Awesome show, drag queen costumes need updating though, excellent service, handsome waiters, good food and music. Had a great birthday event.

It was a lovely experience. The service was above amazing, and the drag show was hilarious. It's a nice place to go with friends and celebrate special occasions.

Absolutely fabulous the entertainment was amazing the staff absolutely gorgeous and the food is to die for. Only down side the music could be a little softer and patrons can learn to sit that everyone can see but otherwise it is a blast

Ohhhh boy oh boy. From the beginning until the end.... You get service, now I mean seriously good service, the food, the vibe, the show...so much.... Daniel was our waiter and he sure did an excellent job on our huge table.. No one went home unsatisfied or grampy. Thanks so much for a night to remember. See you soon.

Girls night out! So much fun. We did Friday nights Dinner Theatre. The Drag Show is interactive, glam, funny, sequinned spectacular fun! Dinner was burgers. Each and every lady that attended the evening had an absolute blast. Can do this again!

Dan and everyone were so welcoming ! Open to all types of people ! Can get busy so be prepared for food and drinks to take a minute .

A good laugh and a great spot for a burger and cocktail. Despite starting out as a gay bar, it's become over run by ladies celebrating everything from birthdays, marriage, divorce and anything in between.

What a wonderful show!! Friendly people and very entertaining! We had a really large group of women celebrating a batchelorette and everything wens smoothly! Waiters are great and the entertainment was spectacular!!! I heard a rumour that there will be another Beefcakes opening in Pretoria! If thats true then I will be there on the opening night!!! It was lovely. The atmosphere is super friendly, the show is pretty good. The Queen came to each table to greet us. Very intimate. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

You can't go to beefcakes without having a lot of fun. For a bachelorettes, it's perfectly suited & safe for a group of girls. The burgers are delicious & filling, and they cater for vegetarians. Overall, the evening is good value for money and a great experience.

Very disappointed in beef cakes this time. I have been there 3 times already and love it. But this time I took my sister and her friends to celebrate her birthday. And got ripped off. When I got there I asked for the food bill (dinner &show) I paid the bill no problem with the 10% including. Giving the waiter R150 tip. We order a good amount of drinks bring our drinks bill to R2000 then when the bill came the food was added on again. I have paid deposit for food and the rest when I arrived when I said it must be taken off the bill the waiter (steven) said the manager not gonna print another bill he will just sub it from the bill and we must just pay the rest. No problem so we pay the bill, when my friend asks if the tip is included the waiter says no when 10% is clearly included. So she gave him R300 cash extra as I tip. When I confronted him about it as the tip on the bill was R300 included he told me tip was not included its the kitchen fee. What da fuck why do I pay for food then... will not come back again such a rip off��. R750 tip welldone. I was a waiter and yes I believe in giving a good tip but not lying and ripping ppl off..

We had my best friend Alex's bachelorette's party on Saturday night. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the entertainment was brilliant! We had a really, REALLY great evening!! Would recommend it to any of my friends.....

The show is really great however the food is a complete disappointment. For R250 set price per person you get a fabulous 30 minute drag show and a lousy burger, not even drinks. Not good value for money, old model of charging was better in my opinion.

Some of the best fun I had in a while.. But yes, a bigger venue will be ideal! As it will also make space for a dance floor :-)

This is my new home!<br/>My first time at beefcakes was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment I walked in I fell in love. It is the perfect spot for a girls night out. DO NOT BRING YOUR MAN HERE. The atmosphere and interior were electric. Friday night was build your own burger night which was a brilliant idea. The burgers were in house and were big, juicy and grilled to perfection. The show put on by Holly Diamond brought back an amazing nostalgia. Perfect mix of dinner and a show. What really steals your heart here are the Beefcake guys. The best hospitality I've ever recieved...by gorgeous, shirtless men. I will definitely be back!

With a group of friends, we went to Beefcakes for a cabaret show. While we waited for the show to start, we ordered some starters. I opted for the mini beef burgers (Baby Cakes - mini burgers with cheese, guacamole and mushroom sauce). Good tasting burgers and decided to order a bigger burger (Buffy the hamburger slayer - burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, avo and mushroom sauce). Good value for money and good tasting burgers! A definite must!

