Review La Rocca - Milnerton

Naz Alexander
We had a lovely time at La Rocca last night. Our waitress was friendly and very sweet. She was attentive and fast. We did not have to wait long for our meals. My husband ordered meat, chips and veg with a black pepper sauce and I ordered the Chicken Alfredo and we really enjoyed our meals. 👌

La rocca has updated their menu. There are quite a few new items and some of the old favourites remained. The food was lovely but their coolers needed more syrup and should have been sweeter.

Great to still have a smoking section available, much quieter and less crowded than rest of restaurant.Unfortunately they didn't have appletizer available so couldn't have the Mocksville we wanted. The pepper sauce we ordered, was mushroom sauce. My chicken fillet, slightly dry. It was lunch rush hour so we will give them benefit of doubt, and visit again.

I recommend trying the grilled steak with shrimp and fried onion rings with black pepper sauce. The dish is most wonderful, delicious and varied.

Went for lunch and really enjoyed their JLP burger with chicken. The burgers are big and they aren't shy with the toppings. The burger was very tasty. The fried onion rings were also delicious. The waiter was friendly and polite. The caramel banana pancakes were served with either cream or dessert and a lovely ending to a meal 😋

I had a great experience with service lastnight, they were very busy and we thought our waiting time for our food would be very long but to our surprise it wasn't long at all. Our waiter , Nadia was amazing very kind , polite , very friendly and always checking up on us. Meal portions were small but filling for us . The only thing I was disappointed in was my Pina Colada it had too much ice 🧊 in it and huge chunks and wasn't sweet enough for me. But will definitely go again . 👍

Exceptional service, mouth watering food, and vibrant atmosphere. It surely won't leave a dent in your pocket.

It wasn't a bad first time experience at La Rocca. The wrap was good but the salad made it a little soggy after a while. It would have been so nice with spinach as that doesn't welt as quick as lettuce when it's saucy. Red onion would have been a nice taste on the wrap aswell. The steak was fine but it was a little under done I chose medium to well done. The veggies with the steak was very nice. The freezo was very good we had one chocolate and one mocha. The smoking area is no longer a smoking area.

Love this restaurant however if you don't like noisy places avoid it as it is in the middle of the mall. The food is great everytime I go and I definately reccommend it.

Found a place with great value for money even the kiddies portion of food is quite a lot. Service is excellent. All round it was a lovely experience and my taste buds were at cloud 9 with every bite. The set up of the place is quite relaxing as well. For those interested LA Rocca has a smoking area as well, I know most places don't have that anymore

The food was absolutely delicious and the menu is fantastic. I could not choose between two of the meals I wanted to order so I just ordered both. Best decision as I had leftovers for later. I would undoubtedly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cape Town. ❤️

Partner and I just had breakfast. Salmon and cream cheese bagel with chips. Thick dry bagel with a smidgen of cream cheese - not even enough to cover the dry bagel - and a small ration of salmon. I asked for two sunny side up eggs extra so that I could have something to help the bagel down my throat. Got two eggs that were semi raw. Sent it back. Waited 10 mins for two eggs that costed R10 each (wow). I also waited 10 mins for the bill. Not kwaai. And today was the day I had decided to give you guys another chance after an episode a few years back when your waiter made the rudest comments about me to her colleague right in front of me, not knowing I was right behind her. Nooit weer nie.

So the burger was awesome, service was good at the beginning , but once we were seated it quickly became a long wait. [1235734379:Aqeelah Emjedi] and I asked that our beverages comes with our meal , but we had to request it again and our beverages was only brought to us once our meal was complete. The service overall sucked

We made a reservation. Got there, no tables were reserved. Noone knows about it. They randomly pulled chairs to the middle but we waited for a better spot. The waiter spoke to the manager who was never seen. After almost half an hour seated, we had to call the waiter to take our drinks order. By that time, I went to clicks and back & the drinks still haven't arrived. We eventually got our meals but no meal for the birthday girl as the waiter never wrote her order down. Monster steaks...so thin u could almost see thru it. They advertise meals at R85 on wednesday, show it on the picture but not part of the deal. Food was quite tasteless. Service was extremely bad. We decided to have desserts somewhere else. WORST SERVICE EVERRRRRR....

Absolutely amazing experience at La Rocca today! Waiter was so patient and never once got annoyed with all our requests. Owner gladly changed a order that was too spicy for me for something else. Food was delicious and did not take long at all. Will definitely recommend La Rocca to anyone!

The worst service ever.... Upon arrival waited up to 15 minutes before the drink orders were taken, don't even get me started on the food... Milkshake was watery, burger was burnt and hard, peppers to the salad were all wet and soggy (not freshly cut) olive oil was not found at any of the tables.... The list is just endless not coming back
Siya Siyonzana
Extra star for the milkshake otherwise horrible food. Alfredo pasta had zero and when I say zero I mean no flavor at all. The wait to get a table was horrible and when we were finally seated, we waited another 10 minutes to get served. First time eating there and I was so excited because my friend was raving about the place but she was let down by the service. Won't be back

The food was Delicious, I loved it. The atmosphere of the place was so nice, good food, good people

Loved it....the food was excellent, the service was a bit slow but hey the place was buzzing.... Awesome food at awesome prices... Would definitely go there again....

