Review Life Grand Cafe Waterfall Corner - Midrand

Really a great place to chill and have dates at. Noise level is perfect to handle conversation without screaming. Drinks are amazing. Food was gorgeous. Service could have been better but no real complains on that

I absolutely love this place, I have been here numerous times and I haven't been disappointed. The food is always delicious and fresh. I really enjoy the freshly squeezed juice. It is very concentrated and you can feel the nutrients hitting your body...you feel the healthy! The staff is very friendly, easy going and provide great service.

Had a wonderful family lunch at this place. Great vibe, good food, and efficient service. It wasn't full but that was a weekday lunch. It's very pretty and clean. They serve great coffee and virgin cocktails. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

10/10. We went for Mogodu Monday and let me tell you, what a great spot with good vibes. (I have to mention the seats are soo comfortable😅). It gets very crowded and busy so get there a bit early for dinner—like 6-ish. It is not a kids friendly spot at night, it’s very mature. Overall, amazing, give it a try!

Celebrated a friend's baby shower and they offered flowers for the table which was really kind considering we couldn't bring our own deco.

Walked in with an awful hangover but I had the biggest smile when my cappuccino arrived, I was seriously impressed that all those words fitted in that cup 😅 and that the barista was so kind with his compliments. Definitely lightened my mood. Let's talk about the food, my oh my, Absolute divine! I cleaned my plate! I had the mushroom eggs Benedict and it was done to perfection. Our waiter was so pleasant too, I love good service and this place delivered! I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip to the Gauteng province. Highly recommended :)

We didn't eat there, but food looked good around us and the cuppachino's are prepared with special messages.

It’s nicer here during working hours, after hours the loud patrons flock to the place. For the first time their Rib eye steak was so nice.

First experience at Life Grand Cafe. The venue and setting was formal, neat and clean. The layout is neat and spacing is enough for a good conversation without intruding. It was a team function and a variety of meal s were ordered. The food was overall well received and apparent from a slipup on the orders. Reception: 🏅 Seating:🏅 Food: 🏅 Pricing:🏅 Staff: 🏅

I enjoyed the sushi 🍣 here, the order however took more than an hour to arrive. The Chef apologized for the delay and explained that he’ll do better next time, I totally forgot his name but he was friendly, and communicated very well. S/O to you Chef.

Had dinner with a friend here. The place has a great vibe and is a nice hangout on a Friday evening. The menu offers a variety of meals from starters to dessert. Wait times are not long and staff are always nearby. The service was great. The only negatives are the cramped seating and very small bathroom. I guess they want to serve as many people as possible. Not much spacing between tables, you can eat off the next table's plate. The bathroom is outside the restaurant and is small. Seems more like staff bathrooms rather than for patrons.

Tried the paella and baklava. Paella was good, but I would have liked a few more prawns for the price paid. Baklava and ice cream was tasty (although the Baklava is not authentic) and a good portion size. Service was great.

The place is very nice and chilled. It does get a bit full though so if you are a person who does not mind crowded places and some noise then it's your vibe. In addition the place has music with djs so you will find it more vibrant in the evening. The food is very good and I loved the plating as well, also had some sushi and it was devine...on the alcohol menu you do have a variety of choices, they also have a bar so you will be spoiled for choice in that department. I loved the fact that the resteurant is near a woolies food shop which closes before 7pm. Be mindful that there are 2 restrooms in the resteurant...1 male and 1 female which tends to be crowded as the evening progresses. However I was notified that there are other restrooms outside the resteurant belonging to the complex so those are alternative toilets should you be desperately pressed...but that was the downside for me...2 toilets in a big resteurant didn't make sense. Dress code: Not formal at all, be yourself i guess. We were there from 2pm till 9pm so with good company you might just stay there the whole day 😉

10/10 experience. Breakfast is amazing. Would definitely visit again.

I was there for an intimate dinner of four with friends at Life Grand Cafe. Absolutely superb. Splendid rather. The ambience was alright. The toilets around the corner were a bit shoddy. A bit of a stench to them. Overall it is a place I would visit again.

This used to be my favourite Shopping Centre. Used to be a quick pop in and out- I really do not like the booms idea. I have sat in queues to get in and out. So sad because I wont be back on any day of the week now. Its just not practicalďż˝!

Had the most amazing pastries and pies from one of your Saturday market stalls......Marcias Lighthouse Kitchen. ďż˝ Absolutely delicious.

Convenient shopping center even though restaurants face car park... Woolworths checkers clicks all great service...what a pity that Remos is a tenant... we were asked to leave after ordering two coffees due to the fact that we were in cycling gear.. ironically we chose Remos as they have a bicycle rack on their doorstep .please move outside life restaurant..we will not n returning..

It's one of the coolest and upmarket shopping centre in the North. Loving the techno gym without reservations.

Just had worst meal and service at Remo's this morning. One and a half hours to get two poached eggs on toast - shocking!

Ambience: I appreciate how the music is loud enough to be heard properly but also low enough to be able to have a conversation. <br/>Food: The food was amazing, everything on the seafood and chicken tapas was really nice. I love how they're not stingy with the alcohol in the cocktails.<br/>Service: The waitress assisting our table was really great. Came to check on is quiet often. Felt well taken care of.

This was my first outing since restaurants have been opened. I came here for a birthday brunch with my friends . <br/><br/>Upon arriving there was some confusion at the door and I told the waiter at the front that I was there for a reservation. She said no reservations were allowed although my friend had made a reservation and it was accepted. She was also quite rude to me. Luckily two of my friends were seated already and I went to join them.<br/><br/>We initially sat inside but the table was too small for the amount of people we were going to be. So we an opted for an outside table. Our waiter did try her best to give us a good service considering how busy it was.<br/><br/>The place was quite packed . The decor is very soft and elegant. A very nice and classy environment. The restaurant did make a decent effort to abide by the Covid guidelines. The tables were spaced out,you scan for the food menu however you can touch drinks menu. <br/>The bathroom setup was really off putting,it’s two separate tiny male and female bathrooms. They’re very dingy and for an establishment that big that’s not the most ideal setup. However the mall’s bathrooms are nearby so one can make use of those.<br/><br/>My drink of the day was an Aperol Spritz,it wasn’t too good and was very weak in terms of alcohol strength. For my meal I ordered a sirloin steak with a side of chips. I was taken aback that the price of the steak didn’t include any sides. When my meal came I was very disappointed. The chips were so few,I’m sure they were made from half a potato. The steak was also small and the plate just looked so terribly empty. After three bites,I was done with my meal. <br/>For dessert I ordered a waffle with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. That dish was the redeeming factor that made me not write off this restaurant completely. Those waffles were so good and such a generous portion size. I was a bit put off by the fact that she didn’t give us dessert spoons, eating ice cream with a fork is less than ideal. I didn’t bother asking for the spoon because she was taking a while to come to us and the ice cream would have melted by then. <br/><br/>Overall my experience here was below average and would definitely not come again. This place is an okay place for hanging out with friends and having a good drinks vibe. In terms of food it’s quite a let down and wouldn’t recommend.

My wife was craving Salmon Eggs Benedict so we decided to give LCG a try. We were met with the friendliest of greetings by the an extremely professional and knowledgable waitron. The meals arrived relatively quickly and were great. <br/><br/>Would I go again? Probably not, here's why; <br/><br/>Whilst the service and food were great, there is one big issue here - price. Many restaurants 50 meters away will offer you the a similar experience for a lot less money, you cannot ignore them. And R68 for a 500ml (non-craft) draught beer is borderline ridiculous.
Khosi Hlongwane
A beautiful setting (especially the outdoors) really awesome for brunch with friends (great lighting for selfies). The waiters tend to go AWOL and forget to take your orders (awkward) nonetheless, the presses juices never disappoint. I found the breakfast muesli portions to be quite tiny (compared to other establishments) A great meal nonetheless.
Mpho Thato Sello
I had the seafood souvla at Life Grand Cafe at Waterfall corner. The portions were generous as I was able to share with friends; but the taste was fairly disappointing. Considering how well presented this meal is, my tastebuds were ready for the ride of their life! But alas, it was one of those "Joburg-bland-playing-it-safe" meals that this city has grown accustomed to in pursuit to try and accommodate evey palate, and missing the opportunity to 'wow' in taste in the process!<br/><br/>The 3 star rating is largely attributed to our amazing hostess Faith Ncube and the ambiance; Summer is already here at Life Grand!
Lerato
The ambience and service is impeccable. They always exceed my expectations. Prices are reasonable and the food is top notch 👌 <br/>Ooh also the music played is on par, not too loud and not too soft.
Katlego Mohlala
The food was amazing as well as dessert.<br/>I just didn’t understand why one waiter manned lots of tables while a lot of the others just stood around, huddled in a corner doing nothing instead of helping.<br/>That’s the one shortfall this place had.<br/>As well as the old furniture outside.<br/><br/>But shortfalls aside, food and vibe is great. I might go order that chicken linguini again <br/>And maybe I’ll try out the cocktail menu this time around
Dimphomona
Got the worst service my first time to this place. And it’s funny I had so much hopes for it since it’s in the right location. The waiter was so slow to bring the menus and the drinks and the food. Everything was just slow. And the heater, my Gosh. It just kept going on and off. Even the people that were seated next to us complained at the same waiter, like the only quickest thing he managed to do, was bring the bill. It lacked a personal touch. The attitude felt more like a take it or leave it kind of situation. Had I not been as hungry as I was, my friend and I would have left.
Mpho Makhetha
I really do love both the location and the ambience of this particular Life Grand, however I do feel that the food is slightly overpriced, and I always leave quite whelmed with my meal. But the wildberry mojito was refreshing.
Princess Niritika
The amount of options on the menu for vegetarians who don’t consume eggs or for vegans is limited! The food is always well presented, the service was average
Zama Sand
This was my first time going to this Life Grand, we were a lathe table and only assigned one waitress so you can imagine how slow the service was.<br/><br/>Not entirely happy on the limited red eine selection esp when you're not a fan of blends. But nonetheless I had a nice wine which was perfectly chilled. Day made!!<br/><br/>Ordered some prawn fashion sandwiches, which turned out to be amazing. Super fresh and tasty. My prawn pizza was a let down, it really lacked some flavor and that THING.<br/><br/>Great vibe, fun place to go after work drinks or lunch vibes.
Vuyo Renene
I’ve eaten here twice and I feel that the sushi is really good, however all the other food is slightly above average. What is really nice is the vibrancy and ambiance of the place, especially on a warm sunny day, it’s the perfect location for drinks with friends, and, you won’t be mad at the food.
Elle Mbadaliga
I love the ambiance and setting of life grand. It's a lovely spot to grab lunch and drinks afterwards. It's very comfortable. The service was not great. The food was okay. I had the pork belly which was great, they can work on the presentation.
Taryn Kendall
Ok so I cant really fault the food - it was good - it took forever to come out and we did get offered other tables food a few times before ours eventually came out but the food was great. But was the price worth the experience. No not really . The service was slow the waitress honestly couldn't have cared to be there that day we had to ask for cutlery and sauces after food already coming late then she added in the wrong amount on the card machine (im sure expecting more tip then we offered for the less than poor service we got) honestly a first and last time experience for me. There restaurants with just as good meals but with better service
ShĂ mai-Sassy Khan
food is average, not impressive with the portions either for the price. The crowd becomes too noisy and the music combined. Service is not good either. Waiters look unhappy and annoyed.
Valentine Bilankulu
I par ticularity love this Life Grand because of it's convenient location. It's my waiting area for when my nieces & nephews go to Bounce. I can shop for groceries & people + car watch from the restaurant. There was a PVT function when I went and service was a bit slow but the good food made up for it.
Diederik Van 't Hof
Really pleasant spot. The coffee is good and strong, and the food presented well. I had the Salmon Benedict - really nice flavours with the sourdough element coming through well.
Riona Arjoon
Enjoyed our Sunday brunch here. our waitress was really attentive and helpful. The food was great. Love the decor too. Will be back to try out other items on the menu.
Little Miss Rabbit 🐇
Food was amazing! I tried Salmon Benedict but we all shared our food from the Lazy Breakfast to the Salmon Surprise. The interior was beautiful. Lighting and positioning of the restaurant excellent. Location Location Location 👍The whole concept was a brilliant idea. Lots of details with decor from the pineapple ice buckets to the brass horse detail around the bar. Not even the sauces came in plastic. They were served came in glass miniature jars. Thumbs up to being closer to eco friendly environment. My blog will be coming soon!! If you haven’t been to one yet!! Please do!!

