Very good ambience and exotic taste

If you order from here as take-away / Uber Eats they will send you smaller portions than the ones they serve in the restaurant. I do not recommend.

Tiny hole in the wall. It was an experience I can only describe as average. The service was ok, the food was ok, nothing overly spectacular... however avoid the non-vegetarian mixed platter... not because it’s bad, but because it’s served on a slice of cabbage leaf on an extremely hot cast iron dish... so hot it burned the leaf and smelled like burned newspaper. Overall it was reasonably priced dinner, the garlic naan was excellent but the four pieces of tandoori chicken wasn’t cooked as well as I would have liked. The tandoori chops on the other hand were overcooked.

Had the chicken briyani...it was really nice and tasty. Rice was fresh and they were appropriately generous with the chicken. I would recommend it for anyone wanting authentic Indian briyani

Lovely restaurant larger good service has lovely atmosphere and the staff try hard. Pizza are large with heaps of ingredients but realy taste bland - avoid the pizza. The foods is entry level and you go here if you want low average food. A pity as the venue is great !

The taste of food that was served was excellent and the ambience was perfect. A must visit restaurant. Service is very good. The lamb dishes are extraordinary .

Fantastic food. Best we have had for a long time. Peshwari naan to die for. Onion bahji great. Extensive menu so opted for half portions on 4 veg dishes as well as a butter chichen. all superb. Service also great. Only thing letting the place down is ambience and location....

After eating here in person a few times, I started ordering in through Über Eats. My firm favourites (most of the lamb dishes) are still as good!

This is a solid neighborhood curry joint. We popped in for an early Sunday dinner, and had a lovely meal. Hot chicken tikka for me, lamb korma for Brian. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food was good. Sadly there was no Indian beer, but Miller’s did the trick! While we were there they were doing a roaring trade in take aways, so they’re obviously well supported. I’ll be back.

Came on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Halaal friendly. 2 waitresses. One was clearly interested the other - Charity, gave really excellent service. Ordered Tikka chicken and butter chicken both medium. Tikka was nice juicy and flavorful. The butter chicken was slightly spicy but not overly sweet as some other reviews would say. Decor is pleasant and functional with a nice statement wall. Would go back for the Tikka.

Pappadums or more like Pappadon'ts?

We started our evening with some drinks and a plate of veg samosas to share. They were quite tasty, but one of them were filled with some form of dried seeds and spices that made it very dry and coarse to eat. The mains for the evening was a bowl of Lamb Rogan Josh and a bowl of Butter Chicken. Both of them were nice and spicy which we enjoyed, especially the lamb dish, but the Butter Chicken was very sweet. The first bite was actually pleasant, but the more we ate the sweeter it got, up to a point where it actually felt like we were having some form of dessert.

We always like to ask our waiters for their recommendations of what to order, and sometimes we are pleasantly surprised with their advice. But having the waiter tell you everything is good or that they don't know what dish goes with or that they don't know what is the most popular dish is a bit of a letdown. It felt as if our waiter didn't want to be there, obviously it is just a job for her, but being in the hospitality industry does expect a certain amount of friendliness from you in our opinion.

The atmosphere was an interesting one. The restaurant is nicely decorated with wallpaper and each table is properly set with a coloured tablecloth, flowers, and candles, but the lights were bright fluorescent bulbs that made you feel as if you were sitting in the office. Very bright and mood killing.

For the amount of food that we received, which was a lot of rice and not so much curry, and the odd flavour that came with the chicken dish, we were not very happy. Pair that with what felt like reluctant service and an atmosphere to invite office workers, Pappadums doesn't have a lot going for each bang for the buck.

TTT’s rating out of 5: Food - 2.5 | Service - 2.5 | Atmosphere – 2.5 | Value – 3

Pappadums gets an 'Angry Stare' from Two Tasty Tummies

I have eaten here three times - business lunches ... I really enjoyed the paneer tikka masala , dhal and the pepper gobi. I have also tried the papdi chaat previously. Would definitely go back, the food is delicious and perfectly spiced.