Came here for a bachelorette party wow i really enjoyed the night! The staff were really friendly and quite helpful at all times. <br/>This is not a food place so I would recommend eating before going and having drinks at Beefcake, our burger and fries platters were cold on arrival which was quite a downer!

Really great shows ruined by the atrocious food. Without the constant pull of bachelorette parties for the shows this place would have probably closed ages ago. What’s worse is they lock you in with a fixed price so you are forced to eat there too. Be better Beefcakes.

I had a fun evening at beefcakes. I thought the drag show was absolutely amazing. The food however was average I ordered the veg baby cakes and I found it very bland and tasteless and rather overpriced. The entertainment was the savior. It's a fun night out with your girls for dancing, a good laugh and some drinks.

Even though you may come here for the beefy cakes on display, the food at Beefcakes is actually good! I love that you have a choice of burger patty, including ostrich and vegetarian. The build your burger option isn't the best though, the caramelised onions look like they've barely met a hot griddle, and the cheddar cheese is as basic as a basic snitch.

Everything is just fantastic here. The atmosphere, the food, the entertainment, the music and the.... uhem scenery. 😜 the burgers are so good and they even have a healthy banting option for those who are so inclined. Really amazing experience.

This is such a fun venue!  Went there for a bacholerette's party, so the focus was definitely more on the 'entertainment'! And let's face the truth - you don't go to Beefcakes for the food ;) We had a choice of 3 burgers to choose from, and a big list of drinks!  The burger was okay, served with different condiments, it got a little bit cold because we got it was the drag show was starting, but at that stage you don't mind!

Let's be honest, the food is nice here but that's not why you go to Beefcakes. The entertainment and shows are the reason. That paired with great service and laughs that make your tummy sore from laughter, totally worth the visit. But don't get me wrong the food is tasty and mixed with all of the above its a memorable evening to keep you wanting more.

An awesome place.<br/>Had my sister in laws Bachelorette party there. The show with Drag queens were awesome. The food was good, however, it got cold by the time we ate as the show began after the food arrived. The atmosphere was great and all staff members were awesomely helpful.

It's a little underwhelming. The prices are expensive and a lot of expense if placed on you. It's always filled with brides to be and ladies. The show is good and the eye candy is amazing but don't get forced to get a body shot because they keep coming to you and it's like R300.

Aaah beefcakes. Drag shows, hot boys, and amazing food? This is the way to go. The burgers here are fantastic and paired with a good drag show, this is a really nice place. And the boys are topless (most of the time) so that's something to enjoy. Babs is right next door so beefcakes is out pre outing before dancing the night away. Think his name is Gary Griffin or something like that, gentle soul and really good! Service is a bit slow due to them always being full but none the less the experience is so much more ❤️

So after having to book 2 months in advance we arrived to be told we would be seated in the VIP area. We had a great evening. The dinner and a show work well. The way they do the food is definitely designed with speed and mass production in mind.<br/><br/>They give you a choice of beef, chicken and veggie burger. They place a tray with a selection of toppings on the table for you to create your own burger. Not the best burger I've had and you can tell they are after quantity and not the quality so much.<br/><br/>They had great service and did not have issues with brining out our own cake with cake fairs that we asked for them to add. <br/><br/>The show was great. I would recommend it to anyone. Just don't go there is its the best burger you want. I think they could do better and still do the pace and high numbers.

On Friday myself and 7 friends wanted to pop in, unplanned, to have dinner at Beefcakes Illovo. We were gladly helped to a table and ordered cocktails. We were then given our "menu placemats"...with one burger and option of veg, chicken or beef ...As I have planned a few Bachelorette Parties at Beefcakes restaurant, this is the set menu option you pay upfront for, as helps the kitchen with these large tables. We were told that NOW Friday and Saturdays we can only order from this "placemat menu" as it helps the kitchen on busy nights...We got up and left! If your kitchen cant handle the not very large regular menu on a busy night, consider opening a Bachelorette Party buffet bar instead! I wont be returning on the weekends, or hosting any further birthdays etc if this is the ONLY choice we have...coming to what you put on your placemats - Joburgs Best Burger Joint in 2014, Eat Out Mag. Its sad that your restaurant has fallen to the whim of the Bachelorette Party industry and the money it brings in and forgotten to be a restaurant in its essence. Beefcakes as become a glorified burger buffet joint!

