So enjoyed lunch yesterday witn my girlfriends. Stunning decor, our waiter G was great, knew the menu & was charming. No problem exchanging the not to my taste bearnaise for pepper sauce at no additional cost for the great grass fed fillet.The huge portion of roasted veg was the best ever. My companions concurred with 2 of us having the same food but I'll definitely be back to try the highly rated prawn pasta one evening & the mussels starter for lunch before too long.
Delicious food in all 3 courses, lovely ambience and excellent service. We were personally spoken to by the chef 2 or 3 times and had a delightful, well spoken waiter (Thabani).
Friday was my cheat meal
Rump steak 500g was perfect
Decor was different and suited the theme.
However the seating decor means that if you have weak bladder and you in the middle everyone has to slide out to allow you to go to bathroom.
That was my only issue.

I had an amazing time here with my friend who's also a colleague on Tuesday evening. The ambience, atmosphere was awesome. My friend enjoyed her meal but unfortunately I didn't. Had steak which was dry with a terrible tasting mushroom sauce. Bacon cheese fries were lovely though. Regardless of my not enjoying my food "Gugu" our waitron was exquisite. I will be back just for the service we received from him.....
Good food and great service, the voodoo buffalo wings are incredible, blue cheese sauce and buttermilk crusted onion rings were to die for... amazing night out. Well done 1904.

Mike and I did our “Cafe Life” book launch here both Friday and Saturday. The staff (Geraldine and Calvin)were amazing. The people who attended loved the food and everyone commented on stylish setting. Lance thank you for checking in from time to time to see that all was good.
Love the decor at this place! It’s has a very retro vibe to it. Walked in to a cocktail special which was an added bonus! I had the rib eye steak with seasonal veggies and smashed potatoes. The portion size was good and the food and drinks were delicious with good flavor! Will definitely be coming back here soon!
I have been to 1904 a few times and each time I just love it and leave so satisfied. The servers are very helpful and attentive. The chef has come out to say hello a couple of times. My husband loves this as he is a fellow foodie and can chat a! bout the menu and dishes forever! I took my son for a freak shake and loaded fries!!! such decadence! YUM! you have to try these chips, they have bacon or pulled pork and lots of cheese all over them! Real comfort food at a reasonable price
Meals were simply DEVINE!!! This 90s style diner literally made me feel like I was living the Guy Fieri’s ‘diners, drive-ins and dives’ lifestyle. Meals are extremely huge and freshly made to order. The menu had a really wide variety of burgers, hotdogs, steak, pastas, etc. so this is definitely a place to visit again. The service was not up to standard as our waiter seemed very clueless and blonde however the managers of the place continued to check if we were doing fine with our meals. Overall, it was a good experience and definitely a place to visit again to satisfy any cravings.
We went for dinner on a Friday night. It was very warm and cozy. We had really good service for the night and the food was delicious. My friends ordered a steak with chips and the lamb shank with mash. I ordered the livers (from the starters menu - it was a tomato based sauce) and corn bread. My friend organized a birthday treat for dessert which was really special. Thanks to the 1904 team! Keep up the great work.
Awesome food, awesome decor and friendly staff. We've been here several times and were never disappointed! Their voodoo wings with mature cheddar sauce are an absolute must. The pulled chicken and crumbed prawns are great as well. Generous portions and lots of flavour. Will definitely be back. The bathroom is sort of awkwardly located, around the back of the restaurant.
Great place, I love the aesthetic. Soon as you get there you're greeted by the friendly staff. My only issue is that after we were given the menu's, our waiter just disappeared and we just sat there waiting for someone to take our order. We had to ask another waiter to help us

Great venue with an extensive menu and beautiful art nouveau style décor. The atmosphere and food are reminiscent of a 50s diner. I enjoyed my toasted cheese, and the toasted marshmallow milkshake was decadent and tasty. The menu is, however, quite expensive, and the soup my friend ordered was a very small portion.
Service was excellent, good ambience, food arrived quickly, restaurant is spacious modern and airy. Food was good. Porterhouse steak, fillet steak, famous 1904 burgur, beer batter fish.
My friends and I went here for a late lunch. When we first arrived, it was a bit empty but traffic started to pick up early evening. The staff is friendly and energetic. The food was good. The only mishap we had was our food not being registered at the till at the same time, thus we had to wait extra for our food.
Always have an amazing experience there, best for birthday dinners and family time , food is always spot on and delicious, and have a great variety of different foods to chose from.

