Review Mythos - Midrand

Meat was a little tough, not sure why the silver skin was left on and food was a little cold.

Delicious food, great service

We were a group of friends that came in for a quick lunch. We all had the squid and artichoke salad. We also tried the Sardinian Haloumi. All our food was delicious. The only fault with our lunch was that our waiter tried to take our food away before we had finished twice! Please show your waiters the difference between done and still busy.

This place is super affordable and serves good quality food. The area is quite buzzing and nice for a group outing. 😍

Inconsistent. Great fish and prawns in June but average in August. The variety of side veggies seems to be seasonal and although the prep and flavor of veggies in June was great, in August is was just boiled veggies on a plate.

I still love the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. Service is attentive and quick.

This was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had and what you could call robbery R190

Good food, good service. Very well setup restaurant. Food comes out very quickly. Portions are great for sharing which gives you the opportunity to order various options. Great vegetarian selection

We came here for Christmas lunch. The place was packed and the kitchen just couldn’t handle the orders. I had a fillet on the bone with Greek style chips. The fillet was really tasty (but well done isn’t of the medium I ordered). Chips were average. Didn’t get my starter. Didn’t get a knife and fork and had to wait 10 minutes for one 😄. The waiters were friendly though and were definitely trying their best.

Won’t be back anytime soon!

I love anything that resembles a shawarma or wrapped scenario so Mythos already had me there my friend had the sardines which she seemed to really enjoy. I had been sitting in my car for hours because of 94.7 and so appreciated that when I asked Patricia for a really large glass of water she brought me possibly the largest glass she could offer. Was the food amazing it really wasn’t but it was fresh and tasty and the service faultless and on hot day with refreshments well received that’s all I needed

My first visit to Mythos MoA was extremely disappointing. After ordering drinks and a vegetarian starter of various dips, the mains were ordered as per pictures below. The Prawn special was tasteless and far from fresh. The halloumi and falafel pita was served cold with barely any dressing nor falafel in sight. The service was beyond shocking with both Manager and Waiter displaying zero customer service. Definitely not worth visiting again. The Irene branch is still far better with food quality and service.

Great location!!!
Atmosphere is really good for a Wednesday evening, the staff is attentive and most importantly the food is really good! Keep it up! I’ll be back soon!

So today my friends and I decided to go to Mythos mall of Africa for lunch and I was really pleased with not only the service, but the very well prepared food. In a first, I ordered two meals. I first took advantage of the 300g T-bone special and because I was blown away by how delicious it was, I ordered a medium rare rump steak right after I was done with the first plate. There was a party in my mouth on both occasions and it was an overall good experience. The restaurant was half full and the ambiance was great. The staff was very friendly as well as t the lady that served us. I'm coming back again and I recommend it to anyone who wants a good meal worth its value.

Great atmosphere and service, was very comfortable, even with 3 busy kids. T-Bone special good value for money, could have been a bit more tender though.

Ornella Scarpellini
I love this place! Food is always good. It's fresh and tasty. Not too keen on the service though. Our waitress made me feel like she was doing me a favour by serving me.
I go to mythos often and this is the first time I've had such mediocre service.
Candice Ying Sun
customer service was great everything was bought quickly and no incorrect orders however I did not enjoy the food it was bland and dry. Wouldn't recommend this place
ShĂ mai-Sassy Khan
Customer service is good, I think thats the highlight. The food is mediocre, not really the Greek/ Mediterranean taste you're looking for with the main meals. The tapas are simple which are good.
Sita
I love the decor! That's the standout aspect of this restaurant. I was pretty satisfied with the vegetarian option I had - a meze platter. The salmon salad my fellow diner had wasn’t impressive, I was told, and the restaurant was ‘stingy with the salmon’.
Siki Gogo
Me and my boy find ourselves lunching here maybe once a week. They've got great value lunch specials, but also awesome tapas if you want to mix and match. If you a vegetarian, they have delicious options such as the giant black mushroom covered in feta and spinach, the falafels, and other delights. For the seafood and meateaters, their fried squids are awesome, so are the chicken livers. But what deserves a special mention, and has me up at 11:30pm writing this review are their lamb riblets. Whether you having the tapas portion or the full portion...listen, I would not lead you astray. Game changer.
Marno Louw
Service and vibe was nice. Food was really disappointing, especially if you take into account the cost. Lamb very tough and heavily overcooked. Chicken dry and bland. Unfortunate.
Risuna Manganyi
I had a beautiful and delicious salad, I'll definitely go back for a meal. The service was just as awesome and I was a happy guest, I chose I great restaurant