We came here quite late on a Thursday night for a last drink or two before going home. Because we came so late the show(s) were obviously over so we didn't experience that part of Beefcakes. <br/><br/>Our waiter wasn't very interested in serving us and all the waiters were clumping together rather than serving the last bunch of tables. I ordered a bubblegum and my friend a lemon drop, we actually ended up swapping because the lemon drop was too sour for her and I didn't like the bubblegum as I'm sure they forgot to actually add bubblegum to it. The cocktails weren't great and neither was the service. Their focus is clearly the entertainment but if you're still open after the show, you should still be providing good service. <br/><br/>I haven't rushed back but I wouldn't be reluctant to go for a show as I've only heard good things about the shows.

I was dragged here for a friend's birthday and did not expect much, so wasn't actually that disappointed. It's very loud and stuffy, so not really my vibe. The service was slow because I guess they are more interested in entertaining than serving. <br/><br/>Maybe reconsider if you were thinking of coming here for your bachelorette or next girls night.

Very appealing waiters. Shirtless so fair warning guys (if you aren't comfortable with naked torsos then I'd advise you choose another place to go). The cocktails are amazing, lines at the bar can end up getting long so do get mentally prepared for it. Great place for a girls night out!

Came here with my dad one random night - it happened to be the "Drag Queen" show evening and damn it was just a fun, amazing evening! Burgers are a win too, but the chicken wraps are ooooh so tasty too!😍

What an experience! Besides the magnificent drag show, shirtless waiters and multitude of bachelorette parties around, the food was actually good. I had the chicken burger combo: chips were great and chicken was succulent. The variety of extra toppings were on point. Only burgers were on offer when I was there, but with the excitement of everything else going on during the evening, it's all you really need.

Lots of fun for bachelorettes, but the burgers are too dry and no unique flavours. The platter to share is decent with fried finger foods. If you looking for a good meal, eat somewhere else before coming!

If you have to decide between going to a show, or dining out, Beefcakes might be the place for you as you will get a bit of both.<br/><br/>Ambiance: The restaurant has a very stylish look, but the atmosphere does not stay the same as the evening goes on. I've heard about some concerns regarding Beefcakes from others. So to clarify that, it is not a gay club, it is not a stripclub, you do not have to dress like a drag. However, they have a drag on stage for a part of the evening and it is very entertaining.<br/><br/>Waiters: All male, and after the drag show they take off their shirts (only) and continue to serve you. They are merely topless, and not more - so no need to worry that your waiter will sit on your lap for the remainder of the evening. The very same waiters also offer body shots if you are interested.<br/><br/>Service: Good service. But they prefer to only take orders much later, to serve just before or during the show.<br/><br/>Menu: Mainly burgers, and they call themselves a burger bar. I cannot remember seeing any vegetarian options.<br/><br/>Price: If you consider the fact that you pay entrance, the burger prices are steep, also if you consider what you get.<br/><br/>Food: The burgers are very average. As I said in the beginning, you are more likely to end up here for the experience and not for the best burgers in town.<br/><br/>Drinks: They offer a large variety of cocktails and mocktails.

Fun night out with a group of girls for a bacherlorette party, the food was super. Ends up being a pricey evening with the cover charge etc and don't think I would go back unless it was with a big group for a celebration

I'm not the biggest fan of burgers but they are good. Way too loud in the evenings. Waiters are attentive but slow. Don't love the seating situation. People sit a bit too close for comfort.

A pink cocktail is a must ! The food was as juicy as some of the bodies on the floor 👏🏻 the burgers were really delicious. The show was a lot of fun and we thoroughly enjoyed every second of our time here.

Atmosphere is pink pink pink!! groovy vibe... Cocktails are standard. Show is hopefully worth the wait.... Eye candy is a treat for the eye.

Very interesting night out for a friend's bachelorettes. The burgers however are absolutely fantastic. The show is something to experience, fun and frivolous with lots of laughs.

