Review Billy G - Johannesburg

Yonela Mcibo
The food was amazing, OMG, I’d go there again and again. The atmosphere is also on point only they can have a table for 2-3-4 down stairs as well. Also give people an option to pay online when making a reservation because wow, the standing in the queue isn't nice. Otherwise, everything is on point.

Am giving 5 stars to food , service and atmosphere as it was so awesome and very welcoming the food also was giving exquisite taste, I like the idea that they never run out of food. You name it you get,it was my first time eating 🍣🍣 sushi though it gave me a funny taste at first but otherwise I enjoyed it toooo😋. Refill after refill, The set-up is also nice I liked it , well presented 🏆 ,the drinks are hyhigh,😉 If you wanna indulge in different types of exquisite meals the BILLY G gat you 👊. definitely ll come again🎖️🎖️🏅🥇🏆

Food tasted delicious, although some of the desert they didn't make enough even for 20 people. There are plenty of seats and can accommodate a lot of people. I waited 30 minutes on checking in,but the atmosphere inside compensated for that. Great value for money.

Great place to take a family out. Their online booking system is efficient and works very well. Received lovely service from all the people who served us, from Momo at the front desk, Maria who welcomed us in and ushered us to our table and Livingstone who attended to us while we sat down. There's great variety of food on offer while here with lovely dessert treats for the little ones. Pensioners get a discount and kids under 12 dine for R130. Children 0 to 1 year and those celebrating a birthday on the day, eat for free. I highly recommend this Billy G outlet and would definitely dine again some time in the future.

This is a decent dining option. The restaurant offers a buffet-style dining experience with a variety of dishes to choose from. The food is generally good, but it might not necessarily stand out as exceptional. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly, making it suitable for a relaxed meal. While the service is usually satisfactory, it can be inconsistent at times. The pricing is reasonable for an all-you-can-eat buffet, but it's not the most budget-friendly option. Overall, Billy G is an average choice for those looking for a buffet restaurant, but it may not leave a lasting impression compared to some other dining options.

The food was so delicious... The tripe omw deliciousness... Will be coming back for more

Very nice setup, plenty space You can eat as much as you can Good variety of meat, but not on fish, birthday guys get in free but must come with his friends or family Definitely value for money Nice experience

The servers at billy G monte casino are so sweet and friendly, the service is as good as can be expected considering that they're always packed to the brim. They've packaged the food efficiently to accommodate the pandemic, dishing up is a little more difficult that way but much safer.
Cheks Mila
Loved the food wow the chef knows their story The staff were friendly, dine in superb
Tamara Martins
Asides from the queue on Saturdays, it's a very jolly atmosphere and there's usually that very good food that makes you keep going back for more.
Refilwe Setou
The food, very tasty. The staff has so much patience as we took out our matriculants, you can imagine the noise and the demand for service. They served us with patience and ❤ 😍

Really nice Food is really good the ice cream made me throw up though waiters were a bit slow because they were very busy but overall really nice

I do not recommend. Had a horrible experience. Had a reservation for lunch. People bump and lean over you to get their share if food and dont wait their turn . Shocking service from the waitress. Had to get up and call her every time we wanted to order some drinks. Paid in cash and she walks off and then claimed we did not pay. What the heck????? Lucky for us there was a witness at our table
Bhekinkosi Nxumalo
Beautiful atmosphere. Went there for the 31st of Dec. The lights were nice and the waiter was friendly.

We went for the buffet. Food was poor, tasteless, quite a disapointment.<br/>We had to order drinks over and over again as waiters would forget<br/>Maybe popular, maybe for the quantity, certainly not the quality

Went to the restaurant on Sunday evening for dinner. To my dissappointment , alot of the dishes were empty and when asked the staff at the buffet area if they would be refilling i was told &#039;NO&quot; they are not going too.&nbsp; The little that i ate was delicious but however not worth the R210 per person that we paid.&nbsp; If we were told that the food was finished we could have found another place to eat at instead of paying R210 per person when most of the food was finished.

