Review Deli One - Johannesburg

Haydn Edwards.
Fantastic food! We had the deli option of choosing salads and proteins and the food was really great. Nice selection and good ingredients. Also not very expensive for the amount of food we got. Would definitely recommend a visit. We will definitely come back.

We usually went straight to the franchise restaurants at Sandton but decided to give the cafe a chance. We will definitely be coming through again. The food was great and we had a fun chat with our waiter afterwards.

Very popular, deli-style café in Sandton City to take a break and refuel after shopping. Had the bacon & onion quiche, delicious pastry, yummy filling. Dreamy main meal was Singaporean steamed fish (sea bass 🥰) with rice, green beans, baby corn, broccoli and braised spinach in a divine broth. Absolutely scrumptious meal, freshly prepared by the chef.

This was the best cuppaccino I had in such a long time. Perfectly made. Some people “burn” the coffee or they make it so strong that you dont even want to finish the cup, but wow, what a smooth taste in my mouth! And their pain au chocolate was fresh and crispy, straight out of the oven. That chocolate is so nicely melted I just wanted to not stop eating. Also had a taste of the pizza. They added just the right amount of salt, because normally I would add extra salt to my pizza, but not to theirs. Absolutely a try in Sandton Mall☕️ thank you for this wonderful deli.

Would like to compliment Deli One (Sandton City, Sandton) on the excellent dishes prepared for us. We had the Butternut Ravioli and Artichoke Pasta and really found them to be outstandingly delicious. Compliments to the Chef!! Would also like to recommend the Tiramisu Ice Coffee which we enjoy there regularly.

A small place in the corner of Sandton City Mall. Delicious quiches, muffins and all types of pizzas. I ate a tasty and creamy spinach and a salman quiche. Freshly squeezed fruit juices and sodas are also available. Acceptable service from a helpfull and friendly staff although Improvement is in need.

Pleasantly surprised by the food! Service was slow and iffy and I saw what looked like the manager speak to the waiter in a very patronising manner but otherwise the food was very good. It was a great experience. I would return.

Great food, great service, staff keep it up, I see the owner is in her shop working very hard. Well done, no way this is a fair rating..... deserves 5 stars excellent fresh food....

Fabulous little place with exquisite food. From tasty nutritious salads to perfectly indulgent quiches. Owner was delightful. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you!

Absolutely delicious, tasty unique quick finger foods and wonderful breads . Thank you for the additional take away freebies - I trust I’ll never pass this cafe again without popping in

I stopped here for something to eat and drink after an strenuous morning trying to buy a new laptop. The waiter who sat me down was a bit arrogant. I ignored it and asked for guidance in ordering something cold to drink. He suggested a strawberry & banana smoothie, that was not listed on the menu. After drinking the smoothie I started wondering when the waiter would take my order for food? Ten minutes later I was still waiting & wondering. Eventually I had to call him by waving to get his attention. Really now?? I ordered a "new" item on the menu but was really annoyed at the waiter and my experience so far. After another 10 mins of waiting for my food, the waiter retuned to say they don't have the ingredients for the avo sandwich I'd ordered. Honestly??? A "new" option but they don't have the ingredients and I had to wait ages to be told this!!! This is the second lousy experience I've had at this restaurant and believe me, there will not be a third one!!!! What a disappointment this restaurant has turned out to be. I see on Zomato that I'm not the only person to have the same complaints and give them a 1 rating!!!

One of the things I miss most about Johannesburg is Deli One Sandton. The carrot cake is to die for. And for the price it is quoted at, you can't find this great deal anywhere else in the world. I wished I had a teleport door to Deli One where I could pop by for lunch from where I am now.
Melissa Losos
great food and great service

Items stated on menu "not available" when ordered. Not Ok

I love the ice teas, I had the jasmine with berries and basil yum...the food is not so bad either
Deshani Naik Govind
Absolutely pathetic service. 30 mins and my order wasnt even placed. Arrived starving. Walked out starving.

Extremely poor service. The meal was very average, terrible cutlery and crockery. Great coffee, it's a pity it took so long to arrive

I think that Deli One has a lot of potential, but they have a lot of sort out. The food is tasty, but service can take a while. We waited for about half an hour for our food, but there was a problem in the kitchen so we don’t blame them. I hope if we come back sometime things will be better.

Situated close to the entrances of Sandton City, Deli One is the first eatery you see so one cannot miss it. They have a very fresh and appetising deli selection and really they are very healthy and light on the stomach (especially if you don't want to have a heavy lunch.)

Fresh bakery smell and fresh food always lures one in! Delicious breakfast and great service. Definitely the better option in Sandton city where everything is made in house.

