Great decor, friendly staff and such a great variety on the menu! This is a refreshingly different type of venue! Definitely a venue for adults and not a family outing. Book them for your next date night or adults birthday party. Reservations for weekend bookings highly recommended.

Hmmm they certainly make good rum drinks and food bastings. The venue is great for functions- when it's your birthday you get a shot and you get to dance on the table with a waiter. Venue is also big enough to accommodate large groups but equally suitable for a family of four or date night with your significant other . The menu has something of everything, Italian, Asian, Mexican cuisines are all present and they have a kids menu which is great. Unfortunately nachos are not served after brunch. Great variety on the drinks menu as well with a good wine selection. The food took some quite some time before it was served but it was delicious with good sizeable portions for the price. They make a mean hot sauce,be sure to request it!! Service was good (a bit slow) restaurant vibe and music is relaxed. Love that the menu is so well rounded. Something for everyone. Tacos are gluten free for those with allergies.

A friend booked this spot to celebrate her birthday with a bunch of people. I've had this on my 'to eat' list since they opened. The place was completely packed and there was at least 4 people celebrating their birthdays in the venue. As a result it was kinda cramped and hectic and service was a bit of a let down. We had platters of food to share to start, vegetarian and lovely meaty platters. The Food was quite nice and a reasonable variety. I didn't get a chance to order anything else as ordering a drink proved problematic. In the end I gave up and just drank water. I think they need to get more waiters on board especially if they know they have booked big groups. They do make the birthday person feel special in how the staff help celebrate and the BIG dessert they bring with. Would like to go again and check out the menu properly. They do have a nice variety for drinks. We had the Tipo Tinto Sharing jugs, which seems to be in the "In" drinks at eateries. Roxanne Rum Eatery is one of the must visit restaurants in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been there many times and each time I loved the food and the good vibe at the restaurant. The vegetarian options are also good and you really feel the quality and the presentation of the food is awesome. Desserts are made with activated carbon which is good for health and tasty too. Had a really awesome time here. Arrived around 7, place was still slightly empty, but as we had our wide range of cocktails and drinks, the place filled up, the vibe picked up. The service slowed down but understandably so. We had the Mac and cheese and it has gone down a little since the last time we came, but was still great. Little weird that there isnt a male bathroom (I'm all for empowerment, but we don't live in a sexist society). There were a lot of Batchelorette parties going on, seemed like the place for it. But overrall it was an awesome night.

Intriguing menu with some great food choices. Feels much more then a bar menu and definitely worth visiting few times to taste the different options. Great variety on drinks and cocktails and awesome vibe overall. Very friendly staff that go above and beyond. Will definitely visit again.

We went to have a bite to eat at Roxanne's a few days ago. They have an amazing menu, lots of vegan options too. The food is great, the vibe is amazing and the service is the best. I can definitely recommend it.

Awesome place! Love the cool art and neon lights. The drinks menu is MASSIVE and the cocktails are so interesting. If you like sweet cocktails, get the Dita Von Teese... I could drink that one every single time I visit. Also, book in advance. It gets quite busy.

What a fantastic restaurant. The decor and ambiance was great. The food and drinks were also wonderful. The Nutella and fried banana waffle for desert is a must have.

Bloody marvellous! Bar menu for now, but cocktails are insane, ambience is great, and plenty of good looking people. Try the waffles; Huge, crispy, perfect! And the ladies bathroom is designed around selfies 😂

On Saturday we made a birthday booking at Roxannes. Making a booking was so easy, online and actually reliable. On getting there we were greeted by Charl (the manager) who promptly showed us our table with our waiter (Steve Austin) standing by. We were a large group of 12. The restaurant was super packed and the vibe was amazing. Through the night our waiter was attentive and made sure we were properly hydrated and fed. Not once did we feel ignored despite how busy it was. At some point in the night I started fanning myself to cool down. It was at this point that another waiter walked up to me and indicated that the manager apologises that it's warm and they will be turning the air conditioning up. Now that's what I call great service. The food was great. The cocktails were great. The service was great. I totally recommend Roxannes!

We had a girls night here on a very busy Saturday night. Our waiter was absolutely amazing (Sibusiso) he was literally running around and even took the time to take endless photos for us without complaining once. It's not often that a busy, new restaurant has staff that try so hard and go above and beyond. The food was also exceptionally good, we all enjoyed our meals, and the tequila was the hit of the night - it comes in a shot glass in a tumbler of crushed ice with lemon. The vibe was awesome as well and we will definitely be going back!

The decor is fab! Our waiter (Django) was great! Loved the drinks. But the food was a let down. The Tempura ribs had no flavour, and the pizza was average. So grateful we shared meals and didnt have a starter and main each.The cheese cake was good but tiny bits of Turkish delight nothing like the FB picture. Will be back for drinks, but will skip the food.

