Review Ozzy's Ktichen - Johannesburg

A delicious culinary experience for halaal conscious eaters. The waiters and staff are friendly and helpful throughout the meal. The restaurant has an amazing aesthetic appeal and if you love photos, this space offers a great feature wall

We went for dinner with a large party on a week night. Had the restaurant to our selves. Service was slightly slow but the meal was great. Fillet mignon medium rare was made perfectly. Great selection of starters and dessert. Friendly staff

We hosted my moms 70th Birthday dinner at the Rooftop Cafe and everything was up to standard. The decor was out of this world. The food was top class. The service was outstanding. The waiters were amazing and oh so friendly. They catered to our every need. Our guests could not stop raving about everything. A big thank you to the entire team for absolutely everything.

Very lovely place, and the food was sufficient. The mocktails could be bigger, but they're still really tasty

Returned to Rooftop several times, even during their construction phase. They have high standards for service, quality food and a fine dining experience. The rack of ribs was succulent, tasteful and fell off the bone. Everything else was plated well and tasted heavenly. Never disappointed, and they went the extra mile to play a happy birthday song over the speakers and sang personally while bringing our dessert. Personal touches were heart warming and special. Romantic atmosphere indeed.

What a magnificent experience at this awesome restaurant!! Had a 50th birthday celebration lunch for my sister at this beautiful venue. From the onset the staff were friendly and very helpful!! Diana was a superstar!! Helped with bookings as well as table settings and overall help with making sure everything went smoothly!! The vegetarian food was excellent!!! The Mediterranean Poke bowl was a hit!! The non-veg guests also really enjoyed the buffet and variety of options! Overall experience excellent!! Forever grateful!!!

What an amazing experience we had at the Rooftop Restaurant today! Had a beautiful farewell for a colleague! Even though we were a big group (28 people) the service was flawless, professional and friendly! The tables were set up beautifully and all staff were helpful! And to top it all off the food was amazing! We had the 2 course set menu. Will definitely visit this restaurant again!

The floor manager is one of the best. And that rubs on to his staff. Went there as part of a baby shower and unlike most places that give groups the minimum attention, we were given the best service. Will be sure to enjoy a lot more chilling sessions here. Just a tip..the resturant needs more signage and pointers as it's not easy to locate.

We hosted my daughter's 21st dinner at the rooftop restaurant and everything went off smoothly, great service from the staff, buffet food was excellent... We highly recommend this place if you planning a function! 5star!

The Rooftop Restaurant 16 April 2023. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Had the best eggs benedict with chicken fillet, the eggs were perfectly poached, the chicken was tender, juicy and full of flavour. Well done to the chef. šŸ‘

I was there twice on planned group dinners for the societies I participate in. I felt like the first time they gave us dry burgers, and the second time, their staff was overwhelmed and understaffed as a result, it was hard to get their attention for service. The food the second time around was a bit better, but they could really improve in how they serve it. I value anesthetics and presentation of the food and also how staff handles themselves, especially when they are overwhelmed.

The Rooftop Restaurant is a true culinary oasis! Perched high above the city, the breathtaking views complement the exquisite dishes. The menu is a symphony of flavors, a fusion of innovation and tradition. Impeccable service and a serene ambiance make it an unforgettable dining experience. Whether it's a romantic date night or a celebration, The Rooftop never fails to impress. It's a gastronomic adventure that combines stunning vistas with culinary excellence, leaving you with cherished memories.

One of my best dining experiences. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. But our highlight was the service. Our waiter, Lovemore, made sure our nite was special and enjoyable. Will definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a unique dining experience, just maybe not on a cold rainy winters nite.

