Review Salsa Mexican Restaurant & Tequilaria Midrand - Midrand

Kelvin Morgan
What an awesome restaurant, Mexican cuisine, at its best. Excellent customer service and the best Nachos in town. Highly recommend for Mexican food.
SignsofLifeSA
Really good Mexican food. Have had some of the best Mexican food in the southwest US. This ranks right up there. Would have given five stars, but we are not fans of alcohol. Too many deaths and destroyed families because of that drug. But the food is really good.

Awesome supper tonight Ribs were falling off the bone! Cocktails were on point. Tacos and burritos had perfect seasoning. Evans... our waiter was top class and extremely attentive. Didn't have to wait long for drinks or food. Will definitely be back.
Nerina Naik
Absolutely loved my veg enchiladas and cocktail… great place for a family meal with a wide variety of veg options (and if you don’t like what’s on menus, I appreciate that the waiter accommodated my special requests). Delicious!

Went there on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch. Quirky decor and exceptional service. Food did not disappoint.

Ordered Salsa from Mr. Delivery in the week, was an epic fail. Contacted the store and spoke to the manager Chetty. He handled my complaint with such charisma and ease. He's an absolute gem of a person, incredibly friendly and so professional. The food that was replaced was delicious, fresh and flavourful. Thank you Chetty and Salsa.

Consistently one of the best restaurants in the area. Free tequilas come around every so often, a wide variety of Mexican drinks, food, a build-your-own-meal option and really well themed. A must-visit and one of my favourite Mexican restaurants.
Nikki Moutsatsos
What a find! Would highly recommend for an authentic Mexican experience. The restaurant is colorful, beautiful and eccentric. Unique Mexican decor. Awesome selection of cocktails, tequila and Mexican beer. A really cool bar area. I would highly recommend their pulled pork nachos...yummy. Great idea for a fun night out...draught fridays, quiz night and happy hour Mondays to Thursday. Love love love it!
Wesleigh Arjunan
A fantastic Mexican experience... You can find lots of favorites like Nachos, Tacos, burritos and many other Mexican favorite dishes. Another great reason to go here is the wide variety of craft Tequila. The different flavors are a nice change and is also supported by a wide range of cocktails. A definite must try and would highly recommend as this is my 3rd visit here.

Overall, it was a good experience, the tequila is amazing and tasty, which is a bit dangerous 🤣 the food was really good as well. The waiters are just a bit slow to take orders.
Keshav Maharaj
Great food, good service and the menu option was great. A must try is the Tequila as well as the various types of margaritas as well as the Tequila Beer, all tasty. Music was good as well.

Visited this evening, Salsa has such an amazing vibe, the most delicious food and 5 star service, our waiter Victor was super attentive to our needs, funny and definitely added to the great evening. We will definitely be back!
Ronel Fraser
We were there for a joint birthday party. You guys were SO busy, but the service was excellent. The food arrived in a short amount of time, the drinks were brought quickly too! The food was DELICIOUS! The staff were friendly, waiters were efficient, manager was cool. All round great experience. We will definitely be back!
Stacey Joy Marais
After being sorely disappointed by the lack of service at Roxannne's we moved our birthday celebrations to Salsa. They welcomed us immediately (a table of 9 on a very busy night), and gave us the best service, food and drinks! Absolutely fantastic!! Thank you!

Supper was at Salsa at Midrand, absolutely amazing Mexican food.

On their drinks menu was the “reaper” and needed to sign a disclaimer to drink that 😄 I saw it and had to give it a go! Not for the faint hearted! I personally enjoyed it because I love anything spicy but if you’re not one for heat then don’t try this!
I got my glass of water ready just Incase 😆

Anyway to eat I had the chimichanga which was really good.