A lovely restaurant with a wonderful menu. Something to suit all tastes. A great drinks menu and wine menu with reasonable prices. My husband had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The Linguine was al dented and the sauce - definitely a winner in my books! For kids, the chicken strips are a great portion and the milkshakes would make you want your own.
I had heard such great things about this restaurant from my friends and I was so excited to go there. We went there after a hike in Kloof with a toddler and They were really accommodating.
Really love the American diner aesthetic of the place not just in the decor but also in the way the food is served. The food was really delicious especially their Strawberry milkshake. However the waiters could be better as it was hard to locate our waiter.
Had wanted to try this spot out for ages after seeing their Instagram page. Beautifully decorated cafe with a retro vibe. Went through for coffee but ended up feeling a bit snacky.
Service was bordering on average. Found it difficult to flag down our waiter when required. Food was good though. Cheese fries are a passion of mine. Well, cheese in general actually. And these were great.
The wrap was also good and well presented. Good portion sizes.

The modern decor is so tastefully done and very detailed right down to the American styled sugar jars. Its a classy yet laid back feel with the comfy couches and pillows.
The Louisiana prawn starter was scrumpdidlyumptious! Its a must try, their large variety of food leaves you spoilt for choice.
I saw reviews about the staff and service being below average, I think they corrected that part because we had great service from Musa and a few others that checked up on us.
Unfortunately the Duke Fillet did dissapoint me after such a lovely starter, bit of an anticlimax. Needed salt, lacked that x factor, nothing to brag about.
However, I will give it another bash for the vibe and to try something else. So much variety, its worth another try.

Decided to try out this spot and trek up the hill to a great venue. Hosts are utterly splendid and very accommodating. Waiters know what's on their menu and very efficient. Great spot for a chilled dinner but I assume that breakfast must be a real treat with the options on the menu. Portions are large so opt to share. Great night out out and worth a try 👌🏻
My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out for our 2 year anniversary and we had an awesome experience. My burger was huge and her Mac n Cheese was very cheesy. Drinks arrived in record time and our waitress, Zinhle, was very friendly. Will definitely be going back :)
Love love love it here! I think the bestie & I have found a new hangout. I really wish I could have ordered everything on the menu (biggest variety ever) food is excellent and so are the prices. It's beautiful inside and a trendy environment. Only down fall are the jalapeño poppers...the menu says jalapeño stuffed with mozzarella ( the usual) but I got this new creation of probably chopped up peppers in cheese (I dunno). It was so tasty but with zero kick at all. I really think they can be number 1 on my list had they just served a normal popper, need to crunch into that entire jalapeño!
Other than that, it's an awesome place, and he I can't wait to go back.

A group of friends and I decided to get our Guy Fieri on and visited 1904 for the 1st time.The restaurant was nicely styled with a mordern American dinner theme (hope i got that right) Ordered the sliced brisket (based on other reviews)and man ou man ...... it dam sure didnt disappoint.The sides that came along were also good. I tasted the vegetarian pasta option that one of the guys ordered and i must admit that it really sucked. Tried most of the milk shakes on the menu (due to us being in a group) and the double chocolate stood out ( probably one of the best i ever had ). The service was really great from the waitress and the manager that was doing his rounds. Definitely going again !!!
Had the falafel burger and sorbet. The burger was really good and got a big portion of sorbet. Our waiter was really friendly and made us feel really comfortable