This place is definitely my top 3 favorite restaurants. It is absolutely beautiful and serves great food and cocktails. Their waffle is the best waffle I’ve tasted.
Thule Mathebula
I came here for my birthday and it was absolutely amazing. The alcoholic beverages(I’m talking cocktails, wine, champagne etc) are the best thing about the place. The food was mediocre but the overall atmosphere of the place made up for it with the music being a highlight. A definite hidden gem.

My boyfriend and his friend stopped for lunch here on Saturday, before going to see Star Wars. We have eaten here before, and enjoyed it. Boyfriends steak was basically a chunk of fat, with a tiny bit stuffed meat. Definitely not a sirloin or what ever it was marketed as. We suspect they are buying cheap meat and charging way too much for it. His beer was given to him in a used glass that had lip prints and food on it. Sent it back, the waiter and barman proceeded to have a fight about it, and then instead of giving him a clean glass, they put a bit of water in it and washed it with a paper towel or serviette. So unimpressed and will never waste our money there again.
Natalie Lazaris
A busy restaurant with a comfy outdoor setting. Other than the fact you are in a parking lot, the setting is nice. Service is good, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is packed with different people from all walks of life. Food is tasty and fresh. The menu is vast, from sushi to pizza,. I had the chicken Alfredo which was good. A bit oily, but nonetheless tasty. Only downside, I specifically asked for penne twice and received spaghetti. Cocktails also nice, if your in the area try it.
Siyabonga Nyezi
Lovely view and a great vibe, whether you're doing brunch or evening drinks. Did not enjoy the service though. Went for breakfast on a quiet Saturday and the waiters just kept walking by. Fix that, and we have a winner of a place
Khuthala Worx
I have no words! We were looked after very well, our waiter (sorry I forgot his name) deserved that tip. Been here before but today felt different. Good food (we were too full), great service and best company. I love summer days and this place is the best for that. If you haven’t been, please pull through - no regrets 🙂

First time at Life Grand Cafe, decided to try it out.<br/>Honestly nothing special about it the Food was not great at all and the service was very slow.<br/>Quite disappointing.
Neo Ramagaga
Very nice venue, a great atmosphere for eating out with friends. The service was okay, a bit shoddy at times but maybe that was due to the fact that the restaurant was quite busy at the time. The food was good, but nothing to go on about. Probably would not go back.
Tsenge
Great atmosphere and service and without a doubt the best pizza I've had in Joburg. Would definitely recommend it! The only downer is that they accidentally cancelled my reservation but they managed to get us a table quickly.
Natalie De Canha
Mm. That salad bar is such a win 😍 although for any additional protein you basically pay the price of another entire meal, which is a bit ridiculous. But the amount of salad goodies you get from this once-off all you can eat dish up is enough for 3 meals 😍 happy days! So nice to have some fresh and crunchy summer faves🌸
Let Them Eat Cake
Waited around 20 minutes for a waitress to acknowledge our existence. Then we were told to move tables and to take our stuff. Cappucinos awful and served COLD. Fail!
Mona Makwakwa
Life Grand is a very snazzy establishment, love the vibe and ambience of their establishments. The service is not so great, waiter lacked TLC. The food was very underwhelming, I felt very cheated!
Sumeshnee Bachan
Bit on the pricey side but so definitely worth it. Total yumminess in every bite! I'd definitely recommend one of their tapas platters and a good glass of wine.
Tenjiwe Moyana
Life Grand Cafe is so overrated. I'd give it a miss and go to Remo's or Beluga instead. Let me tell you why.<br/><br/>1/ food is uninspiring, on the cusp of bland - the descriptions over-promise and under-deliver. Consistently.<br/>2/ the waitstaff forget you, even when the restaurant is not full. It's confusing. <br/>3/ the couch seating is *way* too low for the table<br/>4/ the waiters really struggle with large parties (mistakes, slow)<br/>5/ the food takes long<br/><br/>They do have something going for them<br/>1/ really nice decor<br/>2/ great location<br/>3/ the hype of South Africans who like "things" (translation: it's the spot to see and be seen on the weekends)<br/><br/>What I've ordered<br/>1/ Mediterranean stuffed breakfast loaf - it's hearty, I like the pesto, but it's very dry on its own hence I order a separate mince side<br/>2/ the salmon cevice was not a cevice. It was soggy, and had ingredients I've never seen in a cevice e.g. Picked ginger<br/>3/ fish and chips - fish wasn't seasoned and I couldn't get it further along with the table salt and pepper<br/>4/ pizza - I can't remember which one I ordered. It was ok.

I had a horrible experience at Life at the Waterfall corner. I am a big fan of Life Cafes especially the Hyde Park Life. I just moved to the Sunninghill area and thought I'll try out the Waterfall outlet. What a disappointment. This restaurant will not see me again. I was seated by one waiter and avery rude waiter took my drinks order and another one brought the drinks to my table. Not one taking the time to introduce themselves and welcome me to the restaurant. I ordered sushi with my 3rd waiter, and after 40minutes we made I eye contact and she ran to the kitchen for my order. I was seated close to the entrance with about 8 waiters chatting away. Saying that I sat there with an empty glass, ready to order mains... for about another 20minutes - waiters still paying no attention to me, not clearing my table, not asking if I would like a refill. Atlast I see my waiter, only for her to run of again with family or friends. After that I asked to see the manager which tried to salvage the relationship, at that point I was so over that place I just wanted to leave... Jonas wanted to give me a complimentary wine for the inconvenience caused - but this was already too late. The waiters at the entrance was seeing me complain and treated me with a very bad attitude when paying. And after that the waiter still expected a tip, being absent 95% of the time I was there I did not feel she deserves 15%. Guys you are a great restaurant that needs to be held to a higher standard than this. I am very sad to see this great venue go to waste. I hope this review will be taken seriously and your service will improve. Unfortunately you are in Sandton and there is various restaurants you can visit with great food and great service. You need to stay competitive. Thank you Jonas for trying to salvage what was left of a very very unhappy customer.
Stuninho
Had a good work lunch here. Waiter was attentive for a large table and the steak was good. Only issue was the couches that you sit on that are an odd height in relation to the table
Gary Greenberg
Popped in for quick brunch and I was so excited that serve breakfast until 12:30pm. This larney place has good variety of vegetarian items on the menu so I decided to try their Mushrooms on toast which is served with exotic mushrooms and poached eggs on top of an english muffin. The eggs were cooked to perfection! The service at this restaurant is very good - I was extremely happy with the waitress's efficiency and assistance. I will most certainly be back in the near future with family or friends.
Tshegofatso Katastrophik Mohlele
An absolute favourite, I love it. Perfect for a nice lunch or dinner with friends, it was so awesome I would casually come and dine alone :)
Kirsty Ballard
Noticed this placed for a few weeks and heard some good things about it too. Their breakfast menu is limiting but decent and the prices are a little higher than a Tasha's.
Swiss Kamba
Great food. better when its not a turn up and so is the service. Still not black man portions but i can live with that. Tastes awesome. Only did breakfast so far..gotta try errthing else but ya. Happy
Cephola
High overly priced and the waiters are just plain rude and arrogant. The food used to be good but the standard has plummeted. Time to move another place if you have an option.
Diana Mak
One of my fav spots to hang out with friends in summer! Food & drinks that is on offer is great for sharing & also very tasty. The ribs is one of my favourite meals here - very tender and tasty.
Kurt Baden Cairns
Walking towards this establishment from the parking lot I started to get excited. The lights, the sound of the vibe, and just the structural set up looked amazing. That's where it ended. As I sat down for dinner the table was wobbly and nobody offered to fix it. It then took forever for the drinks to arrive (and only CBC available on tap? Are you mad?) and when it did it was UnGodly expensive for a draught. The Menus where so sticky that I didn't even want to turn it and when I told the waiter that they should really have wiped the menu, he just looked at me with a stupid smile. (Wipe the menu chop). Mains were okay, and the food was okay but doesn't validate the price. Then I ordered an espresso and it tasted like cold dish water. Lovely. How are you still running? Your time is limited operating like this, trust me.
Lloyd Loots
You know you are sitting at a table full of foodies, when they are using their cellphones as impromptu lighting for each other as to capture the best possible image of the food that has been placed down in front of them. Post Comments (Atom)

The place to be seen. The latest hang out of the cool crowd. Good menu options with great cocktails. Ceviche selection is tops! Burgers succulent and tasty. Put on your sunglasses and go mingle .

My favorite hangout in Pretoria! The decor and steup of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and it has a certain old world charm. The service is nothing short of perfection and I was never served anything that didn't live up to my expectations.<br/><br/>This is your go to place for the best mojito in Pretoria. The tempura platter is a great starter and everyone generally loves it. If you are a seafood lover you have to try the crayfish pasta, calamari pizza and seafood paella. Steak lovers will die for the biltong stuffed steak and for those with a sweet tooth, the Nutella mousse is divine!
Esther Shaidi
A wonderful spot for a catch up lunch with a lovely friend. We were quickly seated, placed our drinks order and were quickly served. We took a while to decide on what to each but once we placed our order it didn't take long.<br/><br/>I ordered the pork belly, the pork dish on its own is slightly salty but coupled with the citrusy and sweet coleslaw. Definitely a meal worth trying.
The Food Musketeer
27.01.2017 A few colleagues decided to meet here for after work drinks. We didn't realise how busy and packed this place would be the entire evening. It has such a vibe to it. <br/><br/>Service was a little slow but luckily the food and good drinks made up for it. I started off with a Cappuccino with cream which was good, we then followed up with food. We ordered 2 types of sushi - the Tiger Roll (Avocado /smoked Salmon Roll topped with prawn and Avocado) and the California Roll, along with the Roast Sirloin and Caramelised Onions Pizza add a touch of chilli that was given in the little glass jars and salt and it was wow. <br/><br/>I washed this down with a Cosmopolitan and thankfully it didn't disappoint it was made just right. <br/><br/>A vibey spot to end off your hectic work week and chill.
Jeanique Pretorius
Great vibe and location but I have to note that the service was under par. We waited long for drinks, and even longer for food, sushi took ages.<br/>Although the food was good, we again had to wait long for the bill as waiters were standing chatting and not seeing that we have finished.<br/>I'll be back to try them again but if the service is the same I won't be back.
Natasha Mashego
I was extremely disappointed. the food arrived cold and when I sent it back, they just put it into the microwave. you can't heat up poached eggs, they won't be runny! the table next to us also had multiple issues as the menu description did not match the food on the plate. Also, both menus at the table were sticky! Definitely not worth not worth the prices they charge.
Scott Gush
Such poor service. Warm beer. Managers did not seem to care. Will not be back They just left us alone and did not seem interested in providing a decent service.
Dino Constantine Valsamakis
My new favourite restaurant. Great tasting food, great presentation, great service. If I could rate higher I would. Tip: order the lamb shank you won't regret.
Charlize Mia Steyn
Awesome breakfast with the girls.  So impressed, especially since I had to be up at the crack of dawn.  Definitely will be back there soon to part take in their amazing selection.