Their Spanish Open was really good! It has a variety of toppings and it’s really filling. I had an Eggs Benedict. Personally, I am not a fan of the creamy sauce on top of the eggs because it’s a bit too sour for my liking. But other than that, I enjoyed my meal.
KarmaZebra
Deli delicious!!! This is definitely a first class establishment! Everything is super fresh and it is obvious that only the finest ingredients have been used. I love seeing the vibrancy and variety of all the veggies and think this is the perfect food to fuel an afternoon. Everyone was warm & welcoming and allowed us to pick & choose dishes to suit our needs.
I would have liked to see a few more plant based proteins on the menu (maybe some falafel balls?) but managed to grab a pot of hummus out the fridge to dunk my cauli in which was super scrummy!!

Deli One is an interesting Al fresco cafe in Sandton city. The service can be greatly improved. The pain au Chocolat was great tasting. Good cappuccino. Not sure I'd go back considering there's Belle's and Walnut Grove but then again I think Deli One has a niche demographic

I never used to be crazy about this place until last week I walked in and met blossom and she changed my experience forever! She accommodated me and went completely out of her way to make sure I was happy even if it meant bending over backwards! This woman is the reason I come here and the food is simple but delicious!!!

I had lunch there yesterday. The halloumi, roasted butternut and pomegranate salad is to die for. Crisp, crunchy, juicy and a delight on the palate.

Later I had the Egyptian mint tea.

Deli One is situated in the heart of Sandton known as Sandton City. This open plan cafe is surrounded by furnishings and fittings which accentuate the artistic design of this establishment; from the display table peaked with savouries and sweets such as gourmet sandwiches to flat bread pizza and tartlets to the bread shelf for those who want to take a little piece of Deli One home with them. Whenever I visit, I am always impressed with the continuous consistency of the staff members; having to set up tables, chairs and display cases outside of the door which is ever so pleasing to the eye and does wonders to attract customers in

While running around the shops at Sandton City, we felt like something to drink and nibble. The tables at this restaurant are situated half in the pedestrian walkway and half inside the restaurant and looked convenient & interesting.
Its nice and breezy & open sitting at a table in the walkway but it sure does get one starred at by every person walking past.
Our waiter wasn't all that friendly & helpful. Sad, cause it puts an "air" onto the whole experience.
Rather a waitress who wasn't serving us, did a fantastic job double checking on us. She even brought two bowls of extra free strawberries for my daughter. She was great. My gratuity should of gone to her.
I ordered an ice coffee and it was very just ok'ish. In fact I never even finished it. My wife had a strawberry smoothy and enjoyed that more.
For mains I had the lamb unwrapped wrap. The lamb was very chewy but mixed with the humus, wasn't too bad. Again, it wasn't too special at all.
My wife had a Mediterranean wrap and really enjoyed it. Sauce was tasty and delicious.
Overall the experience was very so so, lacking in atmosphere & character and certainly didn't come close to the awesome lunch we had last week at Knead Bakery across the Mandela Square. I won't rush back here in much of a hurry.

11/08/17
I stopped here for something to eat and drink after a strenuous morning trying to buy a new laptop. It was the closest restaurant to where I was.
The waiter who sat me down was a bit arrogant. I ignored it and asked for guidance in ordering something cold to drink. He suggested a strawberry & banana smoothie, that was not listed on the menu.
After drinking the smoothie I started wondering when the waiter would take my order for food? Went there this afternoon for my sister's late birthday lunch. I ordered basil beef and then was told 15 minutes later that it was sold out. And then I had to order another dish just to be told again 10 minutes later that it was also sold out. I subsequently gave the waiter 3 more other dishes as a in case one fails (sold out) then another scenario just once again to be told that all 3 dishes are SOLD OUT!!! What is the likelihood of ordering 5 sold out dishes from a relatively small menu?! We then quickly finished our drinks and asked for the bill. The waiter came with the bill and said that our drinks would have been for free if the manager was there. What a horrible dining experience!

Yummy food. Interesting set up, clean and modern but still approachable and comfy. Staff could be a bit more lively but otherwise they are polite and pleasant.

The food at this deli is amazing if you're tired of eating the same restaurant food all the time. The freshly blended juices (I had carrot, apple, pineapple and ginger) are refreshing and filling. I ordered lamb and hummus. It came with freshly baked bread and olives. It was a snack plate but I ate it as a light meal. It was delicious. The lamb was perfectly done and seasoned. Hummus was delicious, rich, tangy and fresh. The service is a bit slow. And the deli can get crowded as it has a small seating area. Still worth going there.

Waited 15mins for service 😞. Still never tasted the food to rate that. Not sure why they took so long since they seems to have a full staff compliment

So sad about this rating

We have walked past Deli One hundreds of times, and each time we remind ourselves that we have to eat breakfast here one day. Today was that day.