As soon as I saw the menu I was SO excited, it's all the America without the Trump.
We ordered the Rocky Road milkshake and the Cookies and Cream. The Rocky Road was okay but the Cookies and Cream did not disappoint, it had good bits of chocolate in it, which tasted like chocolate that you get in those cup ice creams (we were trying to figure why it tasted so familiar and that was our conclusion).
Then for lunch we order the Po' boy, Philly Cheese Steak, Pulled Pork Bun and Cheesy Chilly Fries. We were also going to order the Cuban sandwich but on the menu it said corned beef but traditionally it has ham, sup with that?
The Po' boy was delicious, crispy prawns and the fresh tomatoes and lettuce go really well with it.
The slight hint of spiciness in the sauce (or in the crumbed prawns?) was definitely needed.
Philly Cheese Steak was meh. It lacked seasoning and needed something extra, caramelized onions maybe?
Pulled Pork Bun was AMAZING. It's everything you wish for when you think of pulled pork. Unlike other places, it's not too saucy or too sweet either, and you get some of the char from the grill.
I've read some poor reviews about the staff etc on some other websites but I have to say that the waiters were very friendly, attentive and knew the menu well. In fact, the waiter recommended the Cookies and Cream Milkshake which turned out to be the better decision.
1904 is definitely my new favorite restaurant. I cannot express how amazing this restaurant is. For one the design of the restaurant is so aesthetically pleasing that I couldn't help but snap a few photos for my Instagram. I stopped there with my boyfriend for milkshakes and were extremely happy. I ordered an M&M milkshake while he ordered a chocolate brownie freak shake. It was definitely worth the price. I can't wait to go back there to try out the food. Brilliant. Could not recommend more.
Great decor and vibe, upmarket but comfortable feel. The staff were SUPER enthusiastic (maybe a little too much), but very helpful and attentive. Menu is large and heavily meat based (burgers, ribs etc) so come hungry. We had a burger and a rib/pulled pork combo, the latter of which was the winner.
Had an amazing dinner with friends here and the service was excellent. We ordered the Caribbean Jerk chicken, Seafood hot pot and the prison platter. The waiting time for the meal was moderate and didn't take long. Everything was done excellently. The atmosphere was serene and the decor was quite tasteful. It's a great place for families to meet up and have a great family time. Would definitely go back and try other options on the menu. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love going here for meeting up with family, friends and even a little date. Atmosphere completely unique and an escape from reality with neon lights and floral prints. Drinks are always amazing, coffee is superb and food is great. On the upper class of restaurants and the prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity you've ordered.

This is the second time we have been to 1904 , and again , they did not disappoint . Frederick our Waiter was Amazing and Nigel , the Front of House Manager , very attentive . The Head Chef came to our table twice to check that we were happy . The food was stunning , even though I don't normally order Burgers , mine was the tastiest I have ever had . We even ordered the Voodoo wings and Prawn Appetiser as take outs because we were so impressed . Keep up the Good work and see you in 7 months when I am back in the Country 👊🏻

My family and I had an awesome time. It was my son's birthday and our waiter, Isaac, went out of his way to make our evening more special.
Our meal consisted of the mussel starter together with chicken wings. Everything was sumptuously prepared. This was the perfect set-up for our mains.
Again, our food was incredibly well prepared and this resulted in tender, flavourful meat.
The food was great and Musa, our waitress was friendly and attentive. The place is beautiful with lovely aesthetics. We spent our afternoon here for lunch. The chocolate cake was perfect. Despite the place being packed with lotsa celebrations going on, Musa was always around to check up on us. Would definitely recommend this place. Overall, the experience was lovely.
Atmosphere amazing, service out of this world.... The food was ridiculously delicious I could have some more if I had an extra stomach. That Prisoners platter was something else. Those ribs just fell off the bone, the pulled pork was amazin. I have never had ribs that good. The balance from the smoke, the sauce and the spice rub you could taste everything. My wife couldn't stop talking about her meal, Chef's Dave Manhattan. The steak was perfectly cooked as per her instructions and the sauce was amazing. We will definitely going back very soon.
Celebrated my birthday here and wow, what a lovely evening. Everything was amazing - from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere and general vibe of the restaurant. We were a group of 10 and nobody had any complaints about their food whatsoever.
They brought me ice cream with a sparkler and wished me for my birthday which I thought was really thoughtful and they allowed me to bring in my own cake.
Will definitely be back as there is so much on the menu I still want to try!!

Great restaurant located in Kloof. Lovely theme and sleek modern design concepts. Service is great. Food and drinks are amazing, signature burgers, gourmet hotdogs, slow roasted pork and beef. My favourite is the burgers and milkshakes. Authentic American style milkshakes and burgers as well as hot dogs. I had a lovely time here and have been going here regularly. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone with a passion for good food.
