Review Piza E Vino - Melville

Yuriy Fargudin
I can not find words for describing my experience. It was incredible and scrumptious. My eyes were closed due big pleasure all lunch. Risotto AI Funghi and garlic & cheese bread are amazing! I applause by stand!

Amazing! Go on Thursday between 4 and 6pm... pizza specials, drink specials, just great! The grande Pizzas (half and half is my best) are banging!! And a good price for the size!

This place has a relaxed atmosphere. It's tucked away in Melville. The food was good. We recommend the "Porky the Pig" pizza in particular. We spent about R600 and were full well into the following day. I would definitely recommend this spot

Piza e Vino is a fantastic spot with a great atmosphere and fantastic staff. The pizza is undoubtedly delicious, although not quite the best I've ever had, it's still worth every penny! It's an ideal spot for all kinds of groups - solo diners, friends, or families. However, during the day, the noise from the adjacent highway and street road can be a bit much. I recommend visiting in the evening for a better experience. Unfortunately, the outside seating areas don't have charging ports, which can be inconvenient for those needing to power up their devices. As for the WiFi, I didn't get a chance to check whether it's available or free. Overall, Piza e Vino is a great spot for delicious pizza and a fun atmosphere, with friendly staff to make your experience even better.

Excellent pizza and focaccia bread, available with lots of filling options. There is a great garden section to sit in as well as an indoor section.

Loved the food, the service was good. The waiter was super friendly and made some good suggestions for food and drinks. We were there in a Tuesday evening, so the vibe wasn't great but it looks like a great place to get together with friends and have a good time.

My favourite things about Piza e Vino are: 1. The extensive vegetarian options they have an 2. The option for half and half pizza either for those that are sharing or for those of us who are indecisive! The pizza bases are the perfect thickness and their pizza flavours are great!

Fantastic pizza - lovely atmosphere and great waiters. They have a quiet private dining area which you can book out for any special functions. Lovely outside area and great wine and dessert selections.

Great night out with yummy pizzas and good service. Also good to see how restaurants take comments to heart and act upon them. The few shortcomings that we mentioned by other patrons have all been addressed- well done!!

I love this place, I love the atmosphere, the service and if course the food! It's rated 4 stars because they could be more generous, we ordered Beef Boy large pizza, the most amazing thing I've had I forever but we had to negotiate the meat strips. Otherwise, the best pizza in joburg(well top 3!) highly recommended.

Lovely vibe for a Sunday afternoon with friends or family! The set up is really artsy and cozy! The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is great!

Came here for a romantic evening with my boyfriend, I heard about this restaurant through google and it looked very intriguing. Although facing a busy road, this restaurant is tucked away and is actually very intimate, beautiful setting inside with the dimly lit lighting, the fairy lighting outside adds a very festive ambience to the place. I have to say the service was amazing! Waiter was very attentive, didn’t leave us or have us have to call him (much like the downfall in Melrose arch), manager also was extremely friendly and came to us as soon as we sat down. Piza e vino does make the most delicious sangria and this was definitely not a let down! Melrose arch pizza is also amazing. Definitely recommend for a date night, just maybe not facing the busy road in by the smoking section, still amazing there though.

Food and service was really great but there were some really dodgy guys loitering outside. Was sitting in the outside area and some guy asked for money through the fence, after I said I didn’t have any on me he left and came back with some other dude and walked in the direction of the entrance while looking into the restaurant as if to check if they could rob people or something. there was something about them that was just off man - even the waiter looked worried.

I suggest that the outside area with the fencing (where we can see into traffic) gets covered with something (that can be easily removed and attached) for privacy and possibly get a security guard on standby.

Other than that, it was really nice; both the food and the service

The service is always good, friendly and welcoming and the food is good too. I have never had a bad experience at Pizza E Vino and I love their lower calorie pizza options.

Easily one of my best experiences at a restaurant. The manager was absolutely amazing. Food was great. I have nothing but positive things to say. Just a great experience.

To start, I think Piza E Vino is immensely overpriced.

