Review L8 Panini & Cafe Bar - Johannesburg

Nkateko Baloi
The place itself is like a maze where many of the stores are packed compactly next to each other. It does make it an interesting experience when one explores the many hidden gems such as the Salvation Cafe, which sells the best cheesecake I have ever tasted and I don't normally like cheesecake. I had not explored the mall side but walking around the stores was a fun experience. I would not suggest going there alone since the carguards tend to be fairly aggressive when it comes to tipping them and there are a few homeless people loitering around the area. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and it is a great place to go with friends as a uni student.

The place demonstrates strong support for the community and boasts aesthetic with its industrial-chic architecture. The overall ambiance creates a trendy and inviting atmosphere. Would love to pay another visit when there are events hosted.

Stunning little collection of alcoves offering great coffee and grub, clothes, proper shoe care for quality footwear, Atelier art, second hand books... A true Joburg gem.

Absolutely gorgeous setting with a lot of amazing stores. Books, music, plants, food, etc. Most stores close early, be sure to check the trading hours

44 Stanley is a really interesting place to visit. It is truly a gem in the city, both because of its vibey atmosphere and because of its aesthetic setup. It has lots of easy access parking (both free and paid options), and is relatively easy to find. Despite this, 44 Stanley is not a place I would regularly come to for leisure or entertainment. It is very expensive. Tickets for the Bioscope are about R300 for 2 people (including a pizza), and Peachy is R45 for a slider (see attached picture). Personally I only thought that the ice cream shop (Forest Gelato) was reasonable at R38 for a scoop of ice cream (but I was served 1,5 scoops). I did not indulge in the other stores (there is stationery, ceramics, clothes, vinyls, and more). However, I will say that both the Library and the le’Elephant Terrible Bookshop are must sees.

Great vibe. Everyone should check this place out if you come to Joburg. It's got a good day and night vibe. I do think that there is an opportunity for the night life scene to be slightly enhanced.

A really beautiful chill out space. Has a beautiful vibe any day of the week. The home of handcrafted furniture and artisan works. This spaces hosts handmade chocolate deli, Bean There coffee, Mr Vinyl, Salvation Cafe and Deli. There is a beautiful gallery, bookstore, bag store and also homes the Petagonia suppliers for South Africa. It’s a beautiful hang out spot for more mature crowds a bit intimate. There is a lot of parking outside.
Catherine Reynolds
Bought the most delicious chocolates here. Nice wide range that comes in a small beautiful gift box. Staff are friendly and the enviroment is so pretty.
Georgie Roberts
So worth the drive! Eclectic atmosphere and beautiful shops make it a mini-break in the middle of Jozi. You could be in Prague, but it's more affordable! Safe parking. Great ice cream. Bookstores. Galleries. Plants. Heaven, basically.
Shobna Vala
Many little shops... loved the 2nd hand bookshops... and the place selling Indian clothes and especially linen.. Many places to eat Went to the coffee shop to read There were people remote working as there are plugs and wifi... Had fun....
Miguel Tomas Oliveira
Kinda different place. Noticeable thing is, shops started with uniqueness in mind. I love my "afrique"ability now, so does this vibrant, rainbow nation. Viva 44 Stanly, viva la africa!
Colleen Mclintock
Found myself just browsing like a tourist here! Such warm, green and meticulous spaces. The prices are also for tourists but a good coffee at the Salvation Cafe . The bonsai shop looks so cool, it was closed unfortunately.
Chris Hanlin
Eclectic selection of shops...and a good selection of cafes and eateries. Very popular around lunchtime and an altogether pleasant experience. Don't expect a huge place as this is a very small site.
Simon Banister
This is a lovely little centre with a multitude of shops, a couple of restaurants and coffee shops. The shops and restaurants are located around courtyards with fountains and trees and is a great place for a coffee or bite to eat in the shade. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
Matthew Krausey
We had great breakfast at Salvation Cafe. We did some great wine tasting. People were friendly & there is a good selection of shops
Tshego Hlahla
A great place for solo breakfast/lunch or that business meeting. Love the atmosphere
Lanah-Lee Van Der Berg
Great service! Friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Burgers were very tasty and portions were generous. The cocktails are delicious! Lovely small restaurant nestled under large trees. Chilled atmosphere and vibe. Had a lovely Sunday lunch and will go back and try the rest of the menu!
Ami Brand-Stanisavljevic
The best burgers and gin cocktails in town.
Tonny Britou
Great food presentation and taste, great ambience and our waiter was freindly, accomodating and provide a guidance and advice regarding our orders.

