Calistos is one of our fav restaurants, the food is always great and the service is just as good as the food! We ordered a delicious garlic cheese roll to share but unfortunately didn't take pics as was too delicious to wait for pics, we devoured it the second it hit the table LOL prawns and calamari combi is our go to. 10/10 ❤️

We were surprised to see the variety of dished on their menu. We could choose from a lot of dishes falling in our dietary choice, all at very affordable prices. The atmosphere is very nice and everything is neat and in its place. I will definitely come back to try something different next time.

Beautiful and relaxing place. Food was delicious. The waiter forgot to bring our rolls on our recent visit and that was disappointing since we had taking our mom out and she requested them. 😔

I had the 300g rump steak with cheese sauce plus with a side of salad. And my oh my this is where you can say you get your meals worth 😁 the waiters were super kind and professional. And the best names for shots that will leave you laughing 😂 I would definitely recommend this to anyone who hasn't tried a proper steak in their life, honestly Spur has got some competition. Over all this is definitely a 5 star service and meal. 10/10.

The waiter Marvelous was nothing short of brilliant in terms of customer service and putting a group of 11 perfectly togther tucked on the paito. The starts were really amaizng and fresh and the mains kept every bell happy. Well done to the management staff, you have something to be proud of here guys.

Love love this restaurant. The food is amazing I just wish they had cake slices (not cheese cake) , the staff is very kind. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I'll definitely be a regular.

We went there for Christmas lunch and what a great experience. From the moment we stepped in, the staff was friendly and helpful. Service was fast & on point. The food was delicious. And a special thanks to our waitress Bridget. Thank you for making our Christmas lunch special. Your service was excellent.

We had the best time celebrating our sis birthday. The staff were friendly and the food was too tooooo delicious. The homely vibe made us forget that we were out 🤤😅

The food was average. Lacking flavor. The chicken breast was really dry. The mushroom sauce looked like it stood for a long time before it was served. The salad looked like it was cut in advance and left. The prawn was overcooked. Service was really slow.

Unimpressive. Service was poor and food bland and overpriced. “Original” Caipirinha made with Mainstay, vodka and tonic????? Not the best “Portuguese” experience I have ever had.

We went to Calisto's to celebrate Fathersday with the family. It was such a treat. I can really recommended the seafood platter for one, it gives you a taste of everything, and it's even enough to share if you had a starter. Their peri-peri sauce is delicious with anything! The service was excellent. Tumi was friendly and professional. Lovely experience overall. Thanks guys!

Great family restaurant with good hearty food. Ask your waiter for recommendations and definitely try the seafood starters. The Apple daiquiri was the cherry on top

The steak and prawn combo is just delicious! Also tried out the calamari and that was equally good. It has a very homely kind of atmosphere and the service is always efficient

Date night with the Mrs. Short And sweet, it was fantastic. We shared a trinchado starter which was tasty. Rump was Tender and cooked to perfection They have a half chicken and 3 queen prawn special that is great value for money and it was delicious. After our bottle of Gazela was done in we were very happy with our experience.Staff are friendly and the ambiance was pleasant. Keep it up guys, we will definitely be back soon

Booked for an early dinner after a show, needless to say the show absolutely terrible and we decided to have our dinner even earlier! Always enjoy Calisto's as i know the brand and quality that goes with it.
Slight hiccup on arrival with waitrons being a bit confused on whether we had a res or not - eventually got sorted and thank goodness we were be assisted by a very knowledgeable and humble waiter, which made us soon forget! Love Love Love the food here, dare i even say i think this is better than the original spot in Gillview??? Prawns to perfection....... and fat! steaks tasty and pasta delicious.

Calisto's has a welcoming vibe and the restaurant is quite spacious with a good lay out. We chose this restaurant as part of "Date night for two". To start we were given complimentary bread rolls with the famous Calisto's relish..so delicious with the buttered roll! For mains we ordered the chicken prego with chips and the grilled chicken breasts. We really enjoyed both of them. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the basting was delicious and the chips were done just right. For dessert we had the creme caramel and ice-cream with chocolate sauce both of which were average.

The good food was slightly marred by the service. Our waiter was unfriendly and we felt as if we were being an inconvenience to him. Other than this the food was surprisingly good.