Fantastic vibe, beautiful decor and excellent service from all involved. One of the most unique cocktail and shooter selections and the food was to die for! In a sea of autonomy, Roxanne’s Rum Eatery stands head and shoulders above the rest! Definitely a must!

The only reason I am giving this a 2 star rating is due to average service delivery (take note - not good). The food however was a complete rip-off. I ordered the pulled pork taco and got 3 tiny tacos for R88, with no decent sides. The starters at other restaurants offer larger portions than that! There are plenty of other restaurants in that area that offer much better food for that price and for that reason I won't return or recommend it to anyone. I hope management reads this and rectifies it ASAP!

Epic decor, good vibe and friendly, well-trained staff. Cocktail selection is excellent! However the food was a let down and definitely not worth the above average prices.

I had my Bday party here on Friday, the 8th of June!! Thank you Danielle and Steve, everything was perfect for me and my 15 guests! :) The food was great- we had all types of platters, fish, meat, vegetarian. The cocktails were Yummy and the cakes DELICIOUS!! This place it really has a character and I will definitely go back to try some new food & drinks!

Waited 45 min for food order! And it was so average!! Second time I’ve eaten there and the food is expensive and not worth it. Won’t eat there again.

I have been twice...and had the Tacos....twice :) The cocktails are delicious, the meat platter was also enough to feed 3 people (we may have filled up on some shooters & champagne) and our waiter was funny & knowledgeable. Management was friendly and the vibe was great. Booking a girls night there next week. Can't wait! Im yet to try a dessert... Such a breathe of fresh air in the Lonehill area.

Last night my partner & I came through to Roxannes Rum Eatery for the "Meatless Monday" - we had the vegan taco's and the vegan cottage pie. Two words to sum the whole night up = Absolutely Amazing!!! The food was so tasty and wholesome. The service was perfect, the ambiance was wonderful - we had a heater right by us. The manager was exceptional. The whole experience was so lovely that I decided to host my birthday party there this coming Saturday. Daniella booked it for me & booked our own little spot for us. I am so excited for Saturday. Thank you Daniella & team for catering to vegans & making it an exceptional experience.

I think Roxanne should stop selling the black waffle because the black color does not discharge from the body properly. Stool is in dark blue the next day, and it is still in dark blue after three days. I think the color is not extracted from animal or plants.

The food was good and the atmosphere was fun. The waiter was a little absent, but all in all a good experience and satisfaction all around!

Decided to come here after looking at a few places in the area. After having been here once before we enjoyed it a lot again. Great variety and choice on the drinks (we ordered quite a few), except for one which I found too creamy. I mentioned it to our kind and attentive waitress (Zoë, aka Bridget) when she asked for my feedback, after which the manager came to apologize and brought us two complimentary shooters (Candy feels - strong!). Overall a great lunch with great service and greatly appreciated the mist sprays on a hot day.

Very average, the place is gorgeous but food and drinks aren’t anything special. Below average food, for above average prices. Won’t go back.

A friend and I ended up here for a midweek lunch as another restaurant was closed. The service is excellent and the ambience is very vibey. We had the chicken and pork tacos and because we were both still hungry ordered a burger and Buddha bowl. Nothing really stood out for me but the overall experience was good.

Good food but deceptive pricing on the menu. Prices don't align to what the food item is. I felt ripped off. The difference in price is significant. I hope they didn't do this on purposes.

We went to have a bite to eat at Roxanne's a few days ago. They have an amazing menu, lots of vegan options too. The food is good, we had the deep fried Mac and Cheese, it wasn't a bad dish but it felt like it was missing some direction with the taste. We also had black waffles, the presentation was great, the waffle had a great consistency. The vibe is amazing and the service is the best. I can definitely recommend it.

Ate here for the first time last night and was not disappointed! The staff are friendly and there’s a nice vibe about the place. The cocktails are amazing and the food is just as fantastic. Presentation of everything is so well done. Would definitely recommend this place. It is a little bit more pricey than you’d hope for maybe but definitely worth it.

A really cool eatery with multiple phrases on the walls. The food is very well presented and very enticing. The milkshakes are really good topped with marshmallows and other sweet things. The popcorn chicken and waffles did lack seasoning but it was still edible. An extensive food and drinks menu which is great.

This is one awesome restaurant. The food is top stuff, tasty, looks amazing, the portions are massive and it is super affordable. Really awesome date night venue. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The management and staff are very friendly and helpful.

This photo depicts what we had at Roxanne’s and this photo shows the food that was taken home because we could not stomach it after our first cocktail. This was THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Not only did the drinks arrive at the table within 2 mins but our waiter kept on bringing cocktails and shots to our table that we did not order, insisting its on the house. After 2 cocktails and 2 shots each, I had to rush my partner to the hospital because our drinks were spiked! She was extremely sick and took 5 days to recover to somewhat a normal state! Absolutely SICKENING!!!!

