Perfect Saturday afternoon experience. Great service and food. Decent pricing on (fairly limited but well balanced) wine list.

This is probably one of the best Thai restaurants in the country! Besides the beautiful ambiance the staff are extremely friendly and understand the menu well. This place is a fine dining establishment which is great for business meetings or to visit with loved ones.<br/><br/>There is a great variety of vegetarian items on their menu and there is something for everyone from starters to desserts. Their spring rolls and Har Gao (Dim sum) is so fresh and tasty and definitely recommended. Their Suki Num soup with tofu is a generous portion full of vegetables - this is not something you will find at other establishments so it is well worth trying.<br/><br/>For mains I would recommend one of their stir fries which are freshly prepared and best accompanied with steamed or egg fried rice (to soak up the juices) or egg fried noodles.<br/><br/>I will definitely be back in the near future to try some sushi or other items that I love on their menu.

A true gem in bedfordview! If you love authentic Thai food then Erawan is definitely the place to go. The restaurant is decorated impeccably and the service is brilliant. We had the crispy duck and we were not disappointed, it was succulent and perfectly cooked. For dessert we had the fried bananas which were divine and decadent. A restaurant that must be tried!

We chose this restaurant in anticipation of our Thailand trip to set the tone and get ourselves acquainted with some thai dishes. We were not disappointed.<br/><br/>The first impression is the beautiful setting. A classy cosy establishment without the intense snobbery associated with bedfordview residents. Only criticism here is that some tables are a little too close to other tables. The menu is thoughtful and a breath of fresh air from the normal run of the mill menus. The wine list with the pairings is a thoughtful and useful guide for us occasional wine drinkers.<br/><br/>We started with a not so thai but definitely asian dim sum selection all of which were delicious and packed with filling. Only wish we had 4 per portion instead of the usual 3 for the price.<br/><br/>Our mains were definitely thai and very new to us. Delicious, fresh and tasty is how I can describe the food and I am going to be back to try a medium duck dish for certain. The desserts were unique and a perfect end to a wonderful night.<br/><br/>All in all well worth the experience and the price tag. If you want an experience and so far the best thai food in Joburg this is it.

Disappointed. The chef is not even Thai. Food is below average. Ambience is alright. At one point had a lot of noise coming from the kitchen, people just yelling and talking loudly. They kept at it for a while without any regard for the guests sitting at the restaurant. <br/><br/>Came here craving Thai food but it was big let down. Not coming back for sure.

Erawan is simply beautiful. This restaurant utilizes its space perfectly while establishing a stunning Thai theme visually. The manager is extremely friendly and accommodating was the waitress/ bartender that assisted us. <br/><br/>The food here is incredible and very much worth its price. Better yet, its preparation time is about 20 minutes which is very fast considering the complexity of the dishes available. I highly recommend the duck dishes and sushi. <br/><br/>Erawan is the best Asian inspired restaurant I've been to in awhile and rivals other great franchises like koi. Excellent all round!

Erawan is such a delight. The elegant decor, with generous spacing between each table makes it a lovely place for a grown up moment. The presentation of the food is skillful and you can taste the pretty. Service is additionally attentive. Best Thai restaurant I've been to.

Being a Vegetarian my review is limited to only veg dishes.<br/>Hot and Sour soup was not very great , it was with red curry sauce. The clear soup with glass noddles was nice.<br/>Veg Dimsum was good, so was spring roll.<br/>The Veg Noddles that we had , I think had the Oyster sauce / Fish Sauce and had a pungent smell of the same, being vegetarian I did not like the same.<br/>Green Curry was actually good and fragrant, goes well with Jasmine Rice.<br/>Advise : if you can't handle spicy food order mild .<br/>We ordered hot and next dishes were all medium.<br/>Will go again to try rest if the veg fare. There are number of options.<br/><br/><br/>

By far the BEST authentic Thai restaurant around! The decor is beautifully designed with feature elements of Thai culture. The service is top-notch and the food is consistently delicious! All dishes can be ordered Mild/ Medium/ Hot/ Thai Style... if you can't handle the heat I suggest Mild and even that choice comes with some chilli kick to it. Favorite dishes include the Dim Sum, Stir-fry Cashew and the Ba Me Prik Phao. However, I am not a fan of their sushi. Take aways are offered at a 10% discount on orders and are a nice indulgence for nights in.

Excellent service and food πŸ‘Œ. Eaten at numerous Asian restaurants and this is one of the best. This is a must try especially the green curry. Thanks

