Spotted them at a food market, loved the food and was totally blown away when I found them next to the nail spot. The food delicious as always and the cocktails to die for. Its on the main road so there is parking at the back behind andiccio.

The food is amazing and the cocktails are delicious. Honestly one of my new favourite places to eat.

The place itself is a little dirty and in a dodgy area. But the food is absolutely amazing! Hands down some of the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. This includes comparing it to very upmarket restaurants.

This is serious fried chicken. Done the right way. Could eat it everyday. The bao is fantastic and highly recommend one of the jam jar cocktails. An interesting fusion with an Asian twist. For sit down or take away, this will meet your hunger needs. Pretty reasonably priced as well

One of the best places to eat in Jozzies. Grab a delicious burger or one of their fried chicken meals with a delicious beer, you won't be disappointed! Also keep an eye out for them at local music festivals!

The new kid on the block is a DELICIOUS addition to Grant Avenue. If you've been to a number of markets in JHB you're bound to have come across their food. I ordered the gujon chicken which went down with zero complaints. The chicken was crispy and fresh, the sauce that comes with the chicken and Asian slaw is just too good, couldn't get enough! Do yourself a favour and pay them a visit.

The food is excellent with some of the friendliest waitrons in the city. It is a very fun spot to be and the atmosphere is created by the waitrons. Their gujon chicken and gao bao buns are delicious.

Always one of my first go to options in the Fourways market and/or any market they are at. There finger foods they offer is really good and the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are so unusual and refreshing, you can’t just have one, you will have to go back for more!

Every time I go to a farmers market and see Sumting Fresh it’s the first food I gravitate to so imagine my excitement when I found out they have a little restaurant in Norwood. <br/><br/>What I had:<br/>* I had the Gujon chicken which is chicken strips with Asian slaw, sweet-chili sauce, fries with Parmesan and watermelon. <br/>* When I go to a farmers market I also get a winging it which is just as tasty as the gujon chicken. <br/>* They also have cute juice jam jars which are so yum. <br/><br/>So glad they have a restaurant so whenever I feel for Sumting Fresh and can’t find a market that has them then here is where I will be.

The service was incredible, everyone is so happy. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was such a nice vibe. Cocktails were so yummy and the food is so so good. Love this little spot

We were lucky enough to stumble across the Sumting Fresh food stall at The Horwoods Family Market this afternoon. We ordered the Italian stallion and it has got to be one of the best things I have ever eaten! Absolutely mind blowing and the gentleman taking the orders was just such a ray of sunshine and happiness. Amazing job guys! We will most definitely visit the actual restaurant soon.<br/>

This restaurant on grant always has delicious food and the staff are very friendly and welcoming! Never disappointed however prices are getting a bit high.

Let’s not beat about the bush. This place is fantastic. I knew before I arrived that it would be. I was first exposed to their food at Neighbourgoods Market and I’d been wondering why they didn’t have a restaurant, till I searched for it. Took me too long. The Gua Bao Bun is my go to, but having tasted a few other foods on the menu, really you can eat anything and leave well and truly satisfied. The ambience is nothing to bang on about at home, but I think it’s forgivable to an extent. The service is what we’ve come to expect of Sumting Fresh and the food is priced very well.<br/><br/>One thing, the restaurant has five tables inside, not sure about outside, so it could be and issue if you arrive en masse.

Food was amazing and the service is quick and polite. It’s a must if you’re in the Norwood area! I can’t recommend it enough! One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too.

I’m obsessed with their Cajun chicken strips. They’re so addictive!!! Crispy, succulent with that awesome sweet tangy sauce and Parmesan cheese shavings. Oh let’s not forget the devilish fries underneath it all. I mean wow guys!! This is a real winner 👍🏽

Visited sumting fresh on 10/12/17. I only had two dishes , the buttermilk wings with chips and corn topped with parmesan and gua bao buns filled with fried chicken. Very very nice. Keamo

I would love to be a more regular regular...the food is amazing. The simple menu may scare off those who are used to 8 trill menu items, but at Sumting Fresh, as the name suggests keeps it fresh and every item is delicious.

