Review Route 62 Brewing Company - Montagu

Decent selection of craft beers served deliciously cold. Staff were friendly and engaging, and the food was superb (the pizza was huge and the chicken salad was so tasty). Well priced and a nice location in the cute little town of Montagu. Would definitely recommend.

Nice addition to Montagu. Good location/setting and the beer is pretty good as well. Personally though, I would prefer to rather not being served by children. No offence intended. Next time, I will bring friends along and definitely try something off their menu as well.

Relaxed with good food and drink, nice service - good value

Went here for waffles with my friends for waffles. We sat outside, beautiful shade protecting us from the heat. The few times we have been there the manger has been kind to us, even going as far as showing us where the beer is made and telling us about each brew. (Most of the beer is flavored which might not be everyone’s preference) The savory waffle though having my doubts about them is my favorite kind of waffle in this place. The plain ice cream waffles have 4 big scopes of ice cream and are big. (The people we were with couldn’t finish their waffles, I would suggest that less ice cream is served in future.) We had a “crunch waffle” though being R25 more that the plain waffle this had no difference to it, other than a broken up crunchy chocolate at the top, which I was a bit upset by. Otherwise the staff are friendly, the owner is nice and welcoming and the beer is a success in my eyes.

If you are a lover of craft beer and find yourself on route 62 then do yourself a favour and stop at the Route 62 Brewing Company in Montagu. All their beers are brewed on site, and we decided to do a tasting before ordering a pint. Their beer range includes a Pale Ale, Irish Red Ale, English Ale and a Brown Ale - I enjoyed the English Ale the most, but the rest of the group preferred the Irish Red Ale. Unfortunately we arrived too late the Friday afternoon (after 15:00) so their kitchen was already closed, but their menu has a wide variety of waffles (savoury and sweet) that looked pretty interesting. They have a nice courtyard where we could sit and enjoy our beers, but they also have space inside for those cold days. Their passion for their beers really shows and I am glad we stopped there.

Truly a wonderful time spent at Route 62 Brewing Company. If i didnt notice the sign along Long Street i wouldve completely missed this gem. Awesome knowledgeable welcoming staff. Saying I felt right at home would be an understatement. Beautiful venue, cold delicious beer and the waffles are absolutely exquisite. A stop to be added to anyone's list if they find themselves passing through Montagu.

Had a lovely platter for two and our friends the best burgers. Their beer on tap is excellent.

Popped in to watch the springbok rugby game! Excellent vibes, great value beers, g+t and platters. Really really impressed. Please get a large screen TV, the vibe was pumping!

My wife and I were driving through Montagu and decided to stop at this small and charming brewery. They offer both beer and cider, and each of these are quite drinkable. I personally recommend the ESB.

They are open and trading! We drove past and were pleased to see they pub was open for business. Beer is great and food is amazing. A real small, family owned brewery with that special intimate touch.

Best cheeseburgers ever! And then comes THE best waffles! Cant decide which is the best! Will visit again for sure!

Enjoyed the beer, was slightly disappointed with the fact that the beer is not brewed locally (Off-site brewery), but the snacks we are we're fantastic with a very enthusiastic server!

Wow did these guys blow us away with their platter for 2! Great, fall off the bone chicken wings and ribs. Awesome flavour and value! The Cape Pale Ale wasn't too bad either. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back again! Keep it up guys, just awesome!!

Really great vibe and food. I had the Welsh Rarebit waffle and it was delicious. The pale ale is also incredible! Certainly worth a visit. The staff were relaxed, friendly and attentive.