The vibe was really nice, as the restaurant was nicely heated from the cold JHB.

But just a glass (not even full) of sangria was R56... at some restaurants you pay R50 for a jug.

The pizza I ordered was kinda average, what you order is kinda what you are gonna get, nothing special.

And then when it came to the service, I was really disappointed... it was like the waitress was constantly confused and lost.

Don’t think I’ll visit this restaurant again.
No Time To Waste
Ordered 5 pizzas for pick up. We were pleasantly surprised to find a whimsical sit down location away from the busy streets.

The pizza arrived and we tasted them at home. The crusts were yummy but the taste was lacking a bit of flavor unfortunately. It was the closest pizza place near our friend's house and so off we went.
Basetsana Mabelane
Amazing place with great service. I like how each and every one of their meals comes fresh.
I’d like to see more juices on their drinks menu though.
GoGo Meamito
Ordered a pizza and paid the bit extra to be delivered with the hour, it didn’t. Tried to get through, sent mails no answer. Pizza arrived totally cold and very miserable with no sides. Unlike my previous good experiences with Pizza E Vino, Melville. Slipping standards it seems.
Springbk
Very poor service I cannot believe how long it takes to make a pizza. Not sure how they could take so long to make simple ease to cook food. Pizza only takes about 2 minutes to cook and about five to prep not sure it takes 1 hour.

Amazing service. Love the scenery. The food is great ! I love the pizza. The waiter served us well and he was friendly. Food arrived quickly. The ambience is lovely. Enjoyed the music

‪Awesome after @pizaevino! Great time with friends, attentive service, yummy food and a selection of gluten free and paleo options. Also great Vegan options, just an awesome afternoon.Totally recommend this place. Will be back!
A friend of mine and I ate here on Thursday afternoon. The food was great and the service was great. But I loved the restaurant's setting! It's like they've converted a house into this lovely little restaurant. It was really gorgeous! It would be really cosy for a first date

I've downloaded this app just so that I could write this review. Was at this place last week Saturday. Boy was I impressed. Great service, and unbeleavably delicious pizza. This spot might just be the most romantic place for an evening dinner date in johannesburg. I cannot wait for my next visit.

This is my favourite place for a simple dress up dinner. Had a friend's 21st dinner in the private room & the service & pizza were very amazing. I also went back there & had some pasta, my only complaint was that it was very oily & lacked flavour but overall this is a very cute spot with a great vibe.
Gerhardt
We have ordered from Piza e Vino numerous times invthe past and everytime it seems we are reminded why we should not... Lately, however their pizza recipes has changed for the worse! Their pizza is soooooo oily and the base is very doughy (this is still bareable), but the whole box is dripping with oil and you cannot even taste the pizza toppings due to excessive oil! Change your recipe #pizaevino

Pizza e vino is still my favorite place for pizza and some fine vino 🍷 this Melville branch is also my favorite as the staff is always so friendly and the food is always so consistently delicious 😋 I love me some Italian cuisine and this establishment always hits the spot😋

First time at Piza R Vino, it was a great experience.
Orders pizzas to share. A very comforting space to eat and quite romantic.
Would definitely go again

A group of friends and I were craving pasta and pizza so we visited Piza E Vino in Melville. We were lucky enough to get the private room. It was dim and doubled up as the wine storage room. I had a pizza, it was crispy and the flavones all worked together, making it a very pleasant meal. The wine selection was great. I can only think of two problems we encountered, one being a friends pasta being made differently to the week before. It was bland and whole tomatoes were used in the pasta which is not usual. What's weird is that the week before didn't have whole tomatoes. This made me think that the restaurant has no consistency in their recipes. Our waiter was good until the place started filling up, we saw him less and less and found ourselves having to call for him. This is something I always experience when going out because I am a student and what not, but I thought with us being a table of 6 and all more attention would come our way. Besides those little issues, the place was amazing. The ambience was cozy and overall relaxed.

