Thank you for being one of the very (very) few places in the South serving sushi during lockdown. First time trying your sushi and we were very impressed. Big portions, fresh and divine.
The salmon sushi burger is the most amazing dish! It is our favourite favourite. The textures and flavours balance beautifully. Please always keep serving this one?
Best seafood I’ve had in a LONG time. The prawns were a bit salty but not unpalatable, my calamari was grilled to perfection and the side salad was the best salad I’ve ever had in a restaurant. It wasn’t just full of lettuce, it was fresh with a significant portion of feta. I finished it before I indulged into my prawn and calamari combo. Our waiter was a bit arrogant, brought us non-alcoholic champagne and when we told him he was pretty sassy and had a bit of an attitude but later apologized when he returned and realized his mistake, the manager apologized as well. I’m definitely going back, if not for anything then definitely for the salad

Ordered the sushi burger, prawn tempura and the prawn and hake combo. Meal took a while to come...sushi bay was quite busy however, the manager and waiters kept us updated and always very apologetic. One can still see the resemblance of Ocean Basket(OB) on their servings and sauces. If you enjoy OB, you will enjoy R&S. Certainly value for money. One can pay using Zapper a facility which I enjoy.
This place is my absolute fave!! My number one go to spot for my weekly seafood fix. I've been a regular customer for the last 5 years. The food is really amazing, I always order a platter for one with hake, prawns, calamari, squid heads, mussels and salad. The food is always fresh and tasty and portions are big, I can never finish in one sitting. Service is top notch, the staff are always so helpful and really go out of their way to cater to you. The owners are also really friendly and always visible. This place is truly a little gem of the South. Love it!
Rock 'n Sole is the best place to get seafood thats not close to the sea. But they have amazing steaks too. I dont eat seafood anywhere else in Jozi
We order take-aways on a regular basis. Good service with friendly staff. And good food and value for money. Management always present and checking. A well run restaurant. Keep up the great work guys. Less than R60 for fish and chips - large portion 😊
This one is definitely worth a try, the service is friendly and fast. Everything we ordered was great, tender and tasty... probably some of the best seafood we have had in a while
Such a good expierenc and pleasure to have a Sundag lunch with family here. Reasonably price. Good quality and fresh food.... even the steak is amazing as my husband loves his meat. My daughter litteraly wanted to lick the pan of the saucy garlic roll. Very good service and the Manager is so humble and caring. Well done! Very impressed. Keep it up. We will definitely return soon.
My daughter has been raving about Rock and sole for a wile now so we decided to try them and see for ourselves. When we arrived we received a very friendly greeting by the staff and were shown to a table, the waitress was very friendly and service was prompt. Our starters were divine especially the cream cheese prawns. My wife ordered a sirloin steak and my daughter a platter for one both were very happy with their food, I ordered the prawn fiesta and this to was divine. all in all it was great, My daughter was right this place is great , will definitely be back. BIG thumbs up.
Well done Rock n Sole Meyersdal. Good menu which was value for money. Enjoyed the venue. I felt safe and secure. It was not far to travel. Good service provided with very fresh meal.
First time we went there the food wasn't great at all, chips were undercooked and the fish over cooked, prawns were mushy. Anyways we decided to give it another try and boy am I glad we did. Prawns were amazing, had vegetables rather this time and was so yummy! Had a steak and it melted in my mouth and was so juicy! Our waiter was awesome and super friendly, always smiling and trying to help. Everything I ate and drank was just superb! I guess we all have our bad days. Will definitely be a returning customer!
Great seafood restaurant. Have been here on various occasions and the food is always fresh. Lovely place to take family or friends. Staff friendly and a good vibe. Definitely value for money with good portions
The food here is always great. Really fresh no matter what you have. The portions are as friendly as the staff here. Really great place to eat. The only thing I found was the service was a bit slow. But overall a really great place to eat fish

