As always the service was great.. we had great waiters that helped and met every need. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great as well. We enjoyed ourselves very much.

Spur is always a safe option because you know what you're getting. The burger meals a good as long as you drench it in sauce. Their fries with that salad dressing is simply the best comfort food. The crumbed mushrooms are to die for. I don't care for the Mexican side of their menu. The sodas are way too expensive especially since it comes from that fountain thing and it's always flat. Rather get an appetizer with your meal. Keep it the good work Spur.

Upon my visit the place was packed. The hostes (my apologies for not recalling her name) handled each and every situation with enthusiasm and did her best to accommodate each guest. The teamwork was quite positive as each and every team player ensured that ALL their guests were delivered the best service. I will definitely visit again and recommend anyone to come and enjoy their services.

The food was delicious, and the drinks were expertly made. But you can get good food and drink anywhere. What really made our experience special was Lenon and his attention to making our time there memorable. Everything was really kicked up a notch, however, when our server, Lenon, approached our table. He was, without a doubt, the most amazing server either of us have ever had. He was attentive but not overbearing. Quick, but not too quick that we ever felt rushed. And, most importantly, he was incredibly kind and courteous. He made us feel right at home. And he clearly has a passion for what he does. Thank you to Lenon

What a lovely experience, the service was a little slow but that's okay... The food was worth the wait. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing. Our waiter was very kind and helpful. I must say of all the spurs I've visited and ordered nachos, you guys have given me the best portion size and I absolutely loved it!!

The waiter was friendly and very helpful in assisting us. He recommended meals and it was excellently prepared. The meat was perfect, moist and just great tasting. I don't recommend spur as a whole, but Mexico spur is doing something different, and it's working. The only downfall is the lady taking care of the kids in the play area. She was non-existent. Didn't look like she wanted to be there

Best Spur there is! We love the atmosphere and the service is impeccable! We've been there many times and have never had a single disappointing encounter. The play area is visible and quite large so the children have a variety of options and can have so much fun! Absolutely love it there!

It's what you can expect from Spur. Great play area to keep the kids entertained. At a table for 8 there were no issues with the food. Our waiter seemed to be new to the job but his enthusiasm made up for minor shortfalls. We all enjoyed our evening, especially the kids

By far the best spur I've ever been at. The food portions are so huge compared to other spurs. It's basically value for money, the vibe and atmosphere is so good too. All staff are very well organized when it comes to us customers. Well done to them. Highly recommended!!

Myself and my family were treated with Royalty today by Manager David. He made me feel like I was someone famous always checking up if we needed slanything, including the waiter. I really loved every moment. My daughter and I had a wonderful birthday thank you for making our day special. We'll be back soon with our extended family. Thank you Manager David and thank you Spur family.

Had an absolutely amazing lunch. The nacho schnitzel and turkish delight milkshake is to die for. Our waitress, Penny, was so lovely and gav3 us amazing service. The manager also walks around asking if everything is fine. I would highly recommend going to them.

Had to check into the Mexico Spur for breakfast and to get some work done while having to wait on my car (getting serviced close by). The Staff is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Haven't received such FRIENDLY, CARING and SUPER FAST service in a long time... and the food was excellently prepared - for all out there who need a place to wait on something / someone while having to get some work done - this is truly the Go-to Spot in Canal Walk!!!

I came to your establishment for lunch today with my brother and we both ordered a medium rare steak. First of all, my brother was given a medium steak and my "medium rare" steak arrived on a hotplate (which I hadn't specified or asked for). By the time I got to eating my steak it had cooked to a medium well and a perfectly good piece of meat was ruined. Upon asking the waitress why it came on a hotplate even though I never specified the answer was that all medium rare steaks get served on a hotplate. I'd think that an establishment that has "steak ranch" in it's name would be aware of the fact that after cooking, a steak needs to rest for a short period before being served. Obviously by slapping it on a hotplate it continues to cook. If you're unaware of this fact I'd recommend you kitchen staff (or whoever it is that dictates how your food is prepared and served) familiarize themselves with some basic laws of thermodynamics. I am highly unimpressed and wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone. You'll find more joy going to the burger king downstairs

i had by far the worst experience on saturday canal walk spur, let me first start by saying that the waiter was not friendly yet did he have any concern on checking up on his customers, fully understand if you guys are full as it's months end, but already a visit or 2 just to check up if all is in order or if we need anything more than just our meals, upon requesting our bill the manager comes to say the waiter is bleeding and is unable to come and assist with the bill and he would bring the bill himself, however instead the waiter comes to give us the bill, his shirt is full of blood, and the worst of this all is that the bill he gives us is full of blood?�I asked him what is this as I still told my husband it is tomato sauce �I then asked the waiter what is this he says I'm so sorry it's my blood an just wipes it off and still leaves it with us, I then pick up the bill an the slip is full of blood behind it yet alone to say the bill was on the bag he gave to put the doggy bag in. I am so disgusted an after complaining to the manager all he says is this is unacceptable and off I go to pay my bill and get no apology for this. if this is the way you get served at spur then I will pass an go eat else where.. totally unacceptable and the thought of this put me off totally.. I hope by this way posting on social media will actually show you how disappointed, disgusted I am at Spur as a whole & that it's not okay to let your staff work in that condition who is serving food to customers!!!

