This restaurant was amazing. The food, the portions, the service. Can't say enough about this amazing place.
Nicole Unila
The food was to die for, absolutely superb! And our server, Cleopatra, was phenomenal! She was helpful, friendly and overall Amazing! Definitely will be going back soon!

We had a truly extraordinary time here! Was sceptical at first but couldn’t imagine a better place to have dinner. Soft ambient atmosphere with amazing food. The service was even better. Our waiter (Karabo) was excellent to say the least and truly ensured that we enjoyed the evening. Highly recommend

Had an amazing time at Platia celebrating my mom's birthday. From the time we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Cleopatra who served us so well. The food was delicious, fresh and tasty. I would definitely come back especially for Cleopatra, she is such a beautiful soul. Thank you Platia, loved every moment!! ❤

I have been to Platia a few times and they never disappoint, everything about the restaurant gets 5 stars from me🫰

Nice place to be and the food is very budget friendly 😍
Cheryl Anne Usherwood
It was a lovely experience. We were fortunate to come when they had a special on eisbien. All in all the service was really good and the food not only looked good but tasted amazing. The restaurant itself has a nice open feel to it so if it gets busy I don’t feel like you would feel clustered with all the other guests. Definitely worth a try.

Overall good experience 90% of the food was good. Only gripe is the fish that was very hard. Other than that great food and presentation would recommend.👍🏼
Trishen Naidoo
Great food and service.
Phillip Du Plessis
Good food, great staff, what a awesome experience, but what really blew my mind was the great special that they had on their Eisbein! But overall, i definitely recommend this place!

The floor manager is very friendly and knows how to deal with customers. The food is excellent and worth it. Calamari and chicken livers is a must try for starters.

When last did you find yourself at Platia It's been forever since I was last there. We decided to give them a go again for a quick dinner before the draw. If you are lucky enough to be served by Hendricks, he is friendly, funny alomg with great service. We tried a few things, the Garlic Snails, The creamy prawns with no garlic, the Beef strips in creamy sauce, Chicken and Beef Gyro, Skordalia, and Fish and chips. The food was still good. Dad wished there was more garlic in the Snails. The Skordalia was mixed alot smoother than other greek places I've eaten at, and I just found the knife a bit awkward to cut the gyro. But otherwise a great meal, and lovely service. Will be back again. Thanks Hendricks 😂 #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TFMPlatia

Hi we had dinner there last night.Service was very good that we got from Peter and the manager. Very disapointed in food. Pitas and dips was nice. My greek salad was warm,my meze platter was microwaved exept for calamari that was nice. Its not cheap,i dnt mind paying the rate but then it must be non microwaved fresh food. Our bill came yo almost R900 for 2 people. For that i expect quality.

Had the fillet steak with Avo & Bacon to die for. Kleftiko also out of this world. And the best waitress Cleopatra. Very friendly ataff and excellent service. The best place at Emperors and most accommodating.
Michelle Heron
First time eating at your restaurant and unfortunately it was terribly disappointed. The service was poor even though the place was empty. The food also not good the creamed spinach had a very strange flavour and was illuminous green. Your roasted veg consisted of mainly peppers and onion. Ordered 2 portions of Haloumi and it looked like the 1 was half of a portion. Kids ribs so full of bbq sauce they couldn't eat . sorry for the rant but eating here for the first time I expected something great.
Brandon Lee Sheffield
My absolute favourite resturant! The food is to die for, especially their sauces. Ive had many occasions there including anniversaries and a 21st. The staff are friendly and the owner brings a passion like few people can. Just when you thought you've had a bad day you can smash some plates after a fantastic meal to cheer yourself up!