The staff were amazing too and super friendly!
Heidi Mitchell
Haven't been for a while but so glad we took the drive out . Food as always exceptional. Portions more than generous compared to many other salsa outlets. Chef Frans went out of his way to make us beetroot fries which have sadly been taken off the menu. So impressed!
Devan
Hair in food, quite dissatisfied with the burrito.
Cooks should wear hair nets. Good service and food but please be hygienic. It's a burrito takeaway so had to throw it away

It was a great experience at Salsa Mexican Restaurant in Kyalami Corner. Live entertainment, dancing for both young and not so young. Food made to personalized order. The normal Salsa standards were met. Ambience and Vibe great. Food amazing. Decor colourful and vibrant

My experience here was terrible and they weren't even busy! The waiter that met me at the entrance never introduced himself. He gave my sister and I our menus and left our table unattended for over 20 minutes. Until another waiter came to our table to ask if we had been served. The burrito I ordered was under seasoned and the protein (hake) was over cooked and dry. The margarita I ordered tasted like a virgin cocktails and was overly sweet...I couldn't even finish it. Our waitor only checked up on us when we were ready to settle the bill and leave! Only thing I enjoyed about the evening was the salsa dancing and fries. For a Mexican resturant Salsa Mexican Grill needs to do much better!

It was my first time trying out Mexican food and I absolutely loved it. I’m definitely going back. The hospitality was amazing and the food was mouth watering. It’s a great spot for friends or family. Definitely one of my favorite spots now.
Dominique
Happy staff, good food and great tequila! What’s not to love! Can’t go wrong with the nachos! Absolute favorite. Margarita jugs are a must.
Adele Du Toit
Huge store with ample outside seating. Good variety of Mexican dishes and drinks, especially tequila. Festive atmosphere, but lacks a little coziness and feels bit commercialized. Friendly service, had a lovely time
Kay
Service was one of the worst. Waiter lies about availability of vegetables, got the order wrong and when we requested for the meal to be returned, the waiter insisted that he will not do so. Management intervened too late and sent the waiter home . Our family outing was already ruined.
Sudhish Mohan
Did a farewell dinner here a few nights ago. The food and service were excellent. Really enjoyed our evening out. Thanks team at Salsa Kyalami.

Definitely a new favourite! We decided to give it a try and I must say it was worth every cent. The food and drinks were amazing, the berry nice and spice has to be my favourite cocktail by far but I am yet to try the rest. The staff are extremely friendly and the food portion sizes were massive but I am not complaining. Definitely worth a try if you like Mexican food.
Ursula Van Rooyen
Love this restaurant, happy vibe, food is very good, tasty and good portions. Nachos best in town. All there food is excellent, my family and myself have tried everything. Staff is great, friendly and efficient.
Nazmira Khan
Made me a Mexican food fan 😋, found out they do offer a half portion size of Nachos which isn't stipulated on the menu but if you ask they can arrange.
Jenevieve Fabre
Love the vibe. The staff are very friendly and the service is very good. The food is fresh and tasty and great value for money. We will most certainly be back again soon.

28/04/18

My family and I were at this Mexican grill , we were seeking a vibe as well as some tapas nothing heavy as we were just passing by for lunch.

Ambience:
It’s well themed, the vibe was youthful and very accommodative to families.

Drinks:
We ordered virgin cocktails, a mojito and two raspberry margaritas. I was not impressed with the fact that the waiter failed to ask whether we wanted our margaritas to be shaken or frozen, he assumed we wanted frozen but he quickly rectified the error without any issues.

Food:
We ordered two of the “platters for two” which had;
The salsa Mexican grill Original taco, Acapulco quesadillas, jalapeño poppers & Mexican meatballs, the portions were very generous.
The taco were average, quite bland and really Dense.
The Acapulco quesadillas were tasty they were not spicy but were flavorsome.
The popper I must say, should come with a WARNING sign, they are MUY CALIENTE ... as my mother was surprised with and extremely fiery jalapeño
The Mexican meatball were also very spice and should come with an option of tomato base or hot base.

Stopped at Salsa on Saturday for a quick facepaint and some drinks! (They missed me with the welcome shooter 😲). Had some real fun with the rest of the party bus gang! Keep up the good work!