Sadly the place was not as good as it looks outside.

The food was a bit pricey for what we got. We ordered a salmon benedict brioche and it was tasty but they gave like a half loaf of brioche bread, so most of this dish was just a big piece of bread, that's it. We also ordered the corn fritter breakfast that comes with guacamole and sun-dried tomatoes, this dish was completely flavourless and we only got a teaspoon of guac and 2 sun-dried tomatoes. TWO!

The service was okay. I asked him to come to us because I wanted to order a coffee to go, the coffee was delicious, but he came to us with the bill, and told us he couldn't get us a coffee to go and that we had to go to the counter. This was not true because the table next to us got coffees to go.

The atmosphere is fine I guess, in Sandton City so quite busy. We really do love the whole idea of a deli and cafe in one.

Deli One gets a fist bump from Two Tasty Tummies

One of my favourite delis. The food is always fresh and I have yet to be disappointed by one of their amazing almond croissants (the savory option with feta is just as delicious!). Always great service and a wide selection of light eats - despite being in such a busy mall it's a beautiful place to grab a lunch and coffee for a time-out during your shopping. I admire anyone able to leave without buying a take away from their deli as well!

Finally tried this cute little deli! I had scrambled eggs with multi seed toast that I enjoyed. The cappuccino was up to a good standard. My friend asked for a quiche which wasn't baked yet and then asked for the granola option which was also unavailable.. other than that it was enjoyable.

Deli one is one of my fav spots - however it's often very very busy. I've had a variety of drinks from their menus and it's always presented in nice big wine glasses (for a healthy green drink). The attached picture is of an ice coffee that i thoroughly enjoyed. The salads are very unique and made with fresh ingredients . The only downside is that it is a very small space that they operate in, ( which is also a shop for those who wants to buy things) so sometimes it feels cramped.

Good food, mediocre service

Went there for breakfast and ordered fresh juice and omega 3 omelette. Both juice and omelette were fresh and delicious. But the service was very slow and inattentive. Would go there again to try other foods in the menu which is very small. But good location for a quick bite

Apr 17: We have passed by this place multiple times and finally decided to have a bite. The interiors is white based and looks very nice and easy on the eyes. One part of the restaurant is selling food stuff and also a place to view the kind of food they serve. The other part is the place to sit. We ordered the veg salad which was the normal veggies but the dressing tasted good. The mediterranean wrap was a complete disaster as my wife didnt like it. Basically, the tzatziki sauce was the culprit. She didn't like it at all. The Quiche was okay. The thing with this place is that if you eat there the same food is expensive as compared to doing a take away. Not a place that i would recommeded but this could be a good place to do a take away for their salads.

This is my favorite breakfast stop without failure I order the Brie, bacon and caramelized onion croissant YUM! The wooden palette is perhaps abit too small to eat your croissant on as most of it ends up on the table top - not great. The interior is so light and fresh with a lovely bakery with super fresh bakes and meals to go.

Exceptional food and drink today at Deli One. I had a gorgeous plate of bruschetta with goats cheese, tomato jam and crushed nuts. (So so delicious) and my sister had the schnitzel sandwich on whole grain bread. (insanely good!) The deli is lovely, the service is great, and the food is sublime. Very nice!

Outstanding.

Really cute little café , you cant miss it if you enter through the Woolworths entrance.

I love that they mark down their baked items before closing.

The store is a maze of yummy items and things to look at. Their displayed items are very interesting.
quaint little unusual store and often very busy.

Outstanding service, freshest and most delicious baked goods! Deli One's menu offers a wide variety of trendy foods that tickles the taste buds.

I came to Deli One to grab some gelato with a Zomato voucher I received and I was quite impressed with the places sophisticated and quaint decor. The food on display looked absolutely divine and I would love to try some of it at some point, but unfortunately I was quite full from lunch so just stuck to the gelato.

The service wasn't great as it took forever to get someone's attention, and when I eventually did they didn't really know how to help me with the voucher. Eventually one of the waitresses helped us and I managed to get two cones with two scoops. They don't have too many flavours to choose from, but I'm a chocolate fan so I stuck to original chocolate and choc chip. The gelato was nice, nothing that blew my mind but it was still tasty. I also tried a bit of the strawberry and I found that it was way too sweet. I think I would definitely return for their other tasty looking food in future but I would rather go to Cinnabon for my dessert.

This deli is the mall's only serious competitor to The Bread Basket.

