We had my best friend Alex's bachelorette's party on Saturday night. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the entertainment was brilliant! We had a really, REALLY great evening!! Would recommend it to any of my friends.....

My first time at beefcakes was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment I walked in I fell in love. It is the perfect spot for a girls night out. DO NOT BRING YOUR MAN HERE. The atmosphere and interior were electric. Friday night was build your own burger night which was a brilliant idea. The burgers were in house and were big, juicy and grilled to perfection. The show put on by Holly Diamond brought back an amazing nostalgia. Perfect mix of dinner and a show. What really steals your heart here are the Beefcake guys. The best hospitality I've ever recieved...by gorgeous, shirtless men. I will definitely be back!

Yes Beefcakes is now painting the Jacaranda city pink with its inimitable flamingos and palm trees.
Having had a fabulous time at both the Joburg and Cape Town Beefcakes, I was unsure what to expect from the Pretoria crowd. A little more subdued but a warm welcome by owner Grant and our awesome waiter Sean made us feel right at home.
With our first Long Island Ice Tea (the pink cranberry variety of course) we settled in for an evening of good food and entertainment.
As usual the food did not disappoint. Starting with some Nibbly Bits, we enjoyed some spicy nachos and onion rings followed by a signature Buffy the Hamburger Slayer.
A few more drinks, a deliciously tangy Apple Be Martini and Pink Tea, and we were ready to be enthralled by miss Betty Bangles.
Having heard a lot about her, I was eager to see her in action. She is just a treat and perfect for the crowd of ladies and gents in Pretoria. A distinct Afrikaans flavour with all your favourite Broadway numbers in between. Betty darling you had us all laughing and singing right along.
A couple more drinks down and everyone was ready to mingle, party and keep the winter chills at bay.
Beefcakes is the new baby on the block in this part of town but it's every bit as entertaining as its counterparts. So get your buns there for a fun and fabulous jol!

You have to read the menu just for fun - it sets the tone for the entire Beefcakes experience. The drag show is hilarious. The food is great.
Beefcakes is definitely a fun girls night out.
Even though you may come here for the beefy cakes on display, the food at Beefcakes is actually good! I love that you have a choice of burger patty, including ostrich and vegetarian. The build your burger option isn't the best though, the caramelised onions look like they've barely met a hot griddle, and the cheddar cheese is as basic as a basic snitch.
Everything is just fantastic here. The atmosphere, the food, the entertainment, the music and the.... uhem scenery. đ the burgers are so good and they even have a healthy banting option for those who are so inclined. Really amazing experience.
Let's be honest, the food is nice here but that's not why you go to Beefcakes. The entertainment and shows are the reason. That paired with great service and laughs that make your tummy sore from laughter, totally worth the visit. But don't get me wrong the food is tasty and mixed with all of the above its a memorable evening to keep you wanting more.

Had my sister in laws Bachelorette party there. The show with Drag queens were awesome. The food was good, however, it got cold by the time we ate as the show began after the food arrived. The atmosphere was great and all staff members were awesomely helpful.
Aaah beefcakes. Drag shows, hot boys, and amazing food? This is the way to go. The burgers here are fantastic and paired with a good drag show, this is a really nice place. And the boys are topless (most of the time) so that's something to enjoy. Babs is right next door so beefcakes is out pre outing before dancing the night away. Think his name is Gary Griffin or something like that, gentle soul and really good! Service is a bit slow due to them always being full but none the less the experience is so much more â€ïž
So after having to book 2 months in advance we arrived to be told we would be seated in the VIP area. We had a great evening. The dinner and a show work well. The way they do the food is definitely designed with speed and mass production in mind.
They give you a choice of beef, chicken and veggie burger. They place a tray with a selection of toppings on the table for you to create your own burger. Not the best burger I've had and you can tell they are after quantity and not the quality so much.
They had great service and did not have issues with brining out our own cake with cake fairs that we asked for them to add.
The show was great. I would recommend it to anyone. Just don't go there is its the best burger you want. I think they could do better and still do the pace and high numbers.
Came here with my dad one random night - it happened to be the "Drag Queen" show evening and damn it was just a fun, amazing evening! Burgers are a win too, but the chicken wraps are ooooh so tasty too!đ
What an experience! Besides the magnificent drag show, shirtless waiters and multitude of bachelorette parties around, the food was actually good. I had the chicken burger combo: chips were great and chicken was succulent. The variety of extra toppings were on point. Only burgers were on offer when I was there, but with the excitement of everything else going on during the evening, it's all you really need.