Incredible ... Absolutely fantastic

Well worthwhile a visit in the popular 44 On Stanley precinct. Not the normal run of the mill cafe grub. Well presented and tasty.
Nicola Scorgie
Thank you L8 - what a fabulous job you did last night feeding all the peeps!
Travis Lima
Great, fresh wholesome food. Comfortable, inviting atmosphere and top notch service !

Had a great experience in the hot summer morning under the shade. The breakfast was delicious and the drinks super refreshing. I will definitely come back! It was not packed and the service was very quick, try it out😉
Rooneyfinch
The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The presentation of the food and the drinks was superb. The menu was interesting and varied. The burgers are what sets this restaurant apart though - the patties were delicious (the best in Johannesburg) and the buns were the perfect size. I will definitely be coming back.
Jonathan
Got there around 10am, the perfect time from branch <br/>Under some tree shade, birds singing and alive with the buzz of foot steps and people chatting, it was fantastic, ordered the Hibiscus and Vanilla tea, bring on the higher living, it was really, great and the Bill the butcher sandwich was sublime, steak charred to perfection well medium is perfection, <br/>I’m so going back

L8 is our Go-to weekend hangout . Top class preparations, ingredients & flavour . They serve burgers & gourmet sandwiches besides other breakfast options . For vegetarians , their Bojack burger is literally the best we’ve ever had in this city - served with spiced hand cut fries - it’s a true delight and our repeat order ! Lemonada is our most favourite drink which is a heady mix of lemonade & mint - so so deliciously refreshing . We love eating their gourmet burgers too viz. Hatchet Harry( Brie cheese , sundried tomato ,<br/>Pesto & all the yummy goodness) & one more veg option which has mozzarella cheese . We’ve eaten in over 50 cafes in Joburg but L8 is hands down our favourite because of their amazing quality and flavour !
Lizelle Brink
What a great little spot, but tables under the trees out in the shade.  I ordered the Cartman Grilled Beef Burger, which is topped with a creamy mushroom sauce, onion rings and bacon.  My friend had the McLovin burger which is served with mozzarella, homemade bacon, avocado and fig sauce.  They are both absolutely delicious.  Prices are very reasonable and service is great.
Pauline
The best hangout. Stanley is one of my favorite place and L8 happens to win my love for their ambiance and food...it's amazing. I enjoyed my hibiscus tea... Absolute bliss💞. I'm coming back soon.
Kameshri Verappen
Food is great and the setting has a charming ambiance - we ordered breakfasts and they were all delicious. The service however is really not up to standard and brings the whole experience down. There is only one waiter handling the whole floor and this was on a Saturday morning, which is probably the busiest time. They really need to get more waiters and up the service.
Gabriella Maxine Abrahams
There sandwiches are number one. They have a good selection of beer including your regular South African beers. Great for a quick bite on a lunch break. <br/>
Kuda Nyamupa
The place is small but has a great feel. Food was ultra delicious(The burgers especially). Service was outstanding. Overall just a wonderful experience. Really enjoyed their Gin and Tonic combinations 👌🏾
Arshad Karim
This is a lovely spot nestled in the vibey 44 Stanley in Milpark. Quick service, good food and great coffee. However they ran short on a few ingredients which left limited choices on the drinks menu. I ate the Lester Burnham sandwich which was good but felt the Turkish bread a little too tough with an overpowering amount of pesto. All round nice experience.
Sphamandla Shilubana
I think this is the first 5/5 for me on Zomato. Came here with my mates and I was so impressed with the kind staff. Very pleased with the fast service and the food is excellent. Perfect to bring a date here as well.
Silindile Mncwabe
In this small yet beautiful restaurant I had the most amazing relaxing ( because of the trees and breeze) breakfast ever. Even there was one waitress the service was fast friendly and efficient. Had the most delicious sandwich ever with the Mango juice that was equally delicious. It’s a definite must try and when I’m in Joburg again I’ll definitely be visiting.
Rochyrochy11 Rochyrochy11
Really best burgers in town. And I'm not even a red meat lover. I enjoyed it !!!<br/>Shops en other also worth visiting.<br/>Only thing is parking space though
Chris Worthington
Absolutely fantastic breakfast! A definite must for those in the area. Staff and helpful and friendly! Great vibe, nothing stressful just a great place to have a great chat and catch up session with some friends.
Giovanni Govender
Fantastic!!!!Food and service are both on point, really enjoyed my experience at L8 Cafe, cant wait to go back!Friendly, warm atmosphere makes you chill around for a lil longer...very nice!
Nicole Van Der Venne
Great burgers on the menu . Very nice outside seating area. Very friendly service. I really like the chai ice tea and frozen lemonade. Very good place for a saturday lunch with friends.
Riona Arjoon
I love 44 Stanley and my favourite spot in here is L8 café. Coffee is amazing. We always have the Bill the Butcher Sandwich on the gourmet turkish bread. Absolutely delicious 👌 I love the seating area. Great service every single time.