Really good, well executed and tasty fare. The menu is simple but provides all one requires for some deep-fried delights. We had the wings (wingingit) and the gua bao. Both were delicious and hit the spot. Our sparkling water came with fresh fruit which was a nice touch (also highlighting their name). <br/><br/>Service was good and that means all in all we'll be back!

Went for a quick bite. Food was delicious a bit pricey overall the staff were very friendly and polite. We had eaten Sumthing Fresh at the Fourways Farmers Market so we knew the brand. We are very happy to have them on our doorstep. Thanks for a great meal and virgin cocktails.

Great food and value for money. We had the famous gaijin chicken and tried the Gua Bao buns which was so awesome fresh, light, and crispy chicken. The watermelon and berry jam jars was awesome. A must try if you visiting Johannesburg.

I always enjoy coming to sumting Fresh. The staff are beyond friendly and give the restaurant a great vibe. The decor currently is simple and clean however the restaurant itself and the menu and are being revamped soon. The menu revamp will apparently keep the current menu items and include some exciting additions. I am looking forwards to seeing the update. With the current menu I can’t even choose my favorite meal as so far everything I have tried I thoroughly enjoy. The chicken is always fresh hot and crispy.

12.05 2017 Wet rainy weather and you want some yummy food. Been wanting to try this place for a while. Great vibe and friendly service with the staff all quite happy which is always great to see then you know the food is made with love. I ordered 4 different items <br/><br/>1. Gujon Chicken - crumbed deep fried chicken strips / Asian slaw / Watermelon / Aioli / Sweet Chilli sauce and Parmesan fries. <br/>2. Gua Bao Buns - 2 Taiwanese steamed buns / Crumbed deep Fried Deboned Chicken Thigh with Sriracha Hot Sauce Mayo<br/>3. Winging It - 4 Deep Fried Buttermilk Chicken Wings / Corn on the Cob / Parmesan Cheese Fries.<br/>4. Italian Stallion - 2 Crumbed Deep Fried Chicken Breast / Boiled Bagel Bun / Napoletana Sauce / Parmesan Cheese fries. <br/><br/>Although everything tasted good and I really enjoyed the Bao Buns but it lacked sauce. I think the portion sizes are a bit small for the prices, and the chips were extremely oily. <br/><br/>Will try them again sometime in the future. <br/><br/>

The thing about sumting fresh is if you live in jhb and frequent outdoor events you must have come across these guys. Famous for the cocktail jars and chicken goujons. Though since the restaurant opened other items have been added. There bao, steamed buns are the softest , smoothest I've had, filled with the crispy chicken. There has also been soft tacos which were yum too. Fresh ingredients always used and such happiness when they prep your food.

Can I just tell you how excited I was when I drove past this the first time. We all know Sumting Fresh from the various markets and festivals. Well, they have a shop now...YAY!!! And we don't need to wait for the markets to experience their scrumptious chicken strips coz when the cravings got you, you need to head to Norwood. It's really injecting more fun to the Norwood strip of eateries.

Everything is delicious! Fresh in every sense of the word, taste and presentation. The staff are beyond amazing. Watermelon crush all the way. Could easily eat here everyday. Please don't miss out, you won't regret it.

What a lovely, fresh approach to an almost "pop-up"-like restaurant. <br/><br/>I love the all white room and white lights etc. the staff is extremely happy, friendly and jolly. The guys behind the counter managed to turn my quick lunch into quite the experience, between showing me the history of the restaurant and cracking jokes nonstop its definitely a must see. the gao boo bun was fresh, flavourful and fantastic, will definitely be back !

