Review Gravity Cafe - Johannesburg

Loved it!!! Would go again. The service was fast, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and certainly fresh with a unique twist. Best part is the serve breakfast the whole day :) There juices are freshly pressed. Outside and inside seating available.

A great experience overall. Kyle is a gentleman and made sure we were welcome and had some lovely conversation. It was loadshedding which is unfortunate so no chips or chicken and waffles but man... did they still deliver. The Cubana and Moz Pesto Ham were large in portion , super cheezy and all round just bloody damn good. Kyle went out of his way to get us some vodka accross the street having depleted anl make sure they could deliver on their menu. It really was not necessary but well received. I will bring my friends and family here to support Byron's. Liden gets an average rap but 4th street is lively and fulle of energy, good eating and spright experience. What I say is get out, get in and have a great time out in this old school neighbourhood.

We didn't eat here, only had a cappuccino each. We felt that there was nothing to the lace but then we read the menu with their story and felt there was something to connect to. To have the staff be much more involved and effective I feel the managerial group should involve them maybe a little more about the story.

One of the best coffee spots in Johannesburg. Great coffee, lovely food, relaxing ambience, excellent service and loadshedding free!

1st visit to Gravity Cafe, lovely hidden gem in Linden. Friendly waitress. Delicious fresh food. Enjoyed the Chicken Camembert on sour dough bread. Well priced. Will most certainly return.

Had a lovely farewell breakfast for a friend, out on the deck beneath the tree. When I booked, I'd told Kyle, the owner, that it was for us to say goodbye to a friend, and when we arrived, there was a Lindt chocolate on every side plate...a thoughtful touch! The food was delicious and well priced, with good service, and good atmosphere.

Great service, we had the Cuban sandwich and waffle and what.. amazing!!! Would also recommend the Karoo lemonade.

A great, quiet and cosy place to relax and have a great meal!

The staff and owner are very friendly. The vibe is chilled and the good was delicious.

I would like to give Gravity a 3 starts , the reason I raised it to 4 is because free wifi and the fantastic friendly staff and quick service. Unfortunately the quality of ingredients in the almond milk double cappuccino is avarage. The green Smoothy was also very fantastic. I later on ordered a single shot cappuccino, I'd give this coffee a 2 stars. The tables need a very good scrub as I find them very sticky. The bathroom is very clean. I ordered the omelet with salmon and found the food very very oily or buttery not sure what they used to cook this dish. Also the quality of cheese was very avarage and too much of it in my omelet. Overall it's a great location, a comfortable setting and good service I'd advice a good clean of the restaurant and the food for me was not the best in Johannesburg but edable. I would visit again for the vibe and the heathy juices but the coffee needs a little tweaking perhaps. Thank you Gravity for a good morning and a friendly comfortable atmosphere that made it enjoyable to spend my time here.

Quaint little cafe with excellent cofee, breakfast and light meals. The owner of the cafe is around most of the time and greets you with a friendly demeanor. Generally everything on the menu is very reasonably priced.

Nice relaxed vibe. Good for a slow Sunday breakfast.

Quick pop-in before an appointment. So calm and relaxing. Great service and coffee and food. Unusual eatery, this. I wanted to rate the business more highly as the location (for me easy to get to and tucked away from major traffic) and ambience are good. However, prices are only average to high (expensive freshly squeezed juices for example). Overall I was left feeling that the business feels it can charge as it does, simply by providing generous portions. Don't get me wrong, I love my food and can fully appreciate what was provided on my plate! Though not a large range of menu items, all was freshly prepared and majorly simple. Service was attentive.

I experienced friendly service and a good, tasty breakfast. Choose a table inside or outside and enjoy the atmosphere

Wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. Menu is small and diverse, there's something for any mood and taste. Super relaxed and enjoyable ✨

Great neighbourhood cafe to grab a coffee, have some breakfast or even lunch. If you love to use straws but want to be Eco-wise as well, Gravity cafe offers glass straws to use with your beverage. Overall warm ambience and cosy place to hang.

