NCW Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. The food was exquisitely prepared, offering a delightful fusion of flavors that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The impeccable service and charming ambiance made for an unforgettable dining experience.

I absolutely enjoyed myself. The food was delicious, and the service was professional, efficient, and friendly. The atmosphere was exactly what I needed after a long day in the office. I'll definitely be back again.

It was my first time trying this restaurant out. I must say I did enjoy it, I enjoyed the venison pie. I will definitely come back!

An amazing meal. Small cozy and very romantic. The food was definitely Hicham cuisine, done very well. The only thing I missed was a wine pairing with each course. But otherwise it was very good.

I attended a book launch ("Sunflowers For My Lovers" by Zizipho Bam) which was held at NCW Restaurant in Melville. There was plenty of seating inside and outside the event space and the food and drinks were great.

Great restaurant food was good, will recommend anyone to go there. Five star treatment, waiters also friendly.

Good food, but incredibly slow service. It took about an hour per course. We were told it was the first day of a new menu, but that's no compensation for spending 4 hours at dinner.
Edward Beukes
The restaurant's delectable cuisine, combined with impeccable service and cozy atmosphere, made for an unforgettable dining experience.

Went for their Sunday Feast. We were welcomed warmly and given a tour of the restaurant. There are many cosy nooks for soaking up sun and sipping on your drinks. The food is beautifully presented and the dining experience is a luxurious and intimate journey. Such a treat. Absolutely recommend!

This is by far one of the best restaurants in Johannesburg. It has so much elegance in terms of service; beautifully decorated venue; staff; the competence of the manager, Justin; the quality and presentation of food. Also a wonderful place to have exclusive events at for up to 40/45 people! We had such a special event there last night and the overall experience was worth 10 stars!

Absolutely , delectably, deliciously, impeccably awesome. From being greeted by the friendliest of hosts, to being given a tour of the warm cost homely environment , to the absolutely awesome 7 course dinner tasting menu, this is an experience one needs to explore. The menu is laid out like a teaser trailer to what becomes a blockbuster of enticing food that makes your palate sing course after course. The mushroom ice cream with the warm broth was a revelation. Definitely a 10 star dining experience in my book

We tried the new NCW Restaurant in Melville last night. The owner used to work at Overture and Roots. 6 courses and a welcome MCC for R525. The decor is absolutely stunning. Food - some dishes better than others. Overall 7/10. The maître d' was the best and the staff were great! Worth a visit.

I really enjoyed the 7 course dinner tasting. Even missed the Champion's League final but it was well worth it. Service was excellent, food was amazing and we also took a walk in between the dishes to enjoy the artworks. 10/10 for me!!!!

Fine foods - French cuisine are dime a dozen Food was good but not spectacular Service was excellent Wine overpriced- but that is relative Portions many but small - but that’s the cuisine Cost is relative especially if you not paying Maybe go back in a year or three

Jhb restaurants have enriched my life and made me part of this fast pace culture whilst enjoying the finer things in life. So ncwrestaurant was literally one of the best houses I have visited since I started my culinary adventure, and those who know me - knows that saying that... says allot! Friendliest staff, amazing food, great drinks and all round home vibe to this extraordinary decorated restaurant. Welcome drinks, fireplaces and special attention. All one can ask for.

Had a mouthwateringly memorable set menu during restaurant week - to say the food was delicious would be a gross understatement - dishes were considered with inspired whimsy and quirky twists on classic ideas. The wine selection is fantastic, which made for wonderfully surprising pairings. I will definitely plan a return visit soon.

On Thursday 7 December we had our company year end at NCW Restaurant. They hosted 30 of us on a beautifully decorated long table table. We have not had such an overwhelming positive response to our end events until our event at NCW! From the moment we expressed interest - Jade (one of the Chefs) was always available to us for any questions and requests we had! The menu was designed to accommodate us - and on the night the food was above and beyond my expectations. There are so many ‘talked-about’ restaurants who fall short when it comes to the food. Not only was the restaurant space, set up & ambiance incredibly – the food was a perfect match! Our host for the night, Justin & his team were constantly available for whatever we needed on the night. We were incredibly well looked after and the whole night ran so smoothly! He was most certainly the host with the MOST! I most certainly recommend the restaurant - for lovely lunches, or a delightful dinner – I will certainly be back in my personal capacity for sure! Wishing NCW Restaurant and their phenomenal team all the best over the festive season!

