My sister came home with chocolate cake slices from Château Gâteaux pastisserie, I tried all 3 of them and they were so amazing, soft and rich.
Did anyone say Best Chocolate Fondant ever? It's the stuff dreams are made of. The best part is, you can take frozen ones home to have to your hearts content. Love almost all the cakes they offer, but their Fudge Picasso is by far the best
Got pulled in by the delicious looking little desserts and cakes inside. There is a large variety on offer. The theme is very much Parisian, with French music playing throughout. The cake was delicious, as was the mud pudding. The caramel ice-cream missed the mark for though- wasn’t a fan of the ice-cream used inside or the dominating coconut flavour. Everything else was great. Worth a try!

So, Chateau Gateaux were very generously sponsoring coffee and cake for Bryanston Parkrun volunteers! Soooo glad we helped out. The chocolate cake was insanely divine and the coffee was fab.
Great spot for coffee and cake and you can buy whole cakes to take home. I dare you not to!
Delicious and fresh! We tried the strawberry cheesecake, apple and custard danish and chocolate fudge cake ( i think its called that) - loved them all and I'll be back.
Amazing chai lattes and super reasonably priced cakes. Had the Mozart which was perfect for dessert at home for around 8 people (about R150) 😱👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾Will definitely be frequenting this place for more at-home dessert purchases and when the sweet tooth acts up.
The MOST delicious desserts and cakes to take away or eat in. Every item is a mini work of art, and flavour has certainly not been sacrificed for beauty- they taste as good as they look. Also good value for money. A real treat.
I bought the Roccoo chateau cake and opted for the 8 slice which is perfect for an intimate family birthday celebration. I was just blown away at the quality and price of the cake, so moist, tasty and just gorgeous. I will be back soon to try the cookies and cream and fridge cheese cake 🎂
Last week I did return but to try the savories which were so good. The quiche was probably one of the best I have had as well the Turkish bread stuffed with ricotta and feta and the heavenly red cappuccino. So well priced and great quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions.
Amazing pastries keep it up. Coffee needs some work. But the rest of it was worth the time and the money. My wife loved your strawberry cheesecake will be back soon.
I've walked past this Château Gâteaux a couple of times and everything always looks so delicious. We finally decided to go give it a try. I ordered a large cappuccino to drink. Both the flavour and temperature were just perfect. To eat, we ordered a couple of things to share - the Strawberry Cheesecake, the Belgica Caramel Tart and the Pear and Almond Tart, which were all delicious. Out of everything, I would say that the Belgica Caramel Tart is a must have! Our waiter was pleasant and the service was quick. It's definitely a great little spot to go grab a quick coffee and perhaps a treat or two!
After the disappointing experience at Riverside this afternoon, my friend popped over to Château Gateaux to perk up our coffee date. The staff here are always friendly and helpful, and the cakes are absolutely delicious! I buy here often and have never been disappointed.
Outstanding desserts. Often when they're pretty to look at they pretty awful to eat. Not here. Tried a bit of 4 different individuals and they were all excellent. Not all to my taste but all soft, fresh and pure decadence. What a treat! Thank you.
Thursday the 13th August 2015 was no different - the opening day of the 8th Château Gâteaux Patisserie; in Riverside Shopping Centre, Bryanston.
When the doors opened, so did class, quality and the aroma of goodies that will make your wallet cry (if it had feelings). Customers were already lining up to make their purchases and an ambience of excellence was present. Cakes, Cheesecakes, every type of Baked Dessert screamed at you to ‘buy me.’ My experience at this store was unforgettable as the staff were friendly and helpful and the Patisserie’s standard of cleanliness was impeccable.
Worth a stop when meeting friends, because sugar makes everything better! Lovely little place, with good outdoor seating. They also have heaters for the colder days. Their New York cheesecake is heavenly! The chocolate chip cookie, not so much. More oily than buttery, and not the best flavours altogether. Cheesecake is creamy and crumbly. I ordered another one to take home! The tarte au chocolat is also rich and creamy. So good.
When you look at their spread, you'll see quite a mixed variety of sweet treats from all over the globe. I immediately assumed I'd stepped into a little Parisienne Patisserie as Edith Piaf sang through their speakers, and I was pleasantly surprised to see their spread. Definitely worth a visit or four. Or even a takeaway in very pretty packaging.
I had a cookies and cream slice and ow my god it felt like heaven on my tongue. Mom had a pear and almond slice and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The lady at the till was really nice and bubbly and gave awesome advice on the cakes. An absolute gem of a place, I sure will make a comeback to taste all the varieties 😊
I adore this place! Their cakes are so divine. Last night I tried the Rococo Chocolate Cake, Passionate Cheesecake, and the Fudge cake. I found the cheesecake to be different from other cheesecakes, but the consistency was really good. I found the fudge cake to be very sweet. I will definitely get my birthday cake from here!
What a fantastic spot. The staff are friendly and passionate. And really efficient. And the good stuff - the Picasso Fudge is a firm favourite, but the Belgica Caramel Tart, Red Velvet and chocolate croissants are as great. And try a hazelnut latte to top off the sweet stuff. Do yourself a favour and get some of the Melting Moments or Chocolate Chip biscuits to take home for tea time.
Great coffee, and even better cake! The serving size is palatable unlike some other coffee shops that almost serve up a whole cake! The selection is crazy and expect high quality. We had coffee and cake for two on a sunny morning and it felt like a real treat.
All my pastries... I don't have a sweet tooth but I visit this place every month. Great and friendly service. Never had a problem with them ever.