So far, I have only had breakfast there, and it is very nice. The staff are very kind and helpful. The location is good šŸ‘. I can not wait to try out the rest of their menu

Great food - Paying above average rates for great food & service that doesn't disappoint makes it worthwhile. Great ups to the chef & staff really great lunch experience

Wonderful ambiance and layout. Food was good. We had the buffet (R180) which I feel was decent for an adult with a good variety of 3starters, 4mains , a dessert, green salad, fruit and cupcakes. Mains where great, especially the beef and fish. The cupcake was dry ( possibly from being left in the open). The place has a very intimate feel to it. Only down side was, being the beginning of winter, the night was cold. The Rooftop Cafe could invest in outdoor heaters. I would suggest keeping it adult and not taking kids along

Unbelievable. Been trying to go since November and finally got it right this time and made a booking. Prawn toast starter was excellent (probably the best I've had). We tried the Wagyu beef burger which was incredible and the Korean short rib special which was really really good. We also got the mozambican chicken just to try which also was great, however by the time we got to the chicken we were so full that we hardly even had much of it. Will need to go back to get a proper taste of that. For now though, I definitely recommend the prawn toast and the Wagyu beef (steak or burger). Great experience

Stunning venue! Central and modern! Breathtaking roof top view! Topped with fine dinning prepared by the best! The food is out of this world!! It is a definite, a must!!!!!!! #ozzy #ozzyskitchen

This is definitely a place to visit. Good clean vibe. Excellent service, friendly staff. This chef should get a standing ovation for a well prepared meal. Most definitely nothing short of perfectly grilled steak. Just excellent experience all round.

Will definitely recommend this restaurant/ good presentation of food/ everything we ordered was as tasty as it looked

Our second time at Ozzy's. Despite them not having our reservations (after two calls), the exceptional food made up for it. Excellent prawn bunny and the peri-peri chicken was mouth-wateringly good. Would highly recommend!

An exceptional holistic experience, from the food to industrial decor. Ozzy's Kitchen offers one of the best fine dining experiences where you receive the most Value for your money. Extremely impressed with their pricing structure for Fine Dining, no other restaurant in Johannesburg has this to offer. Fresh cocktails. Delicious cuisine. And a true Masterchef experience, with the pleasure of having a fantastic personal touch with the Founder Ozzy Masterchef Osman himself. 10 out of 10 rating! Get there now!
Fatima Timol
A Fantastic experience!! Fine dining at its best. The food was juicy, delicious, and just superb. Have to take your family and friends when you can.. because if you don't .. you missing out on an experience. The waitresses are friendly and Ozzy gave a warm welcome when we entered. Definitely going back soon!
Sadiyya Binte Farouk
Honestly speaking even a 1 star is too high a rating. 41 minutes wait for a burger and toasted sandwich while being the only customers. When I approached management and staff the only response I got was we'll go see what's taking so long and then they dissappeared into the kitchen with no feedback. Lastly, the order was incorrect. Horrible service especially for the price you pay.
Fatima Bulbulia
Really disappointingšŸ˜©From the service right down to the food. Poor quality and poor service don't even describe the never to be repeated experience at Ozzy's. And as head Chef and Owner when requested to speak to Ozzy himself, he refused to show himself. Definitely not worth all the hype. Won't go back there again
Ridwaan Soomra
We had lunch on a Saturday. The food was good, does not compare to majority raving reviews ... maybe I missed something. The service was average.. kids play area a disaster šŸ¤”Overall it's overrated šŸ˜ Maybe need to give it another try šŸ™ƒ

A very average restaurant. My sirloin was very ordinary and I doubt I'll go back anytime soon.

Friends took me out for what they called an amazing gourmet burger which they said I had to try before leaving South Africa.<br/><br/>The meals were pre-ordered over the phone and I specifically ordered a medium-rare beef patty while my friends ordered theirs well-done. We arrived and sat on the smoking terrace.<br/><br/>Food was served and my burger was well-done. Sent it back, got an apology from the chef on duty, and my correct order was later served. I hate when this happens, and it's happened a lot at most halal burger places I've eaten at in South Africa.<br/><br/>The Gourmet Burgers we were served were soggy and messy with sauce dripping from all over. This made it difficult to eat and ended up being a very messy meal. The combination of ingredients were tasty, but they over did the sauce and loaded too much filling in the bun, which kept falling out. The fries were the standard frozen packet chips with some spice and some greens for decoration, but nothing unique you'd expect with a gourmet burger meal. We had Cokes to drink.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, I never got to see the menu or order off it. I've heard some wonderful things about other menu items, which I hope to try the next time I'm in South Africa. But for me, the gourmet burger needs some work.