Breakdown of this rating was as follows:<br/>Breakfast : 3/5 - the food and service was pretty decent during that time<br/>Dinner reservations: -1/5 - I didn't even get the chance to try out the buffet due to the shocking reservation service I experienced. We tried phoning the numbers provided but no one answered ( yes, they were just as bad phoning the municipalities for queries). When we asked the front of house on which number to phone, they were clueless and couldn't help us ( probably because they were not trained by management). Seriously, I had seen better service from Emperors Palace and even small buffet restaurants. This is a shocking place with shocking organisation skills.<br/><br/>Since the dinner reservation debacle, we had finally got through to the buffet. The dinner was pretty decent and similar to the breakfast buffet. There is quite a good variety and the quality was pretty decent. Service wise, it was pretty standard.

What a DUMP.<br/><br/>Go there if you want Diarrhea. <br/><br/>Oh, and pay R210 for it. <br/><br/>The selection of food is a disgrace, the service is the worste ive ever had. The waiters look like they rolled in drit<br/><br/>My cousin literally went to go throw up in the bathroom after eating here.<br/><br/>I will never Ever EVER eat there again.
Floyd Perry
Well I am not a fan of buffet but my friends seemed to have enjoyed everything there. The place looks beautiful and the food looked kinda god as well. I did not eat anything and the stuff was very helpful and friendly. The place is kinda noisy though
Ashen
The food was not good, I think the malva pudding was the only thing worth eating. It was just a waste of time. The staff were friendly and the restaurant looks good, but thats as far as the good things go.
Wayne Hsu
The food is ok. This is a buffet, not a 5 stars cuisine. The place is noisy due to the family and friends gathering, you would expect a lot of noises. The sushi is not bad and the deserts are excellent. The staff are also not bad, they are not the most friendly bunch but they are quick and quite efficient. Again, this is buffet don’t expect 5 stars cuisine and services.
Ursula Van Rooyen
Horrible, horrible, horrible. The food is tasteless and aweful. The food looks like slop. Everything I tried was worse than the thing before. I have never given a restaurant 1 but this one is just terrible The service is shockingly bad. I will never go back.

Having been to the restaurant before the experience this past Friday on the 4th May was highly disappointing, the food has deteriorated and is quiet tasteless, the buffet leaves a lot to be desired. The price has increased but the selection to choose from is actually quiet bad. From starters to desert , its pathetic to say the least. And having been my husband birthday dinner, its not worth the time having gone there. Their seafood is non existent, Just some Hake, and calamari, which was soggy and spongy and even my niece who is still a child said their beef stir fry was awful. We told the waitress the food is really not good and she disappeared for the night, and didn't see to us again until  it was time for the drinks bill to be brought. Very bad food and service,
Hazel Moyo
the place is pretty disappointing to be honest. I've been there a couple of times and the standard just kept dropping time after time. there is no longer that much variety and the ice cream was just horrible.
Chioma Asomugha
Famous for their great buffet and terrible service. The food was good, I appreciated the wide range of food. It was all delicious except the sushi was terrible. The service here is horrendous, we had 2 waiters and they were both so impatient and had attitude. We booked a table and they were unapologetic in them not being able to cater for our booking. The cutlery was dirty, the plates and glasses too. Waiters gave us nasty looks for no particular reason. Please Billy G staff, improve on manners and courtesy. This place has so much great potential because of the food but the staff is unprofessional and rude. If the staff was good I would have rated 4/5 but they ruined it so I’m left to rate 1/5.
Dhlamini357
Food is amazing and I always enjoy myself when I am at Billy G, workers are so loving and polite, willing to assist you no matter what. Great work guys keep it up😊 ..... see you soon 😎

