This was my first experience of the Col Cacchio franchise so I didn't know what to expect but boy was I not disappointed. We were a family of 5 so we ordered a variety of pizzas and incredibly we enjoyed them all. I think this is probably the closest you will get to a genuinely good Italian pizza. The wood fired pizza were crisp and I really enjoyed the thin dough with the hint of burned edges. The waiters were pretty friendly and the restaurant has lovely ambiance although it was a bit noisy on the night we went, (teenagers party) but I guess it is expected in a family restaurant.
Overall great food and it is now my favorite pizza restaurant. I can't say which is my favorite pizza, so I guess I will have to go back till I find my favorite
I'm a Col'Cacchios fan and this one didn't disappoint on the first sampling. Great service as per brand norm. This time tried the current "celebrity chef challenge" special by one Nadia Jaftha. Didn't know who she was before the meal but I'm an instant fan of her work! The "Jou Ma Sala" pizza was inspired. Somewhat similar to my Col'Cacchios staple, the ever-satisfying Moghul, this was, can it be true (?!), even better.
I hope you can still get it when you're reading this. If not, there is always the Moghul...or many, many other delicious offerings. Those pizza bases are crispy perfection... and the flavour pairings unique, thoughtful and inventive deliciousness. I'm a fan.
PS. The apple tart was also very good. A unique combination of what appears to be a puffy pizza dough and tart shredded apple, with ice-cream, is truly lovely (its taste is belied by its rather plain looks!).
PPS. Never imagined a good dessert would be a PS to a meal but that just goes to show you....
I’d been hearing about Col’Cacchio’s food for years but had never eaten there – because there were no halaal stores. A few months ago, the Atholl branch became halaal. I went there with my family. The store is now certified by SANHA and is Muslim-run and managed. It is located on the first floor of the Blubird Shopping Centre, near Melrose Arch. I had always thought that the store mainly sold pizzas but I was surprised to see a lot more on the menu. Between us, we tried out the focaccia and chicken livers starters, the Tagliata Sirloin steak, the Chicken Milanese, and of course, the pizzas. There were so many tempting flavours to taste that it was difficult to choose a flavor. Fortunately, there’s a half and half option available, so I chose a half Moghul (butter chicken) and half Nacho Libre (jerk spiced chicken, sour cream, home-made guacamole, tomato chilli salsa). We also had a Margherita, my son’s standard pizza choice. Desserts were chocolate brownies and cheesecake and there was a selection of mocktails and milkshakes. All the food was excellent, the spicing just right, and the textures perfect. The service from Sibongile, our waitress, was some of the best restaurant service I’d ever experienced and the manager, Rizwan, was friendly and hands-on. Col’Cacchios is definitely going to become one of our new favourite restaurants in #Johannesburg. If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favour and go there.
Pizza and pastas are delicious with chocolate milkshake. Service is good and nice people who serve and very nice location and I want to come back.
Halaal friendly owned Col cacchio that recently became Halaal. Food was good but not the greatest as the pizza dough was slightly under and not crispy. The food also got served a tad bit late after waiting a while and it was cold. The best brownies were served up at this restaurant though and our waiter Blessing was friendly indeed. Hopefully will try to dine here again.
Everything was great. Ordered margerita, moghul which is an indian style that had butter chicken and fried onion ,inferno which is the prawn one ,the jamaican jerk had a jerk seasoned chicken with guacamole and a drizzle of a white sauce pizza-these were the pizza choices we decided on after reading through the menu items and it was the waiter"s the recommendation too .the picture is an oriental salad. Didnt get to take pics of pizzas
Col'cacchio absolutely divine. Best Pizza, best pasta 😋😋😋 Love that they have a kids menu. Kids are given pizza dough to roll and a few cutters which gets baked for them to eat. Then given colors to color on brown paper which is set ontop of the table cloth. We ordered a kiddies pasta with only cream and cheese. My daughter only eats it that way.
Hubby and I ordered the moghul which is a butter chicken pizza and other half was a nacho libre. For pasta we had the cielo. Our new foodie spot.
I love col'cacchio's pizzas and this specific branch is my favourite. We're often here and have never been disappointed. They use good quality ingredients and have wheat & gluten free options. The service is excellent too.

I often came here before I became vegan, it was always good.
Now that I'm vegan, I've tried many vegan alternatives to pizza but it's all been utter trash. But col'cacchio's vegan pizzas are the bee's knees! Even if I dropped veganism, I'd smash these pizzas all day long. It's tasty and perfect. And it makes for excellent leftover pizza.
Aaand then there's the vegan dessert. Lemme not get started, but just know that it's the bomb diggity.
Only wish they had soy/almond milk options for coffee.
Love the pizza and love the location. I wish they delivered to Killarney. I order over the phone and have to collect...mission and a half. Alas I never have issues with my meal nor the service. Although they should be more proactive with packing avocado separately for customers who do take away. It's considerate.