This is a great option if you are in the area and not sure exactly what you want to eat.I love that they let you taste all the difffferent appetisers on display before you buy them!Their olives are an olive addict's dream come true!I went there about a month ago to try them out for the first time.I tried all the appetisers, because they all looked so good!I was there for so long that I must have looked like one of those customers who tries to score a freebie!:D:D The waiter who served me was incredibly patient, and I felt free to taste all the yummy goodies on the table. It was a very welcoming experience.I ended up buying 300grams of garlic-stuffed green olives, and 300 grams of the lemon and herb ones. They were DIVINE! When I got back to work, I gobbled them up within minutes. They were SO good!I will definitely be back soon.I'm dying to try the Lebanese potatoes , salads and all the other goodies that they offer!

This is definitely the best place to stop and have a quick bite while shopping. Very nice deli sectiion with great breads on offer.
They have a great imported tea selection. I tried the persian pomegranate. Really good. My friend had a freshly squeezed juice from the juice bar. We tried the warm cinnamon apples that were delicious and the salmon benedict brioche. Absolutely the best. A little pricey but well worth a visit.

I love this little deli and make it a point to peruse the baked goods they have on offer whenever I shop at Sandton. Their breads are amazing! My favourite is their Walnut raisin bread which is dense and delicious. Their deli lunch menu is expensive but quite delicious
Ivone Da Silva
A small deli which at time can get overwhelming. While the food is devine and the staff are quite friendly it's not the place i would recomend to have a nice relaxed meal.

We cannot go to Sandton City without making a stop to Deli One. The food is great and they change their menus often to have variety and seasonal ingredients. When my parents come from Bloemfontein they always insist we make a stop at Deli One. The gelato is to die for! The owners went to Italy to learn how to make it and it really does not disappoint. The tarts are delicate and makes you want more. The portions are a good size. Cappuccinos are strong and creamy, the different types of teas are definitely worth trying. The owners are very hands on and makes all guests feel welcome. The waiters know what they are selling and the service in general is pretty good.

When in Sandton it is almost mandatory to grab a coffee whilst there.

Deli One is nestled down one of the hundreds of sidewalks of Sandton, close to the woolworths. The restaurant has a modern deli layout with many delicious salads, meats and cheeses on display.

Having eaten here many a time, I always leave with a smile on my face. The food is delicious and the staff are extremely friendly. Sometimes it can be difficult to get a table however they are very accommodating and a couple of times I have even been offered a delicious nibble whilst waiting to be seated.

The treats that come with a cappuccino are amazing and the almond croissant is even better!
Charné
Wow i was really impressed by this restaurant. I had the most delicious tomato and chorizo pasta which was packed with flavour. My friend had a salad which was a very generous size and looked absolutely delicious and very fresh. the waitress was also very friendly and helpful despite the fact that we were in a rush. Great place.
Anisha Lutchman
I've been to Deli One a couple of times but I have no idea why I haven't reviewed it yet. This time we popped in for coffee. I ordered the crème brûlée latte to drink. I recall having this previously and it wasn't too great but it was really delicious this time - the coffee had great flavour and it was topped with lots of fresh cream and a touch of cinnamon. I also had a taste of their miniature chocolate and fresh cream Swiss rolls which were also really yum!

Deli One offers a lovely selection of baked goods and ice cream. I was standing at the table at the front and the aromas of all the food on display was amazing. I was tempted to order a pizza slice but instead opted for a chocolate croissant to take home.

Our waiter was really friendly and attentive and the service was great. The restaurant has a nice vibe to it and the decor is simplistic and quite beautiful. I do find that the seating area is a bit cramped. They could definitely do with a little bit more space. Other than that, it's a great spot to grab a quick coffee!
Julia Louise Domanski
I absolutely love this deli. It is quite expensive (R118 for a sandwich is a bit steep) but then again this is Sandton and the ingredients are all so fresh and delicious, it's worth it for a treat now and again.
My mom had The Italian with ham instead of mortadella and she said the bread and fillings were divine. My roast duck, pomegranate and avo salad was sublime- the flavours were perfectly balanced and you get a lot of duck for your R98.
Service was friendly- a bit slow but not unbearably so.
The actual deli is absolutely stunning with a wide range of gorgeous imported products, delicious olives and artichokes and ready-made sandwiches and pastries which all looked fresh and inviting. The patisserie section at the back of the deli is a dream- I wanted one of everything.
Can't wait to come back and try some of the other tempting menu items but for now I'm going to enjoy my artichokes, lemony olives and aubergine and olive tapenade which I bought.
Natalie De Canha
It's been a foodie-family kind of weekend 😍
Really enjoyed trying a deli-take on lunch at this restaurant, and the food was really fresh and fun!
The service was a bit slow and confused due to a crowded space which did not sit well for a hungry tummy but overall a really ️pleasant experience!
Candice Gerber
The one thing I was prepared to eat on the menu was actually delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the Salmon. The plates were beautifully presented and the service was great. I won't be back in a hurry I'm afraid as this menu wasn't for my tastebuds but a gorgeous little spot.
Zizi “Zed-I” Dlamini
I generally have a really great taste experience when I visit Deli One. The fish and chips is still my favourite - absolutely delicious. Their fresh juices are always light and refreshing. On one occassion I tried the basil beef but it wasn't for me. There were some elements that I didn't think quite fit in but that may just be my taste buds.
Carla15
A nice breakfast and coffee spot. I've also heard that they serve nice salads for lunch. Simplistic decor and a nice vibe. It is however in the middle of a shopping mall so not the most beautiful spot. They serve little pastries with your coffee which is a nice touch. I will be back for coffee while shopping.
Gigliola Conte-Patel
They occasionally stock the most divine red velvet cupcakes, seriously the best I've ever tasted. They also have a delicious selection of salads and pre made meat dishes which are perfect for a healthier lunch. The a la carte menu is good as well, I tried the artichoke pasta a while back which was a perfectly balanced tomato based dish, not too rich and not sour.
Sonja Offwood
The breakfast at Deli one was really great - I loved the bacon and brie croissant and the mushroom omelette was also great. I did find the food a little on the pricey side for what one got. The only other notable point which didn't sit right with me, is the amount of stuff they have in the store/restaurant. I find it a bit cramped and feels a bit cluttered. Otherwise a reasonably nice spot to have a break while shopping in Sandton.

