Review The Mystic Tin - Montagu

Very relaxed restaurant with great service by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of wines and very nice menu. Quality well prepared food served at reasonable prices. A must when visiting Malmesbury. We will certainly return.

A great place to eat in Montagu. Ample seating indoors or out in lovely garden. Food was delicious with local fare to choose from and very reasonably priced. Even during stage 6 load shedding and the staff under tremendous pressure it was a great dinner!

Came here just before the pandemic. Great setting, staff were ever so helpful and friendly and the food was amazing. When we go back to Montague later this year this will be a definite visit and possibly more than.once

Very nice relaxed place to sit and enjoy montagu. Great toasted sandwich and burgers, we always enjoy the back garden so much we stay for a cappuccino.

Lovely garden area. It was raining so we sat inside. The farm breakfast was delicious and filling. The coffee is also good. Friendly owners and staff.

I'm writing this review while it's still fresh in mind. Deciding on this restaurant for lunch, my friend and i decided to go and support the new owners. We are locals. We picked a table on the grass. What was notable was the fact that there where only one table of locals with their dogs there. The waitress was having a chat with them and didn't even glance in our direction. This went on for about 5 min. My friend went off to the restrooms, and still no hello I'll be with you in a second. Another couple came in and where helped immediately. My friend returned from the restrooms, and asked the other waitress for some service, to which he got the reply they will be with us when she's finished serving a coffee. No smile, with a frown on the face she then proceeded to ignore us as well. 15 minutes later, with only two other tables that has already been helped, we decided to leave knowing that no one were interested in our custom. This is a sad day to an establishment that used to be on top with the food that it served and the excellent service. I will also add this. I'm a person of color and my friend is white, and I'm now asking myself whether this is the reason why we were totally ignored. To the owner I can only ask the following Do you value your locals, because there will come a time again when tourist season is over and you will have to rely on your locals? I cannot write a review on your food today, which I'm sure would have been good, reading your other reviews, but I will say this, if the service and the stand offish attitude that we received from your waitress is anything to go by, I would urge interracial couples / people of colour to stay away from here if you don't want to feel as belittled as I was today.