Great, chilled vibes for a relaxing Sunday. It's inviting open plan and beautiful breeze make it the perfect spot to enjoy the view and ambiance of the cafe. I enjoyed the refreshing tanqueray raspberry Collins soda pop which was simply refreshing in the highveld heat. The rainbow rolls were fresh and filling. My friend enjoyed the beef steak ciabatta, the steak ordered medium rare was done to perfection. We sat near the bar and you will notice the decor has been customised to the area. Golden horse heads sit at the foot of the bars pedestals with polonium clubs hanging on the wall. Clever subtle design that had simple yet meant attention to detail has been paid. Great experience, I would recommend it and will be back.

Decided to visit the other branch at Waterfall corner, the vibe is totally different from my favourite outlet in Mall of Africa however, food is still as good and service is also on point. Thank you Life Grand Team..
Jerrod Moodley
This has to be my favourite place at the Waterfall Corner precinct. The service is OK, but the good is decent and I like the setting. The menu also offers variety, and I don't often notice people being disappointed.

My favorite salad in Johannesburg! I love that you can choose exactly what you like and that they work around your preferences. I usually get the Demi salad with chicken which is 5/5 however today I got the seared tuna which was a 2/5. Overall the salad is a 5/5 but just make sure you choose the right protein to accompany it as the tuna barely has any taste. I still love you thought life and you are by the best salad in Johannesburg! ❤️🍅<br/>Health tip: go for the vegetable options when picking your salad
Abs
Seared salmon with scallion potatoes is one of my fav dishes at Life Grand Cafe . <br/>I frequent the one in Hyde park and the other day I tried waterfall - I was very disappointed as the potatoes were burned<br/> , roast vegetables was not appetizing the whole dish was not as great as I know it , felt like I was dinning in another restaurant. A complete let down !! <br/>The service at the Life Grand Cafe waterfall is not great ! Very busy restaurant and the quality of the food is compromised . <br/>If I didn't know better or had not tried the Life Grand Cafe in Hyde park I would have written the franchise off 🙅🏼<br/>Since then I am never in a hurry to go back there ... <br/>
Suchismita Simhadri
Ambience is quaint and beautiful.. but the food is over-priced  and the service is really slow. Not worth the price in both taste and portions.
Rachael Gold Crossley
Place to see and be seen, which can something be a bit a chore. BUT the food is well presented and the atmosphere is elegant yet vibrant. Great for Friday cocktails.

Great for a coffee date or supper. <br/>I find some menu items over priced. <br/>However the decor is beautiful enough to distract you from that fact. <br/>The food is fresh and beautifully presented. <br/>Decent cocktail menu  and a good  location. their desserts are also quite cute with mini cakes and tarts on offer.

Great place for breakfast, love the eggs benedict. Service has room for improvement though. Lovely little cafe but the acoustics are a bit off, can get rather noisy very quickly even when not full so probably not the best place for a meeting.
Mmaphuti Morolong
This is an absolutely amazing place. Great for breakfast or a light hearted get together with friends. <br/>The food is also amazing. <br/>They just need to improve on the service. We were served by 3 different waiters, none of whom introduced themselves, checked on us or took responsibility for our table. That was the only thing that made the experience horrible.

Life Grand Cafe, Woodmead buzzes on a Saturday night. The food here is always excellent and the service is friendly and efficient. Not the place for a romantic dinner.

I am quite the fan of this place. It does not matter if you are in the mood for breakfast, Friday cocktails or a simple date night; this restaurant pleases.<br/><br/>Mom and myself indulged in some retail therapy and decided to take a break. I love admiring the decor of this restaurant. It is so inviting and relaxing. They have the most incredible ceiling lights. Do yourself a favour and come here at night.<br/><br/>Mom decided to try out one of their breakfasts. It comes with toast, baked beans, mushrooms, potatoes, bacon, egg, tomatoes and sausage. As you can see, this dish accommodates any breakfast lover. My favourite had to be the cubed potatoes, it had beautiful hints of spice. <br/><br/> I decided to try their gluten free grilled hake taco. It comes with a kiwi salsa and red cabbage. It is one of those dishes that you cannot imagine will work, but it most certainly does. The taco was incredible, it had a good texture to it and it worked really well with the crispy hake. I must say that the kiwi salsa stole the show for me. It really added an unexpected twist to the dish. The cabbage in terms of flavour was average, but I loved the pop of colour it added to the dish. <br/><br/>Yet again Life Grand Cafe left me completely and utterly pleased. <br/><br/>

Extremely extremely in-love with this place! Honestly one of the most beautifully decorated restaurants I have been to. The open air set up allows for natural light to filter in as well as the side pillowed bench that allows for comfortable lounging. Definitely recommend this place for a lunch time meet on a lazy day warm summers day. Cocktails and sushi are a good mix here. Not a place for families with young children. But good for adults.

Life Cafe's are renowned for their great decor and vibe, and this branch is no exception. Have been to the woodmead branch 3 times now and every time it has been packed and a struggle to get a table. <br/><br/>It is still relatively new, so understand a couple hiccups.. But the service was bang average and our waitress dropped a whole platter down the back of one of my mates shirts... Not ideal! Food came out alright, but the timing was off.. And we all received our meals at different times. Coffee was good.. But could be better.<br/><br/>Hopefully they sort out their act, because there is lots of potential!
Vinolin Naidoo
Brilliant decor. Modern, rich and left you feeling like you can afford more than your pocket can handle. The prices were a little higher than average, but I think the decor makes up for it. I had the Eggs Benedict (there was no bread for the Mediterranean breakfast, so I had to substitute). As you can see, it's quite an average meal, thus the rating. <br/><br/>I asked for medium poached - ended up with one hard and one medium poached egg. <br/><br/>Megan enjoyed her breakfast muesli! All good except the pear was a little...old.<br/><br/>It's a good place for the eyes, but as for the food it's quite average.

I love the decor and vibe at this place always very lively and welcoming..i have been a few times for several work functions..the service has always been slow and poor, not very efficient and leaves a lot to be desired..the food is good but i find it pricey for the portion sizes that get served and i dont think its value for money either on portion size or the taste..

Menu and surroundings reminds me very much of Tashas. Can recommend the salmon fish cakes. Waiter needed training on wine list - I ordered a cab sav and he brought white wine to the table. Good buzz in the restaurant. The cakes looked amazing too!!
Kerry Maher
Such an awesome setting, such beautiful decor and so lovely to sit outside. A glass of bubbly took longer than a coffee. Said glass of bubbly also cost R120 which was an unpleasant surprise - a wine list would have helped as that’s definitely not what I would expect to play. Waiter had one long very long pinky fingernail (vomit), and didn’t seem to know what he was doing.

Life is beautiful. It's a symphony of beautifulness- if that were a word. Beautiful decor. Maira Koutsoudakis has such a good eye and the aesthetic in this hip hang out is marvelous. It's swanky but in such an effortless way that it doesn't come across as stuffy or pretentious. <br/><br/>I don't know if things have changed but don't bother trying to call and make a telephone booking, the phones were never answered when I tried. Nonetheless it's an awesome al fresco dining experience for sunny days. Look, the view is the Waterfall parking lot but the vibe overcompensates for all of that. I have actually never really sat inside, next time I'll try.<br/><br/>Beautiful food. Food is always good there. They have iconic cocktails in jugs and I like that their virgin versions are not a syrupy mess. <br/><br/>On one occasion my partner had spatchcock chicken and veggies which was delicious. My calamari and salad paled in comparison. #foodenvy but it was a good afternoon.<br/><br/>I've also had sushi there. Nothing out of this world, but definitely not offensive. It's "safe sushi". Like orthopedic shoes. Sensible, but not exciting.<br/><br/>Their steaks are good. I had the rump picanha with a balsamic reduction and it was so delicious. <br/><br/>Beautiful tea. Something very close to my heart. THE TEA! Life Grand stocks Yswara tea. Queen Nandi. Delicious. Generally if you enjoy tea, it's worth rounding off your evening with Yswara. Gorgeous! <br/><br/>I love Life and I don't think that'll change. The offering is solid. The service isn't the greatest but it's not enough to stop me from returning. It's a beautiful place.

I ordered the health sandwich which was really delightful. It's odd ratio of more veggies to meat (chorizo) makes one feel as if you've had a light meal (when in fact the portion size is quite large given the price). The sting of the mustard really tops it all off, making it one of my fave sandwiches to date. <br/><br/>My cousin ordered the beef burger, which was definitely the favourite of the table. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the flavours were quite delicate (although the sauce had a slight overwhelming taste of beetroot) other than that, it was delicious. <br/><br/>I had a cafe latte to drink, it was not very good. The milk was over boiled, leaving a noticeable milk-web on the surface of my latte. The service was good, and the staff are friendly. <br/><br/>Overall it was decent, but I'd recommend going to the Pretoria life restaurant instead.
Candace Gloag
Everything about this establishment is beautiful. <br/>Our breakfast was wonderful, the service was great and their prices reasonable for the portions and quality. <br/>I've tried a few others in this franchise but the view and vibe at Life Grand Cafe Woodmead is by far my favorite.
Ling
Disappointing branch with bad service. Ambience and food is acceptable, but the snooty attitude of the waitress created the bad experience.
Tshidi
I've been to this restaurant time and time again, it just never disappoints. The waiters are very engaged and not moody, the food is great, amazing freshly squeezed juices...well put together menu. Love this place, plating of their food is amazing👌🏾

First time at Life Grand and I was rather impressed with the atmosphere and setting. Lovely furnishings and the service staff were accommodating and attentive. Brunch on the patio was delightful and our meals were delicious, generous and prompt. <br/><br/>We definitely plan to return

Life Grand CafĂŞ <br/><br/>If you looking for a light snack whilst you having a meeting or a nice breakfast and cup of java to get your day started Life Grand ticks these boxes .<br/><br/>Not your everyday dining experience but definitely worth a visit if you in the area !! <br/><br/>

R98 for a 200g burger with beetroot hummus and lettuce leaves.<br/>Burger A was ordered medium, the medium was so rare, it was slightly warmer than fridge temperature.<br/>Burger B, the replacement, was DRY, flat and small. I weigh my food, that was not 200g. If there was a teaspoon of hummus on my bitter red lettuce it was a lot. <br/>We watched waiters learning how to cut pizza's for about an hour. <br/>Beautiful restaurant though.

