Review Ragamuffin Curry - Kenilworth

Nicole Van Der Vyver
This hidden gem serves great food at really good prices. I love that the crockery doesn't match. It's a place to go chill with loved ones for as long as you like while enjoying flavours that awaken your senses. There are colourful cushions to sit on when using the benches, handmade beaded placemats and the drinking glasses create playful reflections when the sun is at the right spot. The owner has a heart to serve...in more ways than just the obvious good food.

What an awesome little spot. Firstly the most friendly and welcoming staff you could hope for. We dropped in for dinner, I had their version of a Durban Lamb Curry, very tasty, good quality meat and generous portion for the price. My friend had their butter chicken which she declared to be the best ever. We shared 3 starter, mince samoosas, chicken wings and Cumin Lamb Ribs, each one more fabulous than the next. I would certainly recommend it, they are not licensed but you can take your own if you wanted wine with your meal. Also very important is the fabulous atmosphere, a real gem.

Small, cosy restuarant situated just off the main road in Kenilworth. One of the places in Cape Town that serves THE BEST curry around. Meat, chicken and vegetarian options available. Everything is scrumpious and delicious ! Generous portions. Sit down and takeaway options available. Specials are always available. Staff are always warm and friendly. Off street [arking available.

Quaint, intimate, local curry place with a feel-good vibe. The food is good and the desserts fantastic (leave room for them). We had one medium-sized and one out-sized curry and that was plenty for two. However, the butter chicken recipe needs adapting so that it looks like one expects, yellow and creamy (another reviewer mentioned this too). We left a normal corkage fee but on reflection that was too much because apart from the pretty glasses provided, the waiters did not touch our wine. We really appreciated the hot plates and the jug of water, lemon and ice. The place gets very busy after 7.30 with waiters doubling as cooks, but it is a lovely place to be. We'll return.

Great little spot. V relaxed unlike the busier noisier spots nearby. Yummy affordable meals, focus on curries and Indian wraps. Only reason it wasn't 5 stars is the lack of coffee.... I will return

Can't recommend highly enough. An incredibly satisfying and inexpensive vegan curry experience. For those who don't like it spicy, it's served very mild with side portions of two strengths of chilli to add fire to suit your taste. This place is a gem in a million. The medium portions are more than enough for one. Vegan ice cream is also good. Friendly and well mannered owner as well, who is on the floor serving you.

Quaint, intimate curry restaurant with wonderful food and very friendly staff. Well priced too. A true Cape Town gem.

Fantastic, friendly service, amazing food and great atmosphere for such a tiny place. Its my new favourite go to for a good curry. I had the garlic pork vindaloo medium spice, will go full spice next time. Absolutely delicious. Would love to see naan bread on the menu.

Tiny place, serving generous portions of a range of decent curries. No liquor license, so bring your own. Probably more suited to take-aways for most people's preferences, but we had friendly and delightfully quirky service, and the food was good value, though uneven in quality (some dishes, especially the chicken, overcooked).

Stunning curry. Friendly staff. Will be back for more shortly. You need to book.

Great food, friendly staff. Interesting take on Indian food and very tasty. Cosy atmosphere. Go with friends. Bring your own wine as they don’t have a license yet. Will definitely be back

Ragamuffin is my favourite place to grab a bit anywhere near Kenilworth. The curries are delicious and imaginative, the staff is super friendly, and the ambiance is quirky and delightful. Whether you want to dine-in or take your food home with you, you won't be disappointed. Also, it's small enough to feel like your little secret ;)

Wow!!! Absolutely delicious. Hole in the wall, great service and flavours that are heaven sent. The combination of spices and heat are just spot on. The rotis are next level. Indian Fried Chicken Wings, Durban Mutton Curry and Chai Malva pudding is delish!!

We have a boerseun who makes better curry’s than any of the Indians around. Great dishes and a great atmosphere! We love his Margate twist on a chicken curry.

Our first visit to Ragamuffins in the eternal quest for a good, reasonably priced curry in the Cape....and we were not disappointed. Small, quirky, friendly staff, lovely chatty owner and really good food with lots of extras. This little gem is worth a visit and we will most certainly be back to try some more adventurous dishes - plus my boys want to eat on a Tuesday when they do their Bunny Chow. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Small, quaint hideout nestled in the southern suburbs. Lovely ambiance. Friendly atmosphere. Great curries - meat, vegetarian and vegan options available! I recommend the Ethiopian red lentils as a main with the eggplant, chickpea and peanut curry as a side. Definitely try the raw vegan brownie for dessert. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Very unique curry. The taste is amazing. No two curries taste the same . Very delicious. Curry gem in the heart of Kenilworth . Good food produced by good people.

Very chuffed to find this little spot. We ordered our curry and collected around 10 minutes after our call.

Greeted by very cheerful staff the place is colourful and vibrant if you would like to sit down and eat.

The menu is small but the three of us all ordered differently and all enjoyed our food. There were a couple of extra food options on their board which weren’t on the website so best to ask when ordering via telephone if there are some daily specials. All meals come with rice, sambals, and a small veggie curry side.

Great value for money and would definitely return for another takeaway!
