Went there for breakfast on Sunday and I was blown away by the decor, service and food. Also loved what the waiter was wearing (cutest wooden bow tie). Wow!!! My favourite place from now on! Stunning!

I sat down on one of the couches at the restaurant today not realizing that it has not yet opened officially...yet I was not chased away by unfriendly unwelcoming looks but offered a cuppachino by the most helpful friendly staff ...well done! My husband and I had an amazing dinner tonight. Our waiter, Kelvin, was attentive and friendly. Our food was amazing! We shared the nachos to start, I had the Champagne Caesar salad and Hubby had the B&B burger. The drinks were beautifully presented too. Gorgeous decor, lovely vibe. Will be back!

Came to The Rock for a quick breakfast and had very pleasant experience. The servings are HUGE. Lovely ambiance and the waiters were very friendly. Will definately be back to try out their dinner servings.

I visited the place on a Sunday morning, it was the the busiest restaurant in the shopping centre and once I bit into my chicken prego, it was made very clear as to why this is. The atmosphere is very nice, the service is on point, but screw all that stuff, the food is damn good. I tasted the chicken and fish and they were done to perfection, its unbelievable how good the food is, even the onion rings is worth bragging about.
My friends and I decided to hit this place for breakfast after one hectic evening. We we greeted and welcomed with smiles.
The place is beautifully decorated, and has different types of seating settings, we had a lovely round corner table for 7.
I could go on and on about the food but really all you need to know is that it's an absolute must try.

Welcoming and modern décor gives this restaurant a cosy charm. Always good to be received by friendly staff. My wife’s macaroni and cheese was tasty and stylishly presented. My nachos were morish and very cheesy, which is always a good thing. We finished our lunch off with top class cappuccinos, to keep the chill at bay on this drizzly old year’s eve.
I’m going to do this rating based on my meal as my partner did not enjoy his meal as much.
I thought is a really nice place, good cocktails, my pasta was delicious and the round of halloumi was good too.
Food is always great. The rib special is always a good go to, yummy and tender. Love the al fredo, creamy but doesn't get too rich, only thing is if there was more pasta in it, I am always left with a lot of ham and mushrooms :D
Excalibur, is one of my favourites, never disappoints, always tender and fun due to the size of the skewer.
Service is generally very good, with a lovely floor manager (a lady, not sure of her name), she always ensures patrons are taken care of.
Only thing that is difficult, is waiting time when it's a bit busier, understandable, but when I am hungry I can't help but become a bit hangry.
I had their cheeseburger with fries and a side of mushroom sauce. Overall, the experience was great. The food itself was fantastic. The burger’s texture was great, it was incredibly juicy and flavorful. The chips were crispy and very well prepared. The service was great, and the waiters and waitresses were quick to serve and were extremely friendly. Not to mention the fact that their burgers are half price from 4 PM on Sundays!

There were 8 of us. 5 were pleased with The Rock; 3 weren’t and I must say their reasons were completely justified. I read the other reviews before I went through to The Rock and had a fair idea of what I wanted. The Ribs (Pork) were excellent complete with a great basting and presentation, their signature dish the Chicken Excalibur was reported to be bang average with no suggestions around why this should be a signature dish and no real crazy reviews about it; seemed like any other chicken thigh deboned and placed on a skewer. Some of the other patrons enjoyed the Zuchini Pasta and the Hake on offer.
The major miss of the night was the Tomhawk steak; it does take guts to put something like this on your menu and if it is sent back to the kitchen for being prepared well done as opposed to medium rare; the experience obviously isn’t one to write home about. After the steak got back to the table; the reviews didn’t improve and therefore we will call that a miss.
The dessert (both the Chocolate Sphere and Creme Brûlée) were excellent; thank you for putting that on the menu. Good experience.
Overall; I think there is a need to be cautious with this restaurant and read some reviews beforehand. You could run the risk of spending R800 or above for 2-3 people and end up being completely disappointed. On the contrary; a bit of a review analysis could help succeed with your menu choices 👌
What an amazing foodie experience we had at the Rock, Kyalami. Food was awesome, loved the wine selection and the atmosphere was just great! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. 👍👍👍👍
In-bloody-credible! The food speaks for itself but the people (staff), decor, atmosphere, music and general vibe make this one of my top-spots for 2018. Overly impressed by every element of this fantastic restaurant as were my overseas guests... We WILL be back, again and again :)
This is a wonderful restaurant. From start to finish it is outstanding. The food is excellent, we had ribs that were prepared beautifully and so tasty. So succulent and tender. They just fall off the bone. The mussel pot is so tasty, the flavour so out of this world. There burgers are amazing. So well priced. We also had nachos and jalapeño poppers for starters they are delicious.
The staff is so well trained and offer excellent service. Linda our waitress was a joy to have around. She made the experience so enjoyable.
Please keep up the good work. Such a pleasure to visit a restaurant that goes out of its way for its guests.

