As per all roco mammas, the food was generally good. It arrived pretty fast (ubereats) and all our instructions were followed correctly. The burgers are generally small for the price but they're decent. We LOVE the cheese bombs, cheesy fries and Nutella and banana waffle! Highly recommend
Whilst the atmosphere was really laid back and fun, it was quite hard to have a conversation with my group because it was sort of loud. This did not take away from the quality of the food. I took a medium portion of cheesy fries and it was more than enough to share with my friend. The burger was fantastic and so was my drink. The service was really great and our waiter was extremely friendly. We drove all the way from Cape Town to get there, because this was, at the time, the only halal RM. Absolutely no regrets

I couldn’t wait to try this branch as there are no halal Rocomamas in Cape Town so we had dinner at Melrose Arch the one evening and tried the chicken burger as well as the loaded cheese fries.
In my opinion, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had and the fries were delicious too.The staff are friendly and polite, we were well looked after that evening so my overall experience was great..would highly recommend a visit to this branch!

The vibe is funky and informal, which creates quite a pleasant atmosphere.
The burgers live up to the hype but didn't "blow my socks off". The drinks were cold, the chips tasty and the service quite good.

Seeing it's halaal, it's the only one I can eat at and I have never been disappointed. I am a regular once a month at least, the staff know me well and I always treat me well. Food is always perfect! My favourite burger joint without question!
You can find delicious hamburgers in this restaurant. The service is quick and portions are big enough. There are aldo steak and other selections in the menu.

This branch of Roco Mamas, had gotten it's Halaal certification some, what 10-11 months now...AND I FINALLY GOT TO GO SEE WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT.
I did postpone going earlier, as I read reviews about wait time to be seated, so I allowed all the hype to cool down a bit. And I have not regretted waiting. Being a late Sunday afternoon that I popped by, The store was still abuzz like they had just opened. My Betterhalf and I waited a little while for seats, and managed to get a corner table on the inside.
The atmosphere in the store was vibrant, with smart hangdown lighting that complemented the store colour palette perfectly. It was a blessing to have the fine water spray outdoors to help cool down the outdoor spaces, as we had a scorcher of a day on the Highveld. Noise levels can become a bit bothersome, with the mix of loud music and everyone talking at the same time.
The food did not disappoint. APART from a slightly stale burger bun, I can still say, we thoroughly ENJOYED our experience.
The Ordering system is cool, where you don't have a waiter/ess hanging over you to take your order, you are needed to tick off your orders on a paper menu, that gets collected by a waiter/ess . Fear not..the waiters are excellent in being able to help you decide and their knowledge of the items available in their menu is great, shout out to waitress Catherine for an amazing job👌.
Another great feature with Roco Mamas, is that you can also make up your own version of a burger, if you don't like what's already on offer, and every smash burger comes in a Beef, Chicken or Veg options.
So I had choosen the classic cheese beef burger, I think this needed a little more of kick with some other accompanying sauce blend with the regular mayo, as it was a little on the dry side, but the beef patties were done perfectly and were juicy. On the side I had the cheese fries (YUMMY), whilst my Hubby had a chillie cheese fries (YUM YUMM) , to go with his chilli cheese bomb beef burger, which looked amazing. All thumbs up from him. If You are not Hungry, DO opt for a small sized cheese/chilly cheese fries, as the medium portion we ordered was quite large. These turbo charged fries won't dissapoint, as the cheese sauce was liberally slathered onto the fries. We did also order a classico nachos, which was jam-packed with salsa, sour cream and guacamole, But The corn chips had been slightly over baked.
For drinks we opted to get the Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri and the Teopical Blue Lemonade
An overall awesome experience, that brought back memories of similar experiences we had been used to in the middle east. About time South Africa got some exciting stores like Roco Mamas and HALAAL at that🎉🎉🎉.
Though this 1st visit had a couple boo boos..I MOST DEFINITELY will return to this store. Their Freak Shakes and Waffles have my name written on them..but that I would leave for another CHEAT DAY😉.