I can't say one bad thing, great service, fabulous food and great cocktails. Thanks for an awesome dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
very lovely intimate place. one of my favorite mythos branches. had a chocolate cake and even though it was underwhelming the atmosphere made up for it.
Gugu Jabulile Makhanya
Beautiful place indeed. I really enjoyed the food and the cake was to die for and out waitress was spot on with her recommendations. This place is great value for your money
Greshwald Ragovan
Nice clean and refreshing atmosphere. A bit expensive when taking kids with. Food was great and will visits again. We all enjoyed the food. Service was good compare to some restaurants in the mall.
Linda Magowan
On a very hot evening we had to sit behind closed glass because rowdy kids, most dressed in their underwear, were using the fountain as a play pool, splashing everyone trying to get to restaurants on the piazza. There was a beach theme park further down, so surely having noisy kids on the piazza shouldn’t be permitted?

We ordered hummus and bread as starters and the hummus came slapped on a plate. No presentation skills. There was only one side included so we ordered creamed spinach to share which also came slapped on a plate. The food was nice but unfortunately lack of presentation and the ambiance caused the low score. We couldn’t wait to leave! Restaurants and the mall management should do something about this.
Dashuan Naidoo
Food is way too overpriced. Service is poor as waiters tend to be awkward when speaking to customers. Meals are disappointing. Will not be returning in the future. Ordered the prawn pasta only to be met with an oily mess.
Pierre Le Grange
Where service and good food came to die. Its terrible, don't go there. In fact terrible is too good a word for what it is. Service non-existent. Food atrocious. At least the beer was warm. Oh wait, thats a bad thing
Jose Brito
Average. Fair offer of starters, dipps snd mains. Humus, zucchini fries, squid heads, kota, beef yiro and greek salad were not taste surprising. Nice service but can take some time. Easy parking in the mall, 15-20€/pax. One shot.
Adele Du Toit
Great food, friendly service and excellent management and customer care. We came here for our company’s year end lunch and it was fantastic. Super organised, excellent personal touch and greek hospitality at its best. You guys are awesome 👏

I'm not big on Malls and Mall of Africa is no different!
However if you have a random afternoon off, pop in here for a lunch that won't disappoint.

Let me start by saying that this is about my third visit to Mall of Africa and the one thing I hate about Malls, is the effort involved in remembering where you parked your ride home ;-(.
So I remembered, second turn right into the Mall.

That's all I remembered and not the level and between you and I, it is the second level and bang you right in front of all the restaurants... no more walking through this Mall.

I kinda found out about the specials before hand.
So it's :
# Opa- A Mythos Beer with a choice of Yiro (choice of beef, chicken, pork or halloumi) or 200g steak for only R85'00.
# Lunch Special is the other one and I'm not writing it out!!! Check pics

The setting was lovely, very European...Greek.
The service was very friendly but then again I'm a friendly guy.
Placed our order (btw that's the special above...the steak) and this 200g steak arrives and I'm thinking ..."is this a starter?"... 200g is small, let's be honest and call a spade a a spade a 200g steak is small. So I started eating...
Eating the chips first, "Wow! these chips are fantastic!"... I ate them all. Got to my steak but left not one chip... Common a 200g steak!!!

Think that steak heard me because it was one of the better steaks I ever had, not "steak" house but wow!
It was just a perfect meal, diet not compromised. Not a complete banting meal but... feels like I didn't cheat on my diet ("between you and me there is no diet").

The steak was just right and yes fantastic, and the chips were magnificent, not one left magnificent.

The Mall was quiet, took plenty time to walk the meal off... glanced at every restaurant, walked the garden or perimeter and... "what chip's"?

Fantastic afternoon at the Mall of Africa, knowing where to park is such a pleasure.
No more trekking across this Mall.