Absolutely lovely place to have lunch or dinner whether it be a date night or just an evening with friends! The presentation of the food is on point, as well as the deco. I’ve been here twice and the first time I ordered a platter which was mouth watering and the second time I ordered their tacos... that wasn’t such a pleasant experience. Overall it’s a great place and the staff is super friendly!

A funky, different place to visit. The drinks menu is great and the rum is delish. We visited on a week night and it was rather quiet so service was good. Not too sure what it’s like on a busy weekend. We tried a platter to sample many different foods and it was good. Definitely a place to visit and try out but more the drinks/weekend vibe.

Cocktail was amazing😍 just wish it was in a longer cocktail glass. The ambiance was fantastic on a Friday night. The naughty but nice restaurant personality is definitely one to experience. It reminded me of Betty Boop.

I have come to Roxanne's Rum and Eatery a couple of times, and the last time with a chef from a different high-end restaurant and all he could say was "Wow!!!"<br/><br/>The food is beyond delicious, the ambiance is absolutely beautiful yet exciting, and the service is extremely attentive and helped us 'indecisive' guests with explaining the different food choices and how it would accommodate our personal preferences.<br/><br/>The drinks are also incredible, they put a lot of effort into the actual experience of dining there, from the food, drinks, service and ambiance.

A really fun and vibrant restaurant that made for a great Friday night out. We indulged in a few of their fun cocktails and even some shooters and everyone at our table opted for the rather unusual Goth burgers, which was rather tasty, albeit a little confusing to the brain that is expecting it to taste burnt. The shoe string fries were the real winner though! I'd love to give them a 5 but unfortunately service was quite hit and miss. We booked a table but when we arrived no table was booked for us but luckily one became available quickly. Then while the food service was great, the drinks were very very slow to come out. Our shooters that were meant to come with toasted marshmallows only came with normal marshmallows and one of our coffees just never arrived even. On average drinks took 20 to 30 minutes to come out, which was a bit too slow for us but overall the vibe was good and the restaurant was packed so we didn't let it ruin the night. We had a great time and I'll definitely go back.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for sometime and ventured out one Sunday evening. The waitress was super friendly and helped us when they were about to close. Needless to say I think it’s more the vibe and feel inside that makes the place than the actual food. Ordered a vegetarian burger which was chickpea and lentil based but overkilled with the pungent taste of tumeric. My friend had an average hake burger. My boyfriend had ordered chicken soft shell tacos which to me was the best from all 3 meals but still not the most sizable portion of tatiest compared to Mexican places. Loved the super sized glass the Steelworks drink came in though!

Had a wonderful Father’s Day brunch here yesterday! I had booked a table for 10:30 but my family and I were running late, I contacted the restaurant through Instagram (yes, you read right - Instagram), where I’d also made the booking (love the progressive techno savvy-ness of it all) and they were so helpful.. From the Manager to the owner and our waitstaff, we had a wonderful time! So inviting and helpful.. The coffee and fresh pressed juices were amazing! The food - outstanding! We ordered the goth burger, pulled chicken bagel, fried calamari and Nutella French toast - not a single complaint. The food was cooked perfectly, presented wonderfully and tasted amazing! The place also looks quite great! We will all definitely be back!

Roxannes is the kind of spot that I would visit once to see what all the hype is about. <br/><br/>As a 30-something year old, I felt slightly awkward there on a Saturday night in my jeans and boots because most of the clientele had rocked up in their sparkly heels. It was really loud. Really loud, and my friend and I battled to have a conversation. <br/><br/>For drinks, we each had some of the grapefruit GnT that was on tap. It was served in a can which was quite pretty. Tasted super good too. I’ve seen photos of some of the shooters that Roxannes does and they look pretty damn incredible.<br/><br/>For chow, I couldn’t get away from the deep friend Mac n cheese. At heart, I am a carbs+fats girl and if there is Mac n Cheese on a restaurant menu, I will order it. My friend opted for the popcorn chicken waffles with sweet rum sauce. <br/><br/>Both arrived and looked amazing. The presentation of each dish was really good. Tasting them though ... it was okay. <br/><br/>I haven’t yet come across a version of fried Mac n Cheese that is able to retain the gooey cheesiness that I look for. I was hopeful, as I always am, but left a little disappointed. <br/><br/>The popcorn chicken wasn’t bad but it didn’t blow our minds either. There was a LOT of waffle on the plate, and a lot less chicken and even less rum sauce in comparison. The ratios felt a little off. <br/><br/>I must commend the hostess and waitron staff however. Their service was incredible and we witnessed them going out of their way to keep us comfy and happy. Huge plus there. <br/><br/>All in all, I’m glad I went. I won’t be rushing back but if I have a large, loud group of friends, I might suggest it as a good place to go hang out.

It's divine! Our dita von teese was super sweet with a tangy after taste. Just like I perceive the lady. All in all yumminess. You will see me again soon!