Great food , the wings are just the best ever! Never been disappointed , the setting is just amazing been at the heart of Melrose arch. The peanut butter shake is just something else and a must have .
Second time eating here. Good burgers, heavenly milkshakes. Cheesy chips always a hit with family. Really cheesy compared to Pizza Hut. Burgers always fresh and tasty. Pity about the attitude of waitress. Asked for water...got a glass of hot water. When asked for ice, she rolled her eyes and said ice is finish. When she left, we asked another waiter and he brought us a glass full of ice. Overall food was great, service I think in general can be improved. We got there early on a Saturday evening (5:30pm) so no waiting for a table.
I usually do order the wings(as a side) and burgers from here, I'm not a fan of the fries. The breakfast burgers are exceptionally tasty. My only real issue would be value for money, as I feel the burgers are a bit overpriced. The service is quite good, even though it gets quite packed on weekends.
I liked the range of customizable burgers. Really cool if you have picky eaters with you (kids!). It was a bit crowded around 6pm on Saturday though.

Went to this Rocomamas due to it being Halaal and I was accompanied by a Muslim friend.
The service was very good! We were welcomed immediately and seated outside. Our waiter was very friendly and quick.
The food was good as always! Rocomamas has definitely become my first choice when it comes to burgers.

I'm always, always looking for a good burger. Totally love the fact the burger is freshly made, in-store (as told by the very friendly owner). Also the fact that you can build your own according to your preferred taste. Chilli cheese fries are great too even tho i was sceptical to try them. Just give it a go! Its worth it.
Their burgers are very flavoursome, rolls nice and fresh and the chips portions unusually large , all I all a great burger place with a nice selection of burgers, they also have some decadent desserts and milkshakes

Been waiting ages to try Rocos. Queues are long as it's the only halal branch in Joburg. I'm not a fan, I didnt like the burger (had the Mushroom one) nor the cheesy fries. but I know many many people who enjoyed it and have been back a few times. Service was good if you take into account how many people they are dealing with at once. But it's quite a wait for food. This all also depends on what time you go there. Not sure if I'm allowed to say this here but I prefer Burgerack! 😂

One of my favourite burger joints, never dissapoints no matter which one you go to. Melrose rocxomamas is just the same, great food and great service. If your in the mood for a burger try it out. You will be back time and time again.
This burger joint is exceptionally busy so book your table in advance should you wish to have a sit-down meal. We didn't but decided to do a take-away regardless. These are really the best halaal burgers we've ever had in Johannesburg. The servings are gigantic, the smash sensational. The only critique we have is that the fries seem to be pre-packaged and not freshly cut potato chips - a little disappointing at a burger joint where your burger's best friend is fries. Also, the smash is somewhat under-seasoned alone but the burger toppings are nonetheless fresh and generously placed atop each smash - without the toppings, burgers may be left bland and wanting. One thing that is very real though is the chili - real unadulterated birds eye chillies adorn chili cheese choices - beware for these are HOT! At the end of the night, this place really satisfies your burger-cravings, takes the money off your back and makes you want to come back for more.
Decided to try Rocomamas on a recent visit. Visited on a Thursday evening, which was a public holiday. Had to wait a short time for a table to open up. The place was very busy and noisy. It's Halaal which is a huge plus! The ordering system is quite unique ticking off your selection on a pre printed menu. Unfortunately they were out of cordials for the mocktails. The food we tried was the classic cheese - average burger, Patti was average as well. My husband had the Cracker Jack burger which has Macon,maple syrup and patti, and he enjoyed it. Would visit again for a burger and 'soda'

Had a very good experience. It was rather busy with very quick turnarounds. Despite this staff were very cool and calm and took the time to explain the menu. The menu was good and we tried a few items all of which were very good. The winner was the wings, I am a burger fan but the wings tipped it for me. The ribs were ok, could have been a bit longer in the cooker but I guess the amount of people played a part. Overall really good...