I absolutely love salsa. The one in Pineslopes is my ultimate spot. We tried this branch for a night out on Valentines, the service was great, setting very pretty but the food was not up to scratch. The nachos were soggy and precooked. The rest of the meal was ok, but the nachos unfortunately set the scene for me.

I'll stick to Pineslopes.

I didn't even know that there was a Salsa Mexican Grill in Kyalami until we met some family for dinner there. When we arrived at the restaurant we were friendly greeted by all the staff at the entrance and shown to our table. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Our table was outside and when I went to the bathroom inside, I did find that the outside of the restaurant lacked a bit of ambience compared to the inside.

To drink, I ordered a smashed gin. The Whitley Neill Protea & Hibiscus gin and tonic sounded interesting so I decided to order that with a garnish of thyme and grapefruit. It was delicious! Then it was on to the food. My sister and I decided to share a meal so we ordered the jalapeño poppers and the Mamacita quesadilla, which we added chicken to. The poppers were spicy and delicious as usual! The quesadilla was packed full of flavour thanks to the jalapeño pesto and roasted chilli corn. The food was really good.

The service was good and our waiter was trying to keep up as it was a busy evening. The manager also came and checked up on us to make sure everything was alright. Overall, it was a pleasant evening with good food and service. Definitely a great place to try if you are in the Kyalami area!
Pash Nair
Popped in for a quick lunch and opted for the chicken enchiladas and quesadilla. Great service and wonderfully fresh food. The craft tequilas are always a winner!
Crissy Van Zyl
Massive Salsa fan here!

This Salsa is SUPER!! Their food is fresh, delicious and the restaurant has a great ambience! I haven't been here at night though - but I can definitely imagine this place getting nice and vibey! The center that it's situated in is also really lovely! It has a really relaxed atmosphere :)

Their Nachos = THE. BOMB. DOT. COM
Riona Arjoon
I love this place. The food is superb. I love the quesadilla, nachos, poppers, and cocktails. I have never been disappointed by anything I've tried. Portions are huge. Service has always been wonderful on every visit! We have been here at least once a week and don't intend on stopping.

Had a great meal at Salsa Kyalami today. Took the hubster for a birthday treat, since Mexican is one of his favourites. He ordered jalapeño poppers and pulled pork nachos; I had pulled pork tacos (Taco Tuesday!) and beetroot crisps; all washed down with virgin blood orange margarita.

To say the nachos were a revelation to the hubs, is an understatement. I’ve had their pulled pork before (yum!) and knew the food was good, but he was absolutely blown away. These were very different from his normal nachos (which are good, make no mistake). Pico de Gallo spread between the layers, guacamole that contained red onion (he normally hates raw onion, but found this a pleasant surprise), two kinds of cheese, and of course, that freaking delicious pulled pork (gotta get the recipe!). He'd started out not very happy because he spent the morning waiting for me as I stood in queues, but when those nachos had him raving as being the best surprise of his day. He was still talking about them six hours later!

The rest of the food was delicious and filling. Our waitress, Eve, was friendly, charming, and unobtrusive. Instead of that irritating habit waitstaff have of interrupting when one’s mouth is full, she used eye contact and gestures to determine our satisfaction - something I raised to the manager when we called her over to enthuse about the food and about Eve (found out that Eve is new and, well, she’s going to do well if she maintains the same level of quality service displayed).

4/5 stars (only because the blood orange juice slush was plain orange - still tasty, though) and a promise to drive out there again soon for more of the best nachos hubs has ever eaten.

This place lost its soul a long time ago. It used to be fun and the food used to be amazing. The quality of food has dropped yet the prices are the same as the other, better branches
Sizani Msiza
Great atmosphere.. Out in the open, breezy and a fantastic place for the summer. I found the quesadillas to be quite messy but tasty. Be sure to gobble it up fast as it does get soggy after quite some time.

