Very nice place to relax after work or on the weekend. Food is great, staff are pleasant. Place is clean. Wide variety of Portuguese food. Love the milktart shots 😄

We were served by Eden and I will say this, OUTSTANDING service on his part!! The actual restaurant is lovely, nice and relaxed. The food is so yummy and well cooked. However the greeting to guests could be worked on, I was meeting friends there and no one helped me to find my booking. Other than that I would recommend this place for sure.

Good pizza - a bit undercooked though (I was brought a Regina when I ordered a Hawaiian). Could be quite nice to go there at night as very quiet during the day. Wide selection of foods incl. Italian and Portuguese cusine as well as sushi.

Little Italy is the most amazing place. Best customer service and the most delicious food. Really love the peri peri chicken, chips and sushi!!!! Atmosphere is the best one can ever find in JHB. The staff are super friendly!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!

Pleasant family restaurant using a combination of Italian and Portuguese cuisine. Saw at least two large pizza ovens and many cars on a quiet evening. Eclectic decor and plastic table clothes with efficient staff. A wide variety of menu items to cater for many Mediterranean tastes at reasonable prices but not cheap.

Chicken and prawns always good. Order with extra sauce

A little hidden gem in the south of Johannesburg. They have a very big menu. We definitely have to go back to try the rest of it. Staff are very friendly, however, food can be a little bit slow.

I took my wife there a couple of years ago for a special  occasion and being a regular Spur patron I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere , good service and the very tasty and well priced food. BUT last Sunday after much effort to convince my Mom and sister to join us at your restaurant I was shocked and really disappointed at what we where served and how long we had to wait. Three of us ordered the special being Eisbein  (900G) which couldn't have been a ounce over 500g but perfectly prepared I must say ,and tasteless rise and fries that was so dry I couldn't eat it , SHAME on you for using frozen oven chips. My Mom ordered a 200g rump and that was so tough she took it home for my dogs. Overall our lunch was terrible and I will definitely not go there again.

The welcome was warm and very friendly. Our waiter Talent was absolutely marvelous.<br/>We had calamari and mushroom starters - both devine.<br/>Mains of pizza was great!!<br/>My trinchado was delicious and the fillet tender, but I expected a bit more spice from a Portuguese restaurant.... Gravy was a bit bland.<br/>All in all... We will be back 😁

Hi to the owners , we got told that there was no garlic in the restaurant? Sorry but I’m gobsmacked ? No garlic in a Italian / porra place ? To be told the order didn’t arrive , uhm go down the road and buy some ? Maybe ? We tried to order a focaccia as a starter ... but to no avail !

Food was great. Prices are reasonable. Good portions. Atmosphere and set up was family friendly and vibey too. Service was ok. Definitely going back to try other options on the menu.<br/>

We took the family out for a mother's day lunch. The restuarant was full with tables of family and extended families. Our waiters Wisdom and Velentino were amazing. All the food was delicious. We were given a free jug of Sangria which was a nice touch.

First time visit and had a pleasant experience. The ambience is nice and has a welcoming feeling. I was impressed by the menu offering and the variety of different dishes. I received a fantastic service from my waiter who showed genuine interest and dedication. My order was a vegetarian pizza, 6 double KWV 10 y/o in separate glasses and 3 Cokes. All of which was delivered to my table very fast. I have no complaints about the food as it was done well. I do wish smaller size pizzas and pastas were offered. Overall I'm satisfied with the food and service and will definitely be returning.

Our food was served after 30 minutes of placing the order, we ordered the Little Italian Special pizza and the prawns that were on the menu were actually shrimp, and then the ribs and chicken combo that we ordered, firstly the ribs were not fresh at all and then the chicken was burnt and beyond blend. <br/><br/>Unfortunately we will never be back here again.

After a long day at gold reef, my friends and I decided to go to Little Italy. Before Saturday I had never heard of the restaurant before. It is very cute and has many different sections, which I like. The separation made the areas more intimate. It is a great place for both small and big groups. At first I wasn’t hungry, but once I saw one of the pizzas ordered by one of the people at our table I decide to order. Its a pity that I can’t remember the name of the pizza because it was amazing. It had A LOT of meat which made me very happy. Some of my friends didn’t enjoy their meals very much while others did. I guess it was 50/50. Either way, I enjoyed myself here. It’s a pity our waitress kept leaving things behind and disappearing for a while.