Was great experience. My first time eating at this franchise... the burger which was of my own creation and choosing was delicious... the loaded fries are amazing lol ... the waitress was awful though... rude and so unresponsive... and when we didn't tip her well enough because of her bad attitude, she had an attitude about that as well. Lol it seems most of the waiters and waitresses in this area seem to be miserable as this is the second time i have experienced similar behavior. My friends and i tried to engage with her through out the time with smiles and humor and she just gave us blank and unresponsive stares... and when serving our orders she mixed them up on each serving board ( my chips was with someone else's burger etc) she got angry and expected us to know what was for who... And when we finished our meal she stood there at the front of our table and stared at us and we got uncomfortable we decided to get dessert else where. We did speak to the manager though and we told him we enjoyed the food but her treatment of us in that manner was not appreciated. He did apologize and that was fine with us. We were more concerned about if she treated other like this as well.
I'm so glad that I can finally have a decent burger in Joburg! This Rocomamas never fails to disappoint, be it with the service, the food or anything else. The owners are always present to make sure that everything is up to scratch. The smash burgers are to die for, I've tried the Chilli Cheese Bomb, and the Rockstar, and cannot decide which is better. The chilli cheese fries are an absolute staple, and I find that the small size is actually ideal for two. The ideal time is to go in the week, as you may wait up to two hours over the weekend.
The food and service here deserves more than 5 stars. I recommend EVERYTHING. Their smash burgers, chilli cheese fries, MoFo wings, ribs, waffles, shakes.... all first class and fairly priced. The cherry cola milkshake is my favourite! And I can't help but order a portion of ribs for myself every time! They are hands down the best I've had, ever.
You can't go wrong with anything on their menu and i would suggest ordering abit of everything for the table.... especially if you're visiting with a big crew. And if you're indulging by yourself, I love that they offer half portions of waffles so you can squeeze in dessert even after you've enjoyed a big meal.
The wait is longer over the weekend but definitely worth it.

Rocomamas never fails to disappoint and is currently my favorite burger joint in the country. The Melrose Arch branch is under new ownership and is now halaal friendly which is great for Muslim clientele. Being the only halaal branch in Johannesburg the wait is fairly long on the weekends to get a table which is the only downside.
I had the Mushroom Swizz burger which was pretty great and added caramelized onions and guacamole. I decided to be daring and also order the cheese fries as well as the Six Bombs. Everything was really delicious and i'll definitely be back again. The wings are also great with the blue cheese dip.
We've not eaten at the restaurant itself, only having take-out or delivery with OrderIn. The burgers are enjoyable - good toppings which are generally evenly spread, but the meat itself is in need of better seasoning (the flavour of the burger would suffer were it not for the toppings). The chips are generally good and the portion size is huge - we've found the small to be sufficient for 2 people with some left over. The wings have been mostly good, but the sauces served with them miss the mark.
Rocomamas is one of my favorite reasterants because every saterday night I go to Melrose with my friends and just chill their the service is the best and the waiters are the best me and my friends always talk to them the food is delicious expecially the burgers they are so juicy and awesome

I am so glad that this is now a halaal store. There are so many other non-halaal burger outlets that serve non-halaal burgers that it's a refreshing change to see one catered for Muslims.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The smash burgers are delicious, but those Chilli Cheese Fries are heaven sent! I think I could live off of those fries! I added the chilli cheese bomb burger and asked for guacamole as an extra and what came was a feast for my tastebuds.
The espresso milkshake was amazing, and so were their chili cheese poppers.
The weekends are incredibly busy as they're sort of 'new' to the Muslim market, so I would recommend visiting them during the week during lunch if you can while things settle. That way you can enjoy the vibe and relax without worrying about it being too busy.
The Rocomamas at Melrose Arch is now halaal. Definitely worth a visit! Smash burgers are the only burgers that should be eaten - goes without saying. No junk made into a patty, it's the real deal. There's a good reason everyone loves Rocomamas. Queues are long on weekends as it's opened for about a month now but if you can, pop by during the week. The chili cheese fries are amazing - gooey cheese and chopped red chili, what more could you want? I'm not a huge fan of chili but I ate them in the chips. I opted for the best seller Chili Cheese Bomb burger, it was so good - I just had to remove the chopped chili, but delicious. Comes with macon. Espresso milkshake was excellent, didn't find it too heavy. They also have freak shakes like Death By Chocolate. I want to try the waffles the next time.