I enjoyed myself. The place is cozy. The service is as good as the Melrose Arch restaurant. The pizza was lovely as expected :) Would definately go back.

The nostalgia of pressed ceilings, creaky wooden floors, fireplaces & fairy lights completely wins my heart! And the fact that they have a sign at the door saying "I made my favourite thing for dinner - a reservation!" makes me feel like we are speaking the same language! Pizzas 🍕 were cheesy, crispy and complaint free and the vino perfect! My fussy veggie ways were well accommodated making this a place I can easily come back to.
Jacques Wentzel
Good quality pizza and really friendly owners. I usually go for their Mona Lisa and Maserati pizzas and I would recommend it. I don't have any compaints here and I've never waited more than 15 minutes for an order, so I consistently go back for more.
Thands
I love most of all the ambience of the place, cosy with great wine and the pastas are delicious. My favourite place to unwind after a long day.

I am SO disappointed at Piza e Vino this evening. We order from them at least twice a week for delivery and tonight it's been a nightmare dealing with them over the phone - lie after lie. "The driver is on his way" I was told OVER AN HOUR AGO. We live 8 blocks away!!! Your website is down at the moment be cause you are updating your menu, so we were forced to order over the phone - NEVER AGAIN. I don't understand the need of the person behind the phone to be dishonest, it just accentuates our frustration. APOLOGISE AND TELL THE TRUTH!!! I COULD'VE GONE TO COLLECT MY ORDER BY NOW IF YOU HAD BEEN HONEST. But no, I am now cancelling my order, this is absolutely ridiculous (and the guy has not phoned me back as he said he would for about 10 times now). Shocking service.

Very confused by the rating for this Piza E Vino- it is faultless! The decor is stunning, both inside and out. It makes for a great meeting spot for business or pleasure. The location is also very central. The service is next level, from both the waiter and manager. The food was absolutely delicious- we enjoyed starters and the risotto special. If you haven't been here yet, I suggest you place it at the top of your list.

Out late for an impromptu date night lead us to Piza eVino in Melville. First impressions are great as this cozy, vintage and well kept eatery is hidden by low walls and greenery. Special mention must be made of the great hot chocolate option and the the way the setting lends itself to a great winter dining option. Unfortunately this particular outlet doesn't draw the crowds I'm certain it once did. The vibe is off and that's a real shame. The service wasn't particularly noteworthy and even a little shoddy. The food was nothing to write home about and it saddens me to report back on a very mediocre at best dining experience. It's just missing *that thing*.

It was worth the wait, the food was spectacular. Especially the pizzas. Definitely a must try. The waiters / waitress' are very friendly and helpful.
Kudzai Maeresa
Its ok. Had the ox tail ragu with pasta. Its decent enough not to complain not great enough to wow. Service is also just ok. We had a big table and one waiter who was clearly struggling to get orders etc. Conclusion well just ok.

I have been to this restaurant a few times now and have enjoyed it a little more every single time. It looks ordinary from the outside and that's why it had taken me so long to dine here. It when I did decide to, my expectations were surpassed. The service was great, and the food even better. The ambiance is also fantastic- great place to have a date.
Stacey Norsworthy
Have had a couple of lunches here, Pizza is always good. For dessert I would recommend the Chocolate fondant-AMAZING every time. I really appreciate the cute decor of this branch-especially the in the bathrooms.
Poor Man's Caviar
Pizza spot close to home so popped in for a quick drink and a takeaway pizza.
My waiter was really on the ball and super helpful.
He saw I was struggling to choose as there are some great new pizza options and suggested the half n half, so you can try a combo, which I opted for.
The Porky the Pig and the Porkerino- so a pork fest but both very different with the extras.
The restaurant has great outside area with fairylights and will be awesome for a summer evening.
They give you the chilli and garlic with some Parmesan to take home which was a nice touch.
The pizza was decent and generous toppings but the base was a bit too charred for my liking, didn't detract too much from the overall taste but tasted a little bit burnt.
I would score it lower for the base but waiter was a gem, so we'll try it again to see if it improves.
Piza E Vino in Melville is a little hidden gem. Once you've found this space you'll be met by a great open environment with an amazing selection of drinks, pizzas and pastas. It's a nice place to getaway and meet a friend, have a drink and end of a long tiring week.
Francois Marais Van Zyl
Still pricey but what a nice cosy setting on a cold winter's afternoon in Jozi.
Warming fireplaces in every room to warm the winter blues.
Pizzas are great but locally produced craft beer is very pricey.
Nice and exciting variations for pizzas
Save up and visit this place for mouthwatering pizzas.
Must however improve on their Sangria recipe-too little red wine and too much sweet additives.
Amy Lara Baxter
Had such a lovely lunch at Piza E Vino!