Had the Ribs, wings and fries. Tasted great, awesome service and the prices are good as well. Definitely recommend La rocca to anyone chasing good food.

The worst meal that i have ever had. Had to wait 20min just for a glass of water and then get food before coffee. Really will not be back. Hated it
Naiemah Allie
The new place to eat out the best i ever had gud service gud food
Fazeela Fowler Arieff
Nice food, poor service. A 45 minute wait for food is not a good reflection of a well run restaurant. And being told to find the manager yourself...
Gadija Samsodien
Had an awesome team lunch at LA rocca, good food great service will definitely recommend it for any family work or catch up session, Thanks LA rocca for a memorable day

The pasta was amazing, perfectly seasoned and portion size was great.Service was a bit slow and the coffee was horrible, it tasted like water but overall the food was great and I'd say the experience was okay👍

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The service was horrendous, the staff don't care, the orders were all wrong and the food was terrible. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody.

We ate here on recommendations from friends. My husband had the prawns on rice....with tatiki sauce. I had the overloaded pulled pork nachos. I was sceptical of the nachos but when they arrived at the table, I was blown away! The portion was a great size. The amount of pork was generous and the flavor was perfect! I'm so glad I chose them. I had so much I took 1/2 of It home which my husband finished. The staff were friendly and efficient. We'll come back again.

Nice location, away from the business of the mall. Restaurant layout is decent having both table and booth options with enough privacy between tables. The service was a bit slow. I'm not sure what was happening, but it looked like the waitrons were washing up and/or drying their own dishes! They seemed a little thinly spread and had to wait a while to get the bill when it was time to leave. They have a nice selection of food and non alcoholic drinks. The food I had was average, which was sticky wings, crumbs mushrooms and spicy wings. They charged about R18 for a 200ml sparkling water which is absolutely ludacrous. Sadly, the overall experience was underwhelming. While not a terrible experience, I don't think this is an establishment I'd return to with all the other options in the mall.

Wow food actual real food, And good food and Halaal. You have my 4/5 star's the reason why I didn't give you 5/5 star's is because just as a suggestion if you have people waiting can you please have seats outside of the restaurant so we can sit while we wait to be seated inside (especially for the elderly). But other than that my whole experience was amazing.
Pavansingho23
Popular halal restaurant. Food was average. I ate the Prawn Star, which was above decent. Water was awful from the taps. Service was relatively slow. Restaurant layout is poor, its very small, and hard to navigate through to your table when busy.
JK
I took the chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and it was nice, some of the other meals were good too but not everything on their menu was enjoyed, the pastas were definitely not enjoyed. Atmosphere was okay, staff was nice and friendly. For a big group of people they didn't get anything wrong so pretty pleased but not a favourite for me.

Lovely service never waited long for our food or drinks it was yummy had curry and it was in special the waiter was polite and rembered who ordered what. The curry was a generous portion the rooti and popadum with was delicious ordered a extra rooti for the sauce.. Left with a full tummy and not too heavy a bill. Happy customer 😊

Vibe<br/>Good for a quick bite<br/><br/>Food<br/>Underwhelming, had to borrow someones salad to put on the plate for an Instagram-worthy photo<br/><br/>Service<br/>Okayish<br/>Wait a bit long for table of 5+

I had breakfast at this place in canal walk yesterday. We waited almost an hour for our food to arrive, so the service was really slow. I had the eggs benedict, which was very average. I also ordered the carrot cake / cheesecake with ice cream, which looked very inviting, but was quite awful. The ice-cream tasted "off" and I notified the waiter, and I'm glad they never charged me for the ice cream. My friends chocolate cake with cream was divine, and the brownie looked good too. Maybe just an unlucky day for me at this place, but I seriously doubt I'll be back.

I love La Roccas menu from the pizzas to the curry, and only ever had great experiences at La Rocca. Definitely worth a try. One of the nicest restaurants in the mall when looking for a tasty, satisfying meal.

Not good at all, we ordered in from la Rocca, a mid week, crazy busy, not in the mood for cooking typa day, so was expecting something yum and hot ..on the contrary..i had a rib burger (nothing out of the ordinary , average at best) and hubby ordered a jalapeño pepper dew and avo burger ..it was still raw, hubby came home about 3 hours after the food was delivered , even after reheating the burger was raw ..never again..NEGATIVE 5 stars is a more accurate rating ! Their name should be changed to WWE RAW! Lol never again!

Happy Mother’s Day <br/>Well let’s just say that I was more interested in another restaurant other than La Rocca and even walked the very full mall in search for a booking at my favorite restaurant and as I get there... the call comes...”we’ve got seating” so venture back in utter sadness and sit in the PACKED RESTAURANT...(as was all the others on this day🤦‍♀️)<br/>Waiter came and took our order...<br/>The wait wasn’t that long as I thought it would be...and when my food arrived...oh did my food arrive...nothing less than well presented and deliciously tasty...I was in awe. <br/>Absolutely impressed with the service and food. <br/>Great first time experience and will definitely be going back to further explore that menu.👏<br/>
Majdah Christian
awesome armosphere and good for the whole family. menh provides a variety of foods as well as yummy desserts. smoking area is provided enclosed in glass which still provides a view of the restaurant.
Sagecar97
The service is disgusting and no one takes responsibility. Definitely not worth the visit. It’s a sin I have to pay for this meal right now.

