Truly amazed by the freshness of the chicken in the dishes which are all really tasty. Please check out for specials on Bolt, MrD and Uber for Buy 1 get 1 Free deals. Extremely reasonable given the quality and quanity of the food. The Naans are also freshly made in comparison to other Indian restaurants. My favourites are Chicken Boti Masala, Chicken Biryani and Chicken Fried Rice - All pics below. Check for the Biryani specials on Friday. I have also added pics of the Butter Chicken and Mansoorian Chicken that I had ordered. Enjoy!

Have only ever had takeaways. Curry flavours are good. The breads are great. However very little meat in the Currys whether it's chicken or lamb. Lots of sauce but not much meat.

The bunny chow wasn't really as good as I had expected it to be, I've actually had much better. I didn't even finish it because it just wasn't that good. It was as if there was something missing or something that tasted off<br/>

The butter chicken and butter paneer were absolutely terrible. The butter sauce tasted like soup. It definitely wasn’t Indian. Very disappointed, especially after reading the amazing reviews! The vegetarian biryani and aloo and cheese paratha were quite lovely. I still wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

We tried this unassuming spot hoping for good "homestyle" curries and that's pretty much what we got. And, given the very reasonable pricing, this could immediately have set Tamarind into a neat little niche in our dining calendar. However a few too many misses (too oily chicken curry, somewhat dry mutton biryani) crept in over our two visits...leaving us a smidgeon underwhelmed.<br/><br/>The bread on offer were all amazing though (roti, naan, and aloo paratha all sampled) and this, with just enough else on offer, means we are likely to give them another go in the near future. Watch this space.<br/><br/>PS. They are also clearly still working out the quirks of food service...the (indubitably foreign) staff are all quite willing and pleasant though.

Clean, simple and neat restaurant. Roadside parking which is very convenient. They have a good range of Vegan friendly Indian food - a fresh complimentary salad for starters, aloo jeera fry with yellow dhal fry for mains. The food is so well flavored, good portions and fresh. The experiences are very consistent, I have been here many times and the food is guaranteed to be good each time.

Genuinely have the best veg curries around- absolutely adore their palak paneer- and their dhal fry is absolutely delicious. As yet to taste their non-veg dishes though, but definitely worth trying based on what I see from other reviewers.<br/><br/>They are also quite reasonably priced and the waiting period for your food is quite short if you order as a takeaway. Have never had a meal in the restaurant itself hence the rating of 4,5.

We came to Tamarind of India for a Saturday lunch. We had some samoosas to start and then Chicken Tikka Masala and Vindaloo with Naan breads for main course. It was a lot food so really good value and we really enjoyed the food. We have subsequently had the Butter chicken as a take away and also really enjoyed it!

I was skeptical about the quality when I saw the low price on the dishes via the Order In app, but I was not disappointed! Would totally recommend. Really nice veggie curries. The paneer Marsala was great and the naan wasn’t hard and dried out.

Good clean Indian cuisine that's probably as good as you're gonna get at this price in jhb, aloo and cheese paratha is a classic safe order if you're not adventurous. They could do with an air con so bear this in mind if going during a hot day

I ordered takeaway curry through Orderin. I was a bit apprehensive ordering curries from a new place. The curry was delicious. Mutton Karahi and tikka chicken. Will definitely be ordering from here again. The food was surprisingly good and the portions were decent.

Best place to eat non veg on weekends in low budget. At this place Tandoory checken is delicious and Biryani is ok which they serve with discounted price on weekends and Mombay Crush is Muuuuuuuuuiiiiuiiihahahhhh I am in love with this, whenever you will be there try it and complimentary पापड़ is unique which no other restaurant server except this.

Since I discovered this gem three weeks ago, I've been back to order weekly. We ordered to collect each time, and the food was always ready on arrival. The food is affordable and absolutely delicious! The yellow butter chicken, naan and mutton biriyani and crispy noodles are must-try's. Literally can't wait to return.

Really tasty food served up by this SANHA approved Indian eatery and the best part is you don't have to go to Fordsburg! <br/><br/>We ordered the butter chicken, chicken boti masala and roghni naan. Everything was delicious and arrived on time. The premises looked clean and the seating was comfortable. My only gripe was with the price of the drinks but other than that this was a wonderful dining experience.<br/><br/> I sincerely hope the Tamarind of India will be around for many years to come

However, after hearing some good reviews, I decided to try "Tamarind of India" on Barry Hertzog. <br/><br/>I cannot fully emphasize how highly I rate the restaurant. The food is extremely good and the service is super. I really enjoy the chicken tikka and the Chicken Boti Masala. The Beriyani is good too. Check out their weekend specials as they are great value for money! <br/><br/>An awesome little gem in our neighbourhood!