10/10 Cafe. Service is exceptional and the pricing of the food is great. The food is fresh and delicious
Aletta Rochat
There are many places to have breakfast, but very few that have that very personal welcome. The food was superb, the setting inviting and the staff professional and friendly. The owner Kyle, adds a personal touch that makes the visit memorable. Highly recommended.

Amy De Breyn
We were introduced to Gravity Cafe by my new boss who invited me here for my interview. Since then we came back for their food. Because the coffee is great.

It's no secret we're a sucker for an outdoor venue with a great vibe. Add stunning food into the mix and BAM! New favourite haunt.

Their burgers are generous, juicy, tasty and so very more-ish. Their breakfasts look delish, and their prices are very reasonable.

Definitely worth supporting this little independant to keep them in business :D

We had a very disappointing experience at Gravity, everything tasted very bland and they were out of sourdough bread and chips. My mother-in-law had a toasted sandwich, which was burnt. Very over priced for what you get. Would not recommend.
Owen Tennant
Somehow typical relaxed 😌 ‘antique feel ‘ , a very Linden feel , must go again to try again , had a breakfast with fantastic homemade marmalade, friendly and I recommend 😀 a visit

Went here recently for brunch and was definitely not disappointed! The cafe has a really nice atmosphere and is very welcoming and well decorated. You have the option of sitting inside completely, or in the shade outside. Gravity has quirky artworks all around and also recommends its juices which are made by them and are exceptionally popular. The menu has a wide variety to display, and each portion of food is just right in terms of quantity and perfect in terms of quality. Both the manager and waiters/waitresses are super friendly and interactive, very attentive and accommodating. Food was delicious, well presented, excellently made and just the perfect portion. Definitely value for money- I would highly recommend Gravity for a breakfast or brunch, and I definitely will be back for lunch sometime soon!

I had the banting egg muffins and a strawberry smoothie as well as their almond latte. All of it was polished, and super tasty!

What a great hidden gem!

I found this place on Zomato and gave it a try with some friends for breakfast. It's a quaint, cozy little joint with wonderful, friendly staff.

Their coffees and hot chocolates are delicious as is their food. Perfect place to have a relaxed breakfast/lunch.

I love the warm and positive vibe at this place.
Richard Warren-Tangney
Great service, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic food made for a really pleasant and enjoyable quick lunch.

Denis Warren-Tangney had the bacon, mozzarella and caramelised onion toastie in seeded bread. I had the gravity burger - beautiful real beef mince, bacon, Camembert and caramelised onion. Chips were fresh and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.

Cappuccino was sublime - def one of the best coffees in Linden.

Worth your support!!!
Ashleigh Elliott
Amazing new menu from today. Had the smashed Avo and Salmon on Rye with cream cheese. Food was fresh and most definitely delicious. Service is quick and staff friendly.
Sean William
I love going to Linden!

And this is definitely a hidden gem for a relaxing breakfast/lunch.

Very friendly service, the food is delicious and healthy vibe.

Go and try it!

Visited Gravity with a friend. We had the chicken and Mayo sour dough sandwich. Was really nice and tasty. Had the beetroot health juice which is freshly squeezed at Gravity - very refreshing! Although I’m not really a sweet tooth, I tried the chocolate and cookies flavored cappuccino - something different and recommended to try at least once. Relaxed setting which is exactly what one wants from a cafe. Pricing is very fair. Will go back in the near future.
Steven Bellingan
Thanks to Rob & team for the great breakfast experience. We loved the talented live musician, life changing biscuits and awesome food! Will definitely be back👍🏻
Bronwen Davies
Excellent coffee and decent, free wifi are a good starting point. The waitresses are helpful and friendly. The toasted sandwich I ordered exceeded my expectations, and the chips are worth coming to Gravity to try! My only complaint is that the restaurant is a little dingy and could do with better lighting.
Shanice Gounden
Gravity is one of Linden's gems. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, I often find myself just spending the day working at this cafe. The manager and staff all check up on you and have casual conversations. The food is always great and fresh! They also have the best flavoured coffees- hazelnut being my personal favourite. On Sunday, we ordered a toasted chicken mayo and the hangover burger. It didn't take long and obviously, it was great!
Jared Robinson
A quick Google search led us to this gem of a restaurant. Great food and friendly staff, the best breakfast spot in Linden! The coffee is privately blended and tastes like caramel - their cappuccino is a must have!
Pieter
Saturday breakfast
Sidewalk arrangements pleasing and intimate
Owner chef quite attentive
Plates offered attractive and enjoyable
Potato rostis not making the grade
Overall quite an enjoyable experience
Will go back

Friendly service, excellent coffee, very good value for money and quality ingredients. My partner was very impressed with his eggs benedict, I enjoyed the haloumi breakfast.