The food is always great but the service is shocking! The maitre d' has a don't care attitude and behaves likes hes doing you a favour.Β  TheΒ  rest of the serving staff clearly reflect this attitude. There is no sign of management presence.
Khuthala Worx
It was worth it! This restaurant is on the other side of town...my town and I had to sit in bad traffic to get to them but worth it. The food was good. The service and our waiter Leon did a good job. I just love cozy restaurants with just right service. See you soon...
Dumi
Excellent spot for groups or on your own. It's an oasis of peace for a late lunch with a good book and great food even if you're not a sushi-being. But if you are try the prawn roof for transportation.
Tina Botha
Best Thai food in joburg, fast, efficient, friendly service and a calm relaxing ambience. Their Cashew prawns as a main is devine and my husband swears by their pad thai. The chocolate spring rolls are my kids' favourite.
Samantha Nel
Came here for a family dinner and had really a great experience all round! Great atmosphere! Great service! Awesome food! Really a great place and we will be back!
Dan
Pad Thai was disappointingly unauthentic. Served with lemon squeeze instead of lime. Noodle was too wet with no traces of fried egg. <br/><br/>Tom Yum Gung was passable. <br/><br/>Decoration was nice and staff were excellent.
Georgette Brook
It is our first time here and we weren't quite sure what to expect but wow thr food is amazing and the service is great would highly recommend visiting this little gem!
Natasha
This is my go to place, once a week for great Thai. I usually do takeaways. The Pad Thai tofu, mild with egg is consistently good. Their mild is exactly that, so its still spicy but delicious. I tired their vegetarian California rolls today, fresh and tasty.<br/><br/>The decor is beautifully simple and elegant.<br/><br/>The staff are always friendly, welcoming and knowleagble.<br/>
Debbie Van Vuuren
Work lunch ladies only. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the dumpling starter and the crispy duck main. Could not fault them on anything from presentation to portion size to taste and flavor. Will definitely be back with the bf for date night to sample the rest of the menu.
Florenz0
I didn't book but the reception and service from staff was excellent and warm. Such pleasant people:) I had the most Amazing soup ever! Hot just the way I like it but absolutely divine! I'm so in love...I will do anything for that recipe :) When I go out to eat this is the kind of reception, service and food I don't mind paying for!
The Foodie
What an awesome experience I had on my first visit to Erawan. One of the more finer Thai restaurants in Johannesburg, Erawan boasts a sophisticated relaxed atmosphere with great food . Service was on the other hand was average. For starters we tried the prawn roof california rolls, basically the equivalent of a rock shrimp tempura ,delightful ! Kids tried satai gai /chicken skewered served with a sweet peanut sauce ..and loved it. For mains my wife opted for the chicken stir fry . Word of advice when it comes to Thai food, always go for medium to hot , mild is too bland to enjoy an authentic thai dish. For my main I opted for the chefs special of crispy fried fish in a Thai chili sauce , bursting with flavours of sweetness and soy , complimented the fish nicely ! On the whole a great dining experience perfect for that special occasion !

Wow, what a pleasure! Started off with some great complimentary prawn chips and dip, smooth red wine and tasty prawn dim sums. Then it got even better...delicious pork noodles, yum. We'll be back...keep our seat!
Courtney StarBerry
We were underwhelmed when leaving Erawan Thai Restaurant despite looking forward to it for some time.<br/>From the outside it looks exotic and classy so we were obviously drawn to it, especially as it has so many good reviews. Once entering we found the decor to actually be quite kitsch. <br/>We were taken to our table and served by a very friendly waiter who knew the menu very well and made various recommendations. <br/>We were lucky enough to arrive in time for half priced cocktails. The cocktails are very good; we tried both the strawberry daiquiri and a mojito and both were refreshing with a good kick.<br/>To eat we ordered the sa la pao nuea (spicy beef dumplings); har gao (spinach and cream cheese dumplings); the jasmine sushi platter and the ba me pri phao (spicy egg noodles with cashews and tofu). The sa la pao nuea were delicious and definitely my favourite of the night but the rest was average. All the dishes were plated well but not spectacular which is very disappointing when you take into consideration their hefty price.<br/>For dessert I ordered the banana fritters which were terrible. They were not fritters, I was served solid chunks of underripe bananas fried in batter. I left it after having taken three bites. <br/>Overall we were disappointed when we left having expected great food but being served average food that cost more than it should have. The cocktails and dim sum are nice and the waiters are very friendly but otherwise I would give Erawan Thai Restaurant a skip.
Sasha Wickstrom
Best Thai restaurant in Joburg! We are regulars here, dim sum is to die for- especially the spinach and cream cheese one! Sushi yum! My boyfriend always has the crispy duck and pancakes. Even the coffee is impressive! Keep it up!

This is my FAVOURITE restaurant right now....WOW WOW WOW..we went for a farewell dinner for one of our directors..what a lovely setting and decor is gorgeous..we had a variety of sushi (I don't usually eat sushi) but my gosh the sushi here is PHENOMENAL..it just melted away in my mouth..it also had the crispy fish with egg fried rice and this was great too..for dessert I had the chocolate mousse - I honestly felt like I was heaven..it was silky, smooth and decadent..it will definitely be back over and over again

So, this is the highest scoring Thai restaurant in Joburg, and we drove a long way to have lunch here. Mmmm. Not sure if it deserves the accolade. <br/>Restaurant is beautiful and staff great but the food is sorely lacking in true Thai authenticity. <br/><br/>Some dishes had the exact same sauce, same garnish and tasted similar with just different proteins. Dim sums were bland and uninspiring. <br/><br/>Nothing was exceptional as the Zomato score would suggest. Much better and more authentic Thai restaurants in Joburg. Not worth the drive or the money.
Cherise Vogt
Beautiful restaurant with great service. Had the spinach dumplings for starter, absolutely delicious. My main course was the cashew nut stir fry with rice noodles. Portions are on the small side. I ordered my main very mild but it was super spicy. Really unhappy about that as I hate food that burns. The tofu in the dish was yummy. For dessert I had the dark chocolate mouse which was rich and tasty. Will definitely be going there again.