La Rocca is a frequent, favourite dining choice. There was a time I stopped eating there, because the service and meals were consistently pathetic. However, I am happy to report that the last few times I've been there, I have been happy with the service and the food<br/><br/>My last visit was when I was craving an eggs benedict with macon. (So hard to find that in Cape Town, salmon is everywhere)<br/><br/>Anyway I was deeply disappointed when the waitress told me it was no longer on the menu and she couldn't ask the kitchen to prepare it, because the system wouldn't allow her to do that. I'm sure she could have made a plan, but anyway. <br/><br/>I ordered the benedict with pulled rib and asked for avo. She placed my order and then informed me that they didn't have avo. I told her they should send someone to buy it at Woolies. Then she said she'll send the manager to me.<br/><br/>The manager on duty, Neil, came to tell me that they did send someone to Woolies, but that if Woolies doesn't have soft avo - because it wasn't avo season - they wouldn't be able to serve it. I appreciated him coming over and sending the person to buy it.<br/><br/>I was disappointed that the waitress didn't ask how I want my eggs prepared. They made it hard and I prefer it soft. (I should have remembered to tell her but I had my mind on the macon)<br/><br/>The rib and eggs benedict combo is not for me. Maybe ribs so early in the morning wasn't what I prepared my stomach for and that's why I was disappointed.<br/>It needed some spice, so I ate it with prego sauce. <br/><br/>My friend ordered an omelette. <br/><br/>I really really hope they add the macon peri peri eggs benedict back to the menu.

We popped in here for a drink and a quick bite, mainly coz they have a smoking area,. I ordered the masala lamb wrap and the missus ordered a burger, we got our drinks within a few minutes but the food took ages, we were just about to leave when our food arrived and it was worth the wait, my lamb wrap was delish and the burger patty in Sonja's burger was also perfect, so although it was slow service, the food was really tasty. Read lots of bad reviews here on zomato, so it looks like a bit of a hit and miss type of establishment, looks like it was our lucky day.

This is the very first time I went to La Rocca. I never say anything bad about any place. But wow, I was so disappointed! where do I begin? The floors was so dirty the table was dirty, there was pieces of food everywhere on the floor and on the table. The menues was so sticky that I couldnt touch it and I also found pieces of food in between the pages. The pizza that I orderd was cold when it got to me, the dough was so chewy and the cheese was hard that I coulndt eat it.Im not impressed at all with this place!
Mama Maya
I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant. From the breakfast to the burgers, ribs, prawns and chicken. There’s not many Halaal places like this so I’m glad this place exists. Think I’ve been there every week for a whole year and not once have I had anything to complain about.
Zakiya Fareed
Good location and not a bad setup... works if you don't mind a busy noisy environment. Interesting menu. While the flavours are brilliant, the preparation of the food was disappointing. Chicken wing starter didnt have the crispy grilled skin that would have made it spectacular. Instead I had to navigate through a soft, slimy outer layer. My rump steak was again very tasty but the request to cook it medium was not heard... recieved it so well done that the meat was mostly white when cut and I chewed till my jaw was sore... got served mushroom sauce instead of pepper sauce but when the right one did appear, it was yummy. What could have been a flavour fantasia turned into a flop cos someone can't cook well.

Breakfast at Le Rocca on Sunday morning. It was my first time doing breakfast at Le Rocca, as we usually stop by for lunch or supper. <br/>We ordered some cuppachinos, milkshakes, bagels, eggs Benedict and their farm style breakfast and it was quite impressive. Taste wise I can't really complain, but it wouldn't call it the best. The portions are quiet generous. <br/>The restaurant was quite empty however we waited on our food for about 20-30 minutes. This was kind of a downfall for me. <br/>I'm a fan of their grills and their pastas, but I do not think I'll be returning for breakfast as I think there are much better places to do breakfast at.

Food and service was good. Atmosphere was quite vibrant over the weekend. We ordered some garlic bread to start which was very tasty. I ordered some alfredo fettuccine pasta. It was good and has quite a kick. My wife ordered the game day special which consisted of a rack of ribs, crumbed chicken wings, crumbed mushrooms and crumbed onion rings. All of which were excellent.

Myself and my husband decided to have supper at La Rocca and thoroughly enjoyed our experience there..especially the food! He had the ribs with wings and fries and I had steak with veggies and fries. The food deserves an 11 out of 10. We go there quite regularly and always enjoy the food. The service was also excellent, the waiter was very accommodating. We would definitely be going back. On a side note their creme brulee shake is unbelievable, definitely my favourite!