A great family restaurant with an ambience to suit most all tastes. Great variety in ambience from inside out, large range of dishes to cater for almost any taste with friendly service and good pricing.<br/>Mrs enjoyed a great wood oven baked lasagne (although prepare to wait a little while) whilst Mr had a generous tender half chicken and tasty prawns at less than a hundred bucks a meal. Great value, great taste and compliments to our waiter for the friendly and attentive service.

Service at the restaurant was terrible. Food took really long to arrive.. and that was only after asking numerous times. The restaurant was not even that busy - so no excuse for the poor service. Would not recommend this place to anyone. <br/>

First time visit and so disappointed. Absolutely pathetic service from the restaurant. Walked in around 12:30 at the restaurant. Got my starters after 20-25 mins from placing the order. When the waiter got back to the table, he took our order for mains and left. 45 minutes later and still no food. Upon approaching the waiter at the front desk, he says "Sorry, the kitchen lost your slip. Your order is not ready". I will definitely never return to Little Italy and will be sure to share my experience with everyone I know.

The service was outstanding...the waiter who served us was at our table every ten minutes asking if everything was fine...but then the food arrived and i wasn't happy at all...i had the beef trinchado and my girlfriend had calamari with fried squid heads...which looked appetising but wasn't appetising at all...to much wine in the trinchado and chips underneath my girlfriends squid heads which she didnt have any chips on her plate it came with rice...very unhappy with the food sorry to say...but excellent service

This place has a good relaxing vibe. Not too noisey. <br/>The service was a bit below average and the food took a bit of a while to arrive. <br/>BUT the food was excellent. The chicken was super awesome and the pasta was over tops....best pasta I tasted thus far. <br/>I'm giving 5 because of the food.

Had a birthday celebration there. The food was amazing, excellent service and friendly waiters. All that bothered me is the space between tables, had to ask people to move in their chairs to pass. Recommended

Went for dinner, little disappointed presentation of the food could have been better, my veggies was cold, not warm but cold. The staff are friendly and great but there is a little spark needed in the restaurant. Will give it one more visit

Awesome restaurant. Such a huge menu with a large variety of options. The pizza and pasta are a winner. Only negative is the dessert options which come in a take away container that looks like it's been sitting for a while. Should include a dessert menu that is prepared when ordered. The shooter that came with our bill was a nice touch.

Food is always good. Service can be slow at times but worth the wait. The chicken is the best in JHB. Done Moçambique style. The Pizza's menu has a good selection for most palates and the prawn curry a favourite.

The service is absolutely shocking!! It took over 15 minutes for the waiter to get back to us regarding the availability of a portion of food and then still had to wait over 40 minutes for the food to arrive. This restaurant needs better management! The food was also very average.

Little Italy is known for its mouth - watering Italian food. The restaurant is well spread out to accommodate many people with different needs -inside , outside , smoking , non-smoking . If you're into smoking hubbly (hookah) , this is a great place for you to have supper. The food is full of taste however I did find my pasta ( Little Italy Spaghetti ) lacking some spice , but nothing some chillies can't fix. The dish I highly recommend is the Chicken Ravioli. Absolute best. The calamari curry was great too. Service was good. Great place for a family outing or if you want to impress a couple of friends.

This place is great, nice vibe- very chilled, there's ample space though it can get very noisy. The food is really good, the menu has a variety of dishes. The service is average- our waitress kept messing up the orders but the food made up for it- when we eventually did get what we ordered lol.

The food never ceases to impress, but the service could do with some improvement. Waiting time for any kind of service seems to be a problem even when its quiet. Had a bad experience 3 times in a row so far and looking to go elsewhere in future if this doesnt change soon.

The place is kind of falling apart and needs a bit of a revamp. But the food is awesome and the vibe is nice especially in the outside area. A must try.

