Had the best service and best nachos ever last night. Have not been to this outlet in a long time. There is a new feel and revamp, perfect location to watch the game too. I will definitely be returning soon. Had the nachos as a starter to share and had the best burger ever as a main ? The one infused with Jack daniels) it was too good. Did not get a chance to take a pick. The burgers come with various sides my friend had the mac and cheese and I had the chips. I would definitely like to revisit on a busier day
We popped into the News Cafe Woodmead a couple of weeks ago. We were actually just going to have a quick coffee, while we wait for traffic to die down. We walked in literally as the doors opened, and although they weren't 100% ready to go, we were welcomed inside. Cappucinos were served, and then we decided to stay for breakfast. The french toast was absolutely delicious! With bacon and brie, drizzled with maple syrup and served with sour cream. SO good! Friendly service so early in the morning, and a really yum breakfast. A pleasant surprise.
Great service, very friendly and accommodating of variations, disappointed that the nachos were not authentic, the ambience was also enjoyable !
I came sceptical, but have to say this was one of the better breakfasts I've had in a while. Great choices on the menu, efficient friendly service and a lovely setting for a spring morning.
28.02.2017 My colleagues brought me here for my farewell lunch. I've never seen this place so empty over lunchtime. It's usually packed.
I tried the Chicken and Avo open sandwhich which ends up being a massive portion of food vs if you take the wrap version that my friend's had. The chicken was tasty and looks tempting and my onion rings were great. My only disappointing thing was finding a hair in my Passion fruit crush which I sent back and they replaced it even though I saw a few looks coming my way.
Glad that the food is still being kept at a good standard.
Always treated really well at this branch, very good service and friendly staff! Love a place that does all day breakfast, so after a hard training session I normally end up here for a good meal and decent coffee!
Awesome hang out spot after work . This place gets super busy on a Friday evening.
Make sure you get there early to avoid standing. Great service. But it seems to slack down when the place it full to the brim.
Otherwise great service and friendly staff.
Friday and we wanted a few drinks after work, so we decided to make our way to News Cafe across the road.
Even though we only had a few drinks, I have had a meal here before and the food was always good. This time as well, the service was on point and the drinks came pretty quickly.
I ordered the chicken Cesar salad for take away. I must say, this salad has consistently won me over, even at the Sandton News Cafe. The salad is quite pricey for value, and I do the ink they could of been more lenient with the Parmesan shavings, but all in all - good.
The atmosphere at the bar is sophisticated and has a New York vibe to it. Will definitely recommend for a Friday night out!
An oasis in a sea of shops. Needing a work space while in the area, popped in here. Service was super and our waiter very accommodating as we had to move work stations closer to plug points but just after the food arrived. Food was on point for a working brunch and portions are generous. Thursday's through to Sunday eve there is a DJ that apparently rocks the house so expect crowds if dining then. Next shopping trip will see me ordering a cocktail from their many choices while sitting comfortably at their large bar!
Went here to end of our weekend this past sunday. There was a dj playing who made me wish that it was saturday night again !
We needed a snack to accompany our drinks and ordered the nachos con pollo. Portion size was good and food was fresh and delicious, we shared between three adults. Drinks came fast and our waiter was attentive. As always I needed something sweet to end off. They do not stock cakes at this branch. The waiter offered me a brownie it was not great and we only ate half of it, but I appreciated the effort so we did not complain. Overall a good experience here.
I have been going to Newscafe Woodmead for drinks, vibey nightlife and the house music on weekends for years. It's still one of my favourite weekend night out for drinks. I have never ordered any of their food. As a drinks spot I give it thumps.
Saturday was a BIG shopping day for us girls just before Christmas in Woodmead, and we rewarded ourselves in the morning with a stop and light snack at this conveniently located local watering hole in Woodmead. It is actually a great pit stop after a big night out and their nachos make for awesome, cheesy hangover finger food!
I was blessed to have also been given a voucher for any Newscafe to try out their assorted new cocktails on the ever-growing cocktail menu so I could not resist actually trying this out too. Most impressed, and I will load the photos soon.
*Recommendation: Definitely try out one of their new Tiki fruity, rum-based cocktails ;)
Service was great today, we asked for it to come with a dash of speed which it most certainly did! Our table ordered the Nachos Grande to start- it was some of the best Nachos I've eaten! As a main, I ordered the original burger and it certainly didn't disappoint either!
News Cafe's are awesome in general due to their extensive drinks menu...luv their cosmopolitan's. The Woodmead one is awesome on a warm supper's afternoon...u can sit around & watch the cars drive by;-)
I still think that news cafe makes the best nachos...genuine nacho chips, generous helping of cheese and chicken to top it...one of my favourites!
News Cafe has always remained the same over the years. It's a fun, vibey place to grab a glass of wine or cocktail and a small bite to eat. In summer, the one in Woodmead is the perfect place to have a drink on the deck after work while the traffic dies down.
The work team went to News Cafe for a farewell. It was a pleasant afternoon with friends. Platters were good and tge putside area was pleasant due to the sun.
I love resturant that occupy their own space it makes me feel like they are a precious gem alone it its glory meant only to shine and simply that's what this news cafe does. There's a chilled afternoon situation which slowly turns into a vibrant youth evening. The food is very nice with succulent meat choices and the service is good.
OMFG! News Cafe!. Absolutely love the place. Went there so many times and still want to go back. The #VIBE #PEOPLE #PARTY ? #MUSIC. #HeavenOnEarth. Everything about this place is marvelous. Now I feel like going...#? #ConsideringIt.
Lovely lay out, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful bar area. Tried the wrap and finger foods, mini hamburgers, corndogs for my 7 yr old. Was really great. Awesome staff.Thankyou
Just had the bar one cake!!!! What a treat, was very decadent. My son had the ice cream.
If you want a night out of cocktails and wraps and chips you've come to the right place. I like that when the sun goes down the older crowd disappears slowly:)
Went for a lunch after some Woodmead shopping madness. Decided to go for something lite at Newscafe Woodmead. The manager greeted me at the door. We we quickly shown to our seats and our drinks came quickly. The floors were clean and the waiter polite. For small meals they did take a bit long to come out but we were very happy about the over all taste and portion sizes. Definitely be back for some more lunch time satisfaction.
News Café in Woodmead is always busy, especially on weekends. Parking in front of the venue is limited, but you can park across the road in Woodmead Retail Park’s parking area. The menu has the standard offerings for breakfast, wraps, burgers, platters, and finger snacks. Their cocktail menu is rather extensive and features old favourites, as well as some new creations; this menu is revamped often, so check back regularly to try them out.
Service is extremely friendly, both at the venue and on Twitter (@newswoodmead).
