Review Muisbosskerm - Lamberts Bay

If you want tons of food, this is your place!!! Just remember: you have to book beforehand. Lots of seafood (fish, mussels, calamari, etc), homebaked bread with homemade jams, real Kaapse patats (shiny and sweet), chips - all self-service and eat-as-much-as-you-like. Later they had all kinds of potjies, eisbein and other meat dishes. Dessert was koeksisters - not sure if there was anything else for dessert. Really far too much for me to even try and taste everything. We paid corkage and took our own wine. We would have loved to pay the extra for crayfish, but they had none. Very, very rustic. You just get enemal plates and mussel shells to eat with. No other cutlery. They do have wineglasses and lots of ice. And they have a drinks menu with wine, beer and soft drinks. Remember to pack your wetwipes! And if you want to "fine-dine" take a tablecloth. We didn't miss that. A very pleasant experience. But be sure to go in a group, as this is absolutely great for sharing and having fun. And remember that you will sit outside, although under shadow netting. Take your puffer jackets, sunhats and sunglasses with, as it started off real cold and became warmer later in the day.

What a fantastic experience… a real treat! Fantastic variety of food that leaves your taste truly satisfied and your belly full! Everything that comes out is well prepared and absolutely delicious.. Watching the preparations around the fires on the beach is just beautiful… The fish is amazing and the bread … OMG! Love the rustic vibe and overall experience. a definite must to try!

What an experience. West-coast hospitality and the best seafood I have tasted in decades. You can tell all the food is fresh and these people KNOW how to prepare it. I tried my best to keep to small portions, but even doing so, I could not have any of the red meat offerings at the end, as I was stuffed. How can we talk about this venue without mentioning the SPECTACULAR setting. (Hint: We cannot...) On the beach and well sheltered against the West-Coast wind. The most beautiful views over the ocean. Even in not-such-spectacular weather, we could not wish for a better venue.

What a quaint little gem!! At arrival, you are met with a rustic, minimalistic structure right on the beach. The food was delicious and packed with flavour. The buffet type set up, only R350pp, had all types of fish, calamari, seafood paella, stews, various vegetables and bread. Fruit, coffee and koeksisters were also served. I absolutely loved the whole experience and will definitely go back again.

This is one of those places I consider as finding a gem in the rough. If you love your fish then this is most certainly the place you want to be at when visiting the Lambertsbay area. It's like a small buffet of mix sea foods and then few stew types of dishes whilst enjoying the food you get to experience the open view of the ocean as well. They have a bar as well which is well priced.

This well known West Coast gem needs no introduction. We spent the Wednesday evening having dinner here. The buffet only restaurant is really good value. The fare is fresh and the amount of food available will feed an army. We were fortunate to have the owner take us through the hows and when’s and one should heed his advice which is pace yourself The dishes keep on coming from farm fresh bread to one seafood dish after the other. All food is cooked on an open wood fire and is simply amazing. We opted for the extra payment which allocated west coast crayfish for us. This is well worth it and is recommend. Booking is essential and card payment facilities are available Take a jacket with you as being on the ocean front can surprise one. Worth the effort to get there and the food is really excellent. I recommend this to anyone who loves the ocean and seafood

Besides the beautiful view and friendly staff, this was the best seafood we've ever had. Not even talking about the best sweet potatoes you will ever have in your life! This is a once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommend!

What an incredible buffet experience. All the fish are caught locally and open fire serve as the perfect place to braai fish, cook rice and boil water for dessert. Tip: stop eating the evening before because with every course there will be a lot of dishes you’d die to try. By the time the steak and koeksusters were served we went for a walk along the ocean because we just did not want to miss out

If you haven't done this on-the-beach eating experience yet, do yourself a favour and do it! Now! It seems pricey, but trust me, it's value for money. The variety is impressive. Everything is freshly prepared, and there's plenty to go around. If you leave hungry, it's all your own fault. The variety is mind-boggling. The food is fresh and very tasty. The setting is beautiful. Very relaxing. The sea rolling in, and the singing seagulls in the background, complete the picture, and your awesome lunchtime experience! You have to try this at least once. Who knows, it may become a regular outing! Fresh food. Fresh air. Great combination!

We had the privilege of going to Muisbosskerm for dinner on 26 Dec. It was an absolutely brilliant experience - worth every cent. You are not just paying for a meal, but an overall experience. The seafood was all AMAZING. Sweet potatoes are addictive! Waterblommetjie Bredie was delish - even the tripe tasted good! Loved every moment. Left with a very happy tummy! (Pack something warm - tends to get quite cold with the sea breeze)

Excellent venue, delicious food, everything super fresh. I am disappointed with myself, as I heard you eat a lot and believe me I can eat! But here there is no-way you will be able to eat a plate of all their dishes. I so wanted to eat and taste some more, but just couldn't manage. An experience of a lifetime, hope to be able to visit them again soon.

The best freshest seafood I have ever had hands down. The view is over the sea. The host is friendly. It is a must go to!
