What a hidden gem! My new friend had been raving about it, so we went for a quick catch up session after work on a Monday. We had their chicken and prawns with chips, salad and veg. Their sauce is hot but delicious!! Morish! I bought the sauce to go and my other friend says she could bath in it!! Highest praise from an Indian who loves hot sauce! Can't wait to go back! There was enough left over for lunch the next day

21/6/2016 18 of us went for a Farewell Lunch. What a disappointment. We were the only table inside the restaurant, yet, the service was absolutely appalling. The waiters did not know who the orders belonged to for delivering. The food was shocking. A few times now I decided never to go back there, but this was the last time. I had the most awful oxtail ever. It seems like everything is frozen and has to be warmed up as it took over an hour to deliver our meals. Not Good at all, no wonder nobody goes there anymore. It was awfully quiet for a Wednesday lunchtime. You need to pull up your socks or you will loose all your clients

We've been to Cesco's quite a few times and it has always been a great Portuguese restaurant/pub. My last visit at this establishment was sadly, not a great one. The standards have dropped tremendously.<br/><br/>We decided to go there for a birthday dinner. I wasn't too hungry so I decided to share a dish with my sister. We settled on the Crumbed Filleted Chicken Breast, which was supposed to be served with rice (very strange), salad and a cheese sauce. We asked our waitress if we could swap the rice for chips and we asked if we could get a mushroom sauce instead of a cheese sauce. When the food arrived, there were two rather large chicken fillets on the plate and we were served just enough mushroom sauce to cover half of one of the fillets. At this point, my sister asked if we could get more sauce and we were told that it was finished and that we would be charged extra for the sauce. Our waitress then ended up bringing us some of the cheese sauce, which I must say, was pretty average. The cherry on top of the cake for me was finding pieces of cartilage in my chicken fillet, which was enough to put me off my meal.<br/><br/>We did mention that we weren't very happy with our meal and our waitress just shrugged her shoulders and carried on as normal. A very disappointing experience from a place that had so much potential. I don't think I'll be going back to Cesco's in a hurry!

This is our go to around the corner resturant. We always have the peri-peri chicken and the prawns. They make thier peri peri in house and it is amazing. I have yet to taste better peri peri sauce in johannesburg. Portions are generous and food is fresh. Sitting outside is much better as inside feels quite dark and dingy.

Use to be a very nice place,<br/><br/>Service is very bad now and there is no stock of most of the Alcohol. <br/>The food is always burnt.<br/>The restaurant is always empty. <br/>The manager always chases the customers out around 9pm, the place used to close later before.

If I could rate a negative 5, I would. What an absolutely terrible experience. I am waiting here (as I have been for the last 30 minutes) for my bill. I have been severely cheeked by the "manager". They have no orange juice, hunters, dry lemon, flying fish, no soap in their bathrooms and an all round general air of nonchalance. While I finish writing this - I am still waiting for a credit card machine and about to walk out without paying. I'm shaking I'm so angry. What an absolutely appalling day.

Casual restaurant.Prego roll not bad, add the peri peri sauce for fire.The potato wedges not that good,bit on oily side.Salad fresh comes ready with dressing,which some would not like. Place needs a bit of sprucing up,dark and dingy.

As a lover of Portuguese cuisine I decided to give Cesco's a go. For starters I opted for the grilled calamari , with the Lemon butter sauce. Although it was quite enjoyable, the calamari could have been much more tender. The chicken and prawn combo like wise was good but not great ! Their peri-peri sauce does packs a punch , however what makes a good peri peri sauce enjoyable is that it packs a punch with flavor , the latter was missing . The prawns were average but of decent size. One cannot help but think if it weren't for the lovely lemon butter sauce , it would be pretty mediocre and bland. Service is average probably because we were unfortunate in getting a relatively new waiter. It's a great venue to enjoy decent food whilst watching your favorite sports team ! I'm not particularly keen on the area which I find a bit dingy, but nonetheless it's worth a visit. Prices are reasonable!

Relaxed venue, which is perfect for an easy night out.<br/>They have some drink specials some evening which can be great fun. <br/>Their food potions are big, however nothing special. I ordered the 10 medium prawns, they were tiny and flavorless. Oh so bland! <br/>My husband had the chicken peri peri, he enjoyed his meal.<br/>Our service was consistent and good. <br/>

Asked Zomato for a Portugese restaurant in Jhb and happy with the recommendation. Informal and relaxed setting. Limited choice of wine and pricy. The food however was very good! Tasty and liberal helpings. Pure Porra cuisine :) <br/>

Excellent value for money R120 all you can eat Espatada.  Driving to Cescos Kelvin for the 1st time in my life, I must say I was a little wary about the area it is located in, but once I arrived it felt warm and inviting. The Espatada is done outside on the grill and you can help yourself to salad/rolls and potato wedges.  The pork neck Espatada was my favourite and I was pleasantly surprised that it had been smokes to give the sweet gammon flavour.  Staff was super friendly and accommodating.  I will definitely recommend Cescos Kelvin.

Been to Cesco's on a number of occasions, they have great Portuguese flavoured "pub" food. I had the lamb shank which dropped off the bone, and melted in your mouth. On Sundays they have a live band, with both an inside and outside seating area. <br/><br/>Cesco's is also great for a couple of drinks, with big screens available for sport

Amazing spot for a quiet sunday lunch or a friendly vibrant friday lunch. Every Wednesday there is a quiz night and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Well managed, owned and always feels like a place you can let your hair down. Live music by Amy Alexander on a Sunday sets the mood that goes with the food. Beef trinchardo a MUST!

I frequented Cesco's with a few colleagues for a Friday lunch <br/><br/>The venue was traditionally Portuguese and they had freshly made espatada's coming off a coal fire ,we passed a few tables eating them and man they were huge!<br/><br/>As we were in a bit of a hurry we went for the Portuguese staple lunch time special of a prego roll <br/><br/>The prego roll,salad and fresh cut chip accompaniments were excellent and the hot as hell peri and a garlic type dipping sauces complimented the meal well. <br/><br/>There was a decent kids play area outside should you want to bring the kids along , Service and efficiency were spot on and i would definitely recommend them for a quick bite or long lunch.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years, the service on the whole I find is good and the food is excellent, I had my 21st here and it was a smashing success, I have recommended this restaurant to all my friends and my girlfriend loves it as well. If you want sizeable portions of great food, at great value for money, you won't be disappointed

Absolutely atrocious service. We were there with a group of 43 people for end of the year office party. Had to wait for over 2 hours for the food to be served to the tables, even after advising them weeks in advance what menu we would have. Every-time we asked when food would arrive, we were told in 10 minutes. . ( NEEDLESS TO SAY , THIS WAS JUST TO KEEP US QUITE )<br/><br/>Service at the tables, was non existent, except the bar waiters asking if we would like drinks. They couldn't even offer bread and butter while we were waiting. <br/><br/>This restaurant will never see me again. signed Joel