Beautiful decorations and well mannered staffs :)

After a long day of shopping, we enjoyed our dinner at Deli One in Sandton City.

The waiter was very attentive and welcoming. A few ingredients of 2 of the dishes we ordered were sold out but the waiter handled the situation professionally and introduced us some substitutes (which went so well with the whole dish)

Food: The drinks were in a very cute and presentable bottle, especially the strawberry and banana smoothie. It was a bit on the sour side but tasted very organic.
We ordered a Veggie burger, provençal chicken and schnitzel sandwich. The burger was stunning and all dishes were seasoned beautifully and the price is fantastic but the chicken dishes were dry, which is a little let down.

I can't help but notice the beautiful decorations in deli. There are various selections of salads, ice creams, sugar cones and wafer sticks on display as well as breads and cakes on the stands outside.

Overall: Good ambiance, friendly staffs, amazing burger but dry chicken.
Would come back again :)
Natalie Southgate
Just had a great meal here for breakfast, it was very nice and had a different and modern feel. The flavours of all our meals mixed so well together and their freshly squeezed juices were great. The service was good as everyone was friendly and meals and drinks came fast. I will def be coming back to this restaurant to try a lunch
Shannon Correia
Deli one is a great stop for a takeaway lunch or dessert. It's always busy, but expect to pay more if you sit down. We had a salmon breakfast which was quite good, although very expensive and smaller than we hoped for.
Jonathan Keytel
In my day a pass was 50%, these days it may be lower but I still stick with the standard by which I was measured all the years. The experience today at Deli One was a fail - the coffee was good, but that's where it ended. Staff were no very attentive. The food was a disappointment - we both had the big fry up. The steak was dry, the sausage had no flavour and the potato bake was raw. Either they are having a bad day or the average Zomato reviewers have low standards.
Jacqueline De Sousa
attempted having lunch here this afternoon but unfortunately I walked out with disappointment and paying for my coffee. Service was shocking as there was one waiter for the whole restaurant. The deli bar had such a little variety. Someone sitting next to me complained about the quality of the bread saying it was very old already. Don't know what happened from the last time. The new menu isn't even as pleasing as the old one. doubt I'll pop in again anytime soon.
The Food Musketeer
Popped in here for something to keep me going while shopping. Always loved the look of the items being served here. On both ocasions just bought a takeaway. This time bought the cinnamon croissant which I found a bit oily and a lemon drink which was very nice.
Kev
Please can you sort out the appalling service. We waited almost an hour for breakfast and left without eating. The couple next to us had to ask the waiter for the milk for their coffee, the toast that should come with the breakfast and complained that their meal was cold. So I get the feeling this is the norm especially after a similar experience on another occasion.
Sharyn Kj Hanscombe
From the appalling service to the below average food, the whole experience was underwhelming. First, apparently you don't have honey on the premises or the staff found it easier to say that rather than look. Second, your "angel hair" pasta has turned to spaghetti, or your staff weren't bothered to inform us it was out of stock. Third, your interpretation of Japanese soba was embarrassing and grossly over sauced with some kind of vinegar infusion of sorts. Also, no chopsticks? Lastly, your staff picking up serviettes from the floor and putting them on our table was the nail in the coffin. We won't be back.
Jodi
We came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It's a lovely place and all the baked goods look AMAZING! I had the eggs benedict and asked for a soft egg. When it came the eggs were hard and the buns were so under cooked, they were almost raw. I was very disappointed as I had been here plenty of times before and have never had a bad meal. My friend ordered the croissant and it was so fresh and delicious! The coffee is also really good here!
Tracy
Best everything! Deli is filled with all kinds of awesome. Most buttery croissants you will ever taste in your life! Fresh juices, lasagna, olives, salads, even candy! You will want to try everything your eyes see! Love this place to death.
Pieter Claassens
Absolute worst egg Benedict I have ever had in my entire life. Tasteless and dry. I would rather eat at Mc Donald's next door. The coffee was good at least.
Lavita Oreb
Excellent lunch venue. The artichoke pasta which made its comeback onto the menu is excellent. If you do order the pasta change the penne for the angel hair pasta. I would have given a 5 rating however service is a bit on the slow side.
Reshma
Always walk past Deli One as there is never an open table. But now that I've eaten here twice, I understand why. The service quick and adequately friendly. The food menu has a great variety for every tastebud. The portions are generous and well plated.
The juice bar selection refreshing on a hot summer day, a must try.
Make an effort to wait for a table, u will not be disappointed!
LuluFromJozi
Awesome lunch spot. Staff is very friendly, but a bit slow. Not so keen on the owners choice of having the boys serve up front and all the girls in the kitchen, but great spot none the less. Everything is so fresh and reasonably priced. The fresh cream is out of this world. One lady kindly changed my order after I made a mistake in ordering something incorrectly. Definitely going back.
Jaime The Jambo
We grabbed some take away snacks, had the chicken sarmie with like a sweet onion glaze, absolutely delicious. However, my favourite was the quiche, it blew me away, but we didn't catch what it was, but, try them all, their food looks so incredible! Would absolutely go back. Love. Jambo.
Lisa Davonne Ronaldo
The sliders are amazing, nice and vibey. The pink lemonade tastes really good. Shoestring fries are nice and not oily. Would go back for sure