World of flavors dancing on your tongue πŸ‘ŒπŸ½ amazing decor, friendly staff. The food took a while to get to us but really wonderful place. I'd definitely come back here again
Kay
Had a very nice dining experience. Went here after reading the reviews. Food was very good - closest to the real Thai flavour I have had so far in Johannesburg. The decoration and atmosphere is great and so was the service!
Nthabiseng Chaane
We chose this place on a whim, best decision. The decor and ambience are wonderful. Although they were low in staff the food made up for it. We started with the savory chicken mince and chicken satay which were full of flavour. We then had the prawn roof which was fresh and the prawn crispy. We ended the meal with the crispy duck which looks like the picture in the menu! A thoroughly enjoyable and filling meal will go back.
The SA Food Guru
This Thai inspired restaurant in Riverside Centre is nicely decorated and features a large al fresco dining section as well. <br/><br/>The menu offers a large variety of traditional and more "localized " Thai cuisine. Their staff are well trained and provided a good service during our dinner.<br/><br/>Most importantly, I felt that there was a lack of authenticity in terms of the food, and I've not been back since my first visit. Perhaps I'll give it another go sometime in the future... <br/><br/>Other than that, it is a perfectly good spot for a value for money meal out.
Claire
I really enjoyed the space and atmosphere. The staff are friendly, welcoming and willing to offer helpful suggestions. The food is delicious but you must make sure to specify mild if you have sensitive taste buds.<br/>I had a starter and a main and I was so stuffed I couldn't have dessert. Their portions are large but so moreish that before you know it you have polished off your entire meal.<br/>You start with a bowl of prawn chips with a trio of dipping sauces which is great to nibble while deciding on what to order. <br/>Their menu is varied but not too big. They have sushi as well as typical Thai dishes and some lovely chef specialties. I highly recommend any of the dumplings and the sweet and sour crispy pork is a winner if you like your sweet and sour more to the sweet side. <br/>We were the last the ones there and not once did we feel like we had to leave.<br/>I would defiantly go back if only to try the sushi which looked truly appetizing.

Decided to try out the food after seeing this place on a food blog and I must say it was really good, definitely not the best Thai food I've had in JHB but this restaurant is definitely in my top 4.. the food is reasonably priced and the decor and layout of the restaurant is stunning! definitely a great place for a romantic night out.
Paula Dow
After reading many good reviews about this restaurant my husband and I decided to try it out on a Friday evening. The restaurant is very stylish with great decor. We started off with some dim sum which were delicious. Highly recommended. I had a look at the wine menu but didn't order any as I found the wines to all be extremely expensive. For mains my husband ordered crispy pork while I had a chicken red Thai curry. Both were flavoursome and a good size however considering the crispy pork was essentially a few pieces of crackling with veg I found R120 to be quite pricey. Dessert was the biggest disappointment for me. We ordered banana fritters which come served with ice cream. At R50 it's just not worth it. Drinks were also pretty heavy at R25 a Coke. Overall a tasty meal but much too expensive for what it was

Must say I love Thai and so I usually have very high expectations compared with any other type of restaurant. Visited Erawan Thai Restaurant for a business lunch, so the place was quiet with only a few tables occupied. There was a very good wine selection! The decor is nice and feels very upmarket. I have to say the service or speed of food arriving after placing the orders was not good! We ordered sushi for the table, and the first lot only arrived about 30 min later and still then came in stages. The mains were a little quicker but still not quick! I ordered the crispy duck, very mild, which was good but not so very mild! So overall a good restaurant but definitely areas for improvement.

This place ticks all the boxes. <br/>Good atmosphere, fantastic food and the wine is good too. <br/>I love Sushi! Having said that, I'm of the opinion that if a place makes good Salmon Roses, everything else sushi wise will be good...... And they didn't disappoint . My mains was the pan fried pork with egg flied lice and that was superb.<br/>Word of caution. When the waitron ask you hot medium etc ...... Know that hot mean HOT πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯<br/>Apparently there is another level after hot, I'me think they called it dead
Amy Desdemona Pavadal
Came in without a reservation but, we were fortunate enough to still be seated, great ambience, friendly service & reasonable prices. I usually order hot meals, but get mild however, these people know the meaning of hot Stoil Michaylov thanks for a great evening

We have been to Erawan many times and will continue to go, especially when we feel the desire for authentic Thai food but with an elegant ambiance. Whether a group or just the two of us, it is consistently good! Just don't order it hot....