Visited this Mythos for the first time, twas fairly empty so service was very quick.
Had the calamari tubes and chips which are a favourite, twas quite PERFECT definitely recommend it.
Patience Waendepi
The food was very good tasting we just didn't get parmesan cheese for the pasta good ambiance
Good setting for the shop thanks for the dinner
Thank the good lord they changed their houmous supplier.
It used to be tasteless... now its passable... but the skordalia went from good to wallppaper gum... what the hades guys?

Anyways the place is welcoming and nicely laid out.i like sitting upstairs for a sort of exclusive vibe.

So this review is a bit belated, we went to the it premier at moa so the show was kicking off at 10pm. So we arrived at the doors of mythos at a little before 8, sat down and ordered the cold platter, hot platter, my favourite kolokothakia and skordalia and some sardines.

We only just made it to the movie but I'm not sure if it was us or them that was slow... either way the food was largely good, nothing stood out though. I like the casual sharing vibe

What sucks is that the chairs are covered in plastic that doesn't breath... and it gets pretty warm upstairs and you stick... and sweat.. and ech.

It was awesome though.

A refreshing restaurant overlooking the fountains. A Greek restaurant which made u feel like u were in the Mediterranean. We had the fish and chips special at only R60 we enjoyed it very much together with the crispy chips and butter sauce just had to watch out for those sneaky bones. Waitress was very friendly and would definitely try again when we not in a rush
Lerato Tiroyabone
The service here is not bad. We had the seafood platter for two. The dips were not particularly exciting for the taste buds but everything else was good. Their pita bread is very good. We would definitely come back again and probably try something else on the menu. @ofentsekgoa
Priya Lalla
Lovely ambiance, starter chicken livers are delicious. Mains not so much, Abit to bland for me. The hot veggies a big no no - no taste at all. The lamb chops also very bland.
Wynand De Beer
The service was excellent from start to finish. We had the Souvlakia and was cooked as requested. I can recommend the Loukoumades to anyone with a sweet tooth. All round great ambiance will definitely visit again

I Really enjoyed the atmosphere and setting of the restaurant. The decor is modern and welcoming. Really well designed. Service was also really good. However I was disappointed with the food. I ordered a halloumi pita and was really disappointed. It was a wrap I would expect to get from a fast food restaurant not a restaurant like Mythos. The halloumi was fairly hard and the pita was filled with tomato and cucumber. Didn't really have a Greek taste to it at all. Really don't think the dish deserves to be on the menu.

First time diner at Mythos and we enjoyed the mezze options. However, the pita was the real winner 👍🏽.
Overall, the food was:
Comfortable
Yummy
Filling

I'd have to say that the service received today was the absolute worst we've received, waiter was extremely nonchalant he spilled water in our meal not even an apology

I love Mediterranean food and mythos always delivers. I'm hooked on their weekday specials. Great for the pocket and palate.my favourite dish is the bifteki.

Came here for lunch when I was up in joburg 2 weeks ago - such a great decision!

The menu is lovely and varied, with so many options that you'll struggle to choice. We started off with peri-peri chicken livers, fried halloumi and squid heads. The livers were divine, done in a fantastic sauce with peppers and onions. The halloumi was extremely salty and the squid heads were divine as well.

For mains I tried the calamari wrap; massive portion but so tasty and the calamari was lovely and soft. The hake and chips was also tried, as well as the chicken skewers, both enjoyed.

Our waitress gave incredible service with a smile on her face at all times. We throughly enjoyed our afternoon here.

I had hosted a farewell lunch for 30 people at this branch today. The atmosphere was wonderful. I had requested to for my guests to be seated in a different area to the other normal guests in the restaurant.

Upon arrival i was ushed to my tables that were very beautifully setup upstairs and we had a group of waiters assisting.

I had selected one of the set menus (menu 7) for my guest. The food was all well season and quite tasty and well presented. I was quiet happy when all my guests received their starters, mains and deserts together and no one was left waiting while the other were eating. The timing between meals were also very well planned and appreciated.

We had to select from a list of mains which included lamb shank, prawn and kingklip, chicken breasts, beef fillet calamari. All dishes were well presented.
Desert was the best course for me. We had a choice of Greek yoghurt with baklava or donuts with ice creams. My guest enjoyed both immensely.

My head Waiter was quite helpful. I would however suggest that the other staff have the same energy and knowledge. As the day went on their energy level dropped and it felt almost forced, which really disappoint me. I also had to ask them to check if my guest needed their drinks topped up,and I felt they should have been more proactive.

