Review Europa Food Emporium (killarney) - Johannesburg

Had a last minute breakfast function. Europa accommodates the party of 30 with excellent service and food. We were allowed to add flowers and napkins to our table to give it a more personal touch. Wheelchair friendly. Guests were all satisfied with their orders. It was a leisurely morning and although full not promoted to leave

Wow! What a great experience. Faultless. Great food and service. Halaal as well.

Nice menu selection with lots of variety options. The burgers are quite big and pretty good.

The vegetarian benedict is one of the best things I have ever eaten. The food is always great and the staff friendly.

The best halaal food in Killarney mall, I had the Alfredo fettuccine which was absolutely Devine, good food food service I would recommend it any day.

Had brunch here on Sunday. The menu is dense and very well laid out explaining exactly what each dish contains. So much variety. The food is exquisite. Very hospitable staff and the owner was considerate enough to screen off a table for us as some women were observing purdah. Definitely recommended.

I ordered 2 pastas via ubereats just prior to the lockdown. Because I'm quite close to the restaurant, the food arrived in record time! It was still piping hot actually! The pasta was deliciously decadent and creamy and the chicken was cooked perfectly with little crispy edges. However, it lacked seasoning so came across as really bland until I seasoned it myself.

Lovely place.
Pizza is great, just pick the right one.

Try the montanara pasta i think. Its the one with macon and chicken in the cream and tomato sauce.
Does not dissapoint.

Decor is clean and fresh.
Service was slow.
Fruit cocktail smoothie was not drinkable
Ordered chicken and it took 25 min to arrive COLD :-0
We sent it back and 15 min later it came burnt !!!
Shocking !!!!
No wonder it's always empty,

The food at Europa Killarney is pretty average, but alright nonetheless :)... Nothing to write home about, but a nice little lunch or breakfast if you're in the mall. It is also halaal, which means that bacon is replaced with macon if you wish to order something that usually contains bacon. Would be back to visit when hungry at Killarney mall.

Load-shedding had an impact but Centre generators kicked in thankfully. Food was well prepared and fresh. Loved the breakfast of egg and Macon with grilled tomato. Chococino was good.

Fake Italian -- claims to offer "la vita Italiana". Instead it is run by a Muslim. There is no bacon with dishes that require bacon, and no alcohol is served. If I go to Italian, I want Italian, not sharia! Shame on you for lying to us!

good seating. Pizzas was really good, thin crispy base. Had the pasta which is served in BIG portions. Haloumi was very tasty. had a variety of hot drinks, theres something for everyone. the Pitcher of lemon and cucumber ice tea was DELICIOUS, would definitely get that again.
the cheesecake was Terrible, left 3/4 of it. its also a huge portion which is expensive. what a waste. others enjoyed the chocolate brownie - which is very cocoaish , heavy and dense. 1 tea spoon of that was more than enough for me. We took a fruit salad, which was nothing more than a junky bowl of a few roughly cut fruits. Theres much space for improvements. all in all a good try . will go back for pizzas!

The food is really good and is served in a big portion. I love their chicken schnitzel and their chicken strips as well. The chilli mayo sauce that comes with it is just the best!
The staff's attitude here isnt the best but nevertheless i had a good meal here

Today I went for lunch at Europa with a colleague.
The environment was very quiet, not too full like it usually gets.

Service was absolutely great, staff were friendly and the manager came around to ask how we are treated etc.
I ordered a Rocco Wrap which is Macon, chicken, lettuce, rosa tomatoes, cream cheese and avocado with a side of roast vegetables.
Let's start with the roast veggies, well they were roast veggies nothing special they were just good. I think a bit over cooked because I like my veggies tk still have a crunch in them but they were seasoned well.
The wrap was dry. They did not put in the cream cheese as per the description of the wrap. Had to ask the waiters to make a plan for me because I had a dry throat because of the wrap. But they sorted it out immediately with no hassle and handed me a small dish with the cream cheese.