Kyalami Corner... where just about every restaurant in this wonderful centre... it's not enclosed so you can see the lovely blue skies or beautiful sunsets and feel the lovely breezes.
The Rock has a lovely intimate set up, so anything goes here from a group of friends with controlled noise levels, family dinner to a small celebration or an inter personal dinner....or better yet a freedom party at The Rock?
Guess it's what you make of it.

My habit is to read the menu... do it twice as your mind and stomach may not be in sync. Hunger games might make you order without seeing what there is on offer. There are no charges in most restaurants for reading the menu twice, so take full advantage of this freedom.
Done! I know what to order so a few bottles of sparkling water won't hinder my thought procedure and impair my judgement.
My starter was the Jalapeno Poppers...
4 Spicy Jalapeno poppers filled with feta and bacon bits in a secret breading served with a choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing. My option was blue cheese, I absolutely love blue cheese.
WARNING: This dish should come with a recommended disclaimer that patrons should be advised to bring their own bottle of the 2018 Galvascon for stomach burn. These just 4 SPICY Jalapeno poppers made me wish that my 4 Castle Lite's would bring effective relieve to my burning sensation.
I did notice the first table outside was located very close to the emergency parking bay and a fire hydrant...just saying.
Mains...my friend and I opted for the Oxtail wich was an incredible 500g Oxtail slowly braised for 6 hours in a thick Red Wine and Onion gravy.
Onions are just amazing for cooking, it just releases much amazing flavours and in a red wine wow....But is more to onions that one knows. Onions contain mainly the bioactive compound quercetin, which has been implemented as an antioxidant, anticancer and anti-inflammatory compound... oh dear I digressed ;-(
This Oxtail is probably one of the best you will ever get... best you visit here when you sick and not your GP now that you know what the onions are capable of doing to you.
Then.... and this from the first read through the Menu we opted for the Lamb Shank...
A slow cooked Greek Style with roasted vegetables and roasted potatoes.....ok it sounded amazing but no I didn't order this....

The Rocks' Signature Dish is called the 'Excalibur'
What? Yes..... Excalibur. I always wanted to feel like a Knight and now was my chance. It's deboned chicken thighs skewered grilled...basted with a rich mustered sauce.
Now I do apologise but have you seen the picture I have attached here. All I wanted was to lift that sword and prove for once that I am worthy of Knighthood... this was my opportunity. Oh the chicken thighs ;-)
Back to that chicken... in order to lift the "Excalibur" I needed to eat the chicken.... I knew there was something I needed to get from The Rock... trickery. I needed to pull the "Excalibur" from The Rock's....clever marketing.
Yes, once I ate those amazing pieces of chicken.
I lifted the "Excalibur" glanced to see if their were any other Knights to battle with, but alas I am the only one ;-(.
Venture to The Rock and see if you have what it takes to lift the "Excalibur."
Bonus The Rock is on The Entertainer App.... so I had both the dishes with the cheaper one being free.