Vibey Friday night meeting the girls for dinner and this place was packed! I am glad I booked a table using Dineplan or else we wouldn’t have got in. Our waitress was extremely busy so we didn’t get to speak to her much but wow she was efficient. We all started with cocktails, all beautifully presented. The pink Prosecco is my favourite and I have had it here before. We all ordered food and I am so glad to see the large amount of vegan options!!! Joburg has been a bit behind on the whole vegan lifestyle train and I’m happy they have caught on to it.

This place is AMAZEBALLS!!! Had our latest ladies night there, and wow! Food is fantastic, cocktails even better. We're actually going again soon and taking my husband to experience it. I have seen so many pictures of this place so decided to give it a go myself last night. The décor and ambience is super cool! Everything down to the details have been thought through and it is possibly one of the nicest venues I have been to in Joburg. Their cocktails were unique yet delicious. Their bar staff were well informed and friendly. I found their food menu to be a bit strange (I'm a picky eater though 😂) however they stick to their rum theme throughout.<br/>Overall it was a great experience and will definitely be back again!!

Came for dinner on Freedom Day. The setup quite Vibey given the restaurants in the area. The waiter was rushing us to make orders, he was in a big hurry and was banging utensils on the table. The food (various bagels) was out of the kitchen in 5 minutes but cold.. and not once did he check on us to see how we were faring with the food. The dessert - all cheesecakes were sour, bitter and watery! Absolutely disgusting! There was a group of friends behind us who were loud and standing over us as we ate. I would be hard pressed to come back

Beautiful place with friendly and helpful staff. However, the food leaves much to be desired. Visited on two separate occasions for breakfast and lunch- both times were very disappointing. Waited for 45 minutes to receive our food (whilst there were no other patrons in the restaurant); when the food eventually arrived it was cold and bland. The kitchen took a further 15 minutes to reheat. Definitely not visiting again.

Roxanne’s is a very unique place for dinning with its edgy pin up retro interior style mixed some Asian elements. The menu I must say was full of options and a variety, with Greek, Mexican and American. The cocktail menu even blew my mind more, with unique cocktails even milkshakes with alcohol, I would recommend it for a nice lunch date or drinks with some friends and colleagues. I ordered a lamb burger pita with a side salad and shoe string fries, which were amazing. The lamb was full of flavor and the pita was freshly baked, slightly crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. The salad was amazing with a sweet tangy dressing words can’t describe, aswell as the shoe string fries with the potato skin not spared and season well enough for me not to use the table salt. My best friend had a bunless black bean burger and chickpea burger with avo and a side of shoes string fries. The black bean burger was so amazing I thought it was actual beef for a second. The chickpea patty was just as good with Asian spices and curries it was amazing. The cocktails were the best cocktails I have ever had they were perfect. I had a Dita Von Teese which was similar to a cosmopolitan but butter infused with exotic flavors I’ve never tasted anything like it. And my best friend had a Bettie Page, she isn’t much of a drink but she enjoyed it so much she is willing to return just to have another. <br/>The service was impeccable, I felt like I was a regular and it was my first time, friendly and welcoming which complimented the rest of the place and made you wanna stay longer. We went for lunch and ended up staying for almost 4hours. Overall one of my best dinning experiences.

These guys mean well, but food is really not what one would expect from a professional chef. Very mediocre on so many levels. Finally, we were charged R210 for two double pink gins. Ridiculous! Service was good but we won't be going back.

Enamoured by pictures floating around on social media, and despite friends’ warnings about its mediocrity, I recently visited Roxanne’s for the first time.<br/><br/>The group I was with had the Goth Burger, Pulled Pork Tacos and some of the platters. My burger wasn’t bad, it was just bland. I can’t seem to find words to describe it other than: dull. The black bun and presentation made for a decent Instagram picture, but I found myself wishing I could go next door to Rocomammas. The verdict from my friends was about the same. Apparently the tacos were mediocre, but the platter was tasty.<br/><br/>As far as drinks go, I only had a couple of beers, but the ladies at the table said the cocktails were nice enough, albeit overpriced.<br/><br/>The service was like the food: average. There was nothing wrong with our waitress. The food didn’t take too long. The place was too crowded. So, like the food, the service wasn’t great, or terrible – just unexceptional.<br/><br/>Ambiance is where Roxanne’s shines… sort of. It’s an edgy looking place with lots of neon signs, and I really liked it. The photos on social media make it seem a lot grander than it actually is however. Still, I enjoyed it. One thing that did bother me is the obvious feminist agenda of the place. I’m all for equality, but judging from their social media posts, the art and signs on the wall and the “ladies only” section, Roxanne’s target market is women. Yes, nothing is stopping you from going if you’re a man, but you’re not who they really care about.<br/><br/>In short: the place was average in every respect, but for the ambiance. I’d go back for a quick drink, and have a burger next door.