This restaurant brand has endeared itself to the GP dining scene because of its broad menu variety. It caters for almost all tastes. I've never been disappointed to the two I've been to. <br/><br/>Ambience = 4. Typical of the brand, this outlet is at Waterfall Corner, inside the place of the moment, Waterfall Park. Nice corner and typical Life Grand decor.<br/><br/>Food = 3. Ordered line fish, which was yellowtail served with mash potatoes and asparagus. Replaced the mash with roasted veggies. I must say the fish was okay but not on point.<br/><br/>Wine list = 4. Well appointed list to satisfy varied palates<br/><br/>Service = 4. Out of the norm service. The waitron was very attentive and quite efficient given the size of the table.<br/><br/>Always a reliable joint if you run out of ideas around the Park.
Janine Howard
A bit pricey but very good food and a nice setting. Recommend the eggs Benedict or lazy breakfast for breakfast and the coffee was also really good!

Love the atmosphere of this place and the decor is just stunning. I tried the mushroom pasta and for dessert the molten chocolate pudding - divine! Staff are friendly.

I received the worst treatment from the management!!! I booked a table for my birthday and instead of informing that they do not take bookings on Friday evenings, they let us come at the booked time only to find out there is no table. We waited outside in the cold for an hour and management kept on saying they are doing something but people went in while we stood outside!!! They were quick to return my deposit because they don't care about me or my money!!!! If your restaurant is only for a certain group of people, cadres, blessers and the likes, please be upfront so we know not to bother as we will be treated as second class citizens!!! I am still shocked at the arrogance for a company that calls themselves GRAND!!!!

I had come briefly before for a quick bite to eat and from the look of the menu I wanted to come back. My friend had a pizza (tomato, cheese, basil) and I had the bacon and brie croissant, the meals and service were pleasant. <br/><br/>However, my second experience was below par and I left me unimpressed. My husband and I wanted lunch but arrived 11:30. The hostess pointed us into the restaurant but did not show us to a table. When ordering drinks and asking for what craft beers they have, the waitress informed us of the Sowetan on tap. 5 minutes later we were informed the keg had not been filled. <br/><br/>After our oyster starter, which was alright, the manager came to clear our table and I asked for a drinks menu. It never arrived, so I asked for a wine list from another waiter, after which the manager returned and informed me that he had no wine list printed. Nor could he then completely list the wines they had by the glass. I just ordered a sauvignon blanc, they brought the franshhoeak and it was quite a good wine. <br/><br/>Upon ordering our mains the waitress first told us she needed to check with the kitchen if they were serving non breakfast yet. Then she had to check with the kitchen again if the clams, in the pasta dish, were infact out of stock as she thought. She remembered that mussels were so wasn't sure about the clams. They were out and we were offered to have the pasta with prawns instead, I chose the pork belly pasta instead. I had high hopes but the dish was rather bland unfortunately. My husband had the hake taco, which was nice but also needed something with more flavour. <br/><br/>Maybe it was just a bad day for them, but it gets rather frustrating, when one request after another can't be fulfilled. The service of the waitress was pleasant and she was lovely. I like that you can order half portion pastas and a subsidised rate. <br/><br/>

We had lunch here for Mother's Day, and when we arrived I wasn't really hungry. That changed when I had a look at the menu! Everything looked so yummy, and there's a great variety. My fiancĂŠ and I shared the steak tartare, which was really good. He then ordered the salmon sashimi and I ordered the salmon roses - both were excellent. My brother ordered the 200g T-bone and devoured the whole thing, so I'm assuming he liked it. Gran, mom, dad and sister all ordered the hake and chips, it looked delicious and they really enjoyed it. The service got off to a rocky start when my fiancĂŠ ordered a Johnny Walker Red, and received some sort of liqueur instead (and in a very unsuitable glass!). It improved from there. They ran out of creme brulee, which was a little disappointing as it's a favourite, and they should've made enough for such a busy day! Also, the bathrooms are not adequate for the number of people this restaurant can seat. All in all, we enjoyed it and will return.

I really enjoyed my total dining experience at Life Grand Cafe; from the booking which was done efficiently, to the confirmatory smses. We went on Mother's day, and it was very extremely busy. Despite this, our orders reached us within a reasonable amount of time, and the food was delicious. I also appreciated the use of outdoor heaters on what was a chilly day. The only downside is the cramped space, which means one can hear entire conversations of neighbouring tables.

Visited Life Grand for breakfast while visiting Joburg for the weekend and was very impressed by the setting and ambiance of the restaurant. I ordered the Mushrooms on toast and the Elderflower, lime and mint Granita which were both excellent and would definitely recommend to anyone who visits. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the Pain Aux Chocolat it was a lot of pastry with barely any chocolate resulting in it being rather dry. The staff were slightly slow and initially served the incorrect beverage to my friend but they quickly rectified the error and were very friendly. Overall a pleasant experience.

Came here on the third day of the mall being open. The service was a bit choppy with multiple waitors trying to take our order but we understand that it's takes a while after opening to get these things right. There were some items on the menu that weren't available and I was served a chai latte instead of a cafe latte, but the food that we did receive was good.
Precious
I visited Life Grand Cafe last week Friday with a friend for dinner.<br/>Approaching the place from a packing lot, i noticed a lot of stand by people. I hate it when people just stand around for no apparent reason. We almost turned back thinking that it's too full but inside it wasn't. The menu is average, the waitress was amazing. She was very attentive and friendly. The food was avarage

Recently we celebrated my sister in laws 30th birthday. A mother of 4, including a set of twins, she never fails to surprise me with her zest for life! If there’s one thing that we have in common, it’s the love for food. She’s an extreme foodie to the extent where she has made lists of places to eat while in different parts of the world.

I went to this restaurant for the first time last Saturday and i must say i was more than disappointed with the plate of food that was put before me.  the amount of fat i had to trim off my lamb cutlet was overwhelming, to think that was the worst i have to tell you that the fat wasn't cooked either.  i think Life Grand Cafe should really take this seriously and do something about it.

Went to Life Grand Cafe on a Friday evening. The place has a great vibe and the food was really good. I had a lamb shank, the shank was good but I must say the potato mash was out of this world. The only issue I had was how the tables are cramped so close to each other.
Nigel Allori
Dropped into Life @ Waterfall for a quick lunch. The process of ordering a salad was rather cumbersome - first you order your salad, then you need to walk across a crowded restaurant, select what extras you want, then back to your seat......rather like a cheap cousins wedding buffet....! <br/>Decor was nice - apart from broken chandelier at entrance and 7 light bulbs missing from hanging light pendant ..... Attention to detail is sadly missing.<br/>Had to go up to a waitron to ask to be seated......all in all:- not very professional, ok for a quick lunch, don't expect a quiet lunch - very noisy. <br/>I kind of expected more.
Devin Sage
Love everything about this restaurant. The decor is stunning, especially in the evening! I love the salad bar, the mushrooms and the three bean salad in particular are amazing! The menu is great loads of options and love the tapas! The Mint, Elderflower and lime drink is the best on earth! On the negative side... Slow service

So on Friday my family and I decided to go out for dinner at life grand cafe. We made sure we made a reservation because it was going to be busy. Upon arrival we told the waiter we made a booking, 15 min later he still didn't get back to us, so we asked the manager what was happening with our table. After about another 5 minutes the manager came to us and said they are trying to organise us a table. What kind of service is this? Surely our table should have been reserved, since we made a booking??? The manager then told us that the customers sit at the reserved tables and merely take out the reserved signs. I laughed at this because what kind of restaurant allows this???? Utterly dissatisfied with this kind of service. Won't be going back anytime soon, especially for dinner
Steph
We literally only had 40 minutes for a quick lunch today after a meeting. Our waiter Tebogo was wonderful, even though today was only his second day on the job, one would swear he was a seasoned pro. Within 35 minutes we ate, paid and were out the door. Delicious food and coffee and this cafe is definitely more beautiful than the Pretoria branch.
Ayanda Tshuma
Food and vibe are always 👌🏾👌🏾, I seem to be finding more excuses just to dine there!! Staff is very friendly, helpful, keep up the good work.
Simon Trollope
The place was packed and buzzing on a Sunday lunch slot. We had granitas (fruit juice iced) which were all amazing, definitely refreshing for a very hot day.. The food was also good, do yourself a favor and try the Fillet and Caramelized onion pizza, the beef is so tender and soft, this pizza was a winner on flavour!

This place saved date night for me after a bot so pleasant supper at some West Rand outlet. We popped in shortly after 9pm. The place was abuzz with a warm atmosphere on a rainy Thursday eve. The staff were welcoming. The setup and decor was intimate and cosy. <br/><br/>We opted for the dessert. Wifey had the Cheese board and was impressed with the preserves. I had the Belgian waffle and could only fault the ice-cream which was too frozen. Overall some quality time was spent with some eves dropping on our neighbours conversation.

We booked a table for lunch on Saturday. The restaurant was very busy. I was looking forward to it, based on the reviews. I loved my apple and lemon granita! I must say that the menu was very average with nothing too exciting. If you wanted a healthy salad, you would have to cough up quite a lot of you wanted more than lettuce and cucumber. The steak roll was delicious and well-priced and I loved the side salad. The char-grilled creamy pasta was very disappointing! It was literally cream and chicken poured over pasta! A rather expensive bowl of food! The rest of the menu was rather overpriced and really average. What really bugs me is poor service...especially from managers who stand around and chat. Our waiter was good but evidently become quite busy after we got our meal. 4 managers/seating staff watched us wait for our plates to be taken and wait to get the bill. They were giggling and chatting to each other, and that for me is very disappointing, knowing that they were 2 meters away from us! We eventually signaled to our waiter who brought us the bill 10 minutes later. I won't go back in a hurry.

This place is really great. The food is to die for, thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Outstanding service. Lovely outside seating area. <br/><br/>Coming back soon!!!

Great vibe and gorgeous dĂŠcor. Really light, which created quite a chilled atmosphere. Met with a mate for lunch here and had quite an attentive waitress who gave good service. I ordered a prawn tempura platter with butternut and courgettes. The batter was quite thick, which I didn't expect and therefore ate half of the platter (and I was starving). Was delicious though! Had this with a grapefruit and mint granita, which was average. Finished off with the molten chocolate pudding, which was also average. The vanilla ice cream however was SUPER creamy, and delicious. Wow. That was amazing.
Claudia McGregor
I could easily go back just for their watermelon, rosewater and basil granita. In fact I craved them during my first pregnancy... But their salads are fresh and the steaks and curries are also worthy of comment. For dessert I am sold on their eton mess! Great for breakfast, lunch & dinner!
Dennis Naidoo
Does not live up to all the hype... Not bad, but not great. Limited vegetarian options. Service is below average. Still hate the wooden boards. Pasta was over cooked, and the waffle was dryish.