This place is one for the memory bank. I absolutely loved everything that was put in front of me. <br/><br/>Prawn chips β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/>Crispy duck pancakes β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/>Prawn roof sushi β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/>Dim sum (was unfortunately a bit too spicy for me) β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/>Deep fried banana fritters β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/>Chocolate mousse β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/>Chocolate spring rolls β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/>Rice pudding β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†<br/><br/>Unfortunately my dad did not love his main and it is a bit pricey to be a frequent stop. <br/><br/>Great service and beautiful look and feel.<br/><br/>Thank you for a beautiful evening

We have been dying to try Erawan Bryanston for some time now, and were so glad we managed to get a booking.Β  My husband has been on a never ending quest to find a restaurant that can make Crispy Duck and Pancakes just like he remembers having in London years ago. And behold! at last he has found them. DELICIOUS!!!! A must try, half a deboned duck thinly sliced and served with cucumber and spring onion, homemade pancakes with Hoisin and plum dipping sauces..... scrumptious!
Anisha Lutchman
Erawan has been a bucket list restaurant for a while now. We have tried to make a reservation at the Bryanston restaurant on two occasions but it has always been fully booked. This time, we ventured out into the Bedfordview area and decided to pop into the Erawan there for a mid-week dinner a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant is both stunning and spacious - decor and ambience are both beautiful making you feel like you're in a proper fine dining restaurant.<br/><br/>I'm a huge fan of Thai food and if you're looking for authentic Thai cuisine then Erawan is right up your alley. I ordered a hot prawn Thai green curry with egg fried rice. The flavours were amazing and the curry had a quite a bite to it. I definitely wouldn't suggest ordering the Thai style even if you do think you can handle the heat as the hot was pretty spicy. My sister ordered a Phad Thai and my brother-in-law ordered the crispy Thai pork - both were delicious and packed full of flavour. <br/><br/>It was my sister's birthday a couple of days before so I asked the waiter if they could sing for her - they played a happy birthday tune in the background and brought her the most divine chocolate mousse I have ever tasted. <br/><br/>Our waiter was friendly and super helpful. The service was quick and the food was truly impressive. This has definitely got to be one of my favourite Thai restaurants!
Trevor
Went to Erawan Bedfordview for Saturday lunch. Have been to Bryanston outlet so decided to try this one in Bedfordview.<br/>Quite a big restaurant with good decor and an outside section as well. Well appointed and aesthetically pleasing on the eye.<br/>For starters we shared Har Gao - spinach and cream cheese dumplings served with Thai style soya sauce, Kui- Chay dumplings with prawns chives , a Thai soya and spicy chilli sauce and lastlyTempura prawns. All were mouth wateringly delicious.<br/>For mains we had cucumber Maki and the more adventurous crispy duck with vegetables and oyster sauce mushrooms chilli garlic and herbs. Lastly sweet and sour pork stir fry. Egg fried rice was added to that. <br/>The best review is that the plates were swept clean within minutes. Testament to great tastes and superbly fresh ingredients.<br/>For dessert we had sticky rice pudding with lychees and banana fritters with vanilla ice cream drizzled with honey.<br/>A great meal. <br/>Wine selection was impressive. We choose Tokara Sav Blanc<br/>Cost per head R376<br/>Only one concern - restaurant was quite empty. Hope they survive because food was top notch<br/>
Lisa
Beautiful decor and attention to detail makes Erawan one of my favorite restaurants at the moment. Staff are amazing, tentative and efficient. Food is mmmmm delicious, sushi, spring rolls and let's not for get the crispy duck. If duck is not your thing the crispy pork is just as delicious.
Andre Breytenbach
Food, venue & service all top notch! Β The perfect spot for fine dining Thai style. Try the steamed and deep fried dumplings they absolutely stunning! A must visit - everything on the menu is absolute stunning!!!!!Plenty of parking, security and safe environment. Beware of Van Buuren the MPD love setting up roadblocks

Been here twice. Quality of food never disappoints. Duck Red Curry is the best I've had. Service is awesome. Will always come back to this warm hidden gem ...

A few of my friends could not make my birthday lunch on Sunday so we met up with them on Wednesday for dinner at Erawan. We have tried to get a booking at the Bryanston branch a few times but they are always fully booked. This time we were in luck at the Bedfordview branch. It's much bigger than the Bryanston one. The decor is stunning and elegant. Thai food is my favourite cuisine and this was the best Thai food I have had since going to Thailand. My Phad Thai was packed with flavour and so hot. My sister had the Thai Green Prawn Curry which was also amazing. They played a Happy Birthday song for me and brought me a beautiful chocolate mousse dessert. I don't really like mousse but this one was divine. Lovely restaurant, have to go back to try out more dishes and dessert. Word of advice don't order Thai Style Hot. I ordered hot which was mind blowing so I can only imagine what Thai Style would be like.
Vishal Mistry
Been wanting to try Erawan for sometime. After many failed attempts at the Bryanston branch, due to its popularity and never have they had availability, I eventually got to the Bedfordview one. The restaurant is fantastically laid out and has great decor and ambience. I ordered the Crispy Thai Pork which was everything and more, great bite size pieces of pork belly with crispy crackling. I was tossed up between the hot and thai style options, and was advised that thai style would blow my head off so I went with the hot. Which had a hit to it, but not too hot. My wife ordered the Chicken Phad Thai which is the best and close to what I had in Thailand, absolutely sensational. To finish off we had a complimentary chocolate mousse (it was my wife's birthday) which was pure deliciousness.