Well, if that was just the start! Brilliant and congratulations to Chef Ence Willemse

Was a great start to the night. They accommodated us without having a booking and we got a table. The 7 course set menu seemed fine at R635 per person and the wine selection is alright.
Our second course was served first and the general level of service is really lacking. No flavor in any of the meals. We were handed two cold glasses with a gelatinous blob inside and left to our own assumptions. Only after a few minutes a waiter returned saying there should be MCC poured inside and helped us. The salad we were given as one of the courses was just insulting, consisting of two cherry tomatoes, an olive and a cucumber ribbon.
Dessert was bland.
Not worth it.

We had dinner there last night and it was such a lovely evening. We were given a glass of bubbly on arrival and taken on a tour of the venue which is a nice touch. We had a set tasting menu and each course was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was outstanding and I can highly recommend an evening at NWC. I had gone out hoping that it would be lovely and it exceeded my expectations. Well done to the team there. You deliver a great experience.

Restaurant in beautiful olde house. Secure parking. Interior decor and art stunning. Welcome sherry sipped by roaring log fire really sets the expectation for an exciting fine dining experience. Dining room well lit and warm. Noticed clock in kitchen not working. Sommelier and servers seemed to have memorized a script unable to articulate or convey the menu clearly. One of our servers was really professional. bread service with the onion marmalade- sublime! However thereafter beautiful looking plates but tasteless. We raised concerns about service and enquired about flavors in certain dishes - no chef or sous make appearance. Over priced - will not be getting my recommendation.

Incredible evening - delish cuisine, amazing setting, and would-class service, absolutely wonderful evening, our new favorite restaurant 👌🏻♥️👌🏻

What a beautiful, relaxing space! We visited NCW as part of Restaurant Week (Autumn Edition).

On arrival, you're shown around their stunning venue while sipping a welcome drink (bubbly, of course!). You're then taken into the main dining area and seated for the 5 course dinner.

From the outset, each course, it's accompanying wine and the service are faultless. It was the most enjoyable evening we've had out in while!

We'll definitely be visiting NCW again.

This is a dining experience worth every cent. The beautiful decor is tasteful and eye catching, with sophisticated elegance. We were greeted by friendly staff with a glass of bubbly and given a tour. Each room held its own surprises and I’m happy to say we were really impressed.
Now the food. We chose the 10 course taster menu with wine paring. This was the launch of their Autumn seasonal menu and I can only compliment the heavenly flavours and exquisite plating. I won’t go into detail to much, as the menu does change often, but I’m a difficult person to please, and this gem of a restaurant delivers!! Even the wines were a perfect match for every dish. Don’t hesitate to spoil yourself. This is Michelin Star cuisine, ambience and service.

Wow what a fine dining experience that was. We were given a tasting menu voucher as a Christmas gift from family, and my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening with the extremely knowledgeable and competent staff on duty last night.
The chef was not the senior in the restaurant, but my oh my, was his knowledge of food, and the interplay of ingredients, of a very high culinary standard.
An exciting part of the three tasting menus on offer, is the pairing of fine wines. As neither my dear lady and I drink alcohol, we gave that a miss... but the glassed in candlelit cellar looked well worth a visit.

The five course meal was an adventure... a tasting adventure of very high standards.

Had we so wished, we could have watched the chef at work in his beautifully appointed kitchen, but we chose to rather soak up the ambience, listening to the tinkling fountain in the softly lit courtyard.

The menus, and each course, is an artwork in their own creation, and deserving of a far more detailed review.

The enjoyable evening ended with a delish cuppacino in one of the comfy lounges.

Really worth a visit is Nicolas Willemse's fine dining restaurant, at NCW Melville.

John Purves

Excellent service & fabulous food. This is real gem & can be compared to some of the best country wide in term of service & cuisine. Awesome fine dining experience.

A beautiful space, dynamic and contemporary. Great service, attentive and engaging. The food is tasty and delicious. We really enjoyed our day here and I would highly recommend it!

Stylish sophisticated and spacious. Conversation encouraging quietness. Each course a surprisingly refreshing look on life. Exquisitely presented. Leave space for the 3 d desert experience. As good as any in the cApe- better than most.

I was so so impressed with this place. Went as part of restaurant weeks spring edition. From the first greeting at the door with someone showing you the venue, to the detailed description of each dish served, the service was impeccable! The tasting menu starts with some home baked ciabatta and herb bread...both were good. The amuse bouche was dramatic in delivery. I thought lay rnjoyed the tomato soup and venison dish. The Waldorf salad and green brûlée were divine. I am actually thinking of booking this place for my next birthday party!!!

