This place has a very chilled environment. Its serene. A place to go enjoy a kraft beer with friends. Kids will love this place plenty of entertainment for them and chilminders. Prices are very very reasonable and the food is great. This is my new spot!!!

Our daughter races around and plays wonderfully whilst being looked after by the fantastic child minders whim we know by name and they us too!
Lots for kids to do and awesome art on canvas classes which our little girl loves to do every week- needless to say our home gallery is growing! The staff are all so friendly and nice.. they know our orders by now as a group of us moms and dads have brekkie together whilst our kids are in clsss together- a great place for us all to relax and catch up. Such a great morning! It is a very relaxed place, safe and secure and feels like family.

Wanted to make Valentine's Day special for our daughters so I dropped off home made cards and Lindt teddy bears and sweets for the girls - and the waitress very kindly laid the table with all the goodies so the girls and Robin could be surprised as they walked in. The food was delicious as always and the service was friendly and efficient. It is not fine dining but it is a fabulous family restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere - where nothing is ever too much trouble.

Had a fantastic day at AJs today, thanks to Voyk and the team. Everything you could want for a family venue, plenty of "old school" play for the kiddies, good beer and wine and the food is outstanding. Regina pizza was very nice and a couple of people at our table had the Argentina Rump steak, it was out of this world. In short an excellent family venue with great staff and amazing food. Well done.
Enjoyed a Friday night dinner with friends. Banting pizza base was excellent v and the regular pizzas were pretty good. Generous toppings. Crumbed chicken strips for the kids were better than the grilled. Lovely hot chocolate surprise the kids enjoyed melting the chocolate stick in the milk. unpretentious and simple but tasty fare. Lots of space for older kids to run around as well as a jungle gym for little kids.
If you’re looking for a family restaurant that caters for kids and adults then AJs is the place. We have never been disappointed. The pizzas we’ve had have always been full of flavour and on Wednesday’s they are only around R75 per pizza. We love the flame grilled chicken and for those that love ribs they are also super delicious. In the day, you can sit outside, relax, while your kids run freely playing around. They have child minders and lots of entertainment. It is also fenced off so no worries that your kids might get lost.

The food is good and hearty. Music playing in the background and the kids are entertaining themselves with the jumping castles and sports equipment.
In the area, so decided to investigate. The friendly car park guard at first indicated that there was no space in the parking lot but then assisted me in reversing into a space I pointed out to him. Walking into the entertainment area I was amazed at how many young parents with (well behaved) children were outside the club house. Sadly, the bowling greens (like so many in Jhb) no longer appear to be functional.
The club house is a bit run down but the staff friendly and attentive, with a very hands on and alert manager. Always a good sign.
The pizzas smelt and looked delicious, but as I had already eaten elsewhere I shall have to return to sample them. Prices of food and drinks are very reasonable. Looks like a good find.

