The food was very well prepared and the staff and the chef was very friendly and attentive. The bread was hot and definitely something I would recommend.
Love this place, no frills braai cooking with the sand between your toes. Great views and a chilled atmosphere.

We were looking for a ideal place to have a nice dinner while enjoying the perfect view of the ocean and I am glad we came here. It is very close to Santos-Express.
We were welcomed by friendly and conversational owner who not only helped us out in choosing the menu but also gave us brief history of this restaurant. It was a bit chilly and the owner made sure we were kept warm by providing us with quilts. Th ambiance is rustic and basic. The whole vibe suits for a perfect evening. We ordered couple of beers and Savana dry to enjoy with our meal. We had Toasted Sandwich (Cheese,Tomato&Onion), Lamb Braai Pack & Chicken Potjie. All the dishes were made exceptional good with a nice homely touch to it. In the end we enjoyed our stay in Mossel Bay and this dinner added a good memories of this lovely place.
Yussis. What a lekker vibe. We went earlier in the year when it was still warm and just enjoyed the rustic simplicity that kaai 4 braai brings. Roostekoek to blow your sock off at a giveaway price and all this while being literally on the waters edge. I wouldnt go on a rainy day and don't expect it to be a restaurant so to speak. Its more or a self service town style eatery. A unique experience to say the least.
A Harbour restaurant with a bit of a twist. Their menu is interesting and very affordable. I had their Muscle Pot with Roosterbrood, made with cream and white wine, it was very yummy and their roosterbrood was amazing. I do feel it would probably be vibier at night with some live music and a cocktail menu.
Karin 4 Braai is a rough and ready gem in Mosselbaai. It reminds me of a restaurant next to the sea on the West Coast. The braai dishes are well done, roosterkoeke to die for and the whole ambiance is that of a lekker relaxing outing place. The friendly and talkative owner is also a pleasure. Worth a visit for sure.
With the harbor on one side and a beautiful view of Santos beach on the other, Kaai 4 Braai really has a unique space and feel, one that reminds you of a beach bar somewhere in paradise.
The food is good, traditional south african cuisine, your drink list is limited to your standard bottled drinks so no cocktails unfortunately.
The service could be a lot better, we had issues with out food tickets as did someone else that same night.
Overall a awesome place and definitely a place I would recommend going to!
I love Mosselbaai, the place is so unpretentious, caravan and trailer park has all of the front row beach views, then this place for instance, Kaai Braai, no waiters you order from the till, so chilled but great food and then some food including braaibroodjies from R20 so there are pensioners and students and holidayers all enjoying the beautiful scenes, delish braai style food and awesome vibes with Coldplay and radiohead type music, too awesome!!! Love it!! O and nice little place for kiddies to play, we will definitely be back!
What an amazing experience! The only food you can order is braai food and its delish! The rooster koeke is to die for and everything was braaied really good! Its right next to the ocean and you can kick off your sandals and put your feet in the sand. The vibe is really great and there is even a fire that you can sit next to! Loved it!
I can't stop raving about this place's amazing hospitality (from the moment ypu walk in), incredibly tasty food (the mussel pot will be in your daydreams for weeks) and best of all... the setting! imagine sand under your feet, a cold cider in your hands while looking out on gorgeous blue skies and blue ocean, seeing the seals on Seal Island and spotting the occasional whale (between May and Nov)... I can't wait to go back!
Wow what an experience! We've been comming to Mosselbay for years now and this was our first visit! Absolute superb musselpot (halfshell mussels..white wine..onion...garlic and cream sauce) with the most yummy roosterkoek spread with farm fresh butter all on a bed of rice served with a mini side salad! Yumm perfection! Will definitly come here again! Actually dissapointed that this was our fist time here! Lovely hosts aswell and friendly staff xx welldoneGerhard Bredenhann
It is a fun braai place with a great setting. You have a great view of the ocean and at the perfect seating you can even see into the ocean. The food is nothing fancy but it is done great. It is a fun place for a “different” experience but I can also see that it will not be for everyone.
I would recommend a try for sure as I find it good.