Having been here before I was thoroughly disappointed to find that the quality of the food had dropped and the variety was much to be desired. I managed to stomach some creamed Spinach which was the only tasty thing I could find. Our kids aren't fussy eaters but even they didn't enjoy their meals.<br/><br/>What was disappointing the most was that it was my birthday celebration and none of us had a good time. We left within an hour, never to return again.
Bianca
Food was amazing, normally buffet food is not so great but i was really surprised. I know that they make amazing prawns and was upset that there was no prawns for dinner. Service was good and waitress very friendly, all and all a good experience
Lucy Wu
The place is extremely packed and noisy! There's close to no vegan food options available and finding vegetarian foods is also a mission. The best looking dishes is probably dessert, however none are vegan friendly. I would not recommend coming if you have strict dietary requirements or if you want a peaceful meal out
FatCake101
Very average place, not many options for vegetarians which was a let down. The pasta was quite soggy meaning it was over cooked. The red velvet cake was very dry. Overall not satisfied at all. There are many aspects to improve on but the vibe was great.
Breds Mail
So everyone is entitled to their opinion but i don't get the negative reviews. This place is good, the food, the atmosphere....<br/>We booked a table upstairs (for miscalculated reasons) and on that day it was not busy so it was breathable. They kept on changing foods during dinner, removing, replacing, some of them we didn't have because the brought them out later in the evening and we were already full (which is the negative half star rating). But i would go back whenever i can. Keep it up
Lebogang Pitswe
Needs more staff. The service is terrible. The waiters are not attentive, their attitude and they seem impatient. The spaces between tables is a bit too tight for people to move around. They need to refill salads and other dishes quicker. As well as clearing tables and cleaning the food counters. The dessert station needs a bit of faster service.
Pawan
When ever I want eat some mix kind of food so I choose this restaurant. Food is ok but it's mild which is not really good for me but I asked waiter to give me some chopped chilli which he delivered.now they stop serving the prawns 🍤 which is one disappointment.i will think next time if I want mix food.

Great food and atmosphere..I love billy g's... wouldn't mind going there every now and then..their deserts are out of this world😍😍😍😍😂😂😂😂

If I could give this restaurant a zero star rating I would. No drinks menu-in which then anything can be charged apparently juice these days costs R100.? Anyways food is very average and mussels tasted like sea water. Waitress and manager rude beyond explanation when questioned on basic charges. I do not think it is appropriate to be so condescending to your customer when be posed with a question. Shocking!
Aluwani Raswiswi
A bit too loud, foods good not great. Glassware and crockery weren’t clean. Ordered a beer which was not cold. Overall not too disappointing but expected more.
Thato1982
I was here for the Monday to Thursday buffet spacial of R100.<br/>With the restaurant being a buffet venue, I felt that they have a wide variety of dishes to cater for all dietary needs.<br/>They have dishes ranging from sushi, pizza to fish and chips. The service from waitering staff is good taking into consideration the type of venue this is and the volumes of patrons it can accomodate.
Dheena7
Does not cater for non pork eaters, staff overwhelmed. Trying to get your food is a bun fight. Breakfast very disappointing. Many Indian clients are not catered for their dietary requirements, what about halal <br/>
Andrea Schoeman
I was actually quite disappointed with the food at Billy G. It was below average and not enjoyable at all. The service was even worse. The waiter never came to check on our table, we had to call them for beverages. The atmosphere was very rushed and just put our whole table on edge.
Morné Strydom
Great value for money buffet (remember your montecasino card) - quite in the week so no long queues to dish up & decent variety. Perfect for office parties & big eaters..
Vanessa Jone
Well, it's affordable, nice environment, but some foods weren't that good , like The ribs weren't ribs , they have the best dessert thou.<br/><br/>Raymond is very rude by the way

Had a wonderful evening with friends. Got there 5min before they open for buffet at 6 and we were among the first ppl to be assisted. Very nice place and clean. The waiters were so kind and always helpful. And the food was just awesome from starter we went for for a variety of salad sushi and everything was just enjoyable. For the main we had all the food and twas tasty. Then the desert also very refreshing. Then they brought up the cake and sang for the birthday boy on our table. Thank you Billy G and keep up the good work.

Pretty awful place. We booked but arrived to no availability, then a table was quickly set up against a wall near where people walk, so my chair was constantly bumped by other patrons. Some of the food was okay, some actually tasty, most savoury tasted of salt and lacked legitimate flavour though. After waiting in queue at the buffet area a lot lot of the food had already run out, and when it was all topped up again, and we went back to see what we'd missed, the plates and food utensils were too hot to touch with no serviette or help in sight. Service for drinks and the bill was generally crap. There were 15 minute stints where not one waiter was in sight. I've been to the one at Silverstar and it was a much more pleasant experience. I think we'll not bother here, again.