My colleague ordered a pasta with calamari and squid heads wow wow that pasta looked and smelt delicious! The taste wow it's great! I think it could do with a bit more sauce but it's great and the portion size is very healthy.

Had the absolute worst experience! My partner and I had a waiter with a terrible attitude who dragged her feet when serving us. She got our order wrong and we had to wait ages before getting our food. Other tables that ordered after us got served before us. The mocktails were awful. By the time our food came, our mood was spoilt and we ended up paying, getting a takeaway and leaving. Definitely not going back there.

The restaurant has been done up and I like they new look. Waiters were very friendly and efficient and the food was better than expected with generous portions. Better than some of the other Europa branches

Everything here was delicious and it's a little different from what I am used to, it's a perfect place for that get together with family and if you want to have a burger why not? Foacacia, pizza - desserts ( I'm in love) mocktails!!!!!

If I could give a 0 I would! Most disgusting meal. Food was not as described on the menu. Dirty tea cups, shocking service and was left feeling ill. A disgrace to the Europa brand.

Had my all time favorite, the Benedict.
Eggs were done just right and they don't minge on the hollandaise sauce like other places do.
Will definitely recommend this to any classic benedict lover.

Awful experience!!! We ordered a pizza and the dough was raw, sent it back and it was still raw. No apologies, very poor customer service. Will never eat here again.

Great service at this Europa branch in Killarney Mall. Very attentive waitstaff who were very friendly. I ordered the spinach and ricotta panzerotti which was delicious. The creamy sauce is very creamy and the portion is on the large size - so you are definitely getting good value for money!

This is the best Europa I've visited. The food is always delicious, I've never been disappointed. Since the change of ownership the standard has improved tremendously! Their burgers and pizzas are especially good . I have to disagree with the other reviewers with their criticism of the service, food quality and cleanliness, the service is generally good, quality is the best I've experienced at any Europe and the place is spotless. I love the food here.

Was looking so forward to eating here, menu looks divine, but what a let down. Food was so bland, (ordered a sweet chillinaise open sandwich and tramezzini). No spice and tasted quite fishy yet it was supposed to be chicken.
YUM
Europa Killarney unfortunately proves why poor service can bitter the taste of an otherwise alright meal. The food here really isn't bad, sometimes it's even quite good but the service is always, always poor. From a manager who spoke to me while texting on his phone to not being ready for service at the opening time 8:00am, a little more care needs to be taken in how you approach your customers. I had the rustic hash breakfast which was pleasantly well-made, however, my pouched-egg turned out to be hard rather than the medium I had request. Of the three eggs ordered medium on our table, only one was which is a real disappointment. My latte lacked distinct layers - really not a great way to start my day! The pizza is worth a try though, it's quite a hit!

POOR / BAD SERVICE -- WAITED ALMOST 2 HRS FOR OUR FOOD
TERRIBLE FOOD AND HIGHLY OVERPRICED
MANAGEMENT LACK CUSTOMER SKILLS
OVERALL A VERY SAD PLACE !!!

The owner tried to pass off ciabatta. As per the pictures it is a roll. They charged R85 for this.
Service was good and quick
Not value for money. Woolworths is better

Third time eating here. I've fallen in love with the food. It's an exquisite breakfast. Try the macon and brie burger. It's divine. The portion are big so go with a hunger. Value for money.

I'm quite a fan of Europa for a quick lunch or breakfast. The food is always good and the service efficient. However I always find this one a bit dark and I'm not too fond of having a meal in the middle of a shopping mall - therefore I prefer the other branches for a more scenic experience.

I wanted to have Sunday dinner but the restaurant was closed. The Sunday trading hours seem to be a bit ridiculous.
People are keen to try out the new Halaal 1 but definitely at times that are suitable to us.
Consider extending trading hours to suit customers?
Came past for a quick breakfast, I have enjoyed the brand Europa for many years, this visit to Europa Killarney being my first I was highly disappointed , I ordered the Benedict and asked for my egg to be hard, the first half was fine, the second part of portion was basically a raw egg? , the staff are laid back, management does not attend to the patrons? At the time there were not many tables, myself from the same industry I can see that this branch of Europa lack drive and service. The discount on my meal is appreciated, but does not make up for the lack of interest regarding the attention to detail regarding patrons attendance.