Their cocktails are AH-MEEEEZING! Try out their Chilli, Pineapple and gin Mojito.. OMG!!!
Tirat Keshav
Great food; more so, great service. Having the manager come to the table and spend a few minutes talking to us shows that they care about their clients.
Jay_Quan143
The service was awesome. Food was great.👍.. Would go there again. Serves, by far the best nachos I've had. Had the raspberry mojito.. Awesome place to have a Christmas office party, vibes are cool and awesome..
Akash
The jalapeno poppers and nachos were so good, I forgot to take pics of them first! I loved the starters and I had very little space left for mains. I ordered the beef tacos and they were very good as well. Our waiter was fantastic and food was ready very quickly considering how busy it was on a Friday afternoon. This was not my first visit and it will not be the last.
Norberto Terclavers
Awesome friendly service.great music and vibe. Portions are generous and spicy.love it. The pulled pork nachos are to die for. Will be back soon

Had a really lovely meal here last night. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the items on the menu and answered all our questions regarding the food with a smile. We were four in our party and all of us ate a different meal and not one complaint! My complaint though is, I did not have space for the Churros! So I'll be back.
Heidi Bantam
I predict that this brand new spot is going to be pumping in summer. It's quite spacious with understated, typically 'Salsa' decor. Service was good. Our drinks weren't out of this world (virgin margaritas - my blood orange was too sour and the raspberry was too sweet, but we didn't complain). The ribs, corn and coleslaw were tasty, and my Acapulco quesadilla was just delicioso :-).
Devin Sage
My first time at Salsa Mexican Grill aside from stopping in at the one in Parkhurst for some Churros and what a great experience.
The service was superb, very friendly and consistent.
The food was absolutely delicious, I couldn't fault anything! The flavours were all there and the presentation was great. I had the El Pescado, the hake was perfect and the beer batter wasn't oily or heavy and had a good crunch. It was a nice fresh meal. The Churros were great and a nice sized portion.
Definitely can't wait to go back for El Pescado round two.
Katya M
The food was soooo delicious! This branch had a great vibe, good music, and a warm atmosphere with funky art. I really enjoyed sitting there, the service was great and the manager was very attentive and accomodating, finding us a place to sit even in a fully booked restaurant! He also noticed when our drinks were emptying and kept an eye on everything. I really enjoyed being in a restaurant where the food was delicious and we could sit and have an enjoyable evening with great surroundings (also such reasonable pricing makes it very attractive). Definitely going back for more!
Nixie
amazing vibe.. mojito jugs are the best food is amazing. Really great for dinner. A huge round of applause for the service wow fantastic. The portions are decent and you will go home stuffed!

Went for pre-dinner drinks , waiter had taken our drinks order did not bother to give us a menu . The manager walked past our table 4 times without checking if we were ok. Waited about 1 hour before someone brought us the menu by then we had no inclination to order snacks .Terrible service received and no apology from the manager .

It is an ok place to dine for Mexican food however not the best authentic Mexican food. The salsa was puréed which I don't understand why. Salad I ordered lacked seasoning. The quesadilla with pulled pork had a bone in it. The service however was good however not impressed with the Mexican food as it lacked authenticity. The shaken margarita however was amazing but my second one had weird black parts in it.

Went with a party of over 60 pax awesome service and the food was amazing and everyone got their food at the same time the owners were super guys who came and check on everyone the waiters did individual billing certainly will be back and can't wait till the open a branch in the natal area Tracey-Jane Mc Donald Lucien oh and just a side note the gins went down very well added bonus they do zapper that hey have not mentioned

We went with family! Kids very fussy and we were not sure if they would get something to eat! Both had the taco soft shells with chicken and toppings and they absolutely loved loved it! Hubby had the pulled pork on quesadillas! Very filling and he loved it! I had the taco soft shell with chicken and amazing! Service was excellent and the vibe was awesome! Would recommend to anyone

I was very impressed with Salsa...not only was the food good, but there was an awesome vibe. I had the beef strips with guacamole & cheese...luv'd the flavour and tenderness of the beef. Also tried the nachos, which was such a hit at my table, and the jalapeño poppers which were too hot for some, but I enjoyed it. Margaritas were a standard; tried the watermelon & jalapeño margarita which was so good. For dessert we had the churros, served with ice cream...the ice cream was some of the best I've tasted recently. Will definitely return soon👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