Lets first talk about the atmosphere ... tucked away near the middle of 44 stanley... sharing a square with a fee other establishments... i can imagine how lovely it must be to dine outside in spring and summer... oooh and i would love to dine here at night... it screams romance to me... sigh... now for the food...<br/><br/>We had breakfast here... we thoroughly enjoyed the sandwiches we chose that came with fries... its been a while since i enjoyed such a good breakfast... <br/><br/>The only downside were the other customers... to say l8 is popular is an understatement... and we seemed to have come across a rabid and annoying group of yoga / pilates class! <br/><br/>Ugh they kept giving us dirty looks despite the fact that we were there before them and they occupied most of the cafe tables but it was asif we had taken over their territory... they even scrutinized our choices of food... <br/><br/><br/>Aside from that i will happily fight them to dine here again... <br/><br/>
William Philip Cadman
Really chilled vibe. Super friendly service. Went for burgers. A little disappointed with my Serbian burger, found it a somewhat bland compared with the description on the menu.

After getting the opportunity to visit L8 Cafe located in 44 Stanley I was super excited as I had heard many things about this place but I'd never been myself. Off I went and out of all the places I have been this was definitely one of my favourites! On arrival I had a chat with Filip about how the name and business came about and it's not often you come across someone who talks about their work with such passion! Then onto the coffee - my addiction - it is one of the best coffees I've had, I might have even had to have 2 🙊🙊 and then the burger. This is definitely a hidden gem of a burger joint! For someone who doesn't like burgers let me tell you it was one of the best burgers I have ever eaten! You should definitely pay them a visit! OMG OMG OMG!!! Is pretty much what i would describe my experience as when visiting this little cafè in 44 Stanley. An amazing atmosphere created by two amazing owners that have an unbelievable passion for food . Their cafè is an absolute vision and was started purely out of a food stall at the rosebank roof top market 8 years ago. Firstly i would definitely recommend their range of Burgers, i know what you are thinking, everyone says try the burgers but honestly this is a hidden gem of a burger joint. I will definitely be visiting here way more often . I can honestly say it was a unbelievable burger, 1 of my top 5 burgers iv ever had, which includes travelling across the USA tasting burgers so please make it a top 5 on your list . I can not thank Filip for all your insight into the business and thank you for a truely unforgettable experience.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a visit even if its just for a cuppa of whatever, there coffee is to die for. Small secret😉.
Craig Meintjes
Best lunchtime place around. Most amazing burgers and sandwiches around. The guys are awesome and the service is excellent. You can never go wrong at L8.
Rori
Their food was awesome. My sister has a cheese burger while I opted for a Raymond Babbit. It was better than I expected and the staff was more than accommodating. The atmosphere at 44 Stanley is part of what makes the experience. My only complaint is that the setting isn't the greatest in Summer when there is a 90% chance of having bird droppings land on you, that was unsettling. Other than that, a good experience.
Bridget Meyer
Have been to L8 Cafe a couple times and have equally enjoyed each visit. Quieter than its neighbouring restaurants in the precinct, I enjoy the full attention of the staff and exceptional service.<br/><br/>Had a lovely breakfast here on Saturday morning. Ordered the Brie & Avo Breakfast and the Mr Wolf Open Sandwich - both delicious - but can recommend their burgers as well. <br/><br/>Tried an Apple Chai Cooler which I found really refreshing.
Natalie De Canha