Being avid restaurant goers and always looking for a new and unique spot for a yummy breakfast, we finally decided to go and try Gravity Cafe. We normally rent DVD's from the store across the road and we have always had our eye on the quaint little shops and restaurant on the other side. And boy was it worth it! I'm trying to be a bit more health conscious and the boyfriend likes breakfast but in minimal portions (he's not really a breakfast person except if breakfast is served at 12), and this was the perfect fit.

Gravity Cafe has a very light and healthy menu, but they also have some treats like french toast and cake if you're not particularly looking for a healthy meal. All the items on the menu are also very well priced and great value for the portions you get.

We ordered two double shot americano's which were nice and strong and hot. For breakfast my boyfriend had a Gravity breakfast which consisted of bacon, mushrooms, two eggs, toast (ciabatta, rye, or seeded), and a side of butter stir fried zucchini strips and rosa tomatoes. I had a smoked salmon and hashbrown breakfast which consisted of 2 crispy hasbrowns, topped with a dollop of cream cheese and a very substantial piece of smoked salmon on each hashbrown; finished off with capers and micro greens, and the same zucchini and tomato side. The food was simple, warm and fresh and honestly divine.

The service was really warm, attentive, and friendly. The waitresses are well trained, and the owner, Rob, stopped by each table for a quick chat.

I'm pretty sure this will become a favourite for us... definitely want to try out their lunch menu soon... 😊

I really believe that this is a very underrated little restaurant in Linden; maybe not everyone's taste but it's unpretentious, and they serve simple food and good coffee... And they have free Wi-Fi! What more could you ask for! 😊
Jenn Greenwood
Extremely friendly and efficient service.
Owner is always available to chat.
Dogs are welcome which is lovely.
Waitress offers the dogs water even.
Food is always fresh and beautifully presented.
Relaxing environment.
Laurence Seberini
Best value for money restaurant in Joburg hands down. Amazing breakfasts and the toasted sandwiches for lunch are awesome and generous. I come here often.

Driving through Linden this morning looking for a breakfast spot ... the Cheese place was closed ... Whippet was closed ... didn't want to go to The Argentinian .... oh wow, what's that spot ...

Gravity Cafe. Fabulous decor ... absolutely love it. Cosy ambiance, friendly owner and good service.

A hazelnut syrup in my cappuccino sounded good ... so that's what I had. Yummo! Hein had Americano and it was good.

Salmon roses and cream cheese on crispy hashbrowns with capers and raw baby marrow strips with cherry tomato and micro green salad. Served with a lemon wedge. DELICIOUS! How many times at other places do I order a fish dish and have to ask for some lemon ....

Hein had an omelette (it wasn't as puffy as it could be) with caramelized onions, mushrooms and bacon with salad and Ciabatta toast. Absolutely yummy.

Really nice little place for breakfast.
Marius De Lange
Good quality, fresh and value-for-money breakfast and light lunches. The burgers are really great!! A casual feel with nice outdoor seating.
Bessy Thomas
I stumbled over this tiny place by mistake.
Absolutely loved it!! They have the BEST eggs ever!! Please have it scrambled!! Just divine!!
I been in total about 4times always trying something new. And I am never disappointed!
Hats off to the friendly owner! Keep up the good work!
Laurice Rushton
Service was excellent. Staff are super friendly. Food was served warm and so delicious. Plated beautifully. Fabulous atmosphere and experience. Really enjoyed my morning there.
Mark
Shabby chic interior with limited and unoriginal menu. Ok for coffee and average cake, but wouldn't rate it as a spot for entertaining. I had a veg burger which consisted of luke warm, mushy red beans which were completely tasteless. Our waitress simply shrugged off my complaints. Sorry Gravity, you hold little attraction.
Kevin Barrie Levy
This quaint cafe is perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch - service is attentive and always with a smile...the owner is always around to make sure all is just right - the plunger coffee is addictive and delicious and the Banting egg muffins Devine, #KevFabFood highly recommended and worth the wait. Bravo to the team on a fab cafe - will be back for sure!
Cane.ryan
Thank you to the owner Rob and his well oiled team for the most delicious breakfast of French Toast, Crispy Bacon with cameralised banana. The coffee was amazing and your staffs friendly service was appreciated and makes your establishment a friendly environment to frequent.

