Review Borruso's - Kenilworth

Angelique White
Such a lovely dinner out with family on my first visit to Cape Town. In Kennilworth is where this quaint, traditional Italian gem can be found. Think 'Nonna's' kitchen - cozy corners, mood lighting, mismatched chairs, and the chatter of happy customers clinking wine glasses and enjoying generously portioned, delicious food. Perfect pizza - thin crust with lovely quality toppings. I had the blue cheese and fig preserve foccacia to start and the Puttanesca fettucine for mains. Brilliant. My family (who make this a regular stop) highly recommend the Lasagne - I'll absolutely have that next time šŸ˜…

Very good spot. My boyfriend says ā€œthe waitresses/waiters are very attractive here. But not so much the management staffā€ I love the vibes and the toppings. The banana fire thing is awesome! Would recommend

Great old fashioned restaurant in Kenilworth/Claremont. Very cozy with a wonderful ambiance. Food was delicious.

Went with family from overseas since we have grown up with this place but also because it is the only pizza and pasta place that is delicious beyond say. Pizza is thin base, with amazing toppings and superb fresh chilli on the side. Favourites are the 'foccaccio' and the 'no name brand', as well as the pasta 'alfredo', which is creamy and so full of authentic flavours. There is a very unique and special quality and character of Borrussos that makes it stand out. From the colours of choice, different furnitures, old victorian style bathroom to the wood fired oven surrounded by money notes, and of course the vintage alcohol bottles and the team pictures throughout the years on display. Lovely owners and such cheerful young ladies and gents working there give such a great vibe and an atmosphere worth wanting more. We have and will always enjoy every moment... Keep up the incredible work and thank you team for bringing smiles to everyone's faces! See you soon, as you will say, pizza will never ever go wrong:) Take care everybody.

The staff are always friendly and welcoming. They don't rush you so you can relax and enjoy the visit. You can order a half / half pizza for those of us who cannot decide on just 1 pizza flavour. You can also take your own wine

Loved it. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great pizza. Would have been 5 star if it wasn't for the wait for food. It was packed so no problem but a bit long. Will give another go for sure!

Had a fantastic pasta dish and focaccia. Would definitely recommend for pasta or pizza at a reasonable price.

Amazing pizza and pasta dishes. A big variety of choices to satisfy everyone's tastes and preferences. I like the thin bases and saw pizzas come out with fresh cold tomato added on top definitely will try next time. Our waitress was friendly but service a little slow due to business of restaurant-however highly recommend Borrusos. I had the feta, šŸ„“ and šŸ„‘ pizza (FAB on menu) and added smoked chicken. Excuse the slice taken out pic couldn't wait to dive in.

Always have the most delicious food and quick service. We are always in and out of there in 40 minutes because the food comes out so quickly and is so yummy that we eat it in seconds. I highly recommend a big bowl of gluten-free paste and the FAB pizza. This is a go-to pizza spot in the southern suburbs. Update: It's still the best pizza and pasta in Cape Town. The service was so amazing and quick.

Always a great meal at Borruso's. Tables are a little on top of each other where we sat but is winter and they lose a lot of outside seating so understandable. Quick and friendly service, great food.

Quite easily the best Pizzas in Cape Town. The Owners make the effort to get to know their customers and with the quirky relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant is always busy (for all of the right reasons)

Probably the best pizza I've ever had in my 47 years on this planet! Thanks so much guys!! Great service, friendly relaxed vibes, and Jasso..what a FANTASTIC thin based pizza!! Big up yourselves for being consistently just absolutely fabulous!!!!

Lovely restaurant, lovely server (as they always are) - her name was Sye (most likely the incorrect spelling). The manager behind the counter comes across as VERY rude and stressed. Iā€™m a regular customer and have noticed what I would describe as a decline in his demeanour over the last year. He manages the payments and phone orders to my knowledge. To this manager: Please consider speaking to your staff with more decency. Last night you spoke to them as if they were incompetent - which they are not. I watched the interactions in disbelief. The entire team is working hard and doing their best in a very busy setting - your visible stress levels only add more pressure to the working environment. Might be best to be working out of the public eye if this is the way you manage yourself in a fast paced/high stress environment. Will always be back because this is a special little place to me, but would prefer to not see these interactions and leave feeling horrible for the staff.

By far my favourite pizza in Cape Town. With great pizza, pasta and calzone options this restaurant has a fantastic vibe and delicious food.

Another wonderful meal. The lasagne is so good I literally dream about it ! And even on a chilly evening you can still sit outside in the under cover area Family favourite for sure !

Iā€™ve been going to Borrusoā€™s with my family since I was a child, about 20 years ago. After living overseas for a number of years I had the privilege of visiting Borrusoā€™s again a few weeks ago, and Iā€™m happy to say it has not changed one bit. Still the best service with the best pizza makers (who knew my order without me asking) and a warm and homely environment that screams authentic Italian. I will make sure Borrusoā€™s is on my to-do list every time I come back to South Africa- my favourite pizza place ever.