Went to La Rocca for their Wednesday special: cheese burger and shake for R89. The chocolate milkshake tasted great! Not too sweet. The burger was good however my beef patty was undercooked as it was quite red. Also the chip portion was ridiculously small! For that I am giving them 3.0 as oppose to a 3.5. Nonetheless if you want a cheapish meal and a good milkshake then this offer isn't too bad.
Thesele Mampane
Absolute nonsense. We went there for deserter and the malva pudding was terrible, worst I've ever had. The waiter didn't seem interested in serving us
Zaina Abrahams
I ordered a cheeseburger and strawberry milkshake which was quickly brought to my table by my server who was friendly, attentive and helpful. Initially my burger bun was stale but that was immediately changed after I complained and my new burger was juicy and flavourful. The milkshake was also very tasty with lots of ice cream still inside. This is a very family-freindly place and it is great to know that it is also fully halaal.
Samantha
La Rocca is usually quite busy. We visited a few times but after a bad experience never went back. We once ordered sushi and found plastic still wrapped around the crab stick.<br/><br/>The food is average as well. Nothing really to rave about.
MrsAdams
One of my absolute favs 😍 their food has not disappointed me thus far and i really love their alfredo , their burgers has such a lovely flavor to it and the service is really good , their open burgers are a total winner and so are their roast veggies 🙈.
Adrian De Graaf
The menu is large with great sounding dishes. The decor is comfortable and the company is good. But then the food arrives and it is vastly underwhelming. I ordered a pizza and it was extremely oily, with a small amount of toppings. The experience was not terrible but maybe not something I would rush back to.
SR
Worst experience of my 5 day trip to Cape Town.<br/><br/>Terribly unfriendly staff who kept nagging we need to order quickly because the kitchen was closing at 9:30 even though the official closing time is 10.<br/><br/>The butter chicken and prawns curry were not edible at all. The steaks were horrible to say the least and very misleading because the pic in the menu's looked far more appealing. <br/><br/>Terrible food, terrible ambience and terrible service. When we complained about the food, the server just said "sorry" and didn't even seem one bit apologetic. Hasty service. Would not recommend to anybody, its sad that I can't rate below 1 star

The chaos of payday has descended upon the the malls and everyone and their cousins twice removed seem to be wondering around. Decided to take a break from the bustle of day at La Rocco.<br/><br/>First impressions this place is styled nicely with clean lines and the decor for the most part is slick except the cheap looking faux marble tables ... axe the tables it kills the effort put into the rest of the shop. The menus are presented very well and I like that the photos are of real meals not "food models" so to speak. There is also far too much clutter on the table - being spammed by adverts in the mall is one thing but then when it covers well over 1/4 of your table it just kills the idea of having a break from it all. <br/><br/>The service is terribly slow and I don't think the waiters communicate well with each other as to which tables are in their section. After much waiting we managed to order a flat white and an Oreo milkshake. The coffee was a bit burnt so it needed extra sugar to take the edge off but at least the micro foam quality is good. The Oreo milkshake was tasty but the Oreo is crushed so fine you can't distinguish the chocolate milkshake from the Oreo itself. <br/><br/>As a meal we ordered a beef smash burger with Neapolitan sauce, cheese and garlic mayo and the Rump chedderment with cheddar, onion and mushroom sauce. My impressions on the meals are that they are really really big and my burger was cooked well and I enjoyed the garlic sauce on there. The patty was cooked well too. The steak roll however was a bit odd - I didn't like that in order to melt the cheese they put the whole roll under the grill because cooked salad bits isn't nice. The sauce used to flavor the meat tasted a bit artificial - too odd for my taste. The accompanying mushroom sauce is very watered down and a waste of time if it's going to be that bland. My chips were spiced nicely though. <br/>

After a shopping spree, my friend and I decided to try the fully licensed Halaal eatery at Century City. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, she definitively deserved a good tip, you don't get that level of service nowadays...we both had the ribs & wings and chips, ribs was tender, off the bone delicious, my only criticism would be just a bit too much basting, but all in all a good dining experience, management was quite helpful...we will definitively be back, really enjoyed the lemonade with infused kiwi...
Rocco De Villiers
Me and my girlfriend went here because we wanted to try something new, first the waiter took our order wrote it down and then was stil unsure when he came back 5 minutes later to confirm the order which was 2 milkshakes, they where very plain however at least the creme brule milkshake tasted like one.the food was next the price...it was fine for the portion however the food was bland the crumbed mushrooms and onion rings was soggy, however I did enjoy the crumbed wings, overall I would rather have gone to a fastfood joint than go here again.
Neil Roland Smith
For some reason Leanne and I were both in the mood to try out the Alfredo Pasta, maybe we had our monthly garlic deficiency which this meal would definitely satisfy. We even added all the complementary extra garlic and cheese. Their pastas are great so give them a go. I wouldn’t recommend anything from their grill menu as the prices aren’t justified. The milkshakes are good too. Give the tiramisu latte a skip, a great latte should be sweetened with honey, not cheap syrup.
Azrah Kadwa
An adequate Halaal restaurant based at the canal walk mall. Food was pretty average and portions were generous. Service wasn't entirely the best.
Rushda Khan
We chose La Rocca because it is a fully halaal restaurant. The waiter was extremely friendly and accommodating, the food, however, was a different story entirely. I ordered the prawn pasta which was quite good. My mum ordered the chicken wrap which was supposed to be sweet chilli but turned out to just be chilli!! This sent her lichen planus through the roof. My brothers platter was severely overpriced and included some dry, overdone chicken breasts, a few prawns and some fish and chips. My sister in laws chicken breasts were also dry and flavourless. The dessert waffle was literally just nutella smeared onto an underdone waffle base. Way too sweet, not enough thought. We have all unanimously agreed that we will never be back. For that price there are far better restaurants with a much higher quality of food.
Ilhaam Khan
Love coming to La Rocca, although service is slow and you wait a while for your food I still feel it's worth it. I usually only have the pasta which is very tasty, today I decided to try their burger, I had the mozzarella and mushroom chicken burger. Was GOOD! The milkshakes are just as nice.