A visit to Sandton City usually is for retail therapy or to catch a movie...but this Saturday we decided to try something new. So the search was on... thats on Zomato :) and I found this spot. Pics look amaze, menu piqued my interest....lets do it. As you walk into Deli One you feel as if you are in foodie heaven. There are shelves filled with pastas, pastes, spices, teas, coffees....all delicious goodies to cook at home. The decor was clean and fresh. Love the touches of the mirrors and bird cages that add a bit of new age decor to the authentic delicatessen. To drink we had a cappuccino and a freshly squeezed carrot, pineapple, apple and ginger juice. Delicious. I took a walk around to the deli where there was an ice cream section with a selection of various sugar wafer cones, then a sweet and choccie section, followed by various salad options then a dessert section which will make you wish you not cutting out sugar. Then there was a fridge with healthy and delicious food to go and in front of this there was table with burgers, flat breads, filled croissants. You are definitely spoilt for choice. Our choice was the chicken zoodles, which is zucchini noodles with creamy parmesan sauce and chicken slivers and the prosciutto chicken breast stuffed with peppers on a bed of mushroom risotto with a side of butternut mash and a medley of roasted veggies. The food was incredible and the prices are also fab. The restaurant was pretty full and our food did take a bit long to arrive but the waitress came through to tell us it will be ready shortly. This is a wonderful addition to the Sandton city mix of restaurants and definitely worth a visit.

So went for some lunch in Sandton city. This place has awesome decor and great options. There is a deli option where you can choose a side and a main. I'm trying to be gluten free at the moment so I had zuchini zoodles with chicken. Was tasty. Definitely worth a try.

First time coming to Deli One in Sandton City. The "deli" is a little crowded and they could do with a little more space. I ordered a creme brulee latte, which was not the best coffee around, average at best. We had the croissant with brie, caramelized onions, and bacon, this was very delicious and the flavour combinations worked well; and the croissant with scrambled eggs which was good, but the eggs could have been a little creamier. To end off we had a chocolate ganache tart, which was yummy; and the custard slice, which seemed a little old but still had good flavour.

Great decor. While the prices are quite high, the food is really great. Portions aren't massive. The butternut/halloumi salad is exceptional

Great deli and bakery offering in Sandton City shopping mall just before Woolworths. Great presentation of sweet pastries, salads and deli type food. Has a lovely vibe and modern feel.

Delione!!!! Amazing experience staff friendly decor is stunning and the food is absolutely delicious
It's got an overseas cafè style to it that is wonderful will definitely be there soon
I recommend the salmon sandwich with a freshly squeezed juice and to finish it off with one of their famous gelatos.
Highly recommend!!!

Food was really delicious and well presented. Ambience was what you would expect from a deli, however it was exactly what we needed at the time of the day.