Decided on Platia for something different for my Birthday Dinner out with mom and the boyfriend. The waiting staff so friendly, the watermelon Cosmo cocktail was soooo yummy, the food absolutely to die for, AND complimentary yummy cake and a oppa! plate smashing to celebrate my birthday. Will DEFINITELY be back for the next date night
Charlene Haripersad
Food was excellent. Our steak was done to perfection. Everyone loved their meals. Service from our waiter was a bit on the slow side....but not terrible.
Beverley Coston
We have been going to this amazing restaurant for years and have never had anything to complain about, every meal is of the best quality. Attentive and friendly staff and Management who make you feel extremely welcome! Highly recommended.
Rhyno Pretorius
Excellent welcoming Excellents food and even better service i can recommend them anytime thanks you guys

My first time ever at this restaurant, the oxtail was a bit oily, but the food was amazing and the service was great. Will recommend it to anyone at any given time .
Melitta Adams
It was our first time at your restaurant and I found a piece of plastic in my food which was very oily. The manager was very apologetic and offered a free dessert which I didn't want, she brought it anyway. Great gesture I suppose. Everyone else's food was ok. We had cocktails and the strawberry daiquiri tasted like ice with cheap syrup. The mojitos were warm for some weird reason, even though it had ice in it and it was terribly sweet. Weird experience. Don't think I would go again.
Belinda Van Der Merwe
Had their 300g rump steak topped with bacon, feta and Avo. It was absolutely amazing! Meat was cooked just right! Great food, great cocktails and friendly staff! Will definitely be back.
Leonora Millard
Have eaten there many a time. Always great. Unfortunately yesterday I took my family there for birthday celebration. Food was not bad, but not like previous and the service was poor. Very disappointed.
Cathy Filmalter
It was one fun evening especially the belly dancer and the breaking of plates not to forget the excellent service and pleasant staff.

Excellent food, excellent service. Good entertainment. Always a pleasure going to Platia. Sophia (Yia Yia) always hands on even when off duty. Been going there for years and will continue to go there. Best restaurant in Guateng.

Michelle Botes
Great food...value for money and friendly staff. I will definitely be back.

Good quality steaks, tender and tasty. The Chips are not so nice but the meal was good. Enjoyable.

Platia can serve some really good Greek food at Emperor’s Palace. We are there while staying at the hotel to watch a show the next day. I personally think the lamb gyro is the best thing there. The lamb was tender and succulent. Their starters are also amazing. The pita bread sauces are the best: creamy and fresh tzatziki, divine hummus and their amazing scordalia which had a rich garlic intensity to it. I definitely think this is a good place to eat at and I personally recommend it for dinners.
Love❤food
I was looking forward to Platia as I love Greek food but on arrival the hostess seemed confused as to the booking and the table that I booked earlier that day was given to someone else.<br/>I asked that I be seated inside as that is what I requested, the hostess asked us to sit at a table outside while she went inside to look for a table.<br/>20 minutes later, still sitting outside, I decide to call another restuarant nearby to make a reservation just as I was on the phone the hostess came back to say she found a table for us. The long wait and confusion could have been avoided if the hostess/s, manger and staff communicated with each other to avoid this sort of mistake.<br/>We were seated inside and a waiter came to get pur drinks order... he was friendly enough but all over the place, he looked rushed and was a bit forgetful.<br/>On a positive note, the food was really good unfortunately I won't be going back anytime soon, if ever as the staff and management are all lost in the chaos at Platia...

OPA!!! 🇬🇷 if you love Greek, Mediterranean or just simply flavoursome food, please please please, definitely pop a visit to @platia_emperors 💯💯💯 I always start off with some Hummus and Pita bread. The hummus is freshly made and the pita breads have the soft, light pillow effect on the palette. My absolute favorite meal is the Kotopoulo - grilled chicken breasts with a choice of mushroom/cheese sauce. You can decide on 2 sides - veggies;chips; roasted potatoes; creamed spinach; mash or rice. I always stick to the mash and creamed spinach. Le compagnon enjoyed the Chicken in Pita/Gyros with a side of chips, a fresh salad and tzatziki/hummus filling. Walking into the restaurant resonates with the coastal vibes of Santorini. I’ve held occasions here and the crew have been more than warm and welcoming, decorating the table and pulling everyone onto the dance floor to do some traditional plate breaking with fun moves! It’s always a blast and a major recommendation for anyone looking for a satisfying meal or a special something to celebrate. Also, the cocktails are basically straight out of the Greek Islands. Who really needs to go island hopping??!😉🍹🏖 #platia #emperorspalacecasino #greekfood #greek #mediterraneandiet #hummus #pitabread #kotopoulo #gyros #opa #santorini #southafrica #foodie #foodiesofinstagram #foodiesofsa #foodography #foodiegram #myhappyplace