We stumbled across this place whilst driving through linden. It's a quaint, lovely set up and is good for people with kids or pets. We ordered the toasted cheese and fries, veg halloumi wrap and the savory spinach pancake. The service was efficient, our waitress was lovely, friendly and quick. The wrap and sandwich was good however the savory pancake was rather dry and lacked seasoning, creaminess and the spinach tasted undercooked.

Overall I will give it another go as our waitress immediately noticed that we were not fully satisfied with our meal and said she will inform the head chef.
Nicole Kayley Langsford
A lovely little café. Had a lovely Sunday lunch for my mom's birthday with the family. The food was tasty! Great milkshakes and the caramel velvet cake was to die for! The live music was also a great addition to the outdoor atmosphere.
Carole Craggs
This is a little gem in Linden. It's a perfect working and relaxing spot. I've been for breakfast and cake a couple of times. The cake selection is out of this world - ridiculously huge decadent slices. Good coffee and a pleasant atmosphere, it's one of those places where you can sit forever and feel welcome.

I thought it high time I do a proper review of what was once my old spot (Angelo's Deli) seeing as I'm quite the regular and will happily sing it's praises every chance I get. Here's why: the new owner (well, since July '16) is doing a brilliant job at creating a home away from home with delicious food and a great vibe. The burgers are a joy, coffee is good (and not burnt, why do so many places get this wrong?) and the decor is stylish (yes, I played a part there). Appropriately priced too. Sometimes there's live music, and I'd highly recommend Gravity as a charming function venue. Well done Rob!

Had a delightful experience. Popcorn milkshake was delicious and certainly something new for me! Toasted Ciabatta with mozzarella, basil pesto and tomato with a side salad hit the spot. Naturally a Cuppacino to follow.

Love the quaint decor, the personally and friendly service and creative atmosphere. Will be back! ♡
Chilli Cherry
This is probably the third time I've been to Gravity to satisfy my craving for smoked salmon and cream cheese on hash browns. The accompanying salad makes it a healthier option and of course...extra avo for me. My friends ordered the banting burger and the salmon salad (which she couldnt finish). We then shared yummy crumpets with strawberries and cream. The portions are very generous and prices are reasonable.

Rob, the owner/manager is also very hands-on and very ready to offer advice if you're undecided about what to eat.

Its definitely worth a visit if you're in Linden and need a bite.
Bienie
Really enjoy gravity café each time I have had breakfast there. The rye bread is amazing! coffee is great too. :) service is friendly although we did wait a while for our food (however, the owner did warn us of the wait as the kitchen is tiny and the place was pretty full). Wait was worth it :)
Mark
A great spot with a great menu. The toasted sandwiches are good with an original variety to them, fresh and tasty. Coffee is good as with the smoothies!
Dewald Katzke
Had a good time here. Just had some breakfast. Good vibe and free WiFi and management is quite attentive. PS The bacon is definitely a must.
PixieVixie19
Absolutely love this place!
Food was excellent.
The gingerbread milkshake is an ABSOLUTE must-have,delicious!
Slightly more expensive, but totally worth the money you spend.
Chante Daries
Besides for the heat it was a pretty good experience. The food was good and the service wasn't bad either. It's a really quaint little place and perfect for just catching up with friends. Definitely going again.
Lawrence Atkinson
My first visit. Late morning breakfast and then, why not, a chocolate milkshake. Simply the best breakfast I've had outside a 5 star hotel.
The venue is chilled and with inside and 'garden' seating options.
The service could be marginally faster.
I recommend and I'll drive some distance to eat here again.
Manuel Zenha
Very disappointed this morning with the sheer arrogance and dismissive approach of the new owner/manager. Never did mind the slow service as the staff are brilliant but to then put up with that kind of attitude - very sad indeed. Previous owners were great the new ones however time will tell. If you're running the kitchen as you claim u do then dont allow rubber eggs to leave when I have asked for sunnyside up! Alternatively don't offer an option as to how u want ur eggs cooked! Won't be back there are a lot of alternatives in the Linden and 'Parks' area. Sad though as i had high hopes?
Caroline
Excellent crumpets and awesome vegetarian breakfast. New menu. Great service with a homely feel. Really worth a try in the new more trendy Linden
Elize Cloete
Great coffee selection with interesting flavours like popcorn- which is surprisingly good - and cookies and cream
Breakfast is good - they make great scones too