La Rocca is one of the few fully halal places in Cape Town. The food is tasty most of the time but the service is a humungous let down. <br/><br/>I've been to La Rocca many times and the experience is always the same. An inattentive waiter, multiple people taking my order, long waits for drinks, an absent manager, food arrives, it's really nice but I've lost my appetite. Pay. Leave. <br/><br/>Today I had the magical experience of watching trash exit the store and having a bin bag propped next to my seat.<br/><br/>Food wise I'll recommend the Rib Burger - value for money and loads of chips! And their daily deals are worth it. <br/><br/>PLEASE FIX YOUR SERVICE PROBLEM.
Saadia Mall
We celebrated my friend's birthday at La Rocca last night.<br/><br/>I ordered a peri chicken mayo sandwich. Presentation was good and it tasted yum. I would have liked more spicyness as the menu stated - peri chicken mayo. The side fries was golden and crispy and nothing make me happier than a good portion of chips.<br/><br/>They took really long to prepare the food even though it was a Tuesday night.<br/><br/>I'd return to try out different stuff on their menu. They really clean and food presentation skills great!
Razackaliyah
Nachos are my favorite. Would not recommend ordering any pizza at all, I was extremely disappointed by it. It looks nothing like the picture in the menu and lacks flavor.
Zafoodie Foodie
Always a superb experience dining here. the food is on the pricey side but the portions are big and the quality of your meat, greens - always very good.<br/><br/>I ordered the rump cheddarmelt- succulent Rump strips, caramelised onions and cheddar in a roll with lettuce and tomato. Pepper sauce and chips on the side. This was so filling, I ended up having half of it for lunch the next day.
R Khan
I once had a burger there in recent months, and it was epic.<br/>Another time after that I had a weekday 2-for-one curry special and it was one of the worst tasting curries I've eaten.<br/>Would go back for the burger, but won't try anything else in future
M.13
The food is flavourless and stale, the service is very slow. Rather go to Mugg&Bean for the same style food but a little bit more flavour.
Saabirah Hare
I had a pasta and it was really nice, however, it could have been a bit more spicy as I love spicy and strong food. Portion size looked small but it was really big, I couldn't finish my pasta. 🍝 great spot and their milkshakes are amazing!
Leila Rossouw
Had a great evening, the waiter was so cool and friendly. The food was yummy and it didn't take very long. The prawn chaat was yummy. Good experience.
Hend Amer
My experience with La Rocca was so horrible. The service was very slow and when we got our orders my line fish had a horrible smell. It was the smell of rotten fish. I sent it back and simply could not eat anything else in that place.<br/>Just avoid this place at all costs, the mall has other options.
Shainy
La Rocca provides an extensive menu from India, Italian, Mexican & Portuguese. Despite this I have never really been blown away by any of their dishes except for the Nachos which are pretty decent. The waiters are extremely tardy and service lacks due to that. Not a personal favourite of mine.
Fatima Moosa
Visited La Rocca for supper and it was relatively busy. Our waiter was pleasant enough the food did take a while to arrive. I had the jalapeño & peppadew burger which is quite a large portion, I really enjoyed the burger- was well prepared with good flavours, quite tasty. Husband had the prawns and fillet and was not very impressed, average dish. I read the many bad reviews after visiting and must say that didn't have a bad experience at all. Overall average is how I would describe it.
Mymoena Ismail
Not my favorite. However having said so it could easily become one during the month of Ramadaan. They are 100% halaal and a variety of dishes to choose from. On the house they serve you Falooda with dates for Iftar.
Adriana G-Esquire
The worst of the worst. They will never ever see me again. I am sitting at La Rocca as i am typing this, and i have never ever been this dissatisfied with food. I normally don't leave one piece of food on my plate, and this i couldn't even finish. Both the fries and onion rings were cooked in old cooking oil. The jalapeño peppers on the burger had so many seeds in, its ridiculous
Mahomed Esmail Paruk
Very convenient in canal walk, <br/>tasty food - had steaks which was tasty & had breakfast also tasty<br/>love the chai tea- seem to have variety of drinks<br/>Great service <br/>Nice ambience<br/>Halaal<br/>
Tiyaarah Cloete
La rocca is fully halal. They're not my favourite unfortunately - the food isn't to my taste but they have a wide variety which is always great for families <br/>
Iman Bawa
This place is fully halaal which is great for my family and I. I really enjoy their nachos and their chicken burger is quite tasty. Service however was terrible, waiters seemed to have no pride in what they doing hope management does something about this as it is hindering their business.
Glenn Muller
Why oh why! Another reminder why I come to canal walk once a year- hate malls and most of the eating places are just poor. La Rocca is one of those. ..slow service, food was awful ( had the rib and tikka chicken platter). Chicken was virtually inedible, had this cloyingly overpowering tikka spice which was so spicy that I had to scrape the spice off, leaving me with overcooked chicken. The less said of the glutinous, fatty, cheap-cut of rib the better.<br/><br/>Will I be back? Not a chance!
Raeesa Naik
I actually don't know what to say about La Rocca... It's not really a spot that leaves an impression on me. But the fact that it was Halal was a plus so we could order anything we wanted to.<br/><br/>Service was very lacklustre and uncoordinated. But you don't expect much out of this kind of casual eatery, I suppose.<br/>I enjoyed the savoury pancake crêpes, but the pizza was dry and nothing to write home about. I also had a bite of tramezzini - that seemed tasty. Red velvet cheesecake was scrumptious and I definitely recommend if it's available!
Stephani Robinson
La Rocca will catch your eye with their comfy looking decor, something that instinctively lures you in when walking for what feels like kilometres in this busy mall. Don't be fooled. The service is hideously terrible but the food is so much worse. Not a single ingredient tastes fresh and the chicken was as chewy as an Orbit chewing gum. It doesn't help going there if your gag reflex has its A game on either. Just walk past, you'll be better off buying fuel station sushi.
Lezandi Fourie
I was attracted to this restaurant becaue it seemed quite and comfortable, two things that are hard to find in Canal walk.<br/>My ciabata steak gatsby was very average. <br/>The ciabata was not chewy and lacked flavour. Small thin piece of steak. <br/>My iced coffee was delicious. <br/>They have a beautiful menu with a large variety, parhaps I just ordered the wrong thing.