What a find! I had lunch at Little Italy yesterday with my mom and brother. I absolutely love Portuguese food and my mom and brother love Italian, so the combined menu looked perfect.After hearing that the best options in the South of Jozi were Vera Vita and multiple Portuguese establishments, I decided to try a place I had never been to before and WOW I am so impressed.Now I have to be honest, I am a waiter's worst nightmare as I like to ask a million questions about how they prepare the dishes I would like to order. My usual question is always about Ribs, and whether they are able to serve them completely unbasted. I am not a fan of the normal sweet BBQ rib basting. The waiters usually either give me a blank stare or run off to go ask the manager or chef, but when I asked my usual question yesterday, our waiter knew straight away that the ribs are completely unbasted before they cook them and further informed me that they can make anything on their menu however the customer likes. I was really impressed by this as even at the fine dining establishments, the waiters generally don't know off hand, or the ribs are already basted.Other than the fact that they serve the best pork ribs I have ever tasted, everyone else really enjoyed their food. I will definitely be returning soon to try the other menu options!! Yum!

Carbonara. The best damn carbonara in Joburg! I love this place because they make great food and they keep the ambiance that makes the south of Joburg so authentic. I could do with more attentive service but I look beyond it because the food is so good and well priced. I can smoke my hub, laugh and have a good time with mates! Italy and Portugal in the south! Love.

We arrived early and the service was extremely slow. Melanzane was beautiful but mains was bland and very disappointing. Kingklip ruined by overcooking it and Although the calamari was soft and tender, the accompanying rice tasted like it was leftovers from the weekend. It did not help that we waited so long for each course. Had better experiences here in the past, maybe this is just a bad day?

Fine I dine here almost every second week but I actually enjoyed this meal .this time i got to try something different cause I normally order pasta or pizza but this time i was like hey let me explore and it was nice and warm

A friend invited me for Saturday lunch. From outside it looked like a quaint neighborhood restaurant but I was soon unpleasantly surprised.<br/>The outside seating area was draped with a (used to be white) canvas, half of it unhinged from the hooks. <br/>Seems like hubbly bubbly was the order of the day as I counted not less than three groups of smokers- imagine the dampness of the air caused by the different flavours of smoke.<br/>As soon as I saw the EXTENSIVE list of items on the menu, I knew not to expect anything more than an average meal. The Starters alone were a full page long- with that many ingredients, the served plate is bound to be compromised.<br/>With all this, I managed to have a slice of pizza...nothing to write home about really. My fears were realised.

Hello Little Italy... I'm coming back for a taste of your pizza. This is a nice spot in the South to go out with a group of friends for some Italian food. I loved my plate of creamy tomato chicken breast, rocket and feta pasta on my birthday. This is the best dish to keep you warm this winter. Friday nights, south of johannesburg under seige of loadshedding- favourite hotspot comes to mind, a family run Portuguese and Italian restaurant in the heart of jhb :) We were welcomed by a friendly waitor, Frank eagerly awaiting us, sat us down with a diverse menu catering our ever need. We ordered our glass of wine and our gorgonzola foccia arrived in minutes... Deciding on a range of delicious starters we chose Clams, veal wrapped in parma ham, trinchado and most unbelievably malenzane :) We were served our meals in under 15 minutes, and to end off a great night we left with the most satisfied tummys :) Job well done, good vibe and service all on point.... This could be a Friday special for our group of friends :)

Little Italy, definitely a spot that would surprise you in a pleasing way.<br/><br/>At first glance, one would be quite skeptical, but as soon as you sit down and allow the some what rustic aura to set in, you would feel quite at home.<br/><br/>The menu definitely isn't boring and the meals provided really are a treat. It is definitely evident that care is being taken during preparation as one can taste the full bodied flavor of herbs and spices used.<br/><br/>All in all, I'd say, a pretty good night out that will be pleasing to the tummy as well as taste buds

This #hiddenGem is located in a small area in the south of jhb. <br/><br/>Really really good peri peri chicken and prawns. <br/>I do love my chicken livers and calamari for starters, and they did not disappoint!!<br/><br/>The service sometimes wavers, especially when they are really busy, but it's something to overlook especially when the food is that good!

Little italy is a hidden gem in my opinion, the pizza is amazing, the staff are all friendly and happy to help, they even gave my daughter some pizza dough to play with. We had a good time all round :)

This restaurant is right around the corner from us but Thando isn't a big fan of the establishment - not really sure why though. Had chicken and a salad from here, the chicken was a little dry but the flavours were good. Too much lettuce in the salad - I'm also a fan of other greens in my salad like rocket rather than lettuce so I may be a little bias in this regard. But it was an ok night overall.