A pink cocktail is a must ! The food was as juicy as some of the bodies on the floor đđ» the burgers were really delicious. The show was a lot of fun and we thoroughly enjoyed every second of our time here.
Atmosphere is pink pink pink!! groovy vibe... Cocktails are standard. Show is hopefully worth the wait.... Eye candy is a treat for the eye.

I was invited to a show and loved it!! The "gals" were entertaining and their line up was great. I had a burger which is really tasty however a little on the expensive side. Wine is also pricy. The waiters have manners and look great!
I have only been here but but it was such an epic night. My friends and I enjoyed the bitchy bingo :) It was a lot of fun. The burgers are huge but absolutely delicious.
My high rating is definitely due to the awesome atmosphere! Very fun and entertaining, nothing similar in JHB. Had the Poppers and Beefcakes burger, both fine. But the show was the major attraction!

I visited Beefcakes on a Tuesday night for bitchy bingo and was pleasantly surprised by the food. Tuesday night was very quiet so I would recommend rather going on a Thursday night onwards as the atmosphere was a little flat.I tried the non alcoholic Shirley temple which was very sweet but not to my liking. The mojito was average. My friend ordered a 500ml bottle of water and was given a 1.5l bottle by another waiter.I had a FAB chicken burger with avocado, feta, pineapple (swopped out with bacon) with a chive and peppadew relish and warm mustard sauce. This burger was seriously delicious and much better than the other burger places around. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the flavours worked well. I also love the chips here which are really good.I tried the jalapeno poppers - the batter wasn't nice, a little soggy.The show started at 8:40 and was done by 9:30. Service was okay, nothing special.Something to bear in mind is that the R80 cover charge is added to your bill and is a little unfair to pay a tip on that as well. Its a great place to go out with the girls.
Beefcakes is the perfect venue to entertain an out of town visitor both for its food and eye candy.
I have to admit we did get there quite late and the restaurant was rather quiet.
That was more than made up by the warm reception and excellent service from our delicious waiter Shane who was really attentive
This time around I had the healthy option of 3 mini beef burger patties sans the bun. The burgers were absolutely delicious... Perfectly cooked, tasty and juicy.
I really think they need to relook the veggie burger recipe as it isn't great. ( tastes stodgy)
That said the nachos is a better option for a vegetarian.
My other friend also enjoyed his beef burger with all the trimmings claiming it to be delectable.
I'd go back for the beef burgers and obviously the show which we missed.
Thought we'd give Beefcakes a test drive. Very enjoyable evening, burgers are really reasonable and delicious. It was Dancing Divas last night and we enjoyed a very funny drag queen. Wouldn't frequent regularly as better suited to a bachelorette but fun nonetheless.
Had a fantastic 21st Birthday Celebration at Beefcakes Illovo - staff went to a lot of effort to ensure  that our whole function went off smoothly - show was mindblowing, food was amazing and service was very good considering how busy they were. Thank you for a memorable event...
Let's be honest, no one goes to Beefcakes for the food but if it's delectable cocktails and hunky waiters you're after then this is definitely the place to be. Throw in a few fabulous drag queens and Beefcakes makes for a fun girls' night out. Oh and the burgers aren't half bad either.

Beefcakes is a fun night out when looking for a novel location for a girls night. Personally I'm not a fan of the half naked waiters stripping and dancing for your tips but you know what you're in for the minute you step in the door.
The decor is kitch but quite cool with stereotypical pink flamingos everywhere as well as fun little party props and disco balls.
As for the food, it's not bad. It's not exceptional either though, especially for the price. You can get a decent burger and cute little sliders which are always fun
Fun night out. Seems to be the spot for bachelorette nights! Guys are cute to look at, the entertainment is brilliant. Food is what it is, the service is good and the staff are always friendly and more than accommodating in making sure that you have a wonderful evening *hint hint : body shots.
Beefcakes are famous for a few things: hot topless male waiters, fabulous drag queens and lots of hen's parties.
It's a treat for a girls night every couple of months. Besides being able to take body shots off of the hot waiter of your choice, their food menu is equally enticing.
I recommend the veggie burger and its accompanying chips (cos I love carbs, obvs) as well as the nachos. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals thoroughly.