We were at Roxanne's yesterday for a birthday lunch staring at 3pm. The waitress was very good, drinks were great however on arrival we were told that we had to move from our table at 7pm because of another reservation. I was never informed of a time restriction when I made the booking on Tuesday. The food prices were a tad bit expensive for average food.

Booked a year end lunch (Dec 2017) with a business partner and there was a lot hype around this place. <br/>Service was good, decor is different but I do like it. I really wanted the food to be good but the pizza was very average and the black waffles which promised the taste of liquorice was not there was quite disappointed. We arrived at Roxanne's Rum Eatery this past week for a night cap, and were actually the only people there so it goes without saying that, all round attentive service at its best was received. <br/><br/>Interiors:<br/>In terms of the interiors, I like the contrast between the red brick face and neon signage, and which has a distinctly hipster feel to it. Roxanne's sets itself apart in the interiors department by its use of raunchy neon signs that at first glance, have quite a shock factor, and as such makes it not for the more conservative patrons or your typical family dinner.  <br/><br/>Food:<br/>Roxanne's menu is an eclectic mix of naughtily named meals and drinks that tie in with their themed interiors with offerings such as the 'Raunchy Roxie' breakfast or 'Meet between the Sheets' lasagne. <br/>I cannot comment on the food yet as during this quick first visit, as we only sampled their ample selection of rums, but our drinks were spot on and I found the barmen really knowledgable when making recommendations to us. <br/><br/>Full review to follow as soon as I have returned to sample the food..<br/> <br/><br/>For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

After much hype from my friend I finally got to go to Roxannes. I could instantly see people rave about it; it's incredibly well themed! the pin-up girls, neon text-lighting and the overall feel is great to look at. I love the fact that the menus are split - the drinks menu with many weird and wonderful creations. on the food side, things were no different, never before seen takes on burgers, tacos, steaks, etc. I was looking forward to this indeed!<br/><br/>But this is where the problem comes in; whist the service was spot the food is nowhere nearly as nice as it sounds on the menu. naturally I had to have the burger and although the black bun wowed me, I was left wanting when I actually dug in. couple this with some of the ridiculous drink prices and it's not exactly cheap.<br/><br/>A good attempt at something different but ultimately tries to do too many things and somewhat fails.

What a treat this was! I was looking for a nice place for a girls night out and decided to try something new. <br/>Roxanne's was definitely such a good choice. We had a great time.The service was very fast, efficient and friendly.<br/>We all had the grapefruit G&T on tap that came in a quirky tin... it had a bit of a gingery flavour to it that not everyone would like.<br/>I had the pulled pork tacos and there was more than enough to eat. One serving was made up of 3 soft tacos. My friend had the steak that was a huge portion. The place is just a little pricey... To close off the night we had the honeycomb cheesecake that was very sweet but also so amazing!<br/>I will definitely be back to try something new on the menu.

Very interesting set up, funky drinks to have, extremely busy, you can see it’s the newest must be place in fourways so seriously crowded. My partner had the blackened burger and he looooved it, it was totally different to anything we have seen before, I had soft shell tacos. It was average. I didn’t finish my meal and that isn’t like me

So chuffed with this place. Delicious food, great vibe and even better service! The Deep Fried Mac and cheese is such a win!!!! Go team Roxanne’s 👌🏼

I don’t know how people have given this place a bad review, I can with all certainty say IGNORE them. The vibe and decor is second only to the unbelievable food. Wholesome and delicious comfort food. The staff are friendly and highly professional. What a lekker place.

Ok. So after living in Cape Town for 10 years, I recently relocated to Johannesburg. And when looking through the options of places to eat, Roxanne's Rum Eatery struck me as an interesting, hole-in-the-wall, slightly edgier spot. Now, this genre has been my go-to for years...but its just not quite the same here. The place is slightly too bright for my liking, and sits on a parking lot. The decor itself is quite cool, but it almost feels like a funky spot crossed with a Spur. Sorry...(feel really bad writing that). In saying so, I had the Deep Fried Mac n Cheese- which I was really, really impressed by. The service was incredible- quick, friendly, and the waiter kept calling me by my name (a very nice touch). The house prosecco was a bit flat...as are my feelings about this spot. It's cool, but not really...if you know what I mean.

Roxanne Rum Eatery is one of the must visit restaurants in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been there many times and each time I loved the food and the good vibe at the restaurant. The vegetarian options are also good and you really feel the quality and the presentation of the food is awesome. Desserts are made with activated carbon which is good for health and tasty too. Awesome vibe, food was divine with stunning presentations. The drinks were different with syringes, first time seeing that!!! <br/><br/>The service was awesome and staff absolutely friendly. Our waiters name was Steve Austin which we definitely had a good laugh. <br/><br/>Overall I would come back anytime. Great place for birthdays as well!!