Great food and friendly staff..
I recommend butter chicken and dhal makhni one of my favorite Excellent food. Nice decor. Warm and friendly staff.

This restaurant was buzzing yet I received just the desired attention and had one of the best Indian meals in Sandton...

So I went to this little gem of a restaurant for dinner with my family yesterday, after buying their voucher on Hyperli. Well let me just say, it was the best buy ever. The food was amazing, distinct flavors of the different dishes could be savored. I have been to other Indian restaurants, where you order different curry, but it seems all cooked the same way, in the same gravy. We did not have that here. The waitress Shanu, was the sweetest and most efficient server. The restaurant itself, was not very busy, however there was a steady flow of people doing take away orders. They are very reasonably priced and will suit every pocket. For starter we had the Andhera fried chicken, Chicken Samoosa, Chicken lolipop, and some chicken fry thing. Their portion sizes for those starter where quite generous, and we had to take them away in a doggie bag. For mains we had butter chicken, Chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, and lamb rogan gosh. We were not disappointed with our choices. Will i go back ?????? HELL YAH. I am worried, its going to be my new favorite spot.... Seriously though, Pappadums, must be given a try.

Popped in on a very quiet day for a quick lunch to try some vegetarian items on the menu. Tucked in the top corner of the shopping centre is this small but deceiving Indian restaurant which is good value for money.

This place is clean and the service that I received was adequate. It was nice to see Pepper Gobi on the menu which was very tasty and not over spiced. The dhal dish that I ordered was well cooked, creamy, piping hot and well enjoyed with a pappadum!

I will be back in the near future to try some other items on their menu such as their malai kofta as it is not easy finding this item in Joburg.

I had visited the restaurant. I had 1/2 chicken tandoori with naan.chicken was with full of flavour.
I will definitely visit again and again.

Went to Pappadums on 25/07/17.
Had a starter which turned to be deep fried chicken in some red spice. My partner had a different starter which also turned out to be dry red chicken pieces. I would give them a rating of 1.5

My main was the lamb rogan josh which was 3pieces of lamb drenched in sauce. I would give it a 3.

My partner had the lamb korma and he didnt enjoy it. He would give it a 2.

We also tried their kulfi personally its not for me but I cannot falt Pappadums on it.

Hence the overall score of 2.

Had dinner with a bunch of friends, 6 of us. Empty...which isnt always a bad thing. At some point 2 other tables had customers. I'll review the food later. The memorable point of the evening was when the waiter came to us to tell us that the manager says we must keep it down. Why the manager didnt have the decency to tell himself....only his hospitality qualification knows. Anyways, we asked the waiter to tell the manager to come tell us himself. He did. Said other customers were complaining (all 4 other other customers). The confusing part is...how does the owner not justify people talking&enjoying themselves in his restaurant...to then the defend the other table that left their quiet home to come and whisper conversations to each other. At a restaurant. An open public restaurant.

I've never physically been to Pappadums but they are a favourite Uber Eats choice for me. The food is always delicious, well packed and presented warm. The butter chicken is a stand out dish, but even the lamb curries are amazing. Highlight of the week.

I had linch here with a friend. The restaurant was empty but the staff was empty. I enjoyed the assorted badji starter and loved the kadai chicken - the best kadai chicken this summer side of johannesburg. The dessert was ok - we shared the kulfi but was frozen rock solid - the taste was there but it was too hard. I will eat here again if I happen to be in the area.

Good South Indian Vegetarian restaurant available nearby Sandton. We visited this place for a family lunch break, and ordered one of their special South Indian Vegetarian delicious dish “Veg Chettinad” which was excellent with rich creamy sauce, good to go with plain roti and the Vegetable biryani is amazing with subtly flavored spices.

Good Service and friendly staff, with plenty of parking spaces available.

Highly recommend the place.

There is more atmosphere at Home Affairs and the service is generally stale and unfriendly but the food is really good. Uber Eats is a nice plus.

We used to visit the previous Indian restaurant that was in this spot quite often and once it closed down, we never ever went back. We finally decided to give Pappadums a try.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were the only people there, which I found quite surprising as it was on a Saturday night. The only plus side to this was that the service was fast and our food arrived quickly.