Service is acceptable

Laura-Ashley
A little bit slow on the service but if you are not in a rush and the weather is good it is nice to sit outside in the garden and watch the world go by! They have live music on the weekends and the home stores are nice to pop into. The food is good and the coffee is wonderful! They also have Entertainer specials which makes it a super affordable brunch or breakfast option in Linden.
Gavin Ford
I visited Gravity after hearing about it from friends and then read the reviews. General comment: Very relaxing, trendy and informal. Kids and pets in limited numbers, great. Live band playing 'lunch' music, gently so it didn't compete with conversation. Great staff, friendly and comfortably quick. Our food was superbly prepared...two different burgers (why not?), and tantalizing juices (Green Peace and Carrot). Gravity doesn't pretend to be upmarket in Linden. It is a great, good-value-for-money sidewalk restaurant and has my vote for a comfortable weekend lunch or breakfast.
PS: I don't know which place Top Foodie went to but Gravity doesn't serve Blue cheese burgers, with or without syrup??
Top Foodie
We went to this restaurant to try it out for the first time. If you consider the status of other restaurants in the area like Argentinean, Whippet, A la Bouffe etc this one is a disappointment.

Ambiance: This restaurant is a cafe, and offers outside and inside seating. Limited seating is available and there is a small place for children to play at. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and is the ideal setting for a quick lunch.

Menu: They offer an interesting list of cocktails on the drinks menu. The food menu offers very few options, but many more items are added as specials (not at a different price though) on chalk boards. Many restaurants normally do that to avoid their contribution towards the Entertainer Club members.

Prices: The prices of all food are very reasonable!

Food: The food was a bit of a disappointment. Let's start with the blue cheese burger that did not have much blue cheese. It is suppose to go with a sweet syrup, but all tastes are overwhelmed by a very fatty chilli patty that was way too hot. The banting burger apparently comes with a banting bun and a garlic mushroom. However, (refer to photos) I never saw the banting bun and I had the most interesting banting buns at other restaurants. We had to complain about all the chillies in the patties and the owner confirmed.

Management: The owner is around most of the time. We had some awkward moments when he asked us random questions and stood next to our table in silence, rather than checking that we are okay and move on.

Service: Good.

You are most welcome to try out this restaurant, but I will not recommend it if you have other options available.
Kirsten Bosman
We visited this place for tea and cake. Lovely coffee shop! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious cake. We will definitely be back!
Donna-Marie Sheahan
Lovely place with super service, delicious food and yummy health drinks. We will be going back soon. I had a garden salad with bacon and halloumi and hubby a chicken burger and we both loved our food.
Abi Clark
Great cooffeeeee :)
Even greater green juice and a brilliant spot in the garden to enjoy the sunlight.
Service is top notch and a menu to make everyone at the table happy.
Rachelle
What an awesome little place. Quaint, interesting people. Owner is a friendly arty sort of guy. Food prices were decent but not cheap for the amazing quality. I had a Banting Burger my partner had Bacon, cammertbear & caramelised onion Burger. It is small so feels a bit too intimate if you want space there are outside tables. There was a little Jazz band entertaining the restuarant. The service is also fast and friendly. I am definately going back.
Rea Realm
Great for a quick rendezvous, snacking & catching up with friends. Hidden little secret and definitely has a welcoming vibe. Best of all... FREE WIFI Chilled vibes, great snacks and can definitely be a regular meetup kind of place! :)
Michael Morton
Went to Gravity cafe for a quick bite. Had the gourmet burger.. Had a nice homemade patty and substantial toppings of chorizo and avo which made for a really good burger!