Have always wanted to try out beef cakes and never really got an opportunity until last weekend. My cousins bridal shower was here.. This place is overrated in my opinion. The entertainment is ok nothing spectacular ... The food is below average we had a set menu: burgers and fries. I had the veg burger which was dry and tasteless. I had a strawberry daiquiri which was luke warm rather then frozen. Doubt I will rush back

This was the perfect place for a bachelorette and the night was full of entertainment and ladies giggling like naughty girls. The topless guys was a great hit for the girls

I was invited to a show and loved it!! The "gals" were entertaining and their line up was great. I had a burger which is really tasty however a little on the expensive side. Wine is also pricy. The waiters have manners and look great!

Definitely great eye candy but if you are looking for good food and good service, then don't go here. I ordered the veg burger and my mouth was parched because there was so much salt in it. I told the manager and his response was "no I think it's just you, other people love our burgers". Found that the show "tried too hard" with the jokes. Definitely not my cup of tea. And definitely won't be going there for food

I have only been here but but it was such an epic night. My friends and I enjoyed the bitchy bingo :) It was a lot of fun. The burgers are huge but absolutely delicious.

My high rating is definitely due to the awesome atmosphere! Very fun and entertaining, nothing similar in JHB. Had the Poppers and Beefcakes burger, both fine. But the show was the major attraction!

I visited Beefcakes on a Tuesday night for bitchy bingo and was pleasantly surprised by the food. Tuesday night was very quiet so I would recommend rather going on a Thursday night onwards as the atmosphere was a little flat.I tried the non alcoholic Shirley temple which was very sweet but not to my liking. The mojito was average. My friend ordered a 500ml bottle of water and was given a 1.5l bottle by another waiter.I had a FAB chicken burger with avocado, feta, pineapple (swopped out with bacon) with a chive and peppadew relish and warm mustard sauce. This burger was seriously delicious and much better than the other burger places around. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the flavours worked well. I also love the chips here which are really good.I tried the jalapeno poppers - the batter wasn't nice, a little soggy.The show started at 8:40 and was done by 9:30. Service was okay, nothing special.Something to bear in mind is that the R80 cover charge is added to your bill and is a little unfair to pay a tip on that as well. Its a great place to go out with the girls.

Beefcakes is the perfect venue to entertain an out of town visitor both for its food and eye candy. <br/>I have to admit we did get there quite late and the restaurant was rather quiet. <br/>That was more than made up by the warm reception and excellent service from our delicious waiter Shane who was really attentive <br/><br/>This time around I had the healthy option of 3 mini beef burger patties sans the bun. The burgers were absolutely delicious... Perfectly cooked, tasty and juicy. <br/><br/>I really think they need to relook the veggie burger recipe as it isn't great. ( tastes stodgy) <br/><br/>That said the nachos is a better option for a vegetarian. <br/>My other friend also enjoyed his beef burger with all the trimmings claiming it to be delectable. <br/>I'd go back for the beef burgers and obviously the show which we missed.

Thought we'd give Beefcakes a test drive. Very enjoyable evening, burgers are really reasonable and delicious. It was Dancing Divas last night and we enjoyed a very funny drag queen. Wouldn't frequent regularly as better suited to a bachelorette but fun nonetheless.

Had a fantastic 21st Birthday Celebration at Beefcakes Illovo - staff went to a lot of effort to ensure  that our whole function went off smoothly - show was mindblowing, food was amazing and service was very good considering how busy they were. Thank you for a memorable event...

Let's be honest, no one goes to Beefcakes for the food but if it's delectable cocktails and hunky waiters you're after then this is definitely the place to be. Throw in a few fabulous drag queens and Beefcakes makes for a fun girls' night out. Oh and the burgers aren't half bad either.

If you are into topless waiters and having a laugh with the girls then this would be the place to go. It is the type of place you have to try out once and then don't ever have to go to again. <br/><br/>The food is average- nothing to rave about, I think it is actually way too expensive for what you are getting. <br/><br/>I have been on bingo night which can be quite enjoyable. I love this place and have been on numerous occasions. The vibe is fantastic and fun however this is not the place you go to experience the food. On one occasion the food was not fresh and made my boyfriend (who has a stomach of steel) sick. The waiters are friendly but have a bad habit of disappearing or forgetting your order and for some reason refuse to serve you tap water. I must commend the Master of Ceremonies as well as the Queens. Their shows are spectacular and despite the food and service you will always leave with a smile on your face.