The service, albeit incredibly friendly, was INCREDIBLY slow. We waited almost 15 minutes to order food after receiving our drinks, and another almost 50 minutes for the food. <br/>The chicken salad was insanely overpriced for some chicken, avo, Tomato and lettuce leaves. <br/>My companions bun-less burgers definitely saved the day though! Awesome foodie combos and interesting flavours 😁<br/>Won't be back in a hurry.
Kreesan Pillay
Honestly guys this is for sure one of the best places in Jhb, located at 44 Stanley. The outside seating here just makes this place so relaxing. The burgers here are definitely what you should try, but to be honest I'd stop here just for a coffee to enjoy what L8 has to offer.
Abs
Popped in lunch for with my sister today . <br/>44 on Stanley is a lovely environment great ambiance <br/>We tried L8 Cafe. I had MC Lovin bun less Burger with salad which I battled to eat every bite was very sandy :-( I informed the waiter and spoke to the manager after I ate the meal , it was kind of them to deduct the meal from the bill however does not take away the bad eating experience !! Life is too short to eat a bad meal !!! <br/>My sister had the Dude burger which she enjoyed .<br/><br/>I must say I was not crazy about the burger patty for a gourmet burger place , safe to say it was just okay .<br/><br/>Nothing extra ordinary....
Leon Pretorius
Popped in here to have a burger. <br/>Well... it was simply great. The patty, the turkish bun, the bacon, avo, etc. <br/>Really awesome. <br/>The guys that run the place are a pleasure to deal with. <br/>They were extremely busybwith Uber eats orders on the day, but still managed to deal with our orders easily. <br/>Wonderful wonderful burgers. Easily top 5 Johannesburg!
Kristelle Tracy Clark
Super cool place. Great Food , great a presentation , excellent friendly service , relaxed atmosphere. I would advise anyone to visit this amazing cafe as it accommodates for all. Its great and well worth it.
Adri Naudé Wolff
We had an excellent lunch here. The food was fantastic and so was the atmosphere. We will definitely be back and seeing that they are pet friendly we will bring Coco with next time!
Vladan
What a relaxed place... great food with a touch of European taste and careful choice of ingredients - always fresh and worth certified origin.<br/>Warmly recommended.
James Marsh
Great Cafe with a great menu, friendly owner and staff! Had some awesome Belgian beer! The spot is quaint and cozy with a great vibe to it! Will definitely be returning!🍻
Alessio Lencioni
Such a great little spot. Simple and quick , the owners are always so accommodating. The coffee and craft beer selections are great too! The Boris The Blade is a must!
Estelle Roux
Best burgers and good beer - really delicious mushroom sauce, and the chips are money. Quite pricy but good quality. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service :)
Michael Morton
We've been a couple times and are yet to have a bad meal. It was freezing this weekend in jhb and even though it's located outside we chose to go anyway! We were welcomed with nice warm blankets to keep us warm. A very nice touch! <br/><br/>Our waitress was a legend, incredibly helpful and a good sense of humour. Food was great as usual.. Coffee was good... love 44 Stanley and these guys are just one of the many cool spots there!
Kevin Simon
Really awesome restaurant! The service is amazing! The food is absolutely awesome! And vibe is amazing! Really nice, small restaurant which will never disappoint!
Itumeleng Sane Etsane
I've only been here for the burgers, they are amazing they also have a variety of crafts and the staff is super friendly, the place is small but it's great, you know that saying about dynamite?
Hang T
Lovely place in a very nice courtyard, awesome for brunch outside on a sunny day! However, most tables seem to be outdoors so this wouldn't be such a nice place on rainy/colder days. The food is great! I had the L8 Breakfast and the brie on top of the scrambled eggs is quite creative. The staff is very nice but when entering, it was a bit confusing since there were other restaurants next to it and no staff welcomed us and helped us grab tables.