We were invited to try out the new menu at Rocomamas in Melrose Arch this afternoon. Their menu is Halaal and owner-run.
How do you order:
I really love the ordering system. Every patron receives a menu sheet where you tick off what you'd like. Burger prices start from R41 and you may select any additional sauces or accompaniments from the order sheet. It avoids any confusion with the waiters. The menu may be found on my Snapchat for the next 24hrs.
What did we order:
We were a group of 6 and decided to try a variety of starters.
1. Peri-peri Chicken wings; I felt that it could be meatier with more heat if it was being termed Peri. There is a stronger version if you'd prefer a hotter wing.
2. Chili Cheese fries; this was the BEST fries that I've tasted! The cheese sauce coated the chips with red chili chopped over it. If you don't have a tolerance for strong food opt for the cheese fries instead. We loved it so much that we ordered a second portion!
3. Chili Cheese poppers; these were bits of cheese with chili that were coated in crumbs and fried. I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend ordering a portion.
For the main course, it was a given that we wanted to sample their burgers. There are 3 seasonal, special burgers that are produced so always enquire what they are before ordering.
I requested the Chili Cheese burger without the Macon. I prefer a yellow cheese, so I would likely replace the mozzarella with that the next time. The burger is strong! Order it as is for the flavour, and if you can't bear the heat, simply remove the chili bits. The fillet was succulent.
For drinks, we all opted for milkshakes. The bubblegum was extremely tasty and I definitely recommend ordering that for kids (or for yourself).
Believe it or not, but yesterday was my first time EVER at a Rocomamas (I know, I know - where have I been, right?!)
Unfortunately, I had just eaten before coming here so I didn't have a chance to try their famous burgers. But I did try some of their cheese fries and it was absolute heaven! I have no idea what their secret ingredient is, but I can still taste those fries.
I ordered one of their cookies & cream waffles, and the waitress (who was also really funny, btw) was kind enough to warn me that the bigger size is huge, so I took the smaller one. I think it was only R20 and it was amazing! However, they served it on one of those wooden boards and after 1 minute, the ice cream was a runny mess. I think they should reconsider their plating options for their desserts.
I can't wait to come back for their burgers - and of course the fries ;)
The restaurant was very busy at lunchtime on a weekday. Patrons are given disposable menus on which they tick their orders. We had a Chilli Cheez Bomb SmashBurger and a Macon, Cheese, Guacamole Burger , Chilli Con Carne fries, Oreo Milkshake and Peanut Butter Milkshake. The initial drinks we ordered off the menu were not available. These were our second choices. The food was good although on the spicy (and messy) side. Next time , I'll order something less spicy. The restaurant is definitely worth visiting though, especially if you are a burger fan.
Trendy and booming environment! Burgers are juicy and delicious , milkshakes are decadent & the buffalo wings with the MOFO sauce is spicy but heavenly! Prices are reasonable , service needs to improve and the restaurant is certified Halaal for the public.
This is by far the best Rocomamas I have been to thus far since they have started franchising. The service from our waitress was phenomenal! Food was good, most of the table ordered burgers except my sister who ordered the hot chicken wings... when she tried eating them they were too hot for her. The manager noticed and came to our table and offered to change them for her. Great service can really make anything better !!
This branch was where I sampled their beers for the first time. I had a few of them and was very impressed. I can honestly say that all of the branches I've been to, the waiters always take the time to share their knowledge and assistance with regards to picking a beer
I must say that the chips are really nice they are very crisp and the seasoning is really awesome. The burger on the other hand has got a flavour of sauces which includes a melted feta sauce and a barbecue sauce which makes quite an impression on the taste buds. One can potentially say this is a really nice spot in getting a nice Burger which is not from your typical franchise.
Rocomamas Melrose has the perfect spot, right on the square. The vibe is good, the service is great!