If i could give it a ZERO rate i would.the WORST restaraunt ever, im disappointed for days. First of all i made a booking on a friday for Sunday, called on Saturday to confirm my booking. When we got there we had to wait in a que for more than an hour for them to open. When they finally opened to my suprise was told my name was not there on the list..upon confronting the manager RAYMOMD, He snapped back at us as if it was our fault that our booking wasnt noted! He was the most un professional person i have ever met, to the point and our horror that he even started shouting at us instead of rectifying the situation. After we threatened to leave thats when he forcebly/unwillingly gave us a table.<br/>Talk about the food, it was so substandard that we even regrated why we had even bothered. When again the 'manager' RAYMOND was doing rounds on tables, he in plain site with no shame went on all the tables asking if they are fine, except ours!<br/>To summarise BILLY G is a crap eatery, the food is bad, the stuff is even worse. Tsogo sun should really consider replacing that restaraunt ASAP!!!!!
Calvin Chetty
The food is average... some items were really tasty while the other stuff was just ok. I saw kids touching the food, tasting and throwing it back into the pile... the chefs should be watching whats happening upfront and the parents should watch their kids... will definitely go back

End of year and someone nominated Billy G as the place to go to. Must admit I usually avoid buffet places like the plague and after reading the reviews on Zomato I started to dread the date with destiny. Let look at the positives, its a nice venue, clean and the decor is rathet nice. The salads at the starter bar was nice, i went for the caprese salad, the mozzarella was soft and creamy but the basel pesto was seriously lacking in flavour. The highlight of starters was these little samosas filled with cheese, absolute bundles of gooey, oozy cheese wrapped in perfectly crispy pastry. Unfortunately this was the only highlight of this dining experience. I went for the sweet and sour pork stir fry, i am still flabbergasted at to how one can dry out pork in a sauce based dish and the sauce was sickening sweet, the fish goujons had a funky taste as well, after this I called it quits to live another day. Will not be comming back.

Food was good, enjoyed the variety, meats were cooked well especially seafood section. Starters weren't to great especially the sushi. Service was very bad, it took ages to flag down a waiter and then even ordering a glass of water was a mission. Dessert was excellent. Well presented and delicious. It would be nice if they placed instrumental music or something to drone out the noise of large groups and cutlery banging on plates. It's good place to try, once is enough unless there's a special again.

Yes! Yes! Yes! <br/>Was kind of worried when the organizing committee for our year end function told us we were going to a buffet place 🙄 but boy was I pleasantly surprised by the whole experience 🙆🏾<br/>The food was AMAZEBALLS! Sushi was fresh and so well made and their ribs were to die for 😭<br/>And I'm not even gonna talk about the dessert, I'm just gonna go back very soon to have some more 😁<br/><br/>Don't sit upstairs if you're gonna have a couple of drinks-those treks up and down to the main food stations might get tricky 🙈
Rollo
Nice warm family-orientated setting. The sushi and desserts are pretty decent for a buffet restaurant. Large variety of salads and excellent pizza. The mains are average at best.  Good overall experience and value.

It was date night and I really wanted to go the unconventional route. I knew Billy G would be just the place to switch things up a bit. I mean how romantic is a buffet restaurant, right?<br/><br/>You immediately notice that it is a family friendly restaurant. Most tables had no less than eight people smiling and laughing away. Besides that, the highlight was that a man sitting at the table next to us proposed to his girlfriend. That instantly put the whole restaurant in a rather jolly mood!<br/><br/>Once you settle in, you take your place in a rather long queue and survey the awaiting feast. They have anything and everything you could possibly think of. I particularly enjoyed their sushi and their desserts. No matter your preference, I guarantee they will have something for you.<br/><br/>In terms of the service, that could use a bit more work. It takes the waitrons forever to come to your table and take your drinks order. The servers at the buffet are rather slow, but are at least friendly. The chef that makes the sushi is the exception. He prepared the sushi at a brisk pace and was overly attentive.<br/><br/>Overall, Billy G is value for money and possesses a warm atmosphere. It was quite the experience, but I think we will have a conventional date night next time!