Jaynisha Patel
L8 is a trendy spot for a quick lunch or breakfast. There is only outside seating so beware on a cold day. The service is very friendly and helpful. I had the chai latte to drink, it was nice but a tad too sweet for my taste. <br/><br/>For mains I had the hatchet Harry. It was interesting and I enjoyed the flavour combo but did feel like it was a little bland without extra salt and chilli. My mum also felt that her sandwich was bland. My dad's roll was too hard to eat and his chicken over dry, but they were kind enough to take his meal off the bill despite his insistence not to. <br/><br/>Overall, good spot for sandwhices. I would recommend the hatchet Harry from the three we had at our table. Looking forward to going back to try the breakfast.
Annie Hodes
Love 44 Stanley and this coffee spot is as divine as the others in this trendy precinct, great place for a coffee under the trees in the courtyard
Meet & Eat
This was a great, authentic experience. We went to JHB for the Neighbourgoods Market, which we were disappointed to find out was not open on a Sunday. Seeing as we were already in the area, we decided to pop in to 44 on Stanley for a quick brunch.<br/><br/>Our original plans were to have a champagne brunch, but we were disappointed to find that none of the restaurants were serving alcohol at that time. Except, of course L8. Coffee, tea, a bottle of wine, a few craft beers and some yummy meals later, we were super satisfied with this place!<br/><br/>Not sure why they only have craft beers on the menu, as this turned out to be quite an expensive outing, but it was nevertheless worth it!<br/><br/>`their service is amazing, something very rare in JHB, their food is fresh and delicious and their menu is exciting. <br/><br/>We will definitely go back for a late lunch next time to try out some of the other items on the menu. "The Stewie Griffin" - hell yeah!
Robyn Louw
Ok so we didn't have much time so could only fit in a coffee, but my-oh-my was it a good one! We ordered the 'Belgian chocolate and biscotti coffee'. It was delicious!!! You scoop the gooey chocolate mixed with crunchy biscotti pieces then drink the coffee, heaven!!! Please go try it...too amazing!
Christian Cook
Best sandwhich and chips in town guaranteed. A lovely vibe and great people food and drink to keep you coming back. Great selection of beers as well
Esther Shaidi
Placed an order to take away. I was treated by a friendly voice on the other side and quick service when I got there. They had prepared the wrong drink but changed it with no charge to me. <br/><br/>Ordered the Hatchet Harry which was a perfect, refreshing lunch choice. It came with 2 slices of San Francisco sourdough bread but I ate just the one. I also ordered a pancake latte, I highly suggest this if you need a cooling caffeine fix.<br/>Worth a visit!
Yanir Grindler
Great little spot with a small, tasty menu and great coffee. Simple, uncomplicated, easy, modern food really well presented. Other restaurants need to adopt the same, small menu approach. I'm tired of reading a menu like a book, taking 15 minutes to make a decision.
Bevan Lewis
Always great and attentive service, a small menu ensures that everything tastes great. The speciality coffees are reason enough to go, love the pistachio and almond cappacino !!! <br/><br/>Being in 44 Stanley and sitting in the courtyard always makes for a great atmosphere.
Likers Of Things
Our fabulous welcome lunch was simply the best! <br/><br/>The awesome bosses took us for lunch and little did we know that it was more of a feast then just a free lunch! (There is such a thing as free lunch!) <br/><br/>We shared the most marvelous and hella sexy looking tapas style panini's : Mixed flavours, textures and tastes! It was happily devoured! <br/><br/>Thank you L8 Panini & Cafe Bar and the Conté Ladies for the excellence service and all round great meal! <br/><br/>Hello 2016! <br/><br/>#TastyTuesday #TriedSomethingNew #Paninis #Lunch #LoveFood