My girlfriend and I decided to go for dinner at this Rocomamas tonight. We were satisfied with the restaurant, but there was room for improvement.
The service was okay at best, with our waitress bringing our starters together with the main course and forgetting our fries. We found their uniforms quite cool, and the staff were friendly. It's also great that gloves are used when food is handled by any member of staff. But the staff felt as if they didn't have a handle on things, which detracted slightly from the overall experience.
Atmosphere was good, with their music being the highlight of our evening. I even asked my girlfriend whether she thought we'd be able to find the Rocomamas radio station online. It was that good!
The food was yummy, and their milkshakes were great. The fries were, however, mediocre for the amount they cost us.
Which brings us to pricing. Rocomamas is generally worth the dough, and aside from the fries we were mostly satisfied with the price of our meal.
After having a good tune and filling our belies with doggy bags to spare, we decided that Rocomamas Melrose Arch is a cool dining location. They are priced right, their service is okay, food is yummy, and their in-house radio station rocks. So if you're looking for an upbeat burger joint, then you'll do well to come here.

Yes! Love these burgers- juicy, tasty and just how you want it. Shoestring fries are a must to. If you can, the deserts are decadent and extreme. Great for kids who enjoy food.
Enjoyed the Buffalo wings, it actually much better then spur, the burgers were ok too much sauce and the patty tastes a bit boring, the buns are very normal not toasted or real soft it just something you won't remember after you eating it, Ribs are just right , not burnt and quiet soft.
Exceptionally helpful staff, we went with a group of eight and they happily rearranged furniture to make room for us. Atmosphere was lively and entertaining albeit a bit cold in the enclosed outdoor area. The food and drinks arrived promptly and was up to the usual Rocomamas standard. I had a glass of their house red which I enjoyed and the boys really enjoyed the craft beer on tap. My chicken burger was tasty and the chips were more than generous.
At first I was not a fan, but I must admit Rocomamas has grown on me quite a bit! I have created a variety of my own burgers at many of their branches but have to concede defeat to the Rockstar burger. In my experience a small portion of curly fires is big enough to share if you're both eating mains.
Service is reasonable and prices are fair. Rocomamas is suitable for the whole family.
I've heard a lot about Rockmamas and was quite excited when I finally got to try them out at the Melrose Arch branch. The burgers were really good, especially if you're into flame-grilled patties and the chip portions are huge and really well spiced. The service was great and our waiter and the manager were both really attentive.
We often stop here for a burger and beer. The burgers are delicious and the quality consistent. There are specials available and the Empire State is outstanding but make sure you're hungry. Service is great and the waiters are friendly and enthusiastic. There are a number of beers on tap but the quality seems variable. Ordered Soweto Gold and one day the color was light golden and the next time dark golden. Asked and was told that's the way it comes, which I don't believe but we moved along. Another complaint is that burgers are served very rapidly but fries only follows much later. Ideally everything should be served at the same time. Not gourmet but consistent quality and value for money.
I think these guys should start giving out membership forms cause their food is amazing and simply addictive. I was quite impressed by the service and hospitality.
This Roccomamas is exceptionally good! Every waiter and waitress greeted me upon arrival and wished me well upon departure. They were friendly, efficient and went beyond the call of duty for me! Service was quick and even though it was busy - they got my order spot on! The food was tasty, filling and left me feeling very satisfied! 5 star service! :)
Burger goodness in a funky setting, that's all I need to say. Very upbeat, yet cosy restaurant with fast and efficient service. The burgers are good, tasty and juicy, the toppings are of debatable quality though. Definite bonus - in-mall delivery for people working in Melrose Arch
I eventually got to sample the famous Rocomamas. As I understand they are famous for their burgers and your individual ability to "build" your own burger and sides. It was lunch time so we decided to order 2 burgers and just one small fries; very good idea as their fries are huge. The service was average to poor, especially considering we had to remind the waiter twice about the water we ordered and we had to request the manager to request our waiter to bring our fries after we had already finished half our meal. Really not good. The burgers we ordered were the Old School and the Rockstar. Both good burgers, not as big as I had been told, but good enough for lunch. The caramelised red onion on the Rockstar was a really nice taste and the beef patties were tasty and not dry at all. Overall good enough for a quick lunch.