Food was great, service was lacking. Cocktails were rather “weak “. Lovely decor ... really nicely done. I found this place beautifully unique. I liked their very selective menu. I had the squid heads pizza. It was delicious although I found the toppings rather sparse. Had to flag down the wait staff multiple times but this wasn’t a major issue as we were not in a rush (or very hungry)...although I could see this being a problem. I would rate this place average at best.

Had the most fantastic dinner with friends. The atmosphere is fun and the waiters are excellent, ours had a brilliant sense of humour and just added to making the night memorable. We ordered a meat platter for the table as a starter and it was delicious. The chips is smothered in a cheese sauce and the ribs are crumbed, soooooo good. The cocktails were also very nice. Ignore any bad reviews, go try it for yourself

What a concept! I love it! Roxanne's vibe, decor and drinks menu is what is good about it...the food unfortunately is a let down. Menu options limited and between the tacos, fried food and pizza didn't deliver to the same level as ambience and vibe. The sharing platters looked great though...will choose those in future!<br/><br/>For drinks, a definitely must. A great spot for a party. Based on my experience, not for foodies though... but will I go back to try it again? Yeah! At least they serve their tequilas ICE cold! <br/><br/>

Wow! I absolutely loved this place! The cocktails are exceptional. I started with prosecco on tap then quickly moved on to a grapefruit G&T on tap. It was incredible! The service was very attentive and friendly. The meals are very, very generous - expect large portions - the food is delectable. We tried the chicken and waffles, which are amazing and the squid and curly fries. The fries are so good and the squid was perfectly crispy and flavored very well. The vibe is great and everyone seems really festive and friendly. My one concern is that when we were there it was raining outside and patrons were standing at the entrance of the restaurant, which is covered -and smoking - with the smoke blowing back into the restaurant. I'm really not that affected by smoke but my dining partners were and were getting really annoyed with the smoke to the extent they felt it was ruining our meal, but to be fair it is also a violation of smoking laws to smoke in a covered area so I would be more worried for the restaurant in this case, also the people at the table next to us had a baby and the smoke kept blowing back into the area, right around the baby. We did ask one of the waiters to please close one of the doors at least to block some of the smoke but if they allow patrons to smoke at the entrance - it means the restaurant has to close the doors and that would make it really stuffy and uncomfortable for the diners inside, I'd assume it's also putting the restaurant at risk to violate these laws. I would have definitely given this place a 5 out of 5 if not for the smoking.<br/> <br/>Oh and try the homemade Tabasco sauce - It's fierce!

I looked this restaurant up after someone sent me a pic of one their cocktails. Couldn’t find a menu on the web so I decided to go there anyway.<br/><br/>The drink menu is wider than their food menu. I was not disappointed by the choice of my cocktails, yes I had 3 😄. Bettie Page is a must try and the Sukki Singapore is not for sissies cos it’s quite spicy so if you have heartburn I would not go for this.<br/><br/>Being a pescatarian I found the choice of seafood dishes minimum so I went for the bunless veggie burger which was okay.<br/><br/>Overall I found the service to be excellent, cocktails delish however the food was average.<br/><br/>The house run sauce is really nice.

If you looking for something a little different and vibey - Great spot. Good cocktails, nice decor and loved the themed waiter names as for the food so average. Really a variation of burgers and pizzas. Must say the dishes are beautifully presented but the taste was average at best. I would say this a venue more for drinks and a catch up then dinner

In December last year, prior to the holidays, I visited Roxanne’s Rum Eatery. Having heard much about the newly opened establishment in Fourways – notorious for the presentation of their ‘spiked’ shakes and risqué décor – I’d been looking forward to giving them a try for myself.

The Beer House located right next door have a loud but fantastic live band on a Sunday. We asked the manager to please turn the music off as It was really annoying and noisy listening to Roxanne’s music and the live band simultaneously. The answer was we can’t, I don’t believe this is true. We love Roxanne’s but won’t be back!

I love this place, it’s got a great vibe - although the music does tend to transition into a deep rave where I think the decor speaks more to old school rock... <br/>The waiters are fantastic and the food is beautifully presented. When last I visited we had the absolutely delicious bunless veggie burgers! Could’ve used a little more of the paprika mayo, but otherwise perfectly appetizing.<br/>Come hungry - the portions are made to share, or for takeaways ;)

After hearing so much about this new spot in Fourways, I had to try it! I went on a weekday afternoon with a friend, it was not full at all which meant that we could pick a nice place to sit. The overall look of the restaurant is amazing - the decor is super quirky & cool. The waitresses are all given 'alter-ego' names of celebrities, which I found very cool. We were helped quite quickly, but our waitress did become a bit slow as the day went on. We would have to request her to take our food orders etc. I ordered the beef tacos as per her suggestion & I really did not enjoy them - the sauce they were made in was just not to my taste. My friend order their squid & curly fries, which were so much better than my meal & I thoroughly enjoyed the taste I got from those. They have a good selection of their signature cocktails, of which I chose a Corona based drink mixed with ginger beer - it comes in a big, cool-looking jug. This was a very refreshing & tasty drink. This was an overall good experience & I would come again in hopes that I would enjoy my meal more. The vibe of the place is definitely enough to make me come back.