I was so starved arriving here that when the food was placed on the table I didn't even think about taking pictures. I sampled amazing lamb but decided to go with the pizza. Always pleasant😃 however I feel like it's always missing something. Till I put my fingers on what that is I'm happy to keep coming back to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. 💋
AJs is a gem for anyone with young kiddies. The jungle gyms, jumping castle, child minders and big open fields make this a great venue for parents to relax with wine or a draught beer, while the kids get rid of some excess energy.
I have only ever ordered pizzas, so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. But the pizzas are excellent, and I haven't heard any complaints about the rest.
Service can be a little slow, especially with larger tables, but we have never had enough reason to complain.
Cashed in my Zomato voucher 😁 . Walking in we didn't expect much, we assumed it's just another sub-standard light-meal cafe in a park. Boy were we wrong. The waitron was friendly, the service was sharp and the food was full of flavour. The burger was much more than I expected and beer was on special. Add this to the fact that in a park, what more could you ask for for Sunday lunch.
Had a voucher from Zomato to review this place .It is overlooking bowls.Very good value for money I must say .Coffee was good.Had a farm breakfast as well ,everything was tasty only bacon was a bit dry as didn't look like it was fried and must be healthier. This is a little gem, it is not fancy, and we love the relaxed and friendly vibe. The staff are friendly and efficient and our children always have a lovely time. Our children (2 and 5 years old) enjoy the chicken strips and chips - it is the perfect portion size for little ones. We each had the no. 1 burger burger but substituted the feta for cheddar and mozzarella and they were outstanding. We have tried the salads and pizzas before and all the food is tasty and fresh. We will visit many more times.
Really love their pizzas. I've always been a "thin crust pizza" kinda gal and they definitely hit the spot. We only got some takeaways but service was fast and friendly. Will be back again to try something else on their menu too.
What an unexpected gem! It's very rare to find a place where you don't need to compromise on the quality on the food just so the little ones can have a good time! The burgers were the biggest I've ever come across and oh so yummy. The child minders looked after my little munchkin on the jumping castle and playing ball whilst we ate a feast and drank craft beer with a lamb on the spit in the background. Sunday's.... Before we became breeders, they were usually made up of slothing in bed until 10am, silently begging with the hangover gods to trade our dry, cracked tongues for a liter of cream soda and a pie from the garage... these days? We are up, showered, dressed and have already had our 'first breakfast' of rooibos tea and gluten free rusks (just kidding....We smashed a packet of oreo's in our faces along with 2 cups of nespresso 'Arpegio', one after the other... They're the only 'shooters' we do these days) by the time the canoeists on Emmarentia dam are just zipping up their Lycra rowing suits. The kids are hyper, demanding 'somewhere fun and nice' and we are desperate to please... After all, happy children are the best kind... We've tried ALL the "child friendly'' places...so any new (ahem) kids in the block in this category are quickly sampled and more often than not, cast aside... So trying AJ's in the Park, at the old Craighall sports club was exciting for all of us.
They open at 9am, we were there at 9:01. The waiters welcomed us with open arms and huge smiles. We were immediately made Comfortable with cappuccino's (Illy, I think) along with the most delicious shortbread biccies I've had in a long time. The kidlets played on a huge jumping castle, two different jungle gyms or on the newly layed bowling greens (the owner is trying to resurrect them - but they are currently covered in kiddies soccer, tennis and other balls)
The breakfast menu has 4 options - the usual full English, the full house, an omlette and a 'breakfast bun'. At R35 for the latter, we couldn't believe the description would live up to the reality. It stated bacon, eggs, cheese and tomato on a bun.... We decided to give it a try. IT WAS SUBLIME... Crispy bacon, delicately scrambled eggs, seasoned to perfection.... A thick slab of cheddar all rounded off with perfectly sliced tomatoes, nestled between the floury folds of a freshly griddled Portuguese roll. For R35? unheard of! I battled to finish mine, but forced myself as one must never let good food go to waste!
The kids finished every scrap of their soft eggs and chips, we needed to order more toast to lap up the last of the strawberry jam.
Looking at the menu, their pizza and burgers look amazing. They have a beautiful wood fired pizza oven inside the newly renovated restaurant.
By the time we left, the yummy mummies had arrived, all Stokke prams, ray bans and navy and white stripes.... Getting their secret carb fixes for the week, no doubt.
The owner was open to all kinds of feedback (we had some toddler safety 'ideas') which for me is always a sign of wonderful things... an owner wanting to make his 'baby' as glorious and cuddly as ours are!
We will be back! Over and over again! Sunday's are sure looking up!
We had takeway pizza on a Friday evening from this new Craighall restaurant a few weeks ago. It is definitely aimed at people with kids... an old sports club, with an old sports club vibe. I was impressed by the owner who brought us some complimentary beer while we were waiting for our pizza. We probably looked like we needed it, as we felt a bit like we had just walked into a Spur. I would eat their pizza again though... wood fired, thin bases... yum.
Amazing place! Excellent food with a very homely, accommodating atmosphere! Whether you are young, old, parents of little ones, they cater for all! Highly recommended!
Great place for casual drinks and pizzas. Nice for kiddies and outdoor sitting on a nice day. Pizza and burger was delicious. Just very slow service. They can't keep up with too many people and PIzzas took forever to come out.
Great spot for a cheeky mid week pizza. These quality club vibes are few and far between,I'm very happy to have been introduced to this one.