My Boss had set up a lunch at Life for all the ladies in the company late last year on a Monday afternoon for about 15 of us.<br/><br/>Deposits were paid before we arrived.<br/><br/>As we arrived, there was no table allocated to us, we had to stand at the entrance waiting for them to set something up<br/><br/>When we were ordering drinks, we were told they were out of stock of 'chai' and other various drinks and food that I hadn't ordered myself and cannot remember. <br/><br/>I mean how does such a fancy, expensive restaurant not have stock of this at a peak time of the year (December)!<br/><br/>Also they started packing up around 4 and were told we couldn't order deserts!! So we went somewhere else = pathetic for the money that was spent there!! <br/><br/>Can't say I'll go back here!
Thavashni Reddy
Loved the ambience in this restaurant. Light and airy. Really good service as well. We had breakfast and it was really good, so good that my husband immediately said we need to come back tomorrow and bring our sons. The only thing that was a little off for me was that the waiters uniforms particularly the males were so so dirty. This is a pet peeve for me. I really can't stand dirty uniforms and dish towels that waiters use. I think it is a bad reflection on the restaurant. I would give this restaurant a 4 but it gets a 3,5 because of this. However I will come back and hope that management addresses this.

After hearing all the hype about this place, I decided to pay it a late evening visit. The vibe is very friendly and inviting, though the service was a bit lacking. <br/>Their cake selection is pretty great - the Ferrero Rocher cake was good. <br/><br/>I feel they should relook their menus: they're tattered and a bit dingy (not that that has anything to do with the food but, it is rather off-putting for such a nice set up)
Vishal Mistry
I believe in second chances, my first experience at Life Grand Cafe wasn't the best, as the service was terrible. Anyway this time was different. We got to the restaurant just before 12, and hoping that we would still be serving breakfast, and lucky for us they were.<br/><br/>To start with I ordered the mixed Berry Smoothie, which is yoghurt, ice and mixed berries blitzed u. The smoothie was absolutely delicious. For breakfast I ordered the creamy mushroom which is two beautifully poached eggs on toast and topped with a delicious creamy mushroom sauce. Absolutely delicious.<br/><br/>The service was also great with the waiter being extremely attentive. Thanks for an awesome second experience.

Went there for a lunch and the atmosphere of the place is decent (looking into the parking lot and all). The oysters were some the largest we have eaten. The cocktails refreshing and the food delicious. Service was above average and attentive.

It is such a pleasure to write about Life grand cafe (Waterfall) it has been our hang out spot since it opened, the friendly staff members make it such a pleasure to visit regularly. Their food from breakfast to dinner has quite a classy selection to choose from not to mention their delicious cocktails. The ambiance is always spot on, keep up the good service guys!!

I'm pleased to write a review about the great service my friends and I always receive from Life Grand Waterfall. The food is fresh, the service attentive and focused and the ambience always perfect. A special THANK YOU to Bryce and Stelio for their attention to detail and follow through. They are always around to make a plan and to improve on the dining/lounging experience time after time. BRAVO! to these two.
Pholoso Kate Masilela
Having dined at the life grand cafe in PTA I was expecting the same level of service and food would be the same however I was extremely disappointed. The restaurant itself was dirty and untidy. The food was poorly presented and didn't seem fresh and the staff didn't come check on is once during the meal. Over and above all that the wait for the food was long and blamed on "we are busy" but surely being December festive season that should be expected and resources made accordingly
Shane
Quiet a regular breakfast joint for me because the poached eggs are the best in the city. Always done perfectly. Service however on this occasion was dismal. Seems as though all the competent waiters are already gone for the festive break.
Gabriela Limberis
Great place to pop in for a delish lunch. Stunning atmosphere and decor - you almost feel as if you are on holiday.<br/>The salads are fab, you build your own salad from the fresh ingredients at the salad bar. <br/>The other meals, such as the sushi, are good but not fantastic and slightly pricy.<br/>Grantia's are a must!
Nikita
I popped in with my mom yesterday for lunch and we absolutely LOVED IT !!! We had a salad , which we made up ourselves at the salad bar. It was really quite awesome ,as all the ingredients were exquisitely prepared and of the highest quality. <br/>We also ordered their salmon fishcakes which were delicious! They were actually made predominantly of salmon, which is hard to find in a fishcake these days.<br/><br/>The food was great, and the service was even better! <br/><br/>We will be back !!!!
Cheryl Pincus
3 of us went for lunch. Restaurant was full. 2 of us ordered Hake and chips and the other a pasta. The pasta came cold and was sentback. The fish was totally undercooked. It was really not good.<br/>

We booked Life Grand Cafe knowing it wasn't going to be a good experience but Remos was fully booked and we needed something something in the area. So, we booked Life, received the confirmation SMS and then headed there for lunch. Get there, and they don't have the booking noted down and no tables available?!? So we wait 15 minutes for a table, place an order for our food which takes another hour and 15 minutes to get to us? The food wasn't bad when it arrived, but it wasn't amazing either. The best part is, the following day I get an sms asking to review them, so here's your review, your service sucks and food is average. <br/>
DougieLB08
Year end function. Meals were large, and served hot, however service was very slow, and food was average. I would suggest staying away from the gourmet boerie roll, the bread was not the freshest, sauces were cold, and boerie overcooked. Great vibe, but average experience.
Katlego Mabusela
What a lovely restaurant, the view i had was lovely!! <br/><br/>I was there for a friends birthday celebration, and decided to have dessert since I wasn't so hungry. I went for the Nuttella Brioche, it was okay really it could've been better if they didn't salt the crust that much. Instead of enhancing and collaborating with the existing ingredients. The amount of salt there clashed with the flavors <br/><br/>As for the drink. Firstly I had a Paper Tiger Cocktail, apparently theres vodka in there but it simply tasted like juice...really sweet juice so I got a Boschendal Le Bouquet wine. <br/><br/>Service is a bit slow. I also noticed that they only have on computer/ charging system for all of their waiters to use. Hence they queue up to charge their customers bills. They at least need a second or third one <br/><br/>I need to go back and try their food...and probably a different dessert this time

We were invited here for a Hello Joburg #HelloRecommends event and it was a real treat! We were given a set menu so I can't comment on the regular menu. The service we received was outstanding. On arrival we each received a watermelon granita - delicious and refreshing! Although I think some were disappointed that the drinks were non-alcoholic! Starters were tapas boards: chicken skewers, calamari, halloumi and prawns, olive tapenade and different breadsticks. My fillet selected for my main was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and served with delicious baby potatoes. The individually plated desserts were the ideal ending to a superb meal. Highly recommended!

This was my second visit to a Life Grand CafĂŠ. My friend, sister and I went there for breakfast today. The ambience is beautiful at this restaurant. However, just like the first time I found the waiters to be not very attentive. We ordered cuppacinos and they added a nice touch with the Christmas messages on the coffee. My friend and I had the Mushroom on Toast and my sister had the French toast with berries and mascarpone. The flavour combination of the Mushrooms, poached eggs, rocket and parmesan on an English muffin all went together beautifully. I would give this place a 5 if they would just improve on the service.
Zenandet
The food is great and so is the ambiance.. but the service is rubbish.. To actually get someone to attend to you takes forever! Particularly during lunch..
MJ
Decor and ambience is good. Food flavours are great but portions are small. calamari main feels like a starter. The granita drinks are refreshing. Service was slow

It seems like a place that attracts many people and could have tonnes of potential, but today the service was slack, the place was riddled with flies, and the mozzarella and tomato open sandwich I ordered was soggy and gross. Disappointing.

As I work round the block from waterfall corner, I often go here for lunch. I really like the open layout and the atmosphere. The best part of LGC is the salad bar. Though I was disappointed with the breakfast but the lunch menu made up for it. Try their sushi, very fresh and very tasty. A perfect spot to spend a summer afternoon with friends if you're in this part of town.

I visited Life Grand yesterday for lunch with the family after BounceInc... The food was pretty underwhelming to be honest, my bound fillet came back over cooked once and then very rare after the second try - super cold in the center. No salsa verde or tomatoes. Oooh but the POTATOS were DIVINE!!! The ribs were just okay though... The kids enjoyed their food but whats not to like about Fish and chips... Thank goodness the drinks kept flowing otherwise it would have been a waste of an afternoon. Now the question is? Will I give life a second chance?

This is a seriously lively place on a weekend which is good for business I suppose! With that liveliness comes a lot of noise (and for me being a little deaf, according to my wife) I didn't have much to add to the conversation with friends. But the food was really good and the place has a great atmosphere.
Deshanya Naidoo
the atmosphere is stunning, the drinks are delicious (especially the watermelon mojito), food is good - lacked a bit of seasoning but tasty overall. Service was slow and very average. A good time overall.

Brrr....what happened to the warm summer nights. Dont dispair the friendly staff, will organise a heater for you. I enjoyed the tapas, ribs and lamb chops. No I didn't have three mains, Life makes it easy for you to share with your friends. Great mid week vibe :)

I had breakfast at life grand this week, it is a lovely outside set up however the have a bad smell which is a huge turn off. We did not move as it was a large group.<br/>I decided on the healthy breakfast consists of fruit, Greek yoghurt coconut shavings. It was really tasty however the portion was huge. Service was good.

I've been to another Life Grand Cafe before and the food was very good. However, when I got to this branch at 1510 the waiter told me they close at 1600. I said that I will just have something to drink. I waited 15 min and no waiter came to take my order and the other waiter looked away when I called him. I left with and will definitely not be back again

Great food and amazing atmosphere. You can't go wrong here. Try the salmon it's very good. Waiters are being friendly and try their best to please.
Chelcie Barnard
Such a great restaurant. Went for a Saturday lunch with friends. Service is on point and food was fantastic. The restaurant has such an inviting feel to it and amazing breeze that comes from outside, this was especially great due to the current heat wave.

Make-your-own salad bar was great and fresh. Vibe was good too! A great experience in a lovely area.

I went to the Life Grand Cafe at Waterfall corner for dinner. I went to the bathroom and when trying to get out, I realised that the door nob was broken so I was basically trapped in the tiny bathroom. I screamed and hit the door trying to attract attention, no luck. A couple of min later a gentlemen enter the bathroom heard my screams and helped me open the door. When I told the waiter what had just happened she was very dismissive and told me I should have twisted the handle, my response, "What handle". Very disappointed!

Absolutely love their salad menu and choice. You almost create your own salad at their salad bar once your protein of choice has been prepared. It was absolutely delicious and the service has been really good!!! Definite recommend to try, especially for a lovely Saturday afternoon.
Noxy Mkhulisi
Very beautiful restaurant but the service needs a lot of work!! Had to ask for the same things multiple times and our waiter was always m.i.a. Our wine took forever to arrive, and so did our food. If this doesn't bother you, give it a go
Sean Jammy
Had take away coffee there twice, first time was dismal, second was worse. If you're going to invest in top of the range Arduino pump coffee machines, surely you should manage the quality of their output?
Thavan Naidoo
Poor service and cold food. Had to wait for half an hour only to receive cold breakfast. Been here before and am truly disappointed. Definite change in management needed.
Will Kleyn
Worst service ever ... Cold food... Ended up walking out... Extremely disappointing and will not recommend. restaurant wasn't even busy ....