Rischa
Definitely a fantastic place to visit on your birthday - you get to literally smash a plate on the floor. There is a big variety of interesting choices on the menu, and the food doesn't disappoint.
Dominiqueangel87
If I could give the place a lower score I would. The manager is so arrogant. We had a large table at lunch. We waited over an hour for our food. One meal wasn't brought at the same time. Every restaurant has a bad day, but it is how it's staff deal with it. The manager here is a liability to the establishment. He doesn't have PR skills at all.
Francine Dellene Chemanah
Great family atmosphere and Greek setting. Unfortunately the food did not live up to great standards this time around. My main course arrived cold to my table both the chicken and calamari. Mains took around an hour to arrive at our table. My baked baklava Cheesecake was dry lacking that syrup that a great baklava supposed to encompas. When addressing with the manager my col food, he tapped me on my back, smiled and said sorry. Extremely hungry to engage a war on cold food...
Hoopa.... not.

The food at Mythos was amazing. True Greek cuisine. Their service is also incredibly good, especially since they were fully booked. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely go bac
k

Wow! What a superb restaurant - decor, ambience, service and food are all world class!
The oysters, calamari and king prawns were sublime and the waiters and manager probably the friendliest and nicest people we have encountered in a very long time!
5 Stars!!!!!

Dining out is always difficult as my mom has lots of allergies, but after our meal at Mythos she had an empty plate and a big smile on her face! After asking the waiter if the meal she wanted to order contained any of the things she's allergic to, he made a note and called the manager. The manager then came to our table, talked to my mom and went to double check with the kitchen staff before returning and assuring my mom that her meal would be exactly how she ordered it. When my mom's meal came it was exactly what she ordered (this rarely happens at restaurants!) The manager then came again (without being asked) to check if her food was okay. Our waiter, Simba, was friendly, attentive and diligent! The rest of my family's (including my own food) was fresh and delicious! My mother even requested that we have Mother's Day at Mythos in Menlyn Maine!
All in all, excellent food, excellent service and an excellent manager! I can't recommend this place enough!

My family was up and we decided to get Mythos in Irene Mall, but decided to go to Mythos in the Mall of Africa instead as there were other family there. I had steak and calamari. Food was good and service was good.
Liam Ullrich
Wonderful seating area - especially great if you have kids who want to run through the fountains and cascaded grass area. Food was good - chicken was a bit dry however. At the end of our meal, our waiter kinda forgot about us.
Food Man
Good. Service is great but the quality of the dish is not as good as the Montecasino branch. Excellent value for money provided you don't get too greedy on your tapas selection.
Gaiqqa
Food was excellent! Portion size matched price.

We also had takeaway meze and the sizes of those portions were equivalent to the sit-down portion.

Our waitress was pleasant and friendly.

Pig & Rant
Amazing! I enjoyed every aspect of my lunch here and I would happily recommend it to anyone.

The decor is beautiful and reminiscent of long sunny days in Greece. It tile work is gorgeous as well as all the furniture. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy going.

We orders 6 different dips and a whole basket of put a breads. All the dips were to die for and the put was warm and fresh. Delicious!

We also ordered the Greek meat balls with chips, the calamari salad, grilled calamari and the beetroot salad. It was all too too good! I am a huge fan of beet root and that salad was divine!

The calamari was cooked to perfection and the seasoning in every dish was spot on.