22.06.2016. If you are looking for authentic Thai cuisine this place is a must try. We had originally planned to go elsewhere but their times were problematic. So we decided we will give Erawan a try. I can honestly say I haven't had such amazing flavourful thai food since I was in Thailand.<br/><br/>The service was impeccable and friendly staff. I loved the decor and colour schemes of the restaurant and even just the table layout.<br/><br/>Our food was promptly brought to us both starters and mains... everything was delicious. We had a variety of starters - crispy wontons -LOVED the crunch and flavour; the chicken dim sum steamed which was quite full on filling and the 3rd one I can't remember I think curry puffs<br/>Our mains consisted on massaman curry, sweet and sour crispy pork (which had the crispiest pork ever) and chicken and cashews curry along with egg fried rice.<br/><br/>Not forgetting during the week they have specials on sushi and cocktails and my cosmopolitan was an absolute hit.<br/><br/>The only thing we didn't have time for was dessert. Next thing to try cos I will definitely be back.
Michele Cicognani
Fancy decor with great service and prepare to wine and dine, lovely Thai menu lots to choose from, for all different pallets. I suggest that if you not a chilli person ask for less then mild. It is quite expensive but worth every penny.
Michelle Thompson
Enjoyed the food, good atmosphere, nice spacious table seating and good service! We have eaten at many other Thai places and it is normally a real taste adventure. Flavours here weren't as prominent as other Thai food we have eaten, perhaps it's been "westernized" for more main stream clients. But an all round very good experience!
Shariksha Udarajh
I enjoyed a delicious dinner for my birthday at this Wonderful restaurant with amazing service and food! Had the duck spring rolls and crispy duck as a main, chocolate moose is a must!
Gabriela Taryn Isaacs
I am obsessed with this place!!! The food is next-level spectacular. The flavours are vibrant and every bite is a taste of heaven. As for the cocktails we had (which were on a half-price special) they were exotic. Just be careful because they are generous with the alcohol , I'm certainly not complaining though. This place is a must to go to!

A great place if you are looking for Thai food.I haven't seen a synthetic Thai restaurant with so beautifully desisigned. The service is excellent..n food is on your table with no time. The only downfall I see is,the wAiter always looks at you making uncomfortable to eat.The food is ok,not excellent..but it's good
Carien Jakovljevic
Erawan has really really delicious dim sum and their chicken Phad Thai is also very nice. We always get the cream cheese and spinach dim sum, as well as the prawn dim sum, followed by Phad Thai (mild for me, medium for husband). Ask for some extra peanuts as they tend to be a bit stingy with the peanuts. Service has always been excellent.
Stefi
An amazing Thai restaurant. Modern and elegant decor. The food was excellent, I would definitely return. We had dim sum for starter, for mains we had the phad thai and crispy pork. All good.
Italian_Chick
I love the decor! Simple and elegant. Went with the kids for a quick Saturday lunch but feel this is definitely more an evening venue to enjoy with someone special or a group of close friends. Fresh sushi, great stir fries. We sat in the outside booths as it seemed more appropriate for daytime dining. Pricey but then again it's Bedfordview babe! Will be back for an evening experience with my Big Fat Italian
Leanne Van Breda
Such a lovely up-market Thai restaurant. The decor is beautiful and the food is authentically Thai. We love the Thai curries, steamed fish with stir fried veg. The noodles are also delicious.
Foodifancipants
We absolutely loved Erawan! The service from Stan was excellent and the portions are generous. The dim sum are delicate and packed with a punchy spice to them. Their crispy duck is next on our hit list!

Another Wishlist βœ”οΈ<br/><br/>This place has been on my Wishlist since it open! Had the pleasure of dining Erawan Bedfordview last night! <br/><br/>It's gorgeous. Absolutely instagrammable from all angles. They have variety on both the drinks and food menu. Being such a Thai cuisine fan, dinner options where tough here! Ended up having red duck curry- AMAZING with just enough heat and the pineapple fritter was just divine! <br/><br/>Worth the wait. I'd come here over and over! Great service too. <br/><br/>#TastyTuesday #TrySomethingNew #Erawan #LoveFood #AlwaysEating

Erawan has an amazing Thai style menu featuring all of Thailands favourite meals including duck, Phad Thai and dumplings. I would defs give it a try if are in the mood for all kinds of lovely Thai style flavours. Modern decor and the waitresses are all dressed in traditional Thai dress.
Jacqueline Koch
Good Thai restaurant. A bit on the pricey side. Menu is somewhat limited but flavours are definitely reminiscent of Thailand. Their Thai style spiciness is really very spicy. Fantastic wine menu - some really top class wines. They also suggest wine pairing with their menu which is a great touch. Service is really good, decor is modern and simple. Even though it's situated in a fairly busy centre, they have successfully cornered off the outdoor seating area to create a private and chic ambiance. They have great Mon-Fri half-price sushi special during lunch time which makes the sushi affordable and fantastically prepared with generous portions. Their half price cocktail special that runs 4-6 pm is also fantasic. Try and time it so that your'e there to coincide with the 2 specials.
Amanda Bauer
Loved it from the moment we walked in. The starters, mains and dessert were delicious. The staff was well mannered, friendly and helpful. The decor and ambience, perfect. I cannot wait to go back to try the cocktails and sushi the moment I can. My husband and I will definitely be back soon. My Only issue, i wanted to order everything on the menu :) I really hope to see more people at the restaurant, because i do not want it to close.