After hearing all the great reviews, I decided to try Life out for myself! Called in as it was on Mothers Day and as expected, it was full. However, the kind lady on the other end of the phone promised to help me out within 10 minutes of reaching there. On arrival, she organized a table for me and two friends immediately and called us a waiter - excellent service! Tried out the artisan dips for starters and the sun dried tomato paste was to die for! I had a seafood paella for mains and it was hands down the best I've had in JHB yet. As I don't consume alcohol, I was rather pleased that their version had no wine. Friends sampled the exotic mushroom pasta and the pesto cream pasta - I'm not a mushroom person but I did enjoy a taster. The pesto cream pasta was unfortunately real bland and could use a little something. Overall, an excellent culinary experience and I cannot wait to go back!

Decided to visit Life Grand Cafe for a late Sunday lunch with a some friends. The restaurant was pretty full and only one table was available outside. It was a cold day and we asked the hostess at the front if we could sit outside until a table inside became available and she basically said no because they were fully booked - almost a take it or leave it kind of attitude.<br/><br/>On the other hand, our waiter was fantastic. He was friendly and immediately set up a gas heater next to our table. <br/><br/>My sister and I shared the creamy exotic mushroom and parmesan shavings pasta with extra chicken. The pasta was delicious even though it lacked seasoning. We also ordered the Lollipop Chocolat to drink - this was a little disappointing because one would think that it is served as chocolate on a stick (as the name suggests) which is then melted in hot milk. When the drinks arrived, there were two measly pieces of dark chocolate next to the cup.<br/><br/>Not the best experience but may be worth another try!

I love everything about this restaurant ! What a lovely brunch spot ! I have visited this restaurant numerous times now and it has definitely become one of my standard weekend spots. Eclectic decor , an extensive menu and even better cocktail list , make Life Grand Cafe a formidable and refreshing rival to the Tasha's restaurants. The food is consistently good with particular mention to the mussels in a creamy garlic and white wine sauce. The service is good but could be improved- although I agree with clearing away dirty plates, on our last visit it almost felt like they were trying to rush us out of the way before we has even finished our meals. I have found passing waiters to forget a request for things like lemon slices or a new napkin but these things can all be worked on. I will be back , again and again !

A friend recommended Life Grand Cafe to me as it is one of her all time favorite restaurants. Now I know why. We went for a late lunch/Brunch and enjoyed hot chocolates, followed by the famous salads and a side plate each. It was absolutely delicious! The service was good and very attentive, including heaters being brought out for us in the cold. The restaurant itself also has a stunning layout. Highly rated and recommended!

I've come to this restaurant so many times & I seriously cannot get enough. Every dish on the menu is delectable & the staff is super friendly. I'd recommend it to anymore. Had a fabulous dinner with my mother.. "Fish cooked in a bag" & "bacon wrapped steak" with the most amazing potato side are my absolute favourite dishes. Love the wine & champagne collection.. I really can't fault it.

Contemporary cafe located in the waterfall shopping area. You may be gazing over a car park at the construction happening at the new mall but the service was quick and efficient, while the eggs benedict were cooked just right to compliment the hollandaise sauce. Couldn't enjoy the seating in the sun as I was in a rush but I would definitely go back.
Philile Mabolloane
Went there with hubby for dinner then again with a friend. I guess I needed confirmation. They have a lovely menu and great decor but the place on both occasions was packed and Ill use that to excuse the horrific service experienced on both visits. Wont ve going there again, Ill miss the food.
Rene
Not impressed. Had better at TSG. We shared Tapas. Artisan platter R180 with extra hummus R26. Chicken bland. Only tasting was the prawns. We also shared salmon ceviche swimming in sauce. Think my husband makes a better one for under R78. . Cutlery put on table without side plates? R40 for a glass of red merlot. R32 for a Windhoek! Service ... What service? Overall impression won't be back. Maybe cocktails are good as restaurant was full or people don't complain?

This is one of my favourite restaurants to dine/lounge/work at. It offers such a flexible vibe for whatever you going for. The service is always good, present managers are always a winner. The berry mojitos are my favourite, so delicious and an awesome thirst quencher. For food i have my 2 favourite meals which is the seafood in a bag and the roasted lamb shank..heaven! The seafood is so creamy and rich, made to perfection. The lamb shank is a medley of sweet potatoes and different veggies with the most amazing lamb. Definitely worth trying if you there 😊
Adrian Shannon
Although it's known for some of the best Red Velvet cake around, it's one of my favorite spots for Eggs Benedict! Good menu overall and the coffee is good too..
Julia Louise Domanski
I had a really lovely light lunch here. Gorgeous big salad with my choice of toppings like mixed olives, artichokes and crisp broccoli florets. I ordered prawns to top my salad and I must admit that I expected more than 6 little prawns for R54. My mom had the gourmet boerewors roll which was fantastic! The fresh juices are also a real treat.
Maxine Gunzenhauser
Life is absolutely lovely. I created my own Banting breakfast without a hassle (halloumi, avo, egg and coffee with pouring cream). The ambience is regal, and close attention to detail was paid when the decorating was done - even in the bathroom which is stylishly elegant. I will definitely come here one evening to try their fabulous selection of wine.

Serving Life at Life Grand Cafe!we had the amazing "lazy breakfast and salmon surprise". Besides the great food options I love that the restaurant can be used for any occasion from bar/lounge to baby showers to intimate dining. Their decor is very welcoming and home vibes yet modern. I'd love to go there for cocktails next time!

This particular Life Grand Cafe is fairly new and I must say it had lovely food. Their pastas are very very good and are rich with flavour. They make a very good cheesecake!!

Always looking for a great new breakfast spot, we popped into Life Grand Cafe this morning. It's quite easily my new favourite place for breakfast - everything on the menu sounds amazing, (it's got something for everyone) and judging by my Salmon Rosti, I'm sure everything tastes quite delicious too! With almost a Tasha's vibe and the sun out this morning, sitting outside was quite a treat. I can't wait to come back soon, perhaps even for lunch or dinner!

I agreed to meet a friend, who later got stuck in traffic...just from parking and walking towards Life, I found it to be fabulous! The rustic, but soft dĂŠcor definitely adds to the ambiance. While waiting, I had a glass of Warwick First Lady Sav. Wine options were not what I am used to (Rupert & Rothschild, Kanonnkop, etc), but my waiter knew what he was talking about when guiding me to choose Warwick (I've only had the chardonnay). I also had their prawn California rolls, which was the freshest sushi I've had in a long time. When my fried finally arrive and we ordered for take, I ordered the fillet wrapped in bacon. Absolutely divine, to a point where, when I was done, my friend looked at me, amused, and commented that I had enjoyed my meal without a doubt. It was a bit noisy for my liking, maybe because I have had a long week, but I would definitely go back, and would like to try the Hyde Park branch.

Saturday morning with the sun directly on Life Grad restaurant, I chose a seat on the patio in the sun. My friend and I went to Life Grand for breakfast and I ordered the creamy scrambled eggs with tomato and mushrooms and rocket sandwich. When the food arrived it looked great, I must admit the presentation was good that I just could not wait climbing into the dish. Delicious food, great setting and company, and 3/4's into my meal I noticed a hair. It was terribly disappointing as I was enjoying my meal. I called the manager who apologised and quickly took the sandwich away. I will give this restaurant another chance.
Megan Johnson
Eating with the Roaches!?!?! <br/>So disappointed with this cafe, the seabass was flat and tasteless not even seasoned with salt and the sauce that accompanies it was far from jalapeĂąo and mango.<br/>The paella was soggy rice with individually pan fried seafood this missing the concept of a paella as well as the flavour.<br/>But the cherry on the top was seeing roaches in the restaurant creeping up on the wall where I was sitting and the manager Jabulani when told, relaxed as if sitting on a sunny beach and didn't even bother to come an apologize?!?! SIS MAN!!! never Ever again!!!
Jevani Pillay
I love the vibe at Life Grand Cafe at Waterfall Corner. You're always bound to see a famous face. I wouldn't recommend breakfast here (because Remo's is a few feet away) but I loved the sushi, the salmon main and the mojitos! I've also tried the gnocchi- but it was very average. It's a bit on the pricey side though.
ClĂĄudia Monica Rodrigues
Hands down, one of the most visually appealing chains of restaurants/cafes in Joburg. Raw finishes combined with industrial decor make for a cosy and comfortable setting. (Although I must add, this particular branch was loud and cramped in the outside, tented area). <br/>Came past with a few friends for a coffee or two at night, before we headed home. Ordered a Horlicks, a few fruit juices, a cream cappuccino, a waffle and a Nutella flat-bread amongst the bunch of us. Yum yum, all around. Regretted not taking a photo of the flat-bread. It was devoured too quickly for me to do so!
Maajidah Agerdien
Beautiful venue. Can get a bit full and noisy. Advisable to book a table if plan to visit on a weekend. New menu was in place, so many items not available on our visit. Enjoyed our starter, main and dessert thoroughly.... Except for the mix up with our coffee, service was excellent!!!
Melissa Claassens
Lovely restaurant with a great menu. Coffee selection is great, and the best, real chocolate latte's! Definitely worth a visit ;)<br/>Can get bit noisy and tables are very close together, only con

I will never ever again visit this place. First and foremost, when we got there. We were offered a table outside because it was fully packed inside and mind you it was windy. We sat outside for 5 minutes and decided to leave as we stood up. Some young came to us and asked us why we're leaving, we can't sit outside because it's windy then she said to us, come inside there's tables. So we went inside and was offered a table. Then a waiter came to our table and we ordered 2 cafe lattes. The worst latte I have ever tasted and that was about it. We drank our coffee till it was finished then 35 minutes the waiter came back to ask if we would like to order something to eat. I asked him for the bill and told him that they can keep their food.a whole 35 good minutes passed while no one came to our table to ask us if we are fine or not whereas the waiters and waitresses were pacing up and down. Worst customer service I have experienced even the waiter didn't have the decency to apologize and when I told him about it, he said its because they are very busy hence they are so slow. Well I will never set food there. The service is pathetic.
Idalina Silva
Came here for a late night coffee and treats. The vibe of this restaurant is very energetic as loud music plays. They cater for cold nights by having heaters everywhere. The decor of this life restaurant is one of my favourites.<br/><br/>I tried the Waffle with icecream and chocolate sauce. And WOW! So delicious. The portion is very large so I would recommend sharing it with friends.<br/><br/>This is a great place to come with friends and enjoy a night out.
Alexandra Du Plessis
Shmeh - an okay spot in my opinion. Food is decent, but the slow service and constant crowds are what have kept me from coming back. <br/><br/>When I was here I ordered the Al Fume Creamy Pomodoro pasta, which was very good but nothing to go back for. Drinks were quite pricey.<br/><br/>Nice decor, but a very pretentious crowd. <br/><br/>I'd rather go somewhere else next time.
Sebastian Kelly
Life always has an impressively vibey atmosphere, and it's often difficult to get a table during their busy hours. <br/><br/>Service is often slow given the amount of people dining here during these times. <br/><br/>I've never been disappointed with the food I've eaten here. Though you'd have to mess up pretty badly to get a pizza wrong. <br/><br/>I like the instore shop, often selling interesting books and ornaments. You can see that this collection has been specially curated for the restaurant. <br/><br/>Overall, Life Grand CafĂŠ is a good spot to catchup with a bunch of friends after work.
Sharima Bramannan
Last night we went for drinks...awesome vibe and a very nice Long Island ice tea;-)<br/><br/>I luv breakfasts at this Life. From the french toast to salmon eggs Benedict, they deliver interesting variances to normal breakfast meals. Today I had the mushrooms on toast for the first time...served with poached eggs, Parmesan & rocket. Once I removed all the rocket;-), I luv'd the flavor....especially the Parmesan with the mushrooms.
Robyn Amy Fincham
Lovely cozy restaurant. Booked a table of 30, they were so accommodating and not one person was disappointed in their delicious meals. All meals were served together from an amazing, friendly wait staff. Cannot wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu!
Noxolo Felicity Shabangu
This place is just amazing. The food, the ambience, everything is just spot on. Beautiful decor as well. Definitely coming back, had an awesome evening
Gabriella Harris
Am usually the biggest fan of Life! Had the salad bar which never disappoints! The risotto on the menu is a bit deceiving as it is vegetables stuffed with rice, not really the traditional risotto. <br/>The lunch deserved a rating of 4 but 1 point taken away because of kitchen staff taking the rubbish out through the restaurant around everyone's food... Unacceptable! <br/>Zomato's recommendation of R200 for two people is definitely misleading.
Lisa
Very trendy spot which is good for drinks but food lacks flavour and seasoning. I expected more from Life as it's always busy. Don't think I will revisit
Craig
Over priced and below average food. Yet to find someone I know who has had a good meal.<br/>If it wasn't for the location they would be out<br/>Of business.
Leanne Van Breda
Gorgeous venue, fantastic menu. Wonderful to sit outside for breakfast or lunch or even cocktails in the afternoon. Stunning cocktail menu and a fantastic wine list. There's something here for everyone.
Nerissa
Great, relaxing environment outdoors and excellent food! I highly recommend their seafood which was amazing (salmon and calamari) and not to mention great service. Thumbs up.