For me food was superb at Platia. I enjoyed the plate breaking dance with all part took in. The lamb shank was tender and cook to perfection. The Super Queen Prawns with creamed spinach and vegetables was indeed Super. We also tried the seafood platter for 1 which was a hearty meal. The pork ribs and chips was divine. The service given by Kelvin was excellent.

I would usually slam a place for the 30 min wait for 10 coffees we ordered when the restaurant was only half full and the desert they served my with off cream. Staff loitering at the front while customers aren’t being served, however I do know the owner who usually runs a tight ship and is based at the restaurant has had a tragedy in the family and has not been able to be at the restaurant. So the score is based off average of prior experiences here and this experience.
Ash Lee
Always a pleasure to have a meal here. Friendly service, good food. Usually take the family here if we are in the mood for Greek food and that Mediterranean atmosphere you get when dining here. Thumbs up to a great place
Kayla Groth
It's great for a hot summer's day. The menu doesn't offer many options to choose from but the food is good. The staff are friendly. The starters are all so yum. The moussaka was good, very big portion.

One of my favorite places to eat at emperors palace. The eisbein is amazing. Best i have had yet. Friendly servers. Great service. And food is delicious. Steak is great too. Would definitely recommend Platia to anyone.
Theo Cheung
This restaurant has the white wall vibe like the Santorini in Greece. The Greek food is delicious. Had the meze platters and the meat was cooked just right! I would recommend this as a good Greek restaurant. Services is good and quick.
Neville Govender
There was a beef strips starter with some bread that i tried at this outlet. Good God it was the best beef starter i've had. Service is also good and the prices are on par.
Kyara Khan
amazing dinner I had this past weekend with my family. the rib eye and fillets were so juicy and tender that they would melt in our mouths on every single bite we had. the service was also on point
Promise_foodie
Decided to try out this place for the first time and I loved it☺☺<br/>Had the Meze platter for one and my partner has the ribs and prawns, everything was fresh and well done, for once I actually had no complains!<br/>Loved the decor and friendly service, will definitely be going back.
Tanya Vorster Bezuidenhout
Food is always top notch. Waiter service is good as well.<br/>The owner is very attentive and we got a little special treat for our anniversary.<br/><br/>It would be great if the could keep chutney for the people who don’t like tomato sauce.
Kimson Chan
This place has changed quite a number of times and to be honest, it looks quite a decent place. Service was slow but at taking care of the customer's. Food wise, the starter buns was a bit burnt but the White Bait was not bad. Pretty light and not too bony. The meze platter was also quite nice as meat was well cooked.
Colettelavinia
After the most horrible service and food at Aurelia’s we went to Platia and the food and service was excellent. After telling our waiter that we really needed great service after the disaster of Aurelia’s he went out of his way to give us the best service. <br/>We’ve been here on numerous occasions and the food and service is always exceptional. The meatballs are so delicious and the calamari was cooked to perfection. You really can’t go wrong with a selection of their meze. <br/>It’s a pity they no longer serve the Greek yoghurt with honey though.<br/>But overall it’s still the best place to eat at Emperor’s.
Nicola Steyn
The best mussels I have ever had! Please can you include it as a combo or make it that you can order it as a main meal. Great service and vibe too! A great Greek experience!