Great upgrade from the previously ocean basket. Decor is crisp and welcoming. Similar portion sizes to ocean basket, but different menu. The change is a breath of fresh air. Prices are average to higher that ocean basket, but can be expected. The kingklip is a must as well as the calamari. Wine list has all the classics with decent prices. Will visit again soon.
Upon an evening of no electricity, we decided to try Rock 'n Sole.
The service was awesome! I didn't expect much from Rock 'n Sole but I was pleasantly surprised! We were warmly greeted by all staff and shown to a table where our drink orders were taken. Great wine prices I must add!
I had oysters for starters and my mister had sushi. On a Monday the sushi is 25% less.
The oysters were too good! Creamy and tasty! And the sushi was also fresh and yum!!
We ordered the platter for 2 for our main, which was really really good! A good amount of food for the price. I must just mention, the sauce flavours could have been a bit more delicate for the soft seafood flavours. I think some of the flavour was a bit lost.
I think all the food is really reasonably priced, and they also have a specials menu.
Great dinner out, we will definitely be back!
High quality hake fish and chips. Very fresh and flakey. I couldn't taste the peri peri flavour in mine but the quality of the fish made up for that.
Mediterranean sushi was also well made.

Good different! It's nice to find a new fish restaurant that's not part of the usual "chain of fish restaurants." The menu had a lot to choose from and leaned more towards Greek cuisine with regards to there traditional village salads #lovethem and the desserts. I tried the mussel & prawn combo and was not disappointed! This looked as good as it tasted🐟🐟🐟 My fiancé tried the hake and calamari and was licking the plate clean, well ... So to speak. The service is good. The restaurant has a rustic/Mediterranean vibe to it. It was a great place to take the whole family.
Best seafood place in the south of joburg if not the whole of joburg. It was packed but the service was amazing, I had avo and prawn for a starter and Basa with prawns and calamari for my main meal.. the best I ever had
This is by far the best ocean Basket myself and my family have had meals at. Awesome food, friendly staff and great management. It feels like home. The food is always fresh and their food is always made to perfection. They consistently good with their service and the food always tastes fresh and to the best standard. I can see myself ever eating at any other Ocean Basket other then MeyersdalNancy & Marco

Ordered the platter for one, absolutely delicious, the muscle and prawns were full of flavour and the calamari was not tough at all and well spiced. The service was top notch and the waiters are very friendly.
Their food is tasty and affordable. I love the vibe but sometimes it's quite busy and you need to book. I am a big fan of Ocean Basket but their spinach is very sweet which I don't like.

Sushi took some time however it was fantastic. We also had some calamari, prawns, mussels and fish. All was fresh and tender. Other branches does not compare to Meyersdal's quality and freshness standards.
I really feel at home going to this particular outlet! Their food is always fresh and tasty. Their staff greet us like we are family and have taken the time to memorize what I like to eat and drink.
This not only creates a homely vibe but shows how much they really care.

I haven't eaten there at the restaurant and have ordered take away sushi only. Their sushi is fresh and pretty standard. They have accommodated some of the changes I requested which is ok. They have delivered to my workplace a few times and didn't take time at all. So yes, I would recommend it.
This is by far my favourite Ocean Basket that I have been to. They are consistently good with their service and the food always tastes fresh and delicious... I have found that the different franchises aren't always consistent and their food can be a real disaster.
They are always busy - because they are that good - don't be alarmed if you have to put your name on a waiting list, because their service is fast you don't have to wait you long.
Love the fact the we can watch our kids at all times. Play area has 1 entrance and a camera. There are tv's all over the restaurant so you can watch the kids without getting up every 5mins.

the portions are large and well prepared, cooks to perfection, service wes great and kids area was "away" from dinning hall, so that works great for noisy kids! I was more that happy with everything we received and the overall feeling was Great! I really did have a good time!

Your Christmas dinner was fantastic. Value for the money paid for delicious food. Was a three course meal for under R150.00 per person. Impossible to match on Chrismasday in the food industry.

Did not enjoy our last meal. Steak was full of sinew, side plates were not cleaned properly. Always enjoyed every visit always had the best service and best quality food. Get back on track guys.
Best seafood platter that I had in a very long time. It’s worth the drive from anywhere in the Vaal. Friendly professional service with nice craft beer on the menu. Well done.
