Placed an order on Ubereats- the food arrived quickly and the food was incredible I had the 3 different salads- green veg, spicy corn and grain salad- one of the best lunches i have had in a long time! Cant wait to order my next lunch meal! Thank you!
Oh man, I love this place. The food is simply delicious and so healthy. I love that you can create you own meal and the prices are so purse-friendly.
It is one of a few places in Jhb where you can sit on the sidewalk and watch the world go by while you enjoy your food.
Very nice and cozy place, helpful staff and high quality food.
Love the healthy fruit, yoghurt, honey and muesli! The fruit was fresh and it was a great variety! Well-done!
Fresh, delicious & healthy. Great place to have lunch... everyday
Fantastic fabulous food with a great selection of fresh salads . Love Hamburger Friday . Definitely a MUST VISIT.
Great selection of salads and really good coffee. Definitely coming back.
Lots of Banting friendly meals too for anyone following Tim Noakes Real Meal Revolution.
Unbelievable!!! And AMAzing!!!
Best food in joburg.
Awesome wholesome fresh food... Delicious too!
What a sweet little place in front of 2 Jan Smuts!
It feels like a real city eatery with the right mix of space, quaint furniture and table placed with fresh selection of the day's prized dishes.
Everything is made fresh for the daily consumption, and my taste buds dance with joy. We shared a slice of lemon tart, the best I have ever had. Just the right viscosity in its creamy melt in your mouth topping with just the right amount of lemony tang, wrapped in the perfectly baked crust!
It also sells a variety of coffee and tea.
Need I say more?
I recently stopped by for a quick meal and I decided on the the bacon stack. People were very friendly and the restaurant had a lovely vibe, I was pleasantly surprised by the meal, it was delicious. The relish was exceptionally tasty and made the meal better than the average breakfast stack. Only issue was the kitchen got my order slightly wrong but in the end it was still a nice experience.
Amazing chill spot to grab breakfast or your well deserved lunch break. Fresh, down to earth type cooking and you can always treat yourself with their amazing goodies and coffee.
Peak of the visit: yummy burger and intimate area to have lunch
Pit of the visit : it gets busy and cramped during lunch hour
I went to Love Food before they closed! I hope they come back... they served really great food and it was fresh and tasty!! I'm hoping they'll open another branch somewhere
Wow what a quaint coffee shop 😊loved the feel of this place .... food was delicious ordered the health stack scrambled eggs rye bread with pesto and an Americano ... loved the detail of decor rustic with a modern feel ... greeted by friendly staff ... and the place was semi full yet service was on point ... my new CBD spot for breakfast ...location was terrific with the liberty guards on the road side so it's safe as well ... a must try 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Wonderful people, every engagement with the staff has been positive.
The food is fresh with a wholesome and homely feel. Location parking was a challenge. We would still be back
This quaint Coffee Shop, is located near Liberty on Jan Smuts and offers a Harvest Table for Lunch.
Today they were serving burgers (available in beef, chicken or vegetarian) which were incredibly fresh served with a pesto Mayo dressing and side salads.
Definitely recommend this place for grabbing a quick lunch bite
Had a breakfast takeaway from Love Food. The bacon stack was amazing and the ciabatta bread to die for. I will definitely be returning and recommending to others.
Even though Love Food’s menu is rather limited, the freshness of the food, and the friendly service make up for it.
I had two fish, half a plate of pasta and a hazelnut latte (without coffee, just milk, curiously) and enjoyed my meal very much.
However, since it does not have halal options, it’s not a place I’ll visit very often, otherwise I’ll keep eating the same thing over and over again.
I came here for lunch which is very conveniently located across the street from the Liberty headquarters. I had the fish cakes which were very yummy and two of the salads. I'm not a fan of raw onions (terrible to eat and then meet with coworkers) and there were onions in all the dishes so that I wasn't so hot about. But I did enjoy the atmosphere and would come back and order something different next time. The roasted chicken looked great and was clearly the popular dish at the buffet table. Service was friendly and efficient.