The one aspect that really upset me was the fact that when the other people who were with me ordered their beverages, mine had not arrived. When the meal arrived, my beverage still had not arrived and I had to ask the waiter twice about it. Not acceptable, it's basic service etiquette to bring all drinks and all meals to the table at the same time.

Other than the above, we all enjoyed our meals.

This is a beautiful deli/cafe in the Sandton shopping centre. The decor is refined and there is delicious food displayed all over the place.

We were unlucky to have a poor waiter and so the service suffered. But the food came in a decent time and was absolutely delicious.

A great place for breakfast or lunch when in the centre.

For a cafe i was pleaantly surprised. Food was great and comparable with some
High end eateries! We have a basil beef and lamb wrap ... yum!! The basil beef was a smallish portion.

We had an awful experience! Poor service, slow service, miserable staff, the food took about 45 minutes to arrive, it was cold and not worth the price (although it looked quite yummy!) it's such a pity considering the setting and location. We won't be back.

I have been to deli one before and the salads are great. But today had the worst service. I waited 45min for a salad. It was not busy with many open tables.

the freshest cafe / deli food, simple but super tasty. Great for a quick lunch between shopping.
Constant line outside just shows how popular this place is.
Fresh juices are wonderful!

This place is in the Heart of the city and thought it's difficult to get a table here but we managed to get one. The food here is awesome the dip trio is a must with spinach salad and the yummy pastries. Must visit place guys

I've got some really good take out sarmies, cakes and pastries from Deli One and I really hope that they develop their offering and spread their wings because we need more bakery/deli choices around town - its Sandton store has a great feel to it and always looks busy.
Akira
Bought the most amazing carrot cake from Deli One for my aunt's birthday. Wow everyone was impressed and the cake was so fresh and just delicious. Don't like the location because it is in the middle of a busy walkway but the food is good and the service is on point.

Came here because a friend was raving about the haloumi and pomegranate salad which I personally thought was slightly dry,
but i do get what the rave is about. Not that you can ever go wrong with haloumi in a salad taste wise but in addition - the occasional explosion of sweetness when you bite into the scattered pomegranate is quite a nice time.

Also
The crockery is quite cool (and for Sale) &
The whole on-the-go concept (complete with juice and snack/sandwich bar) is lovely.

If you don't mind the foot-traffic (it's in Sandton city, but they do have a few tables inside, off the sidewalk) Its definitely one of the places that should come to mind the next time you hear "grab a bite".

Tried to have dinner here after confirming vegetarian options for my fiance, I then ordered our drinks and my mains only to be told they realized they don't have grilled vegetables after all

I then told them that they have to cancel my mains and left.

First time there means never again based on their service

I had the halloumi and pomegranate salad. I can safely say it's one of the best salads I've had in a while. A generous portion, beautifully presented and comes with a honey, lemon and poppyseed dressing.
Every meal you see being taken to a table looks scrumptious.

The restaurant is very inviting. The only let down I think was the service - a bit slow and our waitress was not very 'warm.'

Will definitely be back. :)

One of the places in Sandton City I recommend. Dr Shakshuka breakfast is brilliant if you like spicy. Decent coffee but I have to add a shot to the cappuccino.
Gloria Masuku
Their presentation is everything, from the cappuccino to the club salad that I had for lunch. I'm quite sure a few passer-bys were enticed from simply looking at my plate.
Their regular cappuccino is rather big when compared to other cafés (not that I'm complaining). The chicken salad tasted as good as it looked. What a pleasant lunch.

Deli one is an amazing coffee shop/ fine dining restaurant in the heart of the best shopping mall! After shopping till you drop head to deli one for an amazing arabiata pasta with the freshest tomatoes and basil with a pink rose lemonade on the side. The presentation is a real feast for the eyes and the taste is simply amazing!

We love the chic decor and ambiance in this restaurant. The food is exceptional and the deli allows you to take some of their delicious goodies home with you. I particularly enjoyed the marinated artichokes, possibly the best I've ever had. Yum!

Absolutely delicious new addition to the menu! The haloumi and pomegranate salad with added chicken is fresh and I couldn't stop going back for more. Lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back for it again.

Food and decor are great, you can find everything there (icecream, cakes, bread...) and service is good and friendly.
The only downside, you have to squeeze yourself on the way to your table.

This restaurant is my absolute favourite place to go for breakfast/brunch. I constantly talk of 'Deli One' to those around me. My favourite item on their menu is their bacon, brie and caramelised onion hot filled croissant. It is to die for! They have a great variety of unique home made juices too and then of course what is a 'Deli One' meal without some of their amazing cheesecake. Take it home, or eat ir there but DO NOT miss their cheesecake! A resturant of true delight.