A very quaint, nice restaurant. Very exotic food. All of their sandwiches and burgers are made with Turkish bread. Both owners are serbian. All their chips are hand cut. Food is a bit on the pricey side. Drinks as well. Service was great. On tap beer served as well. Would not mind bring family here occasionally. <br/>
Dani
Very lovely little restaurant in 44 Stanley <br/>The vibe is really nice and so is the food <br/>I defiantly recommend this restaurant <br/>And the cold brew coffee is a must
Nabila
Popped by for lunch. Great service and friendly staff. I had a Lester Burnham sandwich (essentially a dressed up caprese) which was a bit below average. The fries were terribly oily so I couldn't quite stomach them. Friends went with the carpaccio salad and the banting burger and they were all quite impressed. Overall, nice vibe and service with a mixed food quality.
Shae Leigh
Made a quick stop here one day when it was about to close and they were still willing to help me. In fact, it was the owner who served me. The drink wasn't the greatest or maybe not what I expected but I was impressed by their enthusiasm.
Alex
Great little spot! The team that run it are delightful and really excited and enthusiastic about this little place! Great burgers and some cool mojito flavours! I tried the white chocolate and granadilla. Also ate a salad - which I never do - and was very impressed! Defo worth a lazy afternoon visit!
Adrian Ciesielski
A great little hideaway and an even better crew, expect fresh food with a vibe that is complimentary to the atmosphere of the venue. The Doctor Gonzo burger is delicious, and so is the selection of beers - you won't be disappointed
Mieke
Food is mouth watering.. Out of this world. It's located outside so it is great in the summer especially for brunch. I go there often. Waiters have such a cool artistic style going on, dreadlocks and so. It is quite small so sometimes it might be full. Portions are big. You definitely get good value for money. They also offer beer there.
Calvin Axe
I think this one of my new favourite place to get my #munchies. Tried the Boris the blade last week and it was so good I had to share it with a friend . today I'm having a chilled Monday breakfast and the blueberry maffin was magical. The beats playing in the background always get me grooving . well done
Llewellyn Roberts
Vincent Vega Burger, Raymond Babbit gourmet sandwich, pancake Latte and wild honey blonde craft beer<br/>Awesome food and service from and excellent restaurant
Erhardkk
Great coffee delights...pistachios in coffee? Yep, get it here. Delicious burgers in the cool setting of 44 Stanley. Busy atmosphere and friendly service.
Wendy Shusha
By far my favorite mid week meal hang out. The owners are laid back and friendly, the service is always on point and the food has such amazing flavor. They make their own home made chili sauce that is the best thing to add onto your chips, if you having a burger add the chili sauce to your mayonnaise. <br/>They also make an amazing pistachio espresso. <br/>I could honestly rave about everything on their menu.
Anuschka Wischnewski
What an incredible, little place. The owners are exceptionally friendly and make you feel right at home. The ambiance is wonderful and relaxing. We only had drinks but I can honestly say that it was one of the best cappuccinos and frappés I have ever had. The neighbouring table ordered burgers and they looked amazing. Will definitely be going back!