This restaurant has a wonderful feel about it, but I think it needs some improvements....
We arrived quickly got served the soups.... leaving off the Amuse Bouche. Went we asked about the Amuse Bouche, the chef himself had forgotten to make it. So after eating the soups we had to wait for the Amuse Bouche to be made. The food was lovely, dessert was not the greatest, none of us could finish the dessert, but overall the food was good, but we got served far to much food for the main course - it really felt like a waste of food... and we were a table of three and behind us the tables of two got the exact same amount. The staff had no idea what we were eating so when we asked about the meals, they were clueless. We got glares when we didn’t know where the bathrooms were. I personally felt very uncomfortable in the restaurant ... even though we had a wonderful welcoming and a tour - the service after was lacking. I would recommend this restaurant once some improvements have been made.

We attended a restaurant week lunch at NCW.
Greeted by a glass of bubbly.
Given a tour through this classic meets contemporary restaurant which boasts a wine cellar, private dining room, private lounge and main restaurant.
On Sunday they offer a FEAST!
And was it a feast.
Amuse Bouche, soup, feast to table and dessert.
The feast to table was incredibly generous and could have served 4.
There was something for every pallet!
Chicken, pasta , lamb, veg etc etc.
The winner was the dessert!
A new style mimosa with frozen citrus and the most light and fluffy soufflé with a salted caramel ice cream.
This feast was only priced at R395 which is exceptional value for money given the quality, portions and service!
I can recommend the Sunday feast to anyone!
Real hearty food meets fine dining! Brilliant!

My husband and I spent last night at NCW and it was absolutely fantastic. I have to mention the service. 👌🏾 From the car guard to the manager, the service was personalized and impeccable. The vibe of the staff is upbeat and really warm which is fantastic.

The food was good. Well prepared and really well spaced out. The chef put a lot of effort to have different textures, temperatures and flavour tones in the dishes which was greatly appreciated by my taste buds.

Lovely experience! From the boutique venue, the different experience and the really intimate set up, I would definitely return to NCW again 👌🏾

This restaurant is set in an old house in Melville and it is just beautiful! The kitchen is open to guests and works quietly on wonderful dishes. We had the tasting menu without the pairing. Everything was well cooked and seasoned the soup, lamb tagine and mimosa palette cleanser were my best. By the lamb tagine (served sharing style at the table) we were full. I will be coming back multiple times can’t wait for summer in the courtyard!

Fabulous meal: delicious, inventive, well-preserved good, paired with wonderful wines that don't feature on every second wine list in town, served by friendly, knowledgable staff. Kudos to the chefs, who rejigged the tasting menu where necessary to deal with my partner’s onion allergy 👍🏻
And the venue is gorgeous. We will certainly be back.

So glad that we selected this restaurant for Mother’s Day lunch. Beautiful decor and ambience. Service was impeccable. Waiters very well trained. The food was excellent. Had 2 fantastic starters and then shared platters for the main course. Plating was immaculate. The only negative is that the wine is expensive. They definitely need to add a few cheaper bottles to the wine list. All in all a fantastic experience was had by all. Can’t wait to go for dinner to have the tasting menu.

Visited NCW for dinner during restaurant week for their tasting menu. The menu included 7 courses. What was disappointing was that we clearly specified our allergens but they still included dishes that did not cater for the table. The restaurant has a relaxed ambiance, it’s an ideal location for a private party. Most of the dishes were tasty, the service was impeccable.

We tried NCW out for Restaurant week and were horribly disappointed. There were 2 main reasons for this:
1. NCW is marketed as a fine dining restaurant, as such you would expect a certain level of service from the waitron staff, which should at minimum include presentation of each course and an explanation of the meals when they arrive. This was inconsistent and it was clear that they were not briefed on the menu.
2. Out of the 7 courses we were only happy with 2. This was unanimous from our table of 6. By the time we reached course 3 which was the ceviche, we voiced our extreme disappointment with everything we had eaten thus far. There was no acknowledgement or consideration of our concerns. By the end of the evening we complained about our general disappointment and dissatisfaction, again our comments were shrugged off by the staff. This is a small restaurant, having heard that 6 of the diners were unhappy, surely a manager or the chef could have come to understand why? The disinterest in our complaints further frustrated us and we left the restaurant bitter and certain that none of us would ever visit again.