What a stunning eatery especially on a Sunday afternoon! Live music with an excellent entertaining band and an atmosphere to lift the bleakest spirits. As always the vibe is brilliant and the food outstanding! The sushi served here is presented in the traditional way and is by far the best for miles. The Portuguese menu rivals the best in the South and naturally the Italian dishes cannot be beaten. The service is good and the management always go out of their way to accommodate you. This is still one of the best function venues in the South. Completely relaxed and fully satisfied !

Not very happy with the service tonight. Very slow and inefficient. Half the stuff is not on the menu, we didn't get any rolls with butter beforehand like we normally do before we get our food.

This restaurant came recommended by the bf's colleague, so we decided to try it out on a Saturday afternoon.<br/>It's a huge restaurant with a wood burning pizza oven by the front door. They weren't very busy when we visited. Our waiter was friendly, but not in a hurry to do much.<br/><br/>The menu has way too many items on it, as it is both an Italian restaurant and a Portuguese restaurant. Just in case neither of those cuisines whet your appetite, they also have a huge sushi menu, and we spotted eisbien being available too.<br/><br/>That being said, the food we had was very nice (trinchado and chorizo) and our friends have recommended that we try the pizza the next time we visit.<br/><br/>This would be the perfect venue for a birthday or any other celebration with a lot of people. <br/><br/>Our bill came with complimentary pancake shots. That made my day ?

From our first telephonic encounter with Carlo, the Manager, to meeting him and then booking the 50th birthday party it was only but a pleasure. He is most accommodating and eager to please his customer. My hubby's 50th was a huge success on Saturday, 7 March 2015 all thanks to Carlo and his team. The food was simply divine and in abundance. If anyone went hungry it was their own fault! His waiters were friendly and efficient. Price for 36 guests was reasonable.  We had an amazing time and many of our friends have advised that they sure will go back!. Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday and I am thinking of ordering pizzas and lasagna for the few friends coming over after work.  Give it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm having a quiet Saturday lunch alone at a recommended suburban joint. This venue is worth a visit as it serves both Italian and Portuguese food. I ordered prawns and chicken combo and it was divine. This is not your Sandton, but unpretentious and hearty. Well done to Wisdom my waiter for suggesting that I try the combo as a first time visitor.<br/>Worth a visit for people living, travelling or passing Glenanda.<br/>

Haven't been in a while but the last time I went I wasn't impressed. The pizza wasn't as tasty as what they used to be and the service was slow. The outside area is nice to sit at and it's a nice place to have an after work drink, but I wouldn't eat there again in a hurry.

A real local joint. The service is always slow and it is always really busy. We go here with friends, but I wouldn't choose it on my own. It is really convenient if you are around the corner from it, so I get that. <br/>I think parents love this place since they always get the same convenient experience, it like like a local Spur but in Italian theme - nothing wrong with that.

I always heard positive ratings about Little Italy / Casa Portuguesa, so when I tried the Portuguese cuisine , I was a bit skeptical considering they specialize in Italian Food. The menu is huge ! From your pizzas,pastas to prawns & peri-peri chicken , steaks , you name it they have it! Having said that the starter Garlic snails was one of the best I've tasted . My mains also surprised me, prawn & chicken combo was a great choice & didn't disappoint, could have had an extra bite but nonetheless great ! Ambience was satisfactory , but the service is extremely poor !!. If you going in a big group where everybody have a variety of tastes then give Little Italy a go ! I'll definitely be back !<br/>

Been to Little Italy a few times now, their weekday specials make for very good value for money. I would recomend you stick to their pizzas and pastas - the Portuguese food leaves a lot to be desired. Also to be noted, service is terrible and on a full night, prepare to wait > 1h for your meal.

I was first introduced to Little Italy by a friend who's dad is good friends with the owner of Little Italy. <br/>We came here one evening for a relaxed dinner. <br/>The pizza and pasta we ordered were great! The service was good too (but this might have been preferential treatment). <br/>For dessert my friend (a regular here), recommended the chocolate bob. A chocolate cake filled with melted chocolate. Little Italy is a great place to meet on Fridays after work for some drinks and dinner. Victor being our waiter is so accommodating and well served! <br/>They are an Italian/grill place they have a huge menu.<br/>The oysters are incredible and so fresh as well as the sole fish.<br/>pizza and pasta is great to food service could be better. Wow what a great restaurant all around