Service was also great and I can't wait to go back soon!
There are a lot of options in Mall of Africa, we tried Mythos today and it was a mistake. We have been waiting 45 minutes for our starter, is not acceptable
Himesh Mistry
Now here's a place that has good vibe and food. I am a fan of tapas. Allows one to try different flavours and still give the tummy space to breath. Authentic flavours.
Monochrome
Below average food. Poorly trained staff- just hanging around the front of the restaurant chit chatting. Seem uninterested & like they have been picked up randomly & placed in the restaurant. Plates & glasses chipped. Bees everywhere. Light a candle instead of letting the customers flail their arms around. Absolute waste of money
Vassilis
Beautiful evening with a great vibe, plate braking from about a 10 kids and their families.
Food was served in a reasonable time and very flavorful and inviting you to dive in.
Our waiter was friendly and helpful.
A definite must for me and my friends.
Iselle Brill
Terrible experience with the management of this store. They argued with us about the fact that the menu states that the seafood platter came "grilled" by default and that we needed to ask for fried if we wanted it (no option offered by the waiter). Instead of simply offering to help us get what we would like. They preferred to continue arguing, even stating that "they've made the platter already and they would have to throw it away if we don't eat it". Terrible attitude. Making us feel like criminals for wanting something that is so obvious (fried calamari and squid heads is apparently only an option for the maze meals. - not on the seafood platter). I agree, if the menu states that its grilled - we should ask specifically for fried in future, however, i don't appreciate being challenged and argued with about something that would likely not even have cost them much to simply solve for us.
Sean Van Zyl
Quite enjoyed the Greek restaurant experience again. The setting is great and quite authentic. The oysters were tasty and fresh. The yiro was quite delicious too. Tried the lamb chops, which were fair to good. Next time I'll try the more authentic dishes. A good dining experience

Went through to the Mythos in MoA ffor a quick meal last year. Restaurant is located in the outside area where the fountains are and have both and inside and outside seating area. I ordered the lamb ribs with wedges. The ribs were good, rich, but had a little too much of the fat on it. If you add the chili sauce you have a winner.. the service is great and the waiters are attentive...
Shaheel Garach
A real favourite of mine given the location, ambiance and food options. I have not been impressed the last 2 visits to the restaurant. Could not get waiters attention to order food and drinks. Waiters seem uninterested in following up on the table. Poor service although the food is always great.
Angie
This place Cod do batter ;)

The venue- seriously beautiful, we sat on the top level and it was so romantic.
Service: really good, our waitress was really on the ball!
Vibe: Fun, happy, festive and warm Greek vibes.
Cleanliness: we found some 'gunk' on one of the glasses
Food: Terrible! We had the:
Seafood platter for 2
The hake was dry & burnt
Calamari tubes were spongy
Squid head weren't too bad
Mussels were nice
Prawns had no real flavour

If you go there and they are doing better, let Minnow. :)

Good food and great atmosphere. The service was amazing and fast. Had a cocktail too and it was delicious 😋 dessert was unbelievably yummy.
Lyle Julius
Good food. Great atmosphere. I havent been to Mythos in years and i glad we decided to on this hot summer day. I loved the decor and overall presentation. The service however could be and id give it 2.5/5. I have no doubt that they will improve on this.
Tiffiny-Jane Schwartz
The food was disgusting. The steaks were not done according to the order and when the manager Angelo was approached regarding the order, he was hostile, rude and aggressive and told us that is how the steak is done at Mythos. The food took over an hour. Unpleasant and embarrassing experience for an apparently upmarket restaurant!

25 July 2018
I had the phyllo pastry with feta cheese and spinach and these were so good. The bakes cheesecake is my favourite and the only baked cheesecake i have.

The atmosphere and setting is beautiful..we went for a quick lunch and service was fast and efficient..food was good too had the prawn katafi, croquettes and feta parcels (this tasted more like a dessert to me)..great place to have a snack and soak in the sun and surrounding
Hlayisani Sambo
A calm environment ideal to catch some clean and fresh seafood and Greek cuisine. My experience at this outlet has been great. I once started my supper with dessert and worked my way up. Great for date night and chilling sessions.
Sharima Bramannan
I can't say I enjoyed my lunch here. Mythos has a lovely location on the piazza, so you can soak in the sun & vibe. We had the meze platter for two...keftethes, fillet & chicken souvlaki, prawns, calamari, yiro, chicken livers, tzatziki, taramosalata & pita bread...it was nice; but we requested that the beef be swooped for something else and were sold we'd get charged an additional half price for the something else...I don't like the inflexibility; I must say the yiro was particularly good. Had the baklava for dessert and was left disappointed...the pastry was a little soggy & I couldn't taste the sweetness.
Leo Burg
I love Mythos in general as they cater for my vegetarian diet but this is my favorite Mythos spot as it's spacious and you truly get the Greek feel when at Mythos - Mall of Africa. I always receive good service here.
FoodiewhippedSA
Greek food one of my favourite cuzines. I love tge pitas and the yogurt that all blends together. We decided to check out mall of Africa for the 1st time and we're pleasantly surprised by Mythos that had there and decided to give it a try Omg it was amazing. Everything was fresh and really tasty.