The food was delicious, I ate a pizza. And the drinks lists suits any taste. The ambience is lovely! It's like a little " getaway " opposed to the normal shopping centre style. They also have a deck which is nice.

As I said, the pizza was delicious!

Deciding to have a late night (gluten free) pizza, I knew just place to go to. We got there pretty late, about 30mins before closing but the staff were happy to accommodate us. We were seated and provided with good friendly service for the rest of our evening.

Having eaten here a while ago, due to fluctuations in the quality of food, I wanted to have the paleo base pizza which I've previously had. The base this time round was not as tasty as previously used (coconut flour base), but the pizza topping was nonetheless tasty. I would prefer the coconut flour base to the current base used, purely from a taste and texture perspective.

The one thing that has remained constant and needs commending is the friendly service of staff and mangers, always friendly and helpful!

Being close to home, the Melville Piza e Vino is an easy stop.

The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. The location holds its own sort of charm. Having been a beautiful bookshop, they were able to preserve the major architectural aspects of the shop, while being able to pay homage to the original shop though small, well placed memorabilia.

The food is generally good quality and full of flavour. This does sometimes change depending on how busy or quiet they are but on average, I have been incredibly happy with what I've ordered. They also have a great wine and craft been selection, and being able to order a carafe of wine doesn't hurt.

The one comment I need to make is regarding the menu. While I know the outlet may not have a direct say in menu development, they are unfortunately impacted by it. Piza e Vino always had a well balanced menu. They then changed it to something less desirable and kept it static for a while. Luckily recently we have seen regular(ish - for a franchise at least) updates to the menu, some better than others but each iteration has seen great improvement and some exciting new dishes to try.

Finally, the salads are surprisingly good!

It was great being back here after almost a years absence (of not actually eating here) The food was delicious, and fresh. Don't get why they no longer serve chorizo :-/ found it odd for a pizza/pasta joint. The service was a bit of a let down but the manager, Keenan did a decent job at being attentive to customers. Good value for money. And with the cold creeping in, the blankies come in handy!

I generally order take aways and the food is always good, so we decided to come check it out...its a bit of a tucked away hidden gem in Melville. I had the seafood pasta (as always) which was delicious (as always) and well priced and I had the creme brulee - Amaze balls!
Janet
Loved the New Menu surprise. Tasty Schwarma Pizzzaaa. Recieved warm welcome from staff, cosy and great atmosphere inside the Restaurant - Fire and Lights... Loving chatting to the Manager, his such a sweet heart. We'll be back soon. Maybe for your Van Loveren evening. Thanks

Not being the biggest pizza/pasta eater, I always enjoy going to Piza E Vino in Melville, placed in the old Boekehuis bookshop. The setting is the definition of pleasant, the pizza (I've never ordered anything else there) is always tasty, the drink selection is nice and the service attentive. A nice place to have in my back pocket when looking for a relaxed meal in a nice setting.
Kananelo Sebati
The pizza is always great and the garden is an excellent place to relax. The waitrons were welcoming and the service was good. Enjoyed a new pizza on the menu with asparagus and fried capers. Overall a great experience.