I've only been here once, and I'm not sure why...L8 is a hip, laidback, open air cafe in the middle of 44 Stanley.  They serve a wide range of gourmet coffees, sandwiches, pies, and burgers that go above and beyond what you'd expect of such a small little kiosk in the midst of the hustle and bustle of all the stores in compound. The names of the dishes are a riot too, with cool, zeitgeist-y, pop culture names like the 'Vincent Vega' or 'The Dude' that'll have you feeling amused and nostalgic at once.<br/><br/>The chips are great (here with the yummy, veg Lester Burnham) and the specialty coffee, the L8 Croc, has been my favorite in recent memory. A rich confection of belgian chocolate, cookie bits, and cream, it's more of a dessert than a midday pick-me-up, but what a dessert it is. My coworker was also a huge fan of the pies and got one every morning. To top it all off the guys are some of the friendliest, sweetest I've seen around. Food, vibes, and service--what more could you ask for?<br/><br/>One warning: wi-fi available, but no outlets so mobile office with caution!
Stef
The best burgers in town. The guys make their own mince! Served on Turkish bread! Jinne Boet! Epic stuff! The two European owners are legends!
Mbulelo
I love having breakfast here, great atmosphere and very nice craft beer. The service is good too & it's child friendly, wholesome fun for the whole family.
Natalie Katz
I love the 44 Stanley vibe and L8 is in the heart of it. They are known for their sandwiches, burgers and paninis and they serve delicious craft beers, G&T's and they have a wonderful selection of wines. They really have a great menu, dying to go there for breakfast. <br/><br/>The service was good, but the food did take a while to arrive. <br/><br/>Now onto the food, I ordered the McLovin’ burger it was tasty, but kind of lacked seasoning. The patty was cooked well, but my greens were soggy :( The boys at the table ordered The Dude and they absolutely loved it, the yolk was runny and the flavours were tasty. Others at the table ordered the Mr Wolf open sandwich: chicken, feta, peppadews, avo and L8 sauce. The chicken was succulent but needed more sauce. <br/><br/>A lovely place to visit on the weekend with some friends.
Cimone Jae
Friendly, upbeat people. Great wholesome foods. L8 Cafe makes beautiful turkish bread and the home-made mayo and hot sauce is really really good!
Nkululeko Kunene
Great place, lovely ambiance.... I loved their strawberry/mint rockshandy and the Mclovin burger!!! Definitely will be coming back soon!!!!!
Amelia Beattie
Best (bunless) burgers in town! Loved it! Jonathan Beattie <br/>Lovely craft beers too!<br/>The service was excellent!<br/>Definitely will be back soon! <br/>
Jonathan Beattie
This place is awesome. Service by the owner always helps! Food is great. Wholesome and so tasty. Prices very reasonable. Very friendly service. Slow, but then there is no rush on a Sunday afternoon
SimonThePieMan
This is a Great spot for a quick bite. Thier food is top quality and run by 2 guys from Serbia. The owners personally serve the food to you and take your orders which shows that this is not simply a place to try and make money. These guys have passion for what they do. Oh although their coffee aint bad, rather treat yourself to Bean There coffee hidden around the corner.
Zeenat Patel
L8 offers a great selection of healthy fast food (open sandwiches, Panini's etc.). Their toppings include some of the freshest ingredients. The service is excellent with the waiters trying their best to get our food to us as quickly as possible given that we were in a rush. I recommend the Hatchet Harry and the vegetable pie. Both were equally enjoyable and looked so good to eat. Seating is al fresco so be sure to visit them on a sunny day for a quick brunch or lunch.
Meraj Chhaya
I visited this restaurant to order a smoked salmon sandwich for take-away.<br/><br/>The sandwich was very rich, came with french fries, but had very little salmon in it.<br/><br/>The prices are rather high, but the service was very good.
Merelda
Not a place for quick lunch, but a good place to wait for some good sandwiches.<br/><br/>L8 is a great place to chill on a sunny day. It offers the great 44 Stanley vibe, friendly service (even if they are swamped with people), and delicious coffee. However, the 'kitchen' (really just a grill) is very small, so every time we go it takes a very long time for the food to be served. Since Salvationcafe is closed on a Monday, L8 gets incredibly busy and last time I went they had to turn a couple of customers away because they couldn't cope with the load.<br/><br/>I had a couple of different paninis, sandwiches and burgers, and they are all pretty delicious. I especially like the sandwich bread, it's very crusty. The special coffee's are especially yummy, and gives you quite a sugar high afterwards. The food is more on the expensive side, and I'm not quite sure I can justify the price with the quality and the wait especially when there are so many different cafes in around. I can sure say that they are definitely not my first choice in 44 Stanley though.<br/><br/>Bottomline: Good vibe, but not amazing enough to warrant a special visit.<br/><br/>Pros: Good food and drinks, friendly service, good vibe and location<br/>Cons: Slightly too expensive, long waiting time
Annie
Popped in for Sunday lunch and had the Bill the Butcher & Mr Wolf aka L8 Chicken, with a side serving of hand cut fries. Both dishes were tasty and well presented, topped off with friendly service. Also tried L8 Biscotti Croc coffee which is like a dessert and coffee mixed into one a great little twist. L8 is well priced and would visit again
Julie
I had the biltong salad, minus the biltong.   Unfortunately this salad didn't come anything close to those offered by neighbouring restaurants, in terms of contents, taste or price -- basically too expensive for what it was.  My friend had a panini and said it was good.  Service was attentive and friendly -- almost too attentive.  Really nice to be able to sit outside in the courtyard, but I'd probably limit myself to a coffee here next time.
Andre Red
Good food, friendly service and WIFI on tap. Excellent working lunch.
Linguini
Great small place to have a sandwich, but the French fries are very oily and deserts are not impressive.
Jordan Major
This cafe ha some of the best sandwiches in Joburg, and a really incredible atmosphere. Every time I'm here it's always special
Minja Milo
Great Food, Great Vibe, Great Service!! <br/>The environment is super relaxed and the chicken salad is amazing not to forget the brownies.