Beefcakes is a fun night out when looking for a novel location for a girls night. Personally I'm not a fan of the half naked waiters stripping and dancing for your tips but you know what you're in for the minute you step in the door. <br/><br/>The decor is kitch but quite cool with stereotypical pink flamingos everywhere as well as fun little party props and disco balls. <br/><br/>As for the food, it's not bad. It's not exceptional either though, especially for the price. You can get a decent burger and cute little sliders which are always fun

Fun night out. Seems to be the spot for bachelorette nights! Guys are cute to look at, the entertainment is brilliant. Food is what it is, the service is good and the staff are always friendly and more than accommodating in making sure that you have a wonderful evening *hint hint : body shots.

Beefcakes are famous for a few things: hot topless male waiters, fabulous drag queens and lots of hen's parties. <br/><br/>It's a treat for a girls night every couple of months. Besides being able to take body shots off of the hot waiter of your choice, their food menu is equally enticing. <br/><br/>I recommend the veggie burger and its accompanying chips (cos I love carbs, obvs) as well as the nachos. If you are not a drag, or maybe you are, and you are game for Dinner and a Show, then this is a fabulous choice. Entertainment at its best, be entertained by the Drag Queens that put on a show or the Beefy Topless Boys that serve your meals.<br/><br/>Basically it's all about the burgers. But at the end of the day, it is only a burger and for a burger to be a hit, it's got to be pretty amazing and different.<br/><br/>Burgers are somewhat pricey and more on the expensive side. But you are definitely paying for the entire experience and the pink Miami styled 80's Burger Bar with Flamingo wallpaper. <br/><br/>If you are planning on having drinks you best have some spare cash. Cocktails are amazing yet pricey, but STRONG. Thus it sort of evens out in my eyes. <br/><br/>If you are a wine drinker, this is not a place where you are going to get an endless list of bottles to choose from. Arrived here on one of the coldest week-ends in Joburg. <br/>Ordered a True Blood and to my disappointment it was sour and didn't really taste like much and was pale<br/>Pink in color.<br/>The show even more disappointing I expected much more. The group was called Menopause.<br/>The burgers we were served were delicious. Our waiter polite and of course served us shirtless after the show.<br/>The total bill was more than the same night out at Tease-Hers, so really overpriced. <br/>

Most people may not head to Beefcakes for the food but their chicken burgers are ridiculously good. One of rhe best places to go for a laugh and girls night. Does not allow for a single dull moment!

Has got to be one of the best bachelorettes I have ever been. We had so much fun and the waiters are amazing (and way too good looking). The show is not to be missed. The food is okay - good for just a snack but it's an average meal - good to line the stomach for an evening of cocktails.

Not the same Beef Cakes if you know the Cape Town one, but still the same style.  Great for a ladies night.  Their burgers are great and their portions are huge.  If you and the girls are into a bit more than a delicious cocktail - the waiters also do body shots.  The live drag shows are a must.  Bitchy Bingo is really bitchy (and fun!).

They claim to be the best burgers in joburg so I was expecting it to be as such but I was disappointed. Burgers were gourmet. I had a beef patty and that itself was ok and nothing to rave about. I wad out on a girl's night and there was a show wish we had to pay R80 for in addition to our food and drinks. Service was good. Waiters are mostly guys with good bodies.

This place is definitely more about the party than the food. The decor eludes to the 80s in Miami - pink flamingos, neon lighting. It's has a very festive vibe. I would recommend it as a starting point for a crazy-fun bachelorette night.

I had a great time at Beefcakes recently for a private function. The food was great, the portions were huge and the 'bitchy bingo' was hilarious. It would probably be a fantastic night out for the girls :)

My oh my! What an experience!!! I've been there on two occasions now, and both times were just fab!! Such a fun place with a killer vibe, hilarious entertainment and pretty boys to serve you, what could be better!! The food is also pretty yummy, and the drinks always cold!! What an experience ! Definitely one for those that are open to new things . Burgers were delicious and was an overall entertaining experience .

This is definitely a spot you go if you are looking for a relaxed, fun night out with the girls ... The Friday night we were there it was mostly boys! Young topless waiters who are attentive (I think I just smirked :)), a cabaret show and good food (we had cheese popper starters which were huge and spicey and very, very good nachos) - hamburgers were good - quite pricey on the drinks menu R49 !! For a Cosmo - all added to an atmosphere of pink flamingos & loads of laughs. Not a place for serious conversation or a romantic evening out but definitely worth a visit !

