Review Woolworths Cafe - Johannesburg

Love it. Service is always good but there still room for improvement
Sonwabo Damba
Great experience though the gluten free options are very limited at times exhausted.
Aaron Molnar
Reasonably priced Certainly caters to the tourist public, with familiar products. Not a place, if you're looking for authentic S. Africa products
Phillipa Buckland
Decent foods section with the full range. Amazing clothing and home sections also with the full range.

Nice and pleasand Service staff with good products

They had amazing cloths but did not have what I was looking for which was a maxi dress that was modest and beautiful at the same time. It was very small as well compare to some considering that it’s in a very nice area

You can find everything Woolworth here and the service is very good
Lawrence Nhlapo
Definitely big and has a lot of departments for clothes from women to children to kids. You can do all your shopping at once...

Beautiful Woolworth shop with a clothing line as well as a supermarket in it. Fresh fruits, veggies, pastries and freshly grilled chicken of different flavours as well as pastries and pies.. Clean and staff are very professional too..

Good to mooch round. Handy to have food shopping on the lower level.

Squeeky clean, smells nice. The Security greets you nicely. Great service ❤️I'd literally live in that store 😂
George Modiba
very clean and a welcoming atmosphere
Brenda Dorren
Clean well set out, not cramped, helpful efficient staff in food hall and at the check-out section.

Ordered the veg burger from woolies, it’s mushroom and cheese type of bomb that’s crumbed into a burger - I loved it at Cedar Square and hated it at Melrose Arch. Small cold burger with minimal cheese inside and very stale tasting.

The service here is absolutely pathetic. 20 minutes gone and still waiting for a simple take away iced latte. That is absolutely atrocious. The staff are extremely rude as well. I don’t know how they’re still in business

I had initially thought that the first time I came to this WW Cafe that perhaps I had expected too much. Expectations in terms of attention to customers, attention to the order that is given them however that is not done.

Yes you do not need to baby sit the customers but at least check if they are still sitting there or not instead of me sitting there 15 min waiting for the bill ESPECIALLY if they are sitting next to the machine to print out the bill. Walk past me 10 times before the manager asked if I was still fine. No I wasn't I have been sitting here with no purpose. We cannot justify the slow service on a full shop - it wasn't even filled to half capacity.

I mainly visit this branch for a coffee or quick breakfast when I am in the area. This cafe is well positioned and easy to access. The service here is unfortunately quite slow as the waiters do not pay attention to the customers. There is a good variety of items on the menu for vegetarians to select from including cakes of the day.

We popped in for a quick lunch and the harvest table caught our eye. My boyfriend and I both got some food from the harvest table. It's convenient that the food is immediately available but it definitely looks better than it tastes. For me the veggies were a little over cooked and unsophisticated, my boyfriend also said that his meat was dry.

This Woolworths café is not bad. Service was polite and quick. I ordered a flat white with bacon 🥓, egg 🍳 & toast. It was all good. The eggs made medium, as per my order. And the bacon was made perfectly crisp.

After coming to this particular Woolworths Cafe, I understood why so many people were against WW Cafe as a whole. Slow, slow service, wrong orders delivered, and the taste was underwhelming at best. The Woolworths Cafe at Cresta is a million times better!

This may be the worst of all the Woolworths Cafes. Almost every time I've been here to eat, they haven't got the necessary ingredients to make what's listed on the menu. Service also moves at a glacial pace. Its such a pity because there's definitely the market for it in Melrose Arch and an addition of a Harvest Table would be amazing.

Having said that, I still enjoy grabbing the odd coffee or freezochino on hot summer days.

After hearing amazing things about the "Gourmet Grilled Cheese" at Woolworths Cafe, I finally went to this branch today to try it... With an overwhelming cheese craving rapidly growing over me over the last few days, now was the time. Alas, as it arrived in front of me, a confused expression spread over my face. *calls waitress over* Me: "Is this the 'Gourmet' Grilled cheese? *looking sadly at the very ordinary mozzarella filled sandwich* Waitress: "I'm not sure, I think so" to which she leaves to go and ask the chef. Turns out it was an ordinary mozzarella filled sandwich and they don't do the Gourmet anymore, even though it's still on the menu and it's what I clearly ordered. No apology. *leaves restaurant sad, disappointed, hungry and still craving cheese* Guess I'll try Rosebank next. The tap water was good. The bottle innovative. Hence 2 stars. 🙄🙄🙄

Woolies Cafe is a great option for breakfast and lunch when you are bored on similar restaurant chains and feel like some interesting food. I love their Mediterranean near platter which is great to share or tuck into on an empty stomach. Their coffee dreezochinos are possible one of the best in Joburg and a cooling respite during a hot summers day in Jozi

One of the better Woolies cafes in terms of service -something that seems especially prominent at other branches. Food was good. Had a frozen lemonade and their Turkish Flatbread with hummus and chicken - great combination of flavours.

I mean it's not really a day out. You feel like a business man grabbing a snack and the food wasn't really worth the money. I guess I'm just a basic foodie who likes to eat with a vibe.