I have been to Rocomamas several times and have yet to be disappointed! Delicious burgers and wings, great for a relaxed meal with family and friends. Staff is always attentive and friendly. I love that you can always create a new burger to enjoy with every visit, and their portion sizes are great value for money. I took my mom there to try the burgers, she decided on the wings and has never ordered anything different since lol! I don't blame her, they are delicious, but I will get her to try a smashburger soon. The only thing I'd like to see is a cocktail menu addition and beef ribs for those of us who can't eat pork. Nonetheless it will remain a favourite spot on my list!
First review of the new year... And the lucky winner was Rocomamas. My friends and I all ordered burgers and man were they delicious. They were understaffed today because it is new years day but apart from our meals taking longer the usual, I don't have any negatives to say. Overall a good meal and money well spent.

July 18 dinner: Have been to Rocos earlier and decided to take my wife there. However, we went to another outlet - Melrose. It was quite cold and windy. When we reached, there was one table inside. While I ordered for the Sowetho Gold beer, my wife was not sure. So, the server got the beer in a small glass for her to taste. Ordered for the fries - just love them - perfect mixture of salt and pepper. The burger was a veg burger with mushroom and jalapenos and my wife ordered the chicken one. The bun, I must say, is one of the softest that I have had. It actually melts in your mouth. The Sowetho Gold is always good and with the super fries, your evening is sorted. Really like Rocos. And the service is really good. This is my second outlet and am starting to really like this place.
On a Sunday afternoon during school holidays the place was packed. Had to wait about 10min for tables and umbrellas to be moved together (for our group) at the furthest part of the outside seating. There were too few waiters as we waited long for our orders to be taken and we couldn't get their attention as they didn't pass by us at all except to bring out food and drinks after we had ordered. I had to move the heavy umbrella myself when the shade moved away from out table.
The food was great. Tasty as usual. I made a mistake with the Rock-tails, thought it was carbonated. Was basically drink-o-pop with a few ice blocks.
My go to burger place!! I love the food, it is always such a vibe to eat at RocoMamas Melrose. The service is great, the food is always top notch. Never been disappointed. A special thanks to Melissa who has been very helpful and always so hospitable.
Excellent burger and fries. It would have been perfect if the bread was not that cold.

Great burgers , ribs, chips and cheese bombs and hot wings , the food is prepared with fresh ingredients. I've never been disappointed after dining here . The milkshakes are really good too

They only had 1 high chair which was used so my baby well could not get a high chair.
The outside seating is not kid friendly, no back rests.

The store was super busy one Saturday Night when my family and I went.
Managed to secure a table and still had incredible service.
What really stands out is that the waitress took her time to go trough the specials with us and she also upsold to my very hungry kids. Which is amazing.
The manger went out of his way to ensure my kids were taken care of during the busy period and made sure the kids foods were pushed out to ensure that no toddler has a tantrum.
Really friendly staff who are exceptionally knowledgeable on the menu and even more willingly to help you pass the multiple question exam of what to eat.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Melrose Rocomamas and I must say, the service provided by our waitron, Catherine, was exceptional. From the moment we walked in, she was attentive, efficient, and incredibly friendly. She made sure our orders were taken promptly and delivered to our table with lightning speed. Catherine's warm and welcoming demeanor added to the overall pleasant experience we had at the restaurant. I highly recommend Melrose Rocomamas for their outstanding service, and I would like to extend a special thank you to Catherine for making our visit truly enjoyable.
The manager was such a kind and caring person. Her hospitality and character were heartwarming she helped us so graciously and made sure we were happy with what we got even though it was a busy Saturday night. Very impressive

The food was good, the service was good. We struggled with language barrier a bit with the waitress but we tried very hard to understand each other. All is well. Couldn't take pics of food and the place. We were in a business meeting, but we enjoyed the food.
Cost is a bit on the higher side compared to MacD or KFC, but the ambience justifies the cost.. Best place to sit with your closed ones, spend some time and lick your fingers over some juicy, lip smacking burgers.. the open air seating and the hospitality of the staff is just the icing on the cake.. Must visit post sunset.. Ample parking space available too..
Wow what a terrible experience not only for me but a few people around. The waiters are either incompetent or completely undertrained. I haven’t had such a bad service experience in a long time.
The food is fine but the service leaves a lot to be desired it’s chaotic the staff have no idea what they are doing. Shocking!!
This was some of the best RocoMamas we had, They seemed to improved the vegie burger. The food was amazing and actually filling. Loved the time here.
