Review Blind Tiger - Johannesburg

A place with a garden or outside sitting area, in summer, is always a go-to! The bummer is smoking because it goes in whatever direction no matter where you're sitting, as long as it's outside. The food was great, and their Peri-peri prego burger is the one. I loved the calamari (which I hadn't had in so long). Their vanilla milkshake wasn't too sweet, and for someone like me who doesn't have that sweet a tooth, that's a winner. My not-so-sweet tooth didn't enjoy sweet potato fries. With service, I can't really fault them because the place gets packed, and it was a Friday. Affordable as well. I'd do it again!

Blind Tiger accommodated us for my husband's 40th birthday celebration and it was the most amazing and memorable evening enjoyed by everyone. The owner (Andrew) and his staff went above and beyond to make the event incredible! Andrew was super helpful from the start in the planning process, providing guidance on drinks, food, accommodating decorations, etc. and during the function managing everything and supporting every step of the way. Just under 40 guests were catered for and we had a live band which could seamlessly connect to the venue and also project videos. We had a big selection of food to choose from, everything was absolutely delicious and the food just kept coming. The service was impeccable, friendly attentive staff who served with a smile and dedication. The venue was perfect for a festive party with both undercover and outside options. Blind tiger is highly recommended. Thank you Andrew and team for the wonderful experience!

Great place for a quiet late lunch. They serve cold beer, and have a great variety of food on the menu. It’s a hidden gem, and is becoming one of my favorite spots close to work. Enjoy the garden cottage feel at the back, or if you enjoy a traditional bar feel, grab a booth as you walk in.

I had THE BEST time on Saturday night. The staff were friendly and attentive and managed to serve our table amazingly well considering how many of us there were. Wasn't hungry but ended up eating anyway as the food looked and tasted delicious! Outside garden setting is stunning. Highly recommend!

Very nice place vibe is chilled. A wide selection of drinks which look amazing. Service is excellent. Food was ok. Had the Korean chicken wings and bucket of chips.

Open on a public holiday and very decent coffee. The place is unusual for Parkview but so welcome. Hip interior that’s cosy and cool. Service is very good. I’ll be back!

Was invited to a birthday at Blind Tiger and had such an amazing time! The garden has a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere, the staff is super friendly. I ordered the fish cakes which were delicious. Will definitely be back to this gem on Tyrone.

Was there on saturday and loved it. The ambience is amazing, the staff great and the food was exceptional. I even ordered a second portion of chicken wings to take home for my dinner on sunday - they were THAT good. The waitress handled a very big and rowdy table exceptionally well and I will definitely be coming back.

Food was very good service was prompt and very friendly. Access was not easy for me from a parking and road access point of view

I had my birthday at your established on Saturday night…. I can’t complement the owner who organised it and the waitress that managed our table enough. We were a roudy bunch and there from 12 noon until 12 midnight and managed over 35 people with individual bills…. The food was OUTSTANDING, the atmosphere festive and fun and I will be back again and again and so will my friends 😘

I have been ordering on Uber eats. Only tried the chicken burger but it's really good. They always follow order instructions and seem to really care about the quality of their food.

An interesting little spot, I only visited once but the service and atmosphere was lovely for a late afternoon drink.

Our local. The sweet potato fries are to die for. Always bump into someone we know. Fabulous service. You can get decent red wine by the glass. Great addition to Parkview.

Lovely addition to the Parkview strip. Will definitely be back again. Think something special could still be done with the back garden to really finish things off nicely Inside decor and vibe is fantastic. Expect this place to do very well, which would be great. I'd love to see it around for the long term.

Where do I start? I had my 40th birthday party at Blind Tiger and it was an absolutely wonderful evening. Roman is an excellent host. Always there, but also invisible, making sure that everything runs smoothly. The waiters are amazing. Happy, efficient and helpful. They went out of their way to help us throughout the night (opening and closing doors, moving tables and chairs around, as well as helping us to decorate and to tidy up afterwards) They also ensured that food and drink kept on coming, and that my guests were happy. <br/>The food is sublime. Everything is incredibly tasty and I can’t wait to go back and try something else off the delicious menu. <br/>I can’t praise The Blind Tiger enough. What a fabulous little venue, tucked away in Parkview. Do yourselves a favor and pop in there for one of their amazing cocktails and their delicious chicken wings and sweet potato fries. <br/>We will be seeing you again soon Blind Tiger.

This is a charming spot on the Tyrone Avenue shopping strip in Parkview.<br/><br/>The Blind Tiger is inviting and warm, you feel at home as soon as you walk in. The staff are all smiles and friendliness and service oriented.<br/><br/>The menu is interesting and doesn'thave a defined cuisine style. Mexican dishes are mixed in with korean inspired dishes. The menu also needs a bit more vegetarian variety on it, hence the 4 stars. Having said that, the vegetarian food they did have on offer was enjoyable. Their sriracha and lemon sauce is worth a second visit and their hand made tortilla chips are the bomb!

Great food and lively / rowdy atmosphere. Don’t go there for fine dining. It’s a good place for a drink and cafe / pub food. I had a burger, which was a decent portion and very tasty.