Life Grand Cafe in Waterfall Corner is a stylish and upmarket restaurant, with great lighting and lots of modern key pieces. As we arrived yesterday, it was such a well-guarded secret that we battled to find the entrance to get into the restaurant to be honest but once we had, our table of ten were all seated (inside due to the rainy wintry weather) in a comfy booth and soon settled onto a bottle of La Motte or two. Then, it was onto our food order in the form of several Rosa Pizettes  (stretched slipper wood-fried pizzas) in two flavours: 1. Smashed Rosa tomato, mozzarella, basil, hickory ham, with Portabello mushrooms and 2. Char-grilled sirloin, roasted onions and mozzarella.  Ironically, the sirloin pizette was perfection, but sadly the ham pizette was badly burnt underneath.

Really great vibe, food and service. I ordered the seared salmon and it was lightly seared to perfection. My mojito was really good and overall presentation was great. Really a great dining experience.
Philip Van Der Walt
Lovely atmosphere and decor with a good layout. The menu is inviting and made my mouth water before even seeing the food! We enjoyed the Charcuterie platter with fresh meze dips and very refreshing spritzers. Food and drinks were well presented.
Rohan Bhasin
Good food, good portions and very nice cocktails. Its a very nice place for lunch especially when the sun's out. If you're having the tapas do try the crispy squid heads...they're amazing!
Rebone Mofulatsi
Beautiful ambiance! Refreshing and bright - even the evenings there have a very modern, romantic feel. Used to be relatively exclusive but now gets incredibly busy and noisy!<br/><br/>Wild berry mojito - FABULOUS! Good on a hot, summer day!<br/>The gourmet hot dog - loved it! Was a bit tricky to eat cause it's huge and comes with 2 wors sausages :') but great taste, with a salsa on the side, and this mustardy sauce which was divine!!<br/>Beef ribs - not a fan of whole beef cuts most times, and it was my first beef ribs experience, but i enjoyed it. :) Soft, juicy and very tasty!<br/>Staff are generally friendly and knowledgeable.<br/>I've added some pictures from a breakfast function I attended there a few weeks ago.
Gugulethu Gwamanda
Oh but the pasta!!!!! Amaze-balls! The atmosphere isn't much to sing home about nor is the service but the food compensates for all these flaws. A good place to be by day but not quite the best pick for the night. Not quite on the top of my list.
Arjun Agarwal
Great vibe. Fantastic food. Pleasant service. Good place to chill on a Sunday. Awesome variety of fabulous food you're sure not to be disappointed! Place for family or friends!

You feel like you in Cape Town, even though you sitting in a parking lot... It does not feel like it. <br/><br/>I heard so many things about the 'famous' Life restaurant and I thought people were creating massive expectations, but at the end of the day you can only truly know if you try it yourself... <br/><br/>I must say I loved it... I'm not sure what coffee they use but it has quite a nutty and sweet flavor combo to it something I haven't found with many of the coffees served in jhb... The prices are not crazy and the option of tapas is awesome, will definitely try it... We had traditional sandwiches which is your normal toasties, R55 not bad at all for chicken mayo and its delicious bread too (homemade I must add) a big portion as you can see from the photo... <br/><br/>The service, is it super fast... No, but at the same time the vibe is relaxed and Capetonian so who is in a rush ???? <br/><br/>Great work Life...
Dee Delekisa-Koko
By far my favourite restaurant around these parts! I've been there quite a few times and each time has been simply awesome. The ambience, the decor, the FOOD! Oh my goodness! I love the sirloin pizza and the basil pasta (add some chicken for protein)! And their Wild berry Mojito is definitely something to write home about! WOWZER! <br/><br/>I quite like how attentive the manager/owner is. He never fails to pop by and ask if we're having a good time. <br/><br/>Overall: great vibe, good value for money, classy and elegant, amazing food and delectable cocktails, not ideal for small children but definitely a grownup's playground!
Graeme Pyle
Address on Zomato is wrong. Thanks for wasting my time

Met up with some friends for post work drinks today. Vibe is amazing. Loads of people everywhere. Unfortunately, service is beyond slow. We were going to stay for dinner, but after waiting a long time for someone to even acknowledge us, we gave up and went elsewhere.
Darshik Garach
With a very "indoor is outdoor" theme, you get a very relaxed vibe from Life Cafe. I had brunch here with some friends, and the food was delicious - extremely good flavour. The coffee here is great as well. All in all, i think this place makes for a good "any time of day" meal.
Erasmus Bart Sihin
Great vibe, great food. After reading some of the negative reviews when the place launched I was skeptical about trying it out, but I got to say my last two visits have been great. I had previously been there for a late brekkie, my simple breakfast was fresh and prepared with love, the coffee was excellent, my wife had the nougat coffee concoction, beware it's extremely rich unless you have a sweet tooth. We decided to pop in yesterday for a quick drink and found the afternoon vibe quite different, chilled house music in the background, lots of people sipping cocktails and enjoying the sunshine. We tried out the tapas menu, bread basket and granita drink, everything tasted great and was presented beautifully. Service was excellent, the waiters were attentive and friendly on both occasions. Keep it guys, we'll definitely be back.
Andrea P. Diaz
The decor is upmarket contemporary and inviting. The ambiance is lively, and the service is exceptional. I ordered sushi and the Sea bass ceviche, which was nice. Everyone enjoyed their food, with the exception of the dessert — chocolate cake was bland and dry. Great place for lunch, with a group of friend.
TlaleletĹĄo Rasethaba
I keep coming back to this Life because of the ambience it's a lovely place to dine and chill out with friends. It is always full during weekends so if you would like to sit outside I would advise you to reserve a table. <br/><br/>Problem though is they can't handle a large capacity of people , I don't know why they don't get extra people to help in the kitchen and bar during the weekend because they can't manage and we have to suffer and settle for average drinks and food. Cocktails take forever to be prepared and no effort is made on the presentation. I like their salmon fish cakes, berry mojito and their red velvet cake. Their paella is also tasty. <br/><br/>If you're too fussy about food and drinks don't go during busy times (weekends) because they don't put in much effort in preparing the food and drinks. Food and drinks wise the one at Hyde Park is better than this one but in terms of great vibes this one wins. <br/><br/>I still love it anyways ????.
Rozz-lynne Isaacs
My 2nd visit and sadly I was terribly disappointed. In all fairness the 1st visit was just for a quick drink with a girlfriend so the service was better. However this time around terrible service and average food let this beautiful establishment down. <br/>My friend and I just wanted something light with our drinks. We ordered the tempura platter. We were terribly disappointed as it was too doughy. A complete let down. As for the drinks, the (warm) rosĂŠ we ordered was brought to our table without an ice bucket or glasses. I literally had to get up and request glasses from the bar where we were told there were no clean glasses available. The menus as well as the 3rd chair at our table was removed without establishing whether we were expecting more people. When our friends joined us later it was a battle to locate more chairs. The service as a whole was terrible. The ambience is what saved the eve for me. Will I return? I sincerely doubt it.

This was the first time I visited this Life Cafe - I am a huge fan of the one in Hyde Park which makes the best red velvet cake in Johannesburg!! <br/><br/>I loved the decor, although it is in line with the one in Hyde Park it has a lot of its own character and brings in some horsey items which ties into the area. <br/><br/>I had the watermelon granita and was pushed for time but will definitely be back to try the food.
Xoliswa Ndungane
Been here 3 timrs. Each time was awful. Looks great BUT service experience is horrible. Staff choose who they will serve well. Complicated menu. Too many flies. Fuilthy glasses. Warm juices. Sticky tables. Dirty floors...at breakfast!
Botlebosele Mofokeng
Lovely food & atmosphere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love their Paper Tiger cocktail - not for the faint hearted though!! #PerfectLocation #GreatPeeps #

Lovely atmosphere - casual environment.<br/>Interesting cappuccino designs. Nice range of Tapas to share. Desserts are a treat - excuse the pun
Natisha Balkaran
I absolutely adored this place when it was situated in hyde park. In those days, i was a regular, obsessed with their sushi, arribiata pasta and my husband loved the fish pie! The pizzas where decent and their salad bar was good! <br/><br/>However, compared to when they where at Hyde Park, the Watefall version is not too great in terms of food. Their ambience is amazing creating the perfect spot for lunches, brunches and celebratory dinners. However, my pasta seems cooked with sauce out of a can and the fish pie had large chunks of some cheapskate fish and other seafood elements where nonexistent. I didnt even make it to dessert.<br/><br/>However, if the old hyde park version is anything to go by, this place definitely has the potential to be awesome. Think the negatives are just an expected curveball resulting from a new location, new staffing and management. I will continue to go there till it becomes what i expect it to be:)
Bronwyn Esterhuizen
Excellent spot for lunch, drinks and dinner! Their menu offers a selection of dishes that are bursting with flavour and are made with the absolute freshest ingredients. My favourite item on the menu is "The Best Fish Pie" - it really is the best! Management is excellent too.
Garth Balabanoff
Fantastic little restaurant at Waterfall Corner. If you haven't been its a real must. Pretty much every dish is served well and with love. Have yet to have a bad meal. <br/>Top dishs - Fish Pie,  any pizza and the Seafood risotto.
Percy Morena
Great place to chill with friends not ideal for a business meeting cause the tables are too close to each other is like you came to dine with other people#privacy forget
Nsindiso Hlatshwayo
Awesome setup awesome vibe awesome location. Service was a bit slow and out of stock on most of what we wanted. Food was lovely just served cold.
Natasha Moodley
Good service and great vibe. The watermelon, rose and basil smoothie is a very refreshing drink for summer. The rose water is a bit over powering. We ordered the seafood paella which is nothing like a seafood paella. It was meant to be tomato based but it was cream and tomato based. Would be better as a risotto. The salmon was in excess and the meal could do with less fish and more mussels. The lamb cutlets were perfect.
Matshidiso Malongete
Life Grand is located in a great area it has the most stunning interior and a Fantastic vibe, amazing very tasty cocktails, food is also good, couldn't fault the service, I would definitely recommend it to anyone!!