So what a horrible experience at La Rocca yesterday, which we usually liked going there since they are the only halaal restaurant where you could sit down and enjoy a meal anyway my husband , son and I went for lunch and ordered our beverages first which we didn't have to wait for too long soon after my sons food arrived and ny husband and i sat and waited for nearly 40 minutes and our food still did not pitch people who sat down after us were enjoying their lunch while we waited( this 1 couple got their food soon after one of the managers asked if they were assisted and stated they were waiting on their order ) we grew tired of the wait and decided to cancel our food and just pay for the drinks we had and our son's food . I spoke to a somewhat junior manager (who happened to be of colour ) and he just apologized which I then requested to speak to which looked like a more senior manager(take into account he was the manager who got the couple's food to them soon after he asked if they were assisted ) oh and was light skinned as pointed out by our waiter who had the audacity to ask me why I wanted to speak to another manager or is it because in the waiters words was "white" . I felt so truly offended and disgusted by this, I will never set foot into La Rocca again.

The best of all was the service we were in the mood for something quick and the waiter identified with us while we were purchasing some items just opposite their entrance we were greeted with a welcoming smile and this welcoming gesture made us turn back and have a sitdown ...<br/><br/>Had the Morther Breakfast was nicely presented and most of all i enjoyed the sausage.<br/><br/>Will be planning to trial there dinner menu...

My wife and I have been eating at La Rocca for the 3 to 4 years, if not longer. In the beginning we had one bad experience, which was not that bad and we continued to go there. On 23 January 2016 we tried the sandwiches and it was nice... it had steak, macon and chicken on it. My wife bites into the 2nd half of the sandwich and hurts her tooth. She opens the sandwich and we find a plastic lid of a container. These containers are used for pre preparatory purposes. The manager comes over and just says sorry, no empathy, nothing. KAK experience since we love eating there.<br/><br/>That's the rating for now, however, I'd give it a 4<br/><br/>Shot alot La Rocca

Me and my cousins decided to have dinner here before heading for a movie. Some ordered the Platter Special and I took the Rump Steak and Prawns. They enjoyed their platters, was actually quite good and decent for the price: wings (really nice), ribs, onion rings and chips for R99. My meal came and the steak was really good, sauce was delicious. Unfortunately, we immediately noticed the prawns were...not very appetising. They were raw. Sent them back, they returned after I had already finished my steak and chips. They were bad, worse this time as they were drenched in oil. Ovz didn't eat that. <br/>Service was good even though the restaurant was busy. Waiter was knowledgeable of the menu. All in all, it was nice as my second time here.

Always passed by this place when visiting canal walk. We decided to give it a go. In summary.......it's a TRAP......Fox dressed in a sheep skin. I won't waste my time giving a review of the food....and they are pricey to top it off. Obviously the bill comes faster than anything else.

People, was I disappointed! At the Woolies entrance a sandwich board advertises " Seafood Extravaganza "<br/>So what's on special? Prawns replied the waiter..... so lets give it a go!!!<br/>I ordered " Dream Team " @ R195 .4 grilled tiger prawns and 1 crayfish tail served with lemon butter , rice and salad. On promotion at R175. 00<br/>This must have been the worst ever .The rice was a blob of starch and proberly heated in the microwave for 40 seconds.<br/>The prawns and crayfish tail (5cm) was completely "uit ge droeg" Could have been defrosted in the microwave. <br/>My first and last time at La Rocca

Just had drinks. Service is slow. Milkshake VERY sweet! Waiters tend to forget about customers. I would not come back. The bill came quickly though.Marisela Veludo GameOver

Beyond disgusted ordered some ribs, chops and chicken. The ribs turned out to be burnt, green salad only had 5 leaves of lettuce plus 3 cubes of feta. Service was poor also. Overall, wouldn't go back there again!

Did not live up to expectations! Menu was appealing but quality of food was poor. We were informed that in order to get our food quickly we should order pasta or burgers. Ordered a prawn pasta - prawns were under cooked! Definitely won't be back!