Beefcakes is the go-to place for Bachelorette parties & ladies 'Book' Clubs, and as such it was one of these that I was invited to. A Miami south beach decor with lots of pink flamingos. Plenty of fun shooters, Naughtily named girly cocktails and bubbly seemed to be the order of the night -- and for R300 you can even drink a body shot off your selected beefy barman. <br/><br/>This place seems to be all about the party and drinks, so they keep it simple when it comes to the food. There are the American Style Hamburgers where you can select one with toppings straight off the menu or make your own using the following pointers: <br/><br/>1. Choose your meat (ostrich, beef, chicken, vegetarian), <br/>2. Choose how you would like it cooked. <br/>And 3. Choose your side of french fries or a salad. <br/><br/>*Recommendation: If this is your style of party for a celebration, you will thoroughly enjoy it!

A real experience for those who are REALLY open minded to a new and unique experience! The food is great but the shows are even better! A true dinner-theatre experience for anyone who loves live cabaret shows and great burgers. Only come if you aren't homophobic and love foods burgers

What can I say? Nice burgers and nice scantily dressed boys. Service is always with a smile. Always some kind of entertainment around also. Always a hoot! Pop in to the club next door for after-dinner fun.

Great entertainment of course!! :) The food though for the price you pay isn't really worth it, the portions are tiny and there was nothing that set the food apart from a normal chain restaurant.

Celebrated my birthday here in 2013. I must say after all the hype around their calendar etc i was highly disappointed in their "beef" and "buns" but their burgers were pretty good - having a chilli vodka burger was definitely something different? Service wasnt too good our waiter took our order to another table and after a few minutes he gently picked it up and brought it to our table as if nothing was wrong and he was not very attentive. Entertainment was fantastic and good atmosphere. Just need to work on their "beef" offerings

Absolutely amazing. <br/>The waiters were on point, both with regards to orders and time, and physically (shew!). <br/>Everyone was absolutely friendly and professional and I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about it all. The food was excellent, the drinks are delish! <br/>The managers will also cater to your every need (maybe not every.. :P) but wow. Definitely going again and again and again!

Beefcakes appears to be the location for every bachelorette party going - why I cannot say. I think this is one of the saddest establishments going. The tacky pink flamingo decor and topless waiters (don't get excited, the offerings won't be appearing on the cover of Men's Health any time soon) are highly overrated. The food was completely average, the booze is on the expensive side and the show is mediocre at best. I think there are far nicer spots for a girls get together.

Absolute must visit !! The burgers and cocktails are fantastic ! Service and entertainment even better. Book a table cause it's always busy. Great place to go with a fun night out with the girls.

Blog team member recently enjoyed a night out at Beefcakes Burger Bar in Illovo. <br/><br/><br/><br/>It’s a friendly, fun place with frivolous entertainment, an awesome selection of cocktails and the burger was absolutely delicious! On the menu for this particular team member, was Buffy The Hamburger Slayer and it was just that. A beast of a burger with bacon, mature cheddar cheese, caramelised onion, avocado and a creamy mushroom sauce. Weighing in at a hefty R95 – it was worth every cent. We were amazed by the array of toppings available for the burgers and the waiters with no toppings – definite eye candy for the evening out.

This is a fun place to be shared with anyone! <br/>I went there with some girlfriends for a girls night - Bitchy Bingo! And what fun we had! Entertainment was good and so was the food.<br/>I had a the Gourmet burger with ostrich patty.

My sister and I went to Beefcakes as we hadn't been before and we thought we would try it out! Firstly, after making my booking, I received a reminder sms of my booking- which was great. I love service like that! Although the restaurant was very quiet, we had such a great time. Our waiter was awesome and very friendly. The food is really really delicious- the portions are huge and super tasty. We had such a fun time and can't wait to go back.

Tonight my friends and I went to go check it out because we had heard of it but wow we were not prepared for what actually happened. DRAMA! FOOD! BOYS! SEXY ABS.... The atmosphere is amazing what a great experience even for those who are not gay!

For a fabulous, camp night out, look no further than this burger hangout in Illovo. Food is delicious and they have entertainment most nights - it's a gay owned restaurant and it welcomes all - it is a good place to hangout with friends and become very popular for bachelorette parties - the waiters are all very friendly and yummy to look at and the service is impeccable. Booking is 100% essential.