What promised to be an excellent dinner turned out to be very disappointing. Based on a number of very good reviews we decided to try out Erawan Bedfordview on Friday evening. We started with the fish cakes and although the taste was good the cakes were really hard and rubbery, not what we were expecting. We then moved on to to the duck pancakes and these were good, but we paired this with the chicken salad and glass noodles which was way too hot and the glass noodles got completely lost in it. To top off a really disappointing evening, we had a table opposite us with a 3yr (guestimate) boy who kept going till 22:30 as he entertained himself by tossing chopsticks around. This is not a restaurant you take your 3yr old to and so ended our evening.
Carla Gillespie
Went to Erawan last night for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised. The service were great. The food was just FANTASTIC. The chocolate moose dessert is a MUST!!!! Will definitely go back

My husband took me here for date night and I was not disappointed. It's romantic and elegant decor was very welcoming. As you sit down they give you deep fried chips which was delicious and crunchy. We decided to order two starters. I highly recommend the crispy wontons which are filled with chicken. We then had a chicken cashew stirfry and kho phad chicken. We ordered it mild and it still came quite spicy but that can be ignored when the food is so tasty. We wanted to try the banana fritters with ice cream but we were just too full. We will have to come back and try them! This is highly recommended if you are looking for a place with good service, warm and romantic ambiance and good food that can only enhance your mood.

Khao Soi Chiang Mai ordered Hot, perfectly balanced - one of the finest Thai dishes that I have had outside of Thailand and by far the best that I have had in South Africa. <br/><br/>Our table shared all of the spring rolls. They were all nice and noticeably freshly made, with the Duck being my favourite.<br/><br/>I also tasted the Phad Thai, which is always a good benchmark dish and it extremely good.<br/><br/>The service is fantastic and this restaurant has a very nice atmosphere.
Claire Wiggill
After reading some good reviews it was a good night for Thai food! The first part of the experience was the telephone booking and an authentic Thai person made the booking - that was great. The restaurant looks great and the service was on point. So to the food- it was good but for the price I expected wow! R124 for a prawn Phad Thai with only about 5 really small prawn in it! The dim sum were good with the prawn toast being the most impressive starter. The chocolate spring rolls just weren't great. Not sure we will head back any time soon but not sad we went.
Milan Parbhoo
Been here twice now. Very good Thai restaurant. Red curry was amazing. Very friendly staff. Great decor and atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for a premium Thai restaurant. Will definitely be back.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem while frantically searching for food on New Years Eve. It turned out to be a magical experience. We ordered a Penang Curry and Pad Thai Noodles, respectively, which was impeccably prepared. The food is very hard to fault. The setting was ambrosial and authentic, however, we recommend that the restaurant's choice of music change from mainstream pop, to something from Thailand, to amplify the complete Thai experience. I believe, quite emphatically that I have a new favourite Thai restaurant.

Walking into this restaurant one feels relaxed by the modern meets zen dΓ©cor. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is incredible. Truly the best meal I've had in a long time. My only criticism is that it would have been nice to hear traditional Thai music playing in the background instead of Taylor Swift.

I have been to Erawan in Riverside shopping centre. It has to be one of my favorites, which is why I went to this outlet. <br/><br/>While the service is quick, and the decor stunning, my preference is still for the riverside outlet. <br/><br/>1. The wasabi was not fresh. It was hard and discoloured. I had to ask for a fresh lot, which I received. I don't see how the sushi chefs could think that the first lot was acceptable. <br/>2. The sushi was half the size. Just look at the pics. I definitely felt like we had been robbed. <br/>3. While the curry was good, it was not as good as the other outlet. <br/><br/>Hopefully they will up their game. <br/><br/>Follow www.senorasvista.com for my articles on food and travel. Soon to come, my top 10 restaurants in Jozi for 2015.

Amazing decor.. Great service . Beautiful ambiance .. The dim sum was good. The green curry could've been better - lacking pak choi and a bit more spices ... The curry was average but everything else was good .

Fusion Thai and Chinese restaurant, quiet comfy. There food is on standard but pricy been there twice their staff aren't too friendly either impatient or they like chasing you away while you finished your food, oppressed sitting there any longer during weekends.

Great food. Kui-Chay prawn dumplings were awesome. I don't recommend having chicken dumplings as they are usually dry anywhere you try them. I had a super tasty and crispy (like crackling) sweet and sour pork. Peking duck was also good and served with enough pancakes. Try the steelworks it come in a huge fancy glass like a cocktail. The Bedfordview Branch quality of food tastes better than Bryanston in my opinion.

After hearing so much about this restaurant we couldn't wait to try it out and we were not disappointed. We started off with their dim sum which were generously filled with a tasty beef filling. We then had some of their sushi and opted for the prawn and salmon California rolls and the wasabi parcel - both off the chefs special menu. Both were fantastic! We'll definitely be back. Be sure to take advantage of their weekday 50% sushi lunch special.