Piza e vino always makes good pizza. I like the base, as well the flavours they use. Nomnomnom. Tried out their sesame Street salad. It was a grilled chicken breast tossed in sesame seeds. This was on a bed of baby spinach and some seeds, with feta in peppadew. Sounds delicious, right? It would be, had the chicken not been so dry and unseasoned. Very grateful for all the condiments at that time! I'll probably just stick to pizza in future.
They only have three virgin cocktails available, not sure if it's the case with all the franchises now but I remember being able to have quite some choice last year in Rosebank?
I had the virgin mojito, and it was really refreshing! 🙌
Waiter was on point, friendly and attentive. Nice place.

We used to love everything at Piza e Vino, but in the last year or so we have noticed the quality of food going downhill. Ordering the same thing we have ordered for years now has no taste and was just an absolute let down. Service as always excellent. I really hope you step up your game soon otherwise you will be loosing very frequent customers.

Love the setting of this Piza e Vino, it's almost hidden away from the always busy Melvile area. Pizzas are good, and their cocktails. The service at this branch is also really good. Would definitely recommend it.

The heat had us on lockdown. Ordered in a pizza from Piza E Vino, it was my first time trying out something from here. The pizza was delicious & fresh 🍕and it came so quickly. They even bring you some cheese, garlic and chilies to throw onto your pizza. Perfect choice!! Porky the pig for the win.

I visited this branch for the first time the other night. It was raining and the place is a cosy, comfortable spot to dine during a Joburg thunderstorm. Our waitress was not very attentive and we were always looking for her but she was friendly. I enjoyed the hot chocolate.

They've added a few new items on the menu which are worth a look. I had the Krazy Nut and something about it wasn't quite the same as at the other branches. My mother had a Roucala and asked for extra avo, which they were very generous with. My dad tried the new chicken dish on the menu and asked for it spicy - he found that it was not spicy enough and there very little meat on that piece of chicken. The chips were also undercooked despite looking brown on the outside.

So the place is really great but the food and service definitely need some attention. There is some great outside seating which would be lovely on a warm evening.

First time at piza e Vino. Fantastic food friendly staff. Only down point was the messing of water on my Pizza by our waitress, But it happens. I'll definitely go back.

Can't believe I didn't know about this Piza e Vino - such a nice spot. Similar to Full Stop Cafe set up but the food is muuuch better than Full Stop.

My cousin had organised a birthday dinner on the terrace - they let her bring a birthday cake and cupcakes with and their service was brilliant.

We had foccacias and salad to start - absolutely demolished the salad the dressing was divine and avo overflowing.

Ordered soooo much food it was almost embarrassing. Pork Ragu divine, mussels really good, their gluten-free pizza bases are great. We had so many different pizzas and all of them were great.

Will definitely go back - so lovely!
Kaleb.TheGent
1st time @ Piza e Vino and the experience was quite lovely.
Good food, friendly staff, very chilled atmosphere.
The menu could do with a few more additions though.
I would definitely recommend it and I would definitely go back.

Best pizzas in Joburg. The menu is so interesting I find it extremely hard to choose. I love the fact that I can do half half as this makes the job easier. The ingredients are always fresh and the flavour combinations are delicious. Don't go if you want a Hawaiian, they don't do anything normal.
Karen Du Toit
Love their pizzas, but also I have never been disappointed to order anything else! Great salads and risotto as well! Great cappuccino's as well!
Matt Benic
Absolutely amazing pasta and a great setting both inside and out. Service could have been a bit quicker but it's not something that would stop me from coming back. Highly recommended.

Conveniently located opposite Campus Sqaure, so it was a perfect choice for a work dinner.. Service was average & the wait for the food was longer than expected, considering that it was not a busy evening.. Also my food arrived & it was luke warm- i opted for the vegetarian pasta option- Malfotti, i was impressed with the serving size as i usually find that pasta servings are quite large. The Malfotti has a tomato base with a spinach dumpling which added a creamy flavour to the pasta. I was happy with my choice of main however i think it would have been much tastier had it been served piping hot! For drinks i had the strawberry ice tea, served with mint - perfect to cool down after a long, intense & hot work day.
Thozi Sejanamane
Great outdoor atmosphere which feels like a little forest in a corner of a busy city. The service was great and we were met at the gate by a waiter who always checked that we were good. We in no way could fault the Parma Verace and Brie pizzas we had and R300 for two was definitely worth the value we received.
Molecules And Macaroons
Not your traditional pizzeria! What I love about this place is the innovative menu which boasts pizzas with unexpected but delicious topping combinations. Whilst I've never had a pizza here that I didn't enjoy, my favourites include the Krazy Nut, the Prawn Starlet and the Melrose Arch.