Had a lovely bite to eat while enjoying the music from outside (there was an event on). The service was friendly but would not let us sit outside on a glorious sunny day for no reason other than 'the door is locked' which was a trifle disappointing. I went with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed delicious coffee. He has the cheesecake which is out of this world and I had a coconut and white chocolate slice which was tasty but slightly insipid. Still it is a lovely cafe and great for a quick meal.

Popped into the Woolworths cafe for breakfast this morning and was greatly disappointed. I've eaten here before and the burger was pretty good, so I was looking forward to sampling the breakfast menu.

I ordered the breakfast bun and requested the bacon be replaced with macon or beef sausage and I was told they do not have any meat replacement for pork?? I had to settle for mushrooms or avocado which sucks especially when you're looking forward to an egg breakfast with some kind of meat. I'm sorry but that's super pathetic to not have substitutes for pork on a limited and pork filled breakfast menu. The waitress forgot to ask us how we wanted our eggs and although I'm not too fussy about that it would have been nicer to have a soft poached egg as opposed to well done. The menu also indicated a carrot puree all I got was a bun with mayo a bit of kale and an egg; and the replacement mushrooms on the side.

This was a pretty lame experience, but my previous lunch experience is the only reason I'd ever return.

Extremely unpleasant experience - took ages to place an order. Mocha coffee came lumpy with chocolate not mixed in properly. It took over 30min to get a toasted sandwich with then arrived un-toasted - bread was soggy and fell apart. A lot of time to waste to have to leave hungry. Definitely not a quick convenient stop in between shopping.

Small but still spacious, was very busy on a Friday afternoon. Had a very quick in and out meeting but this vegetable soup with a dollop of pesto, stopped the conversation. R35 and as big as a bath tub - literally I don't think the pictures do it justice. Service was a little slow especially on bringing the bill but would return for this soup any day.
Kat :)
Pleasant lunch, pleasant atmosphere, pleasant service... But not extraordinary. Pity that there's no harvest table, we were quite looking forward to that.

The woolies cafe in melrose arch is possibly my favourite of all woolies cafe. For breakfast, lunch or tea time, there's always a reason to visit. My favourite breakfast is toast with peanut butter and jelly, a hazelnut latte or a white hot chocolate. Woolies make the BEST white hot chocolate - it is always SO creamy and so yummy.

SURPRISINGLY POOR | SMALL PORTIONS

Went for a quick Friday lunch and was not impressed. Ordered a tea - out of stock. Ordered a smoothy - not available. So ended up asking for water.
Ordered the gourmet toasted cheese with bacon and tomatos. The sandwich was delicious but such a small portion for R52. I was left hungry after.
The waitress didn't seem too concerned with us as I had to ask twice for the bill before I received it.

Definitely not what I expected from Woolworths. Won't return in a hurry. Rather spend the money at Tasha's next door.

#JustEnjoy

When the sun decides to shy away, leaving a blanket of clouds in its place - I naturally want to be comforted with a hot beverage. As I was indulging in some retail therapy, I found myself sniffing a rather rich and intoxicating smell. It was a mixture of cinnamon, vanilla and almond.

As I approached the smell, my nostrils were positively satisfied. I investigated where the source of my frantic inhaling was coming from, and I finally found the source: Woolworths Cafe. Regardless of the fact that there was a rather long queue ahead of me, I was determined to sample what I had been profusely smelling.

I ultimately went with a chai latte and in no less than five minutes my tastebuds were also satisfied. Unlike some places, their hot beverages are not watered down and bland. Every sip is heightened from the last.

Didn't have a great experience at W Cafe today. While the food and drink tasted good, and the service was alright, we were unable to order more than 3 items on the menu- due to them being out of stock. Completely ridiculous, considering that there was an adjoining Woolworths store to the cafe. The portion sizes were also rather disappointing. I did enjoy the Gingerbread latte though. Lovely winter drink.

Great place to meet for a coffee or lunch with friends, finding myself in W Cafes more and more nowadays, great coffees and lovely service and the decor is great

I was never drawn to these outlets before but I decided to give it a try when I couldn't get a table at my usual spot. I ordered the stir fried beef and boy was I blown away, it was delicious. Also had one of their smoothies to go, I'm a regular now.

My hunt for great sushi around the Greenstone area continued with a visit to the Woolwoths Cafe.

I was very impressed that they actually have a station dedicated to the sushi chefs. Loved the great selection of various sushi dishes available and they are slightly cheaper. The sushi was yummy as well. One gripe I have with these takeaway sushi dishes is the very limited amount of soy sauce that they give you.

I have been a couple of times at the Woolworths Cafè for coffee but this morning I just decided to have something to eat. I didn't crave for my usual bites from Tasha's or Grand Central so I decided to give the café a go. I ordered from their breakfast menu and by all means I wasn't dissapointed at all. It was it worth it.