So after sitting down and ordering drinks I opened Zomato and read the mostly bad reviews of La Rocca. Hoping our experience would be different we ordered a kids alfredo pasta and wife had the calamarata pasta.<br/><br/>The kids alfredo tasted good but not amazing. On par with Panarotis but not quite Primi is the best way I could put it. Same goes for the calamarata, tasted good but not amazing. Also there were exactly 3 prawns, 3 mussels and 3 pieces of calamari in the pasta. As if it was hand counted when made.<br/><br/>I ordered the tandori chicken. The breast pieces were extremely dry and they somehow managed to dry out the leg and thigh as well. I'm pretty sure the chicken is pre cooked and then smothered in tandori sauce. The sauce is also not that great, way too much lemon. They advertise that it's served with Roti but for some reason I got veg instead (which I didn't eat as it didn't look appetizing).<br/><br/>I can't complain about service at all. The hostess went out of her way to make space for our pram and the waitress was efficient. Yes the place is noisy but so are all the places in Canal Walk.<br/><br/>We opted for this place as we could use our Entertainer app but I doubt I will be returning.

One of the few places that hardly disappoints! Always great service and yummy food! Their prices are reasonable and portion sizes are good as well. My parents actually introduced me to La Rocca a few years ago and I've been going ever since. Their breakfast menu is pretty good as well! My last visit I had the chicken Alfredo pasta and my husband had a pretty huge burger which he really enjoyed.

First visit. Not impressed, AT ALL. Firstly the restaurant was basically empty, yet we still had to wave down our waiter in order to receive service. We ordered the T-bone steak, which, might I add, looked nothing like a T-bone, and it looked as though it was tenderised. Management didn't once bother to check up on out table. Just very disappointing. Don't see myself going back there.

So my first visit to this restuarant proved relatively successful. The pizza was okay, the beverages were above average. However, the seating was a bit akward and pokey. The food came at a relatively fast pace. I do think that the food needs a bit more flavour and needs to be decorated with a side of greens and onions so that the plate of tikka inferno does not seem empty. That said I would give this restuarant a second try and look forward to tasting the butter chicken and grills.

My experience at this place has always been a little hit and miss. <br/><br/>Menu is a bit samey for a halaal establishment, grills aren't too bad. The steak burger on ciabatta was good, only the steak was more well done than medium as I requested. <br/><br/>Pastas were a big miss, Alfredo was watery, sauce bland. The curries prawn pasta was also overloaded with masala and the prawns overcooked.

Slow service ... some things on the menu are good others not so much . Tried their waffles was very delicious ... seating arrangements quite cramped though . Not much room to move around

I've been here for both breakfast and dinner and it's been a bit hit and miss. Miss was the dinner, the price of steak isn't worth it and service is a little slow when they are busy. Breakfast was nice but it's average. I'm not saying this place is favorite place.

This was the go to place for butter chicken because wow is it amazing. Decided to try something different and what a disappointment ! The lamb was horrible tasting and very chewy. Too many spices and not a good combination. The mediteranea had 2 pieces of feta and more pasta than anything else. The rokari chicken also, not good. Lacking in flavour is not the least of the issues here as the service was horrible. Our waiter was more interested in bonding with his fellow waiters than actually providing a service. Not a great experience at all, especially compared to a previous visit.<br/><br/>*update* needed to do some birthday shopping and decided to do breakie in canal walk before the shopping started. Breakfast is average. The sausages aren't great, it has a odd flavour to it. Also, the spice added to the mushrooms is best left out, it takes away from authentic grilled mushrooms. The salmon benedict was 9/10. 9 because it's a little food but wow, delicious ! Something was done right here for once

Wasn't very happy with the service at LA Rocca. Ordered a panini type sandwich with guacamole and all I got was a thin layer of guacamole. You could hardly taste it. But I guess they made up for it by bringing more afterwards. Much later.

Can't complain about the service, the waiter was very friendly. But the food is poor, over priced and bad quality. The pictures in the menu is nothing like the food.

So I have heard many bad things about this place but I went there last night to try it for myself, we received 2 of the worst meals we had ever eaten, Very sad . Felt like I flushed money down the drain.

I can't understand how people could rate this place so low. Every single time I've been here I've always had great service and the food never disappoints. It's the one place we usually go for anniversaries and birthday's as their food is consistently delicious! Best part is that it is fully halaal and affordable too!

Since their move to a bigger premises their service hasn't been up to standard. And management (Rafieq) is so cocky. Lack of skills. Definitely saw the last of my family and i. Not worth it at all.

June 2016 update - i feel their service has improved and their waiting time reduced. The last spicy chicken salad I had was really tasty and not bland as I've found some other dishes. Haven't seen a built in service tip for 2people again..... La Rocca is practically the only upmarket halaal place you can sit down and eat in Canal Walk that isn't in the food court. I wish I could rate them higher - they have a lot of potential, yummy looking specials and they are always really busy. The service is sometimes slow but yesterday it was surprisingly fast given how busy it was. When my food came it was cold but the chips were hot. I couldn't find my waiter so I asked someone else to heat it but then my food never came back. I eventually asked my waiter to check on it and it arrived. My companions were annoyed but I was just glad to eat. I was hungry but the food was slightly bland (as I usually find their food to be). My iced coffee was good but small for the price. What really shocked me was the bill at the end of lunch. To have a built in tip for a table of 3 is not something I've ever seen in SA. I usually give a tip but please don't force your customers to do so - pay your staff a better salary. I never saw the bit about the tip being built in in the menu.