Wonderful, friendly, casual atmosphere and highly delectable pizzas. Definitely a great place for the weekends to relax and to enjoy a hearty meal & friendly atmosphere after a long week of the working grind.
Their Banting base was delicious - cauliflower. It was, however, quite burnt on the edges, but it tasted great nonetheless. Their normal base was absolutely scrumptious! Unlike any other I've tasted before.

Having discovered AJs in the park a few weeks ago I have only good things to say. This place keeps impressing me with every new item that I order on their menu. Friendly staff and owner , beautiful scenery and thoughtfully decorated restaurant. Definitely worth many return visits. Wish them all the best for their new business , a real gem in Craighall Park.

The venue is kind of random so I didn't know what to expect.
The menu is quite limited but I like that, it means they can focus on a few core recipes and knock those out the park, which they did because we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the t-bone with a side of mushroom sauce and my girlfriend had their signature burger. I also had their craft beer, which was average, but all in all we really enjoyed ourselves and we will making another mission to Aj's very very soon.
Great Sunday afternoon, great live music, cold craft beer and thin base, crispy pizzas. Fantastic venue, really flexible. Looking forward to trying the steaks and burgers next.

Great spot for casual meal! We went for an early dinner the other evening. Arrived just as the sun had set. The sky was beautifully pink and we even had a bit of a view over Craighall Park towards Randburg- a rare find these days, with most restaurants facing onto a shopping centre parking lot! We sat outside as there was a private function going on inside but the manager set up some heaters which took the chill off, and it was really pleasant! Everyone at the table ordered pizza, except for me. I had the chicken schnitzel with chips and cheese sauce. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately my chips were a bit cold but the manager was very apologetic and brought me a fresh plate, and they were delicious! The cheese sauce was served in a tiny bowl. It was tasty but I could have done with a bigger serving. Everyone seemed really impressed with their pizza. There is a jumping castle and swings, so you can leave the kids to run a mock, while you enjoy a glass of wine. The food is reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. Worth many return visits!

I love this place!! It has a relaxed vibe and the decor is not your typical sports club, has has charm and warmth and style. You can sit outside on the lawn too which is really pleasant. So far the food has been absolutely amazing!! Chicken schnitzel to die for and pizza to keep coming back for!! Mark G plays great golden oldies on a Sunday lunch and Wednesday evening! Very family friendly with a kids jumping castle.
Since discovering AJ's we've visited a few times already. Each time has been great. The staff are really friendly and the manager bends over backwards to make things happen. Live music with Mike on a Wed evening is good fun & I think the pizza oven is going to provide a cosy spot in winter. The quality of food is good & it's a easy spot to meet friends with kids. My only complaint is that the sauces come in a bowl the size of a thimble - something I'm sure they're going to change soon. :)

I was invited to a children's birthday party. We were welcomed by one of the owners, Voyk, with a big smile, and I almost felt like I was welcomed into somebody's home. The photos do absolutely no justice to the volume of food served in the platters. The fruit platter was crisp and cold with only the tastiest fruits. The ribs were succulent, and the meat just fell off the bone. The basting was not too sweet, and the volume was spot on. The chicken strips were perfectly fried and still juicy inside, I often find chicken breast dry, but these were amazing. The pregos were well balanced with fresh buns and a generous piece of chicken. The children were constantly entertained with lots to do. The kiddies' play area is clean and well maintained. The slip and slide was one of the highlights for our kids. There was a magic show that the kids loved. There's also painting, for R100 the children can choose a canvas to paint and take home. Overall, it was an amazing day, enjoyed by all, and I can't wait to go back.
Lovely afternoon spent here. I also have to agree that the personal greeting and engagement with the owner adds a special touch.
The food was delicious, they had a big group that they were busy with so the food came rather late but it was worth the wait. The waiters are good and the facilities are 100% great for kids with lots to do for them.
So it happened that we were suddenly alone on Xmas day and we decided to visit AJ's for lunch. What a spread! Between Vojk who served with personal flair and Candice who brought out the desserts and Nelson who diligently managed the table rotations, we experienced one of the best lunches whilst the lil'un was enjoying the slippy-slide and sunshine. The venue is on the repurposed bowling ground which gives the kiddies some space to exercise their kicks (under the watchful eyes of the child minder) and you can enjoy the hospitality while the excellent food is being served by Angelique and the others. I'm now a regular.