Very cool little cafe in a convenient location. Came for burger Friday and had a chicken burger. It was good, with a variety of sauces and toppings. The food is very reasonably priced and I'll definitely be going back.
Perfect for a quick in and out lunch. Love the concept of the buffet with a home cooked meal feel - very flavorsome, healthy and fresh but also limited in terms of options; their menu changes daily.
It's quite a friendly, relaxed environment.
I wish they served better options in terms of beverages i.e freshly squeezed juices or smoothies.
Definitely a breath of fresh air in the city.
I work just down the road from Love food so needless to say I frequent this establishment as often as possible. Owner Jamie and her friendly staff always impress. Their salad inventions are superb, and every Friday is Burger day (meat or veg). Their billing system is pretty straight fwd: protein is one price per portion, and salads etc another. I've lost count how many of her delicious lemon tarts I have taken back to the office for tea time!
Wow what a little gem. Love food in Braamfontein. Friendly staff, tasty food and good vibe. Pick cooked food from the buffet, sit down and eat. Easy and quick.
Definately the place to go anytime you are near Wits university. Easy cross over the street from east campus or PDH. Wonderful breakfast and great buffet lunch
What a great find! Went there for Friday lunch and loved it! We had the veggie and beef burgers with wedges. The don't make sandwiches on Fridays. Great flavours and very fresh food! Go early! They were sold out of chicken burgers. Definitely going back there to try the rest of the menu!
YUM! A great range of lunch dishes available as buffet, including salmon cakes n lots of veggies and salads on the day I was there. Friendly service and great drinks menu. Lots of ambience and character. I heard the queue goes out the door n up the road sometimes so make sure you get there early.
I love this place! The decor, the fresh food, the people :) They offer a lovely harvest style table for lunch, be sure to go early to catch the best variety of dishes. I also recommend their chai tea, made from an actual tea bag as opposed to the powder mix most places use. There is a lunch rush so don't be surprised if you turn up late and don't get a table.
There's few places that get the simplicity of design right and even fewer that carry the nostalgic feel of the classic foodie experience. Wooden decor, chalkboard writing and friendly people to talk to. What a gem to find in Braamfontein. Oh did I mention the food is awesome too hahaha
Absolutely love the food and the environment there staff are super friendly and the setting is classic and elegant. Meals of the day are also quite affordable. Five stars for this joint on any day.
I place to be. I love the fact that the menu is not the same every day. Love the Friday burger or surprise to the menu. The uniqueness of the menu and the friendly staff just make this place stands out in Braamfontein.
I love the unique quirkiness that is Love Food. It's eclectic decor has a very lived in, thrift store, garage sale feel and it's awesome. Would definitely recommend for those who like something a little different and aren't too fussy, especially when you might have a share a table with strangers.
PROs
- Good food. Man oh man is the food yummy. The menu changes daily but what's best is that you can find the menu updated daily on their website. Don't be frightened of the buffet style feel, they do it right!
- Everyone is so friendly. I always feel like I'm at a friend's house rather than at a restaurant
- They sell Paul's Ice Cream! Hallelujah! Enough said!
CONs
- Space is scarce. Yes it's part of their charm but at the same time you can't be coming as a large bunch of friends at their busy lunch time because you might not find space to sit
- Since the menu is different every day, there's not a wide selection
Visited this quaint restaurant today for the first time in over a year with a friend I hadn't seen in almost as long.
The atmosphere was just as I remembered it, intimate but still modern.
The vinyls played are great choice as the music was easy on the ear.
What a great choice for a lovely girls day in.
I ordered hot chocolate and lemon tart while my friend had a latte accompanied by the cake of the day, which in this case was carrot cake.
The hot chocolate was a lovely example of a warm chocolatey drink which wasn't overwhelmingly sweet but didn't require copious amounts of sugar to be sweet.
My friend's latte tasted as good as it looked, quite a feat.
Of course the real winners of the day were the carrot cake and lemon tart.
The cake was moist but still held its shape well. The icing was delicious and the nuts used complimented and don't overwhelm the cake. Such a fresh and tasty cake. Thumbs up from both my friend and I.