If you appreciate a well made European pastry, tart or cake then this is the place for you! There is a massive selection of delectable continental treats, so you'd have to limit yourself and make it a weekly spoil, as the sheer variety will make you want to taste everything on the spot.
I come back again and again to try out these beauties, as they have caused some serious tastebud dependency issues for me.
There is something for everyone - whether you're a chocolate fan, cheesecake lover or favor a French inspire tart.
The best part is, you can also take home a whole cake (at a very decent price) and indulge out of public view. They're frozen, using a sophisticated technique, to seal in freshness and ensure the best flavour. Simply follow the defrosting instructions and.... Ta-da!, as if it was made today!
The coffee is another reason I keep coming back here. A bold espresso blend with a velvety texture and smooth taste - seriously addictive.
If you're tired of the usual cakes and bakes offering that is oh-so-similar at the average cafe in Joburg, then do yourself a favour and swing by for what will be the beginning of a sweet affair.

Went here for a treat after the Bryanston parkrun. Although it is not specifically catered for as a sit down cafe/ restaurant, there are a few tables to sit down and enjoy cake and coffee. Due to the prices I would recommend only for special occasions. The size of the cake slices and other pastries are decent, however I would not say the price is worth it. The cakes are delicious and a lot of effort goes into the cakes to ensure a high quality. I would visit more often if the price went down a bit
Delicious and fresh desserts. Nice variety too. The deserts are made in Durban and frozen then Sent to JHB. What's nice is you can buy them frozen and take them home and freeze till you want to eat them
If you're craving sweet things and a coffee head on over to sweet tooth haven, this shop is filled with cakes and creams of all kinds. It's based on a French bistro, with cakes from chocolate, strawberries, caramel and coffee. Yum yum yum!!!! Not to mention their coffee and amazing mint, lemon and strawberry water!!!!!! I think I'm in heaven.
What an awesome spot in Riverside centre! The staff are friendly and helpful which makes a good impression. The selection of cakes is fantastic. I ordered the Vanilla crumble cheese cake and it was delicious! Not too rich as well. Will definitely be back :)

I am very, very concerned about having this small, seemingly innocuous patisserie so close to home. Methinks my thighs may be expanding rapidly in the next few weeks.
First of all, the friendly miles and banter from the staff is a welcome relief after the bored, hurrumphs that are usually experienced at coffee kiosks around this lovely city.
The coffe itself is thick and rich - at least to my taste. I have tried the doppio espresso - a real kick to the system - as well as their cappuccino, which was suitably creamy and full-bodied.
But let me not stray too far from the real issue at hand: the cakes.
After utilising all the manipulative weapons in my arsenal, I finally got my husband to treat me to a visit - no holds barred. I was actually very well behaved and settled for one of their giant choc-chip cookies, which are crispy and sweet along the edge and soft and gooey in the centre. Then I had to have a slice of carrot cake, which was very fruity and moist, with just the right amount of frosting (I am not afraid of frosting). Finally, I couldn't resist their chocolate brownie, which I was devastated to have to share. It was heaven. That's all I can say.
So, if you're having a tough day, or you're feeling blue, or if it's simply 2pm and you feel like celebrating the fact that you are alive, swing past Chateau Gateaux and indulge in a little piece of heaven.
The best dessert place in Joburg. So much to choose from and all so good. The cappuccinos are a perfect delicious combination to go with your choice of treats. The staff are great, super friendly & helpful. I'll definitely be back for more!
Chateau Gâteaux is one of my favourite patisseries and their selections of pastries, biscuits, tarts and cakes are simply perfection!
In fact, their desserts closely resemble works of art, rather than actual edible cakes (and all of these are handmade from scratch). Think tarts, glazes, mousses, bavarois, caramels, meringues, japonaise…Think individual decadent gâteaux complimented perfectly by a bitter, rich 100% Arabica coffee.
On the 'cakes for 1' as I like to call them, my favourites are:
1. Cookies & Cream2. Fudge Picasso3. Mississippi Mud Pie
*Recommendation: For those men (or women) trying to impress on a date or just to spoil that special someone pick up one of their heart-shaped Southern Red Velvet Individual Gâteaux (chocolate cake with a cream cheese frosting and macaroon garnish) - pic attached!

They only have a small seating area (2-3 tables) so keep that in mind if you plan to sit down.
Their cakes are delicious and love that they sell slices on Uber eats! The red velvet, rocco chocolate, carrot cake and Mozart are my favorites.

Great cakes for all occasions. Variety of luxurious cakes to choose. Gets quite busy but staff are fast and efficient. Mozart Cake for the win. Easy and fast especially if you're in a hurry. Will keep going back for more to this happy place!

I love buying cake from here and I usually buy the whole frozen cakes. The variety box is quite nice and recently I purchased the red velvet cheese cake - amazing and definitely worth trying out.

Beautiful little place with delicious drinks and cakes. I had a very refreshing lemonade and mint drink and a slice of the mozart cake which was absolutely heavenly.