After reading the great reviews about this restaurant we decided we had to try it.<br/><br/>It lived up to every one of them, the service was friendly and efficient, and the food... let's just say that I have a new favourite for Thai food.<br/><br/>The prawn toast, satay ghai, springrolls were all winners, followed by the cashew prawn and phad thai to top off the winning streak.<br/><br/>We will most definitely be back for more!!

I visit Erawan quite often for their unusual dim sum and their Thai salads. Unfortunately, they do not have a green papaya salad on the menu *tear runs down face* , but they do have a carrot based one that is reminiscent of the papaya version so that makes me happy.Β <br/>Their service could be better. It is often very VERY slow and dull, and for the price you're paying I would expect it to be superior. I find that the service at Simply Asia (Eastgate) is WAY better, and that's considered a fast-casual restaurant - bordering on take-away!<br/>Nevertheless, I still go back...their dim sum hold a special place in my heart.

Unfortunately, this Thai restaurant does not live up to the hype and it's offering does not justify the high prices. I had the crispy duck, which, while it did taste nice, certainly didn't warrant the hefty price tag of almost R200. Moreover, the carrot salad (a mockup@ of the more traditional green papaya salad) left much to be desired. The best part about the restaurant is the Singha beer.

Really good Thai Food. At first I was sceptical because the Erawan in Bryanston did not exactly get rave reviews. We were observing one of our religious days and so I had to have a vegetarian dish. I had noodles with tofu and it was rather yummy! I followed this with a dessert of Fried Bannanas and ice cream (figured I deserved it after 3 long weeks of no meat)... and it was soooo tasty! Would have gladly eaten the whole lot except that it's a very generous size and well. .. not exactly what you would order if you are on a "Eat Healthy" regime! Will definitely go back!

Definitely my favourite Thai Restaurant in Gauteng. Lovely modern decor . Excellent food and definitely the best Peking duck. The waiters are all very friendly and service was great. Highly recommended

I have never been this excited to eat out. <br/>I've been craving authentic Thai food for the longest time. <br/>Off we trekked to this gem, and what a gem it is. I know that there is one in Bryanston, but I've been told that if you want to do Erawan right, go to the Bedfordview branch. <br/>I was not disappointed, from the greeting at the front door, to the immaculately dressed staff and the most gorgeous setting, they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. <br/><br/>We ordered loads of dim sum to start, amazing Tom Yum soup, spring rolls and prawn toast! <br/>Mains, of course, was crispy duck pancakes, and dessert was the most gorgeously decadent coconut rice pudding topped with juicy litchis and a thick sugar syrup. <br/><br/>Green tea was had, and we sat talking in awe of the food, service and ambience. <br/><br/>It's hard to find a really good restaurant these days, one that is able to blow you away, on all levels. Erawan has stolen my heart and I will make the drive out to Bedfordview much more frequently.
Date Night
What an incredible restaurant! We have gone to Erawan twice and both times have been amazing. We had their spring rolls and some sushi for starters and then cashew nut stir fry with beef and Thai green curry with chicken was were both delicious for main. Best spring rolls I have ever had! We then went back for sushi which was amazing - definitely worth the price and even better to try it for a half price week day lunch - such a bargain! The decor is amazing and staff are brilliant. Such a beautiful place for a romantic night out with your partner - we will definitely be going back.

This lovely place has such grace. The interior decor is absolutely beautiful and the service is done in style. Everything screams simplicity and perfection. I have been here a number of times and the food is exquisite every time.

It was a long Saturday day with many challenges and tribulations and neither P and I felt like hanging around the stove so we decided that we would go out for dinner. Being the food freak the choice of restaurant was left up to me, so choices were Indian (which P felt like) or Italian ( which I felt like). So we had to relook at our choices.. I cMe up with Greek or Thai and both settled for Thai. Then which Thai restaurant should we go to.. I wanted to try Erawan for a while so how about tonight.. <br/>It's so refreshing to see a restaurant that goes out of way to make one feel welcome. Their hospitality is one that supersedes many, friendly staff and everything in the restaurant is meticulous. <br/>We wanted to try something different so we decided on dim sum. Now this was nice and refreshing, I chose a spicy chicken while P chose a milder pork variety. I didn't feel like anything heavy so a healthy sea food salad was ordered. You could taste every ingredient, fresh and just what the doctor ordered. The omami (spl? ?) Balance between sweet and sour was just right... not too sweet and not to sour..just right.. the calamari and prawns were fresh. <br/>P ordered a crispy duck salad. I tried the crispy duck elsewhere and was always dissapointed but here it was really tasty, not too much fat.. crispy and wonderfully tasty. <br/>Dessert was next on the list, I didn't want any but P couldn't resist the taste of chocolate mouse.. alas we shared a dessert.. wonderfully rich velvety chocolate that you want to dive in and get your other half to hold your feet.. it was sumptuous. <br/><br/>Now the ambiance inside is really relaxing and tasteful. Richly decorated that you feel like you in a different world. Hey I even took a picture of the toilet .. it was that beautiful.. I never ever looked so forward to my trip.. to the toilet lol<br/><br/>So if you want to take your special someone to a memorable place that is wonderfully romantic and you want to taste the flavors of Thailand .. try this place, you won't be sorry <br/><br/>Hint: if you have a choice of being inside or outside, go inside. . Especially on date night

Great service, classy furnishings and delicious meals. The food came out so fast I have never had such prompt service in my life. My stir fry noodles and veg were delicious, the sushi literally melted in our mouths, and the chocolate spring rolls get my vote any day!! Highly recommended!

