Review Ocean Basket Stoneridge - Modderfontein

We went for the Calamari double up. The meal was fantastic. We had one grilled and one fried - and shared. It was like having two different meals! Both were perfectly cooked and delicious. And such a generous helping! Service was excellent. KK, our waiter, was attentive, well informed, and had a great sense of humour. Really a good evening out.

Food is generally great at ocean basket but ... Service is kinda bad and unfriendly and we received our dessert cold only one of us recieved it warm 🙈 but maybe it was a bad day I'd still go back 😂

My wife and I really enjoyed the food here. We came here for early lunch and ordered the seafood platter for two. Everything on the platter was cooked to perfection. If you're on a carb diet, the stir fries is a great option as a side. We will definitely be back when we feel for a seafood feast.

The best. Speedy service, great food(nice and hot) and ambiance. Not too packed maybe I went on a good day but overall i had a great experience. If you feel like nice prawns i highly reccomend

We went on Valentine's Day, and it was extremely busy. But our lovely waitron Lorraine not only told us upfront about delays and kept us informed throughout the night, she provided excellent service and took care of us. She also had a lovely sense of humour. We were so impressed.

The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the food and service previously was good. So we decided to give it another try, with a visitor from abroad. And this time around it was absolutely horrible. The calamari steak was over done and rubbery, tasted burnt. The hake was really old and dry. The lemon butter sauce was just lemon sauce. The prawns was over cooked and stuck to the shell. The sushi was small and prepared terribly. And I hate it when an employee tells me at a franchise that I have been going to for 10 odd years that this is how it is always done. And talks down to me and treat me like I have no cooking clue what I am saying. I even offered him to try a piece of the fish and he refused and said he does not eat fish? You work at a fish place but can’t sample and know if the food is good or bad. They did resend us some calamari tubes to compensate for the calamari steak but it lacked flavour completely. Very disappointing. From a loyal patron.

The only beef(although they serve fish) I have and always have had, is those wooden circular place mats things are pretty disgusting, like wooden toilet seats. Not hygenic. I remove them always. They are very tatty, and I mentioned it but as usual the waitress nods in agreement and it left there..thats all. Otherwise I love OB...

As a family we often frequented many an Ocean Basket but on the last two visits to Stoneridge it has been appalling. Gone are the healthy servings and prices have sky rocketed. Had lunch on Monday with only one other table in the restaurant and was highly disappointed. They will never see me back again.

Waitress was inexperienced and didnt give a good service. I ordered fish bites for the kids and 2 of them felt sick and they threw up when we got home

Ordered sushi and the rice was rock hard. Either old or undercooked. Not impressed.

Stoneridge Ocean basket is very well located for accessibility in parking and location. The service was good but the price of what you pay and what you get are becoming a rip off. I am referring to the prawns - the prince prawns are not value for money due to their size those are baby prawns and until they do something about it I'm afraid they won't be seeing us again.

Loved the white sangria, food was fresh and well prepared and presented.

I ordered the Famous Fish and half chips and half rice special for R35. The portions were generous and the special includes 2 portions of fish. The waiter was professional and maintained good hygiene protocol. Well done, Ocean Basket: Stoneridge 👏

Our waiter Mandla was attentive and service was quick. Our food was nice, my husband really enjoyed his selections. My rice was a little undercooked. Overall a good experience. My daughter was disappointed that the Mississippi Mud Pie is no longer on the menu.

Terrible food and service, served our food with what seemed to be a lumpy, acidic sauce, food was incredibly cold and calamari 3 way cajun was coated in a blanket of spice making it inedible. Orderd a side salad that was drenched in dressing. Waiter made it worse by complaining about the tip, infornt of us, telling us how he deserves more than what we gave him. Unfortunately, I have had one too many incidents at this ocean basket, won't be returning. #ByeFelicia

The food has always been good here. I've been here many times over the years. I was here last week when I almost walked out because it was VERY busy and we were almost not noticed by anyone BUT then a waiter actually came after me outside the restaurant and sorted out a table. Hence I'm back a week later. Service today was very good. I like that the food is always consistent. I am very critical with regards to seafood and I'm glad to say I'm a loyal customer of this branch because the food is always of good standard.

Took 50 minutes for them to give me my order, and on top of it the one order was wrong, as well as they did not include the lemon butter which I requested. WORST OF ALL THE FOOD WAS COLD!! Extremely poor! :-(

Hardly any of a turn out for a Saturday afternoon yet there were heavy delays on drinks, food, bills, take-aways. Proved right as I never expected anything better. Sloppy service all round. Paul Habib III

I regularly visit this branch in the area with family for an easy lunch. We usually have the same waitress which is extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. The manager is always friendly and checking that everything is fine.<br/><br/>In general, ocean basket doesn't cater very well for vegetarians so you are able to have greek salad, halloumi cheese (grilled or friend - try cajun if you wish), chips, side vegetables and some sushi. <br/><br/>It would be nice if there was a wider variety of meals available for vegetarians such as spanakopita, saganaki, moussaka or pita with hummus and other dips.<br/><br/>Otherwise, I am happy with the quality of the food here as it is consistent.

We regularly visit this establishment when in the Greenstone shopping precinct. We have had some great meals at this venue but I was totally disappointed when I tried having a meal there.<br/>They were experiencing a power failure when I arrived for lunch. It was disappointing to learn that an establishment in such a big shopping centre does not have adequate back-up power as bank card facilities were not working and certain items were not on the menu due to the power failure.<br/>I'm disappointed that in 2017 Ocean Basket Stoneridge does not have a fall back plan.

Decor is clean and fresh.<br/>Service is good.<br/>Manage none existent.<br/>Food is yummy especially the salmon salad.<br/>It's pricey, we seldom pay less that 700 for two.<br/>All round good experience.

Stopped for lunch. It was quite empty but we really felt like seafood. Gotta platter for two and I had sushi as a starter. Food was overcooked and service could do with a little work.

Our preferred Ocean Basket in Edenvale - by far superior service to the one in Eden Meadows. Food is consistently good, service is decent and overall it's a solid dining experience.

I agree with previous reviewers. It may be a small branch but it does live up to good food. The service could do with a bit of improving though.

Of the many ocean baskets I have been to I can say that I had a great sea food plater and I was very happy with the service. The location of the restaurant is good as well.

This is one of the better ocean baskets. The staff are always friendly and no request is too difficult. It's great sitting outside my the water fountains and the food is always decent.

The food was good. Nice and fresh which it always good. Light atmosphere not too load. There's various of areas to choose from to sit in some more noisy than others.

Great service. Best dish for me is the garlic and feta prawn starter. Not too much garlic, and i can have two if these as my meal. Really Yummi

From other reviews I can see people haven't been very impressed. I had the complete opposite reaction to my lunch there. The gentleman who served us was sweet, knowledgeable and quick. The food was ocean basket but that isn't always a bad thing. oysters were cold and shucked cleanly and the prawns were great. Served with nice crisp hot chips. Overall a very good experience.

Tried this branch a couple of times after they opened, they couldn't get the order right, food was cold because they forgot to bring it to the table and the fish was raw(no I didn't order Sushi) chips soggy and to top it the manager wasn't really interested. The place doesn't get many customers as the restaurant is always 80% empty. That must be testimony.

Ocean basket is a great place for a cheap and quick meal. I usually get the fish and chips, it comes quickly, big portion and tastes nice for a nice price. Tip: order sauce on the side, you will thank me!

Ok this is just a plain Ocean Basket where th service is ok a d the food is ok too. I find that I do not get value for money here, other branches are more generous with their portions. oh check the lemon when u get it, that it is not reused