I have only good things to say about this branch of Salsa's. We sat near the kitchen so we could see exactly how the food was prepared. Freshly made and delicious. Portions are generous and the food is well presented. I've never been to Mexico but I feel like this would be very close. The tequila options are endless and the cocktail jugs are a must. Service was efficient and the managers are attentive and friendly. We even got free tequila shots. Will definitely be back for those Nachos. Didn't get a shot of the churros but they are a must try.
Megz Mackintosh
I had the Chilanga taco with a lettuce substitute bowl & it was delicious! Very fresh ingredients & I loved the guacamole on the top. It was a huge portion so great value for money. The service was very quick & our waiter was friendly. This outlet is different to the other outlet in Pineslopes as it's a bit bigger so less noisy. Still a great ambience & really liked the Mexican decor. Will be back for the nachos (when I'm feeling like a treat) as my friend said they were yummy.
Morgan
Delightful food, service and vibe. The managers are very hospitable. Even the chef is more than happy to explain dishes in detail at your table. Now that you don't see very often.
Stuninho
Had an enjoyable dinner here with a service provider. Wonderful array of starters and mains to choose from, opted to make my own burrito and it arrived quite quickly. Always enjoy some tipo Tinto and raspberry followed by churros. The staff were also accommodating for a colleague's birthday!
Roueshka
We did a week night dinner with friends and surprisingly the place was quite busy with people doing tequila shots on a 'school' night. The decor is typically Mexican but somehow gives the place a bit of a dated look and feel. Loved the sombreros that customers used for pics. The portion sizes were pretty large so if you are not too hungry I would recommend sharing. We had burritos and tacos. The churros were a hit! Loved the food here, would certainly go back!
Monochrome
Nachos are good. Restaurant set up inside is quite nice except- for the washrooms right next to the kitchen. Service very poor. Wouldn't return to this particular branch.
Katiel
Good Mexican food, fresh ingredients and fantastic cocktails. Great restaurants for large groups and families. The quesadilla is my favourite.
Shanil Haripersad
Gosh everything that was done right by Salsa Fourways was lost by Kylami. To start the young host with the blonde hair was absolutely rude by starting the can we have a table with a will you be out by 7.30. That just spoiled the evening but I convinced my wife that she's a kid...let's give it a chance. My Long Island was bitter. The service was not even close to fourways but when the waiter did pitch up she was rather pleasant. Food was good as usual but not the enormous nachos heap that I have been hearing about. Nachos could of done with a side of salsa and I don't know why you have to pay extra for sour cream. Don't think I'll be going back there again especially when there's other really good startups next to it.
Dhashni
Disappointing experience at Salsa Mexican Grill, Kyalami Corner. Cold food. More rice that chicken in the enchiladas. Don't try the fish tacos - bland and tasteless. The waiter tried his best. But the kitchen failed terribly. Won't be rushing back there anytime soon.
Jess Grobler
Definitely my favourite Salsa now. Anticipated teething problems as it's newly opened but everything was brilliant. Parkhurst branch can come and take lessons here 🌮🥙
Lynne Grubb
Fabulous atmosphere, not as noisy as pineslopes, food was delicious, and the drinks were amazing too. We'll priced . The staff are so friendly and helpful, they all seem like they love their jobs, huge smiles all around. Well done everybody, we will definitely go back .

I just love this new Kyalami offering by the Salsa group!! Cinco De Mayo will never be the same again, after celebrating this past weekend at Salsa Mexican Grill.. Salsa is not your traditional Mexican grill and has a more American influence to it.

Fresh, good quality, delicious ingredients -tick. This food did not disappoint!
Friendly, attentive service - tick.
Stunning, modern and tasteful interiors - tick.

