It was such a pleasure being at Breezeblock cafe, the coffee was good, breakfast really great and the place was buzzing with good people!

Mantis and the team at Breezeblock are phenomenal. I recently held a party at the venue, their warmth and professionalism was above and beyond. From welcome drinks and canapes, to keeping their kitchens open for our guests, the food and drinks were really great. The space was inviting and so many guests complimented the feel of it. I would highly recommend reaching out to this venue to anyone wanting to host an event. I'd give 10 stars if I could.

What a delightful gem to have been introduced to today. Under clear blue winter skies tucked into a corner inside where sun could reach us, we dined on beautifully presented simple fare. I had cold pressed fruit juice and their coffee later. Both wonderful. The food was a sandwich (2 open slices of Rye) topped with avocado and grilled halloumi. They provided home made mayonnaise (delicious - if not as tangy as bought) which I found complemented the accompanying potato wedges as well! To be tucked away in a side street of Brixton, wonderful atmosphere and surroundings, I am definitely back there any time an opportunity arises. I have to say well done! 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻‼😃

Went here for breakfast and had a lovely time. The place is a little oasis in a residential area. Lovely interiors, large window facade and nicely decorated patio to enjoy a breakfast or lunch. The coffee was decent and was served quickly and with a friendly smile. We opted for 'Eggs Mirza', a Mediterranean style poached eggs dish, which was tasty and was the right quantity. I ordered a wakey wakey smoothie, which was definitely a meal on its own. Taste was nice and creamy, but thickness made it hard to finish the smoothie in combination with the other orders. All in all a very nice experience and definitely recommend it!

It was my second time going there and unfortunately on both times I haven't tasted the food. However, the atmosphere and decor is lovely. Lovely visual asthetics.

I just had an amazing breakfast here. I arrived feeling depleted and exhausted after working late and having a crazy morning. Now I feel energized and invigorated after enjoying delicious coffee, juice and a fresh lovely meal. The setting is tranquil and calming, with beautiful succulent plants and a lovely water feature. It's my second time here but the first time was for quite a hectic meeting so I didn't get to appreciate how peaceful and soothing this environment can me. I am really grateful that my dish came with one of my favorite herbs, coriander, and my carrot juice had the perfect amount of ginger. I didn't plan to come here but needed to drop off a hard drive with a colleague who was working from here and I decided to treat myself. The experience has been so good that I think I need to do this at least once a week. 5 stars for service, food and atmosphere. Can't wait to come back.

This was my first experience at Breezeblock Café and it was definitely a welcoming one. If you looking for a small quaint and relaxing environment to read a book, take some time out or just sit in the sun, this place is for you. Service is on point and prices are what you'd expect. Even me being a visitor to Johannesburg from Port Elizabeth, it wasn't such a big surprise. Food is worth the price and wait. But that being said, waiting time isn't at all longer than any other food eatery. Good vibes and good times.

Such a lovely joint with a great ambiance. Delicious food that is vegan friendly, creative interesting menu, lovely place to sit and talk. It's also easy on the pocket❤. I had The Dense green Salad and cappuccino with Soy milk😋. It's worth visiting again.

I’ve known about the Breezeblock Cafe for years. It’s a warm, quirky, ‘hood coffee shop. Styled with a mid century modern look. Could be back the 1970’s. With Free Wifi. Large windows, Friendly people. I’d forgotten just how good it is to look south, instead of north. For lovely coffices

Such a lovely place to spend a weekend morning with friends, sitting in the warm, sunny courtyard amongst all the succulents. The staff is super friendly and attentive, the food is fresh, homey and delicious, so well-priced and served in quaint dishes reminiscent of Sunday lunches at your Gran's. While you mull over the menu, you're brought a pitcher of water without even having to ask. So chuffed to have this gem in the neighbourhood.

So lovely to have a great spot I can walk to. Packed for breakfast yesterday. Atmosphere remained warm and friendly despite coffee machine and kitchen being under pressure. Will make it my weekly treat.

Fantastic place to have lunch or sit and work. Good service, fantastic organic and home made food, beautiful architecture and interior, nice and cosy, light, a spacious garden with fish and possible to sit in the shadow. Love it.

Such a lovely atmosphere with unique decor and a menu which has both old favourites and some fresh ideas (plus loads of veg options). A sunny courtyard and welcoming staff make this a place I'd go back to as often as possible. Why frequent a tired old franchise cafe when you can try something this delightful?