We decided to order two dishes to share between us - the butter chicken and the aloo gobi masala. The butter chicken was good but I know I've definitely had better elsewhere. The aloo gobi masala was really delicious, packed full of flavour and definitely something I'd order again. I did find that the garlic naans were a little on the crispy side but they were alright nonetheless.

The previous restaurant was always buzzing so walking into this restaurant and finding it dead was pretty strange. The food was decent and I would probably go back but not in a hurry!

Not bad but not among the best North Indian restaurants in Jhb. Had the veg soups, aloo Gobi, aloo palak and veg schezuan fried rice. Hot is properly nice and hot. Just lacking that something that would take it from good to great.

Visited this restaurant on a Saturday but it was really quite. We ordered butter chicken, aloo gobi masala and garlic naan. As we were the only customers in the restaurant the food arrived quickly. The butter chicken was average, aloo gobi delicious and the garlic naan too crispy. This place has potential but they probably need to market it better and be more consistent with the dishes.

Pappadums is about 1km away from us, but we haven't given it a try before. So feeling for Indian, we decided to go there. The restaurant was empty (we were the only patrons there, and there was 1 other customer there when we left), but non the less we decided to give it a shot. We ordered the butter chicken and aloo (potato) gobi (cauliflower) masala with some garlic naan. The aloo gobi masala was really tasty and flavoursome. The butter chicken was nice, but I have had better at other places.
The food is good, but the lack of traffic might place it at risk of closure.

This is a great place. For a lunch from work.

I personally find it very noisy on weekends especially when all the kids are around.

During the week it a great place. Love the food. They amazing.

Great food

Best north Indian food my family enjoyed in Sandton. I found this restaurant on GROUP ON and it was worth a try. We purchased Mains for TWO @ 119 ZAR and ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Rogan Josh. The gravy was tasty with ample meat .

It was their first anniversary on 16th Aug and it was also our first visit to this cozy Indian restaurant in Gallo Manor. We have to admit that the food was really marvelous and though service was slightly delayed being busy, it was worth waiting for the food. We tried Tandoor and Chettinadu dishes and it was awesome. Even my kids enjoyed it a lot. I would definitely recommend this to people around sandton.

Atmosphere & comfort - average
Food and Service - Superb
This is a tiny restaurant situated inside the mall but the food is something to smile about and so is the service. Ordered Butter Chicken which has a very unique taste. Prices are reasonable and there is an adequate variety to choose from. Wouldn't mind paying another visit. Really enjoyed eating at this place

Ordered take aways tonight. Totally bland and hardly any meat/chicken. The lamb Korma's had 4 pieces of lamb and the butter chicken 5 small pieces of chicken. The sauces were also watery. The only good part is it was still hot as in heat when it arrived home.

Ordered a few dishes yesterday. All were really tasty but the highlight was the prawn madras curry. As a love of prawn curries, the madras curry was a spice explosion on my tastebuds. Look forwards to trying out some of the other prawn options. Well done pappadums

Ordered a take away prawn curry and was highly disappointed to find the prawns in the curry are still in their shells! Prawn curry with the prawns in their shells! Shocking! I had to take out all the prawns from the curry deshell them myself them put them back in the soup curry. That ruined the whole meal for me!

I have had food from this restaurant earlier and it was pretty good, don't know whether it was a special care given that day being a country fellow man.but this time the guy who served me last time was not there and to me the food was below average.the biriyani was too oily and had lot of lemon wedges, and there was no lemon to squeeze for the starter chicken 65,I can really the the inexperience this restaurant have in serving Indian food.A little more effort in kitchen can do better

Genuine North Indian spot. My wife and I dashed in for a late dinner. Food was reply excellent. My wife has the chicken Bryani, which was enormous and delicious. I had the chicken tikka masala - creamy, spicy and rich.
Try it. Very reasonable price for truly excellent food in a mediocre setting.
Ordered a Butter Chicken as a take away today. Awesome. Really tasty and it qualified as "hot" as requested. The chicken was really tender and the gravy super tasty