Good food!<br/>Love the Greek lamb chops with tzatziki sauce, and pita's<br/>The lamb gyro's also 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻<br/>Nice vibe for a birthday party also, with real Greek traditions<br/>Lovely selection of deserts
Amardeep Sethi
That awkward situation when u select something from the menu which is a specialty of the restaurant and then your server tells u pls don't order that,it doesn't tastes good, that's what happen <br/>Poor service ,average food n long waiting time before ur food get served <br/>Live belly dance was the only interesting point
Ian Parker
Food was overcooked. Sure I was served 2 beef in place of 1 lamb 1 beef kebab. Complained yet nothing was done. Host or waiter couldn't use card machine had to do it myself. Really horrible evening out. Thank you for ruining my evening

Went through on Friday night for dinner after making a booking the day before. We arrived and they had no record of our booking but we were accommodated anyway. Our waitress was extemely pleasant and friendly. We ordered the create your own meze platter which included the creamy garlic prawns, deep fried squid heads and creamy beef strips with fresh bread. The food arrived quickly and everything was tasty and filling. The restaurant is beautiful with a great vibe. I would have given a better rating but they forgot about my birthday request as well as our booking. Will probably be back though.
Kylie
Food was very average. I love Greek restaurants and food because of the warm, energetic Mediterranean ambience but found this sorely lacking in this restaurant. The food was presented like a canteen. I felt the restaurant lacked character. Deeply disappointed.
Sheila Barnes
Very good meal. Ordered Starters, Fish Main and drinks. Prompt friendly service. Manager made welcome round and was interested in comments. Food hot and tasty with good sized portions.

Wow what a meal that was amazing thank you Platia not Greek but European and truly enjoyed my meal beyond words thank you so rare to find good food now a days I will definitely be back and soon keep up the great work and the service is fast and friendly amazing night

