at the till. Abusive manager. Overall awful experience, ghastly service and left hungry.

We had brunch here and it was good. I had poached eggs with avocado and hollandaise sauce. It was filling and tasty. I like the cosy place and the staff are lovely. I don't have any complaints. It was a good experience.

Knead seems to have a service issue across its branches ... which is a bit of a let down. The food is okay and I feel like the image of the store doesn’t correlate with their food. A little more love in the presentation and execution on the little things would make their food stand out. I think the large menu accommodating all tastes doesn’t help them stand out with signature dishes.

Cosy restaurant that serves amazing breakfast all day.The manager and staff were fantastic checking up on us and making sure we were really happy😊

I love Knead, because their food is generally wholesome, fresh and their portions are generous. My experience yesterday was no exception.

We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken as well as the toasted chicken red pepper pesto mayo sandwich.

The buttermilk fried chicken was served with slaw and sides. The mint in the slaw was overpowering. However, the actual buttermilk fried chicken strips were cooked to perfection - crispy, well-seasoned and soft on the inside. The sriracha mayo it was served with was delicious but definitely not enough!

The toasted chicken red pepper pesto mayo sandwich tasted great, but there was very little chicken on the sandwich - approximately 3 cubes per slice, which was disappointing. It was also served with fries.

Our waitress was really friendly and despite how busy the restaurant was, our food was served timeously - within 15 minutes. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare which is why I usually go to the other Knead branches, but overall this was a good experience.

Yum. My first word to say. I love this place for the oh so crispy baked rolls and bread and visit weekly for the fresh croissants. The price is right and awesome morning treat with some hot butter. Definitely worth a try if feeling for some fresh baked goodness.

The food is yummy as at any Knead, however the service is a bit bland and slow which is often characteristic of a restaurant that tiny (especially a popular franchise)

If it wasn't enough, i was prepared to overlook the cappuccino that I ordered as the service was so shockingly bad. One could just see that the poor lady at the till was counting down the hours for her shift to end. Unfortunately it was still breakfast time, so a loooong way to the end of her shift. Uninterested and lacking energy with barely a welcome greeting, i ordered a cappuccino and a take-away chicken mayo roll with coleslaw.

The roll was okay, actually quite enjoyable- however the coffee was insipid and lacked any flavour or depth. For a place that prides itself on their coffee, this was a horribly poor effort. This Knead branch won't be seeing me in a hurry!

Food is overpriced for what it is. Portion sizes are small and service is on the slow side. Quality of the food is decent and sitting outside is nice and chilled.

Had a Bacon and Brie Croissant which was incredible as was my partner's French Toast. This was the second time we went and both times the manager personally came to say hi and see how we were doing. Thanks to the management and staff!

WOW! What miserable staff this place hires.. the lady the 'waiters' here is so sour the food is tainted. No smile, no hello, just a what you want to drink and brutally clears the table.
Aside from that, the food is Knead. Good, tasty and not over priced. Great coffee at the Newlands branch.
Time take from order to table is a little slow, but I guess it really is an overgrown bakery / coffee shop

Rather disappointing experience compared to the awesome visits I've made to some of the other Knead branches. We were one of 3 occupied tables in the entire cafe and the service we received would have been understandable of a popular restaurant operating at full capacity on a Friday night. We hardly saw our waitress and when we did, she was unfamiliar with the menu. It took longer than necessary to bring a cappuccino and chai tea. What's more, after waiting very long for our food, it became clear that someone forgot about my sourdough bread in the toaster. The veggie mix topping was very tasty but was unfortunately on top of very burnt slices of toast. If I wanted to eat charcoal I would have ordered it. The only thing keeping me from rating this Knead lower is the fact that the waitresses and manager were so sweet. But they are clearly suffering from a serious service and efficiency problem.

Won't be hurrying back soon.

Pit stop for a quick coffee and delicious home made cakes. I prefer the Dean street branch as its away from the crowds and discreetly tucked away at the end of the corridor. You never feel rushed and there's Jumbo burger I've had before it also a perfect filler.

Their menu has a few classic favourites however the service is incredibly slow and the chance of getting your order wrong is rather high. However when it does actually arrive it is a good breakfast.

Excellent service and great for a quick and tasty breakfast . One of the best out of the Knead chain of restaurants . The early bird breakfast specials are a treat for those on a budget .