This Kyalam offering has a much more relaxed, family atmosphere than its Pineslope's sister, but I quite like that about it and after a long week, we enjoyed being tucked away in a quiet corner for a quiet catch-up to enjoy our meal!

I hope that the photos will give you a taste of the festive and delicious experience that we had had here!

*Recommendation: For a festive night out with your amigos, this spot will not disappoint!

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

Amazing restaurant! Best Mexican food in town! And the craft tequila is unreal! Always a fun evening with good food!
Would recommend booking a table as can be quite busy.
Thobile Shongwe
Really great vibe at this Restuarant and very spacious. Had the chicken quesadilla and a side of sweet potato fries. Although I found the the fries a bit misleading as they really do look and taste like a packet of Woolies sweet potato crips. The watermelon and chili margarita is love at first site! Devine! This will be my staple drink at this establishment.
Lucianrajah
Fantastic service from beginning to end! I've had worse service from fine dining restaurants. The food has improved, catering for many different preferences. I'm happy to report that the burrito sizes have increased as well as kiddies meals added. Again, fantastic tasting food, good service from the waitrons as well as managers. Doesn't get a five-point rating because of the value; it's still slightly expensive for what it is.
Val
Had the pleasure of dining at the delightful sister to the main Salsa in Pineslopes at the new Kyalami Corner and wait for it.....its actually sooooo much better. The staff are friendly on top of their game, you feel 'special' The head chef Christiano took special care of our needs after we queried a dish and went out of his way to rectify it!!! Its rare to find restauranteers that actually care as much as these folks do!!! But enough about the staff and how awesome they are - the food and efficient service is top shelf. I was initially hesitant as the branch in Pineslopes is noisy and busy and just ok, but we were pleasantly surprised, the ambience was great and the lady that took our reservations was super friendly and accomodated us just half an hour before we pitched, she even called us by name before we introduced ourselves and we were a few minutes late! Impressive! As for the food, the platter for 2 was just great everything on it was yummy and had its own unique taste and flavour, my favourite was the chicken quesadilla, couldnt get enough! The chipotle ribs had just about the right amount of spice, had me licking my fingers.....how else do u eat spare ribs!!! The tacos were crispy and the portions were generously filled. To top it off the Strawberry dream dessert well was 'dreamy' totally yummy!!! The empty plate speaks for itself! How can I not mention the variety of tequila on offer - WOW! We had the pleasure of indulging not once, but twice on the gingerbread cinnamon tequila with the orange zest to add that citrusy bite afterward! We will definately be back! Luv the decor, totally contemporary and the upcycling of some of the pieces were simply - inspirational!!! Please do yourself a favour and visit them soon!!!! Salsa Kyalami Corner you guys rock!!!

Best morning tequilas of my life. Fantastic food and absolutely amazing service. I can highly recommend a visit at anytime of the day thank you guys

Visited this magnificent newly opened restaurant at Kyalami Corner and found it even better than the original! What a great atmosphere and colorful delight with those addictive Nachos and Quesidillas!! Loved the great service from Mary and as always the owners were present and attentive!!! See you again before the end of this week!!!

So happy to have this eatery down the road from home!

We were a table of four and had a jug of the sangria margarita, for food we tried the chicken bowls, and pulled pork quesadillas, these dishes were delicious and consistent with the food served at the Fourways branch. I feel it's important, when restaurants branch out, to maintain the consistency, which they have!

I don't find the restaurant as warm and welcoming as the one which we usually go to (Fourways), perhaps its the high ceilings, but it's nicely decorated nonetheless.

The service was super slow, it took ages to get our drinks and meals order, however once ordered we did not wait long. The waiters also never took away our plates when we were finished eating, and we stayed at the table for at least 20 minutes after finishing our meals.
Desiree Steadman
Nachos are massive, but a bit disappointed with the amount of mince that I got (which I did pay extra for) friendly staff, vibey and good looking restaurant!
Debs
Nachos always a massive hit. Vibey band tonight, face painting. Super cool atmosphere. Tried about 3 of the craft tequilas - litchi my favorite. Yum!