We got invited here for a friends birthday, and it was okay. The food is average; nothing to go home and rave about. The decor is pretty, the staff friendly and the breaking of plates is a whole lot of fun! <br/>I tried the grilled calamari with a side of salad and creamed spinach. The calamari was soft, and the lemon butter sauce ample. My husband had had the lamb chops with the same sides as I, his meat was cooked well, and was tasty. <br/>
Leon Van Zyl
The service was very fast and friendly but we where here early so no rush. The pricing seems a bit high but I think it's location related. Ordered the lamp shank and it was very well done soft and tasty. The only reason I gave only 4 rating and not higher is the salt content on the food was a tad too high and left me with a dry mouth afterwards.
Lauras World
Cue ---- night of the YOU Spectacular 2016 Awards, and a slightly overdressed Laura's World bumbling in here fairly late, with a large table of friends for some bubbly. What an experience! Platia in Greek means the square and their authentic Greek cuisine is something out of a magazine. <br/><br/>I decided that I wanted not one but four starters and duly ordered them all starting with 6 fresh oysters (with Green Tabasco & black pepper), creamy beef strips, oxtail soup and last but certainly not least.. their signature garlic prawns paros. There was a whole lot of garlic going on but no-one seemed to mind. <br/>Oysters - excellent.<br/>Creamy beef strips - very chewy meat, that certainly needed a couple more hours of cooking. I actually left this dish. <br/>Oxtail soup - delicious, tender meat with vegetables and the red wine really came through in this dish. I would have liked more meat in it though. <br/>Garlic Prawns Paros - For some reason, even though the fresh garlic sauce topped with mozzarella cheese was mind-blowingly delicious, I really felt a disappointed to not be able to find the prawns in this dish. To be honest, I felt like I was playing pin the tail on the donkey.. only there was no donkey. I think that I eventually managed to fish three or four tiny shrimp-looking prawns out and used the toasted Greek village bread to soak up all the delicious sauce. <br/><br/>On the whole, a great evening. Service was good and the plate breaking and dancing was an experience! Would I return if I was ever in the area again? I think so.
Marentia Van Kasterop
A very nice restaurant with stunning decor, friendly service and good food. <br/><br/>The attention to detail is above average and the service really good. <br/><br/>One of the few Greek restaurants where you can still break plates with Greek dancing on Friday and Saturday evenings. <br/><br/>Really worth a visit 😄😄😄- June 2016<br/><br/>We revisited and were shocked and disappointed by the new look. They stripped out all the stunning decor and Greek character. All that is left is just another restaurant.......with a ceiling on the wall...😞😞...<br/><br/>What a pity 😖😖😖
Dimitri Sikiotis
Wasn't very impressed at all, had a 500g T bone which was more like a 300g portion- steak was dry even though I ordered it medium, veggies cold, the best thing on the plate was the chips. My wife had the chicken and calamari combo, calamari was mediocre and the chicken was far from succulent-definitely won't go back, overall a mediocre experience
The Food Musketeer
09.02.2016 Not sure how I missed reviewing this place but I've been here a few times. This time we came back to celebrate a friends birthday before watching the tribute to ABBA show.<br/><br/>Definitely a fun vibey place to catch up with friends or celebrate an ocasion. Friday evenings they normally have Greek / belly dancing to add to the atmosphere and the famous breaking of plates. Our waiter on this ocasion - Dash was such a lovely friendly welcoming and accommodating guy. He had all the patience for us confused ladies that didn't know what to order. He also got us 3 plates for our friend. One of which she broke as tradition and the second one to hang up on their wall inside and the 3rd we decided to decorate as a memorable gift to mark the occasion.<br/><br/>I ordered the prawns with chips and salad. Good portion size and the flavour was spot on. My friends ordered the oxtail which they enjoyed and the chicken skewers. Unfortunately no photos of those.<br/><br/>Always good meals and service to match. We definitely going back soon.<br/><br/>29.12.2016. I came back here for a friend's over due catchup. It had recently been renovated so was sad to see all the plates were no longer on the walls. We had done a special one last year for a friend. Nonetheless we had a great afternoon. Service was quick. We ordered the Meze Platter to share which was delicious and the highlight for me was the Beetroot and Feta Salad served with Micro Herbs, Walnuts and a Vinaigrette dressing absolutely superb I would have never thought of that combo.
Jimmy Nicolaou
We were at Platia for our office Christmas function with over 65 people so it's a bit difficult to rate this place properly on that. But, judging from the comments from everyone, all the food was very good. <br/>Our meal choices ranged from Ribs, Chicken, Rump steak, Oxtail, Prawns and a Vegetarian option as well. <br/>The owner and waiters went the extra mile to ensure we were well taken care of. They decorated the tables and arranged Greek dancers as entertainment as well as traditional plate breaking. <br/>All in all a pleasant day, and will definitely try them again. <br/>
Lauren Christie
The decor of the place was lovely - really felt Mediterranean. My mom and I split the veg meze platter for one as a starter - while lacking slightly in presentation it was still delicious! My mom then had the large sole which was tender and tasty and very large (they weren't kidding on the menu). My dad had the rump steak which was done to perfection. I had the Moussaka which was also lovely, perfect balance of flavours,. We didn't have too much in terms of drinks and it worked out to around R200 a head. Very good value for money. Our waiter Hewitt was also wonderful =) Thanks for a lovely afternoon meal
Lungile Dlokweni
I like this restaurant a lot, it has a great vibe, the entertainment is always, well, entertaining and the food is always great. Me and my family love celebrating special occasions here. Worth giving it a try.