I happened to be in Fourways today just to kill time when I discovered this Rum Eatery. The service is exceptional, starting off with the manager and my wonderful waitress. I got there at 11:20 so the kitchen wasn't open yet but the manager offered me a seat inside and I got to even order myself a drink. The drinks menu is very much for those who love liquor as most of the drinks are spiked with alcohol. This can be a bit unfortunate if you prefer virgin drinks but they do offer virgin alternatives.<br/>I wanted to order breakfast because it was the cheapest on the menu. The cheapest meal by the way is R65.00 but they don't serve breakfast on Monday-Wednesday. This was rather annoying because I do love breakfast and brunch meals. I ordered the Pulled Pork Taco and it wasn't that great. The taco was too chewy , the pork was not well seasoned and the added coriander which over powered the flavour of the taco. The guacamole was really good though.<br/>I think that I'm going to come here for the drinks and with more money in my pocket next time.<br/>Also they do have other non-alcoholic beverages like your Cokes and Fanta at a cheaper price.

HAVE THE TACOS! The manager told us they are not typical tex-mex style tacos, but have a more doughy, soft tortilla and a different style. They were delicious, and so unique. The rum cocktails are really good and the dark and stormy on tap is delicious and light, if you prefer something less sweet. Our waitress was super friendly and always popping around to check on us. We had a super lunch and I can’t wait to go back. But seriously... tacos.

13.01.2018 A friend booked this spot to celebrate her birthday with a bunch of people. I've had this on my 'to eat' list since they opened. The place was completely packed and there was at least 4 people celebrating their birthdays in the venue. As a result it was kinda cramped and hectic and service was a bit of a let down. We had platters of food to share to start, vegetarian and lovely meaty platters. The Food was quite nice and a reasonable variety. I didn't get a chance to order anything else as ordering a drink proved problematic. In the end I gave up and just drank water. I think they need to get more waiters on board especially if they know they have booked big groups. <br/><br/>They do make the birthday person feel special in how the staff help celebrate and the BIG dessert they bring with. <br/><br/>Would like to go again and check out the menu properly. They do have a nice variety for drinks. We had the Tipo Tinto Sharing jugs, which seems to be in the "In" drinks at eateries. <br/><br/>All in all, it was a great evening spent celebrating amongst friends.

We went to Roxannes last night for a friend's birthday, half of our table sent their food back because it was served cold, the other half was too hungry to send their cold food back. I ordered the chicken strips Taco, it was very bland. They were short staffed as well, so our waiter was not able to give us the level of service that you would expect, we had to go find our own cutlery after waiting for quite some time for the waiter to bring this. Won't be rushing back that's for sure.

So we're running out of restaurants to visit in jhb.... Someone mentioned Roxannes... I'm glad they did. The cocktails are amazing. The vibe and atmosphere is unbeatable. And the food is really good and way above my expectations. We've been back 3 times since and will definetely be back again. Nice work guys.

The venue is a stunning set up. The finishes are absolutely instagrammable. Food dishes all look like artwork. Loved it! Try their chicken and waffles with extra butterscotch syrup.

Roxannes is a welcome new restaurant that has a lovely atmosphere and awesome decor. We had the goth burger and pulled pork tacos which were tasty and well presented. We did however ask for a side of fries as the amount presented with the burger was on the small side. Although there is a sign stating that smoking is not allowed, a table not far from us had several smokers. The smoke occasionally wafted over our table which was very unwelcome. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and wish Roxannes the best of luck!