I love this place! I've been here many times and I've tried most of their dishes! The menu is very extensive so there is something for everyone! I love especially love their dim sum, black bean noodles, Thai green curry, pecking duck, and Penang curry! Everything is very authentic and the Resturant is very clean! :)

Good food not great.. Great atmosphere and restaurant layout. Missed the sambals worth the Phad Thai. More drinks would have been sold if waitrons had checked more often, other than that service was good. Very good wine list. Highly recommended the dark chocolate spring rolls πŸ˜†

Absolutely splendid. I went their with my wife and 8 year old to.celebrate my wedding anniversary. Lots to.choose on the menu and based on Zomato peer reviews<br/>.i also tried the mussel.soup to start..it was EXCELLENT!. We also had the crispy duck pancakes and crispy basil pork for mains which.were also very good. The wine list.was nicely.presented with some reasonably priced wines. Service was brilliant and had a really fantastic time. Dont.forget to leave space for the chocolate mousse..it has to be THE best mousse i have ever had. Well done Erawan!

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Erawan and it was a great choice. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I definitely recommend the 'Crispy Duck' and 'Wontons'

Been here twice and the food has never disappointed. The sushi is fabulous and the duck perfect! Service and atmosphere is lovely. Easily the best restaurant in bedfordview at the moment. Can't wait to go back and try all the other scrumptious dishes! A must try for those who haven't been.

Anniversary Dinner - Year 6<br/><br/>A beautiful restaurant, stunning Asian theme, private and romantic booths and not to forget absolutely delicious authentic food!<br/><br/>The prawn roof is the perfect and ultimate combination of sushi deliciousness! Salmon California rolls with deep fried prawns on top!! Wow! The wasabi parcels were amazing and packed a fair firey punch!<br/><br/>Definitely going back! So much more I still want to try!

In our quest to try new places we ventured here after reading favourable reviews and weren't disappointed. Elegant interior with very pleasant, friendly staff. Efficient service, attractive presentation and generous portions. Our food was tasty although one of the dishes was a bit heavy on the chili despite being requested as 'mild'. Will be visiting again to try out some of the dishes we didn't get around to tonight.<br/><br/>Just an update ... we did go back again and once again were just blown away by the warm welcome received and the excellent service. This time we ordered a variety of starters - mainly dim sum - instead of mains, and all were absolutely delicious!! Have upped my rating and can't recommend this place highly enough!!

Was with large party last night<br/>Apart from noodles (maggie noodles soaked in hot water, the base if a chef's dream and not capitalised on) food was good.<br/>Service needs attention- was there a labour dispute? Was there insufficient training? Effect was passive service in an otherwise attractive upmarket restuarant. <br/>We go out to eat- bring the menus, bring the food, bring the drinks, and if you cannot be pleasant please be quick!!!<br/>@gill longano<br/>

This Thai place has become one of my fav, the food is amazing, prawn blanket is amazing and so it the crispy pork and duck, the service is very good and as a complimentary starter they give u prawn chips with really really good dipping sauce.

Very great service and delicious meals! The waitresses dressed in the authentic clothing made the experience better. I had the sweet and sour crispy duck, was delicious and super crispy. The accompaniments are fresh and well prepared

The Salad Pak Crispy Duck was as expected, crispy and fresh. The sweet and sour Crispy Pork was good, but I have had better. The best part of my meal was the Tom Kha Hoy (Mussel Soup). <br/>Overall an excellent sophisticated restaurant with a warm ambience and very attentive service.

Really beautiful elegant restaurant. We went there with friends of ours that also enjoyed the whole experience. Service was excellent. We all really enjoyed our food. Unfortunately portion size didn't justify the price they were charging. If you want a nice romantic restaurant for date night, then that's your place.

Been here twice in the last three weeks due to its close proximity. First time the food was excellent and would have rated it a 4. The peeking duck was crisp and tasty, the pork tender and delicious while the varied starters and curries all well done. The second time was a big disappointment. The fish was over cooked and rubbery, the dumplings were also over cooked and they managed to bring us the wrong soup dish. A very mixed experience<br/>

We decided to eat locally tonight as most eateries in Bedfordview are below average! So I checked the reviews for Erawan Thai restaurant and decided lets dine there tonight. What a disappointment . We arrived to a half empty restaurant and was told its full we I asked about the outside dining area oh yes you can sit there! We had 4 people serve us ! The best first and the worst last . We decided we wanted a starter night and to share all the starters. The sushi is average the starters lack flavor . The worst dish by far was the prawn tempura , that is not tempura but rather raw prawns in oily batter that was under cooked . After that we left hungry. Again bedforview disappoints .@ food