Always been a fan of this franchise and it was another treat to come here. I was only peckish so I opted for their giblets starter and grilled halloumi. I expected a little more with the giblets as they were served in a broth that was bland, almost like just water and salt and the colour was closer to grey which is not an appetising colour. No one else on my table of 9 complained as they enjoyed their various meals from baby chicken (made with the best handmade chips ever tasted) seafood platter and ot was topped off with a great birthday song for my friend. They have a great presence of friendly staff who were very accommodating.

Great restaurant for espetadas, prawns and other seafood, have not been disappointed. Our family loves this place and regularly have oysters there.

We came here Saturday(14Jan) night for dinner and as much as i was looking forward to it i was disapointed, everything started out well but after we ordered drinks it all went downhill from there.
We waited exactly an hour and a half for our dinner even though the place wasnt that busy, we got no explanation as to why it was taking so long and our waitress was missing in action. Our food arrived after what seemed forever! The food was average but i wouldnt say it was worth the wait.

Came by for a late lunch on Sunday. The waiter who served us was very friendly and took our orders quite quickly. We ordered the cheesy garlic roll as a starter, and boy was it good! The tangy lemon garlic sauce was divine but it could of done with a little more cheese (you can never have too much). We then ordered chicken prego's with chips for our mains. They arrived and looked yummy! Unfortunately we only realized after having a few bites that the waiter had swapped the mild and the hot (not cool!). The chicken was a little salty, I think that's what happens when you cook the sauce? Not so pleasant to eat. The chips were good and well seasoned and the chili sauce available on the table was pretty good too.. also, if you're looking for a nice strong, tasty cappuccino this is the place to go.

Awesome 1kg prawns with peri peri butter. They were perfectly cooked and separated easily from the shell. Table peri peri jam was very tasty.

If a manager of this branch Jackie cannot make a spot on decision then she's not a manager she's a supervisor. At a table of 7 ppl we requested a very large order as 7 people would. In the interim we finished a medium size table chillie, which is not enough for 7 ppl. We requested another chillie and were told that we are not allowed another one. We called the "manager" Jackie and she condescendingly informed us that we r only allowed 1 chillie. Wen we asked about 2 ppl having a chillie an 4 ppl having a chillie surely 7 ppl r entiled to more than 1 chillie Jackie's condescending response was "sorry this is the instruction an i do as im told". And made absolutely no attempt to find a solution. Her attitude was completely dismissive. MANAGER??? Seriously. Your service is thumbs down.

Very disappointing, spent a lot of money at this establishment to get bad service and unwillingness to accommodate! Service was extremely slow and their so called "signature" dish was very very disappointing! A big let down!

Whenever I go to a particular Portuguese restaurant for the first time, I will always order their Caldo Verde soup. If the soup tastes great, only then will I order a main course. Unfortunately, the Caldo Verde soup I ate here was absolutely tasteless and very disappointing. Normally, the chorizo added to this soup will impart the smokey flavour, which pairs well with the potato and leeks, but this was not the case here. As a result, I did not order a main course and I will not go back.

The half kilo prince prawns were well worth the R139.95, served with lemon butter and a choice of one side. Nice family restaurant in the square at Silverstar Casino.

The espetada looked great and I thoroughly enjoyed the kingklip thermador I had. They made an extra effort for three people celebrating birthdays and the whole restaurant sang along. It was a really cold evening and the heating inside could have been better.

We created our own platter, livers and calamari were awesome however the prawns were overcooked and dry! Sangria was delicious! Service was great!
Very nice restaurant. Great atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff. Overall not to bad, cheaper than spur but a bit pricey for the average person (cheaper than spur)

The food was ok. Not the best I've ever had. I'm sure I can make better food at home

The sauces they sell are superb though. I would recommend them and they are very reasonably priced

Will not go there again out of free will but maybe when invited by friends

Nothing like the flagship store but just as good an experience. We were greeted with a smile, served with efficiency (our waiter understood our distressed call for wine..) and the food was fantastic.(I even attempted the homemade chilli served with fresh Portuguese rolls. It was so good I bought a bottle to take home.)
Lunch served with a great bottle of rose included grilled haloumi, chicken livers, curry and trinchado. Every dish was cooked perfectly and if allowed, we would have licked our plates clean.

Desserts were also sampled and apart from a comment about the chocolate cake being too dark, thumbs up all round.