I had the ribs and buffalo wings combo. The meat was not as soft as I am used to told the waiter and he took my half eaten ribs and brought back another 400g fresh ribs but there was no change. The service we received from the waiter though was exceptional and always had a smile and checked up on us. Big ups to the waiter never ordering ribs there again though �

Location is good, located on the top level and easy to find. Typical spur atmosphere. Family friendly. Friendly service. Not an extensive drinks menu, but decent options available if you're a wine or beer lover. Food is satisfactory. My medium rare steak was cooked just right. Unfortunately, the floor was extremely filthy the whole time I was there and no one seemed to care. Don't bother trying to use the gents, the smell alone is enough to make one lose ones appetite. I also don't appreciate people plonking baskets on the table and trying to sell me things in the middle of a meal. Hopefully this isn't the norm.

Wow what a breakfast my father and I had, pure mango and orange juice with a massive Ranch breakfast and toast. It was delicious and left us bloated but yet wanting more😋 just what we needed to start our day off

The service we received from our waitress was very friendly and good. The prices have gone up by quite a considerable amount. The nachos as always was good. The burger was good except the bacon (as always is the case) was not cooked well and was cold and wet. The sections need to coordinate better so that the bacon is fresh off the grill when the burger comes out. They should also make the bacon more crispy so that it doesnt taste so bad and as if it came off a grill which could do with a wipe down.

Very fast turn around time on food - I didn’t even get to take two sips of my tea when the food arrived. Considering the public holiday and the Spur being this full that is most impressive. Okay granted there was no hot veg left at 9pm when I sat down I’m still happy I got to eat without waiting a long time. The ribs were done well and no extra fatty bits and the burger was juicy. Overall very happy.

When I used to work in Canal Walk, I would sit outside on the balcony (smoking area) with lovely views and good sandwiches, can't complain about a more than half decent Spur!

This branch is way bigger than most due to its location overlooking the food court. But I prefer sitting near the kitchen because I tend to find that if you sit further, service isn't the best. The food is consistent with the other branches and everyone at our table was happy with their meals.<br/>

Not at all kid friendly. Our service was not well maintained, the tables dirty with food on the floor still left from a previous table. The restaurant is narrow and crowded with too many waiters not caring enough to give you proper service.

My mother and I had brunch here yeaterday before we went shopping. I am usually not a fan of Spur since we have almost always had problems regarding service, cleanliness, etc.<br/><br/>I was pleasantly surprised with this outlet as our waiter was friendly and the service was fast. It was a little stuffy as the aircon wasn't on though. We waited a bit for our coffees but they went to buy more cream which is understandable.<br/><br/>Both of us ha a cappuccino with cream and a grilled chicken wrap. The coffee was not as hot as I would have liked but not too cold. The wraps were delicious and the ingredients fresh and had more than enough chips even though the menu said it came with a "nibble" of chips. My mother had the sweet potato fries but said it tasted like it was made in the oil fish was fried in.<br/><br/>All in all it was a good meal and probably the cleanest Spur I've been to in a long time.<br/><br/><br/>

I know not to expect fast service on a Monday night with burger special and being a big table, but once the rush hour or two has passed and the restaurant is half empty it won't be too much to at least serve everyone's meal at the same time especially if everyone ordered the same thing.  We were a table of 10 and had one burger brought to the table, about 10 minutes later another and then the rest.

There is a reason why Spur has a cult following by families. This is for sure one of the better ones. Great play area and gives a feel of clean and relaxed. Food is great spur food, but the kids is what makes us go there. Only restaurant in Canal Walk with playground and so that is where we go. If with small kids you will not be disappointed when visiting this Spur.

My friend and I had lunch here today. Overall, our experience was very good, and I will be coming back. The service was extremely friendly and fast, and the food was delicious. The onions are a little on the oily side compared to other Spurs, so I won't be ordering it again. However, the chips were very well made. We both had the Philly cheese steak roll. It wasn't the best Philly cheese steak roll I've ever had, but it was tasty and we both enjoyed it. Our waiter and the managers were extremely friendly and checked on us regularly.