I'm not a fan of a buffet, but my 11 year old daughter had never been to a buffet, so twisted my arm into going to Billy G this past Sunday. WHAT A MISTAKE! I have literally never had such disgusting food in my life! And it's not even cheap - for the almost R200 pp that I paid, I know of some really decent places we could have gone to. When I say bad - I don't mean bland or average, I mean it was so bad that my daughter and I spent the whole afternoon contending with nausea, combined with binge eating to try get the rank taste of the Billy G food out of our mouths (bearing in mind that we only had a few mouthfuls of food before leaving anyway)! I honestly cannot comprehend how this place is still in business!!! If you're thinking of going here...DON'T - you'll be better off going to the 'fish and chip' shop on the corner - and pay a fraction of the price too!!!
Roelia Schoeman
I am in general not a fan of buffet restaurants, so maybe I am a little bias.  There is good variety, but the food in general is very average tasting and looking, I enjoyed the starters, but the mains weren't very exciting, the meat dishes (roasts) were quite dry. If you don't like super sweet cocktail mixes and beer, the drink options are a bit limited The service was also quite average.  So in general, a very average experience.

Walked into the restaurant at Billy G Monte casino , on the 16.10.2016  to be welcomed by a rude manager , is this how you treat people ? Claiming we had not made a reservation and we are late without checking the reservation list , screaming at the top of his voice. Im disgusted ...The food was awesome , but waiters its like they were reluctant to serve customers , Never again !!!!

Last night I had the opportunity to try out the famous buffet with a friend of mine. I thought the food options were nice and wide as I like to try out as many dishes as I can. However, I felt that the food needed some refreshing. After a while when the food has sat there for a while some of it tends to thicken or dry out specifically food such as mac and cheese, lasagne and the like. I found that most of the food on my plate was thick and dry. Also, most of it was much too salty. I couldn't finish it. <br/><br/>Nevertheless, the chefs were friendly as well as the waiters however, I had a bit to say about the overall look and feel of the resturant. It could do with some table cloths, maybe a candle or two on the table, some music perhaps and maybe a picture here and there on the walls. Without those things the resturant seemed very plain, very uninteresting and sort of discouraged my friend and I from staying longer as the atmosphere was just bland save for the conversations in the air.