Best cafe design in Joburg. And great coffee. And charming owner. Can't lose really.
Lucy Draper-Clarke
The most beautiful neighborhood cafe I've seen in a while. This will become a regular spot for me.

Amazing space. Great (mostly natural) light. A well thought out aesthetic. Good menu & attentive staff. Spacious venue. Price wise there's a little something to fit everyone's pocket. Wifi available.

A little 60's haven with easy food, a lay back atmosphere in a quiet suburb! It's as if time has stood still. Take a book, chill and relax - away from the noise of life!

Gorgeous foods, but small portions for the price you pay. Quirky 70s retro themed space in an unexpected location. A little gift shop to compliment the space, with a cool courtyard area outside for eating and working!

Small gem tucked in the heart of the street , great place if you want to get away or get some work done . The drinks are accompanied with the best biscuit I have ever had . The food is decent

WWe decided to drop in here after a morning outing had gone wrong and we had decided to ditch it in favor of brunch...

My friends had the pancakes in the different varieties offered. All were enjoyed ( i did not sample as i am trying to watch my figure)

I did have the most glorious and fulfilling nicoise salad...

Really lovely deco... pleasant and polite staff... definitely will go back sometime... do visit it if you do

Tucked in away in the heart of Brixton. A gem I must say. Interior of mid century mixed with urbanism creates a unique setting. Amongst the beautiful scapes of breeze blocks to ogle over. Their buttermilk bread to die for.

Great vibe! Excellent food!! Had a relaxing Saturday lunch in the sun. The menu has a great variety. And we love the idea of cycling lessons being offered for adults!

I've been through Breezeblock a number of times since it opened, and it keeps improving as they work out all the little kinks. The waiters are still finding their feet, but getting better every day, and the food has been exceptional every time I've been.

Try to green lunch salad, can't remember what it's called, but it is sublime.

What a surprise finding this beautiful cafe tucked away in brixton. The decor is very cool. Keke's Service was excellent. The portions are big. The prices are good. Beautiful courtyard

I never do reviews, but this place is so great! The food is delicious and affordable, the space is light and airy and quite simply beautiful. The waitstaff are very eager to please too, if a little diffident. Try the huevos rancheros for breakfast - it is sublime. And the speculaas pancake. And the freshly pressed juice, or coffee. It's all lovely. And now they have wifi - it is a lovely place to work. I really hope it gets lots of support and becomes a neighbourhood institution. Go, you won't regret it.

This is a really cool trendy place. Loved the retro decor. The name was proving difficult for me to remember - the alliteration maybe - until my sister pointed out the breeze blocks used on the outside walls (bricks with holes). Very 70s.
The place is very new as apparently are the waiters. They were very diffident and need to get more confident.
The food was good although it took a little while to get to the table.
My sister found a hair on her eggs. She told the waiter, who took them away. The owner came to apologize. He brought her a fresh plate and offered her a coffee on the house.
My oats were creamy and delicious. And the portion was a perfect size. Unlike like those ridiculously enormous portions usually dished up.
I'll give this place a few weeks and I'll be back. Place holds lots of promise!

Brixton is an incredible little community and the Breezeblock cafe is quickly becoming part of it's fabric. The coffee is good, the food is affordable and delicious. You will often find some of the locals grabbing a Cortado and working in a sunny spot. The wakey wakey smoothie is great and you can't go wrong with the simple scrambled eggs and buttermilk toast. Personally I love the V sandwich for lunch.

Like Brixton, the Breeze Block is much about the people as it is the space, and that's exactly what makes it special.

All the breakfast dishes we tried were delicious. The decor is a treat. The restaurant, and even the outside area feel like the owner has poured his soul into making something special.

Great to see gentrification reaching Brixton. Breezeblock is an impeccably decorated space, with a distinctive menu to match. Some teething issues around the speed and quality of service, but these should work through quite quickly.
Hokeem
A hidden gem in the heart of Brixton. The food was tasty and affordable, but it was clear that the waiters were still very inexperienced. There was ample parking and the decor was very pleasant. The whole restaurant is very airy and open, and is the perfect place to have some breakfast while soaking up the winter sun.

We went there for lunch. The food absolutely amazing. -very fresh and tasty. The cafe is filled with natural light and there is a large courtyard with tables and benches.
