Review Dros Midrand - Johannesburg

I recently visited Carlswald Lifestyle Shopping Centre and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options available, particularly when it comes to dining, fitness, and parking. The shopping centre boasts a great selection of restaurants and cafes, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or a sit-down meal with friends, there are plenty of options to choose from. The gym at Carlswald Lifestyle Shopping Centre is also impressive, with modern equipment and facilities that are well-maintained. I appreciated the convenience of being able to work out and then grab a healthy meal or smoothie at one of the nearby cafes. Parking was also a highlight of my visit, as there were plenty of spaces available and the layout was easy to navigate. I didn't have to worry about circling around for ages to find a spot, which made my shopping experience much more enjoyable. While there were a few stores that I would have liked to see included, the range of options available was still impressive. The attention to detail in the design and decor of the shopping centre also added to the overall ambiance. Overall, I had a great experience at Carlswald Lifestyle Shopping Centre and would definitely recommend it to others. If you're looking for a shopping destination that offers a great selection of stores, restaurants, and fitness options, as well as ample parking, this is definitely worth checking out.

We visited spar at carlswald recently . It is nearer to our house so went there for some groceries shopping. The rates were quite economical only. But since we visited on a weekend it was a bit crowded. But you have enough parking places all the time.

Got the essential stores. The Spar and tops is a bit intense to shop in. Food places mochachos is the main takeaway spot. Cofi, Cubana lounge are the local clubbing spots. MrP and Virgin active. Nice centre over all. Ample parking and dischem is located here and other medical facilities.

A very good centre, with one of the better gyms in Midrand. Carlswald Centre does not only give you a safe environment to do your shopping, but offers quite a few dining spots for your family or friends. Come visit yourself! We do have Tops after all

Convenient stop. Unfortunately, there are no shade parking, unless late afternoon on Sheetstreet side. What puts me off are the demanding car guards, nowhere to be seen when looking for a parking, but the moment you leave, it's like a bee hive. In Covid time, one of them blew their nose on my driver's window.

Very busy place but somehow it's enjoyable.

Eat, chill and good music.. Love the place.. Gets overcrowded when thers a well known artist coming.. 🔥

I went there with my workmate. Brighton was serving us. Service was great. We had chicken livers, they were terrible. Home cooked meal taste better than what I experienced.

Poor service, horrible cold food reheated hard chips. Manager has a bad attitude! Many other options around<br/>Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

The staff were helpful and pleasant.. however the breakfast I ordered the sausages smelt off... maybe it’s the ingredients but I didn’t feel safe eating it just the mushrooms and toast and eggs. The chips were like wood also re heat from day before I suspect.. but they didn’t charge me so that was nice of them.

This was a terrible experience. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive. Order 2 fillet steaks to be done medium and they arrived cold. Not luke warm, but COLD. The pepper sauce ordered came later and was actually a mushroom sauce. If there was no stars I would have rated it 0. Only 4 tables occupied and non existent service.<br/>

Had a work lunch farewell function. Despite only three or four tables being occupied, the service was non existent. Not a waiter or manager in sight. Food was below average. Special guest food was sent back as it was burnt. Wine selected “ had not been delivered yet” The malva pudding was chewy and rubbery. We have been utilizing this establishment for business lunches for the last ten years but no more.<br/>

Calamari special was just terrible.rubbery and tough.<br/><br/>Steak was great, waiter being Zimbabwean and understanding wine pairings was awesome, worthy of R 500 tip.<br/><br/>

Service is slow,food is below average ,I had the prawn and steak combo,prawns were dry and overcooked.This restaurant has a perfect location,however the poor food and service does not warrant my return.

Stay away from the seafood, it was not fresh and I got food poisoning. The place is a maze. Its a bar... just drink here, save yourself the disappointment

We ordered the ribs and steak combo. Food was cooked well. Ribs were saucy. Even the hot veg; had no stones in the spinach. Steak was tender and easy to chew. Vibe is abit sad. It's very clustered unless you sit outside. But I guess worth it if you craving ribs...also if you pay by card, there is only one machine at the front desk which means standing in line when your stomach is full.

Visited this Dros for a quick lunch. Overall the look and feel is much like any other Dros and the food is just as you would expect. I had the chicken wings which were tasty and the rest of our party enjoyed their meals too.