Food is good. Not gonna lie. Steaks are good.<br/><br/>Dont have any problems really.<br/><br/>I'd review the zomato app as 1/5 . It gets stuck all the time. They also bully you into downloading the app just coz u need to see the menu of a food place on Google images.

Food is amazing. <br/>Presentation is more professional than you can imagine.<br/>Staff are competent and friendly as well. <br/>Very memorable place. <br/>It has left an impression on me for sure.
Sabeeha Dawood
We had the tandoori platter which was absolutely divine. It was one of a kind, I haven't tasted better. I'll rate the platter 5 stars definitely. With regards to ambience and overall service I think there is room for improvement but the real reason to go to a restaurant is the great food right? So I'll rate this place 5 stars.

Started the food journey with a trip to @ozzyskitchen<br/><br/>It is based in a clothing shop which is a weird location and in Wynberg.<br/><br/>Service was good. Food was aesthetically pleasing.<br/><br/>We ordered a few different things to share.<br/><br/>1. Starter with carrot ginger and red kidney bean dip<br/>2. Vietnamese chicken and mint salad<br/>3. Kiddies platter ( 1 mini beef burger, 1 mini chicken prego and 1 mini hake with fries) this was more than sufficient for 2 kids<br/>4. Mozambican peri-peri chicken and avo salsa<br/>5. Wagyu burger<br/>6. Ozzy's burger - chefs choice<br/><br/>Make a booking before you go<br/><br/>Word of advice. Go hungry. #food<br/>#thingstodoinjoburg #halaaldining #eat #wagyu

Saturday night dinner menu was impressive! Food is certainly expensive but it was worth it. The steak and chicken were cooked to perfection with the perfect combination of flavors. The atmosphere was the only downside- it was incredibly loud both inside and outside. The kids play area is not ideally situated- you can always see your kids but their screaming and ball slamming against the window next to you was not pleasant. Likely to visit again just because of the food!

Food was nice considering they were suffering with power problems, and certain items on menu was not available <br/>Now the negatives ā€œ considering that this is ā€œ Fine Diningā€, the 3 menus seem to been printed on the office computer. <br/>The service is pathetic and inadequate, thrice we asked for a dessert menu and could not be provided with one, or evenbe told we donā€™t have or donā€™t do desserts, left wondering which of the 2.<br/>Only the food saves this joint...

Heard about Ozzyā€™s and family decided it was time to visit. We were a group of 14 including kids. Setting is a warehouse type feel. Parking is available at the back through electronic gate operated by a guard. <br/>Has a branded clothing store attached to it, so if you feel like a bit of shopping...it can be done.<br/>Service: disappointed... our order was not correct and we had to send a plate of chicken strips back. Service is really slow so be prepared to wait. <br/>Milkshakes: in my opinion...crap. I had the strawberry milkshake which tasted just like Nesquik and milk. I can even make a better milkshake than that. The hazelnut was just milk and hazelnut syrup flavour. For the price it is NOT worth it. <br/>Tea: I had a chai latte. That was nice. <br/>Drinks in general: mojito was had by kids, but it was liked by some and others not. <br/>Food: tandoori platter was delicious. The Seekh kebab was cooked perfectly. The malai bout and beef tikkas were spicy and yum. It says naan and accompaniments... lets just say donā€™t expect much. A teaspoon of some tomato and a sauce together with 4 tiny, really miniature triangles of naan. Naan was dry.<br/>Burger was huge @r115. It was nice. <br/>Kingklip was tender. Beef fillet was really nice. Mozambican Peru chicken was also a hit. <br/>Kiddies platter was enjoyed by the kids. The Mac and cheese arrived with a forest of herbs on top. After chopping the forest down, and eventually tasting the Mac and cheese, it was liked. <br/>Overall: food was really nice, milkshakes need a complete overhaul. Hot drinks were tasty. Food is pricy. <br/>Side note: one receives a complimentary bowl of soup. I have a problem here as we were 14, and only received 4 bowls of soup. On questioning why this was, we were quickly brought the remaining bowls. Some had tiny tiny slices of bread, others not. If u giving something complimentary it is appreciated if all receive it at the same time with whatever condiments it is supposed to have. Donā€™t give it as an afterthought. <br/>Portion size: I heard that sizes are small in comparison to price. The tandoori platter is r195 for effectively 12 small pieces of meat. If you are really hungry, it is a meal for one. The burger is huge. Chicken was a good size. Fish was small. Portion sizes should be bigger for price one is paying.<br/>Price: expensive. Expect to pay around r200 per person without desserts.<br/><br/>Visited last week Had the burger Portion wAs huge Bun was burnt slightly Milkshake still a disappointment Service was excellent Starters were divine Prawn chicken and livers were really nice<br/><br/>Visited for a family birthday. Food was excellent and service was good. Skipped the milkshakes and had a hot drink. Not out of this world, but the coffee was ok.