Trust me, Love me, Feed me<br/><br/>Now that we have your attention, then this place with truly grab it as well.<br/><br/>As this is a bar that specializes in rum, we had to get the full experience and this we sure did. Let's start off with their signature shots and their intricate cocktail by saying that their shots are not just different and delicious, but also HUGE. These are like those small fruit juice glasses you get at an open breakfast buffet. The cocktails were great for quenching your alcoholic thirst, mixed to perfection for pure deliciousness. We just want to give props to Roxannes for their use of properly fancy glassware. None of this R5 glasses from the Crazy Store, but proper glasses that actually looked like Waterford's Crystal collection.<br/><br/>Aaahhh the food. Want something different? Want something interesting and delicious? Then what are you waiting for? Roxannes' food was absolutely scrumptious. We started off with Citrus Marinated Skirt Steak Tacos, layed open on in-house hand-pressed soft corn tacos with fresh ingredients. If you love Mexican food then this is surely for you. Then we went for something that everyone has to at least try once in their life, the Goth Burger. Very interesting, black buns filled with a juicy patty, streaky bacon, pink slaw, mustard mayo, tomato and cheddar cheese. Not too much, not too little, and served with a side of greens and a bunch of small crispy curly fries. We licked our plates clean people.<br/><br/>Obviously we did not stop there. We had to have some dessert as well. So we grabbed the oh so rich Oreo Cheesecake and their signature Black Waffles, get ready for some blackened lips and look-like-you-did-crack looking teeth with this great evening ender. Definitely worth the try folks. Don't forget about their Adult Freakshakes where you can spike your own shake with some of your favourite liquors.<br/><br/>Our waitress was friendly and very helpful to keep our thirst quenched and she wasn't at all shy in recommending what to order, very helpful indeed. She was a bit anally retentive about the menus in terms of how we handle them or if we put our drinks on them etc, which we thought was a bit crazy, but after asking about it we immediately understood why. Their menus are very expensive to print and it's the writer's responsibility to take care of them. Asking clearly goes a long way.<br/><br/>This place sure has a great vibe to it, you walk in and it is buzzing, friendly, and comforting. All thanks to the staff, the lighting and definitely the murals they have all over. If you are a lady, don't forget to check out the one in the ladies room, wink wink. The music is also great as it is there but not overpowering, you don't have to scream at each other, but also, you never sit in silence. They had a really nice vibe. Went there for drinks. Sservice was good, waiters were friendly.and attentive eveen though they were quite full.

We popped in for lunch and were met with a hip, happening atmosphere - clearly, word has spread about this spot. The decor is a big talking point. Service was great. Our drinks were fair - some of the cocktails on tap. Perhaps it would be a good idea to increase the volume per glass as they’re a bit pricey and I couldn’t taste any alcohol in my Mojito. The fish cake salad and fish and curly fries were tasty, I’m told. My chicken and waffles drew interested glances from other patrons. My trip to the bathroom was another interesting experience. All in all, a pleasant afternoon.

Loved this place. I was skeptical at first but the drinks were AMAZING! OMG the food was good as well. Good place to go and have drinks before going out to dance 😉

What an amazing and welcoming environment buzzing with creativity and fun energy. The waitrons, hosts and bar persons were SO friendly. For the rum lovers out there, this is the place to be.<br/><br/>I had a 'Rum and Raspberry' cocktail on tap!!!! There are a list of flavors to choose from. Did I mention it is on tap? They also get served in a decorated tin, that you get to keep:-).<br/><br/>Having had a quick squizz at the menu, they cater for most if not all tastebuds. The way the menu has been put together explains who Roxanne is and the cleverly worded sections on the menu make it a fun reading pleasure too. There is quite a large selection, but ask the waitrons for their suggestions as they seem well trained.<br/><br/>If it is fun environment which is family friendly and get get pretty loud at night. One suggestion is to ensure you call to book and come hungry.<br/><br/>If you intending on having dessert, then save extra space. The place has been opened for some weeks now and I've been on 3 different occassions. It's a well designed space with quirky signage, bar area and dim lighting. Does appeal to the feminine market and ideal spot for girls day/night out.<br/><br/>The first visit was dinner, we had a selection of items, a pizza, a meat board and tacos. The ribs on the meat board was a hit. Finushed off with a waffle and passion fruit cheesecake of which both were equally good. Second occassion was for drinks and the adult freakshake Crimson lips was a winner. Service was excellent on both occassions. Unfortunately the third visit for breakfast was my least favourite. Orders took over an hour with restaurant having only 6 people in it and no flavour in the spicy chorizo or flapjacks. Service was also slow, if you open to serve breakfast, be consistent.<br/><br/>I'd definitely recommend this place for drinks and snacks. The night vibe is loud and trendy competing with the neighbours.

Went to Roxanne’s for lunch with my sister and we had cocktails and some of their signature meals. We ordered the deep fried Mac & Cheese and the Chicken and Waffles. Really like the space and decor. I also liked the way that they served their tequilas. Classic! I would definitely go back.

This was an interesting experience,<br/><br/>The vibe and the ambiance was infectious, the decor is great.<br/><br/>The drinks were good. (love how they're named)<br/><br/>The service was average, even though the waiters have cool Hollywood aliases. <br/><br/>The bathrooms are the best part of this restaurant.<br/><br/>As for the food, a total rip off. Everyone at our table had fries that were still raw (no apology for this). The riblets weren't cooked very well. The chicken was quite tasteless. The Goth burger and the calamari were definitely better. <br/><br/>Overall, a great place to go for a drink but rather eat somewhere with better value for money.

Really enjoyed the decor and ambiance. The food was interesting and different. I was disappointed when I ordered the black waffle and it arrived with vanilla ice cream as opposed to liquorish ice cream. Nonetheless I will be back.

I’m a fan of this place...the decor, vibe and food are awesome. Lots of the paintings are burlesque-themed and raunchy! I had a goth burger to eat...black bun, beef patty with bacon & cheese...was good! For drinks I had their cocktails on tap...lovely ginger flavour with dark rum...yum!