Came to try it since the new halaal takeover, so far it's disgusting - filthy floors (including dead flies) tables and chairs - cream on top of my cappuccino is sour - still here waiting 10min already for the next one. Will not be returning. Please learn from Europa Melrose Arch!

I went to this Europa for a friends 23rd birthday and since we were the only customers the service was really good.

I ordered a Polpette pasta which was not bad. I was slightly disappointed with the beef meatballs. I dont usually order meat pastas which is why I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Good service and food is not bad.

I like the restaurant. The pasta and pizza is the nicest food there. You get to choose the portion and the waitresses are very nice and polite . I would happily go again.

Since it's based in a mall, you do get to do a lot of people watching if you have an outside table. The staff are friendly and the service is normally good.

Like with other good coffee shops, Europa has a range of sweet and savoury options. Of their sweet options, their red velvet cake is outstanding. Off the savoury menu, I've had a napoletana pasta which was fine, it lacked a little in flavour. Their salads on the other had are delicious and quite big.

What sets this establishment apart from most other restaurants is the completely on-hands involvement of the manager: Always vigilant, spots new arrivals as soon as they sit down, and assures that all clientele are served speedily and efficiently, circulates and chats to everyone. It's really impressive. The menu is extensive with clear indications as to what's new and also what the (many) vegetarian options are. Portions are extremely generous!! Definitely my preferred eating option in Killarney Mall.

Nothing that draws me to the restaurant other than convenience and their carrot cake is very good. A cake and coffee shop.

I visit perhaps once a week. Not sure if it is under new management, but while the waitress is friendly and pleasant, I detest listening to the manager, an older man, think his name is Trevor, shouting. It makes visiting unpleasant.

So, take a seat as far from the back of the restaurant as possible. The carrot cake is worth it.

Normal Europa fare. Hearty and fresh Italian-esque dishes.... Good service. Food a bit heavy to my liking. Good breakfast. Great salads!!!!!
@

There's nothing wrong with this restaurant, but nothing particularly exciting about it either. If you're needing a place to stop for a quick snack while you're in the middle of a big shopping trip, you can't really go wrong with Europa. The menu is vast, offering a wide range of pizzas and pastas and sandwiches, as well as bigger, meatier meals. It opens early enough for breakfast, and there are a number of breakfast options, from pastries and croissants to eggy dishes. Service is friendly.

Living in Killarney, the Europa is the perfect place for a quick meal or a meeting.

Its general quiet which lets you have a conversation without screaming at the person across the table from you.

The service is always great and staff always willing to adapt a meal according to how you want. On one occasion, my friend had ordered a gnocchi with a specific sauce instead of the custom menu and the manager came by to make sure the order was done to specification.

I enjoy the AVO-ROCK which is a creamy pasta with avocado, goat's milk feta cheese and rockets sprinkled with some crunchy almonds. Priced at R70 it will fill you up and you will have some for lunch the next day.

Try the cakes if you looking to cheat your diet, they worth it.

What sets this Cafe Europa apart from its cousins is the management and service. The staff are SO attentive and friendly, and after my second visit they greeted me by name and remembered my order. I had several chats with the managers and found them outstanding in terms of personal engagement. Well done, Europa!

The menu is the same from franchise to franchise, so the benefits of the Killarney Europa are that it is indoors (so not as chilly and breezy as the Rosebank one can be), and it's relatively quiet, so a good place to have a meeting with a client.

I do like their Saigon salad with beef strips. Otherwise I'm usually satisfied with their espressos, although sometimes tempted by the cheesecake. If you ask politely, you can get an extra-large slice.
