One of the best chickens I've ever had! They had a fantastic special, R79 for Full Chicken and draught beer. Even the normal price (R89) for a Full Chicken is still really good value for money. Most places you won't even get a Half Chicken for that price.

Excellent food, awsome ambiance, true Portuguese restaurant. Eliza gave excellent service. Love the specials . Chocolate mousse stood a little long in the fridge though, not as fresh. Will def be back.

Looks like nothing from the outside, but once you find the entrance and go in it is is light and friendly, and the murals take you straight to Mozambique. 🇲🇿 Pleasant music and overall a relaxing atmosphere.<br/><br/>The chourico starter was good, but missed the "extras" - some garlic, pickles etc would be nice. The main was disappointing. Had the Trinchado - meat a bit tough and no real flavour. The sauce left over at the bottom of the plate was really tasty - so maybe some attention to the cooking and tenderising of the meat?<br/><br/>In an area full of Portuguese restaurants - need to up-your-game a bit to catch up and stay with the competition! <br/>

We have been going to Lusitano since long before the new owner took over. I am very impressed with the way the restaurant has been renovated. The food is always good, their steaks, espetada, and seafood, and the owner's friendliness really makes for a good overall experience. The only negative is the owner's husband. The last time we were there he arrived in a mood, proceeded to shout at the staff, and thereafter took off at my son and his friends playing pool in the bar (my kids have been playing pool there since they were tiny, and really did not know there would be a problem) What a prick!!! If you have a problem with my child, you need to speak to me and DON'T walk up to an unsuspecting teenager and stick your finger in his face and proceed to yell at him. This has caused my husband and his friend (who have been patrons for over 30 years) to refuse to set foot there ever again. If you want to serve the public, it's not only the food that matters, it is the way you treat people. I suggest that the owner teach the man some manners, or leave him at home.

Delicious meals, 5 of us each had something different and no one was disappointed. Excellent value for money and friendly staff, would definitely recommend for an authentic Portuguese meal!

Incredible prawns! One of the best I've had!!! The giblets starter could have been a little spicier, we're used to spicy chicken giblets. On a whole great food for decent prices! We'll be back!

I couldn't ask for more. The starter was amazingly good. For main I had this portuguese chicken, the baby chicken. It was soooo good. Left me wanting more. They have big portions so you can be sure to leave the restaurant full. It is definitely a must try.

Been twice now in the last two weeks, as good as Portuguese food gets, and great value for money !. Peri peri chicken, the best I've tasted, big portions and great quality.<br/>Well worth a visit to this little gem

WOW !! What a surprise!! Firstly the starters were fantastic tripe starter 10/10 and giblets 10/10.Calamari 9/10 and chorizo 9/10.<br/><br/>Main meal I had a chicken peri peri maputo style ! What can I say I was blown away soft juicy and not over spiced and nicely charred.<br/><br/>Victor my Portuguese friend had Bacalhau fish nice big piece and soft and not salty his comment was he would definitely have it again!<br/><br/>Not the best area but the restaurant is renovated and clean.<br/><br/>Worth the visit 100%

Amazing traditional Portuguese food friendly and efficient staff, the owners are hands on so service is excellent. Great vibe can enjoy a football match, Shoot some pool play some cards or just enjoy the atmosphere will always go to this Gem of the South a must for anyone who enjoys GREAT food at very reasonably priced!!!! Thank you Lusitano for being the BEST PORTUGUESE RESTAURANT in the south.