I have never had a meal off the menu and only ever indulged in the buffet. All the buffet food was delicious, again today - minus the eggs which tasted a little soapy. Pleasantly surprised at the livers and mushrooms. When dining buffet-style you don't get interact with the wait staff very much, but those who I did speak to were lovely, pleasant and efficient.
Neil Neilt Thurston
Wow... It's just amazing that every time I go here it gets worse. I remember when it was Tuscans, the food was amazing. This will be my last for sure. The waiters are so useless and the beer and soda drinks where warm.
Irani Beni
Firstly, no prawns and calamari. An utter disappointment. Maybe we should have walked out immediately after finding this out. What BillyG calls lamb chops are lumps of fat with very little meat. The mutton curry has real 'curry mutton' ie lots of fat with very little meat here also. We ordered beers which was served 'warm'. How can one serve beer that has not been in the refrigerator long enough? Eventually an ice buck on the table worked.<br/><br/>I have to ask the following:<br/><br/>Is this restaurant under new management?<br/><br/>Has the restaurant changed its strategy to serve cheaper food, no doubt about this, at an exorbitant cost ?7<br/><br/>The free birthday meal is not applicable anymore ! <br/><br/>My advise....Please do not visit this restaurant!
Reshigan Moodley
Standards have dropped so significantly. The famous prawns that was the attraction to this restaurant has been removed from the menu. The rest of the food looked like it had been out for hours and was all dried up. Pizza slices were hard and nobody bothered to replenish it once it was finished. Chips were also finished. Strawberry mousse was hard like it had been prepared days before. All in all I got the impression that a lot of the food was not freshly prepared, had been out for a long time, and the variety has been drastically reduced. Won't be going back for sure.
Amy Lara Baxter
The buffet is very reasonably priced, however not something we would rush back to and have. <br/><br/>The sushi and prawns were very good, and did impress me for buffet style food. The selection of food is very good and there is something for everyone. <br/><br/>One thing I want to point out, is to never order their cocktails- they are absolutely disgusting. I have no idea what they put in it or if it is premixed but really do yourself a favour and not order any of them.
Heidi Bantam
A cost effective option for big groups with a constant stream of punters coming and going. The buffet area is laid out well but I thought the tables were slightly too close together. The food I had was above average with plenty of options including sushi. The wine list is limited but it seemed like they have everything else plus cocktails. Service was really good. The bathrooms are upstairs - quite a climb - but that's how I discovered the upstairs area. It seemed quite spacious compared to downstairs. Anyway, it was an above average experience overall.
Sumeshnee Bachan
The food is always excellent, whether you choose the buffet or order off the menu. Service is good, nothing out of the ordinary. It's a great place to go to in a group because of the variety.
Bhav
Had the buffet breakfast here this morning at the newly renovated Billy G. Place looks very nice. The buffet had a wide variety of dishes. There was even vegetarian options. Food was hot and fresh. Staff were helpful and friendly. Waiters were also efficient in cleaning tables. Overall, it was a good breakfast.
Johannapillay7
Hi, yesterday was my husbands birthday. We always come here for special days and we always have a good experience. Yesterday was horrible! The food was just disgusting! So disappointing! I'm not sure if they changed chefs but the menu changed and the quality of food definitely changed. We definitely wont be going to Billy G again.
Yasmin
I aurally don't enjoy buffet restaurants. But this one was a huge success. Been to Billy G twice and enjoyed both times a lot! They have a very good variety and all very fresh and tasty.
Jenny Zhang
Manager Raymond is extremely rude and should not be doing customer services. He said " I dont want these people here" in front of us. Apparently you cannot use loyalty card discount with any of the other discount for the entire table, so we had 2 pensioners who wants to use their pensioners discount, and the rest of the 7 guests cannot get normal loyalty point. To prove a point to us, ramond refuse to put the 2 pensioners on their own table. Besides that is not how it works. Drinks services are terrible as well, took 30mins to get 1 round of drinks. Not recommended for company functions, you will land up embarrassing yourself with the level of service.
DebbyGP
If I could give it a zero I would. Or a 0.5 at best. Don't come here. Just don't. Came here with a group and it seemed there was a mix up with the booking. Eventually got seated upstairs where there were already two large crowds. The food, while plenty variety, was an array of unappetizing, overly salty, mass produced mess. I understand this is a buffet, but I've seen much better. The patrons were probably the worst part of it - people threw chicken bones onto the floor and were changing their kids clothes in the restaurant. I can see the waitresses try, but that doesn't make up for the 3 cockroaches i saw crawling on the dessert station. Never again.
Natalie Jayne Benic
Well it's year end function time and my unit decided to treat us to this restaurant. Ok, so it's a buffet restaurant, toughen up and just enjoy! Firstly they completely messed up our booking time, we booked three months in advance for a dinner at 5pm and they had us down for lunch at 12pm. We arrived promptly at 5pm, only to be told that the restaurant opens at 6pm! This could have been told to us when we booked and when we later confirmed! Anyway, we arrived and the waitress took about 45mins to take our drinks order. My mojito was basically sugar water. The food was ok, cold, but ok. The vegetables were tasty, but again cold. Dessert was mediocre. The selections looked well presented, but it's a buffet one can only expect so much. Our seating was terrible, tables in amongst massive pillars we made it nearly impossible to maneuver in and out. Ag no we won't be back.
Karen
Visited for the buffet dinner this past weekend and the food was outstanding. There was a huge variety from seafood, sushi, pastas, curries and roasts. The dessert was by far the most disappointing aspect. The waitrons were excellent in timeously clearing away old dishes etc. Great service. The managers however should've implemented some crowd control as there was a very large and rowdy group of people who were causing quite a racket and ruining the ambience for other diners. Overall food was excellent. Service was good. But a very very noisy restaurant which is a little off putting.
Chiedza Mandimika
Food was amazing and hot. A great place to got to if you are a meat and seafood lover. Desserts not the best and can be improved. Cocktails are deliciously and fresh. Good place to chill.

