This place is really awesome. Cool stuff and really dope music and not expensive at all hey. Still yet to try their cocktails they look really nice 👌👌👌
I went to Ratz on Friday night with friends. I really enjoyed myself. I loved that on Friday’s they play throw back music. This bar has a really homey feel to it, I think it’s the couches. I was a little hungry when I arrived so I ordered a boerewors roll. I was expecting the the worse, but it was pretty decent, filling and affordable. The owner was very kind and kept checking on all the customers. He even gave us free shots which was very sweet of him. Our waiter was also very nice, alert and present without smothering us. This bar has an amazing atmosphere that is also very welcoming. They also have great drink specials! I’ve been here before on a Wednesday night for karaoke night. There is a long list of songs to choose from so everyone will find at least one song the like. It’s a really great experience and I recommend it to anyone wanting something different. It’s pretty dark inside so the photos I took aren’t the best. I didn’t want to risk looking like a weirdo by taking a picture of my boerie roll with the flash on.
This is a good place to have pre-drinks before some serious clubbing . The cocktail special is great and gets you in a buzz at a low price.
The crowd is vey much older,laid back not really a dancing place. Was also a bit annoyed because their wifi wasn't working .I ordered the Ratz Poison and Long Island cocktails both were delicious and strong. I was at hungry at some point and ordered cocktail sausages. They tasted so weird and the meat felt like it wasn't fresh.
I'd love to come back for Karaoke night. But an okay place overall.
Great night out. We only went there for drinks. Would love to back and try the food. Service was great, very friendly staff!!! Delicious cocktails. They have their margarita making down to a fine art. Yum Yum.
Oh wow thin based pizza is amazing, definitely something to return for. Very casual vibe and not the most romantic or beautiful setting. Great for hanging out with friends
Have always loved hanging out at this intimate and somewhat eccentric venue in Melville. They are full almost every night of the week and the service by our waiter, Sketch, and the barman, Philip, was absolutely brilliant. We ordered a chicken nachos and basket of chips with our drinks and the food came out really promptly. The portions were huge and the food was really tasty. They run a number of drinks specials catering to all tastes, although my cocktails were not mind blowing, but the service made up for it twice over. Around 10pm the venue turns in to a nightclub vibe with great music and dancing. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
I just love the vibe in this bar. The drinks are amazing and the specials are really great too. But I mostly go there because the music is enjoyable. They really love to bring out the 90s hits.
GO ON A WEDNESDAY!! what a fun vibe.. Karaoke, R35 cocktails before 7pm and great service! I would go back every Wednesday if I could 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
There's only one place for Nachos in Joburg and Ratz is it. Ratz is one of those bars I simply cannot get sick of. I have been coming here for years and I have the same thing everytime - NACHOS. Their nachos are super cheesy and they are very generous when it comes to their toppings. I love the vibe in this place. The waiters welcome you with high 5's and are genuinely happy to see you walk in. The music is great... The décor is so quirky. It's really the kind of place you want to hang out in. Their only downfall - is their slow service. I was the only customer in the bar today but my food took 25 minutes to be ready. And although you get great value for your buck with your meals, the drinks are kinda steep. And be sure to ask for the wifi password - It's so odd and bound to make you chuckle just a little.

Ummmm, not sure how to rate this place. Don't come here if you're looking for exquisite meals. It's a bar and it has bar food. The nachos are AMAZING!!! Try them out. The crowd is a bit weird but fun nonetheless.
The natchos, that amercan disappointment, are rehabilitated here. I never thought I would say this, but go to Ratz and try their natchos. Also, their cocktails are far better than any of the other overated dives on the strip
A great place for great drinks and yummy nachos, especially the chicken nachos! I highly recommend the blue rat cocktail and the signature shot, the peppermint crisp shooter! ♡
I love this place for drinks after work. Nothing fancy but a great place to sit and watch the world go by. Great service, pleasant surroundings, and Bacardi in the bar. What more do you need!!
It was a cool experience. The culture is what caught me. The service is excellent. The food is typical bar food what more do you expect, but even in that it's done in excellence.
Most Definitely one of the signature places, (if not THE) that has kept the original vibe of Melville alive during good and bad times. I was pleasantly surprised when i went back to Melville for the first time in a while only to see my favourite bar Still open and even better than before!
The Staff are friendly and definitely add to the vibe. Their killer cocktail special is still running, (THE BEST STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI IN TOWN) and their new snack baskets are awesome! I have subsequently made it my new Friday hang out! Welcome back Melville!
Ah Ratz. I've had many a good night here. Ratz is not a place for a sit down dinner, it's a bar with some finger food to nibble on between delicious cocktails.
Like many other Melville establishments - there's an ebb and flow of which venue is the current "in" thing - some nights ratz will be empty and other nights it's pumping and there's no room inside so you can order a drink and loiter outside.
Bar staff and clientele are super friendly, music on most nights is loud - ranging from 80s classics, some duff duff club stuff, and other times some old reggae tunes - I think it depends one who's behind the bar and what he fancies.
Drinks aren't too pricey and they make a mean liquid cocaine (shooter) - try it :-)