This place is super fun! Be sure to book before you go, or go early to snab a table. The service is good - quick, efficient, and good looking :D very friendly too.<br/><br/>The food is delicious! Some of the best burgers I've ever had. The menu is quite fun too - especially the drinks menu. Some very witty cocktail twists.<br/><br/>If you're going, be prepared for the drag show. Quite fun and not too risque. It's mostly singing though - maybe in the future we could have some comedy too?<br/><br/>Be prepared for gaggles of girls. For some reason Beefcakes is one of the venues for a girls night out or bachelorette party. They live squealing during the drag show.

The night didn't start off too well but eventually the staff made up for the bad start. We made a reservation two weeks before visiting the restaurant and upon our arrival there was no table allocated to us even after I'd called to confirm our booking. The guy we spoke to, Michael, was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience and arranged a table for us. While we had to wait forever to get out drinks orders taken, the performance in the background kept us quite preoccupied. <br/><br/>The food wasn't as great as I'd hoped. The burgers seemed as though they were home made, and didn't resemble those of a burger bar -however I did appreciate the mixture of herbs used in their beef burgers. <br/><br/>Overall, we ended up having a good night which is mostly attributable to the drag performance.<br/><br/>I do believe that the restaurant staff need to communicate with each other especially about reservations as it's a tad annoying to have to wait while they check whether a reservation was made or not. Would definitely consider going back, although that might not be anytime soon.

If you’re from Cape Town like me, you’ve probably heard of Beefcakes and my interest was piqued when I heard they’re opening up shop in Jozi. For no good reason, I’ve never been so I was delighted when they invited Laurice Taitz and I to try them out this week.<br/><br/>I promise, you’ve not had a dining experience like this…<br/><br/>We got straight down to drinks, I had the Shirley Temple (on the right), off the rehab (non alcoholic) menu - super yummy<br/><br/>The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the decor. Think pink & white. Flamingos, feather boas, & glitter hats. Now picture all of that everywhere!<br/><br/>This burger joint has sass. The way it works is that you choose your meat (chicken, lamb, ostrich, beef or veggie) followed by your choice of toppings (there are some yummy preset combos or your can build yours from scratch) and then you choose your side. I had the veggie burger with the gourmet topping (camembert with cranberry jelly & rocket) with skinny fries.<br/><br/>The starter options were all of my favourites: nachos, deep battered fried onion rings a jalapeno poppers. How to choose? Well you don’t have to, they have a nibbly bits starter that combines all 3 – pure genius & everything on the plate was really good!<br/><br/>The entertainment for the night was Bitchy Bingo – my 1st time & heaps of fun! And don’t worry, it’s not really bitchy at all. There are prizes so make sure you listen up, the game moves fast!<br/><br/>My veggie burger was fine (veggie burgers can be so tricky, I’ve had many bad ones & oh, I’m not vegetarian, I just love a good veggie burger) and the toppings really made it for me. I abandoned the cutlery & jumped right in with my hands & had the cranberry running down my fingers when I was done! Totally unnecessary but we decided to share the chocolate brownies with ice cream for dessert (called “Happy Endings!”). I prefer mine gooier (that’s actually a word, I googled it) but I liked that theirs came topped with (unexpected) nuts (walnuts I think).<br/><br/>If burgers aren’t your thing (what’s wrong with you?!) there’s also a selection of salads, wraps & quesadillas, so fret not there are plenty of options. I liked the “celebration menu” for bigger groups where the table gets nibbly bits platters to share & everyone can order a burger of their choice for R130 pp. No more painful math to split the bill. The good is not good value for money and I have had an upset stomach the day after the last two times I have eaten there. <br/>The vibe is however good and have always enjoyed myself there

This is a great place if you're looking for something different - particularly for the ladies. Loved the glittered up American diner look with flamingo wallpaper. The food wasn't bad - quite liked the variety in burgers. The F.A.B. burger that I had was mouthwatering (I love avo and feta). The show was..... well not exactly Broadway, but for R75 it was good entertainment. Thought it could've used better corriography though given that they were lip-singing to the original music. but the host was one of the funiest comedians I've heard in a while. The staff are incredibly friendly and HOT (particularly when they take off their shirts). it's great fun trying to guess who's gay or not. Overall great night out.