Coffee was also quite good! Enjoyable experience..
Anthea Chittenden
Under new management of Roger and helping hands of friendly Kossie and other staff, has turned this site into a vibrant weekend breakfast/brunch spot. They have new additions on their menu, keep in mind not to overlook the board. If you love a flawless crumpet, get on over! They have a wonderful variety. I couldn't resist the Walnut & Cardamon trio crumpets with cream, what a divine combination. The Salmon on Hash Browns will enhance anyone's day. Noticing lots of young families present with children of all ages happily tucking into varied tasty morsels. Be patient as a small kitchen so food for a larger party could take time. They offer free wifi, have noted this for a work spot when a crumpet craving attacks or perhaps just to come enjoy a delicious coffee. It's small and cozy but they also have an outdoor area, a little chilly now but lovely for summer.
Jalapeño Popper
Mik had an incredible steak, cooked to perfection... I was spoilt with the salmon on hash browns... The unexpected stop in Linden proved to be a surprising treat. We will be back.
Charmaine Rautenbach
Tried out gravity cafe in Linden on a bit of an impulse and was pleasantly surprised. So nice sitting outside in the sun in a pet friendly garden. Their Banting breakfast one of the best I've had and the hit coal stove inside is perfect for these cold winter mornings. Might just become my new Sunday morning breakfast with the doggies place.
NicoleBaileyMostert
I have an assignment due tomorrow, so decided to get out of the house and find a place to work distraction-free. My husband and I had previously been to Gravity Cafe, having heard about it via my Entertainer app, and I therefore knew that they had good wi-fi and a few cosy places to sit and immerse myself.

Gravity has something for everyone, really! They have a super outside section with tables and umbrellas, as well as a patio, a long bar table where you can spread out your newspaper on a weekend morning, and a cosy inside section with a great seating arrangement. They have banting-friendly options, carb-lover dream food (cakes, french toast!) as well as fun cocktails which you can sample to your heart's delight at their Friday happy hour!

Their menu is uncomplicated, but the dishes are certainly flavourful. They also have new dishes every now and then, which is a good way to add variety. It's not a huge establishment, quite small, actually, so gets busy easily. I had no trouble plugging into a powerpoint and getting stuck into work. The service is always welcoming and warm, but can be quite slow. While I am usually BIG on service, as you might know, this, interestingly enough, doesn't seem to deter me from wanting to return.

Simple, unfussy, a great relaxed hangout with an easy and unpretentious vibe. You'll probably stay longer than you intended..!
Claudio
Charming little spot. Service was good and the atmosphere was great - they were very accommodating in terms of our small meal tweaks too. Food was very fresh and well seasoned. Perfect for a calming afternoon drink or lunch.
Dan Vieira
Sunday morning breakfast at this breath of fresh air in Linden.

I ordered a Toni Glass Collection Earl Grey tea which was presented in a generous teapot to keep me refreshed throughout my entire meal. My meal consisted of salmon slices on hash browns with cream cheese, along with some fried halloumi and avocado, and lastly a neatly placed side greensalad. A slice of rye ensured a well-rounded and satisfying breakfast. Top notch food!

An overall pleasant experience with amazing food, superb service and adorable puppies to keep everyone entertained at this dog-friendly café. A point to keep in mind however might be that the extra breakfast sides aren't necessarily the biggest portions.