I love this quaint little Knead. The service was lovely, there was only one waiter who was pleasant and friendly as well as the owner who was constantly making sure everyone was being served and having little chats with each table.

I had a fresh mango juice that was refreshing, I love places that offer fresh juices. To eat I decided have a treat which the brioche French toast with Nutella and fried bananas. It was delicious and I was a big portion so I couldn't finish it.

Definitely recommend this Knead, its the best one I have been to.

I have been to Knead over three times in the last week and each experience has been an absolute pleasure. Twice, i managed to get a sneaky breakfast in before my 8 AM lecture and the other time i managed to meet a colleague for lunch. The food was excellent all three times and i found Knead to be the ideal place to get some of my emails and admin related things done for the week. It radiates a very relaxing environment and produces an extremely comfortable space and as a result i can foresee my early morning breakfast missions continuing into the foreseeable future.

Their early bird special represents fantastic value for money and so does their all day burger special.

On a side note, if you planning on having a pizza evening you can pre-order bases from Knead ahead at a very reasonable price.

I always enjoy going to Knead, and it seems each branch is as good as the next. Their freshly baked breads and pastries are always a winning choice and their chicken and mushroom pie is a firm favorite!! I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a great breakfast or lunch spot! They serve breakfast ALL day!!

Had my birthday breakfast at knead, my bestie and I. Me being the safe, never wanting to step out of her comfort breakfast of bacon and eggs zone, opted for the eggs benedict with extra mushrooms on the side. A step in the right direction, was soo good and filling and fresh and NO extra seasoning was needed! The waitress was friendly and immediatley took our drinks orders upon arrival, which then arrived a VERY short while later:) the food wait was not long at all. Nice touch as the manager came to check up on us during the meal , even though they were quite busy.Highly recommended!!

The shop is a lot smaller than the Claremont branch and the natural light was missed, but it's conveniently situated in Dean street and still cosy. My friend and I both had a Grande cappuccino and the Eggs Benedict with bacon and some extra mushrooms. The portions are generous, food tastefully seasoned and my eggs were done just right. The staff were friendly and the manager checked up on us during our meal. Overall a pleasant visit.

So impressed by their breakfast special! A friend and I went for breakfast the other day and for two meals and 4 large cappuccinos the bill came to about R96! They offer gluten free bread which is such a bonus also!

I automaticly love places that are already open at 7am. and im already a huge fan of the knead franchise. Had my usual dirty chai latte and it was everything i expected. Store is clean and staff is friendly and has big smiles that early already. Makes for a good start to your day

I must be honest, I haven't been a big fan in the past. But, my flat was getting painted so popped here for breakie. I am a huge fan of breakfast pizzas, the one I had here was the best one I have EVER had. Now that Primi have stopped theirs, I will definitely be back here. Get an extra egg. At R80, not cheap, but I believe it is worth every bite. Rustic style with sausage, bacon, eggs and lots of cheese etc. It was so yummy. The Newlands one is small but comfy, situated in a really small shopping centre next to a woolies. Coffee was good, had the giant cappuccino ( with a double shot ). Not sure of the brand, which I usually ask about. Can't wait to go back. They do a wheat free base which is cool but I had the original Italian style. Pizza for breakfast for the win!

The perfect weekend breakfast spot! Coffee is delicious and the breakfast menu is full of deliciously good options! The service is the only questionable aspect - but nothing too terrible that it will ruin your meal! Simple food that is good enough for any self-confessed foodie

Maxine Pier Esterhuyse and I popped in for a quick coffee and a croissant during lunch break. The venue is nice, small and simple! The coffee is pretty decent and the croissants filled with marzipan. Consistency is lacking though. Different days see different results. The service was a bit disjointed if I'm going to be nice. But all in all not too shabby

We often go to Knead after a walk in the forest - love their early morning special- excellent value and healthy! The coffee is also great and the bread is my favorite !

The breakfast special is superb. We normally have coffee and the Bircher muesli and it is wonderful value for money. Service is good but I do find it a little cramped in the small space when it's very full. Great local spot!

A favourite breakfast spot of ours if we manage to get organised before heading to church.

Good food, friendly staff and in all the times we've been there, we've never had a bad experience.

Small cute shop for a quick cuppa or meal. Good service. Average food. We had their special burger of the day/week and it was a roll with a pattie, gherkins and onions- that's all. Won't be going back. Wanted to use our Entertainer App and they said no.