*Cute and comfy hole in the wall* <br/><br/>We stumbled across this quaint little spot last night while we were waiting to grab a very early, sneaky pizza at Francos up the road. <br/><br/>I love the secret 1920's speakeasy vibe this place has going for it - which is introduced by the dark, plush curtains at the entrance and cosy maroon interiors.  <br/><br/>The bartender was just lovely, she was bubbly and incredibly attentive, whipping up two delicious cocktails in 5 minutes with flourish. I am not usually a cocktail drinker as I usually opt for a glass of wine but the Great Gatsby cocktail I had was divine. It was perfectly balanced. I had a taste of Dale's drinks - I think the one was called Mexican Mule - and they were delicious. I can definitely see this being my new after-work watering hole. <br/><br/>We did not try the food as this we stumbled upon this place (what a happy accident!) but I will be back as the plates that whizzed past onto other patron's tables looked yum.

My new favorite place in JHB! <br/>I love everything about this place, from the menu and vibe to the the amazing cocktails. Probably the best Long Island I’ve had since Ratz changed hands. The food and menu is pretty simple but it’s spot on. The burger and calamari win hands down. Great tasting everything and fantastic service. Go in a crowd. I’ll be back...<br/>

We visited Blind Tiger on a Friday night for a late dinner. We sat towards the back of the restaurant and they had a fireplace going so it was warm and cosy. It is a viby spot so was not ideal with our toddler but the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was good but need to try some other options to review my score.

Super friendly and hilarious staff, the deck at the back is a lovely setting and delicious food that's seriously good value. Drinks are well priced with a great selection. Had the beef burger once and I always have it now (I've become a regular). I didn't give five stars simply because there isn't a really strong vegetarian dish... My partner is vegetarian and this is why we don't visit as often as I'd like. Maybe rethink that? Otherwise, always an awesome experience. Love you guys!

A cool spot on the park view area. <br/><br/>However there was nothing out of the ordinary or spectacular on the menu. The chicken wings are definitely the best thing on the menu. The Mexican items lack serious flavor. <br/><br/>We did go valentines but the service wasn’t fast, I did appreciate the long stem rose at the end of the evening.

Nice venue, friendly staff, the cocktails are good, the food is not. The relaxed vibe makes it a great place to chill and have a drink, but if good food is what you're looking for - this isn't the place

Really enjoyed our evening and was definitely worth a try.  I love how it spills out onto the sidewalk giving it that real cafe feel. A pub/restaurant with a relaxed-no fuss atmosphere.. <br/><br/>The food was decently priced and had loads of flavour! Much better than your average pub grub! We were even tempted to try dessert and did not regret it.

New spot opened on the block so decided to give it a try and what a fabulous place it is !! Arrived on a Friday about 4.30 just before the rush - it has a large bar with seating in front for about 20 - 30 people but has a bigger area around back with perhaps not quite the same vibe but allows for loads more people. It is all quite dusky with burgundy walls, a long walk couch and small, intimate tables together with an impressive bar selection .. We were greeted warmly on arrival and the bar service was excellent - I ordered the Great Gatsby which is Inverroche gin, elderflower cordial, sour mix topped with tonic, a maraschino cherry and a slice of lemon - tasty !!! My nephew also had gin with a different mixer & a slice of pineapple - it was green ! and equally good .. We snacked on the chorizo & black bean dip with nachos & a tomato salsa .. very different & quite delicious. When my hubby arrived we then ordered the cheesy quesadillas also very yum and seriously considered ordering another plate ... What I did notice was loads of women and no teens - it really is a great spot to meet after work for drinks .. I've been almost every Friday since with different friends and always receive the same warm, efficient service. Photos

Having heard some buzz about this nifty little pub along the Parkview strip, my friend and I decided this was where we'd do Friday night drinks. Upon entry, Blind Tiger has a welcoming aura about it; a dimly lit, crimson-coloured and homey space. Despite first impressions being that the space is quite small, we were later to discover that through a passage there is a larger seating area, just as intimate as the main one and so don't be put off when you see the bar section packed.<br/><br/>We had to try something off the "Giggle Water" section of the drinks menu and having tasted the "Great Gatsby", were not to be disappointed. To eat, venturing into Mexican territory, we opted for the quesadilla (black bean as well as cheese with sides of salsa) and were left smacking our lips. The food (from a clearly well thought out menu) was lovely and perfect for something you'd find in a pub. For dessert we split the platter (within which you can find touches of brownie as well as lemon meringue to lick your lips to), which was light enough to not have us buckling over but also filling enough to be satisfying and bring a MIDNIGHT end to a lovely evening. <br/><br/>Throughout the experience, our waitress was incredibly attentive and always available without hovering too much. You can just tell that all the staff aim to provide a service that surpasses all others, especially in how they strive to make you feel at home. Overall, a very enjoyable experience highly recommended. Definitely my new spot of choice for amazing cocktails

Reasonably priced cocktails and food in a speakeasy bar setting. We went on a Friday night and luckily booked a table in advance as it was packed. It has a friendly feel of a neighborhood hangout but with a twist thanks to their speciality drinks.<br/><br/>Definitely recommend The Great Gatsby for Gin lovers and the Chorizo and black bean dip was delicious.

Great vibe, wonderful evening all round -cant wait for summer. Loved the giggle waters :). Host is amazing - its like coming home on a night out.