I got the most delicious pizza from this Col'Cacchios. Super generous with the toppings and really speedy for me to pick up the pizza as a takeaway. I walked in to place my order and the waiter was super friendly as was the manager. I had a voucher to use and they helped me work out how to use it etc... The restaurant was very empty at weekday lunch time, and I walk past here quite regularly at lunchtime during the week. It's pretty dead. But great if you want a takeaway delicious pizza.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this Col'Cacchio branch. The food and service were both really great. We ordered the Romagnola and The Moghul. The bases were thin and crispy and both pizza contained an ample amount of toppings. Keen on visiting again.
The Banting pizzas at Col' Cacchio are really brilliant. My personal favorite is the Nacho Libre. The Banting pizzas even come with a side salad.
Pizza is always brilliant quality and staff are friendly and welcoming.
I order regularly for collection and am never disappointed - highly recommended!
Probably the best chain pizza restaurant in South Africa. The quality of ingredients and the combination of flavours enhance your tasting experience.
I absolutely love their salads, especially the brioso! This vegetarian salad is wonderful. Their pastas are top notch as well. Even though I am not a pizza eater, the few slices I have had up to now, have been amazingly tasteful (especially the moghul - butter chicken on a pizza, yes please!!)
This particular restaurant in Birnam has a perfect location at the Blu Bird center. The restaurant is always busy (a good sign) and plenty of families are ever present.
The waiters are extremely friendly and helpful. The managers are always there to assist and ensure that everything is running smoothly.
We frequently have take aways from here as well.
So if you are looking for good food, great service and a relaxed vibe, this is the place!!
The food was really outstanding today.
Came here for Father's Day and they exceeded my expectations
Will def be returning here.
Had the morituri pizza
Was brilliant
Always a good choice whether taking away or sitting down. Staff are always friendly, and you can order sushi from the Restuarant next door which is great if you are undecided.
We've been wanting to try out some of the restaurants at Blu Bird for a while and opted for Col Cacchios for a late dinner after work. I ordered the Hawaiian inspired pizza with extra avo and my partner had the pulled beef gnocchi. Although our food took a while, it was worth the wait. The pizza base was crispy with delicious flavour and the gnocchi was some of the best I've ever had. This was complemented by the tender beef. Once the centre renovations upstairs are complete, I'm sure the restaurant will be even more of a hit amongst patrons
Very poor service when under pressure. It's still the same Col'Cacchio taste that you know and love with a butter taste of disappointment at the end. Rad location nonetheless with a great menu.
Loved the vibe in the family restaurant Col'Cacchio's pizzeria in the little Blu Bird shopping centre. I don't have kids but it was so cute to see the kids get given dough to make their own pizzas:)
The pizzas are crisp and light with an abundance of toppings. 👍🏻
Had really good service, the lady was very friendly and the manager very accommodating. Seated us away from noisy kids! Had a very delicious pizza, did not have to wait long for our food either :)
Laid back family friendly pizza joint. Don't expect Pizza Express but it's def not dodgy.
Usually busy with a decent vibe. If you're a kid hater maybe not for you - but then you can phone ahead for takeaways.
Service is good. The manager is present and active which counts.
They do Banting pizzas which is a win and differentiator. Earned my custom ( though they're not inexpensive.
Overall; I like for what it is.
One of the better upmarket pizza franchises in South Africa. The Blu Bird outlet has been my most frequented Col Cacchio. The pizzas are delicious and they accommodate customers on the LCHF diet. If you're a pizza fan then the Nacho Libre is a winner and traditional spaghetti meatballs is my go to on the pasta side.
Incredible service: great food that radiates with freshness! Our waiter was so sweet and informative and really added to the homely environment.
This restuarant has a nice spot in BluBird and their pizza is not bad at all. The ingredients they use is fresh from the salads to the pizza and pasta. This franchise has a wide selection of salads that include a vegies ranging from quinoa, beetroot, artichokes, butternut to other great options that makes it a vegi delight.
What is a nice touch is the their half and half offer where you can choose two of your favourite pizzas to have on one pizza. It is a pity we do not see more of this at other restaurants.
As a franchise their food is quite consistant and of a very good standard. The service however is sometimes an issue when waiting on food but overall they run a good show here and are quite accommodating.
As always this restaurant never disappoints. I went to Col'caccios on Sunday evening with my family and we were treated very well. The service was great and for a group of 10 people the food did not take long to arrive. The various pizzas we ordered were delicious, however I was introduced to new Pizza called the Mogul, with Chicken Tikka, yogurt, caramelised onions and coriander, my initial thought was that these ingredients would never work on a pizza, but 2 slices later I thoroughly enjoyed the pizza and enjoyed every bit. The Prawn pasta was also a hit for me.

Ive been there a few times and we normally get company lunch from there as the service and quality is great... Generally. My latest experience was having a carpe fungi. We asked for gluten free, and unfortunately they made it on normal base. So we waited for one we wanted to come out and they lost some ingredients in the kitchen. We had to call the waiter for an explanation, he never explained anything to us. So the service lacked that day, especially since I had to get to work. But the pizza, eventually, was good.