The lemon tart however stole the show. It achieved the perfect balance between the authentic crisp, lemon taste and the sweetness required for the tart.
The base was the perfect consistency, and didn't crumble at first bite. Just lovely.
The consistency, taste and overall appearance was hard to fault.
A special mention to the great service, the owner went out to her way to accommodate us as we arrived after the serving time for lunch. She was still willing to whip something up for us, for that reason alone we'll be back for the scrumptious sounding lunch.
Had they Friday burger special. The beef burger was a amazing. Unfortunately the honeymustard sauce was over powering. Service was great! Will definitely return
Breakfast in bustling Brafontein has never been so good. Anyone who knows me knows I love food and, as the name implies, so do the enchanting staff at this space, Love Food. The decor is minimalistic and the food delivers maximum flavour. I had the French Toast and am generally very critical if it is not good as I make a mean French Toast myself as it is one of my two favourite foods. This sweet breakfast counterpointed by a great bitter coffee was magi al.
Like Schwazenegger I will be back.
If you're looking for home-cooked food but don't have the time or energy to actually be at home and cook then odds are that you will love Love Food. With their ever-changing menu and exciting range of healthy affordable options, this hipster hotspot is a refreshing little haven in the heart of Braam. The staff are friendly, approachable, and genuinely helpful, and the atmosphere is welcoming and laid back. Their lunchtime specials are a firm favorite among seasoned Braamfontein lunchgoers, so if you're heading there for their lunch spread then don't go too late. Their breakfasts are also fantastic, and the bacon stack is a must.
I'm a big fan of these different and totally unique spots that are bold enough for happening places like Braamfontein. They've got a really unique offering and differentiate themselves from the typical northern suburbs pavement cafe.
Food is usually organic or at least really fresh. Dishes are well crafted and delicious. Although a teeny bit pricey it's worth it.
Service is good and they genuinely care about your feedback. Big up and keep it up!
PS: Banting options would get me in there more often
My absolute favourite spot to go to on a Friday morning for a yummy filling breakfast and a cup of coffee! I love the location which is just on the outskirt of Braam, meaning less fuss of the city and more time to enjoy your meal. Can't help but always find myself going back to try something new and the menu never disappoints in terms of flavour. You'll find traditional breakfast meals with a lovely spin that leaves you fully satisfied.
Really cosy place for a good start of the day or just a little catch-up with a friend, or just a reflection on life. It would be great if they did late lunches or even early supper.
Everything was absolutely perfect. This was maybe the best breakfast I've had in a very long time. The egg, bacon and cheese brought together by the relish was the most delicious breakfast dish. Definitely my new favourite restaurant in Braamfontein.
It's simply called "Love Food" because that's exactly how you feel when you are there. They serve lunch as buffet style so you can pick your options from the day's menu! Feels like a get together really but just with strangers. You'll definitely "Love Food" here ☺️😋❤️
Love Food has a lovely warm vibe that invites everyone for a lovely fresh, affordable and delicious meal! Even their cakes and delicious brownies are amazing!
Great vibe, awesome fresh food and always expect to bump into the arty crowd. Fresh table food sells out during lunch - Not Cool! Overall great lunch spot.
Every time we visit one of our customers around Braamfontein. This is our place to have a good cappuccino and burger. Nice and simple place with good food. Wish they were also operating on weekends.
Greeeat vibe!! So homely too.
Greatest thing, it's just a walk from wits university!
Granted, we didnt eat the food (although, I did have my eye and stomach on the entire spread during lunch time) we went for a 'pick me up' tub of pauls ice cream and coffee. Which certainly did it's job.
Can't wait to drag my friends back to this #hiddenGem for lunch sometime soon. 🎉
Love all the food they serve! Jamie is incredible at what she does and I am all about her beef mince wraps YUM! Friendly staff, great atmosphere and good food...what more could you ask for?!
Favorite lunch spot! Great place for a quick and delicious plate of fresh and flavorful food. The lunch rush is hectic though so best to get there early. Forever yum!
I work at Wits and funny enough good, wholesome food on campus is extremely limited and very expensive which is why Love Food is the perfect little oasis in a desert of greasy student food!