Piza E Vino is more than a one trick pony however and their pastas are also fantastic . My recommendation is the Malfatti with gnocchi. These rich and comforting dumplings are a great option for vegetarians.

The Melville location is, in my opinion, the best of the group. Although the setting is less contemporary than the mall based branches; the soft lighting, quirky decor and relaxed friendly service lift it above what you would expect from a chain restaurant.
I have visited this place several times with my girl. It has the same approach to Pizza as most italian pizzeria places. Their pizzas are have never dissappointed. But i do wish they could extend their beer catalogue. Until such time i will hold back on the 5.
Michael Bouffe
Great food, brilliant setting and awesome service. They also make a great Cappuccino. By far the best Piza e Vino I have been to. Way more relaxed vibe than the others.
Blasian Princess
Piza e vino is known for their great, authentic Italian pizza. This particular outlet was understaffed when I went there on a week night. The food took long to arrive but was worth the wait.

I've been here a couple of time . The vibe is chilled the food is great. love the pizza #JamesBrown . I can't wait to try the sea food pasta . I hear good things about it . till next time

Super, super adorable and super, super convenient. It's such a vibe, with white Christmas lights, vintage books, and unique pop art decorating the place. Both a complaint about and compliment to this Piza e Vino was the Calabrian Onion Soup, which everyone in our group always rushed to order, but only a few people usually received. Main-wise, a lot of the pizzas are really good, but my favorite was the Italian Burger, a super tender patty with a sweet chili sauce tucked into ciabatta. It was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had.

Best of all, they repeatedly put up with the drama of dealing with a group of loud Americans.

It's hard being objective about a restaurant that replaced your favourite bookstore (I know it's been 5 years but I'm not over it); atmosphere is nice, pizzas range from okay to good, music is fine and wine is acceptable. Service is good and as far as franchise restaurants go: it's good. Overall opinion: it's nice. Like a Honda Jazz. Nothing to get excited about but you'd prefer it over a BMW.
Julia Louise Domanski
The calzones here are the best in Johannesburg that I've had. Not just dough and cheese; lovely light dough, ample fillings and a perfect amount of cheese. Fantastic squid heads! And normal pizzas have lovely thin, crispy bases and tasty toppings; again not drowned in tasteless cheese. True Italian style.
The ambiance is wonderful and cozy in winter with a roaring fire and lovely outside area for summer.
Service was friendly and efficient and the Russian manager is delightful.
Lee Madeley
The great horror of Johannesburg is that the best book store we have ever had needed to close down because nobody reads. You can console yourself with sangria. It turns out that that stuff you had 20 years ago is not sangria. Rose water, cucumber, sorrow... Joy follows.
Tebogo Tlhabane
My husband n I's favorite spot. The chefs specials are a must try and every meal should end with their chocolate fondant its truly heaven in your mouth.

I have to say I love this branch - it is in the neighbourhood, it's hidden, cosy and absolutely lovely.

The food is great, great actually. The staff is amazing, helpful charming and on it.

I am just unimpressed by the management. I went there for dinner a month and a half ago and when I paid - my card wasn't processing so I ended up making another payment with my credit card and when I got home I got another message from the banking with my previous payment notification. Basically I paid twice - R250 x 2. I promptly called the restaurant and the manager took down my number and promised to call in the morning as he was cashing up - he never did. I called thereafter 4 times and I got no explanation or an apology. All they did was take my number down and promise to call.