Great selection of wine and very friendly staff. Really enjoyed it here.Neeta Raga-D

I tried their pickled octopus, it was extremely tough and chewy, how very disappointing. However, their feta, Gruyere and Emmentaler cheese croquetes were just beautiful balls of flavour.
FERNANDO PINTO
Early supper on a Sunday evening. The food was ok, nothing to go back for. The prawns were dry and had very little taste, the Mythos steaks were very average. The calamari nothing to write home about. What made it worse was the fact that the place was so empty and the food took so long to arrive. The waitress was far busier on her phone behind the stair case and it became almost impossible to get her attention. I blame it on management, they were there, doing what, I don't know. Next time we will go to Ocean Basket next door, the vibe was better, the place was busy and I am sure much more affordable.
Sam
We visited Mythos for lunch. The decor at this branch is modern, Mediterranean and really quite pretty. They have a few specials for lunch price at R58 - they competing with Ocean Basket next door so it's a smart move on their part.

We tried the hake and chips special. The fish was delicious. I had the calamari meze and chips special which was also yummy. I didn't like the chips they were not the perfect combination of crispy outside and squishy inside, they were a little too thick and looked refried not fresh. While the special prices are decent I don't think the amount of food is very filling.

We also had the trip of dips and pita. We chose the feta dip which was quite liquidy, tzatsiki and olive tapenade. The pitas were very thick and the flavour of the dips were average. I think Mezepoli does much better dips.

Service was okay but our waiter was often hard to track down. Overall I enjoyed the mains of fish & calamari but not really anything else. It's a nice option for me for light delicious food but I wouldn't say it's my favourite Greek restaurant and I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

Eve
I went here soon after the mall opened, the outside eateries were packed and you could tell your service was going to be slow.We then opted for Mythos which was less occupied.Immediately you notice the crisp blue and white dĂŠcor, you are transported to Greece. The set up is amazing and stunning. The food was great( tapas style) and the drinks were reasonable.I tried the sardines and a few other things, all good.
Neeta Raga-D
Lovely food! Great staff and service the management where awesome! Lovely wines on the menu. Love Greek food and Mythos gets it just right. Affordable meals, situated upstairs at the mall of Africa, the most beautiful views in the evening of people together enjoying food.
Christiaan Strydom
I've eaten at another Mythos branch before and really enjoyed it, and this time was no different.

Me and two friends went and got a few different Meze dishes, a bottle of wine, and had a really pleasant lunch together. Thr restaurant was really busy but we managed to get a table without waiting too long. The staff was friendly and helpful too.

I particularly enjoyed the soudsoukakia and the kota
Cuppycake
We came here (11 Sep 2016)for a light dinner and it was great, tasty Greek food. It's the first time i've been to a Mythos and i wasn't dissapointed. We shared a seafood and meat platter which was delicious! I will definately be back to try more on the menu!
Ursula Van Rooyen
Such a great restaurant, the meat meze platter was so delicious and really enough for 2. The salad for the table is also more than enough. Service efficient and friendly. It's a goodie for a nice Saturday afternoon boozey lunch.
Tracey Felicidade Jones
I popped in there for a quick bite and the food was ok. I chose the calamari and the portion was filling even though initially it looked quite small. Waitress did not know what a "flying fish" was, but I still got my drink in the end. Nice view and setting
Devin Sage
A good meal let down by bad service. Everything I had was great. Greek food is always delicious in my opinion. Big flavours and big portions, not too big at least. The Soudsoukakia was excellent! The salsa was perfectly balanced, not too acidic. I like to add lemon to mine. The Beef Fillet Souvlakia was great but I found presentation was lacking. It was tender and tasted great. Unfortunately the service was a huge disappointment. To start off with, we seemed to wait quite a while before he came over to take our drink orders. I felt almost as if the waiter was rushing us through our meal and he did not know the menu well at all and came across as pretty irritated when asked any questions about anything on the menu. If it wasn't for the total lack of people skills I would have no doubt given a far higher score because Greek food is in my top 5!
Simryn De Jager
So this Mall of Africa version is quite nice. Good chilled atmosphere and a nice upstairs seating area. Prawn linguine was slightly over-salted but my Astakamakaronada (Lobster) was quite pleasing! Decent size and good flavour. Didn't love that Proseco cocktail, expected some better flavours, perhaps higher ratio of Proseco to water/tonic water. Basically I expected more bubbles and some sweetness.
Foodster
I was a staunch supporter of Mythos in their early days, and a regular at the one in Atholl Square, but over time the staff seemed to have lost their enthusiasm and it became just another restaurant. When I saw a new one at Mall of Africa, I had to give them a try though.