School holidays one always find themselves at Spur entertaining kids... I personally never know what to east at spur .. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that spur has sweet potato fries ! They are my fav for all times .... I ordered a burger with the sweet potato fries ... Absolutely Loved the fries and had the burger bun-less to be able to stomach the fries ... <br/>I hope to find the Sweet potato fries back in Johannesburg :-) 👌🏻👌🏻🙌<br/>The kids enjoyed their meals as well and they love Spur!!

It's a spur, the place you go to almost every Monday night.<br/>But Canal walk's Spur is the best one around, haven't had a bad burger. <br/>Great efficient service*

For service on a very quiet morning, I wouldn't expect anything less. The food? Unlike, most spur breakfast experiences, this was was/is different. Everything was done to good expectation. A hot breakfast is always the way to go. Especially if there is bacon in it somewhere. Unreal breakfast special surely is unreal. <br/>Of all the Spur experiences I have had country wide, (yes, all major cities and some little towns in SA) this would be the best yet.

One of spurs I enjoy quite cozy I never had a problem with their food. I had an amZing sirlon steak and chips and sometimes I enjoy it with mushroom sauce. At the end of the day spur is spur.

This place is always packed and its huge. Service is ok and the food pretty much your usual Spur fare. Get a seat on the far right but not at the window on a sunny day. Situated in the heart of Canal Walk mall and it has a great kiddies area. P.s - stay away at month end unless you're willing to go on a waiting list and sit around.

Went to spur a few days ago. The food was okay but the service was not good at all. Also their baby seat is one of the worst. Not secure at all. My almost 2 year old can get out of that thing in less than 10 seconds.

Yesterday was my daughter's 11th birthday and she wanted to spend it with selected friends. We decided to celebrate it in Spur, all the kids just love it. It was a success, her friends were all excited with their food and my daughter enjoyed the staff Birthday song. I believe it was a good choice for the occasion

Highly disappointed with our meal here last night! The service was shocking! The Waiter never checked on us once and we waited about 15 minutes to order. Food was shocking. 1 of us got the wrong order and 1 of our burgers were burnt. I ordered the chicken quesadilla which now only comes with guacamole, i wish they would bring back the sour cream because the amount of guacamole is not nearly enough! Asked for extra sour cream which im sure was off and Looked frozen. Then we waited for our bill but chose to rather get up and tell the manager as our waiter was nowhere in sight. The manager was very understanding and said we didn't have to pay which we really appreciated. Spurs Prices have increased and the quantity and quality has decreased unfortunately.

Really great service and the food was great. The staff are all very friendly, the service very quick and efficient. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. This is a gem of a spur :)

Very busy Sunday lunch. First time in a long while back at Spur.<br/>The menu has some changes. They are bringing in more Mexican dishes. Its a great change. I was sad to see the garlic snails iff the menu. This a truly one of your winning starters. Service was great and our food came quick despite how full it was. Great job! Big portions and value for money.

We popped in here for breakfast on Saturday morning. The coffee was good, the breakfast was excellent, and Giveus our waiter was excellent too. Will definitely be back for breakfast again.

Mum ordered chicken schnitzel, waiter did not ask if she wanted onions & fries or the spinach and butternut 🙁 we had to call him back to order.<br/>Chicken schnitzel arrived dry and thought but as we were in a hurry mom didn't want to send it Back. We made a formal complaint to the manager Rory and he immediately rectified by comping her meal. Thank you!

The waiter brought me an incorrect amount of change, then he decided to take his wallet out and give me change from there, this was awkward and embarrassing. At least my nephew enjoyed creating his own ice - cream.

MY friend & I went to this Spur on a public holiday after payday (bad idea!) but it was a Wednesday and they had the ribs special so we decided to go. We waited a while for a table maybe 5-10 min. Our waiter, Callisto was very friendly and gave us great service. We ordered the special and were surprised at how quick our meal came considering how full the place was. We weren't quite happy with the portions. Not sure if they were stingy with the onion rings because a lot of people were ordering the special so it was a supply and demand kind of thing. <br/><br/>Later on we moved to the smoking section which was considerably empty compared to the non-smoking section. We ordered the dessert, the Choc Mud Slide which was a nice warm rich chocolate muffin that contrasted beautifully with the lesson.<br/><br/>Spur will always be Spur but the lesson is do not to Spur on a public holiday after payday.

