Absolutely love the food from Miyako!!! The food is so delicious and the portion size of the chow faan and the Shanghai noodles, which was superb, is great. The portion size of the rice for the chop Suey didn't make sense though, too little rice. But nevertheless, will definitely be back, again and again. Hopefully they get the rice portion right.

There is something to be said about nostalgia. This food makes me miss my 奶奶. I don’t often speak about family online as my late Chinese gran whom I called ‘po-po’ for english pronunciation was my human. She taught me to love good Chinese food and when I found this place close to home, i just fell in love. It’s not high end luxury but it’s good food. If you looking for an excuse not to cook. With a basic Meal at R49, it’s not worth even putting the stove on! I was craving sushi after work the one day and Miyako Sushi is fairly close to where I work so I phoned them, placed my order and went to fetch it. The order was ready within 15 minutes.<br/><br/>It's definitely a great place to try if you aren't looking to break the bank. I ordered the 4 piece prawn California rolls and the 8 piece prawn maki and it came to just under R60. And it was delicious! I will definitely be back.

My second time at Miyako. Just because it’s close to home as well. Really like their fresh sushi. <br/><br/>But I must admit that the biggest flaw with the sushi is that they use so much rice and very little fish. The prices are up to standard and the location is great. <br/><br/>Will recommend it, if you just want to have a quick stop for sushi. But it’s not necessarily the best place if you want to dine with friends.

Driving through Greenside decided to get take away from here, thinking it would be quick. It wasn’t. We waiting almost an hour for sweet and sour chicken, crispy beef and an order of salmon rainbow roll. Was not very impressed by this.<br/><br/>The food was very tasty 😋 enjoyed it, although the serving sizes were small so we weren’t entirely satisfied by the end of it.<br/><br/>Can’t say it’s a write off, but won’t be rushing back.

Dear friends. We arrived for an early dinner and sat outside ( one other table outside busy paying bill) no one inside . It was a lovely evening and without a sushi turn table to sit around inside that's why outside was chosen . Service was non existent and as they got busier it got worse. Took forever from when you ordered the sushi to when you got it. Inside were 2 chefs and a person at the till who seemed to be in charge and then one waitress who just couldn't cope. When the good did arrive it was good but not good enough to compensate for a lack of service. The toilets were not as clean as I would have liked .

Went here with some friends this week and we all really enjoyed our meal. The sushi was fresh and didn't take long to get to us. Amount of fish and avo you get in your sushi is much more generous than most sushi places! Service was friendly. The vibe of the restaurant isn't the greatest and there isn't really much ambience, however you can't go wrong with good sushi and good company!

Had some good sushi here with a few friends, tried the all you can eat buffet for R160. The salmon was fresh and the rice was a good texture and consistency. The nice thing was that they didn't load the sushi up with rice when you order the buffet.

I love there sushi so much! It always tastes fresh, and delicious. Never had a bad experience here. The Chinese food is also really good and tastes healthy. Presentation in restaurant of sushi is gorgeous.

Came here for a quick dinner and it wasn't bad at all. I enjoy the fact that it's away from all the chaos in Greenside. We opted for various sushi options and everything was pleasant. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but also far from the worst. The service is also great, so will definitely come back for reasonably priced sushi.

After reading the good reviews this spot is lately getting we decided to have a take away sushi fest. We ordered more than R300 of sushi and half of it ended up in the bin!!! The sashimi was fresh, so I guess that is the most important, but the yummy rolls (crispy salmon skin) and the prawn tempura rolls was horrific. The oil they fried it in is obviously really really old as it tasted of off greasy fish (husband actually just spat out the prawn tempura as it was so off putting). After having a mouth full of off grease I lost my appetite and stopped eating. The bow ties were also fishy, as if t was fried in the same oil. It was just a really gross experience.

I Love Miyako Sushi! The service is always so friendly and the owners are awesome. I regularly buy their Sushi salmon lunch box , its cheap but really good quality and you get a fair share for the amount you pay. I recommend it for any one who wants to fill their sushi craving.

Miyako is my 'go to' for a fix of sushi. Had lunch there today to celebrate the start of the weekend. Their sushi, as usual, was awesome. Also had some of their dim sum which is also delicious. Their service is quick and the waiters are super friendly. <br/><br/>If you're looking for Sushi at a decent price give this place a visit!

The owners here are super friendly and have never had a bad meal. I love the variety on their menu as well. Their hot plates are really big and not like what you will find at other similar places. Also their new fusion type sushi was delicious!!! Don't forget about a dimsum on the side as well to round off your meal.

Good sushi - it's all generally representative of the type of sushi common around Johannesburg, but the quality is nice and consistent. They seem to cater a wide range of steamed and fried dumpling-style dishes, but I didn't have the chance to try any of that. Friendly staff, the prices were good and the portions were generous.

Miyako Sushi situated in greenside is a fair low priced sushi bar.<br/>Of course it doesn't compare to higher classed places such as Japa.<br/>I personally prefer Yo Sushi in Parktown North or Hashi in Rosebank. <br/>The service was good, and the food mediocre (the fish being a bit pale and lacking flavour), the decor did not appeal at all...I found it quite badly set up.<br/>A nice surprise however was the fried ice cream, it was delectable, the batter thick and crisp.<br/>I had a cappuccino which wouldn't be recommended at a sushi bar and was as expected appalling.<br/>Although overall it wasn't bad I do think there are better options.