Great service, wonderful owner and super delicious different food. Only suggestion would be for some some fish or beef to be added to their menu for more variety.<br/>Can't wait for them to get their liquor license, their jam jars are already yummy but a cocktail would go down super well :-)

I was so excited to hear that Sumting Fresh was opening up a restaurant in Norwood. I've had their famous chicken strips and chips at the Fourways Farmers' Market on so many occasions and it's always a winner.<br/><br/>The restaurant is small and simple with only a couple of tables. The staff are friendly and create an awesome vibe at the restaurant just like they do at the market. We had just sat down and the power went so we were worried that they wouldn't be able to serve us but luckily it was just their power that had run out. Things were back up and running within a couple of minutes.<br/><br/>The menu is also very small, but believe me when I say they do a few things and do them really good. We ordered three dishes off the menu to share - the Gujon Chicken (which goes without saying), the Italian Stallion and the Guo Bao. All three dishes were amazing and I'd definitely recommend them. To drink, we ordered the watermelon crush jam jar, which is exactly like the ones you get at the market minus the alcohol. The jam jar was both delicious and refreshing.<br/><br/>The service was good, the food was delicious and vibe was awesome - what more could you ask for? I will definitely be back!

Love this place!!!!! Okay, so my waistline doesn't, but she didn't get a say in the matter tonight. The best fried chicken I've ever tasted. The Gujon Chicken Strips, the Wings, the chips... even the mielie! They were all such yummy guilty pleasures! The service is friendly and you are greeted with an enthusiastic song :) Their juices are a bit too sweet for my taste, but I know a lot of people enjoy them at the markets! Highly recommend this gem :)

Oh my word yes! I've recently also tried their food at the Monte Xmas village. Yum.<br/>I love their food and upbeat attitude towards food. Unusual unique tastes and flavours, FRESH food which is hard to find recently, and a consistent delicious taste and product.

Something fresh really did pop up in Norwood!! Went to Sumthing Fresh during lunch, only to be welcomed in with big smiles and many recommendations. I had the Gujon Chicken (just talking about it makes my mouth water) was so full of flavor and freshness, I was left so satisfied and happy.

Was so excited to see another new addition to the Grant Avenue scene. Popped by for a take away dinner. Quite a small, simple set up. I ordered the 'winging it' and the bao.<br/><br/>I'm pretty sure I was given the special, Hong Kong chicken, instead of the item I ordered. In any event it was a yummy hot/slightly sweet fried chicken wings dish with awesome parmesan corn and fries. They were really generous with the parmesan but hey, I ain't complaining. <br/><br/>The bao was really good, very slightly dry though..I'm used to the bread being a little more moist. But the chicken and sauces were great. <br/><br/>Overall, good food, quick service. I'll def be back for a quick take away.<br/>

First found this little gem when they had a food truck in Midrand, then they were at festivals and markets. So happy they opened the restaurant in Norwood. Their food is amazingly yummy and superb quality.

What a great new addition to Norwood's ever-expanding food offering! Tried Sumting Fresh for the first time tonight and enjoyed it so much that I felt the need to share the good news almost immediately. The menu is small with only 4 food items but my partner and I have just tasted 3 out of those 4 and everything was really, really delicious! They seem to be going for the small-menu-but-do-everything-really-well angle and it is working. We have been told that we can expect more items to be added as time passes. The flavours are Asian-inspired and translate really well. All of our dishes were well prepared and seemingly simple but really interesting and vibrant. The portion sizes are also incredibly generous for the very reasonable price tag. The restaurant is small and simple without many frills but it just opened this week so that may change with time. If you can't tell by now, I'm really exited about this new spot and you should be too! Do yourself a favour and try it before it's no longer a well-kept secret!

Sumting Fresh is so good, I ate here twice on my first day trying it: Lunch and Dinner! They're brand new so the menu is quite limited right now, but the food was amazing. Really tasty, deep fried chicken and corn on the cob, well seasoned chips, all smothered in Parmesan cheese, and let's not forget the amazing value, R80 for a massive portion! The interior of the shop is a bit bare but I'm sure they'll work on that in time, and they've promised to add more delicious items to the menu. We were really impressed and will be back for sure.

All I can say is beautiful, fresh and tasty food with staff that light up the whole Street. Welcome to the neighbourhood. So happy to have you!