I did have a flashback to the days when we went to Calistos to drink tequila and consume prawns in the company of good looking reprobates..my how we have grown up!

Love Calistos and if at Silverstar this restaurant is always a safe bet for fabulous peri peri chicken and awesome chilli, good service too, recommended

I always have their mushroom steak every time I'm here, service is not too bad either. The outside sitting has great ambience. Their fast wifi is a cherry on top

We went to go watch a show at Silver Star and afterwards decided that we would go to Calisto's to grab a bite to eat. The staff were very friendly and they gave us a spot where we could look out onto the piazza (if I can call it that).

The kitchen was very quick and we had our meals within 15 minutes of ordering. I had the prawn and chicken curry which I quite enjoyed. My brother and stepmom both had the espetada which they said were done to perfection. My dad the fish and squid heads which he also really enjoyed. The ingredients were fresh and it was all done very nicely.

The only problem I had was that there were a number of items on the menu that they didn't have in stock. Surely you should take that into account?

Service has improved since our last visit - restaurant was quite busy for a Thursday night. I had the Mozambican Prawn Curry, which was delicious and my friend had the Kingklip Thermidor, which she said was a winner. The only thing I could fault them on is that the music was too loud and that they should have a better choice of house wines...
Marcel Basson
The service was good and the food was fulfilling. There was a bit of a delay in the kitchen, but overall good service from the manager and our waiter.

We each a solid, well executed meal and had a overall good experience. They have all the Portuguese classics and The complementary bread rolls were especially good

After reading the reviews I was a little tentative to come for lunch but all I can say is WOW!!! Service was incredible due to our waiter Tish who was so attentive and did not miss a beat. Food was incredible just like the South. Will definitely be coming back again soon. Thank you!! Cameron Purdon Ryan Purdon

The west rand has a few good spots. Haven't been here before but had a good meal and pretty good service. An enjoyable evening out. Try the prawns or Espetada!

Being a public holiday Silverstar was packed & so too the restaurants. We therefore had to grab a table at the first place we could find one. This means we never checked Zomato to check out this restaurant. Oooops. After we checked we doubted our choice but we open minded enough to give them a chance.

However, we got a table outside, right in front of the water fountains that the children all love playing in. It was great and our pram was no hinderance. Our waiter, Daniel, was friendly, helpful, attentive & did a great job for us.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, it was packed to the hilt, noisy and pleasant if a bit cramped.

We had a garlic roll (soaked in butter & garlic) & it was delicious. The Greek salad was crispy, full of cheese & dressing, very nice. The Chourico sausage was a bit small & not flambéd with aguardiente but very tasty.

My wife had calamari and really enjoyed it & I had a prawn curry. It was pretty damn good. I enjoyed it very much. Creamy, spicy, not hot at all, rich in colour & really good.

We wrapped up with a tartufo & it was okay. Sweet, cool & nice.

Overall we had a good experience & our food and service was good & we didn't regret our visit.

I heard good reports over the years so was looking forward to going. Greasy squid head starter cooked in old oil, fish and salad no chips for main. Thr fish tasted old, the batter was horrible and greasy and the salad was not fresh and was tastleless. I did not want to make a scene in front of my guests so paid and left. The worst meal I have ever had in a restaurant.
I have only had amazing meals at Calistos. The tempura prawns for starters are the best!! I thoroughly enjoyed my steak and the second time I had ribs. Delish!
Ciska Landman
We were a bit disappointed. Expected more. The atmosphere was nice and the waiters friendly. Service was a bit slow and they did not have a few things we wanted to order. The food was really just average.
Good placing at Silverstar casino. If you have kids, great for them to enjoy themselves on the water sprays. Satff and management are friendly and attentive. Sadly, that's where it ends. The food is the furtherst from Portuguese food. Bland and tasteless. The giblets where tender, served in a marinade that resembles 2 minute packets from the supermarket shelves. The seafood platter for two, while a decent serving, has no relevance to Portuguese marinades either. Looking at the clientele and the reviews/ratings on Zomato, Calisto's is obviously missing the boat. I agree with most reviews....always full and I don't know why....albeit, not with Portuguese patrons.

It was a great evening, we were greeted by friendly staff, service was great the meals are good. The kids played outside in water fountains, and ran around with other kiddies . we as adults could sit enjoy our dinner and also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and good vibe the restaurant had offered. We will go again!