I find this appalling. It's not even about the money, it's just plain courtesy. Disgusted.

The music was slightly louder and environment bit unwelcoming. Not the staff in particular but the get up. I ordered salad with rocket, mozarella, brinjal tomato and roasted red pepper. It had no particular sauce in it but was loaded with tingy balsamic that was strong to tongue at its borders. I had to order side bread which came as a rescue. The bread was awesome, loved it. The pizza with ham was good too.
Living in Greenside we’re fortunate enough to be sandwiched between two excellent trattorias, one in Parkview, the other in Emmarentia. I’m very wary of restaurant chains, with quality usually sacrificed on the altar of economics. So, when friends from London suggested this place, it was met with healthy scepticism. Now, you must understand, garlic is often the decider of what’s to come. Not for us that brown sludge that once was garlic. It’s either been chopped within the last fifteen minutes, served in a ramikin, or has been marinating in olive oil for only a few hours. So, listen up… Piza E Vino in Melville is THE REAL DEAL!! The food, the vibe, the warmth… everything! The warm Robiola salad was delicious, as was the Mamas salad. The Wild Mushroom risotto was amazing. My Frutti di Mare pizza was stupendous… the best ever, with succulent prawns and calamari, not those microscopic excuses for seafood. I can go on, but I think you get the message. This is the place for a great meal, in the company of great friends.

Bravo!

In the photo - from left to right - Sammy (Waiter), Godmass (Chef), Peter (Manager)

Love love love this restaurant, the ambiance is amazing, the food is beyond delicious and our waiter Sammy was friendly, funny and made us feel at home. I will definitely be coming here more often!!

If for lack of any other reason just go there for the dessert! Absolutely decadent. So decadent I ordered both the panna cotta and chocolate fondant within 20 minutes of each other. The malfatti pasta is an excellent vegetarian option especially with the gnocchi (even with being a meat lover) very tasty in deed. The service is the only down fall. Waiters lack enthusiasm.

One of the best hidden gems in Melville. Relaxed atmosphere with great service and food. Nice rustic indoor setting that's very welcoming and a cosy outdoor for those perfect evenings. Fits perfectly into the Melville scene.
Sisanda Maqubela
This branch I love because its hidden and cosy. Sitting under the trees sun raise piercing through, old house converted into this cute charm. Again another satisfying meal. I already know my favourite pizza's. But today we opted to select topping we never tried before. We were not disappointed at all. Keep up the good work guys.

Visited your Meville restaurant on 21 Dec 2014, very few
patrons, we were a table of 6. Will Pretorius was the MOD.

Beers served were warm. When questioned, Mr Pretorius stared
blankly at me until I suggested an ice bucket.

We placed our food order which included 2x Insalata
Calamari.

Food arrived & after a while one person noticed the
Insalata didn't have any aubergines, which the other person confirmed.

When questioned Mr Pretorius again stared blankly at us,
then HE confirmed that there were no aubergines, & left us. Some minutes
later he arrived with a bowl of aubergines and glibly placed them on our table.

Out of frustration that he hadn't apologised for the error I
approached Mr Pretorius inside
the restaurant, where there were no patrons & told him he had spoilt
our afternoon. He quickly retorted by stating he had brought us the aubergines.
I asked if he thought that was enough to rectify the situation.

He stated that it was a head office fault, in that the menu
presented to tables was different to the kitchen menu, the kitchen menu not
showing aubergines as part of the meal, (still no apology)

My blood levels rising, I requested an apology from him,
which he gave, without empathy,
then told me to “GET OUT” of his restaurant as I had berated him in front of
his staff!! Quite taken aback, I asked him to calm down & allow us to
finish our meal.

This isn't how a manager should react. What restaurants like Pizaevino fail to understand is that
people visit them to have an experience, which includes prompt, good service
and food, & a pleasant atmosphere for their patrons to enjoy. On all 3
accounts Pizaevino failed. I
know I won’t receive a reply, but hope that Mr Pretorius will get a good
talking to about his behaviour.