Everything I've ever eaten here has been nothing but delicious, I even tried (and LOVED) the vegetarian burger, which is really saying a lot for a carnivore like myself.
The staff are so friendly, the service is great and everyone who works/lives in Braamfontein truly ought to try it
This little cafe serves consistently delicious food. There is no menu - the food is served buffet style, with healthy veg and salad options alongside protein choices. Just really wholesome and satisfying. They also have a lovely selection of unusual teas. The service is good, friendly and fast. A great place for business meetings.
This a super little restaurant in Jozi. What I enjoy about love food cafe is that the menu changes constantly, its got a home-made feel to it and the prices are very reasonable. Go girls and go team we need more places like this! Thank you.
Simply the best! That's all I can say for now as I enjoy their meal of the day
Quaint and homey, feels like I stepped off of long street into this little place and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Food is super tasty and healthy. Definitely get your money's worth. Also great music!
Jamie is really welcoming, (love the smile), best cuppoccino ever!!! Haven't had a chance to really sit in, but it's the one place I look forward to whenever I'm in the area!!!
Great food. Great people. Even better coffee. Best place to have a business meeting
Honestly, the best place to grab a great bite in Braamfontein. I mostly look forward to the Burger Fridays and I always get the beef patty/blue cheese/gherkins/burger sauce combination.
Jamie, the owner, is incredibly sweet and friendly. She's really in control of her situation and takes time to float around the Cafe, chat with customers and make sure everything is okay.
The food is freshly made everyday in the Kitchen. It's well presented and tastes as colorful as it looks. The lunch menu changes everyday which is fun (check Twitter for daily menu) and vegetarian options are available.
There are also yummy dessert offerings often baked/made by the talented Bonnie. I don't use the word "yummy" very lightly either.
Not hungry? LoveFood Cafe stocks a great range of Teapigs tea (pictured: Chamomile), which I highly recommend.
Very well priced for the quality of food. Fun atmosphere. Sometimes it gets super busy but when it's not, there are lots of little inedible trinkets and books to discover.
What can I say? There is nothing better to start the day than a Cappucino and Breakfast Stack served up hot and fresh by Jamie with her welcoming smile. I often find myself in Braamfontein in the early mornings and my day always goes better when I've started it at Love Food. It's like eating at home and tastes even better! Cannot recommend highly enough!
Love Food Kitchen is an absolute little gem...warm, homely and welcoming and the food is healthy and delicious :-)
Warm welcoming introduction at this little gem, perfect cappuccino with a fresh rusk to get my morning started. Shortly after ordering, my breakfast arrives, a delicious mouthwatering "bacon stack" that consists of spicy relish, delicious crispy bacon, grated cheddar cheese and a perfectly fried egg on a freshly toasted ciabatta slice! Absolutely to die for!!! Thumbs up to them! Keep up the good work.
Love Food is a wonderful owner managed cafe. The food is healthy fresh and tasty. Portions are fair and very well priced. Love Food supports a micro-roastry, and the coffee is incredible - a real treat.
I'm not a fan for chain-food stores with one exception (Spur). I always try to find a place where not only is there home-style cooking but with some "antiquerisque" atmosphere. And Love Food has that.
The food is exceptional. At 1st you would think that the price is steep for the ration but I tell you that its reasonably priced for the quality of food served. Had the yoghurt chicken today and there was a disco party in my mouth. Amazing food. And its great for those who want to watch what they eat. One think that will, actually is making me want to comeback, is the Choc Brownie4. Lord have mercy. THE. BEST. EVER!!!
I'm not a food critic, just a guy who likes great cooking and Love Food offers that. Worth every cent
Awesome ambience! It is a very "Instagram place", just fresh, cozy and very elegant at the same time. It is a very "hommie" place! They take care of every single detail, they put love in what they do, you can tell it right away.
Lovely service also, big smiles and fast people, love that!
They have a great buffet everyday, good variety of food and good quality, which is more important to me! Great Salad Bar and average prices, very nice option.