Ate here this passed weekend and really enjoyed the food! Service was not the best as the waitron was a little to forward and don't think she represented the brand well. <br/>I ordered an item and she told me that I would be disappointed - suppose she was being honest but still not a great representation...<br/>So I went with my second choice and ordered it medium rare and got it rare... Most would send it back but I didn't mind and really enjoyed it. Taste was awesome and the sides were really good. Sides of creamy spinach was deeelish...<br/>All in all, food was great and service was a bit harsh... But would like to see this brand grow. For me, I didn't see anything that stood out as their menu covers everything, so would recommend that they find a niche product/s and push that so that they can really grow...

La Rocca in Canal Walk, Century City offers delicious food! Every time I go there I am more and more impressed with their portion size, quick and friendly service and how tasty the food is! The restaurant is also very considerate of their customers and offer free savouries and falooda for all those who wish to break their Ramadaan fast in the mall! My personal favourite is Mount La Rocca! Prawn lovers - this one is for you - be sure to try it ! Juicy prawns in a tariki sauce - yum !

More often than not when I talk about La Rocca people tell me about bad experiances. However every single time I go there I have the time of my life. My angels and I went and just to see if what everyone saying was true i went with an open mind. No biases. And honestly it was the way I always experianced it. Warm and welcoming.<br/><br/>We waited 15min to be seated as they were super busy (Which was great in fact as it gave me time to go pay an account) and once we were seated we were approached to order something to drink. Specials was explained to us. Something a few restaurants i've been to lacked. We ordered sushi and food and was given a waiting period by our waiter Hafiz and 10 points to him for actually sticking to it keeping in mind that the place was packed.<br/>I cant complain about the food or service. We always have a good time here and if you think tje food is good the desserts step it up a notch and make it a sweet ending. Love the butterchicken and would recommend the pasta. So creamy! Also if ulyou like you food spicy request chillies. It could be a bit bland for you. And their fashion sandwiches are tops!

Food good, good selection , but very noisy as staff were shouting out aloud to each other all the time. Much preferred Tasha's also in Canal Walk.

Popped in for a quick lunch at La Rocca. The food and service was good- average quality. Hubby had fillet and I had a Pirate Platter (prawns, calamari and fish ect). Only 2 things: 1. the side salad was 97% lettuce 2. The prawns were curry flavor. Overall good, we will be back to try other items.

Service was surprisingly good. We had a very pleasant waiter who tried her best to be of assistance even though they messed up our orders... there's nothing special about this place... The menu lacks focus focus and the food is quite average.

This place was not on point, food as burnt. Manager seemed nonchalant about the complaint. Was shortly after they opened. So I would assume you would want to make an impression. Give it a miss
Jess Styles
Not bad for a quick lunch in between shopping. The muffins are great and so are their cakes! Being a halaal restaurant, don't expect bacon with your breakfast but there are lots of other options!
Sedick Connelly
Aweful service, we were not greeted at the entrance, we found our own way to a table. The waiter took an additional 15 minutes to introduce himself and clean the table. The food was horrible, the pizza tasted like microwave pizza.

Looks can be deceiving!! This place looks nice but is a bit of a disaster!! Loud, disorganized and painstakingly slow, coffee took about 15 mins to come, food is taking forever (and it was only a breakfast!)<br/><br/>At the time of writing this it still hasn't arrived so you will have to rely on the other reviews for that, I'm out of here!!!

Tried this place last night and I was soo disappointed. Menu looks promising but the food was terrible. I had the prawn chaat with rice. The prawns were so small considering I am in CT... The rice was as good as not being cooked. The service was pathetic despite the amount of waiters all over the show. The waiter serving us was forced to attend to other patrons because their waiters were just no where to be seen. Management just hangs around entertaining their "upper class" guests and don't even bother to come around to make patrons feel welcomed. Worst experience ever!

I decided to try this place for lunch today as the menu looked promising and the pricing was not too shabby. I ordered the Pool Boy and my boyfriend the steak. The service is quick and the food good, but can be better. My sandwich was suppose to have tzatziki on it, but it was just plain yogurt. The salad was some chopped iceberg lettuce with one lonely olive, maybe 2 pieces of feta and a few stray tomatoes. The chicken on the sandwich was really nice as they used the natural cooking juices of the chicken to make a sauce for the pulled chicken. My boyfriend's steak was perfectly done medium-rare, but his onion rings tasted like they were either made much earlier in the day and just reheated. My overall impression is a place with alot of potential but won't be going back till they bump up the finer details. What most restuarants don't always get is that the small stuff is sometimes the most important.

Underwhelming Desserts<br/><br/>After a stressful day, all I wanted was a Lil piece of heavenly delight... I ordered a Bar-one Belgian Waffle and got a normal waffle with Nutella Spread and Vanilla Ice-Cream piled on instead...<br/><br/>My partner who's not so much of an icecream fan but who would do anything g for Malva Pudding... got lukewarm pudding with cold custard!<br/><br/>Usually their breakfast and mains are great and even their cakes to order, but I would not recommend the desserts.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The menu is so diverse, everyone will find something they love. Their curries: amazing! Their service is nice and fast, friendly staff and all round nice vibe. Enjoy being here.