If you are not a drag, or maybe you are, and you are game for Dinner and a Show, then this is a fabulous choice. Entertainment at its best, be entertained by the Drag Queens that put on a show or the Beefy Topless Boys that serve your meals.
Basically it's all about the burgers. A great variety and some rather creative options too. But at the end of the day, it is only a burger and for a burger to be a hit, it's got to be pretty amazing and different.
Burgers are somewhat pricey and more on the expensive side. But you are definitely paying for the entire experience and the pink Miami styled 80's Burger Bar with Flamingo wallpaper.
If you are planning on having drinks you best have some spare cash. Cocktails are amazing yet pricey, but STRONG. Thus it sort of evens out in my eyes.
If you are a wine drinker, this is not a place where you are going to get an endless list of bottles to choose from. They have a smaller selection yet covering everything you could be tempted to try.
It's definitely all about the entire experience at Beefcakes! The show. The boys. The drags. And the shots!
Most people may not head to Beefcakes for the food but their chicken burgers are ridiculously good. One of rhe best places to go for a laugh and girls night. Does not allow for a single dull moment!

Has got to be one of the best bachelorettes I have ever been. We had so much fun and the waiters are amazing (and way too good looking). The show is not to be missed. The food is okay - good for just a snack but it's an average meal - good to line the stomach for an evening of cocktails.

This place is definitely more about the party than the food. The decor eludes to the 80s in Miami - pink flamingos, neon lighting. It's has a very festive vibe. I would recommend it as a starting point for a crazy-fun bachelorette night.

My oh my! What an experience!!! I've been there on two occasions now, and both times were just fab!! Such a fun place with a killer vibe, hilarious entertainment and pretty boys to serve you, what could be better!! The food is also pretty yummy, and the drinks always cold!! This is definitely a spot you go if you are looking for a relaxed, fun night out with the girls ... The Friday night we were there it was mostly boys! Young topless waiters who are attentive (I think I just smirked :)), a cabaret show and good food (we had cheese popper starters which were huge and spicey and very, very good nachos) - hamburgers were good - quite pricey on the drinks menu R49 !! For a Cosmo - all added to an atmosphere of pink flamingos & loads of laughs. Not a place for serious conversation or a romantic evening out but definitely worth a visit !
Beefcakes is the go-to place for Bachelorette parties & ladies 'Book' Clubs, and as such it was one of these that I was invited to. A Miami south beach decor with lots of pink flamingos. Plenty of fun shooters, Naughtily named girly cocktails and bubbly seemed to be the order of the night -- and for R300 you can even drink a body shot off your selected beefy barman.
This place seems to be all about the party and drinks, so they keep it simple when it comes to the food. There are the American Style Hamburgers where you can select one with toppings straight off the menu or make your own using the following pointers:
1. Choose your meat (ostrich, beef, chicken, vegetarian),
2. Choose how you would like it cooked.
And 3. Choose your side of french fries or a salad.
*Recommendation: If this is your style of party for a celebration, you will thoroughly enjoy it!

A real experience for those who are REALLY open minded to a new and unique experience! The food is great but the shows are even better! A true dinner-theatre experience for anyone who loves live cabaret shows and great burgers. Only come if you aren't homophobic and love foods burgers

Celebrated my birthday here in 2013. I must say after all the hype around their calendar etc i was highly disappointed in their "beef" and "buns" but their burgers were pretty good - having a chilli vodka burger was definitely something different? Service wasnt too good our waiter took our order to another table and after a few minutes he gently picked it up and brought it to our table as if nothing was wrong and he was not very attentive. Entertainment was fantastic and good atmosphere. Just need to work on their "beef" offerings

A LoveFood! Blog team member recently enjoyed a night out at Beefcakes Burger Bar in Illovo.
Itâs a friendly, fun place with frivolous entertainment, an awesome selection of cocktails and the burger was absolutely delicious! On the menu for this particular team member, was Buffy The Hamburger Slayer and it was just that. A beast of a burger with bacon, mature cheddar cheese, caramelised onion, avocado and a creamy mushroom sauce. Weighing in at a hefty R95 â it was worth every cent. We were amazed by the array of toppings available for the burgers and the waiters with no toppings â definite eye candy for the evening out.
This is a fun place to be shared with anyone!