♥ ♥ ♥
Love love love, love food! Feels like home! Wonderful food, and a superb spot.
Absolutely wonderful, wholesome food served in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Jamie knows what her customers want and gives it to them. The food really is great, always a good variety to choose from, all making up a really healthy breakfast or lunch.
Have never been disappointed there and will definitely be returning!
A cosy little shop with a warm and inviting atmosphere
This small cosy little semi-boutique cafe, subtly place in the heart of Johannesburg, student center! with its flamboyant feel, and friendly waiter and waitresses. they boast a generally healthy menu, with sweet after taste with their desserts, leaving ones tastes buds and stomach stuffed, tantalized and satisfied. They break away from their usual routine of making burger Fridays... sultry mouth watering, soft, juicy patties with a choice of topping: lettuce, gherkin, onion rings, red onion, cheddar cheese , blue cheese, burger sauce, mustard and chili sauce..... its a break but not so far off from its usual healthy variety..
Remarkably the menu changes daily so you never really know what you are in for.. but evidently it is always worth the surprise. all the desserts are made in house and not out-sourced, so you know that added that secret ingredient that has got their growing client base constantly coming back, that ingredient is LOVE.
the best FOOD, made with skill, dedication, time, delicacy and design... Giving you LOVE FOOD
Fresh, comforting meal at a great price!
Love Food Cafe is an owner run buffet style Ottolenghi inspired cuisine, in the heart of Braamfontein. The interior is Parisian rustic, and slightly romantic with wood tables including one being sharing table. There are also a few tables outside that allow for al fresco dining. The atmosphere's relaxed and friendly largely attributed to the owner Jamie, who is always there to greet her guests with a smile.
The food is fresh, sustainable and most of all tasty. I have had the roast butternut and beetroot salad with feta, fresh raw broccoli salad and a mango spinach salad with a tangy dressing, along with a piece of tender spiced chicken. The salads are always fresh, well dressed and balanced, definitely a must for vegetable lovers.
I would highly recommend heading over to Love Food for lunch during because you get a great meal at a exceptionally reasonable price point. Three salads, a protein and a drink for just about R50, this is a great deal for the student heavy Braamfontein.

Amazing place! Great food and service!!
Very quaint little place. Had the bacon stack and it was awesome. The ciabatta bread was as fresh as can be.
The lunch buffet here is always fresh, delicious and the prices are great which is why it gets sold out quite often. Good, super strong, fresh coffee, friendly service and a busy vibe with many young professionals. The decor is quaint. Great wooden tables and tasteful art. I like the clean minimalist look. The location is very convenient. Definitely coming back.
The food is sooo good, wholesome and healthy.
Lovely little shop tucked away in the city. The service was lovely and personal. They let us rearrange their shop for our big group. Their hazelnut latte was the best I've ever had and the breakfast was to die for. Would definitely recommend for a delicious breakfast meal.
Bakgat! Food was very good and service 👍🏻
Food is delicious but be prepared to pay. It's a bit expensive, unless you don't mind paying R10 for one rusk.
The atmosphere is great.
The food is fresh and the menu is always different, except the burger Fridays.
Great place for a quick sit for a lunch or coffee with some friends or colleagues.
Went for an early lunch at Love Food and the harvest table was really great. I have quite a few dietary restrictions and I was still able to get a complete and filling meal from the options they had available. I had three healthy and wholesome salads and their delicious chicken dish. Was impressed with the food and also enjoyed the rustic decor. I saw they also had a small bakery of sorts in the back and a barista, although I did not take advantage of that. Was only about R69 for my food. Very quick as everything is ready made. Great option for a healthy meal if you’re short on time.
Always a great vibe, food is very ‘homey’, where a set meal has been prepared for the day. So not the place to go if you want to order from a menu.
The coffee is always great.
But be prepared to pay more than you would for a similar experience elsewhere.

Honestly one of my favourite spots in Johannesburg delightful little cafe right on the street with incredible value for money. Staff are incredibly helpful and well-versed on the menu offerings you have the option to choose from a set menu and or from a bespoke buffet be sure to visit this hidden gem