Come for the Food, Leave for the service. Last Saturday my wife and I visited Ozzies. This was my third visit to the restaurant. My first 2 experiences were relatively ok. Although the food was decent the service always brought down my opinion of this restaurant. I had hoped that this would have improved as theĀ place matured however it appears that the service has gone from bad to worse. Firstly after we were seated not a single waiter bothered with the table for at least 10 minutes.Ā AfterĀ we received our order (thanks to some furious waving to try and get the waiters attention on my part) not a single waiter stopped at our table to check if we were still ok. I had finished my drink before the food arrived and yet throughout the duration of my mealĀ I had three waiters pass my table and stare at my empty glass but not a single one stop toĀ ask if I would like to order another drink. On topĀ of that theĀ front of house managerĀ only goesĀ to check on selected tables (I am guessing her friends or family). In the mean time the absentee waiters are all sitting behind the bar laughing and joking and hereĀ I am hoping and waiting for some poor customer to waive his/her hands furiously to get some service.Ā The food at Ozzies is good and it offers a halaal fine dining experience which doesn't come around that often. Unfortunately for them service is what makes a great restaurant and right now there is absolutely nothing positive about that department.

We went on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was busy and we were glad that we had made a reservation. My husband loves steak and really wanted to try the Wagyu steak. I had a prawn bunny chow, my daughter ordered the Korean Ribs with garlic rice and my son had the Ozzy's burger. To drink, we had a granadilla crusher, a berry crusher, an iced latte and (non-alcoholic) ginger beer. We ended off with a mixed dessert platter. We were impressed with the taste and flavor of every dish we had. My husband enjoyed his Wagyu steak and the parmesan gnocchi it was served with, was delicious. The prawn bunny chow was spicy and served in a panini. I doubted that my daughter would enjoy the ribs as we donā€™t normally order ribs anywhere but it was some of the best ribs weā€™ve ever had. Even the burger was unique.

Been here for lunch & dinner, <br/>Pre-booking for dinner is a must, they are often booked by large groups. The steak is done as requested which is refreshing for a halaal establishment to finally offer meat that is not overcooked. Presentation of food is impeccable!! <br/>The price for mains is fair, i found the price for starters slightly high for portion size however overall as a group - the entire bill including starters, mains & drinks worked out to be well priced. <br/><br/>However, both times the service has been slow & disappointing. I found the waiters inattentive & a request for a glass of water with a slice of lemon takes over 10-15 min to arrive ? <br/>The setting is disappointing as well, for the quality of food, the ambience of the restaurant is cold & warehouse like which results in poor sound barriers when multiple tables of large groups are present. <br/><br/>Overall the food is def worth it & the setting can be overlooked, but the service really needs to improve!

I had the meat connoisseur burger and it was the best burger iv ever tasted in my entire life! It was packed with meaty flavor and it was very juicy. Double thumbs up šŸ‘šŸ‘

I've always wanted to visit Ozzys kitchen ever since I heard about it. A few of my family and friends had tried the place out before & suggested I should try it out. Firstly I was slightly disappointed with the fact that it was a buffet dinner menu , but I enjoyed it anyways. Some of the dishes like the chicken and beef were TOO over spiced. I didn't know what I was eating. The set up was lovely and staff friendly. Not my favorite restaurant but a good effort.