The food was amazing and the waiters were very efficient - Well done!!!!!👍<br/>Our waiter ensured that our drinks were always replenished and that our dishes were removed as well as new cutlery was provided.....<br/>The prawns were succulent and quite big.....<br/>All food including the sushi was awesome. The mutton curry needed an Indian touch but I avoided that nonetheless. <br/>Keep up the good work....<br/>If it's your birthday you eat free...that's pretty great...,,
Roxy Bruinenberg
Not impressed at all! First off we walk in through the entrance, there were tons of waitors around and not one greeted us nor helped, we finally got a table that was squashed with a whole bunch of other tables, they had a buffet which is my honest opinion has very few options and everything had no appeal to it, the sushi I tried almost tasted dry and I'm pretty sure the ginger they used had been left out for a few days prior. The people serving you at the table were unfriendly and didn't even greet us. For what you pay and what you receive is not on the same level, needless to say I will never go there again and I wouldn't advise anyone to try it either.

I went to Billy G with my boyfriend for date night. We were enjoying our date and our R98 bottle of wine. When we asked for the bill, our bottle was R180 all of a sudden.... crazy I tell you.... Wat a way to ruin our special night.... The food was great tho.
Kelly Labuschagne
Came here for date night on a Monday, prawns had just came off the grill, service was good only thing missing was better dessert options. Overall I would definitely go back.

Tacky buffets really aren't my thing, I don't think any authentic foodie approves of these... But what kind of casino is complete without an all you can eat buffet?!?! Where else are the degenerate gamblers and fat families from out of town supposed to go for a good time?!?! Go easy on the carbs fellas, that's how they make their margins :P
Darryn Sunny Pennings
The food is great. Enjoy the ranger but maybe service can be focused on a little bit?... <br/>Also a little bit pricy<br/>A good experience though and will come back
Pia Bhattacharya
My husband n i visited the restaurant on Valentines Day n my experience was only average. Extremely inefficient waiters as the place is over crowded. We had to wait almost 25 mins before we got a place for two! The food was above average with a wide spread of salads n meat. Dessert was limited! Go only on Saturday nights perhaps to get a better choice of menu.
Tatenda Brenda Marodza
The food was nice and all types of food were available. I made a reservation via phone but when I got there they said they had no reservation for me which was annoying. However the sat us upstairs and their cocktails were out of stock on a friday night?. Everything else seemed okay.
Deran Dabideen
Went here with my wife and daughter last week. On arrival paying and seating was efficient and since I made a reservation in advance I got a nice casino seat. The food was excellent, I was quite impressed, and there was always sufficient food available even with high demand items like Prawns etc. The roast chicken was superb and I was pleasantly surprised with what an excellent variety there was. For a person that doesn't eat beef or pork there was still more than enough variety to keep me happy. The waiter was friendly and efficient. All round a fantastic dinner. The only complain I have is the lack of Wi-Fi. I'm really disappointed even though I understand why a buffet restaurant would prefer not to have Wi-Fi I still think they should have the facility. It's essential to any restaurant these days and I for one would go back much more often if there was Wi-Fi available, preferably unlimited Wi-Fi.

My company had our year end function at Billy G.<br/><br/>The booking process was quite painless and they accommodate our specific table seating location without any fuss.<br/><br/>The food served was suitable for the value that we are paying.  Although, I feel that the food served is inconsistent.  Different batches of the calamari tasted different.<br/><br/>I have had previously been to this restaurant but didn't review it.<br/><br/>In my previous visits, I remembered that the prawns served was the bigger ones but the ones that we got yesterday were rather on the small side.  But were nevertheless one of the more consistently tasting food on the buffet line.<br/><br/>The sushi served was very average but do not expect any salmon sushi.<br/><br/>The food in general tasted mostly very bland.  <br/><br/>The dessert station was very popular with everyone especially the soft-serve ice cream machine.  The cakes and pudding tasted not too bad.<br/><br/>The service was top-notch though despite the huge amount of diners.  It was very prompt and service was friendly.  Drinks order were dispensed quickly and dirty plates were cleared promptly.<br/><br/>If just want a "eat all you can" buffet with food that is pretty average but at a  reasonable price, this would be the place to go to.

