Review Mugg & Bean - Modderfontein

After a long day of walking around, we decided to get a dose of sugar. We got a slice of chocolate cake and a scone. The chocolate cake was very tasty, it wasn't too rich but it was soft and tasty. The scone was fresh and so yummy. For drinks we got hot chocolate and tea.

Not to busy on a Wednesday afternoon, mostly patrons on laptops busy working. Little disappointed that the Walsh rabbit has been removed from the menu. Tried there braai plate, enjoyed the coleslaw, lamb chop and toasty.... The rest was just dry.

Located inside Greenstone mall just off to the side of the food court. Indoor and outer seating available. The food was prepared fresh and was very tasty. There is also a nice selection of cakes on display which may be purchased per slice as well as sweet treats such as muffins, pancakes etc. on the menu.

A consistent restaurant with a great menu variety. This restaurant is always a bit of a hustle and bustle but this adds to the ambience of the place. The food is great and the menu broad. It's a regular go-to for me and definitely recommended. Getting a little pricey, then again, isn't everything?

Enjoyed a sit in breakfast. Friendly staff and excellent service. The tables are spaced out to ensure enough distancing between tables. The food was tasty. I will definitely be returning to this branch.

By far the branch that serves best food. Friendly waiting staff nice atmosphere by far my first choice. Always happy when I been there

Amazing place to have breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The menu changes frequently so you have a variety of dishes to choose from. This branch is always full so either go early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Mugg & Bean is an all time favourite and it is awesome for remote work or informal meetings. The coffee and food is always good.

Mugg & Bean is my favorite coffee shop/restaurant first time at Greenstone. They remain the best thus far, and still my number 1

. Freshest food compared to other branches . Extremely lovely ladies working there . Best Mugg&Bean branch on the East Rand

M&G is consistent which makes them one of my faves. I live the giant muffins, especially blueberry with cheese - it rocks my world. It is pricy, but good coffee that is well made, along with good food, is worth the extra to me

A good location for early morning (7am) breakfast. Hot, fresh coffee readily on hand, enjoy their Americano in particular, right amount of creme to put a smile on the moustache ;-) Had a great birthday breakfast with a colleague, unfortunately no cupcake and candle available :-( Breakfast was served as ordered, service friendly and reasonably prompt. Banting friendly meals.

We have always had an amazing breakfast at Mugg & Bean Greenstone. Definitely worth going and enjoying

Had one of the best omelette ever, liked it.

Always had a good meal here. Service can be a bit slow at times. Luckily food is consistent.

It's been a while since I've to M&B Greenstone as I had to return to Ireland during covid but this branch is my favourite place to eat out in the world. I ate there up to 3 times a week over a 4 year period. The food is delicious, my favourite dish was the tropical breakfast but what made each visit so special was the staff, so very friendly, hardworking and efficient. I truly miss going there and I miss the staff so much. I really do hope you are all well. Michael Mc Gann

Situated on the ground floor next to Musica. Good for meeting with friends a bit noise for business meetings. They have a good veriety off coffees on hand and a delicious menu. There portions are big and scones and muffins always fresh. Staff are quick and professional. Place is well maintained and clean. Recommend for a good quality coffee.

Quality food, friendly and efficient service. Always a pleasure to visit!

So impressed with the service from our waitress and the manager.

Went to Mugg & Bean this morning during load shedding...then the store's generator wouldn't work. For over an hour we had lights going on and off, like a disco with its strobes on. One friend (who suffers from epilepsy) got a migraine, I was nauseous for two hours afterwards. No managerial apologises, free coffee or anything said/done by the staff. It was without doubt one of the worst experiences I have had; lights going on and off probably over a hundred times. Maybe I will get a response now?

My girlfriend and I went there last week (1/12/2016). We sat down for a quick lunch she had the Alabama chicken Ciabatta sandwich which is R98.90.When it got there a few minutes later the bread was old,the chicken was burnt, there was like no bacon and the mustard was overpowering.. DEFINITELY not R98 worth. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE.Will not go back.

Best food ever!!!!!