We're regulars and for a good reason. The food is consistently great whether it be the amazing pizzas or anything else I've tried for that matter. A special mention needs to be made of Lucky - a fantastic waiter and one of the other reasons we keep coming back. "Just gooi."
Reallyy enjoyed this place, homely and exquisite painting on the wall.
I love how we can order half pizzas, it's a real treat.
My favourite classic magaretia, mushroom and feta did not disappoint.
Cocktails were well mixed and devine to sip on all evening.
Loved this #HiddenGem 😃
Very good service waitress was very friendly and accommodating... We were even allowed to order a little sushi starter from next door. The pizza we had was mouth watering definitely a favorite (half and half nacho libra and bacon Avo feta.
It was absolutely lovely sitting in the afternoon winter sun shine, on the wooden deck with a glass of wine. Had a lovely Sunday afternoon
Really enjoy this branch of Col'cacchio. Always experience great service and consistently delicious pizzas. There's ample variety, with half n half very economical. Best part it's kiddy friendly....my girl loves drawing to her hearts content on the table paper n making her own pizzas. Not a fan of their pastas or desserts....but I only go there for pizzas!
2 minds about this place. Service was not so great but they do an amazing Eaton mess meringue dessert. That was the highlight. We opted for the vegetarian pizza. It was average. nothing wow or amazing about it the pizza. lots of families visiting and a nice tip is the bread dough and colours to keep the kids entertained.
This place sways between good and bad service but it's tolerable because the food has always been great and they are super with my young nephews. They do a pizza with salad in the middle, which is a must try. The Banting menu helps with options to eat out for the clean eating lifestyle
They have recently introduced a banting pizza on the menu. It was excellent and highly recommended for anyone who is banting. Overall good service and happy place.
I ate lunch here today and sat outside. Was a lovely setting. Our waiter, Lucky, was very helpful and friendly and knew the menu. I had the caesar salad with chicken and it was very tasty and the portion size was quite generous.
The family rescue place ! We have sat and taken take-aways here for past 2 years. Good is great, staff friendly and efficient, and never lets you down !

Still my BEST place for pizza! Light bases with delicious, fresh toppings. And, if you are in the mood for something healthier, the salads are amazing too. Service is also always good.
Went to Col' Cacchio as part of our year-end function and one thing can be said for them, they are consistently provide delicious pizza that stands out from other Pizza franchises. What Col' Cacchio offers that most other franchises offer is fresh ingredients and food that doesn't make you feel like you are eating "junk food".
As it was part of a year-end function we were unable to choose from a menu but instead we were provided with a wide variety of pizzas and pastas on our table – which I loved as I got to try a bit of everything. Every pizza, pasta and salad I had was great and kept going back for me.
The only disappointment was the dessert offered as part of the events menu. It was simply just puff pastry deep fried then sprinkled with some icing sugar. Everyone around the table was sorely disappointed.
Keen for some delicious Italian food in Joburg? Visit Col'Cacchio in the BluBird Shopping Centre, you won't be disappointed.
Having heard that the Col’Cacchio in Blubird is open again after a change in management and renovations, we decided to give it a try.
Surprisingly for a Saturday night, the place was not too busy and we were seated straight away.
Pizzas here don’t have your standard boring toppings. They are more creative, and definitely more tasty. For example, how about a Pizza with Matured Cheddar, roasted Garlic Chips, Beef Biltong, Peppadew™ Piquanté Peppers, Avo, drizzled with a Rocket infusion. You can also build your own pizza!
What’s even better is that for people who’s bodies don’t agree much with wheat or gluten, but still want some pizza or pasta, can order the Gluten Free, Wheat Free option.
Col’Cacchio always run various in store promotions. As we came to find out from a flyer on the table, during the month of September, if you register for their new loyalty program, you receive R20 off your meal & an additional R5 off a Peroni Draft. The waiter also explained that every time from now on when we spend more then R220, we will receive more vouchers. Pretty clever loyalty program if you ask me.

I went to this Col' Cacchio for a birthday party. The restaurant wasn't really that busy for a Saturday night. The atmosphere was still buzzing and overall it added to the enjoyment of the evening.
The decor is interesting and there is a lot of paintings on the wall which adds some character. I like the table layout and how they decorate their tables. I felt very relaxed at the restaurant.
We had some pizza. The pizza wasn't that great and I was rather disappointed by the food.
The service was excellent and our waiter did a really good job!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant as it has a nice atmosphere and is unpretentious and one can really relax and enjoy an evening with friends!
I like Col'Cacchio's in any location, but the service at the BluBird Shopping Centre is outstanding. I brought my 3 year old son, and the waiter went out of his way to bring us crayons, a glass of water with no ice and a straw, and even a snack while we waited for our take-away pizzas. These are the kinds of details that really ensure my loyalty to a company. Thank you, Col'Cacchio!