We visited today for a quick lunch and I noticed that there is a lot of construction and stuff going on. It isn't completed yet but I can't wait to see the final result and I will remain one of their regular customers.
Just want to share that I hadnt been here in years until this past Sunday. My son had his 2nd birthday party here and is now 7. The changes are incredible. It was already an awesome venue back then! We ordered the blue cheese burger and seafood snack platter. The prawn, calamari and everything really was amazing! I was pleased to hear the owner is the same sweet guy I met years ago as well. Wow the food is good, I don't often rave about seafood or even order it because it's never good so far from the ocean😂 but wow! We sat on the deck over looking the field and our awesome waiter brought my son an airplane to throw around. He was great, unfortunately can't remember his name though. My partner and I were very full because we couldn't stop eating the food. Thank you so much!

What a wonderful experience!
We hosted our 1-year old's first birthday at AJ's last Saturday and couldn't have been happier!
The owner Voik went above and beyond to ensure that our day was perfect, despite recent staff changes, the large number of guests that we invited and the 2 other functions that were being held concurrently... not an easy task for an owner by any means, but Voik ensured that the day was an absolute success and everyone had a great time. He was also extremely generous with platter organisation and pricing to fit our budget, and made contingency plans in case the weather turned bad.
I would highly recommend AJ's for anyone wanting to host an outdoor children's party that is safe and secure, feels like home away from home and allows the kids to have good old-fashioned fun kicking a ball around a field or bouncing on a jumping castle. Ample playground equipment and slides/swings etc. are also available for use, as well as a painting station for the older children.
All in all, we will most certainly be back, probably to host future parties as well.
Thanks also to all of the waiters and waitresses for their efficienct service on the day.

AJ’s has aways been a favorite, their revamp has taken it up a huge notch!! Calamari was exceptional, fish & chips awesome, burgers great!
We were looking for a place to quickly go out and we were very pleased with AJ’s. The services was very friendly. Food was good and good prices. They really focus on the kids and fun things for them to do. The diaper changing station was so well set in with even bum creams to choose from. The manger came twice to check up on us. Our Mother's Day afternoon spent at AJ's in the Park was wonderful. The service was a bit slow, I imagine due to them being quite busy but food was really fantastic. The lamb on the spit was a big hit and had a few of us going back for more. We will definitely be going back.
Great place to hang out with the family, if you have small kids. There was a jumping castle, jungle gym and painting activities available. The place had a nice relaxed picnic vibe. The food was good however the service was a little slow, although we did have a big group.
We were a group of 10 with kids and what an awesome Easter Sunday we all had at AJ's. The food, the jazz music and overall vibe was amazing. The kids loved the egg hunt, jumping castles and everything, they didn't want to leave they were having so much fun. Thank you for great hospitality and service, we love AJ's!

Best pizzas and great peri peri chicken. Vjok is very hands on, loves his customers and just makes the place extra special. Nice open grounds for the kids and playground toys for the smaller kids.
Wrt to the lamb spit, it's not a buffer as said. The meat is cold as left in chafing dishes and the guy who handles that part insists on dishing for you, so gives you one piece, and if you want more, you have to pay another R200 for a plate. Rather order from a la carte menu.