Awesome buffet. Wide selection of food to choose from. I didn't even get to go through all the food because I was full. Enjoyed the prawns and ribs and the bean salad.<br/>Dessert was good too. Had freshly made waffles and icecream . Also had malva pudding custard.<br/><br/>Great for family outing or group hang out. It gets quite full here. Our waiter wasn't so good, but there was a guy whom i don't think is a waiter, but he waited on us, got us seating as well. We had not booked , but he managed to squeeze us in.<br/><br/>Overall , lovely experience here. Had the kind of food I like.<br/><br/>

On arrival we were early so waited outside till the doors opened at 18h00. You pay as you enter and what we didn't know is that if its your birthday you don't pay for your meal so we only landed up paying for one! My food was on the house :-) A nice surprise indeed.<br/><br/>First impressions were great and staff we welcoming and friendly from the moment you enter however on closer inspection the decor was a little tired and I feel that torn fabric on chairs etc should be replaced.<br/><br/>The food was lovely and there was a large variety to choose from...even Crocodile!!!<br/><br/>I had sushi....then I had the lamb curry with some garlic potatoes and green beans...followed by calamari and prawns...the prawns were delicious!!!!<br/><br/>My partner had pretty much the same although he had a lot more he also tried the lasagne and the herring.<br/><br/>I had dessert and this is the only area I found a little disappointing. They are in little plastic bowls and didnt appear to be freshly made but rather had been in the fridge a day or so. I stand to be corrected. I feel this area can be paid a little bit more attention.<br/><br/>Otherwise I had a lovely birthday evening and we will gladly return.

On Wednesday 8th May 2014 I called Billy G’s at Monte and spoke to Tyler about making a lunch booking for Mother’s Day. I especially asked if there was a special buffet or anything special happening and he said no, it is the normal buffet. So he asked for a time and I said 12:30 table for 3.<br/><br/>On Sunday 11th May 2014, Mother’s Day traffic was quite bad outside Monte and at 12:3- we were just getting into the parking. I called and spoke to Tyler and advise that we were running 10 minutes late, he said no problem.<br/><br/>We rush through Monte to the restaurant only to find the doors closed! And outside is Mavrick with a clipboard in front of a huge sign that says next seating 14:00. So I explain to him we are here for a 1230 booking and he goes on to explain since it Mother’s Day there are 2 seating’s at 11am and then at 2. The food that was brought out for the 11am lunch seating is being cleared away in the next 15 minutes so he cannot help us.<br/><br/>Clearly shocked by this I told his my conversations with Tyler, who Mavrick confirmed should have known the set up for Mother’s Day as he was also part of management! He could do nothing to salvage the Mother’s Day lunch I booked unless I wanted to wait till 2pm!<br/><br/>Thanks Tyler and Mavrick for absolutely nothing! Tyler as a manager did not even come to the front when we were confronted with the closed restaurant by Mavrick. He clearly does not care about the business or his customers. I am truly disappointed that a restaurant in popular Monte Casino that we frequent so often, could have this pathetic attitude.

Do not trust this place. I made reservations almost a month early. And it was for my mums 50th birthday dinner. I was told by bonnie at reservations that we will get a 20% discount etc. And on the day when I contacted them to confirm my booking I was told there will be no discount due to it being a holiday. This is ridiculous esp from a place like this. After all my plans was made all our friends were invited etc they do this. I even have email proof from Billy G that I am getting the discount on this day etc. Just watch out if ever you decide to trust this place.

One of the worst restaurants I’ve had the displeasure of dining at! How this restaurant is permitted to trade from Monte is beyond me! The food is disgusting - my daughter and I literally felt ill the minute we started eating it! Horrible, horrible - stay away if you knew what’s good for you!

Best buffet dinner ever, you will surely not be disappointed!

By far not my favourite restaurant at Montecasino. When I go out I quite like to be taken care of and looked after by the waiters and waitresses. In this case, you just get up and slap a load of food on your plate and you're off. I literally had to almost fight one guy off the prawns because he was taking all of them - I'm a big fan of prawns. The food isn't superb but if you're really hungry it's not a bad place to go. I generally manage to eat pretty big portions but even in this case I struggled to find the value for money. I don't think I will go again, because the food is served buffet style it's not piping hot by the time you get to your table after having lifted 5 lids, tried not to drop the serving spoon in the bowl and fought with someone over prawns. Overall it wasn't terrible but I won't go back.