I've been wanting to go to Deli One since they opened but its always full! And for good reason why. I love the decor and the buffet style set up. You feel like you could get a healthy meal in a relaxed environment.

For breakfast, the husband tried the sweetcorn fritters which was good. I ordered eggs benedict. A lot of restaurants get this dish wrong but my meal was delicious. It's exactly how eggs benedict should be prepared - with a velvety smooth hollandaise sauce.

A great breakfast spot if you ever find yourself in Sandton City early enough.

I had an excellent omelette here it was delicious!! And the coffee was very good, worth a try. I really liked the waiter I had he was lekker.

Made the mistake of going here for breakfast this morning. Server cocked up order, food gets placed infront if be and he disappears. I discover very runny eggs, despite my order for them to be well done. Couldn't find server, so I alert the nearest staff member, who takes the meal away. Ten minutes later, still no sign of server or word on when replacement will be served or any kind of apology of the inconvenience! My sister had almost finished her breakfast at this stage. When I do eventually find the server assigned to the section where I was seated.... no apology, instead he shifts the blame for the lack of communication to his colleague, who I had asked to take the runny eggs away. Wonder if management bothers with training their staff. After I asked for the bill and told both servers that I am not going to hang around for the replacement meal, a manager came through and apologised. In the end the bill reflected just the meal my sister had - drinks and my elusive meal, I didn't pay for. Suppose that was atleast some form of customer service. But I won't bother visiting this establishment again!!!

Well presented Deli faire. Probably one of the better places to grab a bite. Salmon breakfast is great. And the quiches and tarts to go are delicious.
Nadi
So cute, absolutely stunning the level
Of simplicity yet detail that goes into their desserts and the sweet counter. If there was more room I'd try everything, and leave nothing out... Absolutely delectable

Food is as flavourful as it is craftily presented! Lovely deli section and a great, oft-changing sit-down menu- they really do have something for everyone. Service is sometimes poor, but is often overlooked completely when the food arrives... Great spot for breakfast, lunch, or to grab something to take home...

So the christmas rush is on !!! arrived at 20H30 to be told we must order quickly as they are closing which we did and orderd various meze plates and enquired as to if we had selected enough food to which the response its okay and waiter rushed off one glass of wine arrived we then waited 10 min while they FOUND the red wine in the back room ( which was dismal) 2 of the meze plates requested were out of stock, food arrived small portions sufficient as a starter for 2 people hummus was good and the vegetable plate, but meat was dry and over cooked clearly the service was a case of eat and go but managed to top up on food at Macdonalds next door and all this with 2 tables in the restaurant.

Had the eggs benadict, eggs were well done even though i asked for medium to soft. Portion size was also a bit small and food came cold. Flavours were good.

Had the worse food poisoning of my life from the harvest table.Ended up in Morningside Medi Clinic 2 days before Christmas last year. Phoned them to tell them and staff weren't interested, told me to phone back as there was no one I could speak to.

This deli/restaurant is located in the woolworths court in Sandton city. It has lovely decor and a variety of items available to purchase such as gelato, fresh juices, glassware etc. The menu has a wide range of breakfasts to choose from. I had the granola bowl, which was beautifully plated and delicious.

Lovely place for breakfast. If you like spicy food try the Dr Shakshuka eggs. Leaves a nice chili buzz in your mouth. Deli has some interesting goods.

This little cafe is often super busy and its a struggle to get a table straight away. Luckily we were early enough for a table for two. Coffee, breakfast and pastries were superb (had the eggs Benedict and a berry scone). My biggest problem was the painfully slow service. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to attend to us and our coffee only arrived after our food which isn't really acceptable at all. I would go back to try more of their dishes but I'm a bit cautious since the service was terrible.

Nice little restaurant in Sandton with a fresh selection of deli foods. Being quite popular, you may have to wait for a table but we got lucky and were seated straight away. Unfortunately the service was slow. Took along time to get menus and even longer to get my coffee - it arrived after my breakfast... Anyway, I had the eggs Benedict and it was great. They have a nice selection of tarts and croissants which were very tempting. I would recommend stopping by.

This place is always super crowded and for good reason. The portions are good, food is tasty and the drinks are quite nice as well.

I just wish they would stay open for dinner as well

Yum yum! This place is always ridiculously full so that must count for something and indeed it does! Love the fact that the past two times I've been there, they've had an "All Day Brunch" menu- there is no better meal time than brunch! Yummy drinks selection and good food- had the peaches and cream pancakes twice now which were delish, but better the first time around. Hoping to go back for another try at something different! Layout is a bit cramped though, and could be more secluded- you're basically sharing your meal with everyone walking by, it's that open. All in all I would go back!;)