Mcqueen cocktail when the lady said it was the first time she ever sold it since they opened the resturant, i got worried.<br/>But my oh my... i would do it again and again.<br/>The ferroro cake was delightful,yummy.<br/>Its worth your time.

This fantastic restaurant in the waterfall corner shopping centre - for breakfast, lunch or dinner this is the place to be! Service is fantastic and food outstanding! Sushi is fresh and their chocolate pot dessert is worth the wait - it's perfect to share with your loved one! Cocktails look incredible and creative presentations astound! Can be a little noisy, but it's part of the vibe!

I visited Life Grand in Waterfall and had the most apalling service. It was not even 10 past 10 in the evening, my boyfriend and I were finishing our last drink before we left, we got up and stepped outside for 5 mins 9with our stuff till at the table), and by the time we got back, the waiteres and waitresses had taken the cushions off our chairs and were literally packing up under our feet. When I asked about this stating that we wouldn't even be there for 10 mins more, I was told, "oh well, we are packing up". I also saw crazy things like one waiter chasing another throwing what looked like a slice of biltong at her colleague. I was not impressed at all, especially since this is in an up and coming neighbourhood, and this was Saturday evening. Try again, bitterly disappointed customer.
Ka Wing 88
What a great outdoorsy restaurant (ignore the fact that you look into the parking lot though!). We went for an early Saturday morning breakfast only to find a packed, bustling restaurant! <br/><br/>It has quite a substantial menu. Being early on a Saturday morning my brain was in no position to be reading lots of words. I spotted the croissants, and that's where I stopped trying to read. <br/><br/>I had the croissant with bacon and brie and caramelised onion. It looked and tasted amazing (I really should take more photos?!). The entire table enjoyed their food. Most of the others had been here before and clearly they are happy with the quality of food. The waiter was attentive, the coffees were piping hot, the ambiance was buzzing! <br/><br/>Overall, a good experience and I'll be back for sure!
Andile Coffy Magiba
1.Slow service = waiting 1 hour for food and 30minutes for a drink , 2.unseasonsed and oily food = blend oily and unseasoned food very worrying....expectations not at all reached!! Really worrying!!
Duncan Olivier
The restaurant was brilliant, there, presentation of the food was eye catching. There were no problems except trying to find the restaurant at first because there was no name outside the building but overall great food and great service
Greg De Chasteauneuf
Not impressed. Food is average but expensive! No wifi! Had to leave early to find a coffee shop next door that had wifi. Will not be back, don't be fooled by the impressive decor. Wifi is a MUST people!
Michelle
A beautiful restaurant, the decor, layout and ambiance is phenomenal! The service is exceptional and the food is perfection.<br/>We shared the gourmet burger and borewors roll and I am struggling to decide which one I preferred. Really impressed!<br/>Also try the watermelon, elderflower and rose water granita it is delicious!!!
Jane Kleynhans
Beautiful setting and the food looks devine however it is ridiculously priced and not that incredible. I don't plan on going back here anytime soon. What a pity!
Cherise Roberts
Sunday lunch at the new life in waterfall estate was great. Beautiful restaurant with a busy, trendy and bustling vibe. The self serve salads are awesome and although I didn't have any, their cakes look delish!Great service too. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Verushen
Waiter totally confused. Forgot order, food 1 hour late and average at best
Alison
We had dinner at Life on Friday night. We found the food generally bland and tasteless. And the tapas portions are small and exceptionally expensive given their size. They are aiming to be super trendy, but not getting the basics right. My husband ordered beers and they arrived warm. Service speed was generally good.
Marion
Possibly the worst restaurant I've been to in Johannesburg. Service was extremely slow, staff were unfriendly and unprofessional and the food was less than mediocre. What a let down.
Nafisa Akabor
I went here weeks ago on a Sunday morning for brunch. The place was quite busy, so service was slow. Once we were seated and given menus, the waiter took his own time to take our drinks order. And then another long wait to get our drinks. I was under the impression that I'd get coffee art, just like the Hyde Park branch, but was disappointed. I'm not sure if this has changed since. I ordered the calamari and was very disappointed with the portion size, definitely not worth the price. My husband has said he's never returning here. I am in two minds as I'd like to try the seafood paella I saw on the menu at least once, but it doesn't appear to be on the menu loaded here. I won't be rushing back here though.

I went to Life Grande Cafe with a friend for lunch yesterday and was not impressed by the food.<br/>I had linguine with creamy exotic mushrooms with Parmesan shavings. There were no Parmesan shavings and the sauce was extremely bland - it lacked seasoning. There were however a fair amount of mushrooms.<br/>My friend had spaghetti with beef bolognaise ragu, the ragu hardly had any minced meat, the pasta was swimming in liquid.<br/>The staff are friendly though and I like the decor.

We ate at Life Grand Cafe on Sunday night, 25 May 2014. We were slightly disappointed. Two people ordered the Calamari main course, but it was smaller than most restaurants' starter portions with a tiny basket of fries to accompany it. Both people left the restaurant hungry. The manager did however remove one of the calamari's from the bill, so that was a nice gesture. Secondly, the kitchen closed at 8pm, which is fine. But, in my experience with other restaurants, you usually cannot order food after that time, but you can still finish you meal in peace, and order a coffee (and with some restaurants even dessert) afterwards, but everything closed at 8pm sharp! They even started stacking chairs around us (and several other tables) which made us feel quite unwelcome. Everybody was clearly in a rush to close up for the night.<br/><br/>The other food, lamb chops and chicken korma, was decent, but overall not a great first impression. I am willing to go back one more time to see if it gets better. <br/><br/>The manager and staff was very friendly.

y girl and I love trying new breakfast spots, when we saw Life Grand Cafe at the new Waterfall shopping complex, we couldn't resist trying it. The test of every breakfast spot has to be their fullest version of a breakfast. We visited on 21/04/14<br/><br/>My breakfast contained (excluding the grilled tomato which is really cooking):<br/>- New potato<br/>- Mushrooms<br/>- Baked beans<br/>- Eggs<br/>- Bacon<br/>- Sausage<br/>- Toast<br/><br/>Lets go through them in order, the potatoes I felt were not a good addition, and I was right, they were only just cooked, but were too thick to allow any flavour to soak into them, and their was too much of it on the plate.<br/><br/>Mushrooms were average, nothing special. Just fried in some form of fat, not even seasoned. Baked beans tasted like they were straight out of a tin. I ordered my eggs sunny side up, I don't mind a slightly underdone egg but this one was covered in uncooked egg white and looked and felt slimey. I think they served back bacon, it was a bit mangled on the plate so I couldn't make it out, either way it was far too dry, I bit of butter while cooking would have made a massive difference. The sausages were just sad, they were little wors sausages, but felt completely generic, nothing special about them at all. The toast was excellent, good crunch and great flavour.<br/><br/>On that point, the entire meal felt very ordinary and unsatisfying, not to mention we were constantly harassed by flies, being an open type restaurant, I don't think they can stop them from coming in.<br/><br/>Service was decent, you could tell the servers were new, but they tried very hard.<br/><br/>Ambiance was good, the setting was exceptional, although i doubt I'll be there in Winter, the open setting will not be pleasant on colder days. Plus, I did feel a bit squashed and packed in with the seating arrangement. Kids in prams were a nightmare, oh and let's not forget a very well disguised step that more than one person tripped over.<br/><br/>The menu design is not my favourite, it's difficult to read, and loose pages are not my thing. I prefer menus that are simple and clear.<br/><br/>All in all, I felt very under whelmed and was left very unsatisfied. Maybe I'll try them again next summer, but with the variety of food spots in Woodmead and Sunninghill I may never find my way back there. <br/><br/>Ratings out of 5:<br/><br/>- Service 3<br/>- Ambiance 3.5<br/>- Food 2

We usually go to Life Grand Cafe at Hyde Park, so when we heard that a new one was opening at the Waterfall Corner Mall, we decided to give if a shot. I understand that the restaurant is new, but the quality of the food does not seem to be as good as the one served at Hyde Park. My sushi was great, but the slow cooked lamb that my husband had was not as tender and tasty as the one we are used to. The desert variety was a bit disappointing (fresh cakes) and my father in law ordered Malva Pudding but he got a runny cream that not even the waiter could explain what it was... We still don't know if they have Malva pudding at the restaurant or not, because this was certainly not. <br/><br/>We will go back, probably a couple of months from now, after the opening stage of the restaurant is finished. In the meantime, we will stick to Life Grand Cafe at Hyde Park... We love their sushi and pizzas!

So I thought I'd try some of the new restaurants in my area and went to the new Waterfall Corner complex. Overlooking a construction site, there is frenetic energy as the Waterfall Omniplex takes shape.<br/>Life is fairly well appointed with an interesting, if not disconnected layout making for intimate, and sometimes forgotten dining enclaves. We were well received and took our seats. <br/>Our friendly waiter gave us the paper menu, which looked well used and took our beverage order. The cuppucino was very good which we sipped while perusing the elaborate menu. The menu was well written, if not a little over the top with Faux French.<br/>As it was breakfast time, I ordered the simple omelette with hickory ham. My partner ordered the Mediterranean breakfast.<br/>After a while, the food arrived. It was less than impressive.<br/>My omelette was flat, rubbery, dry and uninspiring with a side of greasy baby potato wedges.<br/>I got the good option.<br/>My partners meal was a disaster. A stale, burned mini-loaf stuffed with over caramelised onions and feta.<br/>I believe this restaurant is in its infancy and feel that if it is going to last the next few months, they will need a new executive chef (or wake up the current one who is clearly sleeping in the back). With other phenomenal options to choose from in the same center, they need to start afresh and align the adjectives in their menu with what is served on their plate.

A friend and I decided to go have cocktails at Waterfall Corner last night. As the centre is very new and there are many new vibey restaurants, we were spoilt for choice. We decided to go to a restaurant called Life which was very appealing as it was buzzing with people. As we were not having dinner, we were seated at the bar. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and it has an impressionable ambience. The cocktail menu was very enticing with a selection of different and alluring cocktails. I settled for a watermelon daiquiri mocktail and my friend had a pina colada. My watermelon daiquiri was to die for and it was such a pleasant experience sitting at the bar, we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I looked at the food menu as a matter of interest and found the food to be very pricey, however the few meals that I did see being served to patrons looked spectacular. I would definitely like to go the restaurant for a meal and I look forward to it.