I have nothing against Spurs, and have actually had awesome service and meals at quite a few.<br/><br/>This Spur however was a HORRIBLE experience!!!!<br/><br/>1. It took the waiters 10 minutes to even notice and come to my table.<br/><br/>2. When I ordered my burger with the specifications that I requested, It was not delivered!<br/><br/>3. The chips were raw!!!<br/><br/>4. The Service sucked to say the least - in fact you can't call it service if most of the time there was nobody to serve!<br/><br/>5. The burger was dry, semi stale and flavourless!<br/><br/>6. No apology was given by the waiter.<br/><br/>All in all a very crappy experience, and for that I Will NEVER go there again!!!!

Decided to try out the 20% off thursday steak special and it was pretty average. I wouldn't say anyone should make a big fuss about it although my meal was lovely and filling enough. Spurs meals have become much smaller, unless it is just this spur. Have only been visiting spur for breakfast lately so can't say, my parents weren't impressed though. And as you can see from my pictures, the lights at canal walk spur are terrible and extremely irritating on the eyes. Atleast now I know to stick to breakfast and breakfast only because really, nothing can beat spur breakfast. Much prefer any other spur than this one.

Great for a quick breakfast as they are never that busy. Once the world get to know you the service goes to a whole new level. Really enjoy this Spur even though it is a family restaurant it meets the needs of the local business guys needing some quiet time to work and enjoy a coffee.

What can I say .. Spur is Spur ..<br/><br/>Was in Canal Walk yesterday afternoon and had a meeting at a coffee shop. After this I really had a craving for a big meal .. a big piece of steak.<br/><br/>I sat outside on the balcony in the smoker's section .. Beautiful view .. hence the photos. Sometimes they practise rowing on the Canal.<br/><br/>So .. ordered 500g lazy aged rump steak.<br/><br/>Everything was as you would expect and experience at most Spur restaurants ..<br/><br/>Same old same old .. nothing more and nothing less.

Went yesterday to celebrate a friends birthday. it was relatively empty. in my opinion the service was pathetic. our waiter seemed uninterested. We ordered starters and we received it without side plates. My friend ordered a Passion Fruit and lemonade which basically looked and tasted like lemon water. We then requested to have another one that has more cordial and we received exactly the same one. <br/>I ordered the Hake and Calamari and felt that the fish portion was rather small. Another friend ordered a cocktail and it tasted like watered down raspberry juice. We then requested they sing for the birthday girl as we wanted to make her day a little extra special and feel like a kid again and 2 waiters came and sang the most unenthusiastic spur song ever. It was embarrassing. <br/> We asked our waiter for an empty take away cup to take away the birthday ice cream as we were in a hurry and the waiter just banged the cup on our table causing all of us to just look at each other in amazement. Service was really bad. The food was good but i definitely wont be back to this branch.

Spur is generally a consistent experience. This Spur was no different. I've been too many and this one did the trick. Spur is a childhood favourite that I'll never turn down. Good old Spurry.

Great service! I really enjoy eating there. Can't comment much on the price as it's a franchise. Never had a bad experience with the food. I like that the waiters eagerly greet you at the door

I WAS AT THE SPUR ON MONDAY EVENING AT ABOUT 9PM,  I WAS EXCITED TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE <br/>NEW SPUR RIBS WITH A STICKY BASTING ON THE MENU. I ORDERED 600GR  WITH  VEGIES. <br/>HOWEVER TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT  THE P;ATE HAD 4 FINGERS OF WHITE CHARRED RIBS WITH NO<br/>BASTING ON THEM, WITH A PIECE OF TOMATO AND A VERY OLD PIECE OF LETTERS. <br/>I ASKED THE WAITER IF THE 600GR  WAS ACTUALLY ON THE PLATE, HE SAID HE WOULD ASK THE MANAGER.<br/>WHEN HE RETURNED TO THE TABLE HE SAID THE OTHER ONE , WOULD BE PREPARED TO ADD. <br/>NO MANAGER CAME TO OUR TABLE ,SO I DO NOT KNOW HOW THAT DECISION WAS TAKEN. ANYWAY <br/>I WAITED ABOUT 35 MINUTES , THEN I ASKED FOR THE MANAGER. <br/>AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES A FLIMSY YOUNG LADY APPROACHED MY TABLE AND ASKED IF EVERYTHING <br/>WAS OK, AND I SAID NO, I THEN SHOWED HER THE RIBS AND SHE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THEY WERE NOT <br/>ACCORDING TO THE MENU. WELL BY THIS TIME I HAD LOST MY APPETITE, AND CANCELLED THE ORDER.<br/><br/>IT IS INDEED JUST A SAD THING TO BE TREATED WITH DISRESPECT AT A SPUR.<br/>AND I WOULD RATHER STOP PATRONISING THIS SPUR IN PARTICULAR, AS IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME<br/>WE EXPERIENCE BAD SERVICE.<br/><br/>I HOPE YOU WILL LOOK INTO THIS MATTER.