My sister and I went to Beefcakes as we hadn't been before and we thought we would try it out! Firstly, after making my booking, I received a reminder sms of my booking- which was great. I love service like that! Although the restaurant was very quiet, we had such a great time. Our waiter was awesome and very friendly. The food is really really delicious- the portions are huge and super tasty. We had such a fun time and can't wait to go back.

For a fabulous, camp night out, look no further than this burger hangout in Illovo. Food is delicious and they have entertainment most nights - it's a gay owned restaurant and it welcomes all - it is a good place to hangout with friends and become very popular for bachelorette parties - the waiters are all very friendly and yummy to look at and the service is impeccable. Booking is 100% essential.

The food is delicious! Some of the best burgers I've ever had. The menu is quite fun too - especially the drinks menu. Some very witty cocktail twists.
If you're going, be prepared for the drag show. Quite fun and not too risque. It's mostly singing though - maybe in the future we could have some comedy too?

The night didn't start off too well but eventually the staff made up for the bad start. We made a reservation two weeks before visiting the restaurant and upon our arrival there was no table allocated to us even after I'd called to confirm our booking. The guy we spoke to, Michael, was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience and arranged a table for us. While we had to wait forever to get out drinks orders taken, the performance in the background kept us quite preoccupied.
The food wasn't as great as I'd hoped. The burgers seemed as though they were home made, and didn't resemble those of a burger bar -however I did appreciate the mixture of herbs used in their beef burgers.
Overall, we ended up having a good night which is mostly attributable to the drag performance.
I do believe that the restaurant staff need to communicate with each other especially about reservations as it's a tad annoying to have to wait while they check whether a reservation was made or not. Would definitely consider going back, although that might not be anytime soon.

If youâre from Cape Town like me, youâve probably heard of Beefcakes and my interest was piqued when I heard theyâre opening up shop in Jozi. For no good reason, Iâve never been so I was delighted when they invited Laurice Taitz and I to try them out this week.
I promise, youâve not had a dining experience like thisâŠ
We got straight down to drinks, I had the Shirley Temple (on the right), off the rehab (non alcoholic) menu - super yummy
The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the decor. Think pink & white. Flamingos, feather boas, & glitter hats. Now picture all of that everywhere!
This burger joint has sass. The way it works is that you choose your meat (chicken, lamb, ostrich, beef or veggie) followed by your choice of toppings (there are some yummy preset combos or your can build yours from scratch) and then you choose your side. I had the veggie burger with the gourmet topping (camembert with cranberry jelly & rocket) with skinny fries.
The starter options were all of my favourites: nachos, deep battered fried onion rings a jalapeno poppers. How to choose? Well you donât have to, they have a nibbly bits starter that combines all 3 â pure genius & everything on the plate was really good!
The entertainment for the night was Bitchy Bingo â my 1st time & heaps of fun! And donât worry, itâs not really bitchy at all. There are prizes so make sure you listen up, the game moves fast!
My veggie burger was fine (veggie burgers can be so tricky, Iâve had many bad ones & oh, Iâm not vegetarian, I just love a good veggie burger) and the toppings really made it for me. I abandoned the cutlery & jumped right in with my hands & had the cranberry running down my fingers when I was done! Totally unnecessary but we decided to share the chocolate brownies with ice cream for dessert (called âHappy Endings!â). I prefer mine gooier (thatâs actually a word, I googled it) but I liked that theirs came topped with (unexpected) nuts (walnuts I think).
If burgers arenât your thing (whatâs wrong with you?!) thereâs also a selection of salads, wraps & quesadillas, so fret not there are plenty of options. I liked the âcelebration menuâ for bigger groups where the table gets nibbly bits platters to share & everyone can order a burger of their choice for R130 pp. No more painful math to split the bill. Smart.