Wow! What a great experience and the staff team were beyond friendly, attentive and eager to recommend and make sure you have a great time. Everything cook right in the open fire in front in the middle of the restaurant with best view of the ocean. Nothing better with braai, beer and sand overlooking the water. A must in the area!
Down to earth, easy going braai place next door to the ocean. I like the concept, reminds me of beer garden in Munich. You order at the bar and take your stuff to one of the tables on the sand terrace, where you enjoy the view and chats with other guest. The staff is friendly and our food (grilled hake) was great.
Great food, especially the Roosterkoek that came straight off the braai and cute little play area for the kiddies. Beautiful views surrounding you while you eat.
Prices are a bit high but service is good. If it rains, it's not a good idea to come here, since it rains through the covered area. I wish they also had some gluten free options too
It is a very rustic and basic down to earth restaurant with a spectacular and unbeatable setting. Had the lamb curry potjie which was absolutely divine, try it, you will not regret it! Portions are generous. The only let down is that, because of the open fire pit in the middle of the establisment, you may reek of smoke depending on the direction of the wind. The fire adds to the atmosphere, but be wise and choose a table far away from it. It is however a small price to pay and the experience remains one to be savoured. Recommended!
I recently visited Kaai 4 restaurant for the first time on the recommendation of my husband, and I must say it was an amazing experience. The lovely outside atmosphere with the fires going, sand under our feet, calm sea, and seagulls playing in the background was truly enchanting.
The friendly service and great food made our visit even more delightful. The prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food was exceptional. I particularly enjoyed the braaied garlic butter hake, with salad & roosterkoek, which was cooked to perfection. My husband loved the Chicken pot (with rice, salad & roosterkoek) so much that he went back for it.
The vibe was truly lekker and added to the overall wonderful experience. We can't wait to visit again soon and enjoy the delicious food and ambiance.

Great location... the ocean is right in front of you. Braaivleis and roosterkoek, delicious!! Service is great and the most friendly staff.
Looked a little dodgey from the outside, but food was great. The staff were all friendly and explained the menu well. Ordering must be done at the counter and can take a little while if busy. The best rooster brood I've ever had.
Best burger ever!
The kitchen was actually already closed when we arrived. But they made an excep and we could still order some food. We got the Kaai Burger with cheese and the Lamb braai with amazing sausage and chicken. And the bread that came with it was so tasty!
The restaurant is self-service. Order at the bar and get your food served at the table. We got our wines served in mugs haha. It was 2 glasses in 1 mug for the price of 1. Best buy!
We loved the people, atmosphere at the beach with the fire of the braai and little lights.
Excellent location and vibe with brilliant food. We can highly recommend the freshly made roosterkoek. They braai and rooster right in the middle of the place, the open fire adding to the beach vibe of the place. You sit on benches in the sand, shaded with palm leaves.
Tasty roosterkoek, ice cold beer, and your toes in the sand makes this quite a fun restaurant experience.
Ordering everything at the bar on the allocated table number works much more smoothly than I had anticipated. Placing the number in a convenient spot where the runners can see it is advisable if you want to receive your food speedily.
The toilets are at the boat club quite some way from the actual restaurant. So a word of advice would be not to wait until the last moment if you have got to go.
A twist to your normal restaurants. You have a the harbor next to you and you can look out over the sea, with a fire in the background to give you a lekker vibe. Old school way of going to order your food and drinks from the bar and then it is brought to you. But proper SA style food.
Brilliant place and awesome food! Loved the concept but in good weather it'll be amazing. The bartender was very helpful and the portions were good. Roosterbrood here is definitely something to have and although its a bit flat it was still amazing. We had the hake, which is the parcel wrapped and the boerewors with a smoortjie. Delicious!
We came here on a Sunday afternoon when it much much more relaxed than usual. We were so surprised at the friendly staff as well as the delicious food!
If you're in Mossel Bay and feel like braaied meat...this is the place to go.
The portions are generous, the flavour is great and the view of the bay is stunning.
They also offer a local beer on tap for the beer enthusiasts.