THIS MORNING I WENT TO GREEN STONE MUGG &BEAN THE WATER GIVES COFFE WITH OTHER PEOPLEAS LIPSTICK ON IT THIS VERY DIRTY THIS IS THE WOREST I HAVE HADE
SerenityIsMe
I Ordered the aubergine and halloumi folder. It cost R79.90.

I liked the service. Waitress was attentive. I requested that the basil pesto mayo be swapped out for egg-free mayo, which was done. She even made the extra effort of checking with the chef before bringing out my meal.

Ambience was good. I dislike overly loud places so this was more muted. However I did go there after the rush of lunch hour.

The food was okay. Nothing really wow about it but the service made up for it. I think it lacked salt, probably because the halloumi wasn’t salty.

Not the best wrap I’ve eaten but definitely not the worst. I will be back

1. Waiters do not listen carefully 2. My drink order was wrong 3. Our food was NOT up to the qualify of all other Mugg and Bean 4. My burger bun was terrible, I have the same meal at other Mugg and Bean's and this Burger had the wrong buns and was supposed to be a buttermilk burger but I revived more like a "SALAD" burger with not chicken but more salad.... See the picture attached..sorry to say but my advice to everyone is to please avoid this establishment!! Especially when busy, their quality drops

This Mugg and Bean is always inviting however the service tends to be a little slow and you can be forgotten if they're really busy.

Most of the time, their baked goods are finished.

They close really early during the week.

Nothing extraordinary just a standard Mugg and Bean.

The food is delicious, the omelettes are always made to perfection and i love the fact that they’re not soggy like in other restaurants. Despite the place being busy the waitresses are friendly and service is quick and they always find time to check up on you.

Eggs Benedict Salmon my favorite choice at Mugg and Bean. Cappuccino served was good. Haroon had a muffin with cheese, no complaints. Standards are always met. Although my waitress was overly annoying, cleaning and neatening up my table, while my dear, old friend Haroon and I were still chatting. As if to suggest, please leave. So in our faces. In our 1 hours and 30 mins we were there it was over 10x. I found it annoying.

Always a winner for a breakfast or a lunch.
Very good service at greenstone branch.
Very friendly staff and helpful
Always got fresh cakes, and muffins available

Very disappointing in this day and age that wifi is limited to 50mb. One of the only places this exists. Not business friendly at all! Won't come back, rather choose one of endless coffee shops that offer unlimited access.

It was great. Came out for brunch with the little one and we had no issues. Food was delicious and service was great despite the restaurant being busy! Definitely coming back :-)

I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Service is fantastic and since I'm somewhat of a regular , the waitresses know my order even before I place it. Being the professionals they are , they always ask first though. ;-) The food has always been good ...... always made with fresh ingredients.

Pretty good Mugg & Bean. Loving the new menus, the tomato soup and the beef brisket soup are great, not overly watery and full of flavour. Great comfort food.

I've never been a fan of mugg & bean. The only reason togo there is for convenience sake or if I'm meeting people who choose it. I recently went there for lunch with a group. The cafe latte was surprisingly better than normal. I often find them to be too strong and bitter but this one was just right.

Their new menu looks impressive however the food was underwhelming. I ordered a buttermilk chicken flatbread which was quite flavourless. Another member of our party ordered an on-the-go breakfast which was terrible. The eggs tasted sour. I'm not super impressed.
Carin
Had the vegetarian eggs Benedict. This breakfast consists of two English muffins with a different topping, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The first muffin topped creamed spinach, and the other had black mushroom. The creamed spinach was delightful but the mushroom had absolutely no flavour whatsoever, therefore i did not finish it. Next time I will attempt to request just creamed spinach.

Had breakfast there today. Not impressed. First they screw up the kids order, so we send it back. One of our breakfasts arrived 15 min late. The waitress (Precious) was rude and kept raising her voice.

I usually love mugg and bean but this one is not one of my favorites. The service is on the slow side and it almost feels like the waiters don't want you to be there, they have no interest in serving the customers. It's also very cramped and there's people sitting so close to you that you can hear their whole conversation. The food however is always good, a little pricey but you will always leave full. The service lets this place down and they aren't consistent so take a chance and pop in , it might just be your lucky day and maybe you will get good food as well as service.