The Dros in midrand is a decent place to go to. While this was my first time eating here, we only came here to watch some soccer. I ordered a burger while my friends had pizza and a seafood platter. The burger was good, cooked really well but lacking in other areas and the pizzas we also pretty decent. The seafood platter had mixed reviews as some things were good while others were poor. Overall a decent meal at a decent price

Nope nope nope .... yes your burger was good, but it's not the cleanest establishment I've ever been to and that literally leaves a bad taste in the mouth, clean up or ship out. Also waiting for the bill for 20 minutes made it even worse. Not good enough guys, don't be those people who depend on Franchise Name to get you by. Epic fail

Such a good atmosphere here. I've had countless drinks and dinners here. Very cosy laid back place for friends or family. Nice spot to watch a match too

Not sure how I felt about this place, I wasn't sold on the food. It wasn't a particularly busy night but the service wasn't that great. We tried the livers as a starter and were thoroughly disappointed, the bread had an offish taste but our waitress wasn't anywhere to be found. The sauce was good but not the livers🤔 which was weird. I had a steak, very basic and he had a steak as well. We both didn't finish our meals but I guess our expectations weren't so high. There were only 2 of us yet she brought all our food at the same time. Starters and mains😱. Overwhelming to say the very least

Well, what can I say.... we ordered Lamb Shanks with Veggie sides and when it arrived, damn, we never expected this. 2 Large Lamb Shanks, Onion Rings, Salad and the Veggies for only R145ea. Well worth it and its was cooked to Perfection. Soft and Tender, Good Flavour. Had to do Take-Away, cause of the Large portion size. I will definitely recommend the Lamb Shank at Dros....

Friday night drinks here are fine, provided you don't go in and around month end. The standard of the food declines when it's busy. The chicken wings were dry and fillet overdone. If you insist on going there, just have drinks.

The atmosphere was pretty electric where we were sitting as there was a birthday party just around our table. Other areas of the restaurant were pretty calm and relaxed which I liked as it gave us the choice to select the type of atmosphere we wanted. So if you want something calm or exciting you'll get what you want as the restaurant is quite big. <br/><br/>The service was just good. Our waiter kept on checking on us and was helpful when we needed something. <br/><br/>The drawback of that lunch was that the glass I was given was pretty dirty. The barman should pay attention to the glasses he gives.

They have to understand that as a customer who has taken their time to make a visit to them specifically when you choose to is a lot. You get there and the service and the food are disgustingly below par. The staff is not friendly. The manager that assisted me tried although it wasnt enough. If you want just a drink at the bar while watching sport this joint is fine. But don't go there with your family or friends for dinner or a big meal. You will be very dissapointed

Disappointing food. The fish was not done well at all. Waiters were bit rude. Was charged extra, without informing for some extra chillies asked for.

I have eaten here quite a few times. Waiters always attentive, food of good quality and great steaks. Drinks are cold, and their specials are also usually good. Not exactly fine dining, but it is a family restaurant and this is Midrand after all. Waaaay better than the Spur.

Constantly being asked "either order food or give me the menus" didn't impress me. Food is average and always get far from the best service here. Also needing the the glasses for another beer doesn't impress also. Great atmosphere at the bar for sporting events though.

First and foremost, it's the Dros... so coming here expecting anything BUT the Dros is just silly and not to mention setting yourself up for inevitable disappointment. If however, you're looking to have a drink or 5 then you've come to the right place. The service isn't exactly outstanding but the drinks are cold and hey, you can be as loud as you like. Also... they have quiz nights on Tuesdays but just a heads up... if you order a plate of chips, be sure to ask your (seemingly unhappy that you're bothering her) waitress to take it easy with the sodium chloride.

What was supposed to be a celebration turned out to be a disaster!!<br/>We made a booking for a company function, they did not prepare the tables and seating before we arrived. The service was BAD orders were lost, confused, did not get to the table with side dish or sauce. One steak had to be send back to be replaced, and still they could not get it right!.  Needless to say we were changed for the steak, although it was send back a second time.  The manager was told about the horrible experience, on our way out, in did not seem to be really bothered.  Maybe they do this or get this every day!  This is NOTHING LIKE "MY MA SE KOS" infact nothing like anyone i know "Se KOS!!"  <br/>NS. The ladies bathroom is absolutely disgusting!!, Half the cupboard door were missing, one basin tap was faulty, leaving half the bathroom under water the whole afternoon we were there.....<br/>SIES DROS MIDRAND!!!

So a Dros is a Dros, Right? Right.<br/>The Dros in Carlswald is everything it promises to be.<br/>Cellar-themed décor with a Spur-styled menu.<br/>I generally steer away for restaurants with photos of their food on the menu - but then again - the food on the plate here generally matches what you see in the photo.<br/>Dros is known for their meat. Generally this has not disappointed.<br/>Service is generally disappointing with the waiters having perfected the art of ignoring tables for which they are not responsible.<br/>Don't go here for cuisine<br/>Don't go here for a quiet, romantic date<br/><br/>DO go here for some fairly priced fodder that you will forget by the time you hit the car park (which is a good thing!)<br/>DO go here if you like football or rugby - there are plasmas and you will hear the game played LOUDLY on the PA during games.<br/>DO go here on a Sunday night if you are stuck in Midrand and Papachino's is closed.