Went for dinner last night at Platia. What a nice place to go to. Large menu excellent service and food was good. Must visit restaurant glad we went.
Luis
Truly fantastic. Food was great and authentic and the owner was very accommodating, even when we were the last ones to leave. He even went as far as mixed up a couple of menu items so we could try all the the fantastic Greek flavors. Service was incredible too, they certainly have an experienced crew.
Eleni
I have only been here once due to it being a little far out of my way.  But I must say, the ambient vibe here really made me feel as if I was back home in Greece.  I went to Platia with my parents and my boyfriend (who is of Taiwanese origin and had no idea how fun and crazy Greeks are!). We had a Veg Platter for 2 to share as well as the standard Meze platter. We also ordered three dips: tzatziki, skordalia and hummus. The food was divine, as expected! The only issue I had (but it's more due to me being Greek and knowing my breads) is that we got plain normal store-bought buns that lacked that quality of what Greeks regard as good quality bread. But once again, that is more of a cultural preference than anything. <br/><br/>Other than the food being incredible, we were treated to a wonderful show of a belly dancer as well as the opportunity to break plates! Needless to say, it was a wonderful experience.
Danie Almeida
I'm not the biggest fan of Greek food, I'm more of a Creamy Pasta Alfredo kind of girl. But if i'm going to have Greek food, I'm going to go here. The food in very tasty, but it's the experience that brings me back. On some nights, the restaurant has a belly dancer moving through the tables and pulling people to dance, which I LOVE. They also bring out clay plates for you to through around, which never gets old. You can expect lots of fun when you are here, though sometimes the music is a bit loud.
Wayne Hsu
When we first walk in there is no waiters or host to be seen, that's not normal. I have been here three times, this is the first time where no one is showing the table. So we have ordered Horlick and tea, first of all what's the teapot without the lid? Second of all, I have tasted better Horlick. The food is average however the prawns are quite fresh.
Sachagil
Service was good and starters were average. Son ordered prawns which tasted like Fish! I had oxtail which was average and my wife had the Leg of lamb which is supposed to be a house speciality. It was boiled in a stew. Not the way it should be done. Will I be back... Properly not.
Shireen Botha
Meze starter platter was very good and well recommended. Waitor was very plesant. Though portions could be a little more generous. Will definitely have to return to try more of the menu.
Clinton Els
Certainly not the best Greek food I have had. Snails and muscles seems to have been reheated and served with old stale bread. The Meze platter had some winners on it (Calamari and tzatziki) although overall a disappointment. Wine list is limited and waiter staff not really attentive. Unfortunately not a restaurant I will return too.
VisZA
Platia at emperors is a great example of the franchise and is well run and managed , there is often a very loud Greek manager around making sure everything is in check <br/><br/>The food tastes fantastic however not ever visiting Greece i would not be able to comment on how authentic it is <br/><br/>I sampled the pita and dip platter , which consisted of the typical sides of tzatziki, skordalia , taramosalata and hummus , all were very flavorsome tasted as if they were made in house and well enjoyed<br/><br/>for mains i tried the traditional Greek dish of a lamb kleftiko , if i had to find criticism with it i would say a little less garlic and a little less fat would have made for the perfect lamb kleftiko, but overall a fantastic hearty dish<br/><br/>service, ambiance and the experience on a whole was great and recommended if visiting Emperors.
Annie Schmidt
Wow what a total disaster. Our Year-end function is a disaster. People are very unhappy, 4 hours before we got our main meal. The steak I ordered was raw. Some people eat while others wait. You order a drink and then they say we will bring you change.... Yeah right. So not worth the money we had to pay. People are leaving and no one had dessert yet. We arrived at 12 noon. It is 4:30 and everyone finally got their main meal now.
Neil Ronaldson
Very nice meal we go there often, just one question we ordered boneless chicken and got given a whole chicken bones and all??? It was very nice but not what we were expecting
Gita Pather
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant.... again ....since I had forgotten that we had eaten there previously. Having travelled and eaten the most beautiful food in Greece, I have a deep love for the simple tastes of Greek food: lemon, thyme, oregano, garlic. They have mastered the art of simplicity embodied in a simple Greek salad .... Thick green virgin olive oil lightly coating thick crisp slices of tomato, lettuce, onion and cucumber... fat calamata olives and dense slightly tart feta cheese.<br/><br/>Now that I have demonstrated my love for Greek food... Did I love Platia? No but I didn't hate it and I could so have done that since its ensconced within a casino that is masquerading as Ancient Greece! My waiter was Malawian with the most lovely smile and absolutely on the ball.<br/><br/>And... the food was pretty decent too. I also liked the decor... Calm blue and white with hints of grey. And they have a smoking section!