In Johannesburg there are too many other worthy restaurants to visit rather than having to spend your time and money at substandard establishments. At R500 per person, this was far from cheap and we thought of several other places we could visit and spend this money where we could get a delicious meal and experience.
NCW, you have all the potential to be a success, the venue is stunning and finishings are so tasteful. Put in a bit more effort with your food and diners and maybe you could try to be the fine dining establishment you market yourself as.

I was really excited to try out the Tasting Menu at NCW for Restaurant Week! Had a really fun experience on the whole. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with multiple different dining and lounging areas. We were seated in the main dining area. The service was excellent. We enjoyed most of the courses although the ceviche seemed to be everyone's least favorite. The best course was by far the incredible salted caramel cake.

A superb Restaurant Week experience at NCW. The setting was spectacular and the food, service and attention to detail matched it at every turn!

#restaurantweek #melville #posh #ncw #dinner #datenight

My first visit to NCW was during restaurant week. I was super excited to go and quite frankly was disappointed with the vegetarian tasting menu. Wine pairings were designed to suit meat dishes and so did not work with the veg menu. I was looking for some inspiration for fine dining vegetarian cooking but will need to keep looking.

The dessert course candied tomato basil jelly cheese ice cream and a charcoal cracker was was out of this world.

Totally willing to give it another try and secretly hoping (not so much since this is a public post) that the chef keeps vegetarians top of mind.

Today was the day that I made the trek to Melville to experience 'food with a story' fine dining by Chef Ence Willemse at NCW and what a beautiful autumn day it was for the trip!

Interiors & Ambiance:
NCW is a chic and meticulously curated space filled with art pieces and beautifully lit seating areas. Whether its a cozy corner near the fireplace that you're after or a sunny table in their private courtyard, they have catered to your tastes.

Service:
Justin was on hand to welcome us, offer us a tour of the restaurant and seat us with a welcome drink of Veuve of course! Thereafter, Lebo and all the staff were nothing but attentive and welcoming throughout the rest of our afternoon visit.

Food:
We did the five (5) course tasting menu which you can opt to do paired or not..
Tostada - Black Bean - Taco (paired with Fledge & Co MCC).
Cauliflower - Sweetcorn - Mushrooms (paired with Katvis Pinot Noir).
Carrot Tortellini - Grilled Carrots - Pineapple Gel (paired with Mullineux Kloof Street Chenin Blanc).
Quail - Scotch Egg - Chimichurri (paired with Radford Dale Thirst Gamay Noir).
Tres Leches - Salted Caramel - Banana (paired with MMW Kika Noble Late Harvest).

Beautifully plated fine dining served with flair! The downside.. If I am paying the amount that I am paying to eat here, I don't want to finish five courses and still leave hungry (which I unfortunately was when I left).

*Recommendation: Chic interiors, great service and beautifully plated food but tiny portions so I would not recommend arriving hungry.

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

This was the best fine dining experience I've had in Johannesburg; right from the incredibly attentive and caring service through to the deeply special space that has been so carefully curated - gorgeous art, beautifully laid out and furnished - this felt like somewhere you were welcome and could easily spend a day just appreciating it, somewhere somebody loves.

Finally of course there's the food, and here they shot the lights out. Six courses (I think I'm remembering that correctly?) with wine tasting - all carefully curated wines, and a generally better pairing than most places. The first few courses came really quickly, but we asked them for a break before the quail and they were happy to adjust for us while we had a glass of wine. We ended the evening sitting with a final glass and some coffees in one of the small rooms that are spread throughout the house.

For us, the best was the oyster with onion and vinaigrette, and the cauliflower soup with mushroom ice-cream (Seriously, that dish is almost obscene it's so good)

It was, and I don't use the term lightly, a perfect experience.

Had an amazing night last night with delicious food and great service!

The food is fine dining and has about 5 courses (excluding the delicious bread which had incredible polenta bread in the mix). We brought our own champagne for R65 corkage.

The restaurant was a bit quiet but had a very cool homely vibe as you feel like you are in someone’s gorgeous house.

I would love to come back here for another special occasion.

Absolutely wonderful! The menu is amazing and there is a fantastic wine selection. We experienced so many flavors and textures and thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions. A bit pricey but certainly worth the money!

Beautiful experience from arrival to my espresso after an exceptional food experience. You feel as if you are sitting in the chef's home and tasting his talent and flair intimately. Elegant and classy space with a twist of trendy in both their food and the ambience. Superb service tops off an all round stunning experience.

The owner is very dishonest and hotheaded. It's unfortunate because there is potential there We provided services for him and he never paid his bill.