My husband and I love Asian food. We ordered takeaways from Miyako Sushi; various dim sum and duck with ginger and spring onion. The dim sum was the worst my husband and I have ever had. The chicken in the dim sum was undercooked (salmonella risk) and the dish was flavourless. The duck was tough and the serving size under-generous. This was our first experience at Miyako and we won't be repeating it. Yuck.

Ended up at Miyako on Friday night after other arrangements fell through. Quite busy outside but we chose to sit inside where it was less busy. We ordered a soup for starter, crispy beef with fried rice and beef chow mein with noodles. We also ordered a big bottle of still water and a bottle of red wine. Service was prompt and the food arrived at the table soon enough. However, the main courses were served before the soup arrived so we cancelled the soup. We were told they made a fresh pot hence the delay. Main courses looked delicious and portions were generous. Tasted great but a word of warning, the crispy beef is spicy. Not unpleasant but was unexpected. Chow mein and noodles didn't disappoint. Biggest surprise of the evening was the bill. We thought they made a mistake but we checked and it was correct. Total R166. Great value for money. We were back on Saturday night. Can't wait for the next visit!

If you are looking for well prepaired and yummy sushi, then I defiantly recommend trying this sushi out. I had crab stick cali rolls, tempura prawn cali rolls and prawn fashion sandwhiches. All were edable and just taste bud satisfying. The cost of what you pay is also well priced to the portions of sushi you get. Not really a sit down resturant for me as I found it not too accomidating, but defiante oder me some sushi and go home to share with your other half.

Super impressed. Quality for money. Prices are very cheap. This is not fine dining by any stretch of the imagination but for casual sushi it's really good quality. Given the prices I expected to be disappointed but it pleasantly impressed. It is a nice place speedy service and will definitely be back as this is now my local sushi hang out.

Have been going to this restaurant since it opened - always good sushi. They are recently under new ownership and management - SUCH an improvement. Definitely more atmosphere and has been busy the last couple of times I have been for a sit down meal. I find the prices very good - you get a lot for what you pay.

The sushi is cheap, great quality and delicious. I go there often and for those really hungry days they have an "all you can eat" special for R140. Recently they have introduced dim sum, I am not the biggest fan of dim sum but i really did enjoy this. they have a wide variety of other options for a great price. <br/><br/>The service is always pretty quick and the owner is always friendly.<br/>The alcohol is also quite well priced!

To be honest I wouldn't really go there for a sit down dinner but their take always are always delicious. <br/><br/>Some favorites include prawn tempura, the salmon sushi lunch box and the beef chow mein. The owners are lovely, always friendly and willing to do anything you ask. <br/><br/>Definitely worth a visit or a midweek takeaway. They're one of the last good restaurants on the strip and I'm happy to support them!

One of my favourite Sunday stopovers to either catch up with friends or just see how much sashimi I can consume. The management and staff are super friendly and always smiling from ear to ear. The menu offers a wide variety of anything from soup, noodles, springrolls & sushi in proper portions at decent prices. We always go back for more.

Hokkaido is my go-to-sushi place. Service is great with super friendly staff and owners. The food doesn't take long, and they have a wide variety on offer from hot food, soups, great springroll starters, omelets and great sushi. Their 'bill mint' is While Rabbit sweets (win!) and their fortune cookies are a nice treat. I've yet to see a super full restaurant, but I presume that most of their money comes from take aways.

Monumental disappointment. Hostess more interested in babysitting. Food now upto scratch, tempura was more batter than filling and needed to hunt for the only mushroom in a mushroom dish. If you are looking for good food go to Chinatown in Cyrildene you will not be disappointed

This is our favourite local sushi takeaway spot and it never fails to deliver the freshest, tastiest sushi! The owner knows us by name and practically orders for us. I really wish that as a regular restaurant it was more busy, but it just doesn't have much of a vibe. That said, I cannot recommend it highly enough for Friday night sushi takeaways!

I always drive past Hokkaido as I live close to Greenside, but I’ve never really had the urge to go in. Finally, I had the opportunity to go there on a girl’s dinner date. The sushi is good, but the atmosphere is lacking. The service is okay, I went there on an empty evening so there was only one waitress. She was very friendly. <br/><br/>The menu is large, but all Chinese/ Japanese menus are quiet large. They offer traditional Chinese dishes. I had the chance to taste some of my friend’s dishes. They had the vegetable Chow Mein, I found it a bit oily and tasteless, but the chicken cashew nut tasted delicious, very flavoursome.<br/><br/>I ordered the salmon platter, it tasted yummy; the fish was very fresh.<br/><br/>All in all a pretty forgettable experience, if you feel like quickly grabbing reasonably priced sushi, Hokkaido is the place to go; but if you’re looking for a vibe I’d suggest going somewhere else.

Spring rolls yum but main very oily which was disappointing as it was tasty - but my hubby couldn't finish his meal because of it - if you like sushi it is well worth it - menu as a whole very reasonably priced.

Taking into consideration that sushi is generally an expensive adventure, Hokkaidos is reasonably priced with expert chefs and professional service, I have eaten the majority of the items on the menu and never once have I been disappointed, I highly recommend the sushi all you can eat special and the crispy prawns with rice:)