I shall not be returning to the restaurant

Hidden Gem!!! Amazing pizza, great friendly service. I always sit outside when I visit, I love feeling the breeze and hearing the birds while I enjoy lunch. The setting is comfortable and homey.

I'm yet to give their pastas a try, I'm still hooked on their pizza. Glad to have found this place!

This franchise is always a good vibe with a large selection of great wine and pizzas. At night it's really done up well with white Christmas lights laden all over the trees. Makes a nice atmosphere. However as far as pizza e Vinos go, this isn't the best one and is lacking compared to the original Melrose arch branch.

I love this place at night. All the string-lights are lit up around the trees, it's very lovely. The pizza and wine selection are wonderful. Would definitely recommend it for dinner on the weekends.

Good Pizza, Overpriced, and R44 for a Rock Shandy. Enjoy paying the price for a craft beer, for a couple drops of bitters and some lemonade. No thank you. Never again.

I ate at Piza E Vino again and ordered their Homemade Beef Meatballs which was delicious. The portion was perfect for me: not too much but enough to fill me up.

Great service once again, the waiters check on you often ( but not annoyingly so ) and so does the manager.

Always vibey, always good service, always good food.

There is something rather special about arriving at a restaurant on a chilly Winter's arvie with the car park full of market stalls and the tables and chairs all pulled out into the garden in the hope of grabbing some afternoon sun. Every last Saturday of the month Piza E Vino hosts a craft market. So there was a chance to browse & shop while waiting for your food. The restaurant supplied branded blankets on all the outside tables to keep guests warm while they enjoyed some music from a cover band. We drank wine from plastic cups and we're served delicious piping hot pizzas on wooden boards straight from the oven. The ambience of this place is incredible and the pizza is perfectly made with melt in your mouth cheese and a crispy crust. I plan to make it a regular afternoon stop!

We had finished shopping and wanted to go somewhere outdoors to catch last of the summer sun and have breakfast - we happened across Piza E Vino which was open and empty. We had a choice of tables outside and although the breakfast menu is fairly standard it was served beautifully and looked and tasted really good. The waiters were great and happily kept our coffee and fruit juices topped up as we caught up and enjoyed a lazy lunch in the dappled sunshine. When we finally got going about 12 the lunch crowd started to arrive... If you haven't been here, I suggest you do - the outside area is very big so plenty of space to spend a sunny morning catching up with friends and family (and if the weather isn't good, lots of indoor space too) and the service is first class - there are not a lot of outdoor spots that don't have you sharing your coffee with the fumes & noise of passing traffic .. It was a great find !

What a nice experience to find a place in Melville that has parking (lots of it) that is in a great setting, where there are no bums to hassle you, no grubby characters at all o and did I say the food is excellent. What you say then it's can't possibly be Melville.

All in all this is a great restaurant if you want just plain nice pizza, with great service and a excellent beer selection (important)
You can sit on the deck, the stoep or inside but the surrounding old trees make it so much nicer being outside. The owners and waiters are friendly and attentive. And there you have it a cool place to go and have a chat and a bite to eat! And I am going to say it again lots of free safe parking. Go see for yourselves

First things first: the pizza was great. Thin and crispy and not too heavy on the cheese. I love anywhere that will do a half and half and the toppings were great (with the exception of the not-so-fresh fresh basil). Unfortunately the pizzas and the (admittedly lovely) setting were the only highlights: we had mediocre service (perhaps skeleton staff on Boxing Day? They certainly weren't on the ball) and some of the worst cocktails I've ever tasted. Whatever you do, don't order the rose and cucumber spritzer or the cherry gin and tonic! That is, unless turkish delight mixed with your wine appeals.

The setting is lovely and the pizza is good, so if I'm looking for a more leisurely pizza meal than I might get at YOLO down the road, this would be my choice in the Melville area. I wouldn't go for a quick bite, and it wouldn't be where I'd think of if I wanted a takeaway. This is the place to go for a long lunch in the courtyard during a lazy summer afternoon.