Loved the entertainment And the service. I had a beach boy burger which was tasty but lacked seasoning and character. Not to mention my wedges were still cold in the middle, tasted a bit like frozen wedges (not to my liking). Cocktails were done nicely and tasted yummy, but couldn't taste the alcohol so well in any of them except the cosmo. Other than the food being a bit of a let-down, Had a decent time.

In love with the staff and all the kitsch 1950's look-flamingos and bubblegum boys everywhere And I loved the burgers. In fact my friend and I each ordered the three mini's each and shared. So I got to taste 6 flavors or awesome. What a treat, what a treasure! I can't wait to go back

I visited Beefcakes with a friend, but not on one of their show days, hence no R60 cover charge; and wasn't particularly impressed with the menu. I know it's a burger joint, but if you can't eat the main option, surely they ought to have nicer alternates. The rest of the items on the menu were expensive, we ended up having nachos, which I found average. For drinks, I tried the Shirley Temple virgin cocktail - I liked the flavour and enjoyed it! I noticed the couch style seating to be very filthy, and almost every single couch (that I saw), was full of stains! Gross. Won't be returning here.

Great for a girls night - entertainment was fabulous as was the service. We all had burgers and none of us had any complaints at all other than the price (it's a little on the expensive side- so not for a weekly affair). I had the Gourmet burger (camembert and cranberry jelly) which was absolutely Yummy. The cocktails were also really tasty. Overall a fantastic experience, I would definitely visit Beefcakes again with my girls. The Pink Tea cocktail is so so delicious - it went straight to my head but this could be because it taste so great I couldn't stop sipping it.

I went to beefcakes for a bachelorette recently. The vibe was awesome and everyone played their part to make it an unforgettable evening for the bride to be. Entertainment and staff were great and we had a lot of fun. The cover charge and food is expensive. Most of the group raved about the burgers, my choice, the magic mushroom was a little disappointing.

What more can one ask for than spending a Sunday night with a tasty burger watching live entertainment. The service is great from the gorgeous waiters and the burgers are American diner-style with crispy fries and onion rings. The vibe is fun, cute and naughty and that theme is reflected in the menus, service and entertainment.

For a fun night out with bits of a Madame Zingara vibe this is a must visit location. Our team went there on a Thursday (which happens to be drag night) and it was loads of fun. The ladies were comfy because now the straight men felt they were being undressed instead. The humour on and off the stage was amazing. <br/><br/>Yes indeed some yummy waiters but alas not on the straight side ladies. Tho I'm led to believe the bar men are. <br/><br/>The starter platter is a must. The nachos poppers and onion rings were great and full of flavour. The burgers were not enjoyed much (definitely not the best burgers in town). <br/><br/>There were many bachelorette parties and birthdays happening. So fun for any and all. <br/><br/>I think they can add more character to their waiters tho. Or ours was just drab. Who knows. Overall a good experience and fun was had all round.

Beefcakes Burger Bar is the latest pink import from the shores of sunny Cape Town and I for one am super excited it's here. To put it simply it's fabulous, the food is scrumptious, and their waiters and barmen are very very easy on the eye - it's a killer trifecta really! I love that their burgers come with a choice of patty (Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Ostrich or Vegetarian) at no extra cost as well as a choice of sides (French fries, spicy wedges or a side salad).

Pros: <br/>Great vibe, festive atmosphere with music, entertainment. All burgers (except veggie) went down well. Good range of cocktails - although being a gay bar, I was told they only serve pink cocktails, and blue ones are my favorite. Cocktail prices leaning towards the expensive side.<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>The veggie burger was a disappointment - the "pattie" was more slop than anything solid. The side salad I opted for with my burger looked rather limp. For large parties, if you want to bring your own cake for a birthday, they charge you R100 for that. They also add the cover charges - like R60 for "Bitchy Bingo" onto the bill and then add the 10% service charge - which is a bit of a sneaky rip off in my opinion. The Chili Poppers were also rather disappointing.<br/><br/>All in all, as a fun night out with friends, not a bad evening out. Very loud, so conversation is a bit tough. Not suitable for an intimate evening.<br/>