Highly recommended to anyone wishing to kickstart their day off in a great mood and with a happy tummy.
Stephen
The owner should consider refraining from human contact - incredibly rude and stressed when Gravity gets busy. The food is reasonable, but not worth getting abused for.
Nicola Veitch
Being a Lindenite I'm surprised I've never noticed Gravity Cafe before today.... But what a hidden little gem it is!
I like anywhere with outside seating so I loved that I could sit outside and watch the world pass by.
We opted for: the basic one with additional mushrooms, bacon and hash browns which my mom said was delish and I had the smoked salmon with cream cheese on hash browns. It wad superb! and Considering the price I was pleasantly surprised with the generous portions of salmon.
The food took a wee while to arrive but I didn't mind as it was pleasant sitting in the sunshine seeing the little ones have fun messing with the Lego in the kiddies area.
I look forward to returning and devouring my way through their lunch menu...
Princess Bubblegum
I have had some bad experiences in the past at Gravity Cafe, but they have definitely upped their game. Their service have improved and the food is much better than it used to be. They also make amazing coffee and that is what makes me go back every time.
Brooklyn J. Pakathi
From miniature croissants charged at standard price to average food that lacks flavour and imagination, Gravity Café seriously leaves you wanting. The only reason for its popularity may be pricing, which is fairly low. A disappointing dining experience.
Andrea Caunter
I was very pleasantly surprised by this little find in Linden. Drove past it and it caught my eye and decided to give it a chance for breakfast the next day. I had a fantastic cappuccino, brilliantly done and fairly priced breakfast and the service was friendly and efficient. They brought us fruit infused water without us even requesting it where I usually have to ask twice for a glass at most restaurants. I need to go back to taste a really great looking carrot cake I saw there.
Kersti-Lee Stevens
Stopped for breakie here and enjoyed that is quiet and quaint...the food was tasty...had the Banting eggs and bacon and my mom had the poached eggs with tomatoes...i appreciate andwhere with a great cup of coffee and we know for next time you can take your doggies and sit outside they have little water bowls out for them
Sandra Hill
I had my birthday at Gravity and it was one of my best birthdays yet. What a cozy and warm atmosphere with stunning staff. A stunning unique vibe too with great food :-)
Lauren Kim
A nice little coffee shop/restaurant with an option to sit outside on the grass. I had a fresh juice with pineapple, orange and ginger with a little beetroot. They have a spot on the grass for the kids and hey offer free wifi - always a bonus!!!
Jeanette Verster
Gorgeous breakfast spot in Linden!
Went there with my family a few weeks ago. We sat outside on the benches under umbrellas.
Lovely place, with great food.
We all had basic egg and bacon breakfasts, and they were cooked perfectly.
We'll definitely be back
Jade Roberts
4th avenue Linden doesn't quite have the same bustling nature as its counterpart in Parkhurst does, but when you drive through Linden, Gravity should be on your list of stops to make.

Open, light, bright and with some fun quirky decorations makes for a great setting, and the food is equally as good.

The first plan had flown over (as my mum likes to say when ordering a glass of wine :) so we each had a glass, reasonably priced by the glass too at R28 each. Their coffee selection also smelt amazing though, so will definitely have to go back to try it out sometime.

Our food orders, 125g Sirloin Steak with a side order of chips - R60 (the meat was tender and cooked exactly the way we had asked for it); and the peaches and Camembert Chicken Breast on a bed of mash - R80 (the mash was really great, and the combination of the peaches and Camembert was fantastic.

The menu is comprehensive without being too overwhelming and offers a little bit of everything for a light or more hearty meal.
Sonya Girnat-Hallett
Lovely find. Had a freshly squeezed juice that was absolutely delicious. Great coffee too and breakfast was so fresh and yummy. Can only recommend.
Jaecqueline Breedt
Well i wanted to write a review but i cant got there friday at 4.15 only to be told sorry we closing at 4.30 when the hours here show 10pm...so much for that had to go somewhere else
Marieke Tucker
Great location but service is terrible. Breakfast took over 40 minutes and the waiter service took forever to get coffees let alone menus... Tried them 3 times now and disappointed each time. They also need to change their music it feels like a Sunday morning going to church when you sit there.
Hein Van Vlastuin
I like the chilled vibe at Gravity, especially when the sun is shining. Gravity to contributes to the renewal of the Linden area, and gives the area a slightly younger and more urban feeling.

I enjoy the food menu and the service. The people are friendly. The menu is original and nice. The quality of the food is good, but improvement can be made here.