I guess the "fine dining" part kicks in for supper at Ozzy's. I visited for lunch...which was mainly light foods like sandwiches and burgers. I went for the steak, egg & chips...served with basil pesto and onion marmalade...it was good, the steak was spicy and flavoured well. We went for a dessert plate for dessert which had 5 mini desserts on it ...milk tart, cheesecake, chocolate cake, pecan nut tart, brownie...it was good.

A reservation was made for a Friday evening. I expected more in terms of decor and ambience. The restaurant feels like it hasn't developed its own identity as yet. With no specific theme or decor. In terms of the food we really enjoyed it. It was flavorful and well prepared. Our choices were Wagyu beef medium done with gnocchi- which was delicious. Also the 8 queen prawns grilled with seafood paella, which was also very enjoyable. The presentation also added to the appeal of our dishes. I enjoyed the place overall but would suggest not advertising it as fine dining. But would recommend this anytime for yummy, flavorsome food!

We went for a family dinner last night..I must say I was a tad bit dissapointed I did expect more in terms of flavour and presentation..I also feel for the portions and venue the price was high..the hummus and crisp that was complimentary was really tasty and superbly seasoned..for mains my brother and I shared the wague steak and tandoori platter..the steak was good and cooked as we has asked..I enjoyed the chimichurri sauce to and the potato gnocchi was delicious, the presentation could be way better and the price was excessive in my view..the tandoori platter was an utter dissapointment I didn't enjoy anything there and the naan was rock hard not cushiony pillow soft melting away in your mouth..we had the mozimbanxan chicken on the table and it was average and not Mozambican at all had a sweet chilli taste which was dissapointing..we ordered the cake dessert platter and it looked gorgeous but the taste was lacking..the cakes were dry, the milk tart had no taste at all..service was deurmekaar we had 4 different waiters and constantly needed to call for assistance..u will to make some drastic changes for me to be back..

Went to Ozzys for lunch. Phoned to book. Me and a friend got there not very busy when we arrived. Few people came in after us. We ordered drinks , got the drinks. Ordered food ( stir fry). Waited 45 min and still never got our food. So. Would still like to try this restaurant but would also like to taste the food. Not sure if that is possible šŸ˜¬

Ozzys kitchen is the place to go when you want really good grub! Everything is perfectly presented and well seasoned and superbly flavored! I can't choose my favorites as everything we had was delicious! The prawns and the Mozambican chicken were sublime! Unfortunately it's a bit far out in terms of location, but other than that, thumbs up from me.

Came for lunch on a Friday. We ordered a few dishes for the table. The mozambican chicken and Ozzy Beef burger was really good. Really nice flavours

Some of the best food in Johannesburg <br/><br/>Overall this is a must go for all who are looking for good wholesome food in a relaxed casual vibe <br/><br/>Food <br/><br/>For starters we opted for <br/>The sweet chilli prawn <br/>The chicken livers<br/>The the Vietnamese chicken salad <br/><br/>They where all really good however if you had to go for one I would advise the Vietnamese chicken salad it was really really good ! <br/><br/><br/>Main cause we opted for <br/>The Mozambican chicken <br/>The prawn bunny <br/>A prego burger <br/>And steak <br/><br/>The food was without a doubt some of the best iv eaten. All the food was flavorful and somewhat elevated from the average. My favorite would be the chicken The presentation was playful and made one want to eat the food<br/><br/>Service <br/><br/>The service was perfect wait staff are well informed. They are also warm and friendly and make sure that the table is not too cluttered by clearing . Food also was served promptly <br/><br/>Location and vibe <br/><br/> The location is just off Grayson easy to find with undercover parking .The general vibe of the place is not formal but rather relaxed and welcoming .<br/><br/>It is a place that one should definitely make a stop at and try it for yourself for a great lunch or dinner ! I would definitely recommend it and personally would be back !<br/>