Breakfast is one category of meals that Mugg and Bean is good at. I had the salmon eggs Benedict and my sister had the South African farm breakfast. The waiter was nice and helpful and the food was yummy. The chef and stuff however need to work on their plating.

We always find Mugg n Bean to be consistent - wherever you are you get the same dish so we were super disappointed when we order the Mexican fiesta platter. The food was terribly made - tiny portions and made so slap dash I wouldn't feed that meal to my dogs. We were extra disappointed because we had such a fantastic experience with the same platter at Garden Route Mall. Waitress was also slow and not a good experience. At least the manager could fix it but won't be back in a hurry.

Go here quite often. Food is delicious with a lot of variety. If you keen for a good coffee and some quality food mugg and bean never disappoints. The greenstone branch has very good service and a wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely be going back soon!

We popped in for brunch after an appointment in the centre. The reviews on Zomato were good so I had reasonably high expectations. We were seated promptly and our drinks and food orders were taken shortly thereafter. The drinks arrived quickly. The coffee in my flat white cappuccino was a little on the weak side though. I had the original Eggs Benedict. My eggs were medium, as requested. I liked the hash brown and grilled tomato on the side, which provided a nice contrast to the hollandaise sauce. The other half had the filter coffee, which had a bit more kick than my cappuccino, and the Mighty Morning croissant with scrambled eggs and bacon, which were perfectly cooked. Overall, service was good. The managers seem to be quite hands on. As a first time visitor, I now understand why the place is always packed.

This Mugg & Bean is quite noisy because it's situated right opposite the Magic Company.

You can see that Management are working really hard and they were really accommodating in trying to get us seated in the extremely busy restaurant.

Unfortunately it's let down by its service. My mocha had no coffee - so it was actually a hot chocolate. I was told that the cinnamon pops "probably" weren't available. After sticking with my order the waitress said they were available but they'll take really long. And she reminded me about that a further three times even though I didn't complain about the amount of time it took once. In the end it really didn't take long at all.

A strange experience. All in all its a regular Mugg and Bean which could do with a bit more work in certain areas.

I love Mugg n Bean. Ingredients are always fresh, service is attentive and friendly.
The apple & berry smoothly was overly sweet though (tasted like it was syrup and ice)😬
That didn't put me off though as this is my go-to place for a breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Michelle
Decor is clean and fresh.
Service was attentive and friendly!
We love their salads and muffins!
Thank you for a good lunch !
Very nice to see the marked improvement!

Most m&bs are kinda the same for me. Havent really had a bad experience at this one. Staff were friendly. Food came quickly. The wings and chips i and were tasty and not overcooked.

Have not been to a Bugg&Mean in some time...

Coffee at this branch was yum. Menu looked good and the dishes at tables around me was well presented, looked fresh and tasty. Was slightly shocked though when I saw how expensive they have become...

Service was fast and friendly.

If you find yourself in the misfortune of being in Greenstone Mall, or any Mall for that matter. Then grab a cuppa from Bugg&Mean! ;)

A Mugg that's it, you know what you're getting, definitely better than the Norwood branch. They appear to take more care seving and prepareing what goes on the plate. It's still a M & Bean though. Bring back the choice of coffees.

Chips are fantastic, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside just like a chip should be! And the Cinnamon balls are amazing, could sit here all day.

It never used to be as good as it is these days. The mugg (as some call it) has improved its menu quite drastically. You can enjoy a hearty meal here even if you are vegetarian and needless to say it is quite good! They have changed their vegetarian selection a few times over the past few years.

In winter they still have a good variety of soups to try which can easily be a meal on itsef. The staff are always friendly and the coffee is also good.
You can still have filter coffee at a nominal price which is a win.
Share a huge bananna or bran muffin while sitting down or if you take it away it is cheaper ;)

Out of all the Mugg and Bean franchises this one is one of the nicest. I have been to quiet a few and this one hits the eight notes. Although some of the waitresses' customer relations requires improvement, others excel. The food is always fresh and as u have been here a few times, the orders have always been right. I love their mexican dishes especially the quesedilas.
Rui
Love to come here to enjoy a good cup of coffee and the best toasted sandwiches. Friendly waiters