This is a great place if you're looking for something different - particularly for the ladies. Loved the glittered up American diner look with flamingo wallpaper. The food wasn't bad - quite liked the variety in burgers. The F.A.B. burger that I had was mouthwatering (I love avo and feta). The show was..... well not exactly Broadway, but for R75 it was good entertainment. Thought it could've used better corriography though given that they were lip-singing to the original music. but the host was one of the funiest comedians I've heard in a while. The staff are incredibly friendly and HOT (particularly when they take off their shirts). it's great fun trying to guess who's gay or not. Overall great night out.
In love with the staff and all the kitsch 1950's look-flamingos and bubblegum boys everywhere And I loved the burgers. In fact my friend and I each ordered the three mini's each and shared. So I got to taste 6 flavors or awesome. What a treat, what a treasure! I can't wait to go back
Great for a girls night - entertainment was fabulous as was the service. We all had burgers and none of us had any complaints at all other than the price (it's a little on the expensive side- so not for a weekly affair). I had the Gourmet burger (camembert and cranberry jelly) which was absolutely Yummy. The cocktails were also really tasty. Overall a fantastic experience, I would definitely visit Beefcakes again with my girls. The Pink Tea cocktail is so so delicious - it went straight to my head but this could be because it taste so great I couldn't stop sipping it.
What more can one ask for than spending a Sunday night with a tasty burger watching live entertainment. The service is great from the gorgeous waiters and the burgers are American diner-style with crispy fries and onion rings. The vibe is fun, cute and naughty and that theme is reflected in the menus, service and entertainment.
For a fun night out with bits of a Madame Zingara vibe this is a must visit location. Our team went there on a Thursday (which happens to be drag night) and it was loads of fun. The ladies were comfy because now the straight men felt they were being undressed instead. The humour on and off the stage was amazing.

Beefcakes Burger Bar is the latest pink import from the shores of sunny Cape Town and I for one am super excited it's here. To put it simply it's fabulous, the food is scrumptious, and their waiters and barmen are very very easy on the eye - it's a killer trifecta really! I love that their burgers come with a choice of patty (Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Ostrich or Vegetarian) at no extra cost as well as a choice of sides (French fries, spicy wedges or a side salad).
Awesome show, drag queen costumes need updating though, excellent service, handsome waiters, good food and music. Had a great birthday event.

Absolutely fabulous the entertainment was amazing the staff absolutely gorgeous and the food is to die for. Only down side the music could be a little softer and patrons can learn to sit that everyone can see but otherwise it is a blast
Ohhhh boy oh boy. From the beginning until the end.... You get service, now I mean seriously good service, the food, the vibe, the show...so much.... Daniel was our waiter and he sure did an excellent job on our huge table.. No one went home unsatisfied or grampy.

Always a blastđ€©đ€©đ€©. The show is just amazing and the food really good. For an entertaining evening out, this is a must visit.
Girls night out! So much fun. We did Friday nights Dinner Theatre. The Drag Show is interactive, glam, funny, sequinned spectacular fun! Dinner was burgers. Each and every lady that attended the evening had an absolute blast.
Can do this again!

A good laugh and a great spot for a burger and cocktail. Despite starting out as a gay bar, it's become over run by ladies celebrating everything from birthdays, marriage, divorce and anything in between.
What a wonderful show!! Friendly people and very entertaining! We had a really large group of women celebrating a batchelorette and everything wens smoothly! Waiters are great and the entertainment was spectacular!!! I heard a rumour that there will be another Beefcakes opening in Pretoria! If thats true then I will be there on the opening night!!! It was lovely. The atmosphere is super friendly, the show is pretty good. The Queen came to each table to greet us. Very intimate. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
You can't go to beefcakes without having a lot of fun. For a bachelorettes, it's perfectly suited & safe for a group of girls. The burgers are delicious & filling, and they cater for vegetarians. Overall, the evening is good value for money and a great experience.