We decided to try out the Rock yesterday since we have already frequented most of the places in Kyalami Corner. The service was friendly and good. Between us we had the Jalapeno Burger with sweet potato fries (I loved this and would have it again!), the fillet steak (which was juicy and delicious), and the ribs with onion rings. This place has met our expectations and we will definitely be trying out more items on the menu.
We finally got to check them out and they lived up to the hype. The decor is understated yet contemporary and the vibe is upbeat. Service was good and management is hands on. There are lots of tasty options on the menu. My fillet was as tender as can be and the sole special was a treat. Our dessert was something different - alcoholic jelly and custard - yum. We’ll definitely be back to try out their other fare.
Decided to have lunch at ROCK on a recommendation from a friend. Such a great location, good vibe. The waiters were friendly and attentive. The food however was very average. I had a burger, the patty was raw, which the waiter very quickly rectified but it looked and tasted like something out of a box. My friend had the calamari which she only ate a couple pieces of and gave up. It's a pity the food isnt on par with the rest of the offering. I don't think I'll go back for another meal.
I decided to have my cheat meal at this restaurant and it did not disappoint! I shared nachos with a friend and they were delicious but could do with some more salsa? I then had a chocolate milkshake that was mouth watering! I love the decor & the service is also very efficient. I will hopefully be back soon!
Wonderful spot recommend by a friend. Lovely modern look. Great atmosphere as well as very friendly staff. The food was quite delicious. Husband had the pork ribs and I had the chicken Alfredo. Both meals were simply devine. Definitely will be back again.
Loved this spot. Wonderful ambience, and great service! We went for a late lunch and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food was loved by all of us. I did not even realize that Quinoa could be so tasty until I ordered their butternut salad. Brilliant! Would be a 5, but I did feel that the prices were a bit over the top for the portion sizes.
I will definitely go back though.
Wow - this a true #KevFabFood gem in the relatively new Kyalami Corner shopping centre. This is a modern, airy restaurant that truly embraces fab food with impeccable service. Their bagel burger with a surprising soufflé egg is amazing, the ox-tail delicious and the desserts...deconstructed apple crumble and even a Banting chocolate brownie are all divine - we will be back to try more of the menu! Bravo to the team, bravo!!
Wow from waiting at the bar for a table to being seated what an absolute wonderful experience. I had the fillet medium with sweet potato chips and a pepper sauce. My husband had the 1 kg ribs with veg and a side of onion rings. Absolutely delicious. The place was pumping but ambiance, food and service was top notch! Definitely will be back!

Great location, comfortable seating and an extensive menu with something for everyone. Good wine list that is reasonably priced. The service was excellent and the management very attentive. Great addition to the restaurant circuit. Have already booked a return visit. Visited several times since this report was first published - still a great place for a meal.
Have to rate this as one of the best dining experiences we've had in JHB so far, after moving here around 8 months ago. Great ambience (very busy on a Friday night -- always a good sign), great service and a good menu that has a nice selection of dishes at reasonable prices! The latter is NOT easy to find in JHB. My wife and daughter each had a taco salad dish with steak that they both enjoyed. Very generous portion. I had a half rack of pork ribs which was excellent. I am a ribs connoisseur and am always looking for good ribs -- these really hit the spot! Generous portion, the meat was tender but firm and the basting (critical element) was delicious. The side dish -- french fries -- were hot and fresh. We then shared an apple crumble dessert served with vanilla ice cream which was great too, and interesting in that it consisted of only the filling and the crumble, no pastry. Was a delicious meal all round and we will definitely be back for more.
Loved breakie here - really beautiful furniture and interiors, friendly staff, contemporary menu and overall great experience. I especially enjoyed the fact that they serve almond milk! 😄☕️
Fantastic service!!! Waiters and managers were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was to much for them and they were very vigilant picking up serviettes that blew on to the floor or clearing any dirt plates ASAP!
The main course was good, I had the oxtail served with mash potatoes which was served in a rustic potjie pot, the oxtail was very tender and fell off the bone!
For dessert I was a bit disappointed, I had the deconstructed apple crumble. The apple wasn’t cooked long enough and the crumb contained no walnuts as stated on the menu.
Overall the service and ambiance was great, will defiantly be returning!!