Summary: this is a nice place, with great potential. Some work on the menu can be done.
Michelle Brink
Just loving how Linden is becoming a new hub of trendiness. Recently decided to take a drive there, and stumbled upon Gravity. What a lovely find! It's a sweet little cafe with outdoor seating, a relaxed ambience, simple and fresh cafe foods, attentive staff and a present owner. Unfortunately they had switched the coffee machine off, when we were ready for a cuppa, which was a pity considering other reviews raved about the coffee. But really, all in a all a pleasant experience.
Izelle De Jager
Nice coffee shop to have breakfast or lunch. Quite vibey on weekends and perfect coffee shop office spot for weekdays (they have WiFi). Love the area where it is located and the owner is very friendly.

Cosy cafe, love the decor and the simple interior. Great coffee and the food is fresh, I had one of their Banting Breakfast very yummy, well done and tasty, excellent food. I like the idea of a their simple menu easy. Will surely come back to try more of the menu.

A lovely unexpected surprise as it is situated a little way from the trendy Linden cafe strip. Yet when you enter, the vibe is funky and the music just what you need on a relaxing weekend. The waitress is full of smiles and the small outdoor garden a nice idea if you have kiddies. As it was cold and wintery, we opted for the butternut soup which was just what the doctor ordered.

Another nice small and cosy little cafe in what is becoming the 'new trendy foodie spot' in Jhb. There are more & more interesting places springing up all over Linden. The cafe is small and intimate. Really nice ambiance and we were well looked after by our waitron who seemed to be tending to all tables. I was in a rush, so had a quick soup & cuppucino (good cuppa) I'll certainly come back soon for a more leisurely lunch.

Hmmmm. A friend and I had lunch here today (the old Angelo's Deli): warm and cozy, busy, prompt and friendly service, interesting and varied menu, prices not bad. We started with a flat bread to share (4 slices of focaccia for R45), my friend ordered a small sirloin steak, medium to rare, with chips and mushroom sauce (R75) and I ordered the chicken schnitzel with stir fried veg and pepper sauce (R70). The chips were the good, homemade variety and very tasty but the sirloin was over cooked and a bit insipid. The chicken schnitzel came out of a box and the peas and carrots (no more stir fried veg) out of a frozen packet. Hmmmmm.... A bottle of Beyerskloof (my standard for measuring price mark-up), a glass of white wine and a double espresso brought the bill to R373 before adding a tip. I preferred Angelo's.

So both good and bad in this review - went for lunch and it wasn't busy - got a spot outside in the sun and a friendly waitress - our drinks order arrived promptly and we ordered our meal. And we waited, and waited, and waited .. Eventually after about 45 mins, my sister who was visiting from the UK, enquired about our order. The waitress said it was the flat bread delaying the service (note .. not to have if you are in a hurry !) it was only then that the manager / owner who was eating her lunch (and must have seen us waiting & waiting etc) came over to apologise and hurry things along. We had strawberry and chicken salad (rated tasty but a bit dry) avo & bacon salad (rated excellent) flatbread not quite what I expected and the beef wrap (rated good). In their defense they did not charge us for one meal which was a great but I was so disappointed after reading all the great reviews .. Perhaps if someone had kept us informed of the delay or said flatbread takes aggggeeeessss to cook.

Quaint little spot. Menu allows meals to be easily customized. Delicious breakfast! French toast could be a little "crisper." Best flat white I've had in a while, good fresh squeezed orange juice.

Great little place! Only been open for four months and one of my favourite spots in Linden. Food is well-priced and the service is awesome. 10/10 for customer service! Try their walnut truffle - it's delightful. Also, free wifi.

Oh! It's so sweet. What a wonderful little deli shop and now my new favourite mobile office.

Wonderfully decorated with outside and inside seating (even seating for the kids). This warm little nook is filled with wonderful decor, homemade treats and great coffee. I mean they have a Spanish train coffee shooter yum and a wonderful Green juice called Green Peace.

They offer some great coffee and light meals. Great for basic breakfast and a quick bite to eat for lunch.

I'll be back for lunch, today was all about the ambience and a drink. Guess what? They just got wifi! FREE WIFI! Can I get an Oh yes!