I think Woolworths Cafe in Melrose Arch is definitely an under-appreciated spot that easily gets ignored simply because it can be difficult to notice on the corner. Having been there a few times for lunch I can safely say their service is great and their menu, while on the smaller side compared to some of their neighbors, still has a great range of options. I've always appreciated their sandwiches and burgers, however the downside is that they've been out of stock of a number of things on the days that I've been there. Still worth a visit though, especially if you're looking to escape the long lines its neighboring restaurants may attract and get right down to the business of eating.

Just had an amazing watermelon salad - the combo of candied feta, mixed leaves, cucumber and quinoa goes very well on a hot day like today. I am not a fan of mixed balsamic and olive oil, so perhaps provide them separately. I am going to frequent Woolies cafe for this meal.

I also tried a frozen lemonade (mint and cucumber flavour). Very refreshing and perfect flavour.

The new menu looks exciting and appealing, especially the addition of exotic teas.

I am such a Woolies cafe fan! The best place to pop in for a quick, wholesome lunch and a good cup of coffee. The staff are always friendly and it has a nice busy atmosphere.

Great for a quick bite whilst shopping at Melrose Arch. Service is decent. Ok as a breakfast or snack venue. The Coffee is quite good. Enjoyable enough.

Service is always good. The waitress was very friendly and we did not have to wait long for our food. My mom had the chicken liver salad, she said it was average, and they did not mention chicken liver had a batter on it. She said it was not as nice as she has had it before at other woolies. I had the italian toastie with tomato and basil. This was really nice, enjoyed it a lot! The carrot cake is absolutely delicious, moist and the icing is a great cream cheese mixture. Definitely recommend the cake.

Its always going to be a tough sell to convince your friends to go to Woolworths Cafe when you are surrounded by fantastic restaurants like Tashas, Grand Central and Rocomamas but I must say that the Woolworths Cafe holds its own. The prices are reasonable and the food is well prepared. The coffee is that Woolworths quality that we've all become accustomed to.

The Woolworths Cafe is very good. The manager and staff are very good and the coffee is fantastic. I would definitely go back again in my opinion and you get to sit outside and enjoy the sun .

Woolies is woolies: you kinda know that quality is a given and that familiar yumminess is the name of the game. Nothing groundbreaking about what's on offer but it's all good. Harvest table damn expensive though for what is essentially a buffet....

I really like the variety offered on the drinks and food menu at Woolies Cafe. It really has something for everyone: from the sweet fan to the more health conscious, regardless of your choice, you'll know everything is served using fresh Woolies ingredients. Before or after a shop at the store you can easily pop in for a visit to the cafe. I have never had a bad experience in dealing with the staff either.

Disappointed by the service today - was slow, and the waitress made it seem like we were doing her a disservice. The food was ok, although a friend ordered a sandwich with chorizo on, and the chorizo was substituted with bacon with no mention of this. Then we wanted to split bill, but the waiter would not allow this. Have always loved this Woolworths but will not be going back.

I will start by saying I love Woolworths and have been to the Rivonia , Nicolway and the new Dainfern cafes, great food. This outlet served stale sour dough sandwiches, my corn fritters were doughy and just looked like it missed something. Apart from this, two adults were denied ordering the chicken nuggets as a side as we were not children. It was a weekday lunch but somehow I feel let down by the lack of quality, in addition chorizo was substituted with bacon and served with no mention of it. Least they could have done was advised of this and that the breads and that fritters are not freshly made. Wont return to this outlet.
Kashmeera Kanji
One of the best places to get fresh food suited to a clean diet. They always accommodate my vegan diet by changing items on their menu to suit me. I love their fresh smoothies and veggie juices. I keep going back!

A nice, quiet venue for a Saturday morning breakfast.

My omelette (avo, chargrilled corn, chicken instead of bacon) was cooked to perfection) and my gingerbread latte was the business.

Service was great, kitchen was a tad slow but otherwise a worthy meal for the price.

Truly disappointed by the lack of thought on the menu. No one makes nachos worse than woolies.it is bland, flavorless and it is not worth spending money on something that even a kid can put together. After complaining, the manager did replace my meal with a vegetarian penne pasta dish that was pleasant. The service was good. I doubt I will visit woolies cafe again for a meal

Woolworths Cafe is great for a quick breakfast or lunch, and is the least busy place on the Melrose Arch Piazza.
The food here is of the usual great Woolworths quality.
The service can be a bit sluggish if they are slightly busier than normal.
I'd recommend trying out the Frosted Latte which is delicious, and either the Honeyglazed bacon and chicken with honey mustard mayo with avo sandwich on rye or the Salmon & cream cheese on rye.

For more reviews, check out: http://lexieats.tk/

Woolworths is known never to compromise on the quality of their products - you can taste this for yourself at their cafés.

A good place to go for a quick breakfast or a light lunch - think salads and sandwiches.

The interior is understated and there aren't waiters running around like at most other restaurants in Melrose.

The coffee here is excellent and the baristas aren't afraid to customize your hot drink for you on your request.

A nice place for a solo excursion as it is tucked away on the piazza and not filled with noisy diners.