The ambiance is typically Mythos with its strongly Greek white and bright colours - pleasant especially in a new and clean restaurant. The hummus and pita starter was excellent, especially with piping hot pitas, and I can certainly recommend it. My Garida (prawn) Linguine was reasonable, but slightly over salted and it is quite a small meal, so not for the really hungry. The Astakomakaronada that my wife enjoyed on the other hand, must be the best value for money lobster dish available in Jhb at R295. The tomato-based dish is probably not for everybody, but we enjoy it and this particular one was well prepared, and it is enough food.

Complaints? First and foremost I think as a new restaurant you should probably buy a new dishwasher, not go for a used one, so your new patrons can enjoy eating with clean cutlery. The state of my fork was inexplicable. Secondly, it's not unreasonable to ask to move if the people at the table next to you are going out of their way to be noisy, going so far as to loudly play videos on their phones and having speaker phone conversations - I am there to enjoy a good conversation with good company after all. The attitude of your waitress in this regard was highly unappreciated.

As this is my first review I thought I would choose a resturant I fell inlove with. There is no better way to eat than to have a little bit of everything. My absolute favorite was the Papoutsakia, just delicious. And the service was great. Will definitely be back.
Megz Mackintosh
My favourite Mythos outlet! Was lovely sitting outside in the sun & really loved how the interior was decorated. The Pitas were fresh and delicious, however they were a bit cold. Will be back.

We popped in for a quick lunch. They were packed downstairs but had plenty of open tables on the first floor. Our waiter took a while to arrive and take our drinks order, and then the food took a while too (folks who were seated after us, ate, paid and left before our food arrived). Anyway, the ambience was nice, the food was good and the subsequent service was ok, so it was a fair experience overall.

I am loving the decor of this new branch in the Mall of Africa. So fresh and clean and totally reminds me of Europe. Best part....the tables are not on top of each other, you actually have room to eat without hearing your neighbours conversations! The food was very tasty too. Amazing flavours! My bf had the most delicious chicken breasts (Kota mythos). Grilled chicken smothered in a creamy mushroom, olive and feta sauce. Mmmmmm. I had the calamari which was also delicious. I look forward to many visits in the future.

Out next around the world food tour stop was at Mythos - as Greek as Greek can be! Their ambiance and decor is on par. I like the fact that the menu had the original Greek names inside making it a good learning experience for a Greek novice like myself. The Lamb Kleftiko was a winner- the lamb falls of the bone yummy!!

I am a fan of greek cuisine, however this branch failed me. It all went bad from the time I got there. Me and my old men Dr Angus Hay got there and had to wait for a while before 2 tables that had no people on them got cleared. After the one table was made available, our waitress did not bother to wipe the table as it had dirty marks from the previous people who were eating there. We ordered chicken livers as a starter and I was disappointed. They seemed a bit dry and mine were slightly burnt. We only got our cutlery after the food was already on the table, on both occasions, for the starter and the main. I was left stranded trying to cut through lamb chops with a butter knife. The service was a bit shaky to say the least. I will forgive that they just opened but it was not a good first impression at all. However I will give them a second go in the coming month.

Always a great place to enjoy nice Greek food. The decor arranged in The Mall of Africa is a nice new fresher look of earthy contemporary styling which makes for a pleasant ambience.
Normally go for the meze which is always great. Ordered the chicken yiro pita this time which never fails for consistency at any branch. Nice quick lunch for great tasting Greek food at relatively good prices.

In true Mythos style - this outlet does not disappoint. Friendly and attentive waiters are a delight. Food is fresh and delicious - #KevFabFood can highly recommend the vegetarian platter. If you are a lover of Greek food, this Mythos outlet will delight and satisfy your senses.