DOES NOT DELIVER<br/>we booked a family lunch at ozzy on Saturday after being a fan of the ex Masterchef contestant. Our family pre booked our meals by e mail as instructed by the management. <br/>VENUE<br/>The restaurant is in an industrial part of wynberg with zero ambiance and view. The eating area is very noisy and one has to go T the next door shop to use the restrooms<br/>SERVICE<br/>We were e mailed a menu the day before and asked to pre order our meals, which we did. This was efficient, but not what a customer wants. Kitchen efficiencies should not be at the expense of the customers dining experience. <br/>Even though we pre ordered the food came in drips and drabs, the prawns arriving after everyone had eaten their food<br/>DRINKS<br/>MILKSHAKES were average at best. The strawberry tasted like thickened nesquik. The hazelnut was a little better. Lemonade was definitely not from fresh lemons but from some concentrate<br/>FOOD<br/>WAGYU beef and sirloin steak was very nicely done and the meat was tasty, the gnocchi a good accompaniment the green pesto was flavorless and did not provide that kick to take the meal to another level. <br/>(Note if I had a scale I could easily prove that the beef was NOT 300 grams more like 150g)<br/>Prawn peri peri - prawns were done very nicely but the peri peri was over spiced and we found it too hot. The chips were standard frozen chips.<br/>Peri chicken and chicken prego- couldn't beet Nandos and very average<br/>Prawn bunny- the curry was excellent although the portion a little small. <br/>Kids platter- was really nice and different from any other kids meals. <br/>CONCLUSION<br/>Failed to deliver on expectations small portion sizes and very average. Poor value for money. Once the hype of bookings are over I don't know how they would sustain the restaurant unless they up their game. <br/>ASIDE<br/>WAITRESSES need to be dressed. Two of them had breasts hanging out. Not a family show.
Yusuf Dindar
This has got to be the best food in Jozi.<br/>We had 5 dishes on the Menu from fish, chicken, meat and prawns <br/>Ozzie truly defines the principle of 'simplicity is success'<br/>Sumptuous meal. <br/>This is good food with a difference
Cintia Pena
I had such a great first time experience! The food was unbelievable and the service was great! Friendly staff and were very accommodating! Have no negative comments at all! Will definitely go there again! Only wish that they offered delivery, that way i could have lunch everyday at work :-)

Popped by on a quiet Monday. Given what I'd read before going, expectations were high. <br/>Sadly, was disappointed. <br/>Service was 'deurmekaar' <br/>Waiter trying to take the order had no idea what we were talking about. Eventually the guy, who I suspect prepared our meal, ended up coming himself to take the order. <br/>Husband had prawns with rice. The rice was soggy. Prawn sauce had separated so was thin and oily.<br/>I had a steak. We'll prepared. Served with frozen skinny fried. Bland though. <br/>Maybe the fine dining is better. <br/>Prices were reasonable.

A spectacular evening was enjoyed with former MasterChef South Africa contestant and culinary craftsman, Ozzy Osman, as he launched Ozzyā€™s Kitchen, a casual fine-dining halaal eatery located at international fashion house and experimental hub, BLU, in the heart of Wynberg.<br/><br/>The launch took place on the roof of the building that boasts spectacular views of the Sandton skyline, and is also available for hire for events.<br/><br/>A refreshingly simple daytime cafĆ© menu is available on weekdays and features wholesome and delicious light meals at affordable prices. The fine dining menus are reserved for weekends when guests can experience Ozzyā€™s eclectic creations while taking in the casual and friendly atmosphere. A banqueting menu is also available for corporate events and special functions.<br/><br/>At the launch we were treated to variety of canapeā€™s, hot and cold that were simply mouth watering! Favorites of the evening were definitely the Beetroot and Goats Cheese Terrine, and the Corn and Basil Soup, as well as the beautifully plated Oxtail Choux Buns and the Minted Chilli Pea Parcels.<br/><br/>Worth a pop in and a check out - and you can do a spot of shopping at the same time.
